| said: This was the most awful experience abroad i have ever had. This is not just the opinion of my travel party, but we had conversations with over 11 families, couples etc who had the same experience. Do NOT go to this hotel if you want to enjoy your hard earned holiday. I was i tears on day 3 trying to book a flight home. Im not a pathetic baby, and I was not the only oe crying. It really was that bad. The hotel food was appaling to say the least, my sister and I were actually reminiscing about school dinners in a positive light in comparrison to the pigs swill we were served here everyday. Ive never seen veg as mushy in my life, literally falling apart if you touched it with a spoon, pink, bloody meat. Completely inedible, people leaving plates and plates of food in the search to find something they could stomach. Most people ended up with a chip butty every night. And as for the choice available, it was very poor. The staff have some very questionable body odours too add. We ended up eating out 6/7 nights we were there which was quite costly, having always gone up to try the food available first. Luckily, we could escape the hotel food but the hotel itself was a nightmare. Yes, the rooms were clean and maids visted daily, this was not the problem. The hotel is designed in a cylindrical layout which causes noise to echo and reach up from the 24 hour lobby bar on ground floor all the way up to the 11th (top) floor. The noise of people coming in and out of rooms at all hours and the echo up the cylinder was unbelieveable. We had probably 2 - 3 hours sleep a night in 20 min bursts. Numerous people would storm out of the room screaming at people to shut up so that they could sleep at 4am , 5 am etc. It ruined the holiday. We were too tired to enjoy ourselves and found ourselves sleeping through the day just to catch up. Hotel staff were unhelpful, unpolite and would prtend to not understand you if it meant that what you asked them to do would mean leaving their seat and not watching football. To be honest, resort holidays are not my thing really and I found sunyn beach to be like blackpool on crack. Full of english yobs shouting, swearing, way way too drunk, fighting, acting lewd. Prostitues everywhere. Cheap and tacky trinket stalls selling the same thing over and over. Kebabs, burgers, chips, pizza. Where was Bulgaria? If thats your thing, fair enough. But seriously, go to another hotel!

| said: This website has a lot of completely opposite opinions to me about this hotel, The worst holiday experience i have ever had here. Hotel was awful! Food was so disgusting, i actually had to spit it out into a tissue (i felt like i was 7!) people leaving plates and plates of food in the search for something edible. NOTHING was edible apart from the salad. The hotel was so so noisy, you couldnt sleep at all. People would storm out of their hotel room and scream at people to shut up talking etc, all night. Got no sleep for a week. I needed another holiday when i got back home just to recover from this terrible experience. Dirty, disgusting. Just dont go there!

| said: This is going to be a long review as I found so many bad things to Write about. First off the Hotel Meridian 4* joke the place is a dump. I have read the other reviews and can’t believe people say it’s clean!
The room was not cleaned all week, yes fresh towels every day complete with holes and stains on them. Bathroom stank of cat wee all the time and the entire hotel stinks of stale fags I am a social smoker but will never smoke again after the stench in this hotel (and all of the bars and restaurants every one smoked) there where stains on the walls and carpets in our room it was filthy.
The restaurant was so bad we went once and my partner threw up after it. There is no kettle in the room so bring your own (best to do so as a cup will cost £1.50 in hotel and bars). We didn’t have a problem with the lifts but noticed a few times they where out of order. We asked for low floor and got the 9th, good job as the low floor bathrooms seemed to be causing a problem. Maybe we were unlucky not to have the maid clean the room I don’t know but after talking to others on this forum I think they have the same views as I.
The public areas in the hotel look ok but the toilets had excrement up the walls with dirty loo roll on the soaking wet floor and the loo seat has what looked like vomit on it the entire week! No one mentioned the hundreds of wasps outside the hotel either. It was awful they went in your drinks and went for people with food. We did not eat the restaurant but to be honest the food looked ok not sure how it tasted though.
On the last 2 nights a big gang of Bulgarian lads came to the hotel and caused a lot of trouble. I was told the DJ-Bingo caller was on the rob and one lad was going to kill him oh he also made a bee line for young girls. The police where there as we left! The Bar is 24 hour so if you’re on a low floor you will get no kip.
The aircon worked but was very noisy. I wasn’t expecting a lot from this hotel but I did expect it to be clean at least, I did not pay much and it was basic that’s what I expected from the reviews but the filth there was unreal. I never had any issues with staff most don’t seem to really like us but I can’t say I blame them with the skanks that come to this resort.
The pool is really small and again I knew this and that did not bother me. The beds do have to be paid for as well. Beach 10 min walk and its 7 lev for a bed then another 7 for an umbrella so for 2 of us that’s £14 a day!! Better to take a towel and buy a lie low weather permitting.
Town 15 -20 mins away. There are a few bars in the area and they are open until about 4am not nice at all. Frankos was mentioned in a previous review my god people ate there!!
The place stank and was dirty the loo was full of flies. Needless to say I didn’t go back there despite being asked every single time to go in by the pushy female tout. The touts where not that bad but did get wearing after a week.
The other surrounding bars where all rough as well.
Right on to SB itself wow! What a dump I knew there would be no culture but did not expect it to be as rough as this.
I like Blackpool and Benidorm believe me this is 1000 times more rough. The bars near the hotel are cheap 40p-£1.00 a pint cheap ish food in town it’s far more expensive in the trendy bars £6.00 for cocktail and £1.50 for half of larger! So you can do it on the cheap or on the dear side.
The bars in town are ok nothing brill and the bands we saw where quite poor. Most bars where quite quiet as it was September I think they may have been better high season. But anything was better than the rough holes nr the hotel.
Now onto the food!!
There are a lot of street stalls selling the following pizza, jackets, hot dogs, chips, donuts, chicken kebabs (tasteless) all cheap but rubbish quality and bland. The restaurants where again rubbish the food is bland but hey it’s cheap!!
The best meal we had was in McDonalds honest!! I am lucky if I have one a year but I had 2 on this trip as the rest of the food was tasteless. They mainly serve is meat on a stick with chips! No veg.
I must say tho the local Kamavra and the salads are nice in defence. We went to Mamchitas Mexican in the centre it cost £25.00 for 2 mains and 2 beers it was worth it to have some taste portions where small tho. We went to this DJannys place everyone raves about! Maybe we where unlucky as mine and my partners food was poor. Oh it’s not opposite the Kuban either it’s to the left of it on flower st where all the cheap market stalls are.
The four towers on the sea front is ok as well, nice chips anyway. So if you like nice meals out on holiday then SB is not for you.
There are shops mainly open fronted selling the following , fake watches, fake jeans and tee,s. fake perfume (at silly prices) there’s only so much fake tat you can look at and almost every shop sold the same rubbish.
There was nothing to do in the resort apart from tramps about all day from one dull bar to another or one rubbish tat shop to another. I don’t think it helped that the weather was rubbish there was thunder storms and rain or it was cold and grey. We had 2 nice days out of 7 (thank god I was only there a week) the beach was nice but full of fag ends! So if I was considering SB I would not go in Sept the weather is too changeable. I did know this but didn’t think it would be just 10 degrees and wet. There was just nothing to do of interest.
We did do Khans Tent £30 each tho and that we booked on resort reps will be more expensive. The food was ok and you get one bottle of wine witch that’s ok as well.
However if you want beer its top prices. It’s supposed to be a folk show, prono show more like it. There was can can girls, Cow Girls and sexy nurses and some bloke doing acrobatics.
The show didn’t start while after 9 and we got there for 7.30 so by the time it started everyone was well oiled. To be honest this was the best night we had
We went to Nessabur that was ok not like what people make it out to be! It’s not a little village it’s a small town full of the same rubbish shops as SB!! And take you life in your hands if you go on the bus. I was assaulted by a German trying to get off it was so packed the doors would not close!
We did have a nice meal there it’s a courtyard restaurant up the top with red lettering can’t remember the name. It was all traditional stuff including pig’s ears and feet in brine! Yummy ha ha.
We had the Kamavara dish and it was nice. I am not a snob by a long chalk but SB is full of rough drunk idiots total scuffs who cant afford a decent place to holiday, sorry I know that sounds bad but you have to see it to believe it. All the decent people I spoke to would never go back! In fact no one I spoke to would go back. The airport is a tin shack and they charge £9.00 per Kilo if you’re over your baggage allowance, funny the rep never warned anyone until all the cases where on the bus!!
We where lucky and where on weight others where not I also think the scales are rigged as well!! So be aware. We did not have any trouble in resort with prostitutes or pick pockets but I know it goes on, we did get the gypsy with the fruit tho and just said no thanks. There is mafia there you will see Porsche Cyan cars with no licence plates and blacked out windows that’s them.
I would never go back to the hotel it’s to dirty and to far from the main town. Be warned go at your peril. Dive is a polite word for this hotel and resort. Never again I was sooooo happy to be back in the UK this has put me off holidays for a long time.

This hotel was great both me & my partner had a fab time.
We were half board and the food was lovely with something for everyone. (salads, meat, fish, chips, potatoes ect)
The hotel was kept very clean and tidy with the maid cleaning our room every day we could go for breakfast and come back and the room was spotless.
Location of this hotel was good about 10-15mins from the main street (flower street) but because we had some of the best place's on are door step we didnt need to go to far.
Francos next door is a must its owend by the hotel and all the staff are very friendly.
It also does some amazing food !
Hotel staff were very friendly and always polite.
We would defently visit this hotel again.

After speaking to others there at same time we found this a common problem.
the fact you have to pay for sun lounges in hotel really annoyed me as this is usually included. for value for money the hotel is what i expected as was a cheap enough holiday.

| said: We stayed for 1 week H/B, and enjoyed ourselves.
Breakfast was fine, with plenty to choose from. If you got your table first, it was laid out for you, but if not, you had to go and look for cutlery etc.
Dinner could be a bit of a hit or miss, but you would not go hungry. We spent last 3 days going out for dinner(so cheap anyway).
All the staff were were fine, except for one waitress who kept pestering us, because we did not want a drink sitting at pool area.
Hotel was very clean, with comfortable foyer area. Lifts can be a nightmare if you stay at bottom and want to go to eat, as restaurant is at very top. Same if staying at top, getting down to bottom, if you want to go out during mealtimes.
We had a superior room, which had plenty of room. Only one chair though, but 3 on balcony. TV with plenty of channels.
Good sized toilet. Wife says to take own hairdrier as handle on one in toilet can get hot.
I have posted some photos in gallery under "Bulgarian Hotels"
All in all a good hotel,
Rooms cleaned every day, towels replaced daily, and sheets changed twice. Pool area OK. Always sunbeds available, but only because they were 5 leva per bed.
Location is fine, at south of resort. Right outside hotel, plenty of entertainment/bars/eating/stalls/beach about 200 yards.

| said: We have returned this weekend from a great stay at the Meridian Hotel. We were a little dubious from the previous remarks left but need not have worried. The location is great, a few mins from the beach and so many shops, bars, restaurants, take aways very close by.
We had a small room overlooking the side enterance to the hotel which was fine for just the 2 of us. The shower room was a little small but then with just us 2 it was clean and adequate for us.
The towels were replaced daily and room was also cleaned then (not dusted but clean enough & bins emptied)
The breakfast was ok, same but such a variety they really could not do much else anyway. The evening meal was a different story, we only ate there once, the meal was warm, adequate but nothing more but with prices cheap and huge variety outside the hotel this is not really a problem.

| said: Hi
Just returned from the Meridian and had a wonderful time, partly due to the excellence of this hotel.
Upon arrival we were allocated an Apartment room, overlooking the pool and looking out towards the sea.
The room was gigantic, a living area to one side with large panoramic windows and an area for me and my wife to sleep in, smallish balcony though. However the bathroon (after reading previous reports was superb, walk in showers, large sinks and pleanty of clean towels on a dail basis.
The hotel is situated in a quieter part of the resort but is only 10 mins max walk from the centre where all happens, with kids this is a godsend as it is quieter at night, that said there is plenty to do and the hotel is joined with The Corner Bar - which is a fantastic place at night - lots and lots of English in there. The hotel food is ok, I wouldnt say brilliant but plenty to choose from and a great panoramic restaurant on the hotel roof to sit in and look over sunny beach.
The Corner Bar and the Burgara (2 mins away) are superb bars, and very cheap. Beer in the resort is anything between 1 and 3 lev for Kamenitza and Wine is the Same.
Back to the hotel - the bar staff and the porters (Stoyan - Top man) are fantastic and great with the kids, the tattooist Micheal is amazing and did me 2 whilst I was there, there were people coming from the other side of the resort to visit him who had been to the Meridian the previous year - he is that good.
All in all a fantastic hotel, could probably do with some form of Night entertainment, however when there is so much to do in the resort - who the hell cares?
We are booking again to go to this hotel in September its that good.
Ohhh i didnt mention the pool - no problems getting round it as they are very conscious on people leaving towels etc and then going off.
Regards
Craig

| said: Hi there.
Just returned from 2 weeks in Sunny Beach, staying at the Hotel Meridian. Not much has changed at this hotel since last year.
The look of the hotel is very European and modern and in a good location. As you enter the reception area of polished floor-tiles, glass and mirrors, a very friendly security guard greets you. The reception area has several comfortable chairs and tables, a 24-hour bar, souvenir shop, hairdressers, tattoo shop, Doctors and Internet room. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful and check in was a breeze, 2 minuets max. A very helpful and chatty porter took our cases and showed us to our room.
The rooms are of average size, with a TV, telephone, and air-conditioning and although we only had three coat hangers, plenty of storage on shelf’s and in drawers for our clothes. The bathroom, which we were told last year were going to be modernised, haven’t been touched, just the basics and very small but they do have a hairdryer. The shower curtain is about 4” (10cm) to short so when you have a shower the water runs off the curtain and onto the floor, there is a sign in reception telling you that this is supposed to happen as they are wet rooms and the water will drain away, this however makes it very dangerous when stepping out of the shower so be very careful. All the rooms have balconies and our overlooked the front of the hotel and the main activity area, but with the balcony door closed you could hardly hear any nose.
There are 4 lifts, two in reception, which carry a maximum of 6 people each, two at the rear of the hotel, (one of which was always out of order), carry a maximum of 4 people in each. The hotel has 10 floors, 25 to 30 rooms per floor, average of 2 people per room, make approximately 500 to 600 guests, with the restaurant on the 11th floor and the lifts carrying a maximum of 20 people at any one time, it doesn’t take a mathematician to work out there’s going to be trouble at meal times. So between 07.30 and 10.00 am and 18.30 to 21.00pm it was almost impossible to get a lift, up or down, some people were telling us that they had waited for 20 minutes. The restaurant is much better run this year, and although the food hasn’t improved, the waiters are much more attentive.
We were only B&B so only had breakfast, which was the same every morning, 3 or 4 cereals, fruit, rolls & croissants and something they called ‘English breakfast’?
The swimming pool is just about big enough for the size of the hotel, but not a lot of sun terrace, so everyone was fighting for the best positions.
All in all this is a very good hotel, very clean, friendly, in a very good position for shopping, drinking, eating and the beach (5min), towels changed every day, sheeting changed 4 times in our two weeks, if they could only improve the bathrooms and the lift problem this would be an excellent hotel.

Everybody there makes you feel welcome and i recomend everyone who enjoys fun to go there. The food was great there and it was very clean the cleaners worked very hard.

| said: Just returned from a week in the Meridien. Very clean hotel, very modern and impressive to look at.
Lifts a nightmare sometimes, you had to wait for ages as they are quite small & are only supposed to take about 6 people max!!
Location great, lots to do.
We ate every morning and evening in hotel, nothing the kids could say they didn't like except don't leave too late to eat as queues!!
Staff very friendly and helpful, Angel still there and is definitely one!!!
Pool a problem, could NEVER get round it although we were told opens from 9am, there were the obligatory towels round earlier than that!! So we used the Arda hotel pool, great, not that busy and no-one questioned us!!
Entertainment??? There was none, only loud music on the reception floor.
Maids wonderful, did a great job.
When we first arrived we were on 9th floor, too high for us so we asked to move & next evening at 6pm we went down to 4th floor all moved by Angel himself, bless!!! Room was a lot better and bigger. Yes the bathrooms are wet rooms hence drain in middle of floor!! Round toilet seemed to leak though but didn't cause us any problems!! Air con a godsend though the way to do it is to leave your silver room number key in card slot when you go out so room is cool when you come back in!!!
Would definitely visit this hotel again.

| said: Ive read some of the reports on this hotel and I'm quite baffled... Either i was staying at another meridian or some people wouldn't know 4 star if it jumped up and bit them on the bum no offence.
So if you are someone who is accustomed to 4 star you will be disappointed.. The rooms were average but the wet room system in the toilets with children was very dangerous and there were reports of leaking toilets etc..
The staff were torn faced and never helpful.. The lifts were always broken and couldnt hold very many... And as there were so many people in this hotel it was a joke.. In fact one lift went through the roof the day before we got there and was out of action the whole time...
The restaurant was on the top floor and wasnt worth going through the hassle to get there the food was rank and the service was shocking dirty tables etc.. The grill chef had a tip tin on his counter which I thought was a bit of a cheek as the food was cold, overcooked, raw and dried up.. So we ate out..
The position of this hotel might suit young people or couples as it is in a central location but this was a draw back for us.. There wasnt an adequate pool area and what was there was overcrowded with just a handful of beds for so many rooms..
I've read that some people bailed out to the hotel next door which we did on a few occasions as well but you dont pay to go to one hotel and have to use the facilities at another...
There were a lot of restaurants outside the hotel but they weren't great and not that cheep either but apart from that not much else to do for families.. And there was a lot of dodgy money exchange scams pick pockets etc going on as well be very careful...
There were also prostitutes hanging around the bar attached to the hotel...this was a 2 star hotel until last year and believe me it still is so dont be fooled... There are much better hotels in sunny beach... In fact there are much better places to visit than sunny beach id never go back...

| said: Could not fault this hotel at all, by Bulgarian standards its definately worthy of the 4* rating. One of the better hotels around and about this area. Rooms spacious and clean. Bathroom on the small side, with a corner shower which an adult can just about manage in. Who needs to spend a long time in the shower or the bathroom on holiday, the wet floor soon dries out!
Lifts do break down frequently, there arn't enough of them unfortunately, so they get over loaded as you can be waiting a while. Sunbeds, it's a shame they don't operate a policy like at the Arda and the hotels around, whereby no-one is allowed to leave a towel on a bed unless they really are using it. Can't believe how selfish some families are, they bags four or more beds before 8 am, and then only use a couple, their kids are in and out of the pool and don't use the beds. Some people just leave their towels out all day and don't use the beds at all.
Food in hotel is fine, there is plenty of choice, there are plenty of restaurants around and about if you want a change. The entertainment is none existent in the hotel, but who goes on holiday to sit in the hotel night after night.
Overall would recomend this place, staff are very helpful and try their best at all times.

Thought I was in the pent house it was so big .it was very clean, maid was very pleasant. Loads of wardrobe and storage space.
The bars round hotel very friendly always spoke and told you to have a good day. Close to beach. Good views from balcony. All the staff very friendly at reception, dining room. Porters helpful with cases. Food ok if there wasn’t nothing you liked there was always chips but still a lot of choice.
Shame about the pool area not big enough for hotel and towels on beds at 7am.but they was trying to put a stop to it on are last day they removed all the towels what was not with any one(hooray but to late for us)mini bar in hotel room expensive. Lifts a bit of a pain kept breaking down. No entertainment, only internet for our teenagers.
Would love to go again!

We only had breakfast there but there was plenty of choice, anyone who can complain about the breakfast is just too fussy.
The location of the hotel is great, plenty of bars and eating places, the picadilly is brilliant, I found the bell boys in reception really friendly, they loaded our cases onto the coach going home.
Entertainment was non existent which is a shame when you have children to entertain.
I would go back to the hotel, but it was getting a little rowdy before we come home, drinks being thrown off the balcony and massive family arguments on one floor at 3 in the morning.

| said: On arriving at the hotel, the check in process was done very quickly, which was just as well as it was almost 2am. However, on opening our room door, a strong smell of damp hit us. We soon discovered that the carpet was soaked! On reporting this to reception, it became very clear that the gentleman on reception at this particular time wasn't interested in doing anything about our problem there and then and we were told to go back to reception later that morning! On doing this, we were met with a much more helpful lady who got the maids up there with a vax to remove as much water as they could out of the carpet, the smell then finally went away once the carpet was dry. (The wet carpet was caused by heavy rain they had the day before be arrived, either the balcony door had been left open or the windows leaked!)
The hotel in general was clean although the pool area was dirty sometimes, and it wasn't cleaned until people were already soaking up the sun beside the pool! The lifts often had dirty floors which were also wet where people get in them with wet feet, so be careful. This is the same with the downstairs floor in some places, it can become rather slippery.
There would appear to be far too many loungers for the room around the pool. This results in everyone being smack bang next to you which can be rather annoying.
We have to say that we really wasn't impressed with the food. Breakfast seemed to be the same day in day out. We can't comment on the evening meal as we only ate in the hotel once as everything we put on our plate turned out to be cold! It's so cheap to eat out though we really wasn't bothered. Forest Hut, next to The Corner Pub was lovely, we almost lived in there! Picadilly, oposite The Corner Pub was really nice as well. There is so much choice in the restaurants.
The location of the hotel wasn't too bad at all, plenty of restaurants around and only a short walk to the beach.
The hotel staff were very helpful on the whole and always done their best to resolve any problems which you may have.
Unfortunately, there isn't any entertainment in the hotel itself and even around the resort, other than the restaurants and bars, there really isn't much going on. The waterpark was good fun though, not very big, but it certainly amused us for a few hours!
Although we would certainly go back to the resort, we would more than likely try another hotel next time, perhaps one with some entertainment.

Entertainment in hotel is non existent, but plent going on nearby, the picadilly is lovely, the staff and the food are outstanding, only decent cup of coffee in sunny beach.
Only problem was the pool, all sunbeds full by 8.00am and beds very close to the pool which makes it unsafe for non-swimmers walking around the edge of the pool.
All in all highly recommended.

| said: Even though we went B&B, we only had breakfast on the last day. There wasnt a great deal of choice by the time we got upstairs, as it took almost 15 mins as the lift (only 1 was working in main reception the whole 2 weeks we was there) was full or went straight past us.
Hotel was clean & the maids came in every day even though some days we didnt leave the room till lunch time.
Staff seemed quite helpful. There was times when waiting for the safety deposit key, the receptionist would serve someone else. But all in all polite.
Entertainment?!? By the time we came back to the hotel, it was early hours & the music was quite loud & usually the same CD.
The hotel its self s well worth another visit. My daughter asked if we was going to book again for next year before we had even finished the holiday. Would definately go back again, even if only to see Tommy, Miro & Ivan in Franko's, who were the life & soul of the holiday, made everyone feel welcome.

| said: THIS IS NEVER A FOUR STAR RATED HOTEL.. and I'd like a few choice words with whoever gave it its rating, after all that is how people in other countries make informed choices to suit there particular needs when travelling abroad.
I can only say that if you visit this hotel after reading my review on your own head be it. I decided as it was Bulgaria and that there hotels have a reputation for being quite poor id go 4 star and avoid being stuck in a hovel for two weeks.
When we arrived at the hotel we thought it was a bit odd that we were parked in a side street but this was the main entrance to this so called 4 star hotel. The rooms were alright and somewhat modern and i was on the 4th floor of a ten story hotel, which was a god send I was to find out later, but that was all that was good about this hotel.
The showers were useless due to the fact that you could only use them for about 30 seconds before they started to overflow in to the rest of the bathroom and with a four year old running around this was very dangerous so I had to shower in little dribs and drabs.
The staff when alerted to this problem could of cared less and in all were as unhelpful as they could possibly be at all times with everyone.
The location of the hotel was a nightmare as it was situated on a main road, this meant that i couldn't let my 4 year old out of my sight.
The road was also only one meter from the pool area which was tiny, this was the only communal area except for the reception area which at best can maybe seat 20 guests and that was were most people going home congregated until there departure, so hence no seats. there was no communal recreation areas and there was no were for my fourteen and four year old to play or have any space to throw a ball etc.
The sun beds were another nightmare there were 50 beds for 500 rooms and I would have made an effort to put my towel down at 2 in the morning if it had been worth it but the pool area was unpassable for anyone, and you had no chance if you were not stable on your feet or with a pram as there was no space between beds or space between the pool and the beds for that matter.
The food was also hell if you ever did manage to get up to the restaurant which is on the 10th floor and as the lifts were tiny and would only take four in two of them and six in the other one that was working you were really annoyed by the time you got up there. keep in mind they are advertising this as a four star hotel.
I've never had service so poor in any other hotel in my life and I've travelled the world, the plates were the size of a side plate and that was for your main course they were dirty and if you didn't get up for dinner early you were then left to set your own table cutlery and all, while waiting staff stood around doing nothing. And to top it all the choice of food was hardly worth the effort of getting there, I like continental food and so do my children but we were left with undercooked and sometimes gone off slop most of the time we only ate a little desert ice cream etc we did go for breakfast and again manky tables and setting them yourself. But it was eggs eggs and more eggs and toast that took 2 weeks to get toasted, but the breakfast in the restaurants outside the hotel were just as bad and no way was I paying twice for the same crap. We ate out for the rest of our meals and as we hadn't budgeted for that it was an extra expense that I could of done without not to mention the hassle of going out to eat every night and the food outside wasn't that great or that cheap either.
We also had two days of hard rain that totally soaked my room and I spent the whole day trying to ebb the flow of the water coming through my windows and ceiling. And after all this chaos and inconvenience there was no apology or any recompense from the hotel or reps, infact it was our children that helped bail the water out of reception without even a thank you. My cleaner was great and she did get a nice tip when we left as we are always a bit messy on holiday and she and the rest of the cleaners were the only members of staff that was pleasant and at all helpfull... there are however a few good hotels in Sunny Beach the Iberostar and the Globus were two that got good reports from people I knew staying in them but there were a lot of complaints from people on my flight home about lots of hotels beware...

| said: On our arrival at 6.00am we were told that they hadn't a room for us and was sent to the Arda behind which was a real dive. Came back at 1.00pm and was given our room, every time we had a shower the bathroom floor flooded so we were wading in water. I was put in a room surrounded by groups of lads who came home at 4.00am and shouted, threw up etc outside my door, after complaining for five days I got moved.
Pool area very slippy loads of kids including mine fell over and banged their heads, after we had a storm on the Sunday. The pool was closed for 2 days because of glass in it. When it was reopened I found glass still in pool and reported it and the receptionist shrugged her shoulders and dealt with someone else.
Breakfast was good just a bit repetitive.
Lifts broke down regularly, maid hardly cleaned room at all.
Met a lovely guy called Jacky who works for the pub outside, really friendly took a shine to my son even came in the pool to teach him to swim, which was great.
Won't be visiting this hotel next year has gone down hill from last year, pity really because its in a great location.
We ate out every nite in the National just over road from hotel, Miko who greats you outside, or Mr Baywatch as he likes to called! is fantastic.

All staff very friendly and very helpful. The girls in the bar at the back of the hotel are great as is Jackie who greets you when you go for a drink.
Cannot really comment on food as we ate out every day had breakfast once which I found to be good.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely go back.

| said: The hotel is a gemit certainly lives up to the description in the brochure. We were H/Board,and after reading some of the reviews, we expected the standard of the food to be poor. Nothing could be further from the truth!!
There were plenty of salads, vegetables, fresh fruit as well as piping hot stuff like potatoes, pasta and rice, meats and fish.
Breakfast was the usual european fare, but all perfectly acceptable.
The Meridien is very clean and there are armies of staff to make it so,they are good at there job.
The location is perfect with lots of restaurant/pubs,right on the "doorstep", if you do get the chance I recommend the Picadilly, I loved the Pork Spindle and the steaks are fabulous. Although to be truthful we never had a poor meal at any restaurant.
There is a bar right next to the hotel Alviso (think) the cocktails there are the best (wife)also try Khans Tent or a gypsy evening at Juzhni Noshti the back of the hotel, but be careful crossing the road it is horrendous.
We had to get out at night cos there is no entertainment in the hotel. The only real critisism and it is nothing really is that some of the food, which is laid out buffet style, was not labelled.
Some guests looked at it as if they had been personally insulted.I would also say that the pool is only just big enough for the size of the hotel and the adjacent sunbathing areas soon get full, but the beach is only about 500 metres away.
We all loved the country the resort and the hotel and intend going there again.

The food wasn't great, but there was plenty choice and it was edible so it wasn't that bad. The only thing we found wrong with the hotel was the glass lifts in the lobby.
They always seemed to be breaking down. On our last day there, one of them malfunctioned and flew upwards to the top floor over shot the floor level and hit the ceiling cracking all the glass and causing a huge bang, no one was in the lift at the time which was a blessing.
Don't let this put you off though as there are enclosed lifts aswell and there were never any problems with those.

| said: Just returned from the Meredian Hotel in Sunny Beach. Overall the hotel was very good. Bit shocked with the shower as it didnt seem to have any drainage and the water just came out of the tray straight onto the floor. The food was good. Always varied and a good choice at breakfast and dinner. At the beginning of the week it seemed a bit of a shambles in the restaurant but by the end of our week the management really had sorted it out.
Whatever you do Please do not change money in the street. My boyfried did it and so did a few other people we talked to and they were given dodgy notes. Stick to the Crown kiosks. The men doing it work in pairs and are really pushy. Whatever happens do not let them talk you into doing this. They stand outside the hotel and nobody including the police seem to have any power to stop them.
It was only this and the fact that they have grizzly bears being dragged around in the street outside the hotel to beg that put a damper on the hotel and the resort.
Wonderful beaches.

On the whole very nice hotel,We had a huge room with lots of storage. Very small balcony overlooking the main street (plenty to watch!)
Main downfall was the very small bathroom with a corner shower with a curtain. The floor was swimming after use and very dangerous,(there was drainage in the floor)but then again how long do u spend in there?
Breakfast was ok, usual cereals, fruit, fry ups, pancakes.Evening meal was a bit bland but we didnt go hungry.
Good location, 5mins to beach and resort centre
Staff were on the whole quiet, and entertainment was non existant. Small bar playing music tapes.

Only had breakfast which was very good with everything you could want, hot food, cereals, yoghurt's & fruit pancakes breads and juice tea or coffee. it is very cheap to eat out if you get bored with all of this.
Hotel is in a great location near the centre of sunny beach (15mins walk) or the little trains for 2 leva (70p approx). near enough to walk to beach
Staff extremely friendly and willing to help any way they can.
Entertainment leaves a lot to be desired same couple singing (badly) most nights.

| said: If you’re going to Sunny Beach then I can just about recommend this hotel. The Meritza and Meridian have combined and the whole complex is now known as The Meridian and upgraded to 4* (See my report on Hotel grading in Sunny Beach report).
The refurbishment that took place over the winter of 2004/2005 has been rushed and in some places the hotel is a little rough around the edges, but in general to a good standard.
Some of the bathrooms have yet to be finished and we were unlucky to get one of these, but were told by others that the completed bathrooms were very good. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage for your clothes. One side of the hotel overlooks the pool, which is just about adequate for the size of the hotel.
If you’re on this side, or to the rear of the hotel, then it is fairly quiet, but if you’re on one of the other two sides, it can be a little noisy up to about 1am, so take your earplugs.
The roof top restaurant gives a good panoramic view over Sunny Beach, and Nesebar, but I cannot recommend the food, not even the breakfast.
The reception staff are very good at their job and very friendly and helpful as are the staff in the bars and the chambermaids.
The staff in the roof top restaurant are not so friendly or helpful. The hotel is in the southern part of Sunny Beach and about a 10 min walk from the beach, and has a number of very good restaurants all within 200yds. The corner pub, which is also part of the Meridian complex, is very good and cheap.

Plenty of choice for breakfast though I think the dining area could have been cleaner and the waiting staff didn't seem to know what they were doing!
Hotel in excellent location, 10 min walk from centre but plenty of bars and restaurants around it and not noisy at night.
Hotel staff were all helpful, maids working extremely hard to keep the hotel clean. Not much entertainment in hotel apart from two singers but this applies to whole resort!

However the room was large and clean. the shower broke on the first evening and flooded the bathroom. Food was terrible, except the Bulgarian night which was fine.staff in restuarant unhelpful choosing to watch the TV that was on at all meal times dining area was smoking.
We had to lay our own breakfast table each morning while the waitresses looked on.They smoked in between clearing the tables! No entertainment.
Pool too small for the size of the hotel. Towels on beds before 7am. I observed 5 towels on beds that were not even used on two days in a row.People can be very selfish.Hotel should sort this problem out.Other hotels ensured that towels were removed after one hour.

| said: Despite a mix up with our room bookings (resolved quickly and to our advantage) we found this hotel to be great.
The staff were very friendly and worked constantly to keep everywhere very clean.
The rooms were lovely and certainly 4* standard.
We found the location perfect, within easy reach of the busy central area but far enough away to avoid the noise, hustle and bustle. It was an easy walk to the lovely beach.............just as well considering all sunbeds around the pool were 'booked' with towels by about 6.30 a.m.
The food was fine. I heard people complain that it didn't taste English but we were in Bulgaria after all so just what did they expect? There was a good choice of dishes but you did have to queue for a few minutes during peak time. It is very cheap to eat out in Sunny Beach so we did that a couple of nights as eating in the same place does get monotonous after a while.
The evening entertainment is a bit restricted (just a duo singing in the lobby) but that is not a real problem as there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby with a variety of floor shows, discos, live music, giant TV screens and karaoke.
We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

The food in the hotel was very basic, bed and breakfas
t is the way to go as there are so many places to eat around Sunny Beach a starter, main course and 2 drinks will cost you around £3-4 per person!!!!
The two lower floors of the hotel are not yet finished, not that you would notice, i think elves come in the night to do the building work, one morning we woke up at 9am to find a fully functioning pool bar!!!
The location of the hotel is on the door step of bars restaurants and a 5 min walk to the beach, Sunny Beach is massive after 2 weeks we still dont feel we have seen it all. A small downside is that it is all so spaced out but a taxi will cost no more than £5 to get to any part of the resort, get a cabby called George he gives u free mints!!!!
The hotel Staff are very friendly their english is surprisingly good, look out for a young lad called Angel- his name says it all.
We definately will be going back again, Bulgaria goes into the EU in 2007 so you need to make the most of its super cheapness.

The hotel itself is modern and nicely decorated.

The shower was a bit dodgy and the drainage wasn't great, but we didn't let is put us off.
We were half board but really struggled with the food, but it was cheap to eat out.
There is a nice pool area but not near big enough for the size of the hotel and the lifts got stuck on the 6th floor a few times.
Overall this is a nice hotel in a good location and if we were returning we would use it again.

It is modern and well furnished, rooms are spacious and nicely decorated with lovely furniture and a very nice en suite. Food in the resteraunt was a bit basic and we ate out most nights (So cheap!!!!) but it was paletable and plenty of choice. Rooms were cleaned every day with bedding changed twice per week. towels changed daily if you left them out to be taken by the maids. Staff were frienly and helpful. Only complaint would be the noise from local bars ( a small price to pay for the excellent location of the hotel) but this was solved in one of two ways. 1)Ear plugs, 1.99 from boots or 2) stay out until 2am at the really cheap bars near by. A pint was about 1 Leve in some places. Thats 40p! Music was only usually on until about 1 am.
All in all hotel is fantastic but no entertainment, only 10 yards from 5 bars though so this didn't matter. Pool area is very nice but a little small to cater for all the guests but the beach is only a 2 min walk to the biggest pool of all. On that note the sea is excellent, clean and full of water sports in seperate areas for safety.
Quality hotel in a quality location. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Paid for bed and breakfast but everyone in hotel sneaked in for half board anyway as no-one was checking rooms! Food wasn't too bad; varied. Had the English basics - chips and tomato sauce! But also had new ideas, often pastas, much fish, peppers stuffed with rice. Great variety of salads also.
Would return to hotel as very cheap. Frankie's bar just outside hosted by the legend that is Tommy!
Entertainment in hotel limited to small bar but all staff very friendly and willing to assist with any problems.
Although the cleaners were very eager - often waiting outside your room as early as 7am for you to leave, but they do a good job.
Definitely booking to go again.

The hotel is clean, the staff friendly - would say though if they don't get their cleaning staff to clean more thoroughly the hotel will be run down in no time. My beds were not made a couple of days and the balconys were never cleaned.
Apart from this - a lovely hotel at the moment in a great location.
