This was our 14th visit to this Hotel and it did not let us down again. It is like a home from home.
Clean and fresh decor throughout. Food and drinks great and lots of choice of bars and restaurants to try out. Has also a very hard working animation team that entertain you throughout the day - with a smile.
Great to see the same friends staying and working there each year. Have already booked for 2009. Highly recommend for couples, families and children.

| said: If have been travelling AI for the past 3 years and this was by far my worst experience.
We stayed on the first floor the room was very tired looking and need of a make over for example drawers broken, woodwork rotten, cupboards smelly, carpet dirty, curtains kept coming off the rail, bed linen thin and wripped on the kids bed on two occassions and the bedroom door had to be repaired 3x because it wouldn't lock. Upside fresh towels every day and air conditioning effective. The common parts of the hotel such as corridors, windows and nightclub area were also in need of refreshing. No water is provided in the rooms as part of AI and no fridges we tried to hire one when we arrived but none were available. The main reception area and resturant was alot better.
As AI goes the food in the main restuarant was ok, plenty to choose from but the menu cycle was weekly so by week two a bit boring and predictable, the food by the swimming pool was poor. We did enjoy the iced coffees with baileys though.
The swimming pool area presents as real health and safety hazard. The paved area around this pool was extremely slipply and that's just adults trying walk across it. I witnessed far too many seriuos falls resulting in injuries, some of which required hospital treatment. On this point alone this hotel should not be marketed for families as the paved pool area is completely unsuitable.
Location is ok there is no beach to speak of where the hotel is sited, however there is a beach 250m away which is sandy and has shallow waters. Shops are some distance away but that didn't bother us. Water park in walking distance and this was a fun day out for all.
Hotel staff were very friendly and the bedroom cleaning staff did the best they could considering the state of the room. Thomson reps were good seemed to be fending off lots of complaints about rooms and the pool.
Entertainment was boring and probably spoilt by the fact that a minority of people were smoking in the night club. Why do people do this is beyond me when its the mini disco for kids.
Would I go to Cyprus again definitely, would i go to this hotel again definitely not and I would not recommend.

| said: We went on a 2 week All Inclusive package from 30th July to 13th August with Thomsons.
Flight to Pafos airport was stress free. Arrived at the airport and immediately had our bags checked in.
Flight was on time and uneventful. Arrived at Pafos and met by the Thomson’s rep who directed us to the transfer coach.
Transfer takes approx. 30mins and Louis Phaethon Beach (pronounced Fi-a-thon) is first drop off.
Upon arrival, very quick check-in, where you get your AI bands tied to your wrists. We found the reception area always extremely helpful and responsive to guest needs. They were very efficient, when loads of guests arrived, they handled them quickly and got them settled in without issue. There is constant turnover at this hotel, therefore they are always busy.
We went to our room on the 2nd floor. First impressions was quite basic and small. Usual amenities with plenty of storage space. Noticed the safe was not included in the AI package. It costs an additional 3 Euros per day for safe hire – rip off considering it’s free all over Egypt.
3 issues in the room & hotel that spoilt what was an excellent holiday. One was cockroaches. We had a few in our room, and to be fair to the hotel, they tried everything to fix the issue, by spraying the rooms etc.. The result was a lot of my hanging clothes afterwards smelt of the spray. The other was that linen did not always smell nice. Once we had to get it replaced. Finally TV is atrocious! You only get Sky news in English. All other channels are in different languages and poor reception. No music or kids channels!
That apart, the rest of the hotel was simply fantastic!
Food was spot on. The was always a large variety for all hours of the day. You would be very hard fetched to go hungry and find something you didn’t like. Ice cream is plentiful near the pool bar. At lunchtime the Chinese restaurant opens for freshly cooked Chinese meals. If you didn’t fancy that, you could go to the Helios bar for pizza, chicken, pasta etc… or inside to the Espirades restaurant for more meals.
Drinks were always good. Spirits are local varieties but not bad. We had Malibu, Brandy, Baileys etc.. Beer is always Keo which normally is draft, but can be ordered by the bottle. Best place for drinks is the Café Vienna.
The staff at the restaurants work relentlessly to keep it spotless and are always clearing up dirty plates etc.. Very high standard and credit to Michalis (food and beverage manager) who keeps things ticking nicely and very friendly and welcoming to guests.
Entertainment & activities we found excellent. Mainly because the onsite animation team and Thomson reps put in a 100%. They are up at the crack of dawn and still around late at night. They have loads of activities throughout the day ranging from Shooting, Archery, Pool Fun Games to French Boules, Killer darts etc.. The good thing is the winners get Diploma certificates at the evening events. It just adds to the competitive spirit!
Each evening the animation teams have a kids disco, then their local crazy dance & Bingo (which is fun) and then they lay on a show. The majority of the shows were excellent considering the effort they put in. One or two were below average (magic show, UV show). Hypnotist from England was ace! and very funny! Worth noting are the break dancers (awesome!) , Dido and the girls!
Very special thanks to Becky Lecky and Krazi Kim the Thomsons kids reps. Always full of energy, excellent with the children and really made their holidays. How they remember all those dance moves amazes me.
The hotel is out of the way and takes a good 20 minutes to walk to the nearest shop, in the searing heat. Pafos harbour takes approx. 45- 60 minutes walk, though you can easily grab a taxi or bus.
To summarise, excellent run hotel with lovely food. Hard working staff in all areas, especially waiters and animation staff. Had a brilliant time which were only slightly spoilt with aforementioned issues. I would go back however likely I would like to visit some of the other Louis hotels, as their standard seems quite high.

| said: I have never reviewed hotels before but really felt on this occassion the need to. This hotel was great, clean and well presented. The facilities, including the outdoor and indoor pool were well maintained and there were always plenty of sunbeds so you were not all on top of each other. The food is exceptional, plenty of variation the only problem is eating too much, all the staff are very attentive and will try to accommodate everything you need. We upgraded to All Inclusive and this was certainly a good move even though the euro was so weak at the time it makes life so much easier and is much more cost effective.
OK, the rooms may be on the small side but have everything you need and are cleaned to a very high standard.
Of course it helps when the weather is so wonderful and credit must go to the fantastic entertainment team who work tirelessly around the clock to keep everyone happy. It may not be everyones cup of tea but if you have children (whatever age) they will certainly keep them occupied and if they are happy then it just helps you enjoy your holiday even more.

Very clean with excellent food everything you can think of.Hotel a little bit out of way, supermarket about 5 min walk, hotel has got own shop with mostly everything in but a little dearer. Fab pool plenty of room had canoe race 1 day thats how big it is.Only downside for us our 8 year old daughter fell ill with ear infection + sickness and had to make two trips to local hospital, hospital very clean all staff including doctors spoke good english. The reception staff in hotel were very helpful in this bad situation, most are english expats. Entertainment was very good with activities going on right through the day, evening entertainment was excellent only downside was it was indoors.Would definetly go back to this hotel.

| said: I have just come back form 2 week holiday at this hotel. ( 29 / 3 to12 / 4)
I cannot give it enough praise, it is around 97% English and 3% international.
The food was excellent, there was something for every taste including the children could not fault it, it was going from 8 in the morning till 10 at night.
You could also get a sandwich or cake up till 12 if you wonted it.
The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for you.
The rooms were very nice I had a pool / sea view as most of the rooms do.
There is a hair dryer in every room and it works well, TV has Sky news.
The rooms were keep very clean with clean towels every day and sheets changed at least twice a week.
Pool towels were also available if you wonted them.
The day time and evening entertainment was that of most 3* hotels games for kids and adults spread throughout the day, the animation team were good although I was told this can change every 6 months.
The pool has lots of sun beds and umbrellas, there was also sun beds set out in the gardens and beach front.
The beach is not really a beach, some dark sand and stones, so if you are looking for a good beach holiday this is not the place for you, the sea is nice to look at though.
We met some very nice people in the 2 weeks we were there,I wont mention there names, but if you read this you will know who you are
A family form Romford, I hope you enjoy your cruise.
A couple form Fith, hope you are doing well in the Bowls.
A couple from Birmingham, watch him with the vodka.
last but not least a Father and Daughter from Chester, don't forget to keep me informed on you know who.
All in all great holiday, good fun, I will defiantly go back.

I have read reports of the beach not being so good. We did not bathe in the sea and the sandy beach is 200m away. It looked ok.
We hired a car so did not have to walk into Pathos. The bus runs every 1/2 hour or so. There are bars within walking distance. You would be sober by the time you got back!
We were All Inclusive and were well looked after.
We took Cyprus £ and they are now using the Euro.

| said: We travelled with the in-laws to this hotel in January. The 1 thing that sticks in my mind, and I have to mention it first, is the food. Completely out of this world. I am convinced no hotel on earth cooks food this good. From home made bread and butter pudding, steak, carvery, a salad bar to die for, you cant fail to be disappointed. Ladies beware...I went a size 10 and came back a 12-14, and none of the clothes I bought to wear at night fit me after the first week!!! So if you're planning to pig out, don't spend a lot on new clothes before you go.
The hotel is clean and the staff work hard all day long. The rooms are very small and need decorating (like most of the hotel...especially Chariots nightclub...more like a 1970's ballroom than nightclub as advertised!!) It doesn't matter that rooms are small though, as you are rarely in them. If too cold to swim outside, the indoor pool is nice, and the large jacuzzi even better. Towels for swimming are provided which is good.
Entertainment went on throughout the day, the usual table tennis, shuffleboard, darts, and we joined in, it was a lot of fun!!! The entertainment team are great, really friendly and not over the top like at some hotels. Ceri, Polly, Noddy, Joe and Petra put some shows on if outside entertainment was not on, they did well!!! The hypnotist show is not to be missed either.
All in all this is a very relaxing hotel with plenty to do all year round, the pirate ship playground is great for the kids, and there are bars dotted alla round the complex. It's easy to get to Paphos on the bus from directly outside the hotel. I don't think I'd go back to the Phaethon (pronounced Fa-ye-thon) as I'd probably go self catering next time so as not to get so fat and not be able to move!!! That's the only reason though, nothing against the hotel!!!!

The hotel was very well set out and gorgeous inside, as were the rooms. Staff constantly on the go ensuring hotel is clean. Our room was plenty big enough for the four of us and we were very impressed.
The food was ace, always plenty to choose from and not repetitive like some hotels.
The entertainment was excellent for both the kids throughout the day then the kids and adults in the evening. The Animations team also worked very hard and very long hours always delivering a great show. Big thanks to Craig, Dida, Dita, Ceri, Polly, Norby, Sarah and Chris as made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Likewise the bar staff in the hotel were excellent and put in a hard days work. Big thanks to Anna and Petra at the Atrium bar for always ensuring I had a beer and for there friendliness and making the holiday!!
Would go back to this hotel in an instant and will be doing so in near future.

| said: Overall this hotel was good value. The food was of a good standard and the hotel facilities were good . The location is a bit awkward as its the last in a line of beachfront hotels away from Paphos. Its about 45 to 60 minutes walk into the centre of Paphos . You can , of course, get a taxi for about £5 CYP or catch a bus.
I was disapointed mostly by the so called 'family' room . You couldn't swing the preverbial cat in it!!Its a room for 2 people with 2 extra beds stuffed in it.
Also the beachfront location isn't that good . It's not a beach but more of a dustbowl. All the other hotels futher up towards Paphos have nice small sandy beaches in front of them, and a path which links them together . (The Louis P doesn't).
Entertainment was OK if you like the Butlins brigade, but in all fairness the entertainment team worked hard and had a long day but kept cheerful throughout .

| said: We were in a family room which comprised of a double bed and two single beds for the children (age 2 and 5). Far too small and unsuitable for us so had to upgrade to adjoinng rooms at an extra cost.
Poolside was a danger zone. When tiles became wet they were slippy and our children slipped over numerous times.
Weather was great, even in mid / end of October. However, the outside pool was really cold - too cold for our children to spend more than 20 minutes in at one time - which is a real shame as they usualy love playing in the pool all day.
We thought food was excellent. Loads of it and really good standard. Mass production but did not taste like it. I had a different roast meal for 4 days running!
Location is poor, there is literally nothing around the hotel for 2 miles.
The hotel is right next to the sea and the one brochure we saw advertises a sandy beach - don't be fooled! There is no sand, more of a dust-bowl and a waste of time for the kids.
Great activities throughout the day - boules, volleyball, killer darts etc to keep you entertained throughout the day.
Getting a drink at night time was hard-work. Loads of waiters but it seemed to take ages to get served, get your drink and then (if your not on AI) waiting to get your change!
We usually go with Thompson Superfamily but this time went with Olympic. Thompson Reps were up to their usual high standard but we could not use these.
Hotel kids club were poor. We had no faith in the staff and when I went with the children, the kidsreps just get the children to do drawing for an hour - no interaction or fun. My kids got bored.

Could have done lots of activities but only really joined in the aqua gym with Crazy Craig who is great fun. Agree with everything good that has been said by previous posters. There was one couple who were on their 30th visit to this hotel. Says it all I think.Have only put 4 for food as there was plenty to eat but not many local dishes at night. There were two Cypriot dishes at lunchtime, but only inside the restaurant and most people, including us, found it too hot to move inside and just used the pool bar/cafe if we ate at all. Didn't see much of the entertainment as Chariots night club is downstairs and my daughter uses a wheelchair.Have given stars for the daytime activities. It was the last night before we realised (after talking to Craig) that she could go into the nightclub through the emergency exit. We just stayed upstairs in the lounge area playing cards and watching the world go by.

| said: Hi
We didnt know what to expect from this hotel as there are so many different reviews both good and bad. We went with an open mind although it was a tired mind after being delayed at Manchester by Thompson! (Lets just say we wont be booking with them again.) We arrived at the hotel and were grateful to be dropped off 1st. Hotel reception very impressive, only downside is that smoking is allowed which doesnt give a good first impression! We changed rooms once within minutes of arriving as there was a problem with ants. (although if I hadnt been so tired I dont think I would have been bothered.
Room: Clean, fantastic view, hair drier, clean towels changed everyday.
Food: Fantastic selection if you are dont like foreign food. Breakfast is the usual continental and English fry up. Lunch: Either in the restuarant or around the pool they have a chinese buffet with a few dishes on and also there is food available in the pool side restuarant. Evening: There is a list outside the restuarant of what is available on the carvery on a weekly basis. Food nice enough but far too English for me. Not enough Cypriot dishes, either that or nothing to go with it.
Pool Area: Plenty of sun lounges for everyone. People with small children please purchase swimming nappies available at the poolside bar to save any closures on the pool for cleaning. A few cats hang around but they are very friendly (nick a couple of scraps for them it wont go wasted)
Evening Entertainment: Very limited resorces and aimed mainly at keeping the children entertained, the Lion King show was good. Aladdin was dodgy. Bingo is great fun and decent cash prizes. They did put on some entertainment a hypnotist which was a great laugh and my favourite night (hello Susan! ha ha).
Day Entertainment: Plenty to keep the kids occupied and adults too, shuffleboard, shooting, Archery, French Bowls etc.
Bar: Staff work very hard and we always tipped them not to get served any quicker, but the fact is they do multiple jobs and often work long hours and are on their feet for most of the day and night for very little pay. (Hello to Roy and Volancs) who were always very friendly and polite.
General Comments:
Ok hotel, downsides are too many smoking areas, and rude people who kept ignoring the rules and eating around the pool despite it not being allowed. I had a massage whilst there and it was so relaxing. Highly recomended.
Harbour Area lovely, shops not brilliant. Bar street was a pain if you dont want the hassle avoid like the plague.
Buses: Great for getting around and only 80 cents although be careful of little steps near the pavements I walked off one and sprained my ankle.
Went to a restuarant near the Amathus hotel called Olestro for a meal simply the best food you will taste!!
Best Memory: Getting engaged.
Worst Memory: Being delayed 11 hours at Manchester.
I would probably return to Cyprus but prob not to this hotel not that anything was wrong with it. just that it catered too much for English and I like a bit of culture. I would however recomend this hotel if you have never been abroad and not sure whether you would like the food as its mostly English anyway.

| said: AI works very well here - no queues for drinks, plenty of everything, plenty of choice for children and adults alike, and all is good quality.
The hotel location is good or bad depending on what you want - it is at the end of a long road. It's about 6 minutes walk to the waterpark. It is a quiet location so is very suitable for families. The only downside is that there are not any shops at all within very easy walking distance - closest are about 15 minutes walk which is not much, but seems like it when it is very hot and you have small children. It is a short taxi drive from the harbour (costs about C£5).
The hotel staff are professional and friendly. Service is prompt and accurate. It is nice to sit in the hotel lobby and have a drink brought to you.
The entertainment ... what can I say ... the hotel have a very strong duo leading their entertainment team. These two guys, Dido and Chico, are extremely talented and capable, excellent organisers, extremely personable and friendly to children and adults alike, and tireless in their humour and desire to entertain.
Shows are put on every evening at 10pm in the hotel nightclub (which is a room in the basement of the hotel with staging etc.). The shows that Dido and Chico are in, are hilarious or well done - comic shows, fire eating, nail walking etc. The human orchestra show on the Tutti Frutti night was the funniest thing I've seen for a long time, and showed the entertainment teams girls to be great sports as well. Other shows include a very funny stage hypnotist which is well worth seeing, a parrot show, and singers (although the singers were rubbish). The audience are often asked to interact and seem to do willingly.
The evening entertainment kicks off at 8.30pm with a kids disco. This takes the form of 4 or 5 reps dancing on stage with the kids copying them on the dance floor - songs like music man, agadoo, superman etc. and then playing about 4 games with the kids. Children aged under 10 seem to enjoy joining in and older children seem to spend this time outside the nightclub playing on the pool tables and arcade games, or sitting with parents.
At 9pm the children are invited to go into an adjoining room for 'cinema' (watching a video of a current film) whilst the adults play bingo. Bingo actually turns out to be very funny... an audience member becomes the bingo caller with the help of Dido. The cost of playing bingo is C£5 for one person. Firstly, they play for one line, and the winner receives C£10, and then they play for a full house and the winner receives an amount depending on how many tickets were sold - when we were there it varied between C£130 and C£190. This is then repeated with different colour bingo cards (you receive enough for both with the C£5). We had never played bingo before, but found ourselves joining in enthusiastically on more than one occasion.
I would definitely visit this hotel again for an easy holiday with children. I would not go there as a couple or if my children were all teenagers.
Get into the spirit of it and you'll have a great time.
The apartments are small - this is the only criticism I would give. For a family of four, we had a 'family room' which consisted of a small bathroom, a double bed and two single beds, and wardrobe space. There was not also a table or chairs in the room. On the balcony there was a round table but only 2 chairs. I did put a request in for more chairs but was not given any more. In the event, we spent so little time in the room (only sleeping) that it didn't matter.
The hotel swimming pool is great fun. It has a tiny square for toddlers which is knee deep (to them), and then the main pool has 3 main depths although it is graduated. The shallow end is about 3' deep (went up to my 6 year olds chest). This end is obviously used mainly by small children and their parents and it is this depth up to the nets that are used for water volley ball (so easy to tell the children how far they can go by themselves). Beyond the nets, the depth gradually increases to about 2 meters near the lifeguard, and then the pool opens into another big square which is over 3 meters deep, so suitable for jumping and diving. It works very well because children of all ages have places that they can feel comfortable in the water. The only people who might struggle in this pool are those who want to float gently on lilos because they are likely to be splashed or tipped off by others having fun.
Entertainment occurs around the pool throughout the day, but it is not intrusive if you don't wish to join in. Occasionally, swimmers are asked to vacate the pool (twice whilst we were there for a kayak race ... how many pools can host a kayak race?!!) but it was only for about 10 minutes and was great fun.
The biggest and only problem we encountered with the pool was the selfish holidaymakers who allow their toddlers to use the pool without proper swimming nappies, resulting in poopy accidents, which in turn result in the pool being closed for 12 hours for cleaning. Take swimming nappies with you!
Sunbeds - it was such a relief to not have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a sun bed. Many holidaymakers put their towels on the beds in the evening and left them overnight, and many took them away each day. We did both and never struggled to get get a nice sunbed. Sometimes we were right next to the pool, sometimes under the shade of a tree and sometimes nearer the huge pirate ship climbing frame, but it was nver a problem to get 4 together.
Food - served in the main dining room or in the outdoor area near the pool - typical AI food - big range from pizza to chicken casserole to spaghetti bolognese to stifado to soup. Always plenty for vegetarians, children, fussy eaters etc. I was disappointed in the lack of fish dishes (there was always one or two but very basic) but pleased with the choice of the carvery. Ice creams galore all day. Pancakes and home made waffles every afternoon. Cheese or ham sandwiches after 10pm.

| said: How we hated coming home - which speaks volumes about the standards in this hotel. It was our fifth visit and this time, we persuaded some friends to come with us (albeit a few days after us). The cleaners appear so dedicated, everywhere is spotless - even the ashtrays are emptied at each new drinks order despite only having our used straws, the peel off fruit slices etc.
The pool toilets was the only area with a bit of a pong, but being next to the underground generators and below the various kitchen/bar areas near the pool, we couldn't expect more. However, if you didn't need to visit the loo outside, you wouldn't notice the pong or humming noise so no distractions at all.
The lounge areas, reception, Vienna bar, Atrium Bar were always immaculate - glass tables wiped regularly etc and happy smiling faces shone in the marble floors everywhere.
Our only criticism would be that the corridors to rooms appeared a bit tired and just some basic TLC but other than that, we had all we could wish for.
Food. Oh my goodness. Where do we begin? Fantastic. Choice; quality; quantity. I can't imagine anyone starving at the Phaethon because there really is something for everyone - from basic staple diets to highly spiced dishes and everything in between. As for the puddings........ WOW so much choice!
The hotel is usually the first drop off point from Paphos airport as it is the first one on the main road leading down to the harbour - a good 40-45 minute gentle stroll (in the heat for totally unfit 44-58 year olds) but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which runs every 15 mins and costs 70 cents per journey whatever the distance within Paphos.
Yes the planes do fly low near the hotel - sometimes directly over the hotel but more often than not, just over the sea, parallel to the shore. It's fascinating to watch and the noise really doesn't bother you because it only lasts a few seconds - but you're usually laughing louder anyway because some poor people are leaving that day and it's not you!
Being that little bit older, we didn't go downstairs into the underground Chariots Nightclub but from previous experience, this is more for the kiddies and teenagers in the first part of the evening, then a few disco tunes for the adults and a show a bit later. We'd much rather sit outside on the terrace or inside at the Vienna Bar and watch the world go by.
Last but not least, the staff - without exception - are faultless. Nothing is too much trouble and they are so pleasant and every-ready with a smile. Our friends thought we were exagerating about the staff wanting to refill our drinks before we'd finished the last one... they soon found out for themselves that we weren't. Hot drinks, soft drinks, alcoholic - whatever you wanted they provided - and in superb "home-style" measures. Hic !
Would we visit again? We came home on the 28th July and have just confirmed our booking again for May 2008. Enough said?

Cleanliness in the hotel is good, the only gripe being the toilets in the public areas where sometimes a bit smelly (but you get that anywhere you go). The cleaners work non-stop.
Food is fantastic. There is something for everyone. New for this year is the Chinese buffet which is open from 12pm until 2.30pm everyday, made a change. Pancakes where also available from about 3pm - 5pm and as always ice cream is available from 10am all day!
Hotel staff work tirelessly, but are always happy to help you out.
Entertainment was out of this world, I can't understand why some people would say it was awful and only go twice?!
They are not professional shows but the animation team have good fun and even more fun when something goes wrong (Chico and Dido are a brill double act!) There was something different every evening, just give it a go, you might be surprised. I would recommend the hypnotist show, very very funny!
OK, so there is no beach....although there are water sports and you can paddle in the sea if you want to. The beach of Coral Bay is a 45 minutes bus ride away (only 80 cents) and has all the sand you could want, a good day out for the kids!
Just looking at booking our next holiday here...can't wait to go back!!!

Waiters very friendly, not just doing their job but interested in where you came from and trying to improve their english.
Don't know why previous people thought night time entertainment was rubbish, what do they expect when they come on holiday - vegas acts! We all thought that the team put on very good & professional shows. So much so Our children didn't want to leave the hotel at night, unless they were back for 10pm show. In my book, if the kids are heepy you are happy!
Met people who had been to the hotel before & just cound that no other hotel entertainment came up to this lots standards.
Rooms, whilst clean, (aprt from ant appearing at the end of our holiday in bathroom), the rooms are small for 4 people - that;s my only negative feedback.
Food excellant, have been to other AI & the standard of food is the best I have come across.

| said: We have just arrived back on Saturday 14th July from the Louis Phaethon Hotel. Overall the hotel was excellent apart from the evening entertainment which was awful. The pool was brilliant as it was heated and was safe enough for our 6 year old and 10 year old to use in the shallow end safely.
However the deep end is very deep - 3.2 metres. We never did make it to the bottom. Originally we had booked to go half-board but upgraded to all inclusive which was a very good deal. Much cheaper than booking through a travel agent - around £250 for 10 days.
I cannot fault the hotel facilities but as mentioned above the evening entertainment was really bad - it starts with a mini disco - our kids enjoyed that - although it was the same music every night. The bingo was next - OK if you enjoyed that kind of thing.
After that was a show - although the reps and staff did try their best, it was not recommended. We managed to sit through two shows and decided after that not to stay for any more. Also the fact that the entertainment was held in a room in the basement meant that it got very hot and very smoky and was reminiscent of a very well known holiday camp.
There is no real beach near the hotel that you could use. Coral Bay is a bus ride away but apparently gets very crowded so you need to get there early.

The hotel and rooms were very clean, hotel food had a massive varied menu, they even had the classics for the kids, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, pizza etc.
Hotel is located only 20 mins from the airport and its right on the beach although we never left the hotel all holiday I can't say about the surrounding area,we didn't need to seek anything else to make our holiday complete, it was all right there at Phaethon.
The staff were very friendly and always happy to help.
The animation team were amazing, they work really hard all day and night and they still had a smile and time for a chat, they did activities during the day, bingo at night and then a live show at 10, never a dull moment always something going on, the animation team were : Dido,Chico,Freddy,Peter,Guma,George, duchy, evee, magy, gabrika,jaqui,ceri,sylvia...you're all amazing guys.

The reception area is very big but unfortunately stank of cigarette smoke, when will the EU crack down on this?
Thankfully the restaurant was fully no smoking & the food was first class.
Entertainment was o.k. there was something on most nights inc a nice folk dancing troupe in national costume altho sadly hardly anyone turned up to watch, a conjurer also was poorly attended. Rooms were tended every day with clean towels etc.& staff were friendly.
One thing that annoyed some guests was the pool attendant would begin dragging & stacking all the recliners at exactly 5 oclock & then hose everything down for some bizarre reason.
I would definately recommend this hotel

| said: This was our 6th visit to the Phaethon and once again we were not disappointed.
The hotel is always extremely clean, standards of hygiene are very high and as usual each morning and throughout the day staff were on hand to ensure that the high standards were maintained.
Food, being on AI we have always found this hotel one of the very best for food. Variety and quality seems to be well above standard and the new lunchtime food bar at the pool should prove to be extremely popular.
Accommodation, we e-mailed ahead requesting a specific room and were delighted to find that we had been allocated the room of our choice, they.ve never let us down yet. As usual the room service was excellent and done with the minimum of fuss.
Bars, again service very good, although it must be said that the many weddings can cause a slow down in service at times, however, this is just a minor glitch in a fortnights excellent bar service.
Chariots night club bar service was also excellent, the staff manning this bar were very friendly and helpful.
Entertainment, now where do I start. The Animation team, although nearly all new this year, with the exception of Dedo and Chico, were excellent. This was Dedo's 2nd year in charge and he's really proving to be a skilled and affable team leader. The shows put on by the team were done with wonderful enthusiasm, amatuer they maybe but their energy and commitment could not be faulted. Daytime activitiy programme kept all who participated entertained. A great team who deserve individual mention. So Thanks, Dedo, Gabbika, Sylvia, Evalina, Freddy, Guma, Chico, Cerys, and Krys, if I've forgotten anyone sorry.

The staff, food, entertainment Hi Dido, Freedy, Chris, Chicko, etc etc, were very good.
Plenty of food.
Drinks good choice, but my child had to pay adult price but he could not have a milkshake, but the adults could have all cocktails, Baileys, why why why, did ask but all I was told was that milkshakes were not all inclusive. So he's choice was very limited.

| said: Returned from this hotel last week and will definitely return.
Rooms - were adequate for our needs and did not seem tired - looked just like the brochures. Our sofa was converted into a bed for our daughter which was very adequate. Plenty of storage space. Rooms cleaned spotlessly on a daily basis. Bathroom abit small but fine for holiday needs.
Food & drink - food was very good for buffet meals. Tried to cut down in second week but the sweets were too good, especially the lemon cheesecake. The snacks during the day at the pool bar were better than all other all inclusives I have been to. The crepes and waffles late afternoon at the poolbar were lovely. Lots of cocktails, carlsberg or keo lager by the bottle or pint plus all the usual spirits.
Entertainment - lots of activities during the day. Entertainment team was not too pushy. Archery, rifle shooting, aerobics, water polo, football, beach volleyball, darts, shuffleboard, boules. I have been to 5 other all inclusive hotels and this has by far been the best entertainment. They have a large team of about 13 people. You can't expect theatre performances but this hotel does cater for alot of families and this type of entertainment is great. There were 2 external shows per week and the entertainment team put on a show every other night. The shows demonstated alot of imagination and the mistakes that sometimes occured added to the entertainment. Mini disco 8.30 - 9.00 pm. Bingo 9-10 pm. CYP 6 for a game. (we won 3 houses during the 2 weeks which was about £400 GBP). Show 10-11pm. 3 club dances were performed at the end of each night for everyone to take part. Could not fault the entertainment team.
Staff - all staff were very polite and efficient. Reception were very helpful when my daughter got an ear infection and had to go to hospital. Safe cost CYP £25.20 for 2 weeks.
Kids clubs - both thomsons club and the hotel clubs were great for the kids, could not fault them.
Doctor - You can either go to a private doctor (Royal Medical Centre) or go to the General Hospital to see a state doctor. If you go to the hospital open from 8am to 2 pm (CYP £5 in a taxi). Go to the admissions desk and take a ticket. You are then supposed to sit until your number is called then stand in the queue to be seen. Keep an eye on the locals. If they take a ticket then stand in the queue, then do the same. You will have to pay CYP £1.20 and will be given a name of the doctor to be seen and a number. You will be direct to the waiting room. It is a free for all. Don't lose your space in the queue. Only took 2 hours to see a doctor. If you need a prescription you can go to the hospital pharmacy and get the prescription for free (pharmacy open 7.30 am - 2.30 pm and will close at this time). But there are very long queues. We were no. 164 and at 2.30pm (when they closed) the numbers were only at 74. The numbers do not carry over to the next day so you need to start with a new number. Better going to a normal pharmacy where you have to pay but no queues. If I had to go again I would see the state doctor but go to a pharmacy.
Will definitely be returning in 2 years time.

The main restraunt provided good food during mealtimes, you could also get food at the pool bar, saves you from changing.

| said: Just arrived back from the Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel - Paphos. Very disappointed, the hotel was classified at 4*, but was not.
Some area's of the hotel we ok some were not. The rooms had been recently decorated, but the bathrooms had not, and were very old and grubby. The shower never stayed at a constant temperature, so was either too hot or too cold.
The hallways to the bedrooms were very shabby and smelly, and a few dead cockroaches could be found laying around.
The pool area was a danger zone. The paved area around the pool was very slippy and we saw a number of accidents where people (mainly children) had slipped over. It was impossible to walk in bare feet. Although the pool is large, most of it is over 9 feet deep, and not suitable for children. The shallow end of the pool was always very busy.
Not sure about the hygiene of the pool, a large number of people contracted illnesses, mainly stomach bugs and colds. One child ended up in hospital.
The food was ok and there was plenty of it, most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

| said: The hotel was generally clean and tidy.
Our room was on the small side however there was plenty of storage including a cupboard especially for suitcases, which was useful. The room included a TV. but the only English station received was sky news; the room also had air conditioning, which did become a little cold in the middle of the night! The bathroom was adequate although the shower had a tendency to go hot and then cold!!
The food was disappointing, there was a very limited variety of vegetarian dishes, and a lot of the salads contained meat!! Also there was a lot of flies in the restaurant landing on the food, which was very unpleasant. The puddings were the same nearly every night, and became very boring.
There was a wide range of drinks included in the all inclusive package including cocktails, beers, wines, soft drinks and water. All gentlemen are required to wear full length trousers as shorts and cropped trousers are not permitted.
The pool area was very slippery and we witnessed several people slip over! also some of the sun beds were tatty and dirty with holes in them. The pool was very deep and most of it was un-suitable for children to safely play in. The sun seekers were out early with their towels, so you need to be up early for a prime location by the pool.
The entertainment if you can call it that was poor, it consisted of a kids disco, bingo and a nightly show e.g. Cyprus dancing which was so dreadful we got up and walked out halfway through!!! the other nightly shows weren't much better, and unfortunately there are no surrounding bars near to the hotel, so you are stuck there on a night.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The official rating for this hotel was 4 stars but the hotel is beginning to show its age and should be down graded to a 3 star. We certainly will not be recommending it to friends and family and won't be holidaying there again.

We were on the 1st floor of the hotel. But after a long day travelling it was a huge treck up the long coorridor with two really tired children, and a lot of luggage.
However, when we arrived at our room we were quite happy, but a liitle bit small, but sufficient as you don't expect to live in the room 24/7. We thought the carpets were well past there expectancy, but otherwise the hotel was clean, we had linnen and towels replenished every day except one.
The hotel staff were very friendly. Their customer service standards were spot on. The entertainment provided was not the best we had seen, but was not a huge problem with us as four more families came with us. As we were getting married in Paphos Town Hall on 6 July. So the children had plenty of familiar friends to play with which was great.
We found the food of great standard especially for picky eaters, they have everything for someone.
We Had a wonderful reception for our wedding when we got back, very memorable!!!!.

We could not fault it from the moment we arrived to the moment we left (unless you are a fussy devil and in which case stay at home!) The staff are very pleasent and eager to please, they love the kids. Food was very good. Gentlemen do remember to take long trousers as 3/4 length or shorts are not permitted. The entertainment team are very good, they seem to be totally dedicated to their jobs either that or they are mad as they work from the crack of dawn to the early hours, always with a smile.
My only word of warning is that the pool area is very slipperly, I witnessed several falls. Also the towel brigade are up are out before the sun so if you want a bed around the pool be there with them. Personnally the garden area was alot more enjoyable and quieter.
The holiday blues have already set in and haven't been home 12 hours. That's a sign of a good holiday.

| said: I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 11 year old son for a week all inclusive.
Upon arriving the staff were very quick at booking us in and we were served a glass of fresh orange, which was very nice due to the heat, but the hotel is air conditioned which was needed.
The rooms are very small if we had any more children it would have been far to cramped but they were clean and nice with a tv which only has sky news as the only English channel (which repeats the same news every 20mins)plenty of storage space but glad I took my own coat hangers are there is only a few supplied.
Bathrooms are standard like most hotels, there is air con but ours didnt seem very powerfull although other couples we spoke to said they had to turn theirs down as it got to cold - lucky people! No need to take a hair dryer as there is one supplied.
Plugs are the same as back home so no need to take adapters, clean towels every day, bed sheets changed every other, limited service on sundays.
The lobby of the hotel is nice with two bar areas situated within, 1 is a cafe style the other which opens on a evening is more classy. There is also a terrace outside which is lovely on an evening, but bear in mind this gets very busy and you need to be there quite early to get a table.
The waiters are very good at there job and really make an effort to make sure you always have a drink. There is a good selection of drinks and they serve carlsberg by the pint or bottle, also serve kiddies cocktails which is a nice touch for them.
The restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner is buffet style and has a nice selection of meals although I would of liked it if it served more fresh fruit for breakfast, and more chicken and fish for lunch and dinner, but if you like your red meat you will be pleased. There is kids selection in the main restaurent which serves the usual chips, nuggets, sausages - all the things they enjoy. The puddings are really nice - found myself having 2 or 3 different ones on each plate as i couldnt decide which one to have. Every evening there is a part of the restaurant which ahs a chef serving a roast of day, from beef to pork and gammon which is all very nice.
Please note men have to wear long trousers to eat in here. You do have the option of eating at the pool side canteen which serves from 10 - 5, this provides a good selction of things such as pizza, chips, fish, nuggets, salad, rice, pasta etc. You can help your self to soft drinks and beer, or there is a bar for other drinks. You can also help yourself to ice-cream here which the kids love. There is water from the machine which is fine to drink but if you want bottle water you have to pay extra for that.
The pool gets very busy and is very slippy so be careful. The evening entertainment is terrible, even our 11 year old son thought the same, although there was plenty of things for him to do as there is a games room and pool table and xbox machines. We were lucky as the world cup was on and to be honest I would have been extreamly bored on a evening if it wasnt.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the town centre but this easy to get there as there is a bus stop outside and taxi's pass frequently, dirrectly opposit is the water park(which is limited so try the one at the other side of the island - cheap to get there on bus and not to far)
The hotel is also quite close to the airport so expect to see and hear plenty of planes passing on certain days. If you really like sunba\thing on the beach avoid this hotel as there is no beach just rocks, but from what I have gathered most of Paphos is like this.
All in all not a bad hotel but the entertainment is what let it down for me, but the food kind of made up for that and the staff.

Might have been a bit small for 4. The cleanliness was excellent, maid service and clean towels every day. Location of the hotel not good, there is a bus stop outside where you can get a bus to the harbour or Coral Bay but it cost 1.20 euro each way with no half fares for children. We hired a car for our second week (much cheaper along the road than through the hotel) The beach at the hotel is awful. The hotel staff were very helpful. My son has a food allergy (coeliac). I e-mailed the hotel prior to our visit and made sure they could cater for his diet.He was supplied with gluten free bread and the chef went round the buffet every evening to tell him what he could eat. The animation team worked very hard, entertainment was not wonderful, but it probably depends on what you want. There were a lot of older people at the hotel who had been back several times.

We were there for a family wedding and we were given a free upgrade to a sea view room (presumably because we had the same name as the groom). The family room was small but comfortable and very clean. If anything the bathroom was a little dated.
The food was fantastic the only downside was that after the evening meal the only snacks available were sandwiches which were terrible. There was nowhere close by to buy food.
The staff were all friendly and were very quick to offer drink refills. The only place were you had to queue at the bar was in the nightclub.
The entertainment was OK. The kids really enjoyed it although it was a bit tacky and at times amateurish! There were loads of activities during the day and all ages were encouraged to join in.
The location was not brilliant. There were nice sea views but the hotel beach is non-existent. The nearest beach is about 5 minutes walk but is horrible. We used the beach behind the Ledra beach hotel (15 minutes walk) which was lovely. There is nothing but hotels in the immediate area but there is a regular bus service to Paphos.
Overall we loved the hotel and would return.

The rooms and the hotel were spotless.
The food was excellent plenty of choice even for fussy eaters like my daughter.
The location was a little out of the way from the town and shops but it wasn't really a problem because the bus stop is right outside the hotel and they run every 15 minutes.
The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, the daytime activities and evening entertainment was also very good.
I would recommend this hotel and would definitely go again, hoping to go in September.

| said: We had an absolutely fantastic time at this hotel. Its a 3 star hotel, but feels far grander and far more relaxed. The main points we loved were:
The food, was exceptional. One member of our party is a fussy eater and took great delight in enjoying the roast beef and yorkshires, whilst the rest of us were a little more daring with the local cuisine. But of course the full english breakfast went down a treat with all of us!
The hotel staff were amazing and we received an extremely attentive service from several of the wairesses and the cocktails were delicious although beware of the ticket to bed!
The entertainments team seemed to be around 24/7 and there was always something going on for you to join in with!

| said: We have just returned from an all inclusive holiday/wedding, my son got married at the town hall last Wednesday.
The hotel staff were absolutely fantastic couldn't do enough for you, as soon as glasses were empty the hard working waiters were there refilling.
We asked for room on low floor with pool view, our room was b24 which was quiet and central for every area of hotel, did not have to use lift and pool just outside room.
The reception was at the hotel, as bride and groom arrived back from town hall red carpet was out and wedding march was played, the area the atrium bar was roped off for the afternoon, hotel staff really looked after all of us.
Table was set up in corner of dining room nicely decorated, wedding cake supplied by hotel was delicious.
Pool was cleaned every day and area around pool was clean although rather slippery.
Food was plentiful and always hot and plenty of choice.
Room was on small side but did not stay in there much during day.
Would definately return to this hotel.

| said: Just arrived back from getting married in Cyprus and this has to be the best hotel we have ever stayed in so far.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royallty we couldnt believe how genuinley the staff were to help.
On the day of the wedding we had 34 gueast that were not staying in our hotel and it only cost 30 cypriot pounds for a day pass, and believe me, it was well worth it.
The amount of cocktails that were available was great and the staff were on hand to fill you a drink when your glass was empty.
We had a red carpet and a champagne toast followed by our dinner located outside of the resturant for a bit of privacy. The flowers were fab and the set out was out of this world it was very stress free.
The food was the best part about this hotel as it was always fresh and plenty of it too. More than enough for those fussy eaters such as the kids.

| said: Just arrived back from two weeks all inclusive at the Phaethon.
We also got married whilst we were out there.
Cleanliness- The hotel was immaculate and the cleaning staff worked tirelessly. Very friendly and could be seen working from 6am to midnight. Nothing was too much trouble for them if you wanted extra towels they were availabel from cleaning staff or reception.
Food and Drink- Although the food was very nice the choice was often not that great. Not alot of veg available. The yoghurt was amazing though as was the roast beef from the carvery. Breakfast was a dissapointment and the scrambled egg was nothing short of vile. Drinks were also a let down only had lager local Keo or Carlsberg no bitters guiness etc available. Also spirits were either strong enought to get you drunk one one drink or so watered down you couldnt taste the alcohol.
Entertainment- Daytime entertainment there was plenty to do and the team worked very hard at keeping you busy but they werent pushy. Evening entertainment was ok the uv show was great also the hypnotist show was a right laugh. Other than that though it was very poor like butlins abroad. And the nightclub was two song after the entertainment.
Staff- Reception staff were very friendly nothing was too much trouble.
Food and beverage manager- Was absolutely lovely great help with our wedding plans.
Waiters and waitresses- did a grand job service was sometimes slow but the hotel was very busy whilst we were there so to be expected. Abbas and Imran were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms and decor- The rooms had ample space but do take extra coathangers, decor was a bit tired, and beware the showers run VERY hot or cold at times we got burned three times from the showers. BE VERY CAREFUL if you have kids.
This hotel is quite far out of the resort and to get to the main area was a taxi or bus ride away taxi about 5 cyp pound or buses every 15 mins at about 60 cents.
If you want a holiday were you want to see paphos cyprus then hire a car as it is quite spread out.
All in all hotel was good I would say low 3 star hotel though. I wouldnt go back to this hotel again due to food and drink variety and location.

Hotel, immaculate, cleaning all the time. We changed room on day of arrival due to noisy disco close to front of hotel. Then allocated room B24, on ground level, close to pool. Can recommend this room to families and 2 persons. It was really quiet there with no noise of floors, lifts, doors, etc etc.
Food - 5 out of 5. Inclusive can be repetative. This was fine with themed nights(greek, Indian, Chinese, Italian) as well. We ate well and drank moderately.
Location - we gave it 4 as it is a bit out of the way. But for us at our age it was great. Simply no noise, very relaxing holiday. However, bus stop right outside hotel, running every 20 or so minutes, for short journey to Paphos Harbour.
Hotel staff - first class. Very helpful at reception and especially so in restaurant.
Entertainment - for children, Mmmmm? For adults, something everynight if you wanted it.
Definately yes. The price was right. We got what we paid for. There may be better I have no doubt, but this was fine for us.

| said: We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful wedding and holiday at the Phaethon Beach Club Hotel. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the hotel staff were fantastic.
On arrival we were allocated two rooms with a connecting door which was brilliant as our children are only 11 and 10. In our room was a bottle of champagne, bowl of fruit and a letter congratulating us on our forthcoming marriage.
The children loved every minute of the holiday and became good friends with the animation team who spent very long hours organising various competitions throughout the day and supplying the evening entertainment. Being all inclusive meant that they could help themselves to snacks, drinks and ice-creams throughout the day - brilliant!
We have a few family and friends join us for our wedding in the second week of our holiday. The hotel treated us like royalty and our wedding day was very special, when returning to the hotel from the town hall we arrived back to find a red carpet and the wedding march being played and all the staff clapped and cheered as we walked in. They had roped off the whole of the Atrium Bar for our wedding party, so that we could cut the cake and have a champagne toast. They also set out a table in a quiet area on the veranda for us to have lunch and also for us all to eat our evening meal, this was decorated with flowers. Anyone who is thinking of getting married abroad do so, as it is so romantic.
We could not fault the food, everyday it was excellent and even my 10 year old who is very fussy managed to find plenty of things to eat.
Our rooms were very clean and the maids very polite, we asked for extra pillows and within 10 minutes they were in our rooms.
Top marks to this hotel for making our wedding and holiday so enjoyable, we will be returning in a couple of years time to celebrate our anniversary!

| said: Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Phaethon Beach Hotel. There were 15 in our party including 7 teenagers.
We chose this particular hotel with the youngsters in mind because of the water sports and various activities available to them on the all inclusive price. We were not disappointed, the 5 boys were kept occupied all day with canoing, pedloes, football and various others organised activities. Daytime entertainment could not be faulted and the animation team worked really hard. However, the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired. The brochure stated that there was a 'nightclub' in the Hotel. This would have been ideal for our two 17 old girls, because we would not allow them to go into town on their own. But, the function room also doubled up as the 'nightclub' and when going down there at 11pm there were still young children running around. I believe that this time should be adults only as the children had the function room from 7pm onwards. Where was the adult entertainment?
The food in the Hotel was excellent. what a choice! There was a great deal of variety in the outside snack area, and the self service beer tap was great! The restaurant was spotlessly clean and again a wide choice of food available. We were also surprised at the cocktails being available on the all inclusive,( I think we went through the list quite a few times!).
The location of the hotel wasn't great, but it was only a bus ride into town and the buses run every 20 minutes.
The waiters worked so hard. As soon as your glass was empty they would ask if you wanted more drinks! They were all friendly and polite and great fun.
The only thing that spoilt our holiday was the fact that 3 of our party came down with ear infections, and 4 came down with dodgy tummys. And we know of at least 6 other people who came down with ear infections in the hotel. But the rep told us that all the pool etc had been tested and was all clear.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and all our teenagers would say the same.

| said: I have just returned from the Phaethon Hotel with my husband and 14 year old daughter.
We stayed all inclusive for 2 weeks and the hotel more than met our expectations. The cleaners were constantly at work and our room and en suite were spotless throughout our stay.
On arrival, 11.30 p.m. Cyprus time, there was sandwiches and fresh orange juice in our room, most welcome! The food was fantastic, with plenty of choice throughout the day; both the restaurant and the pool bar maintaining an exceptionally high standard.
The location of the hotel was a little inconvenient if one wanted to go into Paphos, as a taxi or bus was required, however, the bus stop was just outside the hotel and buses were frequent.
The famous Paphos Aphrodites Water Park was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The location was more than compensated by the fact that the hotel provided everything we wanted, being situated on the beach with watersports such as canoeing, pedalos, jet skies, waterski-ing, banana boat, etc. The watersports centre also provided car hire and various excursions such as jeep safari and water safari, etc.
The hotel staff could not be faulted. The waiters were friendly and helpful, constantly on the lookout for the needs of residents. Receptionists ever ready to help and all staff were rigourously supervised.
Entertainment was adequate, with bingo, kids club, kareoke, etc.
The pool was cleaned every morning. However, the pool did get very busy during the day and we preferred to stay in the beach area, where there was sunbeds with protection from the sun provided by palm trees. Life guards were on duty during the busy periods.
We would certainly visit this hotel again.

Had two adjoining rooms on the third floor with a sea view which was lovely and we had the added bonus of interconnecting doors which we hadn't asked for and were a great benefit as our 4 children slept in the adjoining room with the interconnecting door open.
The rooms were spotlessly clean with towel changes every second day and bed linen changed twice a week. However the bathrooms are very small and need updating - the showers were awful and the shower head kept moving around when you stood underneath it! My husband had to wrap a piece of string around the shower head and hose to stop it moving - not what you expect at a hotel which charged us nearly £1,000 per person to stay in!
There is a hairdryer in the room and a tv - the only english channel is Sky News. There isn't any teamaking facilities or fridges and no iron (there is a laundry room with an Iron and Ironing Board on the third floor)
The hotel itself is kept very clean with chambermaids constantly on duty throughout the day. However 3 of our 4 children caught ear infections during our stay which needed ant |
