The hotel is situated in Cap Salou at the end of a road next to Llarga beach. There was no parking at the hotel for our car so you have to go across to the Punta Dorada and pay 15 Euros a day!! To use their underground car park. There is parking out on the street but never came across a space the whole week we were there.

The reception area was big and clean and the receptionist seemed friendly. I had emailed the hotel prior to arrival and had requested a sea view room which we got. The room had two double beds pushed together and was very small for two adults and two children, some of other rooms were bigger when we walked past and peeked in. We had a lovely sea view from our balcony.

The restaurant is located at the bottom of the hotel. Sometimes the lift works, sometimes it doesn’t so we had the carry the buggy down most days. You are shown to your table by a welcoming man, drinks are expensive. The food was not very good, I walked round the restaurant three times and couldn't find much I liked, most things were unidentifiable, I queued ages for some grill steaks thing that were being cooked and the guy before me in the queue took all of them but after noticing the chef cooking these items of food had enough sweat dripping off him to fill a pool and was doing nothing to stop it going onto the food I am glad the other people got them LOL. We ate out every night after that. The staff hover round your table waiting to take your plate and we got shouted at for sitting in the wrong place one morning. Breakfast was ok, some of the pastries were a bit stale some mornings and there were these things that resembled donuts that crumbled in your hand when you pressed on them due to being left out all week. The guests at the hotel were a mixture of French, Spanish and Russian, very few brits. So plenty of barging in and no queuing.

The pool area

Beds available until 9.30 most morning, same old story people leave towels on the beds all day and disappear out all day. I never seen the pool cleaned all week, in fact if you look closely you can see dirt on the bottom of the 2 pools and dirt in all the grill areas around the pool. The only time the area around the pool was cleaned was when they were anticipating a storm they rearannnged all the beds so the rain could clean the area.

The children's play area was a joke it was disgustingly filthy and tons of glass in the gravel, really really poor.

In the games room there were bare wires hanging out of the walls and blood on the walls.

Entertainment was geared towards the Spanish, which is fine as you are in Spain after all.

The hotel was about a 30 min slow walk into Salou. A taxi is about 8 Euros, the mini train was 7 Euros for two adults and 2 children. Bus stop at the top of the road. Avoid eating in the Knights Inn round the corner food was awful, some more restaurants in Cap Salou but never tried any, looked a bit of a dive, in fact the whole of Salou was dirty and disgusting.

The hotel has recently been upgraded to a four star, I think I would struggle to give it 2.

Also they leave the pool open all night, doesn’t close at 7 like they say, so if you fancied a quiet night you have kids screaming and diving in the pool until early hours. Also pets seemed to be allowed, they had a cat in the room next to us.

Overall we were pretty disappointed with our stay. The beds were to narrow causing me to fall out, complaining did no good, there were no extra pillows available, and the air conditioning was hopelessly inadequate, meaning hot sweaty nights. Not many receptionist's or bar staff spoke English (really frustrating). The food was good, but chilled quickly, there was no dress code, for evening meals, which meant you could be sitting next to someone wearing a vest, shorts and a knotted hanky for your evening meal, although the vast majority were dressed for dinner. It is never the less, a very clean hotel, nicely situated.

This is our first time in the Negresco Princess and we found the the food, the staff, the hotel location were all excellent.

We have stayed in other Princess hotels and this rates as one of the good ones.

We found the staff friendly and the the maid service was first class.

We had booked on a late deal with Thomson and we were
not disappointed with the hotel and its services.

Read previous reviews about hotel and was a bit apprehensive about the distance the hotel was away from Salou.

Not too disappointed. About a ten minute walk "slightly " hilly but comfortable to center. Very much a resort with plenty and Port Aventura and water parks a must if you have children or not, a fun day out.

Ideal time to go just before children broke up from school hardly any waiting time for the rides. Not a great fan myself found 1 day ticket enough but take advantage of the offers 7 days for 3 when you book holiday.

Grand entrance when you arrive at hotel lovely setting over-looking sea and a beach to the right. Rooms basic but cleaned every other fridge to rent if you need one did,nt bother but could of done with one.

If you like your tea or coffee take a kettle was pre -warned but did'nt. Food excellent a great choice partner is a veggy and he had know complaints but as anywhere there is always a few, staff excellent very high standard of waiter service could,nt find any faults. Pool usual thing with the sunbeds out early with the towels, if you can,t beat them join them.

Entertainment average a bit wearing when the parrot show is in four languages. Not your typical british very few when i was there and my daughter found it hard to meet friends, kid club but there was a bit of a language barrier

Over-all very good would return.

This hotel was great. It was situated just outstide of Salou in Cap Salou, which was nice as was away from the hussle and bussle when needed. It took us about 20mins to walk into Salou as a new path was built only a couple of years ago with easy access(but is fairly steep near the end, me & my partner are young and fairly fit so we did'nt have any problems). This path also took you to yhe beach which was nice and clean and the sea was wonderful. There is a bus into Salou just at the top of the road from the hotel, which was 1.20 euros and is easy to use and the bus drivers are usually friendly enough! There is a also a train that travellers through Cap Salou and goes to Salou (also goes as far as Port Aventura).

The hotel has brilliant views and the swimming pool is looking out over the sea and also great views of the beach. Our room was at the front of the hotel, which gave us a view of the sea and the hotel's pool opposite us, which was'nt bad. This hotel was the sister hotel (and we could use their facilities too).

The restaurant was great too as the staff were friendly and were always helpful. The food was nice but after 2weeks did come some what repetative. One good thing was that if you had a bottle of wine and could not finish it you could save it for the day after. They also had theme nights every Friday where the staff dressed up and a band played , which was really good.

The activities in the hotel were good for the children and the adults. Me and partner both joined in in the activities such as rifle shooting, darts, table tennis, badminton and franch bowls. The entertainment staff at the hotel were great and we could have a good laugh with them. Could not believe how many different languages they spoke. There are lots of different nationalitites at this hotel, but a good few english as made a few friends.

The hotel itself is a 5min walk from the small shops and bars in Cap Salou and we recommend Mickey's Bar with happy hours between 7 & 10. They have quiz's and Karaoke here too and we had a great time. This is also great for kids as they have pool, small arcade next door and a bouncy castle.

Overall I would recommend this hotel as we had a fantastic time and could'nt have wished for a more clean hotel. The staff were always helpful and the entertainment in the hotel was brilliant!!

The Negressco Princess is a beautiful hotel. The sea view rooms were out of this world.

The rooms were clean but with a camp bed and a cot in our room for the children we were tripping up over ourselves at times. My in-laws, however had the same room just for two and it was more than adequate.

The restaurant suited everybody. There was loads of variety and choice at both breakfast and dinner. They even catered for the picky eaters (our children!) providing chips, nuggets etc. I was a bit worried about my youngest daughter (14 months old) as she still has a bottle at bed time but there was no need to worry as the restaurant staff filled her bottle every night with milk at no charge and even offered to warm it for us.

The staff excelled themselves - my father in law took ill at the end of the trip and they did everything they could to accomodate us and we felt very reassured that my mother in law was in safe hands when she had to stay an extra week in the hotel while he was being treated at the local hospital.

The only gripe would be the stairs! The lifts are very small and only gave you access to all hotel rooms above ground floor. We has a double buggy that just to say fit in the lift. The pool and restauraunt are all below ground level and access is by marbles steps. There was a service lift if you asked staff but it was even smaller than the other ones and not readily available.

The hotel is a long, up and down hill walk from the centre of Salou. Some reports say it was a 10 minute walk but if you have kids and you are not super fit it could take you up to 40 minutes to an hour. There are plenty of buses right outside the hotel so its not too much of a problem.

The entertainment was varied and lots for the children (adults have to accompany any under 5's to the mini club). Brilliant hotel, superb staff but take a small buggy and not really for the less mobile.

My husband, parents, daughter(2) and I visited this hotel in May06. Only back a few days - the hotel is fantastic. We had a wonderful view of the pool and beach and had the sun in our balcony most of the day too. The rooms were great with the added bonus of air conditioning. The maids came in everyday to change towels etc we had no complaints.

The food in the hotel was good too - but you would have to have varied tastes. My dad is a strict meat & potaotes man and that was the only thing we missed some spuds! They did chips, garlic wedges and potato bake but we are great fans of good old fashioned mash and there was none on the menu at this hotel. Other than that, plenty of beef, chicken and fish. We never struggled to get our little girl to eat something either, she loved chef's pancakes at brekfast and ate well at dinner too (she was always rushing to the mini disco!) All the staff seems to love the kids which was nice.

Also liked being out of the centre of Salou. Salou far too busy so it was nice to be out it if you wanted.

We would definitely go back.

This hotel is so lovely.

Half board was just perfect as full board would have kept us too attached to the hotel.

The accommodation was really clean and tidy making a good impression to new comers. The spacious reception was very different to other hotels which was really nice.

One thing that really stuck out was the staff. They are so helpful and ever so friendly.

Food in the hotel was ok. A wide range of food was available on a buffet basis. All the family was happy with the food and entertainment.

Games and quiz's in the day and evening really gave the hotel the holiday atmosphere were children and adults could all join in the fun.

The hotel location was ideal as Salou was only a 15minute walk or a bus service was really cheap. Views from the hotel were amazing as the sea views from the balcony's were outstanding.

I would not hesitate to book in with this hotel again, a true value for money!

Was in salou for the first time October 2004 stayed at negressco princess lovely hotel. It took me us 15 - 20 mins maximum to reach city centre and about the same to go to la pineda.the hotel was great and I would definitely visit again. We also visited port aventura twice which was amazing especially the dragon khan rollercoaster. Also we visited aqua polis in la pineda which had dolphin show and also a sea lion show plus loads of great water slides and swimming pools. You can get good nights sleep as you are away from the city center.but only 5 mins on the bus or 20 mins walk. Only thing we didn’t like was the entertainment in the hotel. But it’s ideal for families highly recommended.

As I used sites like this to evaluate my eventual booking I thought I had a duty to contibute.

I arranged through the internet my own booking, I flew into Barca and hired a car. The Spanish motorways are good, the directions printed off the internet eventually, got me to the hotel. Parking is not a problem, if you are prepared to walk, I parked on the main road which left a 200-300 metre hike.

The Hotel itself was in a good location compared to other hotels I encountered in Salou itself, I say this because you were able to get a good night sleep!

Party animals do not depair, Taxis, buses are abundent, however walking with my son took 20-25 minutes to the centre.

Food was very good, plenty of variety, well cooked.

I was concerened by the reports of the lack of sunloungers, however, I arrived at breakfast for 09.00-09.15 and 'booked' my sunbed in the usual way.

The local beaches were not as big as I has envisaged, but seemed to be well liked by the people who used them.

We went to the Aquapark in Pinda which was a good day out.

The hotel entertainment I found a bit on the boring side, going to bed most nights by 11.30. The clientel at the hotel seemed to be a mix of British, French and Spanish, the entertainment I think was possibly trying to reflect that mix.

On the whole, a very good hotel.

The weather:- this is the second time I've been too Northern Spain, the weather on both occasions invoved lots of cloud, no rain, warm and a nice breeze off the sea.

Lovely hotel - great staff - all very helpful.

The Thomsons Rep Rachel was the best Rep we have ever had. Our son was taken into hospital and she was brilliant, as were the Dr who came to the hotel and the hospital staff. They even sent an interpreter to the hospital every day and sorted out all the insurance for us.

The hotel lobby is spacious, comfortable and clean.

You need to ask for a seaview room as they are stunning.

Entertainment was generally good - better than some 4* hotels we have stayed in.

There was a good variety of food, although not as good as some hotels we have been in.

The only downside of this hotel was the thinness of the rooms - you could hear every cough etc!!

Taxis to town and the theme park are quite cheap.

The Swim with Sealions was excellent.

I would like to start off with the fact that I really enjoyed my holiday and whatever I tell you this hotel is definately worth visiting at least once.

We walked through the front doors and were greeted by a huge, immaculate, marble covered reception room which really started us off on a high, the service on the front desk was great and the room was more than addequate for the two of us. We woke up in the morning, opened the curtains and the view really was like nothing you had seen before, all you could see was the pool and beyond that nothing but open-sea.

The food at both breakfast and dinner was supperb, there was always sufficient for the people who wanted the usuall ( chips/meat/veg ) and there was a different variety every day for the more adventurous. The choices of fish, meat, rice, soup, salad etc changed all the time, you never gor tired. And once a week they presented you with a themed night, where they put on food from around the world accompanied by the atmosphere.

When you drive up to the hotel you seem to be going up a long, quiet road and you think that you are miles from civilisation but i have to stress, don't be afraid to spend your first day exploring, you will be greatly supprised. There is a lot going on you do't realise at first.

The hotel staff were great, we didn't have a lot to do with them except when checking in and out but this is a good thing because you only need them when you have a problem ( not many of them ). The Thompson's staff though weren't quite so helpfull, they seemed to be young and inexperienced and couldn't help much with your queries. This seemed to go hand in hand with the entertainment though, the brochure we used stated that there was entertainment for all day and night, but what they don't say is, that over half of the residents are spanish and the shows / activities are either aimed or spoken towards them. You would soon realise that the hotel is not an ideal place to spend your night, kids or not, the entertainment is poor.

A lot of reports that I read spoke about the lack of sunbeds free around the pool but this can be easily overcome if you are willing to go for breakfast before 9 o' clock. Every time that we wanted to stay around the pool, we went for breakfast at 9:00 and then went for a bed, and we didn't have a problem once, although anybody that came after 10:00 had to go to the beach.

All in all though, the hotel was great, but you really nead to try ang get a room that is on the pool-side as the rest of them are a bit dissapointing, and the view we had was really amazing.

Well what can I say about this hotel. Its one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Peole who left on the same day as us all had a tear in there eye. This is a hotel that has that sort of affect on people. Its locations is perfect situated just outside of solou and just a 15 min walk to the main town. it overlooks a lovely bay with a wonderful beach. All the staff an this hotel are some of the best I've ever been served by, the waiters are sheer world class. Entertainment at this hotel is great. The entertainment staff realyy made our holiday. Maria, Rocia, Vanessa and luke are a real asset to the hotel. We just hope they are there when we go next year

This hotel made my holiday fantastic!

My first time in Salou with my 3 year old daughter I wanted it to be perfect.

The staff went out of their way for you, the food had good variety + was very nice.

Entertainment was ok, they have enough to keep the kids happy.

I wouldn’t fault this hotel in any way. Would recommend this for families or couples, we met a lot of friends + had a brill time.

The Negresco Princess is set in an ideal location, with stunning views. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly. The waiter service was very good.
Entertainment was a little repetitive, but i have to say that the staff worked hard to ensure that we all had a great time.
The hotel was clean, the only issue we encountered was a faulty electric socket. which when reported was repaired immediately.
There was a variety of foods available daily.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

This was our first trip abroad, 4 of us Me, my wife, stepson, age 18, and his friend also 18. We arrived at Reus airport at about 9.30 on Tues 10th Sept 2002. My first surprise was the size of the airport. I don't know what I was expecting but I wasn't expecting an airport so small. There was one guy on passport control who had no real interest in looking at passports. The luggage was off the plane and in our hands within 30 mins, which I thought quite reasonable.

Once settled on the coach we was off to Salou. We was about the 4th drop off. As we stopped at various hotels within Salou I noticed my wife getting more and more apprehensive. Some of the hotels we were stopping at didn't look the most inviting, and as it was her idea to go to Spain she knew I would be ready to ridicule her idea at the slightest invitation.
We stopped on the main Salou - La Pineda road and started to reverse down a side street. Out of the coach we got and grabbed our luggage. As I stood and looked round I saw a grubby waste land next to me, Oh dear, I thought. Then I turned and saw the hotel. Hmm better then the previous ones we had seen. And here begun probably one of the best Holidays in one of the best hotels we have ever been to.

A bit off the beaten track, about a mile from Salou. The hotel is set in quiet surroundings with another hotel in the Princess group opposite. It's served quite well with the buses which stop at the top of the road, avoid the train bus as this is about 3 times the price of the normal Pana buses.
On entering your faced with a very large reception area. There are only 2 small lifts, but hey, how long do you spend using a lift!. We had 2 rooms, 1 for us 1 for the boys. Although not huge they were more then big enough for the 2 of us. Air conditioned, TV, Phone and beds, what more do you need? Oh, why don't they have tea making facilities? Although we had been given a small kettle by a friend she forget to give us cups to go with it. If you need to buy a couple hunt around in Salou market, you'll be surprised at the difference in prices.

Meals are served in the basement restaurant, and yes there is some queuing but if you time it right they can be avoided, and you only need to show your meal card, no signing books.
The food is very good and varied, as seems to be the case in most reviews I have read in this forum.
with the wine waiters having a keen eye for customers.

There are 2 bars both a comfortable size, the main bar having a large sun terrace and the other, The Piano bar, having a large TV at one end and a piano player at the other, he arrives about 8.30, a good time to move on !!
The main nightly entertainment was varied and worked between the Negresco and the hotel opposite, so what you miss one week you can catch in the other hotel the second, I must take my hat off to the in house entertainment team, 3 guys and 3 girls. They provide games and competitions for kids and families during the day and then provide a cabaret show in the evenings, although not the best in the world the are a very talented bunch, well, they amused us on occasion.

The swimming pool area is clean and spacious with a main pool and a small "paddling pool". It also has a splendid sea view. We never had any problems getting sun beds and with a bar/snack bar is well serviced.
As for the bar staff and waiters, well you couldn't meet a nicer bunch. They even bought us a drink!

A small beach is a 10 minute walk away with sun loungers costing 3 Euro a day, not knowing any better It sounds ok to me.

The Thompson reps done a good job and were always around to answer any questions. We took the excursion to Barcelona taking in the zoo and football stadium with a couple of hours spare in the city, which was good.

We also ventured out on our own to Tarranoga. A word of warning here. My wife spent a very interesting few minutes glaring at 2 pick pockets who operate in the bus station. From what we could see this was the only place to pick up a bus from to get back to Salou, with a direct bus to the Negresco only leaving every hour. If you find yourself waiting for a bus take the first one to Salou and then get a cab or another bus back to the hotel. I'm pleased to say that my wife's glares scared them off and just like here, theres never a policeman about when you want one.

To end this novel I'll just say that the Negresco Princess is a very good hotel. I wont be going back next year because I've now got the travelling bug, but I will return one day as it's a Damn fine place. A few holiday snaps can be seen at:
