This hotel has been extensively re-furbished and only re-opened in the last 18 months. A friend of mine who lives not far from Warsaw wasn't overly impressed when I told her I would be staying at the Polonia Palace hotel until she actually dropped me off outside the hotel and she was amazed at the transformation.
This hotel offers several "wow" moments. From the location of the hotel (right opposite the Palace of Culture) to the stunning hotel lobby to the view from your window.
Despite all this, I believe a stay in this hotel would be wasted if you miss out on the experience of dining in the hotel restaurant (Ludowskaya I think it was called). This restaurant looks like it belongs at Versailles ! Tourists occasionally wander in off the streets to take photos of the restaurant.
To the accompaniment of a pretty harpist playing heavenly music in the corner ( I never realised how beautiful a harp could sound when playing contemporary music) the meal was first class.
I'm not a food expert-all I know is if something tastes and looks good then I'm happy. We probably had one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and along with dessert it only came to just under £ 20 per person.
For the price we paid of £ 65 per room for two then I don't see how this hotel can be surpassed in terms of quality for money.

I requested a room with a double bed and a view and that's exactly what I got! The view was of the Palace of Culture and Science and the main downtown area of Warsaw. The hotel was spotless everywhere you looked, immaculate. The rooms were spacious, loads of power points, space to put your luggage, our room even had a balcony.
Considering the view was of downtown Warsaw and could be noisy the double glazing was superb. The room was air conditioned and decorated in modern chocolate and cream colours. We could have upgraded but didn't want to!
The hotel food was special. Breakfast was massive, huge choice, cooked, English, continental, pastries, smoked salmon and even a chef standing by to cook an omelette to order for you! Wicked! We also had a dinner in the hotel restaurant which also serves up your breakfast. The room is so ornate, it takes your breath away.
This hotel was originally built in the 1920's and still retains decor from that era.The dinner was 6 courses for £30.00 plus wine.It was superbly presented and very edible! Silver service was excellent, we felt like royalty here.
The location is slap bang in the middle of downtown Warsaw, about 15 mins from the airport, 500m from the main train station and tram and bus stops right outside the hotel. Warsaw is very walkable too and we walked to the Old Town and the Lazienki Park from the hotel and got a bus back.
The hotel is about 2 mins walk from one of the main shopping areas, Galeria Centrum and loads of shops nearby.
Entertainment was provided by people watching from our balcony and sitting in the Bojangles Bar in the hotel trying out different vodkas!
All the staff we encountered were professional and friendly and just a delight.....I'm sure we'll come back to Warsaw at some point and we'll only stay at the Polonia Palace, it's a 10/10 from us!
