| said: This is the first time we have visited the Sabinal Hesperia. The only complaint we have was the food. We had proper bacon 2 mornings the rest of the time it was like some sort of rolled pressed meat we noticed that 2 evenings the carvery had the same sort of meat! Also we got pork a lot of the time, one night it was a large leg of pork on the carvery, which looked nice until we noticed that it was'nt cooked thoroughly,it actually had the blood running and I don't mean just a bit!Apart from that the hotel was clean and the staff friendly.Plenty of sunbeds etc.

| said: The sabinal is a friendly hotel resort with lots to do for children e.g darts, waterpolo, table tennis and football. Also there is a games area. The food at the hotel is briliant with lots of choice for every taste you would want.
The sabinal is only a few meaters away from the beach. On the beach there is lots to do e.g banna boat ,swiming out to the float, hiring pedlows and wave riding.
Over the road there is a all day 2 for 1 drinks bar called the colosimmo. Also You can watch the english football there. There is a fair just out side the front door with lots of rides and thrills.
The must do trip is the jeep safari with Patrick

| said: The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are cleaned every day.
The food is about the best we have had for a long time (and we go abroad 2/3 times a year), I am a very fussy eater and still I could find something nice to eat every evening, I cannot comment on breakfast too much as I only have a bowl of muesli wherever I am.
Hotel location is very good, there are some shops very close by or if you want to venture further then the bus stop is also near the hotel.
The majority of the staff are pleasant and helpful (there was only the odd off-ish one but then again you will find that in any business).
In the main bar they had a Happy Hour 5-6 and 8-9 but they only still kept two staff on and they always struggled with the demand.
Across the road from the front of the hotel is the Collisimo (spl)pub and they seemed to serve 2 drinks for the price of 1 most of the day and quicker !
Entertainment is in Spanish only and mainly consists of someone playing keyboard and a singer for people to dance too, for us it made us feel more like we were in Spain than it does when the entertainment is all English speaking.
At the time we were there (1 - 12 July) they have a lot of Spanish taking their vacations at the hotel, I think because it was around the festival time in that area.
The temperature was around 34c and yes there are flies about but I'd say it's no worse than Tunisia.
A lot of the sunbeds are in need of replacing but the hotel management are aware of that. The sunbeds on the beach are chargeable 3.50 Euro per day or 21 Euro for the week, they do put really thick comfy mattresses on them and they are extremely comfortable, plus there are'nt as many flies on the beach !

Dress code was not adhered to although shown on restaurant door. Shorts and tee shirts are not suitable for dinner.
Flies in the grounds were a big nuisance, but you can buy fly swats from the local store.

Only thing I did find I went with my 2 year old and breakfast opened at 8am and dinner was 7pm which is abit late when you have young ones or your starving!!!
Location is good, I found the resort in 3 parts and this hotel is in the middle, but it is a nice walk to either end and its only 10mins if that on the beachfront.

Food was very good although the breakfast was very much the same every day.
The rooms were cleaned to a high standard in fact the overall accomodation was very high.
On the downside the entertainment was very poor and lacked variety.
Excursions were good especially the trip to Granada to visit the Alhambra Palace. We would have liked to have visited Jerez and also had the opportunity to see a Flamenco Show.
Overall it was a good resort for a restful break

| said: The hotel is located right on the seafront and it's definitaley worth booking a sea view, otherwise you overlook the mainroad/bars. Be aware the entertainment takes place by the pool and it goes on until 11:00pm. Happy hour(s) are well worth it.
About 50% of the guests are spanish but this has the advantage they work on different time scales to brits. i.e. siesta until 4 so the pool is empty from 1 till then and they splash about until 7 which is when dinner starts so the dining room is quiet until about 8pm. And they don't go out early putting towels on loungers! At other times the pool can get a little busy and the enetertainment staff do water aerobics or water volleyball so it's a leisure pool rather than a swimming pool.
The hotel is a little worn around the edges unless you go to the new section but we had a room with the extra bed fitted in another room. Normally this is 25euro's extra per night but we were just allocated it. Just lucky? It was very hot when we were there but the air conditioning in the room enables us to sleep ok.
The food is good, you can watch them cooking it and is buffet style being served for about 2-3 hours per meal time, just turn up when ready. Most nights they have a carvery option, where the chef carving sees it as a point of honour to put as much as he can on your plate, and there's plenty of salad to choose from. An oddity is that frequently vegetables are offered at breakfast which spookily match what was offered the night before. But if you don't like something then just leave it and fetch something else. They have proper table cloths/napkins which are changed every time someone finishes at a table which is nice. Good staff in the dining room and room cleaners.
At lunch time there is someone selling baked potatoes on the promenade just outside the hotel which kept our son happy, we use to go over the road to a supermarket and buy fruit and yoghurt or a baguette with something to put in it.
Entertainment is aimed at the spanish but is ok. Because it's a 'mature' person's hotel there is no disco (none in the resort I think :-) )and everything closes down about 11:30.
Would we go again? You Betcha! This was our 6th visit to this hotel (10th to the resort) and are planning going back again next year. There are maybe hotels with better food/rooms/entertainment but for an overrall package it's hard to beat

| said: The room we were allocated was up to the usual 4* standard - but was overlooking the car park and a small row of shops. Although we weren't too bothered about this we enquired if it was possible to change to a better view. For just 2 euros pppn we were given the same type of room but with a lovely view of the sea and pool area. Our room was kept very clean throughout our stay.
It must be difficult to provide food that is going to appeal to everyone - but there was a good selection, and we always found something we liked.
The area surrounding the front of the hotel was a little shabby in places, there was also a small fairground directly outside. This didn't really matter to us as we very rarely went out in that direction. We preferred to walk along the path between the hotel and beach, which was much nicer.
We could watch the evening entertainment from our balcony - it ended at midnight so didn't keep us awake.
The entertainment was just about what you would expect for a Spanish hotel (hit and miss)- but we had gone on holiday to sunbathe and relax and let someone else do the cooking and cleaning, and that's exactly what we did!
All the staff were friendly and helpful - especially the bar staff, nothing was too much trouble.
The only complaint we could make would be about the tiny flies that seemed to be everywhere round the pool/terrace area. They didn't bite or anything, but were quite annoying. We saw a number of people with fly swatters, but by the end of the week I think we just got used to them.
We would visit this hotel again, and would certainly recommend the upgrade to sea/pool view.

The only thing we could fault the hotel for was the entertainment but other than that it was excellent.
The staff were helpful and friendly at all times and all reception staff spoke very good english.
The food was brilliant with plenty of choice at each meal, and all parts of the hotel were spotless.

| said: We stayed in superior sea view rooms in January which were very nice.
The selection of food in the dining room was very good.
Hotel was quite full with about half Spanish, lots of older people, and a mixture of other Europeans.
The evening entertainment was mainly a small group or singer and lots of people watching with the Spanish being the most enthusiastic dancers!!
Swimming pool indoors was really hot and fun but no good for swimming any distance.

Hotel cleanliness we found to be excellent.
Hotel food we also found very good but sometimes found a little cold.
Hotel location could'nt be better right on the beach.
Hotel staff were brilliant with us right from the moment we walked into the reception to confirm our arrival.
Hotel entertainment looked to be the same as we have seen on so many numerous occasions that we have visited Spain over the last 30 years.
We would definitely visit this hotel again but not in July.

| said: We have just returned from Hotel Sabinal (2 Adults & 2 Children aged 11 and 14).
The hotel rooms were very clean & spacious - they were cleaned daily.
Location was great it was right on the beach. It was a welcome relief from the hotel pool which was nice but got very busy at some periods, you have to pay 3.5 euros per person per day for the beds which was well worth it.
The food was varied and well cooked with a good choice for everyone.
Some of the staff were friendly but the bar persons were quite rude at times.
The lifts in the hotel (in the older section there were three) were tiny & broke down quite a lot, but were quickly fixed.
The only thing that let this Hotel down was the entertainment. There was a magic show and flamenco dancing show weekly but it was more geared for the Spanish audience, and apart from 2 pool tables & table tennis table there wasn’t much else for kids to do.

| said: Having been to Almeria for many years always thought that the Sabinal looked very nice from the outside and heard good reports on the food.
On arrival very dissapointed with the hotel and rooms looked like it needed a good refurb, example carpets worn and dirty in corridors and towels threadbare with small holes in. Bathrooms not the greatest.
First 3 nights did not get any sleep from the noise of rooms either side of us and on the top and bottom of us ,this went on to 3 in the morning. Moved to another room on the 4th day and had one nights sleep and then was in the same predicament as before ,put up with this for another 3 nights as hotel was full and on the 10th day after advising we would be leaving the hotel found us a room in the Superior wing.
This was so much quieter but we had to pay the additional cost which was worth it in order to get some sleep
I really would not recommened this hotel to anyone who needs to sleep at night so many guests were complaining to the Reps.
The food was good and if you do go book a superior room and request sea view as the majority of the rooms overlook the car park.
Never had to say this before but glad to get home

The hotel Hesperia Sabinal although only four stars has outranked many of those we have stayed in which have been five stars. The staff are the friendliest we have met and have always been helpful. We had a fantastic stay here and are comming again in September. It is a really friendly place and our room was kept beautifully clean, first time I have ever had any laundry done whilst on holiday and it was perfect.
Great place to stay and we will continue to stay here and nowhere else now we have found it.

| said: Excellent hotel, staff are great, facilities for chilling out are there if you look, still the towel on the sunbeds though, but you get this everywhere now.
Food is superior to other similar type hotels. Entertainment okay.
Hotel ambience and location in Roquetas is what draws us there, we have booked for 8 visits in 2005. Not much to see in Roquetas, but the hotel is ideally placed for what there is and it's easy to get a cab ride into the town centre away from the tourist areas.
A great place for kids, we felt that the kids were safe there and the staff are genuinely interested in your comfort and they like to get to know you.

| said: hmm. Well it's worth the extra for a superior room which is in the new wing as the older rooms are tiny and grotty.
Location good, lots of shops and restaurants in spitting distance but Roquetas is boring and after the 3rd day we sat around wondering what to do now. You get well sick of pizzas.
Hotel is very clean, nice staff but is no way a 4 star hotel and is the worst of the 4 stars in the resort. No waiter service anywhere, you can't get coffee before the cafeteria opens in the morning nor after the bar shuts at midnight. No room service, no shop in hotel. Grotty bar area and pub and no atmosphere.
The pool was always full and is too small for the hotel. No chance of a sunbed around the pool and it's noisy with ding dongs every minute and announcements. We sat on the beach which is much nicer at 2 Euros a bed for the day.
Entertainment is for the Spanish.

| said: The Hesperia Sabinal is a superb hotel. The rooms are pleasantly furnished. Ours had 3 beds in the main room and a little anti room with an extra bed in it. All the rooms have a balcony. I would definately advise taking a travel kettle - and be aware that you have to hire a fridge. All very easy though and the staff were very helpful.
The food is fantastic - very good selection - something for everyone, and very tasty too - Even our very fussy 3 year old managed to find something she liked. One of the best extras was the afternoon coffee and cake from the pool snack bar!!!
The pool was lovely - kiddies pool was like a bath by the middle of the afternoon - excellent wallowing hole for sun beaten parents!
We had a great holiday here - we met some very lovely people. We would definately stay here again - it was excellent value for money.
