| said: Had no problems with the hotel its self, staff very nice, hotel very clean, rooms nice and big, the staff removed towels that were reserving sunbeds after a certain amount of time which I thought was a good idea.
I would visit this hotel again if I had word that the food had improved, as it was awful.

It catered mainly for the spanish. If you were at the bar waiting to buy a drink and a spanish person came along they would get served first. As far as the food was concerned it was usually cold. could be bordering on the raw side and the desserts were the same every night.
The staff were reasonably ok but was hard to get a smile out of them.
Be careful regarding items of clothing. I had one of my best tops go missing from the wardrobe. Usually what goes missing is in the middle of a pile(has also happened to friends of mine in Salou}. The item of clothing was definately there when I unpacked but missing when I packed...I hadn't even worn it.
The receptionist said that cleaning staff did not go into the cupboards...just beware! Keep things locked in your case.

| said: Hotel itself is reasonably clean and well maintained, however a few quite major points lets it down. The sun does not get to the adult pool until 11am and not until 3pm for the childrens pool so water is always cold. No bins provided at the pool so take your own rubbish bag.
Pool bar expensive, e3.30 for a beer, E1.80 for a bottle of water, e5.50 for a sandwich.
The food is dreadful, the hotel itself is a very Spanish hotel with mainly Spanish holiday makers and the food caters for them. Paella every night, most nights only one vegetable, no potatoes only chips every night. Freshly grilled meat was raw 6 times in 2 weeks, basically only very quickly flash fried. Meals don't begin until 7.30pm Sun - Thur and 8pm Fri - Sat, a nightmare for partents of a child with set bedtimes, don't finish eating until about 9pm. Most of the food also cold even being first in didn't help.
Hotel are staff are friendly and the childrens club girls, Rita and Christina are wonderful with them.

| said: This 4 year old hotel is a great base. The rooms are modern and clean, there's no need to pack soap or shampoo as bottles of both are supplied together with a hair dryer.
Good variety of food in the restaurant, we have two fussy eating kids who never failed to find plenty to eat. Great location, come out of the front door, turn right and right again and the main shopping street is 200 yards on the left.
No problems sleeping as the hotel is in a quiet area.

| said: Clean and bright. Bedroom large with efficient air conditioning. Balcony got no sun at anytime of the day (203).
Pool nice with plenty of sun loungers.
Dining room - well, self service with everyone rushing around including the staff. The staff do work hard but it's very annoying when one person had finished and they come up and take away their plate. Cold buffet good but can't say the same about the hot food. None of it was piping hot. Two pieces of freshly cooked chicken was not cooked properly. I ask for a jug of water to be told I would have to buy bottled water. No tea or coffee offered after dinner.

| said: We stayed at the hotel Piramdes Salou at the end of August
2004.
We found the hotel very clean and well appointed,
but also found that most of the guests were Spanish, so the entertainment side of things was more for them.
The food was good, but again more for the Spanish.
I have stayed in Salou before at the hotel Sandiago many years ago, and found that Salou as not change much
in 23 years. There were the same bars and eating places and even the chemist I bought stuff from was still there.
We enjoyed Salou and the hotel very much and would return.
Universal and the water park are not to be missed.

| said: we stayed at the sol piramides in salou at the end of august 2004.
Hotel was always immaculately clean and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the majority spoke excellent english.
The hotel does have a large spanish clientele, but is none the worse for that, although the meals do have aspanish feel to them it was very easy to find something every night.Brakfast is a little fraught as the spanish tend to all appear about 9.15, so get there early.
The hotel is located in a quiet part of salou, but only 5 mins walk to the centre and the beach, therefore the area surronding the hotel is quiet at night.
Taxis to Universal were called by the hotel and cost about 6 euros.
This is a very friendly hotel suitable for families and couples, not groups of kids.

| said: The Sol Pirimide Hotel, Salou was clean and brightly furnished. I do not think it is suitable for families with babies or tots. The evening meal was not served until 7.30pm which was far too late for young children. It was difficult to find food suitable for tots.
The baby pool was cold - it was unheated and in the shade until 2pm. There was a small play area consisting of a slide and wendy house which was poorly maintained.
The hotel is a good 10 minute walk to the beach.

Stayed here (H/B) from 03/08/02 for a week. Newly opened, everything clean and in good working order. Proper air con in rooms at night is a real bonus. Free tv in rooms, although the sky satelite (English language channels only) broke down on our 2nd night and wasn't fixed before we left. At least 80% of the clientele are Spanish, (this applies to Salou as a whole as well), so the food and entertainment is more prepared for their liking than Brits. Food, although well cooked and presented well, was a disapointment unless you like up to 3 different varieties of fish every day. Kids will struggle, one day there wasn't even any potatoes on the evening meal menu, let alone chips! Breakfast was a typical 2* spanish affair of scrambled egg and hot dog sausages, although the continental selection looked ok. You have to pay for your drinks with the evening meal, can be expensive with kids at £1 a small bottle of coke.
Bar prices in general are expensive, 90p for half pint beer, £7 for a jug sangria. Snack bar by pool also expensive, in comparison with the resort as a whole.
Walking distance from Universal studios for the fit ones, there are buses and mini trains just around the corner.
No exeptional rowdiness or noise at night, just general high spirits.
Poor view of spanish apartments on one side of hotel, ask for a room at the front of hotel for morning sun.
I have stayed in other 'Sol' hotels, this deserves it's 4* status, although all other Sol hotels I have stayed at are 1/2 a star better than this one.
Easy walking distance to bars, beach and shops.
Great food at Robin Hood Pub 10 min walk away, (in main road opposite illuminated fountain by beach) also does all sky sports stuff saturdays, good evening entertainment as well.
Salou has a City feel about it, (felt like Madrid to me) it is a very large resort, with Brits only accounting for about 10% of the visitors, so the normal evening entertainment that you might expect in the Balearics for instance isn't to be found. Universal was good, felt like I was in the USA at times.
