It is the clifftop position and the views over the bay and out to sea that make this hotel what it is. If you do not appreciate sea views then this is not the hotel for you.
Built in the 1970's this was the first 5* hotel on the island, now downgraded to 3.5*. It does feel like little has been done in the way of redecoration since, and now could probably be described as 'shabby 70's chic'.
Breakfasts were good with a wide range of choices. Although food in the retaurant and bar prices felt very expensive in comparisson to local tavernas and bars.
The bus service on the south of the island is very efficient and cheap, making most of the village tavernas very accessible. The bus runs till well after midnight making it easy to get home.

We immediately asked if we could pay to upgrade but when we looked at the other rooms, it was very little improvement and not worth the money to do so. How this hotel gets its rating I'll never know. The only good thing about it is the location and the cleaners who against all the odds tried to keep the damp corridors clean. The views were fantastic from the pool area, however the pool had a sheen to it which meant I didn't see anyone go in it for the duration of my stay.
We arrived fairly late in the day and decided to opt for the hotel buffet for the evening meal. The head waiter was not a happy man, the food was limited to one stand of luke warm, horrible food and it was very expensive. We did not eat in the hotel again.
The location is a short walk to a tiny cove beach with small taverna, where we eat most of our lunches, and the water is as still as a mill pond, absolute heaven.
The staff are trying their best but a smile now and again would not go amiss.!
Entertainment wise I can't comment as we stayed in the hotel only to sleep.
I would not return to this hotel if they paid me to stay, but do not let this stop you visiting Skiathos, See my review below.

If I had never been to any Greek islands before this would have stopped me from ever going again. The hotel staff where the rudest miserable lot I have ever meet except the maid.
The hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere the brochure states a 15 min walk to nearest tavernes etc. Yes if you want to walk through wasteland full of mozzies snakes wasps. And because of its location this hotel charged what they liked.
6 euros for a cheese/ham toastie with a few crisps as for the bar had 2 drinks one night Mythos and a baileys 13.50 euros the food was basic all you had to do was beat the wasps to it. If you are thinking of staying here don’t if you have booked change it if you can't remember its just this hotel/staff not all Skiathos that are rubbish.
