| said: We stayed here in the last week of September first week of October and thankfully were blessed with sunshine. It is not a bad hotel but its not fab either and of course whilst reviews vary I feel some on here are a little kind to this hotel.
The reception staff are fab, very helpful kind and really go all out to make you feel welcome. The rooms are dull,(ours was damp in one corner too)but we had been moved once and figured that the little bit of damp there was would not cause any harm anyhow. The rooms however are in dire need of refurb to compliment the so advertised 4 stars.
I dont think the location is great myself. Its on a busy road where cars speed up and down day and night. (Try really hard to get a pool view). We did request it on our original booking but alas did not get one.
The food is ok. I have eaten a lot better but also a lot worse so if you want top class perhaps think again. Drinks reasonably priced at meal times which was good. Lunch and dinner can be swopped about to on your half board ticket and that too is really good!
It is quite close to the central town but certainly not "close" to the beach.
Should you go??? Possibly but look at the other options. Dont pay really big money to go here. The Best Cambrils on the outskirts of Salou and Cambrils looked nice and another one called the Golden Donaire in La Pineda which is actually owned by the same chain I believe as the Golden Port.
I did'nt mention the kids jumping in and out of the adults only jacussi and spitting water everywhere! Well I guess that is more the fault of the parents really but the hotel also needs to smarten its act up a bit!

| said: What can I say, the hotel shows 4* outside & Thomsons advertise it as 4* - it's not - I would say it's a mediocre 3*.
The hotel location is not good and rooms look out on to a building site at the front, untidy blocks of flats on two sides and the pool at the rear. It's a 15 minute walk from the beach/main part of the town and the pavements (if you can call them that) are poor - health & safety would have prevented people walking on them in this country.
The public areas of the hotel and the rooms themselves were spotless and the although the rooms were small they had tea making facilities, a fridge & air conditioning - all of which worked well. The bathroom was another story - small with black mildew on the grout, a discoloured bath and a toilet that rocked.
The dining room was too small for the number of guests and quite often - morning & evening there were queues of 20 to 50 people waiting to be seated. The food was ok - plenty of it and most of the time it was hot but because there were never any hot plates to put the food on, by the time you arrived back at your table it was starting to get cold.
Other irritating things - the entertainment team take massive amplifiers outside as do other nearby hotels and they can be heard half a mile away - bingo every night - drinks that tasted different every time and waiters who kept bringing you things you hadn't asked for - sadly not our scene and this is one hotel we will never go back to.

Mini fridge and tea&coffee making in our room which is unusual for half board. Great location, lovely staff and brilliant food. I plan to use this particular hotel chain in the future. This is a real 4 star hotel. I am a very fussy eater and not only enjoyed the meals here but looked forward to them. There is a lovely small beach just a short walk from the golden port, there are also many shops etc. If anyone is thinking about going to salou, look at this hotel you will not be disappointed

| said: I have no complaints about this hotel, it was one of the best I've ever stayed in. Room was spacious and comfortable, it even had a fridge which I didn't expect with it being a hotel but it was great for keeping the aftersun in! The TV also has ITV and BBC along with various other channels which was great when you needed to escape the sun. Safety deposit boxes were also available in the room. We were lucky and had a pool view, other rooms did overlook a building site. As it was so busy we could not get late checkout room but we were able to use another room to have a shower, this room is only available for a limited time during the day though and with numerous flights going on the same day make sure you get in early.
Rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed as necessary, maids were very friendly and had no problem coming back at a later time if requested.
I was wary booking a half board holiday as I normally go self catering, but was pleasantly surprised, the range and quality of food was amazing. It was buffet style with vast amounts of food and something for all nationalities and the staff were really efficient, there was never any waiting around for empty trays to be replaced.
The sunlounger dash at 9.00 is like nothing I've ever seen, there are a limited amount of sunloungers around the pool which get taken up early, but there are more further out which you can get if you go down later but after 11 you'll probably have to settle for the chairs on the terrace.
The location was ok, about 10mins walk to the shops and 15-20mins walk to the beach.
The entertainment was great, there was always something going on day and night (but you could also choose to just relax). Israel, Isobel and Nathan were really funny for both adults and children, we stayed in the hotel most nights rather than going into Salou for the bars.
There is a gym and a Spa in the hotel offering many treatments at reasonable prices, I would recommend a visit.
If I ever went back to Salou I would definitely chose to stay here again.

Good range of very good food, even freshly cooked pancakes and omelettes available every morning and you could even boil your own eggs. You could also swop to have you dinner at lunchtime instead of night, which we did a few times to go to the theme park. Sunbed rush at 9 when doors opened for the best places in the morning but we always still found ones no matter what time of day. We got our requests, top floor (7th) overlooking pool. Had sunbeds on our large balconcy which got the sun all day. We did not hear any noise from the building works, which appears to be quiet anyway. Biggest bonus was a mini fridge, its almost hid behind a door in a dressing table, so not immediately obivous. Vending machines on every floor. I would not hesitate to stay in this Hotel again as it ticked all the boxes.

Rooms clean and comfortable. Although rooms at the front face a large building site and quite busy road)Food choice and variety excellent for both adults and children. Themed nights.
Hotel entertainers, Israel, Nathan & Isobel very funny and good with children. Great shows (although these do not start until 10pm) Bejing Acrobats and a snakeman. Films on in the afternoon to keep children amused if you want them out of the sun for a while. Happy hour 8-9pm (2 for 1) on selected drinks.
Only a short walk to the main street, shops and amusements and beach.
We would definitely come to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.

| said: We stayed at the Port Salou Hotel for a week in May. We were very happy with the holiday overall.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy, reasonably positioned (away from the noise, but a short walk away from outside entertainment). It's a fair walk to the beach for little ones, about 20 minutes.
Ask for a pool view room, otherwise you end up overlooking a busy road with building work going on at present. Our room had a pool view and was a good size, with a double and two single beds.
The food was good, plenty of choice... salads, numerous different main course choices and puddings galour!
Its only 5 minutes taxi ride from PortAventura (if theres a few of you get a taxi it's cheaper than the bus) which is also a good day out.
Overall we enjoyed our time at the Port Salou hotel and would stay again if we were to visit Salou again.

The location is about a 20 min waqlk to the front and beach and our view was a building site directly opposite our room with a busy main road below us also.
The staff were friendly and polite at all times.
Some of the entertainment was good, Isreal,Nathan and isobel were quite energetic at times and were good with the children.
We did not like the snake man doing fire eating in front of the kids and pushing knives up his nose its not for youngsters to see.

We had a great time and met some wonderful friends. The rooms were good, we had nice view of the pool, only thing it was abit noisy at bed time as we were over the entertainment hall.
Daughter loved the entertainment, even thought there wasnt anything geared for kids, but it was good. The pool was clean. Food was great, only nothing for the kids apart from chips, but my daughter still eat well.
Staff ok, the most friendly were the chambermaids, and bar staff and room was always kept clean. nothing I can fault the hotel on at all really.
Best holiday in years!!!

If you visit you must watch magic show everyone enjoyed it.
Food was very good.
Can't complain about hotel at all. We stayed for a week and had the best entertainment I've ever seen in the form of what we called the sunbed run. At 9 every morning young old and very young children running like a mad mob to put towels out for the day.
We didn't get a sunbed all week, this was our third visit to Salou and our most entertaining, yet the indoor pool not too good as there are a few steep steps down to it.
All in all not a bad hotel at all.

| said: This was our third visit to The Golden Port Salou and I would highly recommend it to anyone with children.
I have 4 children aged between 2 and 12 and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Israel, David and Isabel the entertainment team work extremely hard all day providing games and activites for adults and children.
All the staff are very helpful.
The rooms are quite basic but cleaned everyday.
We had 2 rooms with an interconnecting door which was great for the kids and also gave us two bathrooms.
The food is excellent, plenty of choice at breakfast and evening meal with a lovely outside dining area.
The pool area is very clean but I do think the hotel should stop people from saving sunbeds.
There are guests of all nationalities which I prefer and is good for the kids.
Many people who visit the hotel return year in year out like us because it is of such a high quality.
We have stayed in other hotels in Salou like the H10 Europa Park and also the also the Cye Holiday Centre but this is definitely the best.
If booking do not go through a tour operator, book your flights with Ryanair and the hotel through Sky Travel, we saved a packet.
The transfer from the airport is only about 20 minutes and should cost under 30 euros.

| said: The communial areas of this hotel are very clean and well kept, although we found the room a bit shabby for a three star, and could do with updating. the rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed when required.
the pool was very clean, but the space for sunbeds was a bit cramped. if you go in high season as we did you will need to be up by 9am for the daily sprint if you want a particular sunbed. but there are still some spaces left if your not to choosey.
we found the pool just got to crowded and spent our second week at the beach.
be warned a number of people came down with a tummy bug including all 3 of us in the second week, which we were told was a virus, but we didn't take any chances and ate out for the last few days.
the entertainment staff worked really hard throughout the day and night with something for everyone including plenty for kids.
The resturant was adequate, but there did seem to be a lot of pork. it was on the menu every night!!.

| said: We stayed in the Avenida Park last year and thought we'd try its sister hotel this year.
The hotel foyer is very impressive - all marble and very spacious. There are 3 lifts which could do with being air conditioned. We were on the 3rd floor (room 301) and used to use the stairs mostly. Note that the hotle staff don't take too kindly to walking in the foyer with bare feet!
Our room was very spacious and I believe was one of the bigger rooms in the hotel. We had 4 single beds as well as a sofa bed.
There was a small tv which we never actually switched on. The bathroom was basic, but clean nevertheless. We had a pool view and the balcony was a reasonable size with 2 chairs and a small table. There was plently of storage with 2 large wardrobes and plenty of hangers.
We were a bit worried about having a room next to the lift shaft, but there was no noise at all (unlike our room in the Avenida Park - room 101 aka the room from hell!!)
The hotel food was good - the only reason I have given 4/5 is because I felt the childrens choice could have been a bit more varied. There was always a good variety for the adults. Caution - be sure to check whether you're selecting Onion Rings or Calamari - they both look the same but of course taste completely different!
Breakfast is served between 8:00 & 10:30 and evening meal between 19:00 & 21:30.
The bar has a happy hour between 20:00 & 21:00 and can get quite busy during this period. You get 2 drinks for the price of one - excluding bottled beer.
Bar prices are very good - €2 for bottled beer (Bud, Heineken & Corona) and €2.50 for a pint of Amstel.
Entertainment was good - something different every night. There is bingo, then a mini disco before the main entertainment starts. Our kids (9 & 4) loved the disco. The main entertainer is a guy called Israel who I remmeber from last year - he's very good.
Now to my main gripe about this hotel - the queue for sunbeds!!! This is something that had to be seen to be believed. The slidding doors to the pool terrace are closed until 9:00am. A queue started forming from 8:00am (yes that's not a typo - 8 o'clock i.e. a full hour before the doors opened). By 8:55am, the queue stretched right back to the reception desk in the foyer. When the doors open, it's a mad dash, the likes of which I have never seen before in my life. Grown men are seen pushing women, children and the elderly out the way to get to theier preferred sunbeds. By 9:05am, nearly all the sunbeds will have been "claimed". the exception would be on transfer days when people were getting ready to leave. I have to be quite honest and say that the carry on for sunbeds in the morning would actually put me off coming back to this hotel. That's how bad it was. The people with pool views used to have some great free entertainment watching the sunbed dash each morning!
The good think I liked about this hotel was the varied nationalities that were around the pool. Unlike the Avenida Park which was almost 100% British, the Port Salou had a very goo dmixture of Dutch, Belgian, French & Spanish. Indeed, i would say the British were pretty much in the minority.
Overall, we had a great time and but for the carry on for sunbeds in the morning would definitely go back.

| said: My friend and I stayed at this hotel for a long bank holiday weekend in May of this year.
We booked our flights using Ryanair and booked the hotel through a website called Alpha Rooms. I say this first off because I met many people at this hotel who had come with tour operators and paid around £350.00 each for the week. If you get cheap enough flights like we did and book the hotel independantly you could stay a week HB for less than £200.00 each and the the taxi to the hotel from Reus Airport is less than 30 euros.
So.. what did we think of the hotel.?.. We had a top floor room with a huge balcony with a table, chairs and 2 sun loungers. Our room was overlooking the pool and we had sun all day.! If you do book this hotel be sure to request a floor on the 7th floor as these were the only rooms with sun loungers on the balconies and sun all day as there was nothing above us. The room itself was small but the bathroom a nice size it was clean throughout and there was a TV with limited english channels and a hairdryer.
The food was of typical spanish half board fare. Though I agree with past comments on this website that the gala nights on Fridays are exceptional. My friend is a vegetarian and we really did believe they could have catered for her tastes more. Needless for me to explain in more detail but if you are a meat lover this is the hotel for you.
The bar area was quite classy for a bulk standard spainish hotel and the prices suprisingly cheap. They have happy hour between 8pm and 9pm every night - 2 pints of San Miguel for 2 euros as an example. We only saw one of the entertainment acts which was a take off of 'The Temptations' and I have to say it was rather good. We found that the shows were always on too late though as by then we were out in Salou town.
The location of the hotel was great.. in a quieter area of Salou but a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and there was a large selection of shops and bars just yards away. When at the beach go to the 'lunatic' bar just on the promenade left of the huge fountain, the Pina Colada's are amazing and the square pizza's are delicious.. say hi to Eddie for us if you do.!
The only real complaint I have about this hotel is the pool area and the lifts. The pool area really did need a good clean especially the pool itself, I think if it had been nicer we would have spent more time there. As for the lifts they needed some airconditioning as they were like mini sauna's.
While you are in Salou visit the Aquapolis Waterpark and swim with Sealions.. an amazing and truely educational experience - lasts around 45 minutes and costs only 45 euros. They also have big 'scary' waterslides there and a dolphin show.
It goes with out saying visit Porta Ventura but if you do go at the weekend and in the evening.! Saturday nights they are open till 10pm atleast and midnight in the school holidays.. it's cooler and quieter in the evening with hardly any ques and they often have fireworks too.
It is really easy to get to Barcelona from Salou, with the train and buses. Then Zoo is worth and visit as is the Football Stadium and the shopping is plentiful.
Lastly get on a Catermeran and sail from Cambrils for a few hours.. beautiful.! Visit one of the tourist information booths they will book you on and for 33 euros the company picks you up from your hotel, drives you to the harbour. You get 3 hours sailing with free drinks on board, snorkelling and then driven back to your hotel afterwards.
I don't think I can say much more other than.. enjoy.!!

| said: Having read some of the reviews I was worrying myself daft about this hotel abit but I need not have worried!
The hotel at first entrance has a big well lit stunning looking marbled reception/lobby with three lifts and leather seating area's.
The hotel staff were great we have previously stayed in some 4 and 5 star hotels but then staff here were the most helpful by far and i can't fault them at all.
Now the food I have heard alot of people critisiing it and as I said I was worried sick having been spoilt on my last holiday at the Bitacora hotel in Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife who have amazing reviews by all and simply to die for food that I had made a huge mistake in coming to this hotel but what I found was a fantastic aray of buffet food always cooked perfectly and bountifully with constant replacement when the plate was 3/4 gone.
They have fantastic special celebration meal nights with the food being even better then the main nights. My mum who is a icky vegetarian ( who some times eats a little meat) but is very picky as she also use to be a chef herself and is impossible to feed at the best of times absolutely loved thsi food more then the last 2 four star hotels she stayed at..
On the celebration nights if you wonder over the the desert department there is a bottle of champayne for you to fill your glasses up with free... :0)
The only downside about the food was the icecream in my previous hotels we had been spolit with vast arays of scoop your own icecreams but this hotel was a complete let down with the tiny little sealed tubs of bland plain boring bog standard choc/strawberry or vanilla choice... yuck!!
The rooms well we stayed in a four bed pool view we didn't pay for a pool view just requested one via email and they kindly gave us and my parents one which was fab!. Both the three and 4 bedded twins rooms were spacious with good wardrobe space and seperate cabinet/draw space.
You get a tv with a remote control which had us watching either the sky movie chanels on some days and the bbc world news and bbc 1 which was fab for eastenders. There is also a hair dryer in the bathroom so no need to take your own.
Lots and lots of towels were provided and replacement tiolet rolls. Our room and my parents was cleaned daily and was absolutely fine I don't think the bedlinen was changed all that often tho to be honest.
The only probs we had with our room was that the shower head was broken and the tiolet was loose and not attached to the wall or floor so made a noise and movment when siting on it..
I reported these probs the janitor came straight up and fixed the shower head replacing it immeidatley but the tiolet no matter how many times I reported it never seemed to get fixed regardless of how many times the reception staff attempted to have someone fix it my husband says this was prob due to it being on a tile floor and that they could no fix it.
My mum and dad's room tiolet had no probs though.
The entertainment well was your typical stuff you can't expect a huge ammount from it the magic show and puppet show was fab tho and you should def look out for those ones.
Happy hour everynight 8-9pm is fab two for the price of one.. yipeeeeeeee...And food and drinks in the hotel were cheap really cheap we were quite shocked at that as normally hotels drinks are quite pricey.
In general salou seems to be very cheep to be honest.
The pool was far to cold to go into it and even the indoor heated pool was quite cold to be honest but they did have a fabulous free jaccusi which i simply could not get myself out of :) They also have a sauna but you have to pay 6 Euro's for it.
They had a free gym and games room with pool tables outside and inside. Also a cinema type room.
Internet access which was 1 Euro for Ten mins which was fab.
If I was trying to find something wrong with the hotel I would say it could have done with some maintenance to be honest simple little things like 2 of the sliding glass doors although intact with cracked through them but you never know maybe come the end of the season they will repair them..
Also the pools could have done with a good clean.
Still we walked down to the Golden Avienda the sister hotel and to be honest thanked our lucky stars as our hotel was far nicer and cleaner and less shabby then that one.
We also had a hired an inroom safe at 17 E a week with a returnable 10E deposit which was fab no probs at all with that..
Would I recommend this hotel absolutely if your going to salou its certainly a great hotel..

We found the hotel great our room was very clean and plenty big enough, the pool was lovely everywhere seemed very clean, the staff at the bar were a very friendly and the happy hour 2 for 1 was a bonus!
The food is buffet style in the main restaurant and there were plenty of choice, and you can have snack food in the bar area at lunch time which was very reasonable. The hotel seemed to be mainly couples and families all of our experiences were positive including our trips to Port-ventura, Montsterratt and Barcelona.

| said: We travelled to hotel Gold Port Salou on 13 August 2005 for two weeks. It was not what we expected.
The room was so small it had one wardrobe between four of us.
The food was poor same old stuff day in day out there was not much choice for the kids. Within two days of been here we all came down with sickness & diarrhoea.
On third day our safe got robbed of all our money and two credit cards, the staff were not very helpful and we left a week early.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

| said: After two weeks in the Golden Port hotel I am afraid to say that we will never be returning to the hotel or the resort. We were not impressed by Salou and found it to be quite grubby (totally dirty and disgusting in some places). There was nowhere in the resort you could go for a quiet meal/drink or to relax. It was overpacked and could only be compared to an oversized British holiday camp.
The hotel itself and staff were lovely, and even though the rooms were very basic (and the walls paper thin), they were adequate and cleaned regularly. And a warning - Be careful of the patio doors to the balcony as they automatically lock when you shut them so you can easily get locked out!
The food was not very good (even for a 3*)and most nights your choice was cheap cuts of meat with chips or cold rice/pasta. If you had been served it at home you would send it back. The breakfast wasn't much better and even though we paid for half board we ate out most days and nights.
The entertainment programme was awful and as the main room had pillars throughout so you had to make sure you were down early to get a seat from which you could see the stage.
Also, in a hotel which appeared to be mainly family orientated I am surprised anyone could get their children to sleep at night with the noise of some of the residents running up and down corridors and banging doors until all hours of the morning.
Also, most people "reserve" their sun loungers (and one for each of their children as well) during the 9am sunbed rush every morning (even though some people didn't appear until after lunchtime). We were only able to get a sun lounger on our last day.
Unfortunately this holiday was not to our taste and I think even if we had children we would consider another location.

| said: We arrived at the hotel at 11.15am and had to wait for our room. We were told 1pm but it was ready at 12.15pm. We did however know about this from previous reports and packed swimming gear at the top of the case so the children weren't disappointed.
The rooms we asked for for a pool view and next to each other, they were, with the added benefit of an interlocking door. The rooms were clean and we had maid service every day.
The hotel food was excellent. We stayed half board and ate in every day. The bar staff and waiter service were excellent, and they all spoke reasonably good english.
My kids didn't join in with the hotel entertainment for kids but what I saw they were very good, especially the mini disco. There was an Aqau gym in the pool evry morning and various other activities during the day to keep you entertained if you wanted to.
The evening entertainment was varied, there was some good acts and some dogy ones, but its all down to personal taste. I would say all in all it was good. The hotel entertainment finished at 12midnight and the bar shut at 1am.
The beach was about 10-15 min walk away and the shops about 10. There was a local supermarket just nearby the hotel wich stocked english papers and other essentials.
We had a really good time in Salou and at this hotel. The only thing we didn't like was the sunbed rush in the morning. Pool access was locked until 9am then it was a mad rush to obtain a sunbed. We didn't like doing this as it seemed degrading to fight over sunbeds, but if you didn't you didn't get one. The pool is surrounded by trees and the sun is only on the louhgers for 1/2 a day for most of the beds, so observe and pick carefully.
My summary is a pleasent, clean and friendly hotel with great food and entertainment. We would deffinetly go again.

| said: I really enjoyed my holiday at the Golden Port Salou hotel. I was there on a half board basis.
The food was excellent every night with a lot of different varieties.
The restaurant staff were friendly, but on only spoke very basic English. The bar was great, the bar staff spoke good English (there was a couple of hotties who worked there)!!!
The hotel rooms were nice and very clean, the cleaners cleaned the room every other day!
The location is good with a 10 minute walk to the lovely beaches and a 5 minute walk to all those great shops!
The entertainment is fab, especially for the kids they have a kids disco every night and bingo and they have a different show every night for adults and kids!
The facilities in the hotel were great they have pool tables and arcade games, mini golf, an indoor and an outdoor pool, gym, hot tub, everything was great!!!
I would definitely return there (in fact I am right now surfing the internet looking to book my holiday for next year in the Golden Port Salou) I can't wait!!!
I strongly recommend this hotel for all ages!!!

The meals were always good with a variety of foods at dinner. There was also champaign at breakfast. The hotel was near beaches, shops and resturants.
The waiters and waitresses were quite friendly but didnt speak a great deal of English. The entertainment was good with a disco for the kids, a game of bingo and a show.
The swimming pool was a good size and so was the indoor one. All in all this was good hotel suitable for all ages, couples, elderly and families.

| said: We were swapped to this hotel as our original choice was closing early (end of season). We were concerned it may not be as good as our first choice but were pleasently surprised, we e-mailed the hotel for a pool view and got a large double room overlooking the pool which was great.
The maids cleaned every day and the rest of the hotel was always kept very clean and tidy. The entertainment was ok and our kids loved the kids club girls (hugs to Helen and Sara)the hotel entertainer(Israel)was brilliant and was my three yr olds best mate ever!!
The pool and area around it was average and always clean. The only poor points would be the food,Some days it was excellent. Others we ate out due to poor choice and poor cooking.
We also felt our rep could have been slightly more helpful as we booked a jeep safari after being told it's ok for families which even though it was worth going on is very hard going for young kids (goat tracks up mountains at 40mph in a landrover)these landrovers have seat belts that dont work and you sit in the back sideways on what seems to be a sliver of sponge.
Port Aventura is a must, nearby and good value if you buy tickets here in the Uk (Keith Prowse tickets).
The beach is a short walk and area around the hotel is fine and we found it clean but typical spanish paving etc Would go to the hotel again definately the resort

| said: We stayed in this Hotel for 1 week.
Food was very good.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first three days in the hotel until several parties of School children arrived for a football event. They were out until the early hours making lots of noise and causing damage outside, seemingly without supervision and then returned to the room next door and continued their shouting and banging there. We witnessed other unsupervised children drinking beer on the second floor one night which I did not wish my 11 year-old son to see.
Whilst I cannot place any blame on the hotel staff for this, I feel people should be made aware that this could happen to them.
This was my only gripe, apart from this we had a great time.

| said: Just got back from a week at this hotel - and it was excellent!!
The main reception was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly.
The room was a bit on the small side but was adequate for the amount of time you spend in it and the balcony was quite large
The food was wonderful - not the place to be if you are on a diet - only complaint was it a bit noisy at meal times!!
The bar was fantastic - drinks 2 for 1 at happy hour every night and even at normal prices was cheaper than most bars - the entertainment was a bit ropey - bingo every night - but the hotel entertainer was mad and good for a laugh to watch

| said: General hotel areas very clean but our room was not as clean as it might have been and we had to ask for the hand towels on four days running we just had not been left any only the bath towels The hotel food was plentiful and reaonably varied and of a good standard but the bread was always dry and it lacked any choice for childrens items i.e. chicken nuggets fish fingers etc which quite a few children were asking for (including my grandaughter) and bearing in mind that the hotel is classed as a 'Kidzone Hotel' I found it strange that it lacked kids food
The location of the hotel was not in a very well kept area the pavements were lethal especially after dark as there were large potholes and very uneven walking surfaces and it was dirty (dog dirt and litter) and very dusty as some stretches of the pavement were not even tarmaced just dusty tracks
The hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them and generally they were all very friendly and pleasant
The entertainment was not up to much but there appeared to be plenty going on for most of the day it just depends on the individual persons taste
The Thomson kids club was very good and my grandaughter enjoyed it
I do not think that we will return to this hotel

| said: The Golden Port Salou hotel is one of the best hotels in salou. The Staff are very friendly and helpful, it is always kept spotless clean and the facilities are excellent.
The hotel is located at the back of Salou but only a few minutes walk to the main area and all on the flat so it is ideal for the disabled.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds and a little paddling pool for the babies.
The drinks are reasonably priced and there is a happy hour between 8/9 each day where you get two for one on all drinks.
The entertainment at the hotel is not great but they do try and there is plenty in Salou to keep you occupied anyway.
There is a good choice of food each day and themed nights several times a week.
The rooms are cean, tidy and maid service daily ensures you get anything you desire.
We have been going to this hotel for 7 years now and can't wait to go back again this year.

| said: I got back from Salou yesterday and am pleased to say that this hotel was a pleasant surprise as we did not know where we would be staying. The hotel is mainly for families as has loads on for the kids. We didn't have any kids with us so we got quite bored on the night at the hotel. Luckily it is only a 2 minute walk around the corner until you are in the middle of bars, restaurants and clubs. We didn't spend one day around the pool as there was not much space, the pool is very small and the are loads of kids running about. Luckily the beach (which is fantastic and clean)is litterally across the road, I am not to keen on the sea but it was so clear and clean I decided to swim in it to cool off.
The only bad thing I can say about the hotel is its bar staff, they could be very rude and "moody". I was drinking white wine and lemonade but not for long once I noticed how little wine was being used and it wasn't as if it was cheap!
If you are with a family you will love it, if you are looking for a great location then you will love it, if you are looking for friendly staff...I'd look somewhere else!
Port Ventura is a must so is jet skiing, and the water parks.

| said: We have just got back from two weeks at the golden port Salou park, the hotel was what I expected as I had read all the fab comments about it and this web site has been my saviour. The hotel is a three plus star and the public rooms are of a high standard and the hotel had A/C all the way through so this was a pleasure as Salou was mega hot even at night. I emailed the hotel to request a pool view and surprised that my request was fulfilled and they even gave us a double room! the rooms a tad on the small side but ample for getting your head down, the entertainment team, bar staff and restaurant staff are so friendly and made our stay even better, the food is quite good breakfasts fab, with cereals, fruit, cooked breakfasts etc, Dinner were fine but the only thing is they like to put meat in everthing and I I don't eat it, sometimes this was a pain but I had soup, a huge salad, vegetables and Potaoes. There are also themed nights too. Happy hour at the bar is a must as drinks on the main strip (carles Bugius )are rather expensive same and more expensive as back home. The hotel is perfectly positioned as the hotels in the centre will not get any sleep, being a 5-10 min walk from here some nights you could still hear the crowds. The swimming pool is claened everyday and the grounds of the pool and the best is that the doors to the pool don't open till 9 so we used to set our clock for 8.55 get in the q and join the charge of the light brigade! don't let this put you off as the pool area gets full there is a lovely sun terrace just above the pool where you can get away from the rest of the world and their wife.
A trip to Barcelona is a must and we did it on our own, it was a long day and we were out the hotel for 14 hours but it was worth it, visit Sagrada familila,( unfinished cathedral) gaudi's park ,Nou camp walk around the port and La Ramblas( Barc's main Street) and visit the museum L'erotica for a laugh and disbelievement.
Salou is far nicer than I exepected and such a busy place the promande is gorgeous with fountains and benches etc and this leads down the old town which has retained its tradition and has posh shops, cafes and restaurants rather than bars and the small port.this is where the station is located, the two beaches are fab but get packed from 9 in the morning and both of are equal distance from the hotel playa cappallens is a cove and more idealic setting
Would reccomned this hotel and resort to both couples familes and groups of friends did,nt want to leave and I cried.

The food is delightful and every Friday you have a gala dinner.
Kids are welcomed as there are things going on for them all day.
If you don’t fancying stopping in the hotel for happy hour go around the corner to Forges bar where there is cheap food (it's by hotel Calypso]
Port Adventura is a must even if you don’t like rides. There are different shows on throughout the day. The pavement right outside is a bit uneven, apart from that Salou is the place to visit.

As we walked into the hotel our first impressions were great it looked very clean. When we got 2 our room we opened the door and our room was great, lovely and spaceous. Me as a teenege girl im quite fussy with entertainment and food. The food really suited me it was great with a selection of everything to suit all the family. The staff at all ares of the hotel were lovely and helpful. Eventhough they didn't know much english they tried and they got along with everyone. The entertainers were lovely and so were the waiters and waitresses. The pool was lovely. The outdoor pool does get cold at times but the indoor one is always warm. There is entertainment on throughout the whole day here. I will certainly be retuning here.

It was very clean and the cleaners were polite and nothing was too much bother for them. The hotel food was fabulous with a huge selection to choose from whatever your taste or religion etc., A short walk from the centre of Salou but just far enough away from the noise so that you could sleep at night. The hotel has just started the Kidzone there and are building this up my daughter who is 8 this year loved it and they had mini discos which my 2 year old really enjoyed. Entertainment is varied and on the whole very good. Cannot wait to visit this place again.
