| said: We returned here after 2 years and we knew it had been downgraded from a 4* to 3* however the place is still much the same you can see its been taken over and that the new owner have started however its early days yet.
When we arrived we found the room to be clean and tidy and of good standards, however after a week we got locked out of our room twice and there was a problem with the lock so they needed to move us - However to make up for this we were given a suite which was a little tied however very nice and very clean.
Please dont read all the reveiws and worry you will have a great time here however you should ask to be in block 4,5,6 or 7 as the otherside is very noisy.
The staff here are really great we met the odd two or three that were not that good but in general the staff are great and remember they only earn $200 per month around $3 per day for 14 hour shifts.
The food I must say I felt let them down quite badly and I was glad to get home to a nice dinner.
I did however pick up a bug and had this for 5 days while there and still have it writing this reveiw, I have been advised this is a bug I have picked up and not a reaction to the melaria tablets as I thought. The Doctor advied me to not take ant medication and to drink plenty to flush the bug through and I have been given a diet to follow.
I would advise you take lots of sun screen I am very dark skin and normally use factor 0 however I needed factor 8 you burn very fast here even in the clouds.
The Monster Truck trip is a must however be prepared for what you see in the sugar cane this is very upsetting small children with nothing there mums and dad earn $5 per week and they are very poor. We took an extra case full of old kids clothes and toys and it was so nice to bring a smile to their little faces. We took our son for a good lesson on how our kids want for too much when all these kids want is food and drink and not to run around in little if any clothes they love old baseball caps and football shirts. You should give everything to your guide to give out as the kids know the guides and he will stop them from fighting and make sure they all get something.
We found the pool too noisy for us and spent the time on the beach however the kids love the pool and the team around the pool entertain them very well.
If you want a walk you should walk right and you can look around all the other hotels this is a great walk and very safe- However I would advise you dont walk the other way there were reports of locals stealing peoples bags ect and the police advise you to stay clear of this area.
The evening entertainment was very poor.
Overall I would say a great place the Hotel is now looking very tired and in need of some love and attention give Barcelo a year and this place will become even better.

| said: This is a 3 star hotel through and through.
We've been to Bavaro before, and this is probably one of the least luxurious resorts there - but it's also the cheapest resort. So if you go expecting 3 star food, service and rooms then you won't be disappointed.
Buffet was OK, usual salads, cold meats, and hot plates - with live cooking of pastas on demand. Was alot of repitition though, always seemed to be roast beef on cut or beef steaks.
Breakfast was again the usual all inclusive fodder, with the absence of fresh smoothies being made which was abit of a bummer. Egg station for friend eggs etc, toast aswell as the usual bacon and eggs etc.
The all inclusive option isn't 24 hours, and the snack bar serves food at odd times so it's not always possible to eat when you feel like it here, which is against the all inclusive principle in my opinion.
Drinks measures are generous, and serv ed in some bars in full size glasses which is a welcome sight.
Pool was large, with plenty of sunbeds on offer well into the afternoon (even at full spring break occupancy).
If you're going for peace and quiet, this isn't the best place to go as the nightlife can be a little boisterous (particularly during spring break).
I think overall this resort lacks that dominican charm.
If you're going with thomson, DON'T book any excusions with your rep - they are ALL available within the hotel or watersports centre at at least half the price.

| said: I visited this hotel very worried after reading previous reports.
This hotel is lovely, very clean the staff were very friendly and the food was good.
We visited the buffet for breakfast and lunch then we would book into the specialty restaurants each evening. All the restaurants were good, especially the French, Italian and the Japanese
The beach was a 30 second walk away with lovely white sands and clear sea
We had a lovely room and a bottle of champagne on arrival. As I had emailed the hotel previously as this was a holiday for a special occasion.
The pool was huge! Very clean, even the cleaners would get in the pool daily to clean it!!
All staff were very friendly to us.
I will advise that yes you do get a few locals coming to the hotel for the weekend. All I can say is make sure you get your towels out in the morning and just watch any valuables. Nothing to worry about.
No need to take towels with you as you are supplied these for use daily.
Nightlife is OK, not that great but if you are after a relaxing holiday with a late night drink sat by the beech this is the holiday for you!!
Lots of nice cocktails to try...
Please do not worry about the reports that you read.
All in all a very good holiday and I would recommend it to families or couples

| said: My family and I thought on first glance that this hotel looked great with a lovely location.
The room was smelly, damp bed clothes smelt terrible. We had them changed. We all came down with a terrible tummy bug which lasted till we arrived home we couldn’t make use of facilities on site or trips because of this virus and we had to sit near our hotel room to make a quick dash to our loo.
All the hotels toilets were full with guests with the same bug it was horrid the rep told us it was air bound. We complained .about excrement in pool my granddaughter stood on it but they didn’t vacate the pool just waded in with a net and dragged it out! Where is the hygiene in that.
We complained and they moved some of my family to the top floor.
We booked this holiday to be as a family not separated because our children shared the room adjacent to our rooms. Water was coming from the ceiling right near hairdryer.
It was a holiday we saved all year for me and my family it was a nightmare!

| said: I stayed in the Super Breezes for 2weeks. They were very good getting us into our rooms when we first arrived. Rooms basic but ok I would have thought they'd have been better, but still ok. Toilet kept on blocking but cleaner sorted this out everyday.
Pool big and lots of room, the beach fantastic! 2mins away from rooms.
Food 24hrs when one food room closes then another one opens. Good options of food ie; BBQ, pizza,Dom Rep food. The main food room at night changes themes like Dom rep style, Chinese, American. Was good but sick of repeated same food types. Restaurants excellent, Chinese fantastic!!! Must try.
My friend got married here and the wedding was fantastic on the beach.
Only downfall to this hotel was the entertainment, they had a show on 8pm till 10.30pm dancing shows that was good but afterwards nothing. A club opened downstairs but wasn't very good. Need more entertainment around pool and night! Apart from that good!!

| said: To keep it short and sweet.
The beach was out of this world.
The pool was ok, too many people had put towels on sunbeds and gone down to the beach leaving no free beds for those of us who wanted to sit by the pool.
The food in the main buffet was ok. Speciality restaurants were all(apart from the dominican)really good when you manage to get appropriate times and enough seats for the whole of your family.
The staff were ok. There were a handful of staff that couldn't do enough for you but I did find a lot very ignorant.
The rooms weren't too clever either. Leaking air conditioning, blocked toilets. ants on bed covers and patio doors that would not lock were to name just some of the things that we encountered during our stay.
The entertainment. Well ..... what entertainment. It was the worst entertainment I have ever seen.
The highlight of our holiday was the jurasic safari. Thompson wanted $350 but we booked it throgh the people in the hotel and it cost us $150. It was a real good day out these people show you the real Dominican. I
f you do plan to go on the trip take pencils and books etc for the kids there as they really do appriciate them.
All in all I would not go back to this hotel. In fact it has put me off going back to the Dom Rep altogether.

| said: We arrived as this hotel and were checked in really quickly our bags arrived to our room within 2 minutes of us putting the key in the door. The room and hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly.
For the first night we ate in the buffet restaurant which was nice, every other night we ate in the specialist restaurants, are favourite being the Japanese (highly recommend) followed by the Italian.
The staff particularly the pool bar staff were friendly and great with our daughter who thought it was great that she could get a cocktail (alcohol free) whenever she wanted which was most of the time as the weather was superb.
The entertainment wasn't brilliant but the entertainments team worked non stop through the day and putting a show on every night, but it kept our 5 year old amused and as far as I'm concerned if the kids are happy then you are happy!!
I cannot believe that people were slagging this place off. We had an excellent time and would certainly visit it again there was loads to do throughout the day and thats the main thing. The only quirk I have was at the weekend when it was overrun by locals who thought they owned the place and would try to take over the bar, but with a bit of shoving and pushing you did finally get a drink!!

| said: We have just returned from at great holiday at this hotel.
Checking in was a breeze. Coach loads turned up and we were dealt with within 10 minutes.
The room was really nice. We had emailed previously to inform the hotel that it was our 15th wedding anniversary and they gave us a lovely room with pool and sea views with 2 double and 1 single bed in it and a bottle of champers in the fridge. The room was a bit dated and musty but it was clean and the smell went off within a couple of days. The rooms were cleaned by 3pm every day.
The food was great. We only ate at the buffet once which was a bit limited for choice. The other days we ate at the speciality restaurants every night. Just queue up at 9am in the morning by guest services and you can book a table for your evening meal. We had no problems getting in.
Our favourite was the Japenese and French followed by the Italian and Mexican. The service was excellent in all the restaurants apart from the Marlin (seafood and grill) where we never did get offered any drinks, we had to get our own in the end, but the food was quite good.
The pool was great with plenty of activities and the beach was amazing! There were plenty of loungers but not much shade so you had to be up by 7am to bag some.
The staff on the whole were very good and the cocktails and all inclusive Baileys were very welcome.
The kids had a great time, there were pool tables, wall climbing, trapeze and trampoling.
The weather was perfect and we never got sick, all in all we had a superb holiday at a bargain price!

The food was of high quality in all the resturants. We loved the fact that it was literally on the beach front with a fantastic beach area with plenty of sun beds to go around. The pool and surrounding area was also fantastic, the kids loved every minute in it.
The daily entertainment programme suited the whole party with a variety of things on offer and again the staff were very friendly.
We are just looking to book next years holidays and are finding that we cannot locate a hotel that matches up to this one. A fantastic holiday in an brilliant hotel.

| said: Hi All,
I would like to write this review on my stay at SuperClubs Breezes, Punta Cana.
Firstly I would like to say I am a travel agent, I have visited many hotel 4 & 5* in the Caribbean (including sandals & beaches)I feel I can therefore give an honest comparison & I got married at this hotel. Seven adults travelled out.
I was dubious about visiting this hotel as there were such mixed reviews. The programme that was aired just weeks before I travelled really slated this hotel & had me wondering what to expect. Well I would like to say I think the programme was all set up to entertain the viewers - I mean you wouldn't watch the show if it was boring would you?
The hotel was so clean the staff never stopped cleaning up. The maids spent an average of one hour per day cleaning my room - it was exceptionally clean.
Food - A real big effort was made at mealtimes Fruit carvings, sweet trolley, kids section, salad, seafood, hot meats. You could not complain. A wide choice of food available including specialities such as Rabbit & Lobster!! At no extra cost.
We ate in every restaurant during our stay. The French & Italian were my particular favourites & the steak was fantastic here. The Japanese restaurant was very entertaining & we were served by 'Job' he was one of the staff & he was very informative!
The location of the hotel is at the end of Bavaro beach. The sea is beautiful, very little seaweed. We had great fun boogie boarding, banana boats etc - all free of charge from watersports centre.
Entertainment staff worked hard entertaining kids through the day, setting up pool games & competitions & each night there was a show at the amphitheatre.
We had a go in the casino - which was a total rip off & rules were very different from most casinos (Ive been to Vegas) & found this casino was the biggest rip off I've ever been in.
We went to Hurricanes night club a few times to, took part in Karaoke etc. Early on they seem to play all the Spanish music & after about 10pm they start to play English tunes.
Weather was not so good during our stay down to the fact that there were hurricanes either side of the Dom Rep during that time (not the hotels fault) but they did everything they could to make it enjoyable indoors when we had rain etc.
My wedding day - Me & my Mum were booked into the Spa to have our hair done at 1.30pm for my 4pm wedding. However the Spa had double booked & there were 15 people waiting to have their hair done at 1.30pm & only 3 hair dressers, this was my only complaint of the holiday. My hair was finished for 3pm My Mum was very rushed & only left the Spa at 3.45pm giving her no time to do make-up, help me into my dress or even get changed herself - I was fuming!!
Due to the bad weather my wedding was slightly delayed anyway giving them time to set up inside. This extra time allowed us to get ready. The groom had no idea what was going on & I arrived for my 4pm wedding at 5pm!!
I have to say it was decorated very nice with rose petals in heart shapes on the floor, palm trees making our arch, champagne, a Dominican trio playing - it really was nice.
The staff at the hotel I found to be very friendly. The hotel operates a No-tipping policy, the reason for this is because they don't want their staff to offer preferential treatment to any of their guests.
Sometimes bottles of Cava were opened & served at the bar, but it was made obvious it wasn't available to everyone, each time we asked we got the same reply "bottles empty" or "finished" or "gone". We eventually asked one of the bar girls to get us a bottle & tipped her $10 there was 7 of us & she gladly came back with a bottle & another & another & another. Going totally against their tipping policy but it goes to show.
I also left a $10 tip for the maids because they worked so hard.
All in all we had a fabulous time the drinks, restaurants, pool area, entertainment was great & anyone wanting to book this hotel I would recommend it.

The staff are rude and offencive and if you have a problem down right ignorant.
During my stay I had great concerns about the hygiene standards throughout the hotel with particular areas as the pool which had cups, plates, straws, food and faeces.
The pool was in need of general repair the tiles surrounding it were cracked, and the drains near it were blocked, and it was need of a very good clean, as far life saving equipment there are two rings.
The main buffet restaurant Alcazar is full of flies and birds the deficate on food and guests, the food is lukewarm and the quality poor, the service rude and staff generally ignorant.
Rooms need updating and refurbishment cracked tiles, broken doors, toilets not working showers don't work.

| said: First of all check in was very quick for us as we only second in line.
When we got to our room we had found we were automatically upgraded to a kingsize room as we were getting married at the resort which was nice.
We arrived around the time of 19:30pm and when we went to the toilet found that the chain to flush the toliet came off in our hand. We found this funny at first. We rang down to reception who said no problem maintenance will be there in 20 mins. We ended up waiting for three and a half hours for maintenance to come to our room bearing in mind we were seriously jet lagged! We rang down 6 times and went down to them twice everytime we were told twenty mins! We actually got told the second time we went down that he would be at our door waiting for us when we returned to our room, but he was never there. This Dominican time is a load of rubbish, you should either be told twenty mins or two hours, not lied to blatantly.
Me and my partner went to this resort with such open minds and the first week we just took everything with a pinch of salt. Open minds and all that.
We was always ready to eat at 18:00pm so we wanted to be showered and dressed for around 17:30. Our room was never done till around 18:00-19:00 so we had to keep chasing the maids around the hotel after fresh towels so we could get ready.
The Buffet really does begin to get repetetive. Same things every morning. There is a lot of stuff but you cant seem to put anything together. There was mashed banana and onions, banana fritters, banana bread. You name it and it was banana!
We had omelete or pancakes in the mornings.
The first week was quite good, only ever watched one nightly entertainment show which was the saturday night fever which was far too raunchy for kids. (Im not exaggerating either. Men and women were simulating uhum! you know what!
The beach is absoloutley out of this world! It was soooo breath taking. We spent the majority of our time on the beach got up nice and early every day (only because my wife would kick me out of bed).
We did many excursions.....
The first one we did was the horse ride, The El pat ranch. It was brilliant, we did the sunset ride which was two hours. You take a nice slow ride up the beach about three miles away from the hotel and you drink from cocounuts fresh off the tree and then you canter all the way back. Amazing!!
We swam with sharks, yes sharks, there is only three places in the world where you can do this, so we jumped at the chance. It was good although we weren't feeling great.
We did the outback safari, which was by far the best thing we did whilst we were there. It was so educational, beautiful sights meet children at the schools, ride through rivers go up into the mountains and see where Jurassic park was filmed.
We did the catamaran which was where i my cut my foot pretty deep on some glass, (more on that later.)
The second week was when the problems started really, or should I say when we had, had enough or the ignorant staff that took forever to serve you and then served someone who was behind you in big queue obviosuly tippers. We only tipped once the whole time we were there, because they just didnt deserve it! We tipped the bell boy because he bought up our cases to the fourth floor and he was ringing wet with sweat so he had to be tipped.
Bartenders were really bad and not very friendly, a certain lady doesnt ask you what you want to drink she just points at you. I aksed for two pepsi's in spanish and she said one minute. I waited 10, and noticed she was serving others. Plain ignorance.
Some aspects were brilliant, Our sheets were changed everyday and the external maintenance is amazing they are constantly working we noticed one guy cutting grass with a machetti! The gardens are immaculate.
The reservation system changed on the tuesday of our second week. We all recieved tickets at certain restaurants at certain times. We was there for six days and we had only recieved three therefore you was expected on these days to eat at the buffet for you breakfast dinner and evening meal. all times were 8:30, 9:00 and 10:00pm. 10:00pm! i wasnt eating at 10pm. Its all inclusive how can they tell where and when you can eat! We spoke to the manager with an American couple, the manager was not willing to listen. We just wanted to eat at six. She was talking over us. So we started talking over her and it turned into an arguement. You dont argue with your customers.
In the end we got what we wanted we got slips for six when we wanted. We told at first that there was no manager in but when we demanded one we was took into the back office.
Our wedding day was by far the best day we have ever had, it was so romantic and the staff really make an effort then. The day coudln't have been better apart from my bride getting stuck in the lift and being twenty minutes late lol!
The meal was really nice as well, they put in alittle corner so your not disturbed. is was just perfect. You have your own personal waiter for the night.
I know of at least five different groups just in the mytravel lot that got sick. Some having to see the doctor and having to pay £100 for antibiotics. I werent being ripped off so we stuck it out and took plenty of immodium. It wasnt slightly sick either it was like serious diahhorea and throwing up too.
No-one can determine what is making everyone so ill though? An investigstion needs to be done of some sort.
Last of all the catamaran, where I cut my foot.
We was on the MYTRAVEL catamran trip and we was having a great time. they take you up to the shipwreck and tell of all the history and why its there and everything then they take you the east tip of the island where there are no hotels and it is basically remote. We dropped anchor at a natural pool and i jumped off the boat and you sink in the sand among the seaweed and all of a sudden I stood on it. A big shard of glass. My foot was throbbing.
The captain was good he attended to my foot cleaned it up and bandaged it. it was quite deep. Any way the following morning my foot was still bleeding ever so slightly and we went down to reception at 07:30am to as ask for a plaster. They refused to give me one.
They said I had to see a doctor at 09:00 when he gets in. I said there was no need i just wanted a plaster as it was bleeding a little bit. He said i had to see a doctor as a plaster is a form of medication.
Dont't thay have any first aid boxes? I asked.
No you have to see the doctor, he was getting quite abrupt now sow I asked to see his manager.
His manager stood by his collague and said I had to wait. I asked how much it would cost the manager said $50=£25. For a plaster I was mad by now. The manager would not even look at us. When my wife asked him to look at us he got nose to nose with her and shouted is that better. If he was in this country I would have floored him!! I had to get a plaster off my rep at nine in the end.
Well all in all I can say beautiful hotel great beach the managers and some of the staff are diabolical and let the hotel down.

| said: Stayed at this Hotel for two weeks. Holiday didn't get off to great start as we had to wait for our rooms for approx 3hrs on arrival. We had booked two rooms side by side so our two children would be next door. reception tried to put us in rooms in different blocks.
The rooms in hotel are clean and but a bit on the small side if three adults where sharing. The hotel cleanliness is quite good for the size of it.
Hotel looks the part on drive upto it but after a few days you soon realise that there is not much to do.
The location of the hotel is quite isolated. They say that it is an ultra inclusive Hotel but as we soon realised if you want too use Banana Boats and other powered water sport euipment it cost's you.
Another thing that let this Hotel was the general attitude of the staff, women tended to be ignored at bar and unless you where tipping service was very poor.
The buffet resturaunt at the Hotel has a fair selection but did tend to repeat itself on the second week. The al a carte resturaunts are well worth booking as the service and food are excellent.
Entertainment at Hotel for the size is quite poor. During the day most of the entertainment is around the pool area. At night you have a show but apart from that there is nothing to do. Most people sat in the lobby bars if they could get a seat. To get served at the bar you would wait approx 15-20 mins.(Best to order a few drinks)
Another big problem with this hotel is the fact that if you wanted to lounge around the pool area you had tobe up around 0630 to get a lounger & canopy. Beach is a bit better 0715. After this time you will struggle to get either.
As a 4 star plus hotel I have got to admit I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Looks great in brochure but in reality very disappointing.

Room was on the small side for three adults but none the less clean and functional. The buffet style restaurant was fairly clean to start with but as the sittings progressed it became very nessy and difficult to find an empty or clean table to dine at, this is not a reflection of the catering staff, more a case of not enough of them really to cover a 735 room hotel complex at the dinner time peak time.
The a la carte restaurants were of course a different matter, that is if you did not mind queuing up to make a resevation for that night(a good book was highly recommend for this persuit). The bars likewise became crowded and difficult to get served, again not a reflection on the bar staff themselves, although they did sometimes become a little bit tetchy with the rudness of some of the guests.
As for the evening entertainment, it was all a bit samey.

The next morning the sun was shining and it just got hotter and hotter. It was by far the best holiday we have ever had, so relaxing.
The staff were wonderful and very helpful, Juan at the bar was great and if you go ask him to do you a few shots, and don't forget to ask him for a mamajuana. The food was excellent, did not have a bad meal, try the spare ribs at the beach bar and the pizzas at the Italian.
On the beach plenty of sunbeds and shades cause you will need them, make sure you get some cobs from the beach bar at breakfast and go down to feed the fish in the sea, they will come right up to you and eat out of your hands if you let them. Would definatly go back without a doubt.
Recommend trip to Sosua island, and swimming with nurse sharks.

| said: After reading the reports I was certainly very apprehensive about going to this hotel particularly as we were staying for Christmas.
We arrived after flying premier class from Manchester which I will add was well worth every penny especially when flying for 9 hours.
We were given a ground floor garden view room which I would describe as very 'tired' it was in need of refurbishing and a damp smell hit us immediately as our cases were brought down by the bell boy. However, it was fairly clean, there were no bugs, the fridge was well stocked and flowers were left around the sinks.
We tried to change rooms and the staff were very courteous and offered us another but again it was no better than the first one (the holiday rep told us to keep air con on all day and this would get rid of smell - and yes it did).A very tired family of four decided that we wouldn't be in here for that long anyway and decided to stay put an unpack!
As we arrived in the evening my boys wanted something to eat and as the hotel was in full swing we wanted somewhere quiet and only a quick bite to eat. The young girl on the buffet was extremely obliging and showed us to a table out of the way but also giving us detailed instructions on where everything was - fantastic.
After a good nights sleep, on a pillow which we labelled a 'bag of socks' - still we had a good sleep, we had breakfast which was very good, plenty of variety and then had a good look around.
Yes there was areas of the hotel that needed cleaning, but allowing for the fact it is a large place and it was also full (700+ rooms) we saw the staff were busy cleaning the whole time we were there. The hotel grounds were very well maintained. The swimming pool was cleaned every morning, the pool areas were mopped and swept regularly. We saw the jacuzzi and the fountain weren't working but within two days maintenance had sorted these things out.
The bar staff were great (we didn't need to tip to get branded drinks), they were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The waitresses who brought you drinks were lovely, but did have a little difficulty in understanding and often brought you the wrong drink but hey it's the carribbean and you went and just got another!
We found the restaurants all very good, the food was cooked properly, we didn't get food poisoning anyway. The waiters topped up your glasses as soon as your glass was empty and at the end of your meal they couldn't get you a liquer fast enough!
We found the entire staff to be friendly and helpful. They absolutely loved it if you tried speaking in Spanish. My boys were well entertained with the rock climbing and the trampoline. The trapeze was there if you wanted to participate, all were supervised and very safety conscious. We also found it a bonus that you didn't have to pay to go on the pool tables.
The boys had no problem getting served at the bars they loved the kids just as much as the adults. I had a massage on the beach which was fantastic(70$). Something that I liked about the place most of all was if you said 'no' you didn't want to join in or participate in any of the entertainment or pool side games that was on offer they wouldn't push you - it meant 'no'.
The only two things that I had to grumble about really, was 1: the room and 2: the sunbeds definately needed replacing.
Otherwise, this was a great hotel and we had a wonderful time.

| said: Dirty litter never cleared out of garden area, drains smelling, faeces in pool, a lot of rubbish on the beach.
Food all at same temperature lukewarm not renewed even after it had been sat there for hours.
A lot of maintance work in ajoining rooms plumbing, electrics, painting from 8am most mornings.
Rooms not done everyday, bar staff surly and would not serve unless tipped.
Generally scruffy and messy a lot of storage in stairwell of tvs, settees etc.
Entertainment was a bit home grown passable for a hour but not much variation from night to night.
We certainly would not visit again for the money it was a rip off. The hotel was super club breezes in Punta Cana.
