Just returned from a relaxing week with husband and daughter (aged 12). The Viva Menorca Apts are very spacious and we had a ground floor room overlooking the pool area. Everything was kept spotlessly clean inside and outside the rooms.

Didnt have to get up early to reserve a sun lounger as there are plenty. No towels to be put out before 9am. Thought there wouldnt be any entertainment as it was out of season, but was wrong. Activities arranged during day and shows put on in evening.

Not suitable for groups of girls/fellas looking for partying every night. Great for couples with young children and grandparents.

Would go again, but perhaps in season when there are more people staying in the resort as we did find it very quiet. BUT... the weather was great, the accommodation great, staff great, reps great. Recommended.

We loved this hotel, it is very clean, the entertainment was good and the staff were very friendly! The location was good but about a 5-10min walk from the Marina/Harbour.

First time that we have stayed at Viva Menorca and were not disapointed.

Breakfast and Dinner were both good - we especially liked eating outside on the terrace.

Hotel and rooms were clean and serviced 5 times during our 7 night stay.

Location was excellent 10 mins from centre of resort with easy access to waterpark.

We would visit this hotel again but go self catering as the resport has fantastic restaurants with a view of the harbour.

Kids club was excellent, the staff worked tirelessly all day and BUFO was a great addition.

this was our 3rd visit to viva menorca, and things have gone down hill abit. 2001,2003 fantastic, but 2008 a let down.firstly, rooms looking a bit shabby and in need of a make over, air con not working properly for our 11 night stay, which made it sometimes unconfortable as temp in the 90`s,restaurant food gone down hill abit since we last came, less choice and quite expensive and drinks more expensive than u.k. only 2 waiters serving drinks to all guests outside (200/300 people).half hour wait for a drink. staff very very helpful and pleasant.its a shame that standards at the hotel have deteriated . probably only a 3 star now

This is the second time we have had a two week holiday at the Viva Menorca. We stayed in block 2 again and the room was clean, the staff very friendly and the entertainment for both adults and children was great. My two sons love it here and want to go back again next year. We will be going back in a couple of years. The pool and area were all clean. The rooms were cleaned 5 times a week to a very high standard. The staff in the bar area were polite and helpful. As for the entertainment staff I cannot rate them high enough. They were always professional and bond well with the kids and adult. This was again a perfect place to have a holiday. It is close to the town, shops are near by and I cannot think of a better place in this area to stay.

The only thing I would say is that the hotel has a policy of if you put your towels on a sun bed before 09:00 they will be removed. This is a great idea, but sadly the hotel does not enforce it. Having said that we arrived at the pool at about 11:00 most days and managed to get four beds together every time.

Hotel itself was excellent reception, bars, toilets and pool area. But our particular room in block 2 was OK but not 4 star. Furniture needs updating a lot of it looked like it had been in the floods. Kitchen very small had to prepare basic things on the table. Rooms very cold but they couldn't put the heat on when we asked them. Entertainment non existent nothing for adults. We thought it was ideal for couples and families but mainly for families and young children nothing for teenagers to do. Everyone looking fed up. We should of been there until Friday the 26th October but we got a flight home today 19th October with the help of the rep. Wouldn't return or recommend to other couples.

Booked this quite last minute. The hotel is in a nice reasonably central location. Walking through after arriving we were impressed with the decor etc. The reception staff were friendly & helpful.

Our room was on the ground floor of one of the blocks towards the back of the complex so we were not near the pool/entertainment area. Unfortunately our room was not clean, there was quite a bit of dust everywhere & even hair on the table/bedside table. The bed sheets & covers had quite a few marks on too.

The actualy apartment was spacious, the only real problme was the wash area is not in a separate room, the toilet is in a small room on its own but the sink/mirror is just off the main living room so there's no privacy there.

The pool was of a good size, plenty of beds but did get busier around lunchtime. Every few days there were people selling fresh fruit & ice cream by the pool.

The walk to the harbour was only 5/10 minutes a long a fairly quite road. There were quite a few big supermarkets around too which were reasonably priced.

We didn't get back in time to see any shows which is why I havn't rated it.

Just returned from the Viva Menorca 7 Sept. and we had a lovely time there.

The apts are lovely we were in block 1 overlooking the main road, but it wasn't too noisy.

The grounds are kept clean. The downfall is the sunbeds, you can't get a one, we went to the Nuramar next door and nobody bothered you there and it was nice and peaceful.

Staff are very nice we got a bottle of wine on our day of departure.

Loads of ants in and around the apts

Marina is about a 15min walk, la Fontana restaurant is lovely so is Legends. we thought the beer and spirits were quite expensive, lager was anywhere between 3 euros and upwards depending were you drank, and there is no happy hour. But Cala 'n Bosch is a lovely place and we would visit again.

I think these apartment should be a 3* not a 4*
Apartments are clean, towels/sheets changed regulary. A bit on the small side for a family of 4 and although the apartments are self catering the little kitchenette doesn't have any work surfaces/space, we struggled to chop up fruit without it falling in the sink!
The entertainment team work hard and a couple of the evening shows were excellent.
Food in the restaurant was very good, fresh and enough selection to suit the finickiest of eaters. Food from the pool bar was only adequate at best and very expensive, as was the drinks. (1.80 euro for a small water as opposed to 30 cents from the supermarket)
Usual scramble for sunbeds! Basically there's not enough and unless you are up and on them by 8am you don't stand a chance. The pool area could easily take more sunbeds as could the grass areas and gardens. The pool area itself is moppped a couple of times a week but not with any gusto! There's bird poo on the floor and also on the sunbeds (Which while we were there were never washed off) Not my idea of a relaxing holiday.Don't like having to get up early for a sunbed. Also couldn't get an early night, with the entertainment going on every night and the revellers returning back afterwards you can't get to sleep before midnight. The apartments are about a 20 min stroll from the Marina where there is agood selection of reasonably priced restaurants offering good food. We like the Calan Bosch and will return but perhaps not to The Viva.

Great Aparthotel in lovely gardens, rooms were very clean with good facilities. We stayed Halfboard and the food was very good with a very large choice and excellent service.Only couple of bad points were distance to the beach which was about a 20 minute walk and as all others say the poolside beds although we have to say they are trying - they remove towels not used after 1 hour so it wasn't as bad as it could be.

Had a great 2 week holiday at the Viva. The food in the restuarant is very fresh and clean and plenty of choice. We sometimes ate there but liked a stroll down to the marina aswell. Our children aged 12 and 9 and ourselves enjoyed the evening entertainment they liked the limbo the entertainment staff work very hard and were very friendly.

The location was fine the only down side was as everyone says the sunbeds! Getting up at 7.30am on holiday kind of spoils your holiday. I suggewt they maybe limit people to sunbeds like with us we only every took 3 or sometimes 2 because our children were in the pool so much.

All in all we did have a nice holiday and met some nice people. We would vist again, maybe not next year yet but we do like the resort.

Just returned yesterday from 2 weeks at this outstanding Viva hotel.
The rooms and public areas are cleaned every day and the cleaners are very polite.Rooms well furnished with all the appropriate facilities. Only down side is the sunbeds being reserved in the mornings. Towels on some until lunch time and still no sign of their owners.Something should be done about this.I get up early at home and actually was first up on holiday ,with nothing to do but tip toe round the apartment trying not to wake rest of family i would go and sit by the pool early with my book and watch all these folk come down bleary eyed and put their towels down then saunter back to bed or something.Only a hand full of people there by 9am.
Location we favour. we enjoy a stroll in the evening down to the marina. This takes about 10 mins down the main road or you can take the coast road passing all the nice beach front villas.
Even though we went self catering we paid for the evening hotel meals each night. These were really good value for money(worked out about 24 pounds a night for a family of 4).The food was good with an excellent choice. Even my 6 year old liked it and hes a fussy eatter.

The 6 animation team work really hard day and night. They are brill with the kids.Something for evryone .Kids day activities good .The Wednesday childrens day very good. From 10-5pm the kids enjoy different activities including a Bufo Lunch. They even put a show on in the evening for the parents to see what their children have learnt in the day.My husband loved the water polo and other activities which included football and pistol shooting etc...

I would recommend this hotel to families with young children and those with kids aged between 8 and 14.Lots of things to join in with.If you wish you can just relax and read with no bother.

The hotel is an attractive, low rise complex with a paricularly nice reception area and helpful receptionists.

Our room looked recently re-furbished with nice furniture and new bathroom fittings.

I would only fault the beds which were so uncomfortable we had few full night's sleep. Also, the air con didn't always work despite ensuring the patio doors were properly shut, making the room hot at night.

The cleaners came much more than they were meant too so our room was always spotless with clean laundry. Fab!

Everyone is right about the sunbeds. Towels on all of them at 7am! (and you can't blame the Germans - it's us Brits). They physically couldn't fit in any more beds so maybe there are more rooms than pool space. Another pool needed?

Loads of kids too so the pool area isn't that relaxing. Every half hour or so, the dogged Dutch and Swedish entertainers take the mike and should out the Pizza Hut Song or similar. Bless 'em!

Table tennis, water polo, rifle shooting etc on offer too so quite fun.

Evening ents dominated by kiddie winkies too so off to the harbour if you don't fancy mini-disco til midnight.

Overall though, a nice, friendly hotel and not too far from harbour and beach. :-)

We have just returned from a 1 week holiday at the Viva Menorca. All we can say is we wish we had gone for 2 weeks as it was really fabulous.

The apartment we had was on ground floor level overlooking the pool and although I have been used to having a sea view on previous holidays, the pool one was equally as nice. The apartments are kept very clean and are quite spacious, with double room and put up in the lounge where my 14 year old son slept. Rooms were cleaned 5 out of 7 days and towels changed on request. There is a microwave but suggest you take your own kettle.

We stayed on half board basis. The restaurant is never packed out as a big majority go self catering so you are never rushed. The food is varied and there is always a reasonable choice of meats/fish/pasta etc. The desserts though are quite repetitive but a good thing if you are not wanting to over indulge! The staff are also extremely friendly. My son knocked his coca cola over one night and they just cleaned it up and brought him another which I though was very nice. However, only from personal choice, next time we would pay for the breakfasts on arrival (the more you buy the cheaper they are) and then eat in the Marina each night which is beautiful where there are plenty of restaurants to chose from and also live music.

The location is a bit out the way as everything does centre around the harbour, but it is only a 15 min stroll. The beach was also next to the harbour, but to be honest there is so much going on in the day at the Viva Menorca with games for kids, teenagers and adults that you never have to move from the complex.
The animation team work very hard and the staff are very pleasant which I found quite refreshing.

There are some spanish and germans but they made up only about 15% of the entire complex. You do however, have to be up by 8 oclock to get a sunbed, but it was not too bad when we visited.

The entertainment - some was watchable but only just. They had two good acts but the rest were a bit hit and miss. However, the mini disco for the youngsters with Bufo seemed to be a hit and was good to watch.

If you like to have plenty to do in the day and want the kids kept entertained Viva Menorca is definitely the place to go.

The only downside for us was it is a lot quieter than we are used to (we normally go to Palma Nova) most entertainment even in the Marina does not run over 12 oclock. But this was superceded by all the other fantastic qualities this complex has to offer and by all the fantastic people we met especially 12 people from Sheffield with whom my son spent most of the week with. If you do have teenages there is a place around the corner (The Big Apple) with karaoke and a disco (but be wanted it is really for teenages) where the adults can still sit outside.

All in all a fantastic holiday and we will definitely be returning but for 2 weeks as one is not enough!!

PS. For all of you who have booked and have had letters regarding the building work. Don't worry you could not hear a thing. We expected cranes and diggers and all sorts but it was just general building of brick walls and plastering as the complex apartments are almost completed. And there is also 3 supermarkets just over the road.

This was the second time we have been to the Viva Menorca apartments in two years and it was another very good holiday.

Located a 10 min stroll from the main harbour area with all its restaurants its an easy walk with a pushchair. The hotel does offer half board but with the choice of restaurants in the harbour we always enjoyed the walk down, a pleasant meal and then a stroll back to the hotel to enjoy the mini disco at 8.30pm and the entertainment at 9.30pm. The kids seem to love the mini disco when they recieve their certificates for the activities in which they part took during the day - from Bufo of course! The eveing entertainment seemed to alternate between that being done by the hotel entertainers and acts on the circuit - it was always very enjoyable. To give the entertainers their dur they worked through-out the day with activities for adults, teens and kiddies (from around 4 up).

The pool is a free form pool with probably enoough loungers for the size of hotel. There was a creeping tendancy for people to do as the Germans do and reserve loungers at 9am and turn up for 10mins at 3pm but it was'nt too bad.

The rooms comprised a twin bedded bedroom and lounge / kitchenette - the lounge sofa making up into another twin bed. The beds were comfortable. The apartments clean, nicely decorated with air con, fridge, microwave, two electric rings and of course that all important HAIR DRYER. It may be worth taking an electric kettle as whilst we had one - our mum/dad did not have an electric one - instead a hob one. We had a cot for our one year old which i was pleased to say was a traditional cot not a travel cot.

Towels can be hired from the hotel - just a refundable deposit to pay and you can change them when ever you wish at reception.

The hotel has a pool side bar / restaurant / ice cream shop and has a range of snacks and meals - take away also being an option.

All in all a very good holiday and we'd go there again!!!

Possibly only down side being that its a bit of a stroll to the beach - but who wants sand in your bits anyway!

our first holiday abroad with the kids.appartment was very clean, towels changed and beds made 5 out of 7 days, floors mopped daily.cooking facilities basic.found a nice family run restaurant just across the road--la oca. reasonably priced food and wonderful coffees. location just away from harbour -about 10 min walk.the staff were fantastic especially the entertainment staff who worked from 10am with the activities, until midnight with the evening entertainment!their enthusiasm was incredible the kids loved all four of them- annika, lin ,humberto and hannah. they even took the kids for a full day so the adults had some time out.we went into cuitadella, to do some shopping, a lovely ferry port with some lovely bars and gift shops. also the place to buy your tobacco to take home. the kids cant wait to go back again. plenty of loungers not many reserved at the crack of dawn!. , a lifeguard was on duty every day, to attend minor cuts and grazes. all the pool and bar staff worked just as hard, at the pool cafe by day and at the bar by night . all the children given diplomas in the evening for the games they won in the daytime (adults got them too!!!) .

First time visit to Menorca and stayed at the Viva Menorca.

We were very impressed by the cleanliness and the layout.

The staff were extremely friendly.

We stayed in block 1.
Air conditioning worked perfectly.
Only slight problem from road noise but the road was not too busy and patio doors kept most of the noise out.

The gardens were well kept and attended to every day.

The room was cleaned 5 times a week with towels changed every other day.

The buffet style food was excellent with different types of fish available each day and freshly cooked pancakes and omeletes avalable for breakfast.

We would say the this hotel would suit families with children.

The entertainment we found to be good some days and average others. The hotel entertainers were always organizing games and certificates were handed out at the kids mini disco for the childrens events

We would definitely return to the Viva Menorca and were sad to leave.

This was our first time in Menorca and we were not disappointed. Beautiful island, small and quiet. The Viva Menorca gives a good first impression and keeps it up. I am VERY fussy (!) and had NO complaints, had read that the air con was rubbish but found it to be fine. The only minor detail was the lack of kettle, but after asking the rep for one the Viva's manager bought one for us! The pool area was clean and the life guard went round leaving 40 mins warnings on people's sunbeds if they were gone for too long. We saw him take the towels off people's beds and give the beds to people who were waiting. This is the first time I have ever seen this done, no matter what the policy states in various hotels.

We ate out every night, found the local area to be disappointing really, no shops to speak of and the restaurants poor quality. Particularly FIESTA, a Mexican restaurant....although more like a fast food chain. We sat down to eat and were thrown our first course in record time...no way was this cooked to order. We were still chewing our food when the main course arrived. And it was not cooked properly. When I told the manager he got really nasty, and said they'd cook it further. As if! I told hom we would pay for the 1st course and drinks and he reluctantly accepted this, we were also told by other people at the Viva of similar experiences. So BEWARE!!!!

Another minor detail but may be of interest, you can't smoke in enclosed places in Spain anymore, not a problem really as most things are outdoors, and you can only buy cigarettes from Tobacconists now. So no cigs from supermarkets etc, in fact you have to go to Cituedella for them now! I went on Sat night and they were shut as they were on Sundays too. Hope this is useful to people! Would recommend the Viva if you like a quiet holiday.

The rooms in this complex were cleaned regularly, towels changed as often as required. The only problem we had with our room was as mentioned in other reviews the "air conditioning" Air conditioning was a major factor in choosing the Viva menorca but it was rubbish after talking to other people on our holiday it seemed to be only the block that we were staying in had this problem (block2). Our children made friends and went into other apartments they said theirs worked fine. We did get some compensation but it spoilt what would have otherwise been a perfect holiday.

The food was great with plenty of choice and the service was very friendly.

The pool was nice but very crowded but only a short walk to the beach. Around the pool they had games for all ages which encouraged the children, even teenagers to mix without making it awkward for them.

Most beach resorts in Menorca are newly developed over the last twenty years or so, and have very little historic culture. However saying this we were pleasantly surprised how clean the Island was, and general very nice. History is best found in the two main cities.

We hired a car and toured the whole Island and was pleased to report that Caln Bosch was the best choice.
Fornells was also very pleasant with enough restaurants and quite bars to fill a 7 day holiday, and set in a picturesque bay.

Viva Menorca despite the name is very good, 5mins walk to the rocky coast and 15 mins walk to the lovely sandy beach nr the Marina. The pool area is excellent and very attractive as are the Palm trees and gardens. There are various hotel activities but these are low key and its up to you if you want to take part, as they are not thrown in your face.

There are several restaurants, and food shops nearby, but we found it best to stroll down to the marina to eat and shop. This is a purpose built marina some years ago, but is very pleasant to walk round day or specially in the evening. We used to Eat or drink sitting outside and watch the boats / holiday makers, which was very relaxing as you can see right round the Marina with all its boats and lights.

Ignore what people say about the beach being small its NOT.(its a bay inlet and can accomodate a lot of people). Walk across the fine sandy beach which is just down from the Marina outlet, over the rocks and in 10mins you are on the next lovely sandy beach. As you walk near to this beach you will find sandy areas in between the rocks suitable for individual family sunbathing. Keep walking on the coastal path for app 2 hrs and you will discover a large beautiful idilic white sandy beach almost deserted as there are no roads down to it.

We would go back as there is plenty to do and see, especially coastal walks. However this will be a while as there are lots more resorts out there to visit............

Viva Menorca is an attractive location for families with young children. The apartments are well-planned and quite spacious, but 'showing their age' a little 5 or six years after the last refurb.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool area get very crowded and contains too many chairs. Poolside food average quality and expensive. Restaurant food (tried once) average, but does not compete well with harbour restaurants which are generally good.

Evening entertainment very poor. Also beware of reserving a 'poolside' apartment as these are very near the stage where it can be noisy into the early hours of the morning.

We stayed in the Viva Menorca on a self catering basis although the option to go half board was available we used the local supermarkets and ate out a the local restaurants.

Our room was cleaned 5 out of 7 days and even though we were happy to re-use our towels they were changed each day. We didn't leave our room till after midday most days and our room was still nicely cleaned when we returned.

The location of the hotel is quite quiet but don't be put off as the marina is a 10 min stroll away with lots to see and do.

Staff were very friendly and as I don't speak a word of Spanish they were quite happy to converse in English. we had one minor problem when the light bulb blew in our bathroom (which had no windows) but this was quickly resolved within 2 hours.

We didn't stay in for the entertainment but often caught the end of the shows on our way in. The entertainment looked well organised and most acts were well worth watching.

My partner and I would definitely visit the Viva again and were very sad when our week was over!

This is the third time that I have been coming to menorca over the past five years, but this is the first time that I have stayed in these apartments.

If I was to fault them the only thing that I could say is that the apartment itself was on the small side, but as we were only sleeping there it didn't make much difference to us as we ate out every night there are so many restaurants on the marina and they are all very good, the marina being a five minute walk.

We stayed in block two which was kept to a high standard
of cleanliness which I myself is very fussy.

The staff were lovely and very friendly and spoke very good English.

The food on the complex was excellent, and if you want you can purchase breakfast and evening meal over the seven days that you stay and as I love my food I highly recommend that you do.

The entertainment was good something going on all the time for the children the little ones love it.

As for visiting these apartments again I would love to go back any time these are the best I have stayed in on Menorca, so roll on next year.

I have twin girls aged 13 and they loved it here.

The first thing I would say is that although we wouldn't totally rule out visiting the Viva Menorca again (provided the price was right), it certainly isn't worthy of the 4 Star/Sun rating given it. I would consider that even at very best it is only worth a 3 Star rating.

Cleanliness around the hotel is reasonable, but although our room was cleaned on 5 of our 7 days, not a great deal of effort was made and the balcony was not touched once; considering the dirt washed off the structure above the balcony during a couple of showers, and mess deposited by some of the sparrows the only way to use the balcony is to clean it yourself.

The room itself was reasonably well equipped (kettle/toaster/microwave etc. for those who may want to cook), but views were of the rest of the horseshoe shaped block albeit with a well maintained garden in the short space between. Balconies have no overhead cover although the structure above them suggests they were intended to, the cover would not detract from any sun that manages to filter into the horseshoe but would be useful for a wet day when the balcony is useless. Size of toilet pans/positioning of seat and cover are not intended for the tall/very tall. The Air Conditioning (which no doubt is one of the items supposedly making it 4 star) was totally ineffective, sensibly patio doors must be shut before it will operate but you would get cooler by leaving the fridge door open! Response from Reception staff was "we have a problem with the air conditioning all over the hotel" (said with a broad smile!).

The satellite TV was a waste of time for the English, the First Choice brochure may say "Limited Channels" but you would still expect to receive at least one station on which you could keep abreast of UK news while readying for dinner or some entertainment on a wet day. In fact the Channel List provided by the Hotel even stated that channel 6 should be Sky TV ... it wasn't, in fact it was a German channel making a total of 6 German language channels including German cartoons for the kiddies, whereas the 2 English language ones consisted of Eurosport and CNN (very useful if you want news and weather for the USA). The missing Sky TV channel (on the hotel's own list) was also reported to reception on our first day and then after no action to the rep a day later; it still didn't exist when we left which is totally pathetic ... I have been in 2 star hotels that had far better TV facilities.

I'm afraid we cannot comment on the hotel food as we eat out for all meals.

For those familiar with Cala'n Bosch the hotel is located on the left immediately after turning left from the main road in toward the town. This means about a 10 minute walk into the Marina area where the vast majority of the shops and restaurants are, although there are a few just across the other side of the main road which are just a minute or two away.

Hotel staff were polite but my lasting impression will be their failure to address either the Air Conditioning or Sat TV failings; the very type of extra facilities that contribute toward their supposed 4 Star rating.

Entertainment is mainly aimed at the children with the only other entertainment being very amateurish.

The fairly large pool and surrounding area with it's bar/cafe was attractive with mostly sufficient sunbeds and a lifeguard.

The rooms were comfortable and with nice facilities. We stayed in block 1 which was on the other side of the road next to the restaurant and away from the entertainment.

The location of the apartments was good, about 5 mins walk from the harbour and about 15 mins walk from the second beach which was better than the nearest beach.

The evening entertainment was not brilliant but you have to give the staff 10/10 for trying.

Do not miss out on trying the buffet in the restaurant it was the best food we had all week.

Hotel staff excellent couldn't do enough for you and very friendly. We are already thinking about coming back next year.

First time in Menorca and started really badly with a terrific thunder storm. Weather aside thought viva a nice place and idealy situated for supermarkets, bus and the marina, beach etc.

Although only two of us, we found the apartment we had really small and would have been cramped if we had children with us, utensils, crocks very basic just one of each.

Didn't like the idea of not having a door on the little room that had the wash basin in so if you were just having a wash could be viewed by all in the apartment! Overall the complex was very nice, didn't use the pool but went to the two beaches was a nice walk.

Entertainement - ok but wasn't an issue as we where out and about every day. Menorca is lovely and you can walk for miles if you wish, is very green and lush would like to go back but to a different area.

We have just arrived back from a weeks holiday at the Viva Menorca, after looking at some of the reviews of the apartments we were expecting them to be really nice, but we did not think they were of 4 star quality more like a 3. The drains were really stinky, the maid service does not come every day and when they do they just make the bed. The pool area is a bit manic with lots of children running around with water pistols, the baby pool is more like a puddle than a pool. We went to the Titanic Park with our 2 year old as it is only a short walk away and has a quiet pool and play area for liitle ones which was much bettar for us.

The location of the hotel is on a busy road which you have to walk to get to the marina which is not ideal if you have small children. The bar and restaurant staff were excellant and nothing is to much trouble, which is more than I can say for some of the receptionists.

The evening entertainment was very poor with the entertainment staff dressing up every night in a different theme, we only saw one alternative act which were flameno dancers which were quite good.

We ate at the hotel restaurant a few nights which is good value for money and the food is good, we also went down to the marina and went to La Marina restaurant which is very good but a bit more pricey.

The beach at Cala'n Bosch was small and quite pretty, but there were cigarette ends everywhere which my 2 year old always seemed to find and it was overcrowded.

We took a bus to Cala Galdana and the sea there was very calm, but again the beach was very very crowded and not too clean. Overall the holiday was Okay but we will not be returning

Arrived home last week from the Viva Menorca and can't honestly believe some of the other reviews. The complex was spotless - rooms cleaned practically every day, bedding changed twice a week, towels changed whenever the room was cleaned.

The rooms weren't massive but were fully equipped. Air con (much needed whist we were there) and satellite tv were both free of charge (we nearly always pay extra for these nowadays). We received a free welcome pack of food and drink on our arrival - tea, coffee, bread, juice, margerine, etc etc which was very thoughtful and saved us having to dash out for basics.

The receptionists and hotel staff were always very friendly. Would definitely recommend the Spanish buffet in the complex on Friday evening - never seen so much food and all nicely prepared and presented.

The only drawback was the lack of sufficient sunbeds around the pool and the constant need for people to put their towels out early, and then not use the loungers for most of the morning. The complex does have limited space around the pool and the only other place available for extra beds would be the grassed areas which the hotel do not seem to want to use. The second week of our holiday fell into the time when the children were back at school and there were plenty of sunbeds to go around so think this is only a problem in high season.

We have just returned from a relaxing break at the Viva Menorca hotel.
We booked with First Choice on a self catering basis.
Would recommend that you take advantage of the excellent value meal deals that can be bought at reception on your arrival - breakfast and evening meal options can be bought and do not have to be taken on consecutive days, you don't even have to take breakfast and evening meal on the same day if you don't want to.. All meals taken are crossed off a card as you have them and the food is excellent quality and very varied.

This is a large complex with nicely laid out grassy areas but these are at the expense of seating space around the pool. There are simply not enough sunbeds for the number of people staying here. You have to get up really early to get a bed (not what you want to be doing on holiday) during our stay the hotel did carry out a policy of removing towels from the sunbeds if no-one was on the bed at the time of their "inspection"
we tended to use the pool late afternoon when more beds were free and this suited us.

The daytime entertainment for children and adults is excellent, water polo, shooting, archery, football etc etc you can find lots to do if you want too.
Night time entertainment is poor, the staff do their best but its just not very good.

Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return another year.

Nice clean hotel, but quite a lot of ants in kitchen cupboards and bathroom, being self catering I opened a box of cereal one day to find it filled with ants.

There is a policy that no one can put towels down before 8 a.m and if they do not return within an hour the towels will be removed, this is not true as people were down there at 6 a.m and if you didn't get there early enough there was not enough sunbeds for everybody so people were sitting on chairs from the poolside bar, which I felt was unfair when you pay a lot of money to go on holiday there should be enough space for everyone.

The daytime entertainment was ok water polo darts football and rifle shooting, the night time entertainment was rubbish, we stayed in the marina most nights at the Goody Goody Park as you can get a drink there whilst the kids play.

The park at the Viva Menorca was quite a way from the pool so nobody used it because you couldn't keep your eye on the kids. In the brochure it says this place is best for older kids I disagree I have a 13 year old who was bored to death, but my 5 year old loved it, nice hotel but I'm afraid I would not return.

WOW!! What can I say about Viva Menorca.

Well firstly the hotel reception staff were very friendly as we first walked into the hotel, we were handed a leaflet which said the prices of even having breakfast for 1 day 3 days or 7 days and the same with dinner and half board.

Our apartment was in block 4 , there are 4 blocks altogether , Block 4 is closest to the reception and blocks 1 and 2 are on the other side of the ride. These blocks are closest to the restaurant which is also on this side of a NOT very busy road. On one side of block 3 is of a pool view and the other is of land .

The pool isnt the biggest of pools but it does its job , the sunbeds around the pool get taken very quickly as most people reserve them before breakfast by putting their towels on them. There is a very nice pool bar which serves food until 4pm in the afternoon. The Entertainers are very good at the daytime activites such as waterpolo , but they weren't very good at the singing on the stage in the evening.

The Reception has seating an area where the First Choice rep sits. The reps at this hotel are currently called Louise and Gareth they are really friendly and helpful.

There are 2 computers in the reception for everyone to use one of which has a webcam. They have internet access where you can talk to friends and family using msn messenger, my son thought this was great, the price to use the computer is 50 cents for 5 mins , 1 euro for 10 mins and 2 euros for 20 mins , these are the only coins the computer will accept.

Downstairs is a supermarket which is quite expensive compared to Bettabuy which is next door near the Titanic park , there is also an indoor swimming pool downstairs with a jacuzzi and sauna to access this room you can get a key from the reception. Next to this room are toilets, free to use washing machines and tumble dryers as well as 2 courtesy rooms to use if you have a late flight home as you have to be out of your rooms at 12pm.

To get to the main centre is about a 20 minute walk on your way you will pass the Nuramar apts and Marinda Garden apts.

The hotel rooms are quite small but are very clean and well furnished , the sofa beds arent the most comfortable to sleep on but they will do. The maids visited our room every day except Thursday and Sunday . The restaurant has great food for breakfast and dinner . I think i have mentioned just about everything .

A Great hotel that deserves to be in a more central location .

We have just returned from this superb hotel.

Although we only booked self catering we had most meals in the restaurant which were excellent. Lots of choice in a spotless environment.

Only a short walk from the marina and the beach which is a lovely place to browse around during the day or evening.

Lovely pool but unfortunately during our stay a little girl trapped her arm in the pool water filters. Seemed to be handled very well by the hotel management and emergency services but please warn your children to be careful.

Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel - Hope to return in the future.

We have just come back from staying at Viva Menorca on Friday for a week.

We had booked to go half board before arriving and we were not disappointed, the buffet food was very nice. Breakfast was every type you could wish for, cooked English, croissants, cakes, meats, cheeses the choice goes on and also the evening meals. There were different choices each evening and of high quality, it was all displayed very well. It was also kept very clean. The staff kept going all the time, promptly clearing away plates and tables and making sure the buffet was always topped up.

The room was very nice too, and spacious and with air con which we were thankful for and fully equipped.

The grounds were kept very clean and tidy even the dead flower heads that had fallen were swept up regularly.

The staff were very friendly and always smiling. They even remembered what drinks we had with our evening meal each night and also at the bar. We found the drinks were very reasonably priced for a hotel.

The entertainment was (let's say) not the best I've seen but they did try. Our son is 13 so wasn't really impressed but there were pool tables, a sand football pitch etc for older kids, so was happy with that.

The pool area was ok but we did find it very difficult to get sunbeds as people were getting to them fairly early and putting towels on them and then disappearing! Therefore we were going out during the day (had a car) and coming back about 6 when a lot of people had left, and still left about 2 hours of good sunbathing before dinner.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

First impressions were very favourable. Arrived about 11pm and staff were very polite & friendly. We opted for private taxi from airport - 1hr, which was booked through travel agent £108 return but worth it so as to avoid going round dropping everyone else off at various hotels - 2hrs. Luggage trolleys available so didn't have to struggle with cases.

Nice outlook over a pond from balcony. One bed appt was very nice & servicable with a/c, kettle, hotplates, microwave, TV was supposed to be able to get Sky news but we never had it although if you understood German there were more programmes available, but who goes on hol to watch tv.

Hairdryer provided, which was OK. Room was cleaned 5 days out of 7 with clean towels left if used ones were left in bath. Sheets changed regularly. Grounds cleaned every morning, gardens tended etc.

Pool very nice with ramp as well as steps. We had breakfast in restaurant first week which was OK but didn't bother 2nd week and we ate out every evening.

The entertainment at hotel was just about bearable when the childrens entertainers were providing it although the teenies enjoyed it but every other night they had 'proper' turns.

Telephones in room I found were quite reasonable although used public phone mostly as cheaper, avoid orange phone booths, expensive. There are two courtesy rooms available so you can freshen up before leaving for airport, these were free with towel provided.

Overall, would recommend this hotel, very child, disabled friendly & will definitely go back.

Visited Viva Menorca with my husband and 11 year old son. Lovely hotel, spacious rooms. We paid for evening meal upon arrival at hotel.

This worked out cheaper than booking it through travel company. The food was nice, not a good choice of desserts. Not many people seemed to go to restaurant, probably ate out.

If you have a family I would say it is a good idea to eat in restaurant. Hotel was very clean. Only downside was when room was cleaned (supposedly) the only thing which seemed to be done was the beds being made.

No cleaning in our room seemed to be carried out the whole time we were there. Location of hotel - nice walk to harbour and restaurants/bars. The entertainment left a lot to be desired, but to be fair, they did try their best but I think with a 4 star rating the entertainment should be better.

Two of the shows were repeated during our 2 week stay.

Visted Viva Menorca Apartments for one week in June.

Really clean apartment and grounds. Staff and entertainers were all good humoured and polite. Lots of entertainment for kids. Mini disco for kids in evening followed by a variety of shows (some by hotel entertainers, some by other performers).

Visited Marina in Cala'n Bosch on a couple of evenings and had one night in Ciutadella.

Had an excellent week and will go back one day.

Rooms spotless, well equipped kitchen complete with kettle and toaster.

Brochure states ideal for older children, our 5 year old loved it. She took part in the activities arranged for her age group and enjoyed everyone she decided to join in with. The entertainment crew were fabulous with the kids and encouraged participation without being pushy.

We had a few meals in the hotel and found them fantastic value and as good variety and quality as in the restraurants around the marina.

If your self catering we would recommend the Spa shop next to La Oca restaurant, 5 minutes from the hotel and has fresh baked bread rolls and croissants first thing in the morning.

The only downside to our stay was that we were in block 4 near to the entertainment stage. If you didn't wish to watch or listen to the evenings entertainment, unfortunately you could still hear it in our room until it finished around 11.30pm.

We loved the hotel, is situation the resort and are already looking to return in September this year.

I booked this holiday as it was a 4* and i've been so terribly disappointed with the quiality of a 3* in the past. The difference was evident immediately. The quality, cleanliness and attention to detail was excellent.

The kitchens had the benefit of a microwave which was a suprise as we had not expected this together with a toaster and kettle. Crockery and cutlery were simply equipped and the only thing we could have done with were deeper bowls for cereal. Maybe pack some plastic ones if your kids like that for breakfast.

The rooms were all double glazed and were very quiet at all times and all curtains had blackouts which aided a peaceful sleep. I use a lot of pillows and when housekeeping saw that i was using a blanket under the pillow they supplied another 3 without being asked.

The gardens and communal areas were spotlessly clean and well maintained. I even saw someone putting shine on the plant pots!

The pool was spotless too. This was a little of a disappointment to me as it did not appear as big and sprawling as the picture online depicted. There were no quiet spots to sunbathe although there was never any problem getting a sunbed. Also, the childrens pool was no bigger than a very small hot tub. Having said that it was pretty and wouldn't put me off returning.

The hotel staff were professional, polite and helpful. The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired and the resident entertainment team worked very hard but only produced very mediocre entertainment. With only a handful of guests staying until the end it proved it wasn't just me thinking the same. However, the professionals shows were very good.

All in all an excellent hotel and resort. I will be booking for next year and staying for longer.

I have recently come back form a stay in the Viva Menorca and I was pleasently surprised by the standard of the Hotel. The staff were very polite and always helped you out with any problems you had. The room was excellent it had everything that you needed microwave, kettle, the usual extra's it also a/c which we found great especially as we had a 4 month old with us and we were very wary going away with such a young child but everything was great.

The entertainment team were great for the older kids, there seemed to be a lot for them to do during the day waterpolo, facepainting.

I have no hesitation recommending these apartments as I will be gong back myself.

We booked self catering, but when we arrived there was a reasonably priced option for us to go half board which we took up for the 2nd week.

The food in the hotel was excellent and was as good as anything that we had tried in the resort restaurants.

The apartments were spotless and we can confirm that the apartments have now been equipped with kettle and toaster - we had new ones delivered to our room on the day of arrival.

We travelled with our 1 year old daughter and the hotel were happy to provide any assisatance they could. the staff were always friendly and had smiles on their faces and the hotel is very professionally run.

The daytime hotel entertainment is provided by the 4 hotel entertainment team which is good. They do need to impove the evening entertainment programme as the hotel entertainment team try their best but are left wanting. They do bring in acts from outside the hotel who are good.

We note from previous reports that the pavements to the Marina were a problem. We can confirm that the pavements were been repaired when we were there and should be much better in a few weeks time.

Stayed in Viva Memorca, late deal with First Choice.

Staff friendly, rooms cleaned six days of the week and were spotless, although there was no kettle or toaster, there was a seperate area with sink and hairdryer leaving the bathroom free. Towels changed every day if left in bath.

Plenty of sunbeds pool fatastic. Reps excellent, organising events etc.

Did not eat in restaurant as self catering. Only down point was that we arrived after 10 at night and restaurant on site closed, bar open but did not sell food, had to drop of cases and go straight to marina for food, would have appreciated if supermarket stayed open late on night of arrival.

Will definitely go back to Viva Menorca again.

We didnt know what to expect as we had never travelled to Menorca before, and we were certainly not disapointed by the Viva Menorca Appartments.

The appartments are situated around a pool/entertainment area that was thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. The apartments themselves were lovely and clean, certainly adequate for the both of us, although a family may find the kitchen and eating area a bit small. We didnt eat at the restaurant although it did look clean and tidy and others who travelled to the same resort said the food was great.

There is a small shop on site, and several supermarkets within walking distance. The evening entertainment was OK especially the traditional singing/dancing, but hotel entertainments arent really important to us.

The harbour area with its bars and shops was about a 10 minute walk away.

We would definately stay there again.

Staff were lovely and on my birthday came to our room with a bottle of wine courtesy of The Viva.We liked the Tapas bar,the Chinese above the Britannia pub,Cafe Balear and the Pizza place. We did'nt like the Mexican(nothing special but not good value).

We are coming back to Cala n Bosch this year as we loved it.Get a taxi to Cuidadela don't go on the bus it may be a few euro's cheaper but with no AC it gets very hot.

Have just returned 2 days ago from the viva menorca apartments and would like to say what a great time we had there. I would definetly give it a 4 star, but even though I knew beforehand, no kettle and no toaster is rather poor. We were a lot nearer to the marina and beach than I first thought, which was really nice, the sea is a beautiful clear aqua. The hotel staff were really good (once you got them to understand you!) and the entertainment was good especially for the kids. One last thing, go on a boat trip, it was absolutley fantastic and visit cuitadella it is something else!

The hotel is situated just on the outskirts of the resort but is only a 10 minute walk to the main resort where there is a busy marina with plenty of restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is very clean and the grounds are well kept. We had a room overlooking the waterfall leading to the reception area. It was perfect for sitting on the balcony watching shows in the evening. The hotel restaurant and pool bar are very good for food.I would definately return to this hotel.

Stayed in this hotel June 2004 and was thrilled to bits with it.

The room was fabulous, bathroom, kitchen spotless.

Swimming pool and surrounding areas were lovely. Palm trees and walkways were all lit up at night.

The entertainment for the children was brilliant day and night.

Only went to the beach once because the hotel provided everything we wanted. Another good point is that the shows at night didn't go on too late, and they didn't have music blasting until all hours, great if you have little ones trying to sleep.

The only bad thing was that we had a wallet and mobile stolen from the pool bar, but it was dealt with satisfactory and we didn't let it spoil a fabulous holiday.

Definitely go back!

Had a problem with patio doors not closing on arrival and they were not too keen to give us another room but I insisted having a young daughter and without air condioning you would die!

Really niggardly not to provide a kettle for four stars -it is not cheap and object to hiring one on top.

Having said that really nice place -I thought pool was good enough and entertainment staff worked very hard during the day to get everyone involved in something - even I played five a side in bare feet on burning sand and enjoyed it.

Evening entertainment at hotel poor fair really - won't suit teenagers nor will the resort but I really liked it round the harbour.

The only tapas bar is superb as is the service and price.
