| said: I was a bit worried when I read some of the reviews on the hotel but was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived, arrived around 3pm at the Pelicanos, checked in straight away, and also given a loyalty card to earn points in the hotel.
Room was very clean, a few English channels on the TV, to be honest you don't go on holiday to watch TV anyway so was just nice to pop on BBC World News while I was getting ready for the evening!
Food in the restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice on Starters and Mains and I really liked the extra touch of the italian food section at the bottom, the only let down on variety of food was the desserts not much to choose from and the ice cream was never really frozen. Aside from this though I was very pleased with the food, the only let down we found was that it was very difficult to find a clean table though or a table with enough settings for a table of 3 as they all seemed to be set for two.
The pool was absolutely lovely (don't think i've seen a pool that big anywhere on holiday before!) Your not allowed to take any of your own drinks or food to the pool with you however and the cost of drinks at the Bar near the pool was absolutely extortinate (€10.80 for three full size cokes!) and the music they play in the pool area is absolutely dire, unless your keen on jazzy lounge versions of virtually every single song from the past 50 years!
Location absolutely fantastic two blocks from the beach, never seemed to be too much noise in the area and very close to the small indoor market for when we ran out books to read on the beach!
Entertainment wasn't really up to much but being in Benidorm there is so much to choose from this wasn't really an issue.
Final bits - Lockable room to keep luggage in on the last day as we weren't leaving until the evening so this was very useful. Internet access available in the bar though you do have to battle the kids who seem to spend all day on there (where are the parents lol!)
All in all lovely hotel, couple of niggly bits but nothing too major would definatly go back.

| said: We have just returned from the Sol Pelicanos and have really enjoyed our week here. This is our second time at the hotel and we would probably return in the future. The rooms are fairly small but kept really clean and the bathrooms are spotless, we had a problem with the shower which was fixed in less than fifteen minutes! Food was of a good standard and there was enough variety to keep everybody happy. The massive freeform pool at the Pelicanos(one of five between the two hotels) is absolutely fantastic. The entertainment was fairly poor compared to other Sol hotels we have stayed at but then you are hardly stuck for things to do in Benidorm!

| said: After queueing in the hotel lobby for 20mins we were pleased to be given a room in the Pelicanos.
Because last holiday we were in the Ocas and we read (on forums) that the Pelicanos was a better hotel than the Ocas, (this is not true! they are exactly the same, including the food) although we were a party of 2 the rooms were not next door to each other. (but we were on the same floor, floor 12)
The rooms were cleaned every day, but the floors were not cleaned at all, after walking bare foot in the room there were bits on your feet that had to be brushed off before you put anything on your feet. also there was no hair dryer in our room. everything else was ok, air con, tv, safety deposit box. ask reception for extra pillows, you will need them.
Breakfast was good, although the toasters were bad, 3 times through (in a queue) before you get acceptable toast, takes about 15mins. Also if you want your eggs sunny side up tell the cook before she/he flips them and ruins any chance of you dipping your toast in your yolk.
The pool area is the best pool I have seen, although you will have to choose your spot carefully as the palm trees block the sunshine as the day progresses. The pool is about 4ft throughout and is never too busy, tip- if you go in the pool using the steps, watch the last step! its a big one (gulp).
Also dont think "Ill just put my towel on this bed and go off to the market" because the pool attendant will whip your towel away and you will have to go looking for it, about time too! in my opinion.
Evening meals were very good, with a good variety of tasty food, pork seems to be a favorite at this hotel, (makes a change from chicken) also it has an asia night and a spanish night. If you go down approx 8.30pm its not too busy.
Overall a very good hotel which i would visit again, no problem.

| said: welcome to stallag luft pelicanos.how dare you take a bottle of water to the pool area or put your towell on a sunbed before 10 0clock, do they not realise this is spain thats what people do on holiday.
thers an english woman who stands on sentry duty just before the steps to the pool who stops you taking anything edible to the pool area, thats fine but when they charge you 2.80 euros for a small bottle of water and 3.60 euros for a beer youll soon be skint. she also parades round removing towells off sunbeds at 9 and 10 0clock whilst the people who have put them there are in the hotel restaurant eating breakfast, you come back your towells and bags are in a heap on the table tennis table and someone is laid on your sunbed which caused quite a few arguments. the thing is i watched her do it one day and no matter what she says to you as an excuse she loves it.
reception staff unhelpfull, restaurant staff the same. the food was the best part of an hotel that certainly thinks its better than it actually is. spent 9 nights here the 3 in the levante club relly enjoyed our last 3 relaxing days round the levante swimming pool.

| said: Hotel was clean & tidy, nice to have a TV but it would of been better if there were more english channels, you need to leave the air conditioning on all day to feel the benefit!!!
The staff do help you when you ask them to but they never seem to be happy.
Location was great near everything beach, shops, water park.
The food was far to basic and NEVER enough choice for kids if your kids like chips then they will be well away or maybe they like burnt pizza!!!!
The entertainment was dire!!!!! seemed only good for the spainish kids, kids disco is a few songs from the 70's that was played that low your kids couldnt even hear what they were supposed to be dancing to!!!!
Also the hotel employ a woman to stand near the entrance to the swimming pool area to stop anyone going past with food, papers, drinks anything that hasnt been bought on site, she stopped me & my daughter one day because my daughter was eating a packet of crisps!!!! how sad!!!! I'd spent hundreds of pounds buying drinks & snacks there everyday & to be stopped with a packet of crisps was a joke.
i didnt speak to one person staying here that was enjoying themselves,

our room was on the 9th floor facing the ocas pool. it could be quite noisy at times, especially with three spanish boys next door whistling and cat calling at any girl walking in the road. luckily they left after a few days. bedroom door slamming is also a problem here, especially in the small hours. the room was clean and adequate.
the location was ideal, on the main strip and two minutes to the beach.
the staff were pleasant and helpful. i asked for two extra pillows and they came within a few hours.
the entertainment was very hit and miss with poor quality shows brought in but there are so many clubs outsidew that you are spoilt for choice.
we would definately stay at the pelicanos again and are already planning our next holiday there.

| said: Having read the reviews on this hotel I was a bit worried about going. What a shock when we arrived. The hotel is very clean. The swimming pool area is huge and you can get a bed even at 3 in the afternoon. The drinks and food at the bar area is expensive. Our room was at the front of the hotel and in the evening the noise is very loud as you have groups of people coming home at all hours. We did ask to be moved but we were told there were no rooms available. The maid comes in daily and changes the towels and makes the beds. The food in the restaurant was brilliant. Every night you had a choice of meats / fish / pasta / salads. I cannot believe that anyone would complain about it. We took extra money so we could eat out but we ate at the hotel for 14 nights as there was plenty of choice even for the children. The location of the hotel is great as you are 5 mins from the beach which is superb. We did go and see the hotel entertainment once which was ok but there are plenty of shows to go and see out in the town. I would visit this hotel again but only if I was at the side and not in the front as the noise was "LOUD" - Not good for us light sleepers!

| said: Stayed here for a week at the beggining of May and have to say that the hotel itself was really good, even though we were allocated the Ocas we used the pool at the Pelicanos which is probably the best outdoor pool I have ever seen on any of our holidays. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The downside is the food and reception staff helpfulness, the food was particularly awful with everyone we spoke to complaining about the quality and in particular the lack of choice, the least popular meals which no one was choosing was put out (reheated) every second night to try and get rid of it. Also trying to find a member of staff in the dining room or reception to help with any query was almost impossible, unless you were Spanish then a big smile appeared on there face and nothing appeared to much trouble, Also this hotel suffers from a lot of groups of british single sex parties who enjoyed taking over areas of the hotel and generally making other customers unhappy (shouting swearing and throwing things in the pool etc), the staff at the hotel were unwilling or unable to deal with this. Next time in Benidorm I will pay that bit extra to go four star to avoid this sort of atmosphere, People who I spoke to in the hotel all had the same opinion that this was once an excellent hotel which has went downhill this year rapidly. A shame really as it seems to have so much going for it.

The maids were in every day and clean towels were left every day as well. The rooms were spacious and on arriving at the hotel we were asked which floor we would prefer and there are 5 lifts so one is usually readily available.
Now though the reason I would never return to this hotel the dining room and food are disgusting. We never found a clean table and when asked the staff if we could have a clean table they told us to clean one.
The food was cold, meats were wrongly labelled, one night it said chicken and was in fact rabbit. Like I said everything else was great.

| said: This was our second stay at the Pelicanos, the first time being two years ago. Then we found the hotel in the same month February to be excellent. The food was first class and everything else was very good.Although this time the hotel is kept pretty clean and the staff are nice,we felt there was a noticable drop in the general standards. The food was not as good as it was two years ago,i take the budgets are being squeezed and the choice of food had dropped considerably. But the biggest problem we found was that the hotels sister hotel the Ocas wich is normally closed, was open for the Spanish tourists and the both hotels were only using the one restaurant, the result was chaos at times. One morning the queue for breakfast was taking about 25 mins to get in.
The entertainment was nothing to write home about, although there are plenty of places outside and you get the impression the hotel knew that and so didnt bother too much.Hopefully this can help someone else.

I think for the fact that we paid a lot more than other folk - they paid a lot less so did not moan about the food.
The hotel was immaculate and appeared to be very popular. The staff were pleasant. The entertainment was not very good but then with Benidorm there are lots to choose from.
The location of the hotel was excellant.
We would probably go back here but just for a week as you appear to get better deals. We got the travel agent through teletext (cant remember the name) but in future I would book the hotel direct, get a cheap plane fare and organise my own transfer. The people that I met had done this and could'nt believe that we paid £84O!!!!!

| said: Went to Benidorm on a girls holiday we all agreed the hotel was great.
The hotel staff managed to book all of our rooms together which was cool but one of rooms had a leak on the first day so we got moved.....still on the same tho' floor so it wasn't a major trauma!
All in all it was great hotel, fab location and the Pelicanos pool was fantastic (too cold to use in November!). The Ocas pool was great also and you didn't have to walk too far to get a beer. Only downside to the Pelicanos pool was it was maybe toooo big to walk the perimeter maybe took 10 minutes!
The hotel food was OK but like most European resorts, if you are a vegetarian you will not be catered for so be prepared to live on cheese omelette and chips for the week. Good variety most nights although some wierd and wodnerful dishes where served up o a weekend when the Spanish folk tend to use the Hotel.
As mentioned one of our rooms had a leak and to be fair the staff attended to it all very quickly and efficiently but because it was on our first day we wanted a room change so we could start our holiday with no problems.
Hotel looked like during the summer holiday it would be geared up for taking the kids.

Everywhere is spotless, the corridors absolutely gleam, food was great, lots of variety and something for everyone to eat.
The hotels position is absolutely perfect, its just a short walk to the beach and all of the entertainment but without all the noise.
We've been twice now and have booked again for June 08 with all the family who will love the lagoon pool, it has to be one of the best pools I've ever seen.

| said: Stopped in the Hotel for 1 week in August 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 9 and overall had a great holiday. Requested before departure a low floor with pool view not overlooking the building work, were given a room on top floor over looking building work. Spent the first night there, no noise from building site but constant noise all night from generator/motor, after no sleep finally got moved next day. Room small for 4 but they normally are, not much storage space, room cleaned every day.
Pool area great always went around lagoon style one, does not open till 9 and you could still get a bed at 10.30 - 11.00 (brilliant compared to our last stay at Flamingo oasis when the q started at 7) don’t know if this was due to being mostly Spanish stopping there. Lady came round everyday between 9.30-10.00 and removed towels where no one was there. Life guard said we could use inflatable in smaller pool, then a lady came round on 4th day and told everyone to take them out, the next day everyone was using them again.
Food very nice especially breakfasts, as good as some 4* we have stayed at. Did have to wait for a table sometimes but staff worked hard to help. If you are half board you can choose to take lunch instead of your evening meal. Did not stop in for any evening entertainment but was aimed more at the Spanish. Reception staff friendly and helpful, brilliant location and would stop there again.

good news for you suntan seekers,
though i can only speak for the ocas side, plenty of sunbeds, even after 10oclock.
the pools are amazing, best in resort.
staff are friendly & helpful.
food in the ocas was 1st class, why some reviews say otherwise i dont know, loads of choice, brilliant.
cant really comment on the entertainment, we were on the town every night, but there seemed quite a few watching the acts, mainly spanish.
the hotel is in a perfect location, just down the road from all the fun.
i would go back to this hotel no problem.

The food was excellent couldnt fault it and a lot of variety. The chef cooked eggs, omellettes and steak for you while you wait.
The location good, not too far to walk to the nightlife, but far enough as to not hear it.
The staff friendly enough but didnt have a lot to do with them. We never stayed in the hotel at night so do not know what the entertainment was like.
This is a lovely hotel as it has very good pools. We like it so much we are staying there in 2008 as well. We never took our children but I would not hesitate to book the Sol Pelicanos Ocas with children as it appears to cater for them as well.
All in all a good 3* Hotel, I would also like to try other hotels from the Sol Melia chain.

| said: We stayed in sol pelicanos and we had a good time note that I said good not brilliant.
The pool was the highlight of the hotel it's just making up for the other things.
The food, full board I would not recommend you got the same for lunch as for dinner so it felt like you were eating 2 dinners and some nights there was nothing to eat except for pizza and chips which was disgusting but it was handy to have a microwave in the dining area as the ood is stone cold.
The pool as I said earlier was the best part as it was very big but the use of inflatable is prohibited including rubber rings so the lifeguard stopped my child that couldn't swim was asked to remove his ring so I went over to talk to him and I fell in the process and he sid that he would prefer him drown but we ignored him and told him to continue using, then the next day he attempted to take it off him again but we pretended we couldn't understand him so then when he wasn't watching my daughter soaked him ha ha!
It was my birthday when I was in this hotel so my daughter ordered champange a month before and they still remembered so thats why we gave the staff a rating of 5.
Rooms are of normal size and there was road works were going on so we asked to be moved and we were.
Our flight home was in the afternoon but before 2pm the hotel said we could have a courtesy room from after 3p.m we were in shock not one hotel that we have went to offered us a courtesty room without us asking.
I would go back for the staff and the pool not the food.

Although last time we were in the Ocas, which seems silly but I think its more strict there.
Really enjoyed our holiday again although not sure if we will go half board again as the evening meals are very repetative and most nights I just had pizza and chips from the ''kiddies'' section!.
This time around I was very dissapointed with the pool (which is one of the reasons we booked again in this hotel), NONE of the jacuzzis were working properly and the pool was absoulutly freezing. Im not a softy but most of the time I only sat on the edge and delicately put my legs in, as honestly, it was that cold. I only actually got the courage up to swim in it twice out of our whole 2 weeks, the rest of the time I went to the beach and swam in a much warmer sea.
The hotel is in a great location and is clean. The maids come in everyday (although this can be from around 8.30 till well in the afternoon).
The staff on reception are helpful but we had to wait an hour until our room was ready, which would have been fine if we'd arrived at 9am or so but we didnt get to the hotel until 1.10pm and you are supposed to check into your room at 10am!
Overall I do like this hotel and probably would go back, but being truthful, I do think its gone downhill a bit from our last visit 3 years ago.

Having read previous reviews I was a little sceptical about this hotel, how I was wrong!
Food - excellent loads of choice for both breakfast and dinner, and also theme nights (mexican, med, asian)
Cleanliness - very good no gripes at all, the maids did a good job and the restaurant was clean too, outdoor area second to none!!!!
Location - Slap bang in the centre of everything but quiet on a night too. 2 mins from beach 2 mins from night life and 2 mins from shops!
Staff - generally very and happy to listen was able to book an early breakfast on my last day no problem!
Entertainment - Didn't stay in at night (you don't go to Benidorm to watch the hotel entertainment) If there was entertainment during the day I didn't see it not very well organised/advertised although the kids club seemed to be very good with a Flintstones theme!
Building work - Not as bad as I was expecting although when the pile driver gets cleaned I think the whole resort can hear it this happens 2/3 times an hour! Building starts at 8am and goes onto 8pm.
Light sleepers and familys with small children might suffer, but there isn't an alternative hotel in the area that I would go to as a substitute as this is top class.
Pool - Lots of pools I think 7 in total the lake pool being the best I have seen anywhere! The hotels main pool is so good they employ a woman to make sure only the hotels guests are using it!
Overall I would be more than happy to stay in this hotel again!

Dinner was good with a lot to choose from, we weren't too keen with breakfast but most other people seemed to enjoy it!
Its placed 2 streets away from beach so very handy for the beach as only a 5 minute walk, also right next to the main streets and few minutes away from the square.
Lots of cabaret shows around about for families or couples and also near teh pubs and clubs for the younger ones or people with friends or stag or hen do's.
Would definately go back!

The lake pool is amazing, the first week they were turning a blind eye about lilos but then the second week they were banned, I don't think that the staff were been killjoys as I've read that under Spanish law if a pool is over a certain size, inflatables are not allowed.

(good on her ) She wasn't there on Sunday though, perhaps that's her day off. So if you want a nice swim at the Pelicanos and you're staying down the road, make it Sunday
The pool bar was very reasonable for food. The Margarita pizzas were a decent size and very nice at only €5 although I thought that the drinks were quite expensive except when happy hour was on 5-6pm everyday. (hic!) They charge €3.30 for a pint of local lager whilst the Regente up the road is a € a pint cheaper and the soft drinks and water were quite pricey too.
The Kiddies playground was well equipped, it has a Flintstone theme and there are tables and chairs situated opposite which meant that we could watch the little one whilst we relaxed with a drink. There is also table tennis in that area too which costs €2 an hour, you pay €5 euros but get €3 back when you return the bats and ping pong ball.
The food was very good overall, always fresh, hot and plentiful although I thought that the evening meal lacked vegetables and the ones that they did have on offer were bland and overcooked. They have an Italian section every night which was great for the kids as they had pizza and pasta dishes as well as say hot dogs or burgers.
On a morning they cooked fresh pancakes and omelette's to order as well as having a multiple of choice of other things i.e. there were meats cheeses, fruit, full English breakfast, cereals, rolls, toast, buns, boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, need I go on.
At busy times it was sometimes difficult to get a laid up table but if you sat down and caught one of the staffs eyes then they would hurry over and clear and lay it swiftly.
The hygiene standards both in the restaurant and around the hotel were second to none. I didn't hear of anyone who had been ill or complaining about cleanliness. (You usually get one don't you )
The room was of a decent size for the 4 of us although it lacked drawer space but we managed. We had a nice corner room which got the sun all afternoon.
I cannot speak about the entertainment as we went out every night except one night when they had a Spanish Trio Instrumental group on stage. Not really our cup of tea but everyone to their own.
We did rifle shooting one day which was run by a nice Portuguese lad called Pedro. they also have archery and bowls e.t.c. during the day but it's poorly advertised, they could do with publicising it a bit more.
I would not hesitate in staying at this hotel again but not if there were building works going on in the close proximity. It didn't spoil our holiday but I would have preferred to wake up naturally instead of by the pile driver.

| said: Hotel is in a great position for beach and nightlife. We stayed in the Pelicanos.
Rooms: Large enough for two however we had three beds squashed together and if we wanted out onto the balcony we had to stand on the camp bed. After a day we removed it and pushed the two beds together. That was the only downside to the rooms. Towels could have been changed everyday if we wanted, but I like to do my bit for the environment so made do for a few days.
Lifts: Never had to wait long, we were on the 9th floor.
Restaurant: Really busy at breakfast time but plenty of variety. Evening meals were varied. Three theme evenings per week, Meditteranean, Mexican and Indian. After reading the reviews below about the food being poor, we were a wee bit concerned, however, we could not fault it in any way. There was plenty to choose from every night. You have to take you meal card with you to get checked in, this is the case through out the holiday, you won't get in without it!
Staff: Most are very pleasant and helpful but I did have a run in with one particular member of the bar staff for ignoring children!!
Pool: Well what can I say, it's fantastic. First week was quiet and second week was half term. Lots of people reserving sun beds with towels but come thursday they all got a shock. A lady is employed to remove them and she also checks your room number. She was also confiscating food and drink brought in from outside. The only downside, in my opinion, was lack of life guards. For the size of it I would of thought three would of been the norm but there was only one. Lilo's were allowed during our first week but not the second. The pool snack bar has a wide variety of food and drink, although soft drinks a bit overpriced for what you got.
Entertainment: We went out most evenings but we did stay in for a few. The animacion team did a good job with their two shows, they also did bingo ( got a bit monotonous as it was read out in 4 languages) Abba Esque, Michael Jackson were good and there were dancers, magicians and a snake man. After that three spanish singers.Entertainment is now held outside.
Activities: Miniclub at 10.30am and 3pm as long as there were a minimum of 10 children but you do have to pay for each one. Adult activities are the same time, can't comment on either as we didn't participate.
All in all we had a fantastic time here and would deffinately stay here again.

We forgot to ask for pool or front view so our balcony faced onto a service area.
The room itself was spotless and the decor was fresh. maid service every day. The food was aplenty, but some of the meat dishes I found quite tough, but on the whole I found a decent dish at every meal.
There was entertainment but we didnt stay in to see it. We used the pool at the sister hotel "Pelicanos" which was far superior.
We had a great time. Great hotel for money I would not hesitate to use it again.

With a magnificent pool and area around it, the cleanliness of the place in general and the location is first class.
Now to the downside, the food which is served is disgusting with more or less the same garbage served up every day under cooked, cold, one veg every day and served to you by staff that are not interested in the clientel at all.
The staff who clear the tables etc are not able to keep pace with the amount of people being served and so you sit at dirty tables or clean and set them yourself.
Every mealtime was a nightmare, never again will we go to a Sol hotel and the card as been destroyed.

| said: We stayed in the Ocas over Christmas and were disappointed in the Hotel.
Although better than expected weather during the day,it was freezing at night. We live in Scotland and to date I have not had my heating switched on during the day but by about 17.00 p.m we were shaking with the cold in our room. It may have been better if if had been a room at the front or side which got the sun for longer but we had a room at the back above the service road to the indoor market. The delivery lorries started about 6.00 a.m. waking us with the noise.
We could not fault the reception staff who all were courteous, helpful and pleasant, or the cleaners who did a good job, though some days we returned about 14.00 and they had not been in and other days they were opening the door before 9.00.a.m wanting in.
The food, apart from the soup, was not up to standard and after 2 days , including Christmas Day, we ate out.
There were only 2 lifts , one of which was out of order all the time we were there and on one day I waited 25 minutes to get upstairs.
There were steps up from reception to the lifts and wheelchair residents had to get a member of staff to operate a mini lift to get them to the actual lifts but on coming down had to ask other residents to alert staff to their needs as the wheelchair lift could not be seen by reception staff.
In spite of the great location I would not use this hotel again.

| said: Food greatly improved from our last visit to this hotel in 2003, everything was hot and we did vary the times we eat. Food was repeated the second week and an odd night did not seem to be presented as good as the first week but there was something for everyone. The soup was piping hot, did not hear one complaint about the food from anyone everyone said it was lovely. My one complaint was that the crockery did need replacing and cutlery, maybe they do that at the start of the year.
The staff I could not fault, very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. The maids came in every day to clean and fresh towels daily, the hotel was very clean and although out beds had seen better days the rooms were spotless and the bathrooms. Take a hairdryer although it says hairdryer you have to go to reception and leave a deposit of 30 euros which you get back, you can have it for 20 minutes, as i wash my hair each day it was easier to let it dry.
The pool is fantastic although it was to cold to go in.
Entertainment wise if you like shows or have kids with you it's fine can't really comment on that as we didn't see any as it is downstairs and very warm, and we are not really into that kind of entertainment.
It is a non smoking hotel although you do have an ashtray on the balcony so that was fine, all in all a good hotel in a good location 5 mins to beach shops and bars on the doorstep.

Reception staff were very pleasant and although the dining room staff were not forthcoming with pleasantries, they lightened up and were more friendly when they realised I had basic Spanish and was keen to use it on them.
Food's a plenty, all fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit, cold cuts, rolls and breads, as well as bacon sausage, eggs etc for breakfast. Evening meal was abundant, various salads, soup, apetisers, roasts, fish dishes, meat dishes, pastas and all kinds of sauces, freshly baked pizzas and of course hot and cold veg to go with it all. Tradionally the Spanish eat later and restaurant got very busy around 8.30pm, so avoid this time to save congestion.
Entertainment on every night on terrace (weather permitting) but plastic tumblers put me off staying for it.
To summarise, the location is superb, a short walk from the beach, bars, shops and markets right next door.
I will certainly use this hotel again if I am in Benidorm.

At the time we went it is a Spanish holiday so the hotel was mainly full of Spanish guests, therefore the food was more suited to their tastes.
I wasn't keen, they were very repetitive, and I am a vegetarian and there wasnt much vegetarian choice. breakfast however was lovely, even though I only made it down twice at it finishes at 10.30!
The pool is amazing and water polo and things are played throughout the day. Nighttime entertainment sounded good but we always went out.
I look forward to my next visit to this hotel but might try July to see if the food is better when its more British clientele!

| said: Been to this hotel three times and couldn’t understand the bad reviews, but just come back from here and the hotel had gone down big time.
The pool is great with swim up bar and Jacuzzis but the water really dirty.
The cleanliness has gone down too.
With so many people staying at the hotel that you cannot find a bed unless you get up early. We got there just after breakfast at 8.30 and just about found some beds, but we got an important phone call from home so we left our towels and stuff on the beds and our towels were taken off and all our stuff were thrown onto the floor and someone else was on our beds. We couldn’t find any more so we sat on chairs but we were told to get off them as well.
My room was flooded by a group of boys upstairs who came in at 4 in the morning and woke us up every time. When I asked to swap rooms as we originally asked to have rooms together with my parents the man on reception said no it is not important and told me to go away. My mother asked again to a nicer woman that was working there and she was about to change my room but he overheard and told her no.
When we went last time there were mostly families and couples but this time it was a lot rowdier. But we did not deserve to be treated so rudely so we will not be returning.

We have stayed in a number of Sol hotels in various locations and this would be one of the best. The rooms are a good size and like the rest of the hotel was kept spotless.
The food is tasty and varied with different theme nights several times a week. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help.
Entertainment team work hard night and day and put on some great shows.
My only gripe would be with the lifts which were very poor.

My only complaint is that you had to wait for tables to be cleaned as the hotel was packed and there were never more than 4 table clearers in this large dining room. I have 6 year old twins and they were entertained twice a day at the flintstones kids club which run fantastic activities at a very reasonable cost.
The pool has to be the best in Benidorm and there are loads of sun beds.Hotel staff helpful at all times and rooms cleaned daily.Evening entertainment is very poor but this hotel is in the heart of all night life, loads of bars and entertainment on your door step.

The hotel is in our opinion let down by the restaurant, it is more like a school canteen in our opinion, if you can find a table that has been set, there is no table linen, just paper place mats and napkins.
Staff did not clear tables until you were finished your meal, very noisy with children running around. Heard a lot of people complaining about the food and regular guests saying they wouldn't return.
You had to give your room number to a lady who stood at the entrance of the pool before you could go in, supposed to prevent people who were not staying at the hotel from entering which was a good idea. Not allowed to reserve beds with towels.
We won't be back there either, perhaps hotel is best suited to families with children.

This time the food was appalling even the sausages for breakfast were not properly cooked, and we did not notice until my grandson had eaten his, consequently he was later sick and had to stay in bed the rest of the day, not very nice for a 6yr old, after this we had to check that all food was cooked through, and twice cut open sausages which looked cooked but were cold in the middle, so watch out for this please if you visit this hotel.
We will not be going again which we are very sad about as we really love the pool and the rooms are very spacious.

If we had the cash I would book for a month next time. The food is excellant ,it may be self service but everynight there is a choice of fish( hake, swordfish, cod, flat to name a few types),steak. Various stews, great choice of veg. Rice dishes, cold meats and salads.
Then there is the Italian section of the dining room where you can choose pasta, pizza, hot dogs and burgers. The breakfasts are as good.
The rooms are large and all seem to have a good view.
The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful.
The entertainment team work very very hard and the kids club is great. Our lad went everyday sometimes 3 times a day. They took him climbing, camping and to the beach as well as the usual swimming and dressing up.
The hotel is very well located, 800 yds from the beach plus near plenty of bars and clubs.
The pool is the best in the resort( cold at first).Plenty of sun beds.

Only one thing spoilt our holiday and that was the pickpockets - we all know about them and are warned - but you are not warned how quickly they can strike - my wife was hit on crossing the road from the transfer coach - a group of spanish women were literally waiting for the coaches to pull up and followed my wife across the road and right up to the hotel doors - only in the room did we discover her purse had been taken and on reporting it we found another person had their tickets stolen at the same time - this is in no way the hotels fault but very little seems to be done to counter these activities.
The hotel staff were very helpful in these circumstances as was the rep. but they would be very experienced in dealing with these situations as the incidents were frequent.
I honestly could not fault the hotel in any way as the staff were very pleasant and eager to help regardless of their role.
Beautiful pool very cold at this time of year but bearable once in

We arrived at the Hotel late Morning and found a busy time for the check in staff - Some people had to wait until 2pm for their rooms to be ready but we agreed to take a higher floor and got a room straight away, I wouldnt have minded waiting as it was explained very well and the reception staff were very helpful.
The room was basic but clean with plenty of room for the four beds.
It was October and there were a lot of older couples there but that didn't spoil the Holiday as the kids kept them amused. The Entertainment was geared towards the elderly at this time of year which was understandable.
The Food was great - There was a large selection for us Adults and good food for the Kids such as Chips, Chicken nuggets , Pizza etc. Our kids are fussy eaters but ate very well.
The Pool is absolutely great all be it a little cold at this time of year. We spent every day at the beach as even in October the weather was 26 degrees and over every day.
Our room was in the Pelicanos side. From speaking to others the Ocas side was pretty much the same.
It is about a 4 minute walk to the Beach which was excellent and about the same to the Nightlife. It is rather quiet at night in and around the Hotel which was great.
The Lifts were no better or worse than any other that we have experienced.
The room was cleaned daily and the cleaners were very friendly. All in all if you have Kids this is a great hotel it also has a small playground near the pool with table tennis and pool tables too.
Everyone has the odd bad experience on Holiday but unless you are really really fussy this Hotel is hard to beat.
We would definately go back without Hesitation.

The rooms were spacious...even with 3 beds in. I was impressed with the shower of all things, very powerful also large bottles of shampoo, shower gel and hand wash were supplied, not the usual sachets.
There was plenty of choice of food and every evening there was some kind of meat i.e. chops, steak etc cooked fresh on a griddle and you could ask for it cooking to how you liked it, same on a morning at breakfast with eggs, omlettes and pancakes.
I like to go out on a night so I don't often get to see hotel entertainment, but everynight there was something on and this year we did stay in a few times and I found the entertainment real good, especially for kids.
The pool is very impressive, very clean and of the same depth all the way round. I am 5'3 and I could touch on my tip toes everywhere in the pool.
All in all I would say this has been the perfect hotel in a perfect location and I will be visiting again.

| said: We have stayed in this hotel before and we were so pleased on our latest visit to find it remains an excellent choice for families.
it offers good food, it's clean, ideally located and is great for kids.
The only problem appeared to be the lack of sun loungers and if these were reserved before 9am then the towels were removed. The problem was due to us Brits getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve our sun beds.
Other than the sun lounger problem we had a fantastic time and would definitely visit this hotel again.
The swimming pools are super. *******

| said: Hotel very clean, except for the second last day before we left when they obviously knew we were leaving the next day and decided not to clean our room. Breakfasts were very good but, evening meals left a lot to be desired, one guy asked if they had had a fire sale on veal one eveing as everything was associated with veal! Food not hot enough, we spent six days at the hotel but had to eat out for four of them!Hotel staff very nice. We dont know what the entertainment was like as we were out every night but was told from other holidaymakers it was very good.

| said: The food was okay but at evening meal they insist you wear trousers below the knee, even though it is still very hot at 18:00 and it is only self service cafeteria style.
The lifts were the worst I have ever been in and they throw you all over the place, someone will injure there back in the near future if they are not repaired/renewed.
Entertainment was good but the bars were very expensive compared to the rest of the resort.
I can honestly say I would never stay at this hotel again even if it was free and would certainly not recommend.

| said: The location of the hotel's is good but we did have to eat out more because of the standard of food.
The entertainment would be better for a younger family but with two teenage boy's it did not suit us.
The cleanliness of the hotel and grounds are good the only bad thing that we had during our stay was the lifts breaking down and when you are staying in the 11th floor its a hard climb up all those stairs.

| said: Really enjoyed our stay. Have been to this hotel twice before food has improved even though it was good before.
Rooms are a bit small for a family but then you only sleep in them the only thing that I could fault was the bar service in the dining room. It gets really busy after 8pm and they only ever had one person serving but would still go back.
Lovely pool and if you reserve sun beds before 9am they come round and take your towels off and put them on a table for you to collect.
Entertaiment was not my cup of tea but others seemed to enjoy it.

| said: Well what can I say that I haven't said before.Obviously I'm a huge fan of this hotel having stayed here before.
Returned this year DIY for the first time, taking my 2 daughters 14 and 17,my eldest daughters 18year old boyfriend and my youngest's best mate also 14.Booked the hotel direct and payed when we got there.I was really impressed as all our requests were made and we all got rooms next to each other.
Hotel was lovely and clean as always and we were dealt with straight away and able to go straight to our rooms.
Food was of an exceptional quality yet again and during the week we were there I don't think I saw anything repeated during the evening meal.
Sweets were a bit repetetive but providing you stick to just the one different thing a night you should be ok.
Only 2 complaints really
There were a lot of Spanish people on holiday at the hotel whilst we were there and I know everyone complaints about the Germans but the spanish are worse.
They were very rude always barging their way in front of you to get into the lifts first,or get served at the bar before you, pushing in during the queue at the dinner counters and being given preferential treatment eg if they were a large group the dining room staff would lay up tables for them no problem where as we would often have to clear away a table and lay up ourselves if all 6 of us wanted to sit together.
The other thing was there are still not enough sunbeds to go around.Another thing we can thank the spanish holiday makers for they have a nasty habit of taking twice as many sunbeds as they need eg family of 4= 4 beds in the sun + 4 beds in the shade under an umbrella.
Some beds they will relinquish if pressured but then only to another Spanish family. We complained to the pool bar manager because we had to have chairs on one day which we were told off for as they are not meant to be removed from the bar area(we were only about a foot away from the said area at the time)We pointed out 2 spanish families of 4 that had 14 beds between them(yes we counted) he just shrugged his shoulders.
Apart from that I can't complain about the hotel at all. Very good service, maid service daily, friendly staff, fantastic pool, lovely food.

| said: I cant see what people have got to complain about it just seems that people are looking for faults instead of enjoying themselves.
We have been to this hotel three times and after looking right through the thomsons book we have decided you cant beat the pelicanos.
We were told by the reps the first time we went that it was the best in Benidorm, it has definately got the best pool, which my daughter loves.
The swim up bar, jacuzzis, its huge and there are lifeguards at all times. Ok so you cant use lilos but there a bit annoying for others anyway and you can always take them down the beach and have more fun with them in the waves or there is a pool in the ocas you can use your lilos there.
The rooms are very clean and the staff will are very helpful if you have a problem. the food is a very wide choice and there is something for everyone, and it applys to everywhere when they sell food that you are not allowed to take food or drink in but as long as you hide it, as you walk in noone really takes any notice.
And how can any complain about the entertainment when your in Benidorm, there is so much to do, the beach is just a short walk away though we always go to the other end its less rocky.
As for the sunbeds there are hundreds stacked up by the side, weve never had any problems, if there is a large group of you just go earlier. We have always had a great holiday here and many more i'm sure.

Food was good even if you were dining at the last minute you always had the full choice of the menu.
Entertainment was sparse, but who needs it when its all on your doorstep.
Pool was one of the best I've seen, although I saw no attempt by the staff to remove towels off sunbeds.

The hotel is very clean. Only complaints was that the air conditioning wasn't very good and we could never get a sunbed at the pool until later in the afternoon.
Would certainly use this hotel again.

The hotel pool is its best feature. The staff were very nice and always smiling. The meals were alright always something for my boys who are fussy eaters. Would definatly return to this hotel.

| said: Just returned from our 10 day holiday in the Pelicanos, got to be the best hotel i've ever had the pleasure of staying in!
The swim up bar was in full operation, and the swimming pool has to be the most impressive sight ever to catch my eyes. There is the large lagoon pool along with a circular one next to it, and a kiddies pool. Also the is also a decent sized circular one in the Ocas. The maximum depth of each pool was no more than 1.5mtrs which is perfect for those who don't like it deep!
Only problem was trying to obtain a sunbed around the pool, it was murder! My girlfriend had gone down and put a couple of towels down on beds then nipped in for our breakfast around 9:15am only to find when we went back out, our towels had been removed! So if you plan to dump your towels on beds before 9:30 and leaving them, they won't be there when you return. Which is quite a good idea in all honesty.
The meals were great, a few dishes were slightly repetetive at times but also there was around 3 or 4 different choices each night aswell. Breakfasts were also quite good.
Cleaners were superb and you could be very trusting towards them.
Kids entertainment was second to none, something going on for kids all the time, although i have no kids, even i found their night time entertainment quite enjoyable!
No cockroaches in the entire resort in the 10 days, no lucky luck |
