| said: We visited the Ambassador Playa for a 2 week stay on the 30th September.
The hotel was kept immaculate, staff always cleaning and all public areas were spotless. Rooms were cleaned every day and bedding regularly changed.
The hotel food in my opinion was diabolical, I thought because I was a fussy eater that it was me, but my husband who will try anything new found it a struggle to get anything to eat, I lived on Ham and cheese for the first few days and then we decided that it was easier to eat out and have food that we really enjoyed rather than struggle to find somethibg to eat. It was also like eating in a school canteen, we had to queue for tables and the toast machine was so slow you would have had a cold breakfast before the toast was done. The only decent meal that we had and enjoyed was breakfast in the morning there was no way you could fault it.
If you stay at this hotel ask for a room in Playa 1 do not accept a room on the 9th floor that is not facing the pool, we were in room 1918 and never got to sleep before 3.00am due to the noise that came from a lap dancing club and a karaoke bar. the actual location of this hotel is superb you are dead central to the beach and the shops and 20 minute walk from the old town.
The bar staff especially Danny was fantastic, a very nice young man who went out of his way to serve you.
Entertainment was pretty good some nice acts but the resident singer/organist played the same songs 14 nights on the trot.
I would not visit this hotel again on a full board basis perhaps on a B&B basis.
This only my opinion of the hotel and the comments about the food did not stop me enjoying my holiday.
For any of you who like chinese food try the chinese restaurant across the road from the hotel, absolutely fantanstic and very very reasonable, also Monroes do a fantastic carvery with choice of 3 meats and all the trimmings, between 7.00pm and 8.00pm they charge less than 5 euros and it is an excellent meal.

| said: Had a great holiday at this hotel.
The ONLY complaint is that Sunbeds are booked with towels from 8.30am., and it is about 4.00 - 5.00pm before you can get any. My wife went out at 9.30am. and went into complain after sitting on chair behind FOURTEEN sunbeds with towels, but NO people on them for over an hour. She pointed out that signs say STAFF will remove towels after 15 mins. All she got was a shrug of the shoulders. This went on for the whole 7 days of our holiday, and not once did staff remove any towels. Lucky for us that I would rather sit on chair. OK, complaint finished.
The staff were very good, except for above.
Rooms were cleaned every day, and towels also, as long as you put dirty towels INSIDE bath.
Food was very good.
Bar prices were good for hotel prices, 2.60 euros for a pint of lager, but it was 2.90 in Western bar,(next to and owned by hotel) but the entertainment in there was brilliant, and it is NOT just Country & Western, as it also has a different tribute act from main hotel every night. The entertainment at hotel was also very good. The same tribute acts that are in the "free" entertainment bars in square etc. are on every night.
A game of bingo every night if you want it inside hotel. Also line dancing and ballroom dancing.
I would return to this hotel again.
PS. Don't be put off with my complaint about sunbeds, as you can always buy a cheap inflatable and put it down to lie on.

| said: well i seen alot of reports before i went on holiday to this hotel some good, some bad.i had been to benidorm before and walked past this hotel many times and said i would give it a try.well im so glad i did what a hotel never mind all the bad reports this is the one.what a fantastic hotel and holiday i had and thanks all to my stay in the ambassador.from start to finish the service and friendleness never stopped.when we arrived the reception staff so helpfull.the rooms where not huge but who cares you only sleep and shower there its benidorm loads to do.the rooms where so clean and stayed like this the two weeks we where there.the maids always sayed hola no matter what floor you where on.the food was good plenty of it the odd day it was not a good choice but not all the time it was very nice and a real ice cream machine in the restaurant with what ever sauce you want (mmmmmmm) the staff there as well very helpful and friendly any problems they will sort it for you.the pool area cleaned every morning doors did not open till 8.30am but we never stayed at the hotel pool as for such a big hotel it was not a huge pool and beds were always taken early and kids all in pool with balls and blow up beds but i went with my mates to beach or there pool so i was not bothered.entertainment in this hotel was the best there where top acts nearly every night. the used the same acts as the bars do in benidorm which you dont see to often in hotels well done ambassador.the waiting staff where a laugh and could not do enough for you.the hotel is next door to the western bar which the hotel owns so if you are in to your country and western then its the place for you. they also seem to own morgans tavern which has become famous with the hit t.v.show benidorm the acts there was awesome try and see the beni beattles they where great.one last thing the hotel have a spa on the lower level beside the restaurant as a guest with the hotel you save 10% to use the services they have things like a heated blue lagoon pool, jacquzzi, sauna, turkish steam room, ice pool with real ice cubes in it try it very cold but refreshing.it only costs 7euros and worth ev ery penny they even have a gym i never used it and they do all sorts of massages well worth a try.well back to the hotel i will be back next year to the ambassador they know how to look after there guests thanks to them all they work so hard.roll on next year xxx
Just to add this to my report about the ambassador if you like to stay in a hotel which has security on it to look after the guests then this is the place at night they had two security men on as most hotels do just to keep an eye out on the reception area but one thing i did notice which i thought was great every corridor on every floor had small security cameras on it just as you get out of the lifts i must say i liked it as have stayed in hotels which had break ins but with the cameras not much chance of it here well done ambassador looking after every guest.

Everything nice and clean, staff were all friendly, location second to none two minute walk from everything, but not to noisy.
Good old John n Josephs opposite hotel, cheap as chips and open all hours. Didn't try entertainment so can't comment.
We went in January in school time with a 14 year old, as you can expect this time of year is mainly pensioners which I apreciate, but we were made to feel at times that we shouldn't be there this time of year especially with a teenager out of school, oh well not a hanging offence yet, anyway this isn't the fault of the hotel, which couldn't realy fault, would go again.

| said: I was a bit worried before I went to this hotel because of some of the reviews I'd read and things I'd heard but I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, our room was cleaned every day by a very friendly maid.
It's in a great location, close to everything.
The kids loved the covered pool.
I found all the staff really friendly except one man at reception, but I'll just forget about him.
I thought the food was pretty good, the only 2 things that spoilt it were 1) the lay out of the restaurant! I could have done with a map to find the soup counter and 2) the new years eve gala dinner - this was a total fiasco (in my opinion), too many people crammed in to the dinning room, with too many waiters trying to serve you food you didn't want!
I did hear a lot of people moaning about the food choice that night, I'm sure a buffet would be better than a set meal, but suppose you can't please everyone. I did have a chuckle when I'd chosen the vegetarian option and they plonked a bowl of chicken soup in front of me!
This aside I really enjoyed my stay at the Ambassador and would definitely visit again.

The hotel is tiled top to bottom in very attracting colours and are always polished on a daily basis i found the hotel to be very welcoming and very clean.
The location was excellent everything near by was pleased we was in this location.
The hotel staff was very friendly and always on hand.
Entertainment was great for the kids ranging in all different shows so they was something for each of my kids, most of the shows I really enjoyed.
I only went for a week as it was my 1st time abroad but enjoyed the hotel stay so much i am returning back to the same hotel this year in august for 2 weeks and really looking forward to it (cant wait )
The only down side I have of this hotel is having to get up really early for a sun bed as of 8-8.30 you will be lucky to find one.
Thumbs up to Benidorm and the Ambassador Playa.

All the pubs had tribute artist playing which were entertaining enough but not alot of entertainment for my 13yr daughter. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpfull. Always a great choice of food on all sittings. One thing i thought they could do is offer free water with your meals.I stayed in the Ambassador Player 1 as there are two blocks to the hotel. The rooms were clean and were cleaned everyday. The pools are abit small but may be thats because im use to staying at hotels with larger pools. Sunbeds were all taken by 8.30 so be early. The hotel is not far from the waterparks or theme parks. I didnt stay in the hotel on an evening so i cannot comment on the evening entertainment. I dont think i would take my daughter to Benidorm again but i would probalby go back for a boozy weekend and would definately stay at the Ambassador Player (1)

| said: Returned from the Ambassador Tuesday 3rd July after 14 days. The hotel is in an excellent position for all the amenities of Benidorm. Overall the hotel is good, although it could do with a lick of paint in a few places. It was the 'hot' food that I had a major problem with, the salads and cheese/biscuits were excellent. We stayed half board and noticed that the menu for the full board residents at lunchtime was far superior to the half board option for the evening meal. We were told during our second week that we could have opted to eat at lunchtime instead of evening, but when it's hot weather it's not very nice eating a large meal at lunchtime. For example; ham and cheese breadcrumbed squares, sausage/cheese breadcrumbed, in our opinion all vegetables except the brocolli were frozen. I eat convenience food at home when I'm on the go running a home and working full time, so it would have been nice to have had good wholesome fresh food. The usual veg was baby carrots, sprouts (one or two), peas, cauliflower and broad beans were dreadful, all mixed together and obviously out of a frozen bag. We did notice on one occasion they had a huge cabbage on display for decoration ...... why couldn't they have cooked it and given it to us for evening meal? Obviously fresh food is available. The lunchtime menu was e.g. roast beef, roast pork, roast lamb or roast chicken etc etc. The evening meal was in our opinion the leftovers of the roasts from lunchtime and was on all but one occasion put in a stew. There was always two or three pasta dishes available, which were very nice, but there is only so much pasta one person can eat in a fortnight! On two occasions it stated roast chicken on the evening menu. My friend and I thought woooopeeee! chicken at last, but when we went to eat our meal, no chicken.
I feel this hotel has got too big and the restaurant could do with a complete makeover. The kitchen is at the far end of the Ambassador 1 side of the hotel, so the staff had to push their trollies with dirty dishes right through the two restaurants. I felt really sorry for them. There were always queues for the food. The icecream makers (2) were always breaking down, which made for quite a lot of unhappy kids and of course many people took it out on the waiting staff, but it wasn't there fault. We never once saw a restaurant manager around to supervise and help his staff.
I have been going to Benidorm for the last 10 years and have stayed in at least four other hotels and have never had such unimaginative convenience food.
I had heard over the years of the great reputation the Ambassador had, but talking to other holidaymakers, most of them who were in the Ambassador all said that it had certainly gone down the nick a bit over the past 18 months or so.
Now to the staff. They were excellent. Really helpful and any problems sorted out immediately. The rooms are extremely clean and also the public areas.
Enjoyed many nights in the Western Bar next door and Morgans Tavern across the road. Another great bar is down an alley directly opposite the Ambassador 2 doorway called 'Why Not 2'. Nice and cool, cheap quality drinks and a 'lager lout' free atmosphere. Spent many good times in there.
I would not return to this hotel unless they got there food/restaurant/kitchen revamped, but still love Benidorm!
Will be going back to one of the better hotels next year.

Situated in the "Square" area of Benidorm is ideal for the younger generation. very noisy at night with local disco Etc.
Food seltion was a lot to be desired and the sweet shelf was a disaster with only about 6 choices of sweets and repeated same every day. No carpets in the corridors thus wlalking up and down corriders all day and all night with ladies with high heel shoes.
All room doors had no self stop on the doors thus all you heard all day and night was the constant banging of doors, like been in prison.
This hotel is definatley off my list in Benidorm

| said: First immpressions when we arrived at the hotel were that it was very run down. We were allocated the ambassador 1, although I did hear that the ambassador 2 was slightly better. We had booked a room for three people so we didn't have a balcony. If I'd known this I wouldn't have booked this hotel. The room was spacious but very dingy and dark, in need of major renovation. However, no complaints re the maid service. They were in every day and provided clean towels on a daily basis.
We didn'r experience any problems with the sun loungers at the pool. The pool area itself was quite small as was the pools.
Food was very limited with choice and some nights better than others. One night we had beef which was lovely and tender, the next it was rubbery and full of fat and gristle.
Hotel in a good central location, close to everything. However, don't expect to pop outa your hotel and find somewhere nice to get a meal or nice club sandwhich. You'll need to go into the old town for something nice to eat if you get fed up of the hotel meals.
Due to one of our party members taking ill, we stayed in the hotel for a nights "entertainment". In the ambassador 1 its line dancing or ballroom dancing or book swap.In Ambassador 2 its slightly better (more lively)with Elvis impersonator, flamenco dancers etc. Lounge area full of elderly people nodding off intermitantly, basically God's waiting room. No air condintioning in the lounge so place was like a furnace come 9pm. This could have been a contributing factor to the elderly clienteles sleepiness.
Wouldn't go back to this hotel. I'v stayed in better 2 star hotels (Mare Nostrum Ibiza)
We went independantly so it worked out a very cheap holiday. If I'd went with a T.O paying the full price I'd have been gutted.

| said: This is the second time we have visited this hotel,we enjoyed the food. It was always hot, and we always found something to eat. Some nights were better than others, but we never went hungry.
You could sit where you wanted (Which we prefer), a comment was made about your drinks order not been taken, this is true, but it never bothered us, it took us seconds just to get our drinks from the small bar located very near to the food, then we just place them on our table, and went for our food.
We found the rooms spotless and our beds were very comfortable, beds made every day, and sheets changed every other day, fresh towels left every day too (Just put your used towels in the bath - this tells the maid you want them changed).
My son accidently smashed a glass in the bathroom, so I went to reception and reported it, (I did sweep most up into a little pile - with the help of a magazine), the maid was up in 5 mins to sweep it up thoroughly, moving all the furniture etc.. - she was lovely, and pleasant and took a shine to my son, who ran after her to give her 5E tip for swweping the glass up, every time we saw her she use to blow him kisses, and wave up to us, if we were sat on the balcony!
We emailed the hotel a few days prior to departing asking for a room on the second floor (Dont like heights!), we also asked for a pool view, and we got exactly what we asked for (Room 1205). The entertainment was ok, but not our cup of tea, line dancing, and ballroom dancing (Although when we were there in August it was brilliant - think it must change oct - march ). This wasn't a problem for us,as there is so much entertainment to choose from in Benidorm.

| said: This hotel is a typical 3 star the rooms are very run down in the ambassodor 1 the other is a little better.
The food is very limited, typical salad with ham or cheese, or hake (fish) or chicken curry. If you dont like these try the kids section for fish fingers or sausage and beans very poor choice.
Breakfast was like a madhouse it's just a free for all
no one shows you to a table it's just dog eat dog, or the old hits a knockout programme.
If they put bacon on you only got scrabbled egg if no bacon on some fried eggs appeared.
We finished up after two days going across the road to John and Josephs and food was great 1 euro for a standard breakfast go and try one.
Same at night find your own table and make sure one of you hangs on to it, no one ever asks for your room card if you would like a drink with your meal, go and reach it because no one else will very poor service.
Usual bingo and a singer for entertainment limited.
Rooms very run down furniture and rock hard beds.
Around the pool get there by 8-30am at the latest or no way you will get a chair.
We arrived at 9-05pm (dinner till 9pm) and there delighted in telling us we had missed our dinner.
This is the first time we have stayed in a 3 star for many years and the last try a 4 star choice of about 12 types of meals each night plus a buffet meat waiting with wine in your room what ever time you arrove, at no extra cost!
The food we did have was nice just no choice sorry.

| said: I booked this hotel via the internet after first staying there some 20 years ago. We had our 13 year old grandson with us.
The previous report by Les & Debbie got it about right but here is a little more info.
The sunbeds are a real problem here as there are only 220 (yes I counted them) for a hotel with nearly 500 rooms, the beds are the flat type and cannot be raised for reading. We and other English folk had our beds stolen by Spanish guests while we were in the pool and when we complained to the desk we were told that Spanish folk will take beds if no one is on them, of course if the Brits were doing this we would be louts and thugs. I was warned by the desk not to cause a confrontation but I still went and got the bed back, so be warned as this hotel is Spanish owned it appears they have "privileges".
We found the Hotel to be noisy due to its location and the soundproofing is poor, the older air con units in a lot of the rooms are free but virtually useless and very noisy when running and the rooms are small and heat up quickly, especially if there are three in a two bed room.
We would not stay here in high season again, maybe in low season when certain things are not an issue it would be o.k.

| said: Having just returned from this hotel we thought most things about it were adequate for a three star hotel.
We took our 11 year old grandson with us and he loved it. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels daily and sheets every other day, what more could you ask for, we asked for extra pillows from the cleaner and they were in our room straight away.
The hotel food was exactly as most hotel food is in Benidorm they try hard to cater for the British but seem to think we eat only chips I myself had mostly salads but then hubby says I am fussy anyway, however you won't starve there believe me.
The location of this hotel is brilliant you are in the heart of everything which is great if you are trailing home at 2.30am like hubby ha.
The staff do leave a bit to be desired the bar men don’t even try to be nice whether they get tips or not and don’t try and ask them to have a look at the pool table if your money gets stuck.
The nightly entertainment was very good but daytimes round the pool there is very little for the kids. The hotel pool is fine but the sun bed situation is a joke at 8.30 every morning the pool area opens and it is like sale day at Harrods then all the beds are reserved with towels and everyone goes for breakfast this is fine for the ones that come back but half of them then go shopping or to the market and the bed lies empty all day. They need to get this sorted out as it caused a lot of unhappiness.
I still think this was a great hotel I enjoyed every single moment and would highly recommend it to anyone for a great holiday and yes I would return anytime.

The rooms were basic but very clean, but the shower was excellent, having stayed in many hotels in various countries it great having a shower that pins you to the wall with loads of hot water.
The food was ive got to say brilliant,it bordored on basic some nights but basic food thats well cooked and well presented is welcome.
Breakfast was very good fried eggs that were dippy if you know what I mean, not like bullets and very well presented.
The pool was crowded but was ok, We spent time on the beach which was 5 minutes away all the pubs, clubs and cafes were in walking distance very central location could be noisy but I didn't hear much, but I had a couple of drinks so...

| said: My mum and I stayed in this hotel for the last week of March and would say I really enjoyed my stay there. It was full of people in their 60's and over but I think at this time of year most hotels/apartments will be although there were still lots of good bars outside of the hotel to enjoy.
The hotels entertainment was not very good bingo was on every night followed by line dancing in one bar and the other bar had the most horrendous singer on every night but the oldies seem to enjoy the music!
The food was what you would expect from a 3* hotel and we had no complaints there was always plenty of it and was always a good selection available so we never went hungry! We ate out 3 mornings as we had some late drunken nights and missed breakfast (thanks Yorkshire Bar!).
Our room was spotless but was quite small although we were never stuck for space. We were allocated a room next to the lift shaft so at peak times it was quite noisy but after a couple of days we never really noticed.
Location was fab close to most bars and the square. Try Morgans Tavern just a bit further up from the hotel across the road, had some ace comedians and singers on.
Overall I would defaintely stay there again.

| said: Word of warning for anyone the age of 18 - 30 don't think of going to Ambassador Playa.
Very much for the young at heart 50's to 90's, evening entertainment consists of bingo & line dancing, while day activities include water arobics & book swap. If your that older generation though, must be very good & entertaining.
Rooms small but clean, would advise hiring a fridge though to keep your achol & mixer cold.
Good tip for the restaurant buy a bottle of water from there on the first meal then go to the local spar & pay the same price for a 5 litre bottle of water as you just payed at the bar, then fill that bottle up everyday slip it in your pocket & re-use that bottle each meal for the duration of your holiday. It'll save you about £20 a week, which would by you 4 bottles of vodka down at your spar!
Night life, head to the square, about 5 clubs there some open till 9, you'll pay £3.50 Euro's for there local spirit & mixer or beer & it's normally happy hour so you get another free.
Oh yeah & if there's anything you do on that holiday you must go see Stiky Vicky's show (Not one for the kids). What can I say, the laddie works some magic!

Love the location. We stayed in the hotel some nights to dance but can't comment on other entertainment,if you dance it's excellent.
Food was disappointing, have stayed in other 3* hotels in the area and food was much better in those. However loads of places to eat near by so did not spoil holiday.
Had gala New Year dinner at Ambassador and that was good and staff put lots of effort in. Rooms small but clean.
We were in Playa 2 (over Western bar) and we were moved on request but had to pay extra for pool room.Staff were helpful though. They need extra lifts, must be a nightmare in the summer!

Stayed here when it was the Riviera/Raymar. Needs a lot of work doing on it looks old and tired.
Dining room a joke. Food very poor we ate out a lot plenty places to eat would not go hungry.
This is a so called 3 star hotel I don't think so.could have stayed in a 4 star hotel in Benidorm for less 'love benidorm but would not come to this hotel again.
The building work at back of hotel did not bother us but in summer I think this will be a problem for most people and it looks as if it be a few years before it is finished

Location - Was absolutely spot on, not far from the beach or the nightlife
Food - Wow!!! My only complaint was my plate wasn't big enough to try everything. The choice was excellent so many different dishes to try.
Inhouse Entertainment - Cant really comment as only heard from balcony while waiting to go out.
I would certainly go back to this hotel.

| said: After reading the above two posts, I can only conclude that they must have been staying in Ambassador 1. We were allocated ambassador 2. This was well away from any building work, we were informed of building work going on, and was told we would be in the building furthest away (Which we were), we experienced no noise whatsoever.
The location of hotel was spot on, slap bang middle in the centre of various pubs/clubs/restaurants etc.. Couldn't have wished for a more central hotel.
Our rooms were cleaned every other day, plus the bedding changed every other day. We were on the first floor with a pool view (Room 1122). We emailed hotel for a low floor and pool view (Which we got at no extra charge). There was a 15E deposit on the telly control which I must admit I thought was a bit strange. (Although not a prob- but got our 15E deposit back on departure).
The staff in dining room were very pleasant, reception staff ok, but not over friendly, bar staff very pleasant (Well I suppose they would have to be for their tips!!)
Evening entertainment was good, and yes drinks were more expensive than you would pay if you were to go into other bars in Benidorm, but we only had one drink in there and moved on, as there is so much to see in Benidorm, we never stay in hotel. (The hotel entertainment is also open to non guests), and they had different acts on every evening.
We found the hotel food very good, there was a massive variety, and kids had their own food bar. There was different themed nights (Italian, Chinese, Mexican, etc...), which were superb. Even a Sunday dinner, with choices of different roasts, plus Yorkshire puddings.
Wouldn't recommend the cheap and nasty cafe over the road (Not mentioning any names - but it's quite well known), can't prove it, but my lad came down with food poisoning, after eating there on our very first morning,(arrived too late to get up for breakfast in hotel) had to take him to hospital, and he was in bed 5 days.
Would definitely recommend this hotel, and will be booking here again.

The day entertainment by the pool was poor, mainly based 1990's style, the aerobics was OK for the adults, could have been enlightened by some fun aerobics for the kids.
The pools are not safe for incapable swimmers and the disabled, no life-belts if any person was in difficulties. The steps into the pool were not anchored securely either. They should be joined together with a bridge over the middle, rafts and lilos spoilt and filled both pools.
Evening entertainment was ok but spoilt by high hotel bar charges.
Meals were ok for the kids, poor selection English type meals, appreciate in Spain but, no choice. Thank god for John & Josephs opposite hotel.

Cleaners were very good, bar staff great, only down side was the refurb of the Torremar next door very noisy if your room was facing it like mine was. I couldn't leave the balcony door open and they did not knock of until 7.30pm though noise could not be heard at pool area.
Air conditioning in my room very noisy could not be left on at night so bring a fan.

The location was on top of everything but can get noisey but not so that you couldn’t sleep.
Staff were not the best I have met but it didn’t ruin my stay.
My only moan is that the pool area is not big enough for this hotel, you had to be up and at them by 8.30 to get a sunbed, and they really should stop the use of lilos and dinghies in the pools as you can’t get to have a good swim.

We did all the booking on the internet - flight with Thomsonfly.com very cheap and booked hotel through find-rooms.com again very cheap for the week.
We got the bus from the airport costing €7 each and walked to the hotel which was 10mins from bus stop. The hotel is very central, eveything is almost on the doorstep, the beach is 5 mins away and fantastic.
The hotel was very clean and the room was plenty big enough for two looking out over pool area. Towels were changed daily and rooms cleaned daily.
Staff were very good and polite. We stayed half board and there was plenty to choose from and it was all hot. Even if you went down at the last minute there was still lots to choose from.
The pool area was good and pool very clean and warm. You get the sun all day around the pool but you can't beat the beach.
We didn't take much notice of the entertainment because you get a million and one places to choose from at night.
Very good hotel.

| said: Visited this hotel on the 31 August, on Full board basis.
First impressions were pretty good. However when we saw the size of the room we nearly died, very small, and the balcony not big enough to fit me my partner and my son onto.
All rooms air-conditioned which was good, although you could not keep it on all night as it was too noisy.
Restaurant was located on the bottom floor. Whilst we were there, in the corridor on the way to the restaurant there was the most awful smell coming from the toliets, the smell was so bad that some days I thought I was going to throw up.
Food just ok, nice selection of salads, but the hot food counter was usually fish or pork every day and night. Restaurant was not air-conditioned so you could not enjoy your meal even if you did think the food was good, as it was way too warm.
Pool area was quite nice, I have to be honest I never found it hard to get a sunbed, but that was probably because I was up most mornings before 9am. What I will say is the kids pool is awful. Way to small there was some days I could'nt take my son in because there was no room.
All in all this holiday in my opinion is just ok, I won't be returning. I stayed in the Rosamar a few years ago, and found it a lot better. However I will be opting for an apartment next time.

The lifts, of which there were 3, were way too slow and inadequate for the number of guests as each could only take 4 people at a time ....the newest lift was out of action for most of the holiday..being on the 8th floor it became annoying having to wait for the lifts all the time.
The main downside was having to get up at 8 every morning to get a decent sunbed (with a backrest that worked) and an umbrella...umbrellas and decent sunbeds were few and far between....especially given the number of guests. And if you didnt get up early and bag one (as everyone else was doing) you'd have no chance later on in the day.

I thought the food was well presented but tasted different although the chicken and beef currys were excellent and there didnt seem much difference one day to another in what i found i was eating.
I found the hotel idealy based around 250 meteres to the beautiful beaches and same to centre of nightlife and surrounded by lots of bars and cafes with very reasonable prices. There were two pools outdoors one was covered which was a decent size and one which was tiny which everyone tried cramming around i found it really annoying that there were two small signs that i saw saying that you were not allowed to leave towels on sunbeds but whenever i went to find a bed as early as 8am all beds had towels on and i never saw any staff doing anything about it.
we found that the hotel staff were absolutely brilliant from the cleaner who deserved a medal for always being happy and pleasant to the bar staff who never stopped and were good fun, a special thanks to fransisco who looked after us in the restaurant but the staff on reception could do with a charisma crash course.
Entertainment at the hotel was good and varied but the guy on the organ didnt half put some hours in!!Overall my stay at the ambassador was very pleasant and apart from a few little gripes thoroughly enjoyed and would probably book again.

But no such luck, it's going on all around the hotel causing noise and dust and the workmen do start work early. We were full board and found there was very little choice at mealtimes, hence a couple of nights we bought a pot noodle and ate it in our room. The maid was fantastic, best member of staff at the hotel. Entertainment very poor unless you were of pension age. Would recommend a visit to John and Joseph's across the road. Very basic bar but staff brilliant, food and drink very cheap - especially the cocktails!!!!! We have tried Benidorm twice now and I don't think we'll be going back in a hurry. One word of caution. Whilst we were there two people got robbed. One in the market. Also a couple had their safe stolen from their room which included all the contents. From what we were told the hotel only offered to return their payment of 15 euros.

The wine menu was surprisingly impressive and if you did not manage to finish a bottle the waiter would take a note of your room number and save it for your next visit. The location was excellent if you want to be right in the centre of Benidorm which we did and in February it was not rowdy although I could imagine in high season it could be noisy. The staff were very nice in the restaurant but the guy that ran the western bar adjoining the hotel reception seemed to get a bit fed up of people using the bar as a thoroughfare - perhaps if he'd been a bit more friendly people would have stopped en route for a drink. Line dancing seemed to be the only entertainment at the hotel but because of its good location it didn't matter as there was lots to do nearby. We liked Morgans Tavern, Steptoes and Buddies for entertainment which are all fairly close. Love Benidorm and looking forward to going back soon.

| said: Having just returned after a two week holiday at The Ambassador Playa booked through Thomson allocated on arrival. The three hotels were Rio Park, Ruidor and Ambassador, when we arrived at Alicante I just knew we would get the hotel when I knew of the building work highlighted on this site.
The Ambassador playa is a 3 star hotel in an excellent location on Calle Gerona in the heart of Benidorm with all the attractions, bars and clubs close at hand. The beach is around a 5 minute walk away, although it's one of the busiest parts of Levante beach. I found the hotel to be spotless with a maid service and towel change every day if needed. The rooms are basic but a fair size with a large bathroom equipped with bath/shower etc. Whilst we were there a new lift was being fitted and we never waited for a lift even at peak times. We were half board and the meals were fairly good, a good choice for all tastes, the only gripe I had was that the staff in the hotel were'nt that friendly with the exception of a couple who could at least raise a smile.
Safety deposit boxes are available for 18 euro for 2 weeks, we received 6 back on departure. A deposit is also required for the TV remote although they only have around 5 channels on the network and the english one was Sky News or Channel 5. We had a really couple of hot and sticky nights with heat, we were told that the air con was out of season, I found out if you close the balcony door shut the fan at least works providing a bit of comfort (I only found this out on day of departure ).
The hotel has two pools, one serves as an indoor pool in the winter season and is heated, the other free form pool is small but doesn't get full. Sunbeds are a premium and it was quite funny watching people running from breakfast to grab a decent position, although 9am is a little bit better than 4am I have witnessed in other hotels in Spain!!.
The Hotel has a sauna/fitness centre on the basement which is open to residents and non residents at a reasonable charge. The hotel has three bars, which are open to residents only til 9pm for the evening entertainment which is provided by 'big john', who rarely changes his act!!. Dancing with 'paula' is provided 3 nights a week and also afternoons. The same girl also teaches line dancing in the Western Saloon bar which is accessed from Calle Gerona along as through the hotel. Even if you don't take part, this place has a good friendly atmosphere.
To sum up I would stay at the hotel again without question, the only suggestion for the staff of this hotel would be to raise a smile every now and again!!.
Finally the gypsy's were out in force last Saturday , aparently they are going for it big time with the summer season about to finish at the end of October. A couple from Leeds had a purse taken outside John & Josephs with £400 from the ladies bag, when she asked the receptionist in the hotel to phone the police he stated he didn't want to get involved, which I thought was way out of line, hence my criticism of the staff, one of a few incident regarding the staff I personally witnessed.

But when i returned last year i found that the UK Bar no longer existed and the standards had dropped through the floor. The entertainment was repetative and of a very low standard. One particular reason i enjoyed staying at the hotel before was the the fact that the staff were extremly friendly and efficient, in particular one young girl that used to work in the UK Bar who was ran off her feet constantly but still managed to serve everyone and with a smile. But on my last visit i felt bad for ordering a drink as all i received was a grunt and a look of disgust, and then had to wait for their conversation to finish. That is only the staff in the bars though, as the maids were impecable.
The hotel itself and it's location is perfect close to the beach and bars. I will be returning to Benidorm, but to stay in a different hotel were hopefully the staff will be a bit more friendly.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms are kept clean and towels changed daily. Food was good plenty to choose from but not always as hot as it could have been.
The New Year gala dinner was fantastic once seated all you had to do was eat we were treated really nice nothing was to much trouble for the staff, I highly recommend it for a christmas holiday.
Now for the down side entertainment was rubbish, if you couldn't line dance or sequence dance there was nothing for you in the hotel and god help anyone who got up to dance and could not do it properly you were not allowed on the dance floor. So for entertainment you had to go outside the hotel but there were plenty of clubs in close proximity with entertainment on.
All in all a good hotel but entertainment spoilt it they could do better.
Weather was good no rain, a few chilly days but also plenty of sunny spells so no complaints about that.

| said: Having just returned from 2 weeks staying at this hotel the only bad comment I could make is that they need to get the air conditioning in the restaurant sorted out. We didn't find it comfortable to eat as it was too hot. The location was excellent for all amenities but was very noisy at the nightime bearing in mind this was August.

| said: We had a great time when we stayed at the Ambassador. The food was to die for. Every night they had a special table that served sea food to die for, jacket potatoes, real home from home food. The roast lamb in gravy and mint sauce was better than at home.
It had a great central location. It was a bit of a hike to the beach, with - umbrella, lilo, buckets and spades, bags, Flip Flops and not forgetting the children. - Two very busy roads to cross!
There are two pools both are very deep all over! Watch the kids! one pool is under cover so sun stroke is not compulsory for teenagers who can swim. the kids pools are small but adequate. again one under cover. Watch out for the edge of the outdoor pool!!!!!!!!!! My 3 year old daughter fell in to the baby pool head first as she was leaning over to fill her bucket. Not a problem as she can swim an spends most of her time under water. The problem was that she scragged all her tummy on the edge of the pool, which has small pieces if tile stuck in concrete - to stop slipping. She cried for ages. There was a lot of blood. The scar has gone now. My 19 year old sister also suffered by the sharp pool. She took a step back and also minced the heel of her foot on the pool side. Flip flops for the rest of the holiday.
If you want a sun bed - get up early take your purse and take a big strong man with you - as you have to first Queue then run like the wind to get a good location and an umbrella while your big strong man queues pays gets beds then carries them to were you are fighting off other tourist from taking your space and the very sought after umbrella that you are clinging to. I know it sounds really bad, but I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Don't let me put you off. Really it is a great holiday - just be careful.
