| said: The hotel is set around pleasant gardens and has pool bar and kids ply area. Rooms small for family but manageable. Needs desperately renovating, bit tatty but comfortable. Air conditioning worth the extra Euros but two of came home with bhronchitis which we think was caused by it. Breakfast was surprising good, greek style sausage or bacon on alternative mornings, scrambled egg, tomato and pepper mix, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, ham, toast which you had to make yourself, tea, coffee, orange or grapefruit juice, good variety. Ants everywhere in hotel but I think it was the same over the whole resort. Staff friendly, kids reps good, only gripe is that the hotel cancelled the greek night the week we were there and we didn't find out until 8pm.

Well air conditioning leaked three times on my sons bed, nothing was done when I complained . Family from hell doing Greek dancing and moving furniture for a week at 1 in the morning till 5 am. Again nothing was done because it was a Greek family!
Breakfast you have to share with the ants, it was horrible.
Only good thing about this hotel was Kidszone. They were great.

| said: Just got back from one week at the Exotica. Would highly recommend paying the 36 euros (£24ish) for air conditioning and we also paid the same price again for a fridge in which we kept water, orange squash, cheese, ham, dips, ice lollys etc as we sometimes ate lunch on our balcony to save a bit of dosh!
The rooms were cleaned daily although bedding and towels were only changed once maybe twice during the week.
Breakfast was fine as we were told it would be continental (there was a choice of 3 cereal, yoghurt, peach slices, jelly, bread, jam, ham, cheese).
The unexpected scrambled egg, baked beans, greek sausage and tomato and vegatable mix were a bonus (if you like that kind of thing!)
The location was great, less than 5 mins to the main row of shops and restaurants. About 5-10 mins to the beach too. (N.B There is a Supermarket next door which sells all the basics at only a few cents more than the shop at the top of the road)
Staff (cleaners and reception) were friendly, helpful and always smiling. Pool side Paul entertained the children (and some of the adults!) and the reps seemed to do a fair job too.
Entertainment for adults during the day consisted of sports report and big brother news at the poolside, anyone was welcome to play 'Killer pool', and the kids not involved in kids club activities were merrily splashing about in the pool on lilos and throwing balls etc.
In the evenings we tended to go out of the hotel into Kalamaki, however, the hotel did put on karaoke, bingo (5 euros per game) and a Greek night with buffet and dancing (10 euros for adults 4 euros for kids) during our stay.

The hotel is a very friendly place everyone mixing in this was one of are best holidays. A little out dated but maids keep the place very clean.
Only went to breakfast twice as we did not get up till after ten because of our late nights.

Breakfast pleasantly surprising, expected continental,a few extras made all the difference, jam, baked beans, scrambled and boiled eggs, toast, cereals.
Hotel 10minutes stroll from beach and 2 minutes from town centre.
Staff were pleasant.
Cannot comment about entertainment as we went out every night however the children seemed to be well catered for as there were childrens clubs and they always seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Close to airport, only 5 minutes transfer. The flights stopped at night so we weren't disturbed .
It was quite entertaining watching them land and take off.
A great base for looking round Zante. If you hire a car you can probably do all the island in a couple of days.

Alex the groundman was very busy, constantly keeping the pool area and bar area clean. The food that you could purchase at the pool bar was pleasant and reasonably priced and you were served within five minutes.
The location we were in was brilliant, turn left out of the hotel ans walk up the street you will find a selection of bars, gift shops and restraunts to your delight.
Friendly hotel staff, maids cleaned your room right through.
Ryan the entertainer was absouloutly top class with entertainment to satisfy everybody. With mini discos for children and entertainment for adults after. the kidzone reps were brilliant, Rachel, Tom, Lorna, Lynne, Linda, Michaela.
I would definitely visit this hotel again!

| said: Just got back from 2 weeks at this great hotel. The exotica is in a very central position about five minutes from beach and about 1 minute from main strip.
Linen and towels changed daily also rooms cleaned 6 times a week, breakfast was a choice of scrambled eggs, beans, toast, cerials, fried slice, boiled eggs, yogurt and honey, tea, coffee and fruit juices apparently this was a lot more than other hotels offered on a b&b basis.
Air con was availiable for a charge of 70 euros for 2 weeks(£48)and also mini fridge for same price and safety deposit box was 22 euros for 2 weeks(£15).
Swimming pool and grounds very clean and kept immaculate by Alex the groundman. People were getting up early to save sunbeds but on day we left they asked everyone to stop doing it and told them there towels would be moved if they did.
Sunbeds are uncomfortable but if you buy a lilo (only cost a few euros) and put it on sunbed its like lying on a bed!
Kids reps are all fantastic always something going on for the kids to do day and night kids club cost 3 euros (for all the sweets and crisps they have) for 2 hours in the evening.
All in all great hotel highly recommended if you have children and even if you dont as there were quite a few people there without kids that also had a great time.

greece. Hotel Exotica was had basic rooms, but very clean. Entertainment was spot on. They looked after
the kids wonderfully and most kids where sad to go home. My only gripe is for a family hotel, they should
not allow topless bathing round the pool and in it!!
Full of overweight women doing waterpollo topless
what a sight!!!!
Apart from that it was a lovely break and the reps
do everything to make your holiday memorable.
I would certainly book a Thomson Superfamily Holiday
again.

| said: We stayed at the Exotica for 2 weeks, 1st time in Greece so we were not familiar with the poor accomodation standards which are expected there. Accomodation was too crampt for 2 adults; 2 kids and to hire the much needed air conditioning and fridge we were charged 10 euros p/day. The hotel was exceptionally clean with room service daiy however no matress protectors and the decor was very drab. A deposit was required for a kettle / cups. The hotel was in a good quiet location aprox 10 min walk from excellent beach. Food at snack bar was basic but appetising; breakfast was disgusting (watery scrambled eggs/frankfurters at best, no bacon or sausages) drinks were slighty expensive and dont even think about giving your children a snack / icecream from the shop or you'll be told off by staff. Pool area was spacious and great for kids, excellent play park / soft play and large grass areas and top class kids reps who kept the youngsters occupied day and night.

The hotel is pretty from the outside with a basic reception area leading to rooms and pool. The bedroom itself was of a fine size for two, but bathroom was a bit pokey. We found the daytime poolside entertainment irritating but this is aimed at the families and they seemed to enjoy that.
I was shocked that it cost £25 for a week to hire a mini fridge, which considering how hot the weather was having a functioning but locked fridge in the room seems just a tease to sweaty scots like myself in need of a cool bevvy at the end of a day. (Was also £25 to hire the A.C. - you may need to but we coped with the ceiling fan and ice cold bottles of water which we slept with like teddies to cool ourselves down.)

| said: The Hotel Exotica was great - exactly as we hoped it to be and in some ways better! Our room (210) was on the ground floor with a balcony facing the pool and bar. The room was small (as expected) with an optional fridge (5 euros per day) and optional air con (5 euros per day) - we needed the a/c especially at night as the temperatures stayed high. The ceiling fan helped but was not enough during the especially hot nights. The kids had a bunk bed and we had two single beds pushed together - it worked fine for us all.
'Help yourself' Breakfast (eat as much as you like!) was fine - a daily spread of Tea& Coffee, fruit juices, kid friendly cereal (6 types), bread / toast with jams and cheese / ham, scrambled egg, yoghurt & honey and sometimes porridge, boiled eggs, sausages and croissants. The milk takes a bit of getting used to, but you expect that don't you?!
The pool was great - deep by the main 'get-in' but our kids (3&6) were fine when using floatation aids. The current reps are great - Joff does all the entertainment and although he could do with a bit of extra help at times (moral support as much as anything!) he did a great job. There's water polo, pool table competitions, 5-a-side football, quizes and lots more.
The evening entertainment was great for the kids and not bad for the adults either! The best way to enjoy it is to get well stuck in - like i did!!! The kids were well looked after by the kiddie reps (Gemma, Natalie, Lisa, Lynne,

The rooms were basic as most Greek hotels but spotlessly clean. Air con and fridges are available to hire(well worth it). The pool area is very nice although there are no pads on the beds which make them a little uncomfortable.Toilets around pool area are constantly cleaned.
Good selection of food for breakfast. Scambled egss, boiled eggs, ham, chees, cereals, jams
Kids seemed to enjoy the entainment, and staff and reps very friendly.
We shall certainly return to this hotel.

We seem to think that everything should be as it is back at home. well it isnt in greece, they strangely enough speak a different language and dont always have aircon. but they are however very nice welcoming people. the hotel exotica i loved every moment of it, being one of the rare people that understand that life is different here. the hotel was clean the pool area lovely, there was games throughout the day that does need audience participation strangely enough. greaT hols thanx

nice clean hotel. rooms are nice enough, bathroom size of a broom cupboard. breakfast was good. pool area very nice. hotel drinks are a rip off though, most drinks are double the price of the shop next door. location is ok, plenty of restaurants near by although the beach is a bit of a walk. entertainment is poor , reps usually rely on audience participation and since there is only usually about 10% of the hotel guests there of an evening it gets boring. the two nights entertainers were bought in,one was karaoke, the other bingo. we still had a great holiday at the exotica, just not sure i would rush back there

| said: Myself, my wife and our fourteen year old son stayed at the Exotica in August 2002. This was our third visit to the hotel and our holiday was absolutely superb. The staff are really friendly, and Costa (the boss) is entertaining in a Maffia boss sort of style. He and his wife will try to teach you Greek during your stay, which is great fun. The accommodation is very clean and basic, but you will spend a minimal amount of time in your room. The water pressure is variable so watch out for scalding water in the shower. My advice is to use cold water only. Breakfast is great and far more than you get elsewhere in the resort. The food from the poolside bar is also excellent and you could have something different every day of a two week stay. Kalamaki itself is a very nice resort. No British yobs giving us a bad name. Plenty of restaurants and bars. The chinese restaurant (next door to the leather shop) is really awful. They only take cash, the food tastes below average, we were served by a geordie slapper who ran across the road from the pub to take our order,(her opening line was that she had been on the razz all day!), and it was horrendously expensive. There is a quality Chinese restaurant in the heart of Kalamaki called The Hong Kong. Well worth a try. We ate there three times this year. Taxis are quite reasonable with a five euro minimum charge. Don't try to book a taxi until you actually need it. They don't understand the concept of advanced bookings! Just get the receptionist to order one, and it will be at the hotel in a couple of minutes. Also worth a try for the lads is the Karting circuit about two miles down the Laganas road. Its quite a challenging track, and you get the choice of 200cc or 270cc karts. About 14 euros for ten minutes. Great fun! Finally, I am surprised by some of the other comments on this page regarding the Exotica. When you go to Greece or the Islands, you shouldn't expect palatial bedrooms, electrical socket covers, a kettle in the room, a man to swat bluebottles away for you, and all the comforts we have the privelage of at home. We are guests of the Zakinthians, so lets just become Zakinthian ourselves for a couple of weeks. All in all, it's a fantastic place for a holiday. The people I met at The Exotica this time all agreed that they would come back again, and recommend the hotel to friends.

FOOD CAN BE PURCHASED FROM THE POOL SIDE BAR BUT IS VERY BASIC, THE POOL STEPS ARE IN THE MIDDLE 5FT DEEP SO CHILDREN BEWARE, BUT THEY DO HAVE THERE OWN SMALL PADDLING POOL, THERE IS AIRCON IN THE BREAKFAST ROOM BUT WAS NOT TURNED ON THEY WHERE KIND TO OPEN THE DOORS AND WINDOW EVERY MORNING SO YOU COULD EAT YOUR BREAKFAST WITH THE FLYS, IN OUR OPINION THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OLD. IN THE BROCHURE IT SAY'S APARTMENTS READY FOR 2002 BUT DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE BEEN STARTED AS PIC IN BROCHURE IS SAME AS HOTEL.

| said: We went on a two-week stay in the Exotica in June 2001. The hotel itself is very well run & the reception staff in particular are excellent. We did find however that there was barely any space in the rooms. We had a double bed & a set of bunk beds for ourselves & our two daughters. This room is supposed to be able to accommodate four ADULTS.... but we found that two adults plus two small children was a real squash! I also found the prison issue grey decor in the rooms a bit depressing... but that's just me. The rooms & the hotel in general are spotlessly clean, with daily maid service. We found that the stone tiled floors in the rooms are treacherous when wet, so be aware of that if you do have little ones with you. The breakfast was very good, but got a bit boring towards the end of the holiday. There was cold meat & cheese, Greek yogurt, cereals, cake, baked beans, scrambled egg, boiled eggs, bread, juice tea & coffee..... so you won't starve! I agree with the previous reviewer that the entertainment in the hotel is poor. We have been on Super Family holidays before & in comparison the entertainment here was distinctly lacking. You can hire fridges & beach towels, which is a real bonus. It is also worth mentioning that the celing fan is very effective on those long hot summer nights. Don't bother taking a mozzie machine with you as you are only allowed to use a special one with a long flex in the hotel, which can be bought cheaply from the supermarket next door. The location of the hotel is very good. There are lots of great places to eat nearby & plenty of parking spaces out the front if you decide to hire a car (recommended!).
Kalamaki itself is a nice little resort. The beach is fine, & a short flat walk from the hotel. Swimming with the turtles was the highlight of our holiday !!!
Please feel free to email me with any other questions you may have about The Exotica, Kalamaki or Zakynthos... I will do my best to answer them!

A quiet resort ideal for families.
There are some fantasic restaurants in Kalamaki and all at a reasonable price.
The staff at Exotica were great, although some of the guests were horrible.
The pool is a disappointment its far too deep for kids, and the steps into it are in the deepest part, however they do have their own paddling pool.
I would recommend the Exotica and I would return
