Just be careful at night if you’ve had a drink, quite a few ladies of the night what pick pockets, very lively still cheap beer,6pints 2quid in some places. Food getting more expensive still cheaper then home though. If you go to khans tent, go an see Harry taxi driver to book it, he drives a vw torrino and is parked outside hotel from teatime, he will ring an book it 4 you. Cheaper then going with tour operator. highly recommended.

| said: This hotel is great. It is spotlessly clean. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. If you are unhappy with any aspect they do their best to resolve it. Food is brilliant lots of choice and all fresh. How anyone can say its repetitive is beyond me. One example of an evening meal selection:- Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Fish, potatoes, chips, pasta and sauces, various veg, salads, freshly made pizzas and garlic bread, a large selection of sweets, ice cream and cheese and biscuits some of the food is cooked at the buffet, always hot.
The entertainment staff were great very friendly I have only rated a 3 because we didnt always stay in the hotel in the evening and dont really get involved in daytime activities, although we enjoyed watching those that did.
The only downside is if you are allocated a room on the back at the hotel as this is the main drag to the late night bars and there is alot of noise until 6 am in the mornings, we did sleep through it most of the time (probably the many vodkas at the pool bar) but those that did raise concerns were moved to other rooms.
Free bottled water is available from reception 24hrs a day. You are not limited to the number of drinks allowed at the bar (most all inc limit you to 2). Although sunbeds are hard to find around the main pool the smaller 'quiet pool' we had no trouble at all up to about 9am - 9.30am

| said: This was an excellent Resort Hotel.
Two pools were great and a brilliant size, all beds on big pool reserved by 7 am but you never struggle for a bed on the slightly smaller pool if you sleep in!
Pool entertainment was good for the kids water polo etc.
Well located for the beach, you just walk out the back gate by the pool and your there.
Free towels which you can change every day by the pool, which meant you can lie on these and use your own good ones for just getting dried off.
Food was good, its never going to be excellent in all inclusive abroad, but no compaints. The only annoying thing is the restaurant manager trying to get me to wear pants or them silly long shorts, after a few nights of harassment and explaining to him that I am on holiday and only have shorts he left me alone after that.
bars were good, you get as many drinks as you like and never have to wait really. Night entertainment wasn't great but you could see the entertainment staff were working there socks off for you so it was ok and they put a few professional show on which were good (Magic acts, dancers etc).
The main night indoor bar air con just doesn't work and it is always boiling hot in there but other than that it was great.
Not sure whether it would be best in a room at the front overlooking the beach or at the back overlooking the street. Overlooking the Beach you can hear the beach bars till early hours I was told but at the back overlooking the street where we where there is only one pub and it is completely quiet by 12:30 - 1:00 althouth the view isn't that great.
We were on the fourth floor and had no complaints.
Rooms were great, nice and clean, cleaned everyday and the air con worked perfectly in our two rooms.
The carpet was strange through, every Holiday hotel I've been in has had tiled floors!
Reception area and bars are really laid out nice and decor is fab for a holiday hotel.
The inside area is very comfortable, loads of couches to relax on and a big screen tv to watch the football on.
The kids had a great time here and would love to go again.
I would definitely book this hotel again and would definitely recommend it, everything about it is spot on for a holiday for the price I paid.

The hotel cleanliness was excellent the cleaners work so so hard, to a really high standard, I dont know how they clean in such heat!
The food was excellent, bit repetative, but of a really good standard.
The location was excellent, right on the busy strip. Although if you get the chance to book a sea view before you book, I strongly recommend you do, there were a few complaints from people overlooking the bars on the other side of the hotel, because of the noise.
The hotel staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We loved the entertainment team especially Ellios, the rifle shooting man! it was his birthday while we were there, and he spent all day in wet clothes, every time he got dry someone pushed him in the pool again! He made our holiday.
The entertainment team worked really hard but some of the nights were a bit lacking like Bulgarian night, but you dont have to stay in the hotel, theres plenty to do nearby.
I would go back to this hotel again, if it were in a different country! We had a lovely lovely holiday but found Bulgaria far too busy for us. As its only 36p a pint in the bars! theres a lot of 18-30s there now.

| said: Stayed for one week with my daughter (19) for a short relaxing holiday.
Please be aware that although this used to be a Riu Palace hotel (and the name is still displayed within the hotel), if you check their website, it has had the 'palace' designation removed from the name.
The hotel is officially 4* but not up to that standard in my opinion. Food was okay, definitely nothing special or up to the standards of other Riu hotels I have stayed in. Also ittle things like the small vases on the dining tables - had extremely cheap-looking dirty, plastic flowers in. It would have been better not having them at all, they were that bad.
It is quite an old hotel but rooms have been updated. We read several reviews before booking and followed advice and booked a sea view. Thank goodness we did. We were given a suite! If you go to the Helios and fancy your chances, ask for room 5156 or 5157 - both suites and with absolutely stunning views right over the bay. Balconies are very small only about 3 feet deep and be aware that rooms on the first floor do not have balconies whatsoever.
Some guests got no sleep whatsoever in the rooms which overlooked the street at the front of the hotel. Even overlooking the pool and the bay, we could hear the thud thud music from the beach bars until 4 a.m. but was loud enough to keep us awake. Some guests at the front of the hotel ended up buying earplugs.
The the public areas are small and the only seating is plastic settees - not good in the heat! The air conditioning was good in our room and the salon bar where the entertainment took place but everywhere else was horrendous.
We arrived to a heatwave and the temperature was over 40 degrees on the first 5 days and no breeze whatsoever. The last couple of days were much better as there was a substantial wind.
Sunbeds by both pools were all reserved by 7 a.m. and the British were as bad as the Germans for this. I looked out over the smaller pool one morning at 5.50 a.m. and there were already towels on some beds!!!!There are signs up stating the usual about the hotel reserving the right to remove towels etc but they turned a blind eye to the practice.
The daytime entertainment programme was okay but the nighttime was very mediocre. There were no professional shows so the entertainment team did their best to entertain the guests. Riu should look to the Princess chain of hotels and follow their example and actually provide some reasonable professional entertainment on an evening.
Although we were all inclusive, we still like to go to the local bars but these were not brilliant either. Not very clean but were quite cheap.
Overall, the hotel is good but not of the standard you would expect of a 4* property. I would also recommend it for the under 30s. However, before we went, my daughter was thinking of returning later in the year with a friend of the same age but even she is having second thoughts now.

I was at Bulgaria last year at Hotel Laguna Park... which was okay but I enjoyed Bulgaria and decided to return and I am glad I did... we had a fantastic time .. On arrival we were welcomed with a glass of champagne and then the porter took our cases to our room, the staff are really nice... the animation team are always working day and night they work really hard trying to entertain everyone they are a good laugh .. Its a great location only a VERY short walk to the beach and also to walk along to the main strip (which means you can still get a nights sleep) everything you really need right at your door step... recommend a pool view its a nice wee sun trap in the afternoon .. Hotel is absolutely stunning very clean. The cleaners work very hard... rooms are beautiful and big and it’s good to see a television that has MTV etc... So you can have music playing when you’re getting ready except beware of channel 7 if you have children after 10 pm... Showers are massive... not much choice on all inclusive drinks (but there never is)... food was nice too... had a selective range when we were there... also had theme nights i.e. Italian... I would definitely return again... I also celebrated my birthday whilst over and I had a chap on my door and the hotel had got me a Riu Helios Birthday note... And at night they decorated our table with streamers etc... Really nice to go out their way.

| said: Arrived early hours of morning, and porter was there with a trolley to take our cases to our room. Given wristbands to wear to show all inclusive, and porter will show you all the facilities such as air con and how to use it when you arrive at your room.
Rooms very clean and spacious, with decent size balcony and chair and table. Good for those with disabilities as there are no stairs, lifts take you to each floor. Shower room huge, plenty of room to shower at least 5 or 6 people.
Food is of good variety, cooked in front of you along with fresh salads and bread. Self service Pepsi, red and white wine and also lager (own brand) at lunch and dinner time. Two sittings for dinner, and you have to see the maitre de to book a table, which is your table to use for each evening meal, but free to use any table for breakfast or lunch.
Entertainment is marvellous, being 25 and 22 we thoroughly enjoyed it!! Things for children and adults alike!
Bulagarians are very friendly and the hotel staff will make you feel very comfortable. Deserves all the 4 stars it has, and we are looking to book another holiday with a Riu hotel!

entertainment was not brilliant.
Hotel in great location bars/shops/beach on your doorstep and all very cheap what more do you want, stood no chance of a sunbed as the towels are put on early morning (same faces on same sunbeds every day sad or what)but we had a brilliant holiday, our last day we found that
restaurant staff where being too friendly and in your face asking did we work/good money etc, as they would soon be out of work did everything but ask us outright for money.
All in all an excellent holiday though and would definitely go again to resort and hotel.

All fears soon went from arrival onwards, we arrived late at night and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was immaculate and when shown to our rooms our view was lovely overlooking the main pool and the sea.
The meals were excellent when catering for so many, and the choices available at each meal were very varied with something for every taste with wine (both red and white), lager and soft drinks on tap. Great to see food prepared in front of you add confidence to your meal. Catering staff more than happy to cook meat etc to your liking.
The entertainment team worked exceptionally hard from 10am to midnight very interactive with all nationalities. Lots of various activities during the day. Bar staff also very friendly.
We have already booked to go back this summer 2007
Great Holiday !!!!!!!!

| said: The hotel is very clean and in a very good location close enought to the centre without it being too noisy unless you end up at the front of the hotel we were told by several people it was very noisy on the front but at the back its lovley especially overlooking the family pool as here you get a sea view too.
The rooms and hallsways are all carpeted so you don't get the endless clip clop of heels at 2am in the morning or the scraping of furniture. The shower is massive you could get several people in if you were so inclined.
The food well i've had better but it wasn't bad it was very repetitive I didn't realise how many different ways you could serve up chicken and beef and if you love chips you will be well suited as there on at nearly every lunch and evening meal times but on the whole the food is ok.
The entertainment is very geared up for families with parrot shows and the animation team miming to music and dance its like spain was 20 years ago the kids seem to like it but as this was our first holiday away without the kids as they've grown up now we found this type of entertainment boring so despite being all inclusive we went to the neptune bar most nights.
The entertainment staff at the helios are a nice bunch and the entertainment they put on through the day is very good theres excersises, shooting, pool bar games, water polo, french boules so theres enough to keep most people amused.
As for the sunbed wars yes they do exsist here with the Germans winning the battle but some of the brits are putting up a good fight I recomend the stretch of loungers between the pool bar and the resturant as it sunny there from quite early till around 5pm in June and its protected from the wind by the shape of the hotel. Across on the other side it gets very windy and I got quite cold there especially when id just got out the pool.
Overall the hotel is brill I would go back if I went to Bulgaria again but I have been in better hotels if they wanted some tips on what a hotel should really be like then they should look no further than the Asteria in Belek in Turkey there all inclusive makes this one look rubbish.

The food could get a little boring, but this is the same anywhere when you go all inclusive.
There was a lovely pub/resturant just across the way near the Bunji thing. Served Smirnoff ice too whhooo!!! It was cheap as chips to eat there. For 3 of us on a 3 course meal came to about £15 and it was the best food I tasted while we was there.
I am a wheelchair user and everything in and around the hotel grouds was great, ramps and lifts and after the first day I was treated to getting my drinks brought over for me.. In the main entertainment bar especially. The bar/waiter staff always friendly although some could have smiled more, mind you if I was working watching other enjoying I would find it hard.

| said: Couldn't fault the cleanliness or location of this hotel.
Maids worked really hard all hours of the day.
The location couldn't be better, being at the top end of the main promenade. Out through the gates turn left and you're faced with loads of shops, bars restaurants etc. If the beach is your thing, straight on after going through the gates and your there.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice everyday. Not repetitive at all even after a fortnight. A friend of mine is a very fussy eater and even she didn't starve. She always found something she liked. The only disappointment was with the snack availability. We holidayed at a Riu hotel in Dom Rep last year and had snacks available in the evening as well as the day. Here the snacks were only available for an hour or so every afternoon and the variety was very limited. In fact it was the same every day. Cucumber and salami or cheese sandwiches, biscuits and ice-cream and that was you lot. As we were on first sitting for our evening meal, this meant leaving the restaurant by 7.30. By around 10.30-11.00 we could have done with a snack (especially after having a couple of drinks).
The animation team were bril, they made friends with everyone and there was a good selection of activities that they tried to get you involved in - but the choice was yours.
My husband is a little reserved and normally keeps himself to himself but after the first week they were calling him by name to come and join in and even had him captaining the water polo team a couple of times. They worked non stop with a permanent smile.
The evening entertainment wasn't so hot but they had to cater for all nationalities. If there was a show we didn't fancy we just wandered into a couple of bars in the resort for a change of scene. You won't believe how cheap it is.
I'd say that this is the best hotel in the resort.
I am reluctant to write this next bit because up until now everything seems bril. There is a big but - Our holiday was spoilt right at the end when we discovered that £90 had been taken from our room.
We reported it to the manager and our rep who seemed surprised. I was understandably very upset and it spoilt a really pleasant two weeks. The money never was found and apparently the maid was the only one who'd been in our room. It was her day off after we complained and we were travelling home that night so the manager never got to speak to her. Please use the safety deposit boxes in reception, we have learnt our lesson.

| said: I stayed at the hotel RIU Helios Hotel and I have nothing bad to say about it. It was brilliant and I enjoyed it sooooo much!!
The hotel was very clean, with maids coming to your room everyday - and if you didnt want them to go into your room, all you do is hang a please dont disturb sign on your doorhandle.
The food was good, with a fair bit of variety, but, like all all-inclusive hotels, it got to the point where it was a bit of the same. That was ok though because the hotel is so near to the town, that you can go out to eat in one of the many resturants out there. And its so cheap yet so delish!
The hotels location is the best, you go out the gates, cross the road, and Hey! your at the beach!! Your near to the town, so its always easy to go out whenever. Plus, unlike many of the hotels, it is quite private so no passer-bys can just look it at you all.
The hotel staff are brilliant and lovely people. They always had a smile on their face, even when they were doing awkward hours. They work so hard for so long for hardly any money :(:(
The entertainment was excellent. During the day, kids, teens and adults had the oppurtunity to join it all the activities, like waterpolo, frech boules and airgun shooting.
And in the evening, there was a show, acted out by 5 people, who are the animation team. They are the nicest people ever and they work 15hrs a day for 500lv a month! Thats like nothing :(
I'd definately would and hopefully will visit this hotel again because its the best one in Sunny Beach!

The hotel was on the best location of Sunny beach. Not so crowded, 50 m. from the beach, no problems with building works/noise. Only a few times noise from the Red Bull bar at the beach. (Only with open window)
Food was fresh, enough choice, well prepared. When you having your birthday there is a bottle of champagne from the staff at you table! Great!

The food is eatable, hot/warm eggs cooked fresh for you at breakfast, a good selection for all adults and children. The cleaning is none stop all day and into the late evening.
The staff are so pleasant,at first I thought it was to good to be true how every one was so happy and pleasant to the guests and one another (It must be the synical Brit in me!)but NO, the Bulgarian people are pleasant and smiling nearly all the time.
The staff can not do enough for you adults or children. The location is just right out of the main door and you can turn left, right or straight ahead for the shops. Go out the huge gates at the back this takes you along the promonade if you turn left We didnt go over into the main venue at night for the entertainment we did however enjoy the day time entertainment activities.
We would all definately stay here again in a couple of years to see how the prices change once Bulgaria come into the common market. As, things are so cheap at present, my relatives brought money back with them. I didnt, because unfortunately I was mugged and robbed while riding along the promanade. I am disabled and use a motorised scooter, and I was punched and pushed over and my bag was knifed away from me. DONT let this put you off from going. This according to the police was Gypseys who come down from the hills, who pick on vulnerable people.
Just be aware and alert for distractions being made to you, or, if you are a disabled person please, please make sure that you have someone walking behind you, and not infront trying to make a way clear.
We would most definately stop at this hotel again.
