| said: We booked the sister hotel Costa Del Sol Princess which is on the same complex but because it closed early for winter we were transferred to this hotel....how lucky we were! We had a top floor room in Block 6 with a balcony overlooking the pools and the mountains. W
e too were concerned having read previous reviews but our fears were unfounded. We wanted a week's nice chill out in the sun and that's exactly what we got in a fantastic hotel.
We knew about the isolated location so that didn't worry us...there are regular public service buses and reception will book a taxi for you.
The room was lovely with wicker furniture and accessories and nice curtains....the bathroom finished in marble was superb. Linen changed regularly and clean towels every day whether requested or not....we don't get that at home!
The pools were superb and the surroundings kept very cleaned and hosed down every day; the pool bar and pool restaurant provided good refreshments.
As to the main restaurant....sometimes we had to queue to get in which we have never experienced before....however it was never for more than ten minutes so no problem really.
As for the food here....the only complaint was that there was too much of it and you were just not able to try it all! The hot dishes were 'hot' and the choice of meats, fish, cold and vegetarian was superb not to mention all the breads and cheeses and as for the full English breakfast....well! Did we find the food here repetitive? Absolutely not!
Don't know about the prices of drinks because we were all-inclusive but we did feel sorry for the guests that had to pay for every round!
As for trips out we recommend a visit to Rhonda up in the mountains. The trip up through the mountains is brilliant and when you get there you enjoy a few hours having a look around and taking a meal.
We would also say take the hotel courtesy bus to Puerto Banus....have a look round there for a while and then take the water ferry to Marbella which is about a 30 minute trip. A nice walk round Marbella and the ferry back and you still have time for a drink before catching the bus back to the hotel.
For beach lovers this is not the hotel for you as you could not call it glorious sands but we didn't go there for the beach....it just happened to be there and enabled us to have the sea view.
All in all we had a lovely holiday at this hotel which is well worthy of it's four star rating.

| said: Read some of the reviews on this hotel and thought about cancelling.
However, we were pleasantly surprised on arrival. A lovely room in block 2 over looking 2 of the 4 pools you can use.
The pools are fantastic - especially for really little ones as they gradually slope towards the deep end - literally half way in and your still only up to your knees.
The room was fine, clean and quite large. Lovely marble effect bathroom with separate shower cubical and bath.
Food was varied. Breakfast had everything, hot and cold. Some evening food was very good, others not so.
However this is a very personal thing - at least it was hot and appeared to be fresh.
Entertainment was dreadful - same duet every night and then some sort of cabaret act - again a person thing. It obviously was popular as every night was busy (but seemed to suit the over 60 age group - lots of ballroom type dancing going on)- great for them!
Nothing around the Hotel, no bars restaurants.
We wanted a quite relaxing holiday, which this was. Would definitely go back.

Our rooms were adequate cleaned everday. Nightlife was not that good catering for the older ones mainly (55 to 70 )no disco not that we are teenagers that is.
For the golfers among you there is a good and testing 9 hole course about 1/2 mile from the footbridge over the carriageway (pina flags flying)we paid 55 euros to rent clubs and 18 holes.
Don't do the Tangiers trip all beggars and on a set route to make you part with your cash, it's a long hot day starting at 7 O'clock in the morning getting back at 7 at night.

mostly cold and fatty.
hotel main areas clean and tidy.
room was dated and musty.
drains were a big problem, extremely smelly and made you retch.
location was poor nowhere to go nothing to see,
staff indifferent and most understood little english.
would not visit this hotel again and it does not deserve a 4 star + rating from thomsons, i would rate it 3 star only.

| said: We stayed at the Andalucia Princess - we had been here 2 years ago so knew what to expect. The hotel itself is in a beautiful setting, clean and tidy, but feel that they could tidy the stony beach up a little better.
We came back here as it was handy for Gibraltar, Cadiz and most other places around there, the only disappontment this time was the buffet syle meals in the evening, it was very repetitive, it did get quite boring after the first week, so we did not enjoy the food the 2nd week.
Also the location (which we knew about) is a bit isolated with nowhere to stroll in the evening only around the expensive apartments area being built next door.
On the whole it was excellent value for the money we paid we did enjoy it but I don't think we will be going back for a very long time.

| said: This was our second visit to Esteppona having stayed at the Andalucia Sol, sister hotel in April this year. Both occupy the same site and share four beautifully clean pools and picturesque gardens and the hotel is only yards from the beach.
We went half board the firs time and all inclusive the second time. None of us could fault the food - there was loads to choose from and some wonderfully creative salads. Service was excellent and we found the staff very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were bright and fresh and cleaned every day, towels changed whenever. Beach towels provided for the pool. The only fault, if there is one, is the entertainment, but we didn't stay in the hotel at night anyway, peferring to get a taxi down into Puerto Banus.

| said: We went to this hotel at the beginning of August 2005 with 2 other families.
On arrival we found out our rooms were not near our friends who we booked with, we were told to wait 4 hours for our new room with no apology.
Also when speaking to the staff they did not speak very good English. We found the staff in the hotel very sullen and not helpful at all.
Pool areas are fantastic and kept very clean. The only problem being not much in the way of shady areas. Couple of tiles missing (could cause an injury) when spoke to staff about it, they were very laid back, didn't really seem interested.
Food was ok, very repetitive, areas not cleaned very efficiently, by the 4th evening, we went out to eat!!!
Evening entertainment was a bit boring ending at 11.30pm and all lights out in all the bar areas at 12pm. Could not get coffee or drinks at all in our hotel or the sister hotel after midnight.
Definitely need a car as there is nowhere to eat/drink locally. Location of the hotel is very remote. very small supermarket 20 min walk away.
I have been to the Costa Del Sol at least 3 times a year for the last 18 years, and this is the first time I have stayed in Estepona in a hotel.

Wont go back to this hotel, but I must add that the swimming pools were excellent and clean.

| said: Our room was perfect, very clean, well maintained, superb views of the Med, Africa & Gibralta.
Unfortunately the food did not match the surroundings. The ingredients were very poor, ill prepared and badly presented. The restaurant was understaffed and the staff that were there had received little or no training - quite often it was necessary to remove our own plates and dishes etc when moving on to subsequent courses. There was no evidence of any supervisory structure within the restaurant. When dishes ran out there were often considerable delays before replenishments arrived. The soups were consistently boring, tasteless and highly diluted. It is to be hoped that all our fellow guests who expressed their dissatisfaction report their feelings as we have.
As far as location was concerned it was very remote, we would have been lost without a hire car. It was almost impossible to reach anywhere safely on foot.
The bar service was appalingly slow with the main preoccupation of the staff being to get you to pay by cash rather than booking drinks etc. to your room (we never did find out why).
Our opinion of this hotel was heavily biased by the fact that we had previously visited their sister hotel - Gran Canaria Princess where the food, service, entertainment & staff were all excellent. Our experience of the Gran Canaria Princess had raised our expectations but unfortunately this added to our disappointment as there was absolutely no comparison between the two hotels.
The Andalucian Princess does not deserve its 4* Rating

| said: Excellent hotel, clean and excellent value for money! having visited this hotel on numerous occasions, i have enjoyed it everytime!
you do need a car as it is approx 10 mins from any of the main attractions on the costa del sol.
the food is good, not excellent but good for a buffet style rest, with plenty of food! The hotel itself is very clean, lovely rooms and surrondings. It has 4 swimming pools which are very clean and lots of sunbeds - guaranteed a sunbed at anytime of the day!
The staff are generally friendly and the bar staff do like to fill your glass up with spirits, not like the messures you get in england!!
a good hotel if you are looking for quiet and relaxing in the day but if you are planning on a more lively evening and going into marbella or puerto banus, it is only 14 euros for a taxi.
take no notice of poor ratings of this hotel it is definitely one i will and have returned to on numerous occasions.

Food was just great plenty of choice. Hotel wasn't that busy tbh so plenty of room to relax.
But, the evening entertainment I've seen better in working mens clubs. Although, the Flamenco dancers were excellent. Pity they didn't have a live guitarist.
I was glad I hired the car as others have commented it is remote. It's also positioned behind a contruction site which gave us a bit of a shock when we first saw it.
I did have to bite my lip with some of the staff though as some were slightly miserable, but all in all had a great time.
If he just want's a bit of p & q like me then he should find it the perfect place.

| said: We made the mistake of booking the hotel then looking at it on the internet.
The results where not good reading, so we went with an open mind on a Thomson late deal holiday.
Arrived at Malaga airport and tried to convince the rep we had to stop in the other hotel on offer, the Yaramar a gold Thomson hotel in Fuengirola, only every one else had the same excuse so we all set of to the Andalucia Princess. The hotel is in a built up area but only by apartments villas and other hotels, very isolated with reference to life outside the hotel grounds.
Beer was £3 a pint and other drinks were not cheap, you either paid it or went without. Happy hour 6pm 7pm 2 for 1. so every body sits there with two of the same drinks and just before the 7pm bell get out of the way of the bar or you could get killed in the crush.
We couldnt fault the holiday, the sun shone every day the hotel was top class the staff were helpful the food was just right plenty of selecion. Five pools to choose from hundreds of sun beds. A very quiet holiday in grand surroundings and totally relaxing. If you want chicken and chips and a pint of beer for £1 and a walk at night with a variety of enterainment this is not for you.
We like benidorm and the Andalucia Princess but these two places are miles apart in what they offer. Do your home work before you book the Andalucia Princess, its not every ones cup of tea.

Food was fantastic but the drinks were very exspensive and the shops at the hotel were useless.
The location was dire and unless you go on the trips or hire a car you are very isolated and if taking children think again before booking this hotel as there is nothing for them to do also i would say not suitable for the elderly or disabled.
Apart from the food nothing would entice me back as the staff apart from in the restuarant were not very friendly
Entertainment nearly non existent.

| said: Fantastic hotel. Just come back and would definitely go back.
It is in the middle of nowhere with only one or two shops within 10 minutes walk so it's imperative that you hire a car.
Food is unbelievable, the only down side is that the bar service was quite slow and on a number of occasions when a second round was ordered it never came.
Also if you are i'll dont see the doctor. 100 euros for 10 minutes.
Apart from that would definitely go back, ideal for just relaxing by the pool in the hot sun.

The food and restaurant was very good. Bar service was very slow however. Snack bar midday, was good but selection limited. All food and drink was very expensive and only one other bar off the grounds. This was about 200 meters along the beach (turn left out of gates to beach). Prices much cheaper here.
Bus service reasonably good. DO NOT TAKE THE TANGIERS TRIP espesially in mid summer. It was an endurance test!!
If you want an isolated, very quite holiday and have unlimited cash supply this is the holiday for you.

The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none. Not a speck of dirt or rubbish anywhere.
Food was also very good in the buffet style restaurant.Very large choice .Something for everyone.Only one minor comment. The wine list in the restaurant was excellent but not served at the right temperature.Red wine was served far too cold and white wine was served too warm.
If you wanted a really relaxing holiday with very little to do this is the hotel for you.The location is far from ideal.About 6 miles to estepona and not much entertainment.
that aside i would definitely visit again.

We were allocated a fantastic ground floor room (essential with 1 and 2 year old children) which overlooked the pool. The room was spotless and was cleaned daily along with clean towels etc. Pool towels were a godsend with two constantly wet children! Pools were brilliant and very clean.
Service from staff was excellent even when we caused havoc in the dining room!
Would definitely go back for an "away from it all" holiday.
Would recommend Selwo Wildlife Park (5 minute drive away).

| said: Hotel was very clean, our room was upper floor and very quiet; with balcony and over looking pool. Room was very clean, cleaned every day and maid friendly.
Had to pay 20Euro to have bar mini bar stocked (and unlocked) but then this was left unlocked for the rest of the week even empty of mini bar drinks - handy for sweets etc.. Remote control for TV was a 50Euro deposit. Room safe was 3.0 Euro per day.
All the Pools were really clean and no sun beds had towels on them before breakfast! Which was good because you could have an extra hour in bed without having to get up and get your spot for the day. There was plenty of space for everyones liking.
Breakfast and evening food was excellent. Bottle of House wine, bottle of water and soft drink in restaraunt cost 14Euro. From 6-7 there was a happy hour at bar near pool.
As the brouchure said quiet location, exactly what we wanted. Loacated next to beach, beach next to hotel sand and pebbles; 1km either way lovely and sandy (including beach restraunts).
Staff were brilliant - Oh apart the hotel shop attendants that sell newspapers - they were very moody and unhelpful; always shutting for no reason and throwing the change at you.
Entertainment was not bad.
Would love to go back again.

When we arrived our cases were taken by the porter to our room and there was a buffet laid out for us in the restaurant, even though it was 12 o'clock at night. The room was very clean and over looked the pool. The food in the restaurant was very good and it was nice to be able to sit outside at evening meals. The location of the hotel was very isolated but we hired a car and travelled all over the place from the Rhonda to Gibraltar(which is a must for duty free).Marbella was a dream, we have never seen such beautiful cars all in one place. The drinks in the hotel were very expensive but we found a little bar on the other side of the road over the bridge on the residential area called Paco's and 7 of us could drink there all night for about 32 euros which was the price of one round in the hotel. In 14 days my husband and I spent £2000 and our friends spent about the same.Very expensive. The entertainment was rubbish, the same boring duo every night. The staff in the hotel were ok but some of them were very rude.I wouldn't go back.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. You have to cross the death motorway to get to a small supermarket to buy the likes of water and crisps or visit a small pub etc.
The entertainment was poor - the same off key duo performing in front of 20 people.
Food was passable, although the previous nights burgers are served up for breakfast!
The attendants in the small shops inside could do with doing a customer relations course.
On the plus side, the swimming pools and grounds are superb.
Definately not going back there.

| said: We visited the hotel for 2 weeks in April '02. We wanted a quiet, away from it all, relaxing holiday. That is what we got. The beach was shingle and sand, there were no local shops or bars, exactly what the brochure said. There is one small shop about 15 minutes walk which sold essentials. It took 2 hours to walk to Estepona along the beach, a bit of a slog, but worth it. The hotel was spotless, the staff friendly and the food very good with lots of choice. The hotel is set in lovely gardens and being able to use the grounds and facilities of the sister hotel (Costa del Sol Princess) was a bonus as relaxing on beds on the lawns under palm trees is highly recommended. (Especially with a good book and a glass of wine). Local bus service is good and cheap to visit Marbella, Porta Banus and Estepona. Each to their own, but we found the hotel very good! We had a great holiday, our 3rd Princess hotel and would go again.

It was completely in the middle of nowhere situated at the end of a building site the only thing completed I don't think Thomsons should of had it in the brochure. The only good thing about it was it was new therefore everything was new and clean. The food was good and I did not find any of the staff rude.
Car hire is an absolute must. Although the bus service is good and a lot cheaper.(a taxi to Marbella was 30 euros)
If you just want to stay in the hotel 24 / 7 then it will do fine. As all guests are half board then if you get hungry at lunchtime then be prepared to walk a good hike to find the nearest shop.
I was really disappointed with the location and do not think it deserved the platinum rating.
Would definitely not go back there.
It gets my thumbs down.
