| said: The Athena Beach.... where do I start.
I'll start by telling you about me so you can gauge my opinion for yourself. I'm a part time travel writer and have a neutral outlook on accommodation and travel circumstances. I'm also passionate about food as a hobby so i hope i can give good advice on this too!
On to the hotel....
LOCATION - Its located about a 5 minute walk to the 'Triangle' where theres a good selection of bars and restaurants. Some good, some bad, and some down right expensive! When the Euro comes in they will all HAVE to lower their prices otherwise European visitors will go places that wont be such a rip off. The harbour is only 15 minutes away (as stated by brochures) at a brisk pace. A nice pace would be more like 30 minutes, although it isn't an unpleasant walk.
ARRIVAL - When you arrive at the hotel, you might be put off by the exterior. Dint worry too much as all hotels along this stretch don't appear to have taken any pride in the front appearance of the hotel.
THE LOBBY - The lobby area is well lit, spacious and provides plenty of seating with the small reception desk just to your left as you enter. The hotel lobby is all marble. Check in was relatively quick with our bags being taken to our room by the friendly porter. Reception staff are polite but can appear miserable.
THE ROOMS - The room was small but has most things you will need. Iron, ironing board, and hairdryer in the main room. Rooms are carpeted as are the halls making them very quiet at night. Decor wise, they are nothing groundbreaking but still comfortable. You have TV which you get a selection of channels in all different languages but English ones are mainly news channels. Rooms have a fridge in which although welcome, is very noisy in a silent room. The bathroom was slightly odd as there was 2 shower units, both working, installed in the bath. The rooms were reminiscent of a travel inn or travel lodge in the UK so although comfortable, nothing special. This advertises as a 4* hotel so I would have expected better in the rooms.
THE POOL - The pool area is very nice. Its bright, clean and pretty spacious. In October there was no problem getting sun beds either by the pool or on the nearby beach. sun beds are actually quality beds with a sponge mat and sturdy metal supports. Parasols were provided on all pairs of beds although we had masses of problems finding ones that would open. the pin you need to keep them up was either missing or didn't reach the hole. The pool is pretty cool and i didn't find any of the pools to be heated despite it being advertised. Later October warrants a heated pool but it was never found. Gardens are well kept, with the grass a little long but thats a small observation. The beach bar was there serving ice creams, toasties and all manner of drinks.
THE BEACH - the beach was man made and entrance to the sea for swimming was via a floating jetty. This drops you into a nice rock free are of sea. DON'T USE THE CONCRETE JETTY - It drops you in the middle of the rocky areas which will result in cut feet! Sand was more like grit really but this is expected for man made beaches. It was kept clean and tidy and provided some stunning sunsets.
TERRACE BAR - There is a terrace running all the way around the 1st floor /reception floor (the pool and beach are at basement level) which offers a place to sit and enjoy a drink with waiter service from early evening. There is also an adjoining bar where the drinks are served. The waiting staff are extremely slow at taking your order and subsequently getting your drinks to you. One evening we waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken and drinks to arrive. They actually never did as we cancelled the order after this time and went elsewhere. We never used this facility again.
BREAKFAST - Breakfast is of a buffet nature and gets massively busy at around 9am. For some odd reason a third of the breakfast room was not set up making getting a table very difficult. The food was OK but nothing special. Some of the cooking techniques left something to be desired! Deep fried bacon? Hotplate omelets? What was a real problem was that hardly anything was labelled so you didn't know what it was. This proved very difficult for the Vegetarian in our party. that aside the breakfast choice was plentiful and offered fruit, continental breakfasts and an attempt at English breakfasts.
LUNCH - Lunch was available at pool level under the terrace bar. This offered a selection of hot and cold food to eat in or take out. This was a lot better than breakfast and was reasonably priced. salads, hot dinners, toasties, freshly squeezed juices and lots more. Staff here were very miserable though. and offered nothing more than a grunt as you approached them.
SERVICE - Service is one of the main things that makes a hotel and is also one of the factors in which it gets a star rating. Service was in no way that of a genuine 4* hotel. When we reported a broken kettle it took a whole day for this to be replaced and even then we had to chase it up. We was left without power for 6 hours and again had to chase this to be fixed. Away from the problems we found the service to be pretty awful too with the staff just doing the bare minimum to keep their jobs. At a 4* i expect to get top notch service and this fell some way short.
CONCLUSION - This is an average hotel and has a lovely pool area and lobby. My main grip about this hotel is the price you pay to stag here. £1600 per couple in October s a lot of money for a substandard hotel, out of season. If i was paying this in mainland Greece, or Spain I would most certainly expect better although I would return to this hotel but not at the price its currently selling at.
I honestly believe reviews can be of some help but can also be misleading. the average rating of 4 out of 5 stars on this hotel review status, in my opinion, is misleading. I've tried to give you an unbiased review with more info than the normal 'this hotel was fab!'. I hope you found it informative.

| said: The hotel is well situated. It used to be the case that the hotel was on the outskirts of the 'tourist' area. However, the immediate area around the hotel has now developed to the point where it is nice and relaxed, while still being surrounded with enough small bars, restaurants, and shops that there is no need to walk the half mile or so into the main restaurant 'strip' leading to Paphos harbour.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and well appointed - particularly the lobby and reception area.
Rooms are comfortable and well fitted-out. Air conditioning works very well. Balconies are very private [completely enclosed style] so there is no disturbance from adjoining rooms. French windows are single-glazed, so there could be some road noise if facing that way [we had a side room so it was very quiet. We had two rooms with an adjoining door - we noted that the adjoining doors have a packing piece of sound deadening foam that is removed [by the porter]when the adjoining door is unlocked between rooms - this is a really good feature as, even with an adjoining door, there is virtually no 'neighbour noise'. Rooms walls are constructed of solid concrete, so there is virtually no noise transmission. Some postings have commented on external cooling/airconditioning 'fan' noise. I think other commenters are mistaken, as I believe the 'fan' noise is caused by the in-room fridge - we heard a [slight] rumbling noise and switched our fridge off and the room was silent.
Rooms and corridors are carpeted, so there is no 'clip clop' of women's heels when you are trying to get to sleep. Similarly, no furniture re-arrangement noise trauma at gone-midnight.
As you will guess from all the above, I like quiet hotels, and the Athena Beach is nice and quiet.
The room cleaning staff are exceptionally efficient.
Food is of a very good standard, especially the cyprus/BBQ nights [we paid to join these, as they looked so good]. The speciality nights, with candlelit tables around the pool are enchanting. The restaurant staff do seem a bit miserable. Breakfast can be a bit hectic.
The bar service is excellent. Half price cocktails every night from 7-8 are very good value. The bar waiters/waitresses are very efficient and friendly.
Entertainment is restrained, but effective. The animation team seem to put themselves around a lot.
Reception staff are very polite and helpful.
The pool area is very clean and tidy. Some of the plastic drain holes did need cleaning while I was there, But I noted they were cleaning these in the last few days of our holiday.
The gardens and beach area are very lush and well maintained - meticulously maintained almost.
There is a very large number of high-quality sunbeds around the pools, gardens, and beach. I used to get up everyday at 05:30 to read by the pool [I was always the first there]. I have not been at a hotel where there were so many sunbeds remained available at 9, 10, even 11 a.m.
No lilos allowed in the pool. This is strictly enforced by pool staff.
Hotel guests seem, on the whole, a mix of nationalities, with British being in the majority. Guests seem well behaved, with all the children I saw behaving well. There seemed a good spread of children's ages, with more 11-16 year olds than I have seen elsewhere, as opposed to infant children.
A new [small] complex of upmarket bars and restaurants has opened opposite the hotel, and this, coupled with the other large-is 4* hotels in the area is making the whole area around the hotel begin to look rather 'upmarket' compared with the older, more hectic areas of Pahos in and around the harbour.
All-in-all a very refined hotel. A nice relaxing place to be, but with enough going on for all ages so that it doesnt get boring.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, tidy & very luxurious. The grounds were well kept & pool & beach areas very spacious.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful, especially when it came to our one year old son.
We will definately be returning to this hotel, if you have young children its a perfect & very child-friendly hotel.
(Sea view room recommended if you can afford that bit extra - its definately worth it)

| said: Another excellent/quiet week spent in a 4 star hotel but one starting to show its seven years of age. The moans include some rust appearing in the bathroom, a strange smell for much of the week - akin to mustiness and lots of ants on the patio, also a leaking kettle which finally blew the mains fuse.
On the plus side were the location next to a decent beach, excellent food and wonderful staff.
The bowling green between hotels was superb value and great fun. Lots of other things to do as well. The pool was too cold to use in late October but the sea was great.
For a rest and relaxing time it was great.
We will visit again. Further comments can be found on my site at http://www.mjmoore.org.uk

We could not have asked for a better hotel, we found the staff to be very friendly and efficient, they even emailed home to Scotland to advise a family member that they had passed on the wedding card that they had sent to us in Cyprus. We held our wedding reception at the hotel and it was perfect.
The hotel is very clean & even the cleaning staff are very efficient and polite. The food was spectacular i have never seen so much fresh food in all my life and it just kept coming.
The hotel grounds and beach were always kept clean and tidy.
A fantastic hotel we will be returning next year for our Anniversary.

| said: Just returned from our 5th visit to this hotel, and again had a lovely relaxing holiday.
The breakfasts are great so much choice, freshly made omlettes pancakes fried eggs and is continually refreshed until 10am.
We have never eaten at the Athena in the evening as we prefer to venture out trying different restaurants in Paphos or up the road from the hotel.
The hotel is cleaned to a high standard, the pool and gardens are very well maintained. There are plenty of sunbeds, as always you have to be up reasonably early for the poolside beds.
We personally like the garden area with a palm tree for shade and its also quieter. Our 8yr old loves the waterslide.
The beach is not brilliant and quite rocky but there is a pontoon from which you can swim from. We have always found the staff to be friendly and any requests dealt with promptly and efficently.
Entertainment is very low key but that is a personal preference of ours so suits us. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into Paphos and the harbour, but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel 80cents for Adults 50 for children.
If you enjoy pleasant surroundings with plenty of outdoor space and a lovely pool area right on the beach then you will like the Athena Beach.

The hotel is in need of some tlc , decor is dated ,entertainment is very poor , vocalist forgot their words! Rooms smelt of damp on arrival . Pool area was clean , a water slide for the kids , paddling pool and a large pool .
Food was very good , variety of choice at all meal times and well presented . We paid for half board on 5 days out of 10 .Staff at breakfast were not friendly , they were not child friendly at dinner either.
I would not return this hotel ,despite the fab pool and food , if the staff seem hostile it makes it uncomfortable !

| said: Hi, I stayed here in April for my wedding, and thought it was great!!!
The food was fab so we upgraded to half board for the 2nd week.
Although there was no entertainment every night they had singers etc to enjoy drink too but most people venture out for walks down the road which is not far.....We had young kids and old with us and we all walked with no complaints... but a taxi is only 4 pounds everywhere so if your feeling lazy.
This hotel is a fifteen min walk from the water park,go-kart centre and 2 mins from the beach.
I found the staff at the hotel very helpful and lovely...they were always on hand if you needed anything.
We had side sea view rooms which were great they were very spacious.
I would totally recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday for all kinds of ages although there were quite a few elderly people playing bingo....just means theres more sunbeds!
There is not a lot for kids to do but they put on DVD everyday for them and play games as well as there is a slide and indoor pool...but lets face it our kids find friends and play.
Definitely check out this hotel I have been abroad many times in 4* accommodation and this is by far one of the nicest hotels.
Also before I go check out the Rimini restaurant it's fantastic!! I had my wedding reception there and they were brill
Have fun....

We originally booked on Bed and Breakfast, but paid a supplement when we arrived at the hotel for half board.
This is good value and cheaper than upgrading to half board with the package holiday operator. Staff were friendly and it was handt having an English receptionist.
Not much in the form of entertainment, although outside gala nights, two in a week, provided some low key entertainment.

| said: This was my first time to Cyprus and I had a lovely stay at the Athena Beach Hotel. We got a room with a sea view which is what we asked for and the room was equipped with an iron, ironing board, kettle and a hairdryer and they all worked. They also gave you robes to wear and slippers.
The pool area was lovely and they have lots of different pools so it does not get overcrowded. They also have enough sunloungers so you never have to get up early to get a sun lounger and they provide towels to use round the pool free of charge.
It is nice that a hotel does not overcharge for guests to buy things and encourages you to stay in the hotel. The entertainment in the evening was good for the 2 nights that we stayed in the hotel and an evening buffet was C£9.
I would recommend half board at this hotel as to eat out in Paphos can be very expensive. The breakfast at this hotel was lovely and everyone that I talked to loved the food here - fresh and nice.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

| said: The Athena Beach Hotel Paphos is a lovely hotel. We stayed on a B&B basis, on arrival we were met and our luggage was taken up tour room, 3rd floor full sea view as requested.
The rooms was immaculate and had everything we needed, fridge, iron and ironing board, tv, hair dryer, tea making, bath robes and slippers, 24 hour room service. It was air conditioned which was essential.
The staff were all very helpful and cheerful.
The dining room was spotless and the breakfast buffet was excellent catering for everyone, the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was good. Fresh crepes every day! Strawberries round the pool were nice and the pool, gardens and beach area were clean and tidy. There were plenty of sun loungers to go around and you could get a beach towel form the hotel so need to pack one.
We did not see much in the way of entertainment as we were out every night.
The location of the hotel is good and the bus stops right out side to visit the harbour and markets. There a some nice bars and places to find a nice meal in walking distance of the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel and will be going back in 2007.

| said: The hotel has large grounds with plenty of sunbeds situated round the pools and in the well kept gardens. Reservation of sunbeds is not allowed so there were always plenty to choose from although there were a few people prowling about early with their towels looking for favourite spots! The outdoor pools are lovely and very clean. The larger pool is a sensible depth all over and is suitable for swimmers and non swimmers. The middle pool is deeper and smaller and we preferred to sit round this one as there were some nice shaded areas. There is a small pool with a water slide.
Try the strawberries at 3.30 round the pool CY£3.20 when we were there - the ones served around lunchtime are not such good value at CY£2.50 as they are minus the ice cream and cream.
The hotel and rooms are kept spotless by what seems to be a small army of staff - they are out early cleaning round the pools and watering plants.
The food is a help yourself buffet at breakfast and evening meal with a wide choice. The food was well presented and hot. At breakfast the choice is huge from cereals, full english with omelettes and eggs cooked while you wait, toast and preserves, fruit, cheese - the list seems endless. You can buy freshly squeezed orange juice as you go into breakfast at CY£1 - try it it's lovely! Evening meal is also buffet style (remember to take long trousers for the men and something nice for the ladies as shorts are not allowed in the dining room at night). The theme nights were great and the staff worked so hard - all the table are put round the pool areas and it makes a good backdrop.
There isn't much in the way of entertainment in the hotel at night but that was just what we were looking for as we prefered to go for a stroll or just sit enjoying the view.
Go for a sea view if you can - if you can't get one through your tour operator just email the hotel and ask if they have one available - this is what we did and we paid the additional supplement when we arrived. This was very easy to arrange and is worth paying for.
All the staff were polite and friendly.
I think this hotel is more suited to couples rather than family groups but this is just my opinion. We would cerainly visit this hotel again.

| said: We visited the Athena Beach in October 2004.
The Hotel was rated as 4 star and had a good degree of cleanliness. We elected to go for the sea view room and I would recommend this to anyone, the views are spectacular. The rooms are adequate with a King Size bed, refrigerator, safety deposit box, iron, hair dryer, air con, TV etc. The Balcony is small(ish) with room for two chairs and a small table.
The breakfast was up to the usual 4 star hotel standard with plenty of choice. We had two meals in the hotel (theme nights), the choice was excellent and the food was delicious.
The hotel is situated far enough from the hustle and bustle of Paphos Harbour but not too far that you could not take a gentle stroll or catch the number 11 or 15 bus to the Harbour or Coral Bay.
The pools and gardens are well maintained and the space available is perhaps the hotels biggest selling point.
The Beach is a bit of a disappointment, shingly sand and a very rocky entry into the water, there are two jetties that you can use if you are confident swimmers.
The staff were in the main very accomodating but there were some who did not have a good command of English and therefore were not very helpful.
There is entertainment of sorts every evening and we found the Barbecue and Greek Dancing Evening to be very entertaining.
I would not recommend the entertainment for the younger generation.
Would I visit this hotel again, a most definite yes.

Location and style of hotel excellent if, like us you don't want much in the way of entertainment and like to be a bit away from all the bars etc. When booking, request and pay extra for a full sea view room, unfortunately we didn't realise this and faced the road which was not as nice.
Pool areas are lovely and the strawberries served for an extra cost in the afternoon are well worth it. Plenty of area to sunbathe, and if someone is annoying there are plenty of opportunities to move!
Didn't eat in hotel any evening, but found some really great restaurants. Breakfast was O.K and pretty much how you would expect for a four star. Although I normally prefer a five star hotel, we had a really great, relaxing week with hot temps and hardly a cloud in the sky.

The gardens are immaculate and are patrolled by security staff to ensure non-residents do not use the facilities and that children are obeying the pool rules (no lilos or too much splashing).
The food was fantastic, great variety, presentation and as much as you wanted. Different themed evenings meant we dined outside around the pool on certain evenings - couldn't fault anything.
Not a beach as such - a pontoon if you wanted to enter the sea, otherwise too rocky. However the pool didn't disappoint. Entertainment was average - available also in adjacent hotels.
It was obvious that most guests had visited the hotel before and returned year after year. First Class!!

| said: It is a short journey from the airport and mainy attractions. The hotel is situated right on the beach. As you walk from the pool there are lovely gardens so you get a choice of sunbathing near the pool, the gardens or the beach. A short walk away will take you to the water sports and i recommend the centre near the amathus beach hotel. It is just a short, cheap bus ride to the harbour. In the hotel you have a supermarket which has reasonable prices. There is also a hair and beauty salon and a stylish gym. You can also find a games room with a computer. Around the hotel there are a few restraunts and a few bars. There is also another supermarket opposite the hotel.
The rooms were of a good size. The one we was in was for 2 people but we managed to fit 3 in with lots of space left over. The bathroom was a very good size with a bath/shower. The balcony was of a good size. THe room came with a mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilites, air conditioning, safe, tv, hair-dryer,etc. The plugs are the same as England. I recommend a pool/sea view on a high floor which you can request by email.
There are lots of swimming pools. One of which is inside. There is also a water shoot which is of a good size and is fun for kids to play on.THere is a big pool which has 2 jacquzzi's in it. The other 2 are a childs pool and a deeper pool.
The food was brilliant in the hotel. In the morning there was a large selection of breakfast.THey ran from around 7-10. You could choose from a fry up to fish and cakes. You can have freshly squeezed orange juice which you have to pay for but its worth th The snack bars also had a large selection of food & drink for during the day. In the afternoon near the pool they would have strawberries, ice scream and cream. It is delicous so try it.
The hotel staff were friendly, helpful. The maids left our rooms spotless when we came up in the afternoons. The bar staff and receptionists were always there to help you.
There wasn't alot of entertainment but there was theme nights but there was none that caught our large family groups eyes. There was no need to worry because there was so much to do outside the hotel. For entertainment outside the hotel, as i am a teenager i recommend the go kart centre which is a short walk away. One day during the week the local market is open you can get from designer bags to pottery. Near the market you can also find shops that we have back here like next etc. The hotel is mainly english people so there is no trouble meeting friends of all ages.
I would definatley come back to this hotel, and would recommend it to anyone. A warning is it gets VERY hot, even in July, and we had no clouds or rain.

| said: The hotel was nice and in a good location with a nice walk into the centre of town. We had booked a superior room and I have to admit I don't think it was worth the extra money. The main thing I believe it gives you is a sea view (which was nice) and an extra large balcony with 2 sunbeds, however the balcony is pretty sheltered and no breeze really gets to it so gets far too warm. The room we were given for a late check-out was not a superior room but was the same size and had the same amenities as our "superior" room. The amenities in the rooms were TV, A/C, Fridge, Iron/Iron board, Safe, Tea/Coffee making facilities.
All of the staff were pleasant and helpful although the service in the bar at night could be a little slow.
The gardens and pool area at this hotel are fantastic. It is a big hotel but there is plenty of space for everyone I don't think I've ever been to a place with so much space.
We only ate at the hotel on 2 occassions. There was a huge selection and the it is all buffet style so you pick what you like, however the first time we ate there we found that some of the food was a bit on the cool side. The second time we went in at 18:30 on the dot when it just opened and the food was hot. As we were there on a B&B basis there was a charge of £9 (Cypriot pounds) which was pretty good and we could have got this cheaper if we had booked for 3 nights in a row.
There was plenty to pick from at lunch time at the main lunch restraunt but it was a little bit pricey for what you were getting so we found the local bars a better option if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful surroundings of the hotel.
Entertainment at night was a bit light. Normally a duo singing ABBA, Bee Gees and Patsy Cline numbers although some nights they jazzed it up a bit. But the prices at the bar were quite expensive to the bars outside and in town.
There is work going on next to the hotel and you cannot really see it, however you can hear it. The noise varied from day to day and didn't really bother us but at the weekend we did realise how peaceful it could be without the dull hammering noises.
There is a bit of a beach at the hotel which is nice to look at from the gardens but it's not a beach where you can walk into the water as its a bit rocky. There is a jetty that you can walk along to get into the water.
All in all a beatiful hotel with fantastic grounds and yes I would go back.

Paid extra for a superior romm (fantastic - extra large balcony) - superior hotel, excellent food, not too far away from Kato Paphos (nice walking distance), staff all spoke perfect english and were always extremely helpfull. Cannot praise the hotel enough. Came home and booked again for August this year and taking all my adult family again in May 2005. Highly recommended.

| said: Stayed in this hotel the hotel is fine not totally what i expected from the reports.
Food ok but I would go b and b and eat out in the other areas surrounding the hotel
As you go out of the hotel to the right there is nothing but 1 bar/1 restaurant/1 bank and 1 supermarket but plenty to the left
The strawberries and cream menitoned morning and lunch are extremely expensive 3.50 daily at lunch???
There is buidling work at the back to the right which was not mentioned and we paid for a sea view and got side sea view
The staff were ok
When getting in taxi order at reception and then when you get in confirm price , most can speak english and they were lovely
Market in Paphos open every day 6 till 1 except Sunday
Water park does not open till May so that was a shame as I had a teenager
The holiday was relaxing and nice
Go to the tomb of the kings, go to the harbour thats lovely
Have a nice time

| said: Fantastic Hotel with great food and Fantastic staff.
The only let down is the lack of entertainment at night in the Hotel.
Great kart track just up the road and also a mini golf course. We found this to be the best Hotel around this area of Paphosand would go back again very soon, the new Hotel being built next door is going to be a superior Hotel to this one (owned by the same people)so can't waight to see what it turns out like.
Take a trip up the mountains and come down via the unmade roads,Very scary.
Had great weather in April two weeks of warm and dry weather, not too hot.
Come here and you will have a great Holiday.

| said: Have visited the Athena Beach for the last 3 years, and can thoroughly recommend it. It is situated on the west coast of Cyprus in Paphos. It sits on a man made beach and is approx 2km to the centre of Kato Paphos. There is a supermarket, restaurant, Bank of Cyprus and Opticians just across the road.
The staff are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Rooms are airy, with tea & coffee making facilities and you also have a fridge. This can be used as a mini-bar on request. However, as there is an on site supermarket, you may find it more useful, for chilling your own drinks. Each room has self controlled air conditioning (but remember to keep your balcony door closed). The rooms also have hair dryers, safe and satellite TV. 24 hour room service is also available. The food on room service is very good and excellent value for money.
There are four outdoor swimming pools and one indoor. The two large swimming pools have Jacuzzis. Tennis courts are also on site and a small children’s playground, with a little slide going into one of the paddling pools. Also on site is a fully equipped gym, sauna and steam room.
The food in the hotel is brilliant. Hot buffet breakfasts, including bacon, egg, sausage, tomatoes, beans,,crepes, mushrooms etc. Plenty of cereals, preserves, breads, and an abundance of fresh fruit. The evening meals are just as good with a table d’hote every evening if you wish, or a choice of nine main courses from the buffet.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely and very good for relaxing. You will always be able to find a nice quiet spot, either around the pool, the gardens or even on the beach. Daytime activities are available if you wish, but not pushed in your face by the animation team.
Entertainment is fairly low key. They do have professional acts once or twice a week, but the majority of nights there is a resident duo playing either around the pool or in the bar-lounge. Drinks are quite reasonable for a 4* hotel. If you are a repeat customer you are given a 10% discount on food & beverages for future holidays, which increases to 15% after your 11th visit. This applies also if you visit one of the other hotels in the group (Pioneer Beach & Paphian Bay). The hotel has many repeat bookers, in my opinion, because of the way you are looked after!

| said: Spent 2 weeks at the Athena Beach in 2 interconnecting sea-view rooms and would return again without hesitation.
Hotel is large but grounds are huge with lovely gardens running right down to a private beach. Sandy beach is kept beautifully clean but is a bit rocky as you go into the sea itself but there are jetties and moored pontoons to allow you to swim easily.
Plenty of shady palm & banana trees in the grounds to keep out of the sun if you need to and pools are very large and spotlesly clean. Beach towels can be signed out daily from the spa (poolside strawberries and cream at 3.30pm are worth every penny).
Rooms are a good size with dressing gowns and daily maid service but a high floor sea view is a must & worth the extra cost. Go B&B as breakfast good but repetitive evening buffet a bit hit & miss and local restaurants are great (Cavallinis Italian is 200m away & excellent but you need to book. Chinese & Ribshack next door also very good). Staff overall very helpful and hotel kept spotlessly clean. Do not hire a car from their recommended leaflets (Shikkis Hire) as they are awful. After taking our Shikkis 4x4 death trap back and getting a refund (just) we used Pafo rentals in the shopping complex next to the hotel - great service and brand new 4x4 (essential for a must do off road trip to Turtle Beach or the Troodos mountains).
Would go back tomorrow & don't worry about the new hotel being built next door - its nearly finished and a long way off and you dont see or hear anything. Eveneing entertainment low key with a couple of Cypriot dance nights and a nightly piano bar but plenty going on in Paphos which is 5mins away on the bus which stops outside the Hotel every 10mins & lots of restaurants/bars in walking distance.
