| said: This hotel is in a great location if you like quiet, which we do. We slept very well with just the sound of the Atlantic crashing against the rocks. The beds were very comfortable, the air con just fine.
The coffee and tea making facilities replaced every day. This hotel is a little old fashioned in style and will probably start to look a bit tatty quite shortly and need a makeover, hence the reason for not returning in the near future.
The pool area and sun bed areas were fine, although the main pool is a bit small and was dominated by 9 - 10 year old boys clearly breaking the rules of pool etiquette, parents turned a blind eye! No staff or pool boy on duty.
The food in the restaurant was a bit plain although we not try the al la carte menu, sticking to the buffet instead, so well may be our own fault. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Entertainment a bit cheesy, "lady in red" being belted out by one man band on an organ but you could go into the village just five Min's away for a bit lively activity.
Finally, the view from the sea view rooms are stunning. The sea and rock formations and little beach were delightful.

| said: The Tivoli Almansor is tucked away into a cove so from the road very little is visible. But it is deceptively big, six or seven floors built into the cliffs. We didn't pay the extra for a sea view room, you could have the view for free from the terrace bar or the gardens on either side of the hotel. The room we had was basic but clean. The hotel overall was showing its age a bit, starting to fray gently at the edges. The staff were OK apart from one nasty little restaurant manager. The entertainment team was made up of students doing a gap year, they hadn't a clue. Breakfast was included in the proce we paid (£360 for two weeks). It was self-service and all-you-can-eat, they had everything from fruit and cereals to full fat fry-up. It fairly set you up for the day! We bought some vouchers for evening meals buffet-style for 15 euros each which was really good value, again all-you-can-eat and a great choice of meals (salads, meat, chicken, veggie, oriental).
The hotel was five minutes walk from the centre of Carvoeiro. On the way down the hill into the village were plenty of eating places and bars. We ate out most evenings and never had a really bad meal, just one disappointingly soggy pizza.
The hotel had a very small indoor swimming pool and a larger outdoors pool. There was a tiny gym/suana bit attached to the indoor pool. At the foot of the cliff was a tiny beach but the stairs down had been damaged in a storm so you couldn't actually get all the way down.
For nature lovers, you can adopt your own seagull. There were dozens of them, all intent on getting you to feed them a crisp or nut or bit of bread. They would perch on the railing of our bedroom terrace and stare intently at you. In the terrace bar, they'd actually go inside if it was quiet and steal nuts from the bar.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. There were a large number of golfers and the mix was probably 50/50 UK/German. At the price we paid, it was reasonable. If you paid any more than that, I wouldn't say it was worth the money.

| said: Pros:-
Lovely cliffside setting with wonderful views. Nice big rooms. 10 minute walk into village. Free parking. Air Con/heating.
Cons:-
Some seaview rooms (that we paid £100 extra for) you would have to stand on a chair and lean forwards to get a glimpse of the sea.
Charged for tea and coffee making facilities in room if used.
Charged for use of equipment in rooms (eg fridge and kettle).
Buffet breakfast - underground restaurant dim and dingy and food very basic.
Would never return to this hotel or the Tivoli chain again.

| said: I stayed at the Hotel Almansor and it's lovely there. Sunny everyday!! I loved my stay there and the staff were friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English!! Way better than the guests can speak portuguese!!!! The Hotel is in a perfect location, right near Carvoeiro, so you walking distance from hotel for nights out etc. There are two beaches, one right by the hotel, the other a short 5 min walk. The food was quite good, good range which would cater for everyone, and the restaurant staff are again helpful and friendly. All the staff are willing to help where they can. I recommend this hotel!! There is also staff to look after the children, which they did when I stayed there. I personally don't have any children, because Im 18, but the children who were there when I stayed there were being looked after well, and the staff speak a range of languages to communicate with the children and guests. I loved it here, its fab!! The hotel is clean and has a very warm, friendly atmosphere, and the bar is cool too, great entertainment every night!!

| said: Just arrived back with my three children having spent the half term holiday break at the Almansor. Wow what Fabulous weather every day was sunshine. Good job really otherwise I would have thrown myself off the cliff.
They call us RIP OFF BRITAIN, this hotel was. Children were not catered for I had to pay full price at meals times no children prices for meals and the portions well my dog would have been disappointed.
Mostly used for golfing conferences we felt we were only there to make the numbers up. The staff were rude and unfriendly, the carefree ambience resembled the atmosphere in a mortuary. The hotels favorite past time is over charging you have to check what you are signing for 3 times we were overcharged not pennies but pounds one bill we were charged £15 for three ice creams!!!! It took 30 mins to sort out as amazingly they didn't understand English.
On meeting a very few english people as mostly Germans, they too had been overchanged on serveral occasions think twice before booking as not as describe in the holiday book. Oh well I have got a suntan.
