Excellent location, very clean, rooms good, not five star as rated, facilities good, service from house keeping staff very good, singer in the bar average.

The food in the main restaurant was absoloutly in - edible if you are English, the restaurant has different countries theme nights every night except a British night.

It has Italian, Swiss, French, Oriental, Mediteranean, Asian which is really Egyptian night.

The food on the live station outside was not cooked always blood red and tough. The A LA CARTE MENU is very expensive and even in here the chefs could not even cook a basic steak when asked for cooked through it came back bloody, and after retuning it and waiting another hour the second was exactley the same as the first.

So only go on b&b basis we wasted £200 as we ate out every night in Jem`s Murphy`s bar, seven days seven ways restaurants in town.

We stayed here for a week in April and it was a great holiday.

Its located on crocodile island which is perfect if you want a hotel away from the very centre of the resort, access to it though is fine because there are plenty of taxi's outside and even a free shuttle bus which runs regularly.

The rooms were an OK size for 3 adults, cleaned everyday and you can ask for clean towels and bed sheets as often as you want, you just need to put the little card thats in your room on your bed.

Food was nice, there was a themed night every night for the evening meal (french, oriental etc), plenty of variety to choose from, we were b&b so the meal cost about £15pp. Breakfast was nice also, no bacon because of the religion (they dont eat pork), sausages were made from beef. There is serial, fruit, yogart, pancakes etc as well as the cooked food.

Drinks are quite expensive, a G&T cost about £5, a bottle of stella cost about £2.50 and a glass of wine about £4.00.
There is a small gift shop which also sells medication which is good for the upset stomachs.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and well kept, all the rooms are spread around the gardens in bungalow style which all have terraces with 2 chairs and a table as well as 1 sun lounger.

Staff were very helpful although did take their time bringing your drinks. If you dont want to pay for things there and then you can have it charged to your room.

We went on a Fellah's Tent night which was great with belly dancers etc, food id included in this, the tent is located within the grounds.

The 2 pools are nice, the infinity pool is the largest with a lot of sun loungers and plenty of shade, the other pool is a lot quieter and smaller which is just for adults.
Would definately recommend this hotel as everything was great and would return.

This hotel is in the form of terraced bungalows set in huge gardens and grounds on its own island about 7 minutes by Courtesy Bus from the centre of Luxor.

It has 2 excellent pools, one for adults only, and an infinity pool which has slides, fountains etc for children. Both have lifeguards and bar and food service. The service area contains Reception, Bar, Shop, Library, free safe deposit boxes, internet connections, Autobank and Bank. Everything is on ground level.

There are loads of activities - garden tours, kitchen tours, Arabic lessons, football tournaments, table tennis, birdwatching, classical music sunset concerts and usual excursions.

A buffet breakfast is served in the main restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the Nile and is very good. There is a differently themed evening buffet(cost LE148. nearly £15. pp plus drinks)and an a la carte restaurant(book early)where main courses cost between about £4 and £12, which we found to be better. All the veg is grown in the hotel grounds.

The hotel is kept very clean, although the rooms are very dated and the brown tiled bathrooms quite often have minor faults although with plentiful hot water and clean towels.

Use mineral water to clean your teeth. There are a few channels in English on the sat.TV. There is a small covered patio outside each bungalow with chairs, a table and sunlounger.

There are plenty of flowering shrubs filled with birdlife, and even a small zoo with sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a crocodile which ate its mate and half of a pelican's beak, and the pride of the keeper's heart, a camel called Cleopatra.

The Hotel has a private Waterbus which goes into Luxor 3 times a day, and also 3 private feluccas. The Courtesy bus goes into town every hour.

All the staff at the Hotel are very cheerful and helpful.

The clientèle seems to be very mixed - there were a few business conferences while we were there, also plenty of Egyptian families as well as Germans, Belgians and French.

The Movenpick is outside of the hustle and hassle of Luxor, but also very quiet, so you would have to go into Luxor for a lively time.

I would recommend this Hotel for families with small children and couples looking for a restful holiday.

The Movenpick was great the food was first class could not find fault with anything except for New Years Eve they held a party and I felt that there where no health and safty factors as the dinning room was over filled with only one door as the other was blocked by the stage. Had there been any reason to leave in a hurry over two hundred people could not have exited the one door quickly

Very clean and comfortable hotel, although the rooms were very dated.

The breakfasts were good but the lunches and dinners were bland and uninspired, apart from the a la carte.

We liked the location of the hotel as it was a non hassle oasis, we always felt very secure.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The entertainment was dire, the bar singer was worse, he drove me from the drink, unforgivable. The belly dancer wasn't bad.

The adults only and infinity pool were excellent.

Free shuttle bus and boat excellent.

This hotel is clean the staff are really nice and the food we booked bed and breakfast but also ate there at lunch was really nice.

The location is a way from the hustle and hastle but just ask security staff outside to ring Jabber and you won't go far wrong no hastle, and very trust worthy.

Say Hi from us please. Didn't stay in for entertainment went into luxor everynight to eat and drink. This was our fifth time to egypt so we know what we are doing. Take my advise and you'll have a wonderful time.

I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. It was a wonderful holiday and we plan to return again.

Breakfast was self service with a good range to suit all tastes, hot breakfast included eggs cooked to your preference by the chef. Lots of fruit, cereal, different types of bread and cold cuts.

Snacks are available during the day and there is a choice of a themed buffet, Fleur restaurant or terrace dining each evening. Room service is provided if needed.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and there are lots of staff sweeping the paths, tending the gardens and keeping the rooms clean and tidy. Nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel is situated on Crocodile Island in the middle of the Nile with fantastic sunsets. The island situation makes it a really safe place to holiday.Vehicles are checked as they cross the bridge to the island and an airport style scanner is situated at the hotel entrance. The gardens are wonderful.

Staff are extremely polite and very good at remembering names, favourite drinks, etc.

Entertainment depends upon your taste. If you like to sit and listen to singers each evening then you are stuck with MR CITI who has a liking for Frank Sinatra. The same songs each evening, but an experience not to be missed..."My Way" in a strong Egyptian accent. However, there is classical music while the sun sets, traditional music in Fellah's Tent, bike rides, 2 pools, a zoo, garden tours, the usual table tennis, a football pitch, two tennis courts.........the list goes on and on. Something for everyone.

My only grumble would be the weather!!! I expected Egypt to be hot..but 45C was our coolest day. We will certainly return, but at a cooler time of year.

We booked this hotel as a late deal, booked on Tuesday flew out Wednesday. Got a great deal we think for what we got. Had traveled to Egypt before but to sharm not Luxor. Luxor airport was excellent, no trouble getting visas, £10 each, passport control etc excellent.

Arrived at Movenpick resort, this is entered along long narrow bridge, had bus checked by security before being allowed to continue.

When we got to the hotel, we were told to leave our cases outside and when we had checked in give the porters your room numbers and they would bring your cases. Check in was very quick and easy, whilst you are waiting for your roomkey, you are given a cool drink (complementary). Given directions to room and also voucher for 1 free drink from crocodile bar, to use at any time during your stay.

Rooms were a little dated but everything worked perfectly, air con TV fridge etc.

As for the complex I have never been anywhere where the service is as fantastic as it is here, nothing was too much trouble, the bar staff would bring you bottles of water complete with ice bucket and ice to keep it cool, cost £1, same for soft drinks, beer was £2.20 or £2.40 depending on which you dank, we drank Meister beer.

Food all reasonable priced, lunch for 2 people with drinks was about £10.00. Whilst we were there you had option of buying meal tickets for your evening meal, you got a choice of 3 restaurants, buffet, al a carte and BBQ, this cost £30 each for three meals, £10 per head per night, would definitely recommend the al a carte. Overall this was excellent value for money holiday, relaxing the infinity pool is great, you can watch the cruise boats passing, with amazing friendly service, the waiters never expecting tips, even though the service you get deserves it.

Would definatly return to this hotel, and are looking at other movenpick hotels, especially if the service is as good as it was here.

Breakfast buffet excellent, great selection. Hotel reception very plush and bungalows spotlessly clean, sheets changed everyday.

Showers quite powerful, towels plentiful. We were given rooms next to each other without even requesting them, which was great.

Food was good in the hotel bar but found the international buffet nights disappointing as the food was nothing like the country it represented even the desserts which look fantastic don't taste fantastic. room service meals were excellent, fast and very tasty, always displayed nicely with a vase of flowers for a romantic touch. Ice-cream was the best.

It annoyed me that the signs were up not to save loungers by the pool but they were being saved anyway and even if you were at the pool first you had to find a lounger without a towel already on it.

I felt safe in Movenpick, I liked the location as the free shuttle bus and boat service were very reliable, the taxi's were very cheap, you had to haggle a bit but that was ok.

The staff were very friendly and helpful if you asked for a kettle to make coffee for yourself they would get you one, no extra charge.

Entertainment left much to be desired it was the same man every night singing the same songs, but you always had the town of Luxor to go to or you could visit another hotel and see what they have on.

I would visit this Swiss run hotel again, for the little touches alone make you feel pampered. The views at breakfast over the Nile are breath-taking.

The Swiss owned Hotel Jolie Ville Movenpick, in Luxor is set on 'Crocodile Island', it's own island in the Nile. Rooms are in bungalows throughout the grounds, and thus all have either a Nile or garden view. Standard rooms have large twin beds, bath/shower, hairdryer, direct dial phone, satellite TV, mini fridge, 24hr room service, and are spacious and comfy. Linens were changed daily, each night someone would come round with a free insert for the plug in mosquito repellant supplied, turn down the bedcovers, and place a little 'crocodile kiss' treat on the pillow.

The hotel has one medium size pool currently, but were in the process of completing a new pool whilst we were there - a huge glamorous pool with waterfall, and generous sized children's pool with play equipment. We saw the pool being cleaned every night. There is a lifeguard on duty during the main day.

The grounds are well kept and attractive, sunbeds are plentiful, although finding shade can be tricky if you arrive later in the day. The hotel provides towels free of charge. There is a poolside snack bar, serving the like of burgers, chips, spring rolls, tortillas, pop etc, as well as very high quality movenpick ice cream, with waiter service at the pool side. Each morning about 11am, free fruit juice cocktails were handed out around the pool, and about 4pm coffee, tea and cake was served.

There is plenty to keep you occupied on the island, it has it's own felucca boat, which you can charter to go out onto the Nile, a 'Fellah's Tent' where Egyptian evenings are held, a small zoo including camels and donkeys which you can ride on, tennis courts, football pitches, hairdresser, 2 masseuses (the male one Mr Ibrahim was very good), ping pong, giant chess, staff employed to facilitate what you wanted to do - helped my OH get set up to fish in the Nile, jogging track etc.

Every evening at sunset, classical music was played on the sunset terrace - a very nice touch. There is an area for sitting of an evening sipping mint tea, and watching the stars over the Nile - quite romantic.

The food is superb - breakfast is buffet style, with an overwhelming array of choice. Served from 5.00am until 10.30am. Fruits, cereals, yoghurts, cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, cooked meals, jams, fruit juices - best breakfast selection I have ever seen. Tea and coffee are served by waiters.

The evening meal is either taken a la carte on the terrace, or there is a themed buffet every night - mexican, fish, egyptian, international etc - again with a fantastic selection from which to choose. Food appeared to be well cooked, beautifully presented, and the waiter service was excellent.

The hotel goes out of it's way to make every little touch perfect - from the ability to change your pillows to differing softness, to the fact that the loos are spotless, cleaned every hour and stocked with fresh flannels etc.

Safety deposit boxes are free, and located in reception. There is a small lending library, a gift shop, and an outlet of the Bank Of Egypt in the lobby, complete with ATM.

There is a courtesy bus into Luxor that runs regularly, and a few boat trips each day into Luxor also. However, taxis are very cheap, and will wait for you and take you back to the hotel. Prices are very low also, to be taken by taxi to the many sites and temples around Luxor.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, as all people in Egypt appear to be. We felt safe and welcome wherever we went, but then we made sure that we were dressed appropriately if we went into Luxor, which we felt helped. Not once were we hassled or stressed out with haggling - indeed mny of the shops had large signs proclaiming tht they were 'hassle free', or that staff were not allowed to push a sale.

All in all, the Movenpick Jolie Ville is an impressive resort hotel, that I would have no hesitation in recommending, and which we are planning to go back to at the earliest opportunity.
