Food was lovely. Staff very friendly with most speaking very good English.
Rooms were cleaned daily with sheets and towels changed twice weekly. Enjoyed the hotel bar in the evenings which is reasonably priced.
Will definately go back to Sidari and would certainly stay here. Perfect for families and couples of all ages.

* Was told the air con was free & when we got there was told it was 25 euros.
* Staff were friendly if you eat in there restraunt/went to there pub at night and used there bit of the beach (we found towards the end of the week if seemed to be about them making money).
* Had alot of red ants in our room.
But apart from the above everything else was great.

| said: Please see copy of letter I sent the National Papers whilst I was still out there last week:
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you about the disgusting way we have been treated here in Corfu. Having been here 26 times before, my Godfather being the ex-Archbishop of Corfu, having friends all around the island, and this place feeling like a 2nd home to me, I have been appauled and shocked at the way we have been treated here.
I shall give you the story in bullet points - if you would like more information, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
- Arrived here on 18th July for 2 week holiday with my fiancee and 2yr old son
- Booked with First Choice, staying in Sidari for a 'nice, relaxing', family holiday
- A few days in made a quiet, eloquent and polite complaint to our rep about the way we and other guests were being treated by the family who ran the hotel. (A black couple felt that they were being racist. Another couple had a problem with the cleanliness. We had a problem with the constant overcharging and shortchanging by the hotel staff.) The rep appeared to be compliant and polite and assured me he would talk to the owners...
- The following morning when I awoke for breakfast, I was shouted at by our rep and ordered into the hotel reception. There I faced a torrent of abuse and false accusations made by the rep and the hotel staff. I was told in a disgusting manner that I and my family were to be evicted from the hotel with no compensation and no relocation offered.
- I was indimidated by having all the staff surround me (including the First Choice rep)
- I was informed that I had been abusive, aggressive and arrogant to the staff and fellow guest of the hotel - ALL OF WHICH IS UTTERLY UNTRUE. Other guests can collaborate this and have given me their contact details if I or you need them.
- I was ordered to sign a formal "Final Written Warning" and make no further complaints and I would be allowed to stay.
- I went to shake the hoteliers hand and apologise if there was any misunderstanding and he made a physical threat to me, telling me I would leave the Island horizontally if they were to see me again.
- We have since learned from other ex pats etc that the family are well known to the locals to be intimidating etc.
We are stuck now. We leave here on Friday, and can't wait. Our holiday has been HELL ! We cannot make any further complaint because we have been threatened with serious consequences if we do. We can't even go to First Choice as that's what caused the problem in the first place.

| said: This is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were arrogant, greedy and rude. The food was revolting, giving myself and my wife the runs. The management are solely interested in money and are the most unwelcoming greeks we have ever come across.
The cleanliness was very poor - only changing our sheets ONCE in the two weeks we were there.
Location wise, it's lovely, right on the beach, which is why we chose it.
Entertainment is non existent.
We met 5 other couples whilst we were there - all of them felt the same and absolutely hated the place. Please avoid at all costs.

I am really missing the staff who work there as they made our holiday a special one.
P.S. DJ was a bit naff!!!! (but plenty of clubs up the road).

I like that as they were happy in their work. I found all the staff very helpfull, nothing was a problem for them.
The DJ was very good not only did he do the eveing entertainment, he was around during the day, around the pool etnertaining the kids as well. My son thought he was great.
We will be going back next year (2007)

| said: What can I say there were no many bad things with this hotel I don’t know how First Choice can sell it to holidaymakers!
Our room was like a box, it was so small you could hardly move. The worst part was we couldn’t find our safety deposit box when we got there we looked everywhere...finally we went down to the reception to ask where they were when she pointed them!!
There was a box full of 20 drawers, it was at the front of the bar where anyone from the streets could walk in, all you to do was pull a drawer and it would have broken the lock...it was only 5 euros a week but I was not going to take the risk of leaving my things in it. How can people expect you to leave your passport and money in a drawer in the main bar area!!!
The apartment itself was alright, the beach is a step away but not the best beach you can go on...there is a river which is the sewage bout 4mins away from the hotel that goes into the sea so the beach area and pool do tend to smell foul sometimes!
The hotel people where just plain RUDE, I think Greeks are the loveliest people ever but at this place they were the opposite, rude, unhappy and all they wanted you to do is sit at the pool or on their part of the beach, eat in the restaurant and drink at there bar...they just wanted your money.
There is a bloke there who is the DJ of the hotel who does the Karaoke and quiz at night he sits round the pool all day and night saying the same thing to every guest each morning... "What did you get up to last night guys" or "God I had a heavy one last night I still feel drunk" to be honest we really didn’t want to know.
A WARNING TO ALL PEOPLE GOING TO THIS HOTEL AND RESORT IF YOU LIKE TO HEAR KARAOKE EVRYNIGHT AND LIKE BENIDORM, SKEGGIE OR BLACKPOOL
YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

| said: We went to this hotel in July 2006, one of the best holidays I personally have ever had, although the hotel itself, although there was nothing wrong with it, it needed improvements.
The location was idylic, right near the beach. The pool area was very clean.
The food wasn't that great, but this wasn't really a problem, as we ate elsewhere. Also, we were told we had to pay to use the air conditioning, which wasn't great. The reception staff were a little rude, but the others were lovely.
The entertainment was amazing, I loved the Greek dancing with the lovely Yanni and his mates- I had a pic taken with him, he was the king of cool, and I made good friends with him.
Overall, I really enjoyed my holiday, we had a fab time!!

| said: We came to Maria's in July 06. We had no problem with noise whatsoever and we found the staff to be possibly the friendliest Greeks ever!
The Greek night was definitely a sight to see - anyone who has seen Yannis and Sakis leaping around in those costumes will know what I mean.
We even met a couple out there and the four of us are going back next year.
It was clean, in a great location next to the beach, everyone was friendly and helpful and I can't wait to get back!
Yassou!

| said: When we arrived we noticed straight away how friendly all the staff were because they were chatting and having fun with the guests.
The location of the hotel was superb as you stepped out the swimming pool you were straight on the beach.
The entertainment was very good every night there was music playing. Some nights were themed and the traditional Greek night was very good and value for money in my opinion. I would definitely recommend it to families with teenagers as they can walk off into the town which is 2 minutes away or the can go explore the beach. 10 out of 10.
The only downside was that we were picked up by a transfer coach at 8 O'Clock and we had our valuables in the safety deposit boxes in reception no one told us that reception didn't open until half past 8. We couldn't get anyone to open it so we had to wait until half past 8 which we were cross about.

| said: Wow.. i thought that this hotel was amazing and you only have to step over the wall and your on the beach!
Absouloutly fantastic and the weather was gorgeous, Also, the staff there are so friendly and you can joke with them, me and my sister got on really well with them and also some one said something about rats? Gosh are you joking i haven't seen a cleaner place than that, the maids come in the morning and empty the bins etc and clean around the pool, the very good and do there best to keep it clean!..
The beach is amazing but where we were some seaweed was dumped near us, but that was fine though you only had to walk up a little more further along the beach and it got better, also.. you could walk along the long strech of sand to the clubs and restaurants which is great!
The pool itself was amazing, very clean and was deep! The entertainment on the night time is good! They done a quiz every night and you could win prizes, also, they done a kareoke too! Which is great because if you went up to sing they gave you a free shot of alcohol which I think is really nice of them!
The food is nice! But we only eat there once, as we prefered to go to other places more further out in the town and explore Sidari more.
The location is perfect.. like I said before. You only have to step over the little red wall and your on the beach ( You can't get better than that really ) and there are some little shops near by and restaurants which is good and you don't have to walk too far to get the paper! Lol.
Well... Me and my family are definitely coming back this year, the 4th August, we are all looking forward to it and we are hoping that the same waiters are there again because they were the ones who made the holiday just as special!

| said: When we arrived at the Marias Apartments at 11pm we was welcomed with the lovely Tony Christies 'Show Me The Way to Amarillo' at about the same sound level as a jet engine! Which I responded in song with 'Show Me The Way to Go Home'!
This could be heard until about 1am.
Our room was a lot bigger than expected but we did pay a hefty sum in supplements, so I guess it was one of the last rooms left and meant to be for 4 people and not 2. This was one of the bonuses.
There are sound proof doors in the room which does keep most of the music noise out but you still can hear it droning on and wishing 1am would arrive soon.
We only ate a couple of breakfast at Marias which were OK and resonable priced, but not the best! we ate lunch a couple of times too which were OK but over priced.
We spent most of the days by the pool which were clean and quiet, you are situated right on the beach (not a good one) and the best end of sidari which is a plus for the Marias apartments. There was a river which ran into the sea about 100yrd to the right on the beach.
You had to go over a small bridge over this river to walk into Sidari centre and it looked/smelt liked sewage was amongst some of the ingredients too.
We thought the staffs politeness, friendliness and helpfulness was judged on how much time was spent in the pool bar, restaurant and bar every day & night.
We were at the queiter end of Sidari with the noisest bars at that end being in our vacinity.
I always eat the local dishes abroad and tend not to eat British food (except breakfasts) until I get back but the greek food in general was disapointing.
There is a good Italian & British restaurant on that road though.
We probably had a bit more to drink at night but that was so we could sleep through the music.
All in all we enjoyed our stay, the cleanliness was good, staff below average, location good but a bit tacky and noisy and good sea view but not a good beach (sand but just looked dirty).
If we had got this in a last minute deal we wouldnt have been moaning.......but we didnt!
Im sure this would be a great holiday for party at night and sleep all day kind of people.
We have an attitude of 'If you cant beat em, join em' and made the best of what we had, but Im sorry to say 'We wont be going back again'!

We only had a couple of meals there but they were ok. Portions weren't too big but the quality was ok.
The location was fantastic. 5 out of 5. We arrived in the middle of the night so we didn't know what to expect. We awoke the next morning and when we looked out of the window we could not believe it. We were right on the beach. We literally could have thrown a stone and it would have landed in the perfectly calm sea. It is also right next door to the Canal De Amour which has to be visited to be appreciated.
The staff were very nice, always polite and friendly. As for the entertainment we only stayed in the hotel bar a couple of times but they had a fairly good disco and quite a large projetion screen which showed Premiership and European football.
We will definitely be going back sometime in the future.

We were in room 13 which was more like a cupboard. Staff were very rude and unfriendly. The sewage pump was broke and was pumping out over the wall.
One morning the staff was catching rats round the swimming pool.
Infact it was so bad we booked a flight and came back early.
