| said: Hotel is excellent. Staff fantastic right through from waiters to entertainment team. Rooms a little small but very clean and comfortable (no tea making facilities though - not sure if this is normal for these hotels - take a kettle as you can't hire one!). Pool areas are supberb - spotlessly clean. Location is good for buses/taxis from front of hotel to nice beach access at rear. Entertainment mixed - 5 out of 7 nights good which is a pretty good return for a Spanish/German marketed hotel. Plenty of nightlife closeby though and a short 30min walk to Salou (need taxi back though!). Hotel can be a bit noisy in the mornings but if you are getting up for breakfast it doesn't matter! Food was varied each night and always something reasonable to eat!! All in all very good.

The food wasn't up to much but the waiters in the hotel were lovely!!!! One night they took me n my mate (both 17) round the local bars. It was such a laugh!! They were so sweet!!
The hotel was spotless as well. the only thing is that its about a 25 minute walk to Salou centre - not such a good idea at 4 in the morning!!! But a taxis only bout 9 euros!!
The pubs in Cambrills are very good as well!!! Try the Tavern or the queens for a family night out!!!

| said: My husband and myself stayed in the Maritm princess in September and have to say it is one of our best holidays.
The reps were fantastic, nothingwas to much trouble, the rep had other people shouting at her one morning in reception, but she did not look annoyed, or uninterested she just took what they said to her and very calmy (when she could get a word in ) explained the situation to them.
I do not understand how she could be so calm but she always had a smile on her face. We found her to be very informative and knowledgable on the resort area.
She had a lovely accent too, as many other guests commented on after the welcome meeting. She is training the young lad well too. She has the patience of a saint.
The food in the hotel was of a good standard although there wasn't much in the way of meal accompniants, ie potatoes. The hotel room was very small but that did not bother us, there was only us.
I look forward to returning next year and hope my rep next year is on a par with our reps this year.

| said: Before departing for my holiday I had read mostly good reviews about this hotel apart from most stating lack of choice in food. I have to totally disagree with this as I have never been presented with so much choice of food in my life, my plate was piled high each and every night.
I found the hotel to be absolutely immaculate and the staff were brilliant, always playing with my 3 year old son during breakfast and evening meal.
The view from our room was amazing, overlooking both the pool and the sea.
The entertainment was brilliant with party songs for the kids, only on two nights was I disappointed when they had a old time dancing duo on. The location of the hotel was perfect, right next to the beach and only about 200 yards to Salou beach which is beautiful.
This hotel certainly puts British hotels to shame (but no surprise there). All in all this was a fantastic hotel and I would definitely go back in the future.

| said: We booked this hotel as a late booking we would normally go 4 star but we thought a 3 star plus hotel that was part of a chain would be ok.
On arrival at the hotel we found the staff to be quite unfriendly, the hotel was also very smokey when we first went in with lots of people in the lobby. Who insisted on telling you about their own misfortune such as getting stuck in the lifts or having their passports stolen, which is quite annoying when you've just walked into the place.
We eventually got our key to our room, we had requested a low floor (as we have a 2 year old) and also a quiet room!!!! We were put in the 1st floor right outside the lifts at the top of the stairwell which was right above the games area of the hotel so we had a constant thud of air hockey until the early hours, plus people talking on the stairs & luggage being wheeled past. Luckily we were only there for 1 week. The room was ok although the bathroom had an unpleasant smell which never went away, the tv was a constant volume as you had to rent a remote control!!
We were there on a half board basis (something which we had never done and probably won't do again). We had to queue for breakfast, then had to queue for the toaster then again for the juice machine & coffee machine then for the food, so most of it was cold by the time we got to eat it. The variety was good though & plenty of choice. I did put a couple of pieces of fruit in my bag once only to be told off by the manager!!! Whoops!! The evening meals were hit & miss 1 night was especially good, we had mexican tortillas another night my husband returned with chips & broccoli. He had been put off by the fish the night before as it had made him ill. If you don't like fish or are vegetarian then you will struggle.
The location of the hotel is sold as cambrils but in reality it is much closer to salou, we didn't venture into Salou but we did go into Cambrils everyday which was beautiful although it was an hours walk along the promenade it was a lovely walk, the buses were quite regular though & did stop directly outside the hotel and ran 24 hours.
All in all although we did have a good holiday we didn't spend much time in the hotel but would definately never return.

The big drawback was the day of departure when we had to depart the room at 10.00 hrs and the luggage facility was not good, no possibility of keeping room on, but I would return.

| said: When we arrived at the hotel,we found that the reception staff where snotty and when they gave us the card for the door, they didnt have no one to show us to our room,we had to find it ourselves.
Our room was basic but clean, with a safe in our room which we hired and we thought was brilliant for security reasons.
There was a camp bed for my little sister that was broke and uncomfortable but was no big deal.
When we explored the hotel and area,we discovered that alot of the guests were foreign and did not cater much for the English.
We didnt think much of the food as it was all foreign food and the chips were always hard and cold.
In the welcome meeting, the women rep spoke too fast and just advertised her day trips and didnt give any general information about the area. When we wanted to go some where eg Bonavista market, she would say she didnt know where it was unless we booked it with them.
The pool area was tidy and nice, and on the whole we really enjoyed the holiday and would definitely come back.

| said: Upon arrival I got jittery about the location. Right on the main road and not particularly eye catching. However, the reception area was clean & tidy but smokey.
The receptionists I have to say did not appear very welcoming so buy now I am getting worried. 10 minutes later we are outside of our designated room waiting for the maid to finish making up the room.
We get in 20 minutes later and immediately notice the smoke from the previous occupants. But, the room was tidy and clean. We unpack and have a look around the hotel, ground, pool and things are looking better.
I calm down and try to relax. For two weeks I am almost successful as we all have a really good time and not even 4 days of stormy weather can stop this.
The bad points are few but worth mentioning. The gym, you have to pay €4 for a half day pass and they say it's closed after 2pm. Take a look in after 2pm and you will see it's still open to the Spanish. The receptionists are quite rude in every sense. These points are small in comparison the my main gripe about this hotel/resort. It clearly caters for the Spanish market. They outnumber all foreigners by about 8 - 1. You will not find a more arrogant collection of toffee-nosed snobs if you tried. Not so much as a nod when you open a door for them, smile and you get a scowl. This must be unique to this resort as all my holidays in Spain (including all islands) have produced the most welcoming souls I have known. This for me was a very unusual experience which I have to say will not be repeated.

| said: Having just returned from this resort, it has to be said that it has something for everybody. The view from the room was fantastic looking through over the pool and the over the sea.
The rooms were very clean, and were cleaned on a daily basis, the spare beds which were camp beds of such were not that comfortable but no real issue.
The food was in adbundance, however there was a bit of a limitation to the kids menu. The staff were excellent, really helpfull and friendly. The kids were entertained however 4 times a day wit the mini- club which is a hotel run club for the kids and to be honest our kids loved it(6yrs & 8yrs). They mix with all nationalities, and are made to feel extremely welcome.
There is also entertainment for the adults as a well throughout the day, which was very entertaining as the hotel staff running all the activities were very friendly and also a good laugh.
Drinks from the hotel were slighlty expensive, evening entertainment was a little limited, but once again the kids were covered with a kids disco nearly every evening.
All in all a great base, with ample oppurunity to go off exploring or to chill by the pool, great hotel, freindly staff, limited food for the kids,

| said: Had a brilliant stay at this hotel. Rooms are basic but very clean with maid service every day, although the 4 bedded room we thought we were getting turned out to be a twin room with 2 camp beds (These are ok for children up to the age of 9 in my opinion). Once these were up there was no room for anything else in the room. However, we had a very spacious balcony overlooking the sea/pool but unfortunately our room door backed on to the main road at the front of the hotel which we found very noisy at night(especially weekends).
The hotel restaurant was excellent although the children's buffet was not really what I was expecting. Deep fried cauliflower was not what a 5 year old really wants on holiday! Nevertheless chips were a plenty and they could have pasta etc from the main buffet so not really a problem.
Staff were very friendly and obliging even when we asked for a glass of milk for the kids at meal times (not really supposed to sell milk).
The entertainment was aimed at adults with some nights including a parrot show and as our room was above the entertainment lounge we sat on our balcony and enjoyed it from there most of the time. There is also a games area near reception which is good but a game of pool will set you back 2 euros.
There is an excellent pool area and the hotel backs straight onto the lovely sandy beach/promenade. You can walk either to Salou (40 mins) or Cambrils (1 hour).
This hotel is nearer Salou than it is Cambrils. However, there are plenty of local buses going both ways, so not too much of a problem. You can also get a bus right outside the hotel to the Port Aventura theme park which we did at the cost of 5.60 euros for 2 Adults,2 children one way.
I would also advise you buy theme park tickets on the internet before you go cos you will save a lot of time queueing and it will be cheaper. We got 14 day pass for price of 3, excellent. You will also need id each time you visit.
All in all we would visit this hotel again it was very good value for money.

Woke the first moring to find ants in the room, reported it to recpetion and they laughed, obviously regularly. That said they did clean and remove the ants quickly.
Food was ok, if you like fish, lots of quantiy. Staff in hotel friendly particualrly to children.
Outdoor pool wasnt heated, has an indoor pool, but was only open for two hours in the morning when we visited. This wasnt published anywhere so be sure to ask.
To say hotel is beach front is streaching the imagination. It does back onto the sea, and the beach is within 20m each way, however its sea wall and rocks directly outside the hotel.

I along with my parents and 2 older brothers enjoyed it so much that we have been there every year since.
I think this hotel is for all ages whether you are 5 or 50. There are games all day long as well as a pool for everyone and the beach is just 2 metres from the hotel.
The dining room and bar areas are very clean and quite big with excellent service. Staff are friendly and very helpful particularly the reception members, plus many of the barmen are very handsome.
The hotel also has an indoor gym and pool which are quiet for a relaxing work out. Also the hotel has a range of nationalities staying there and everyone is very friendly.

| said: We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic holiday which was perfect for all the family which ranged from 5 years old to 70's. The hotel was incredibly nice, clean and friendly. All staff including reception, bar, maids, security and dining room staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely and well suited to all ages. There is plenty to do during the day such as sailing on the catermaran or spending a day at port aventura or going on a day trip to barcelona or just relaxing by the pool or on the beach. The hotels entertainment in the evening was very good and enjoyable for all ages and the daytime activities were also very good. The dinning room was huge and very attractive with a nice atmosphere and layout, there was plenty of food to choose from and the food was constantly replaced so there was no need to rush to grab it. The only criticism of the food is that some of it didnt have much flavour such as the bacon, sausage or desserts but there was such a wide variety that this really didnt matter. The hotel location was ideal - far enough from the airport to be away from the noise of planes but near enough to have a quick and comfortable journey from and to the airport. Being so near to the beach was great and being able to open the doors in the morning and hear the sea was lovely.
Buses were very convenient as they run from right outside the hotel and very frequently and both salou and cambrils are just a short bus journey along the road. All in all we had an absolutely brilliant holiday which we all thouroughly enjoyed. We had no real criticisms or problems and the only one we could really think of was that an extra pillow each would have been nice but we are sure we would have been given them if we had bothered to ask!
An excellent holiday and i would love to go back!

| said: Arrived home yesterday(07/08) from the Resort of Cambrils where we stayed at the Maratim Princess Hotel.
The cleanliness at the hotel was second to none with the rooms being cleaned on a daily basis. All other areas of the hotel were also impeccably clean including the reception area the huge dining room, the bar areas and the two outdoor pools.
The food at the hotel was o.k. but nothing to write home about. There was plenty of choice for breakfast - Croissants, Toast, Cereal, Bacon, Scrambled(Mushy) Egg, Beans, Fruit, Cooked Meats, Cheeses etc and the evening meal menu changed daily. We felt that the quality and taste of the food succumbed to the sheer volume that was produced to satisfy the needs of around 400+ guests eating at one time.
The location of the hotel was reasonable as it was directly on the beach (accessed through the rear of the hotel across small promenade). The streets in this area of Cambrils were not that clean as many of the area's dustbins were outside on the main road (heat+rubbish=smell). Bins were also emptied around midnight by large rubbish truck. Railway track was approx. 50 yards away on other side of street but there was a rail strike so only a few high speed trains passed each day.
The resort merged with the resort of Salou around 500 yards away from the hotel and you noticed that the closer you got to the centre of Salou the cleaner it got. It was around a 30-40 minute walk to the centre of Salou along the promenade with ample choice of bars, restaurants, ice-cream shops to stop in if you felt like a rest.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and professional apart from a couple that acted as if they didn't want to be there. Let's face it if you were in your 40's working as a waiter for a pittance in wages you wouldn't want to be there either!. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and always seemed to have a smile even though they always seemed rushed off their feet.
The staff at reception were very helpful and gave us tips on places to visit etc.
The entertainment at the hotel was very basic - disco, flamenco dancers, parrot shows, bingo etc. It was probably difficult to cater for all the different nationalities at the hotel - british, spanish, french, dutch, german, and russian all represented in fairly equal numbers. Bingo was quite entertaining listening to the announcer call out the numbers in around six different languages.
One thing we enjoyed doing in the evening was going out onto the promenade and seeing all the 'lookey-lookey' men selling fake t-shirts, sunglasses, hats, jewellery etc at for two or three times the price you would pay for the same fakes they sell in the local shops.

We did not know what to expect, but thankfully we were pleasantly suprised. The hotel was clean and we had a lovely view of the swimming pool and the sea from our balcony. The hotel is really clean, and you'll see the cleaners about almost all day either cleaning the rooms or the public facilities. The food was really good, though not alot of the local meals, we only had paella on the first night, but I think they try to cater more to the British, who always seem to insist on chips wherever they go. We were spoilt for choice with activities for the kids, as the hotel had stuff for the kids and Thomson had their own kiddies club, which was great. The staff were friendly especially the ones in the dinning room and they even tried to teach us some Spanish. The hotel has a main bar with nightly entertainment, and a piano bar if you'll rather chill out. All in all we'll definitely love to go again as there was something for everybody.

The hotel staff were, on the whole, unfriendly, apart from one waitress and one barman, neither of whom were Spanish!! The food was poor, unless you want a British menu of burgers and chips every night. We expected some local food, but not much was provided. And there was obviously a massive catch of tuna, because most of the salad served was covered with it!!

Recently returned home having spent two very enjoyable weeks at the Maritim with my wife and 2 teenage children. It is a lovely hotel right on the beach and is situated betwen Cambrills and Salou. Our family apartment - lounge and 2 bedrooms plus bathroom and balcony with sea view - was realy nice and clean ( the cleaners come daily) There is no fridge so we hired one for the fotnight. The TV has a couple of English language channells (Eurosport and BBC World). We found the staff to be friendly on the whole and the restaurant staff try hard to offer some variety to the normal buffet fare eg they have special dinners such as Italian evenings. There is a problem geting loungers to sit at the swimming pool unless you are prepared to join in the 9am scramble each morning. If you are not then the beach is very convenient and yoiu can hire loungers etc there.
Thwe hotel had nightly entertainment which varied from being ok to very good ( particularly enjoyed the flamenco dancers)
The area in which the hotel is located has the usual mix of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and gift shops. I would'nt say it is the prettiest of areas but you can get the bus into Cambrills town (or hire a bike) and this is a pretty place with an attractive harbour and acording to my wife some lovely shops. We traveled into Salou a couple of times and I would say that if you are looking for a brash and loud resort this might suit you.
The hotel is handy for the Theme park which we visited twice , the second time taking in the fine fireworks show which is on at midnight each evening. Also went to Aquapolis which our teenagers thought was excelent (dare you to try the kamakazi slide) - it also has a very entertaining dolphin show. We also did an organised trip into Barcelona with Thomsons - we had the afternoon and early evening to do our own thing (walk down the Ramblas and visted park guell by metro) and then taken by coach to see the water fountain display - magic !
All in al we had a great holiday and we would certainly recommend this hotel to families.

| said: I have just recently returned from the Hotel Maritim Princess in Costa Dorada and I found it very pleasant. It was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The food was in buffet style and they catered for every culture. The entertainment was varied, some nights were more upbeat and energizing, while others were more laid back. You're never stuck for entertainment in the evenings as there are two bars to chose from and an amusement/games room, or just a simple walk along the beach, something for everyone what ever your preference. The situation of the Hotel couldn't be more appealing, steps away from the beach and a quick bus ride or stroll to Salou or Cambrills. They have many activities and things to do in Cambrills like going on a glass floor Cruise or just relaxing in one of the local restaurants.
The Hotel also offers to all visitors an Internet section this is chargeable but very cheap. Just outside the Hotel is the local bus stop which is extremely convenient, but how you will have to wait is variable as it's a common fact that the Spanish are laid back and this reflects on how long you will have to wait. Also just around the corner is a Beauty Parlour, this is very nice as I visited it myself, it's very cheap and the staff are very friendly.
This was my first time in Spain and I enjoyed myself so much that I am already booking my next holiday in the same Hotel for this September. I most definitely recommend this hotel to both families and groups as there is something for everyone

We went out for a stroll in the evening and decided to stop for a drink at the Maritime - first impressions were good so we decided to come back and stay here the following year and were definitely not disappointed.
I can only agree with the comments from everyone else. My wife and I stayed in here in late Sept 02 with our 5 and 3 year olds. Location is great right on the beach. We used to enjoy having our evening meal and then take a stroll along the sea front to find a bar. If we were lucky the kids would fall asleep in the pushchairs! It's an easy walk into Salou which is pretty lively and an easy bus ride back if you don't fancy walking. The buses are easy and I would recommend a trip into Cambrils. We hired bikes and cycled there and back.
The kids really enjoyed the well run Thomson's kids club (it was our first family holiday where we have had one) and as much as we luv'em an hour a day to ourselves was great!
The food was good and the staff really friendly and helpful. We arrived late on the first day and tables had been laid with food especially for those arriving on the late flights.
We met a couple who had been coming to this hotel every year for years and I can see why.
We recommended the hotel to friends who went there this year and really enjoyed it. They went in July and I think they found it a bit busy around the pool (not a problem in late Sept). In any case with the beach literally on the doorstep who cares?
We went to Florida this year but will be heading back to the Maritime next.

I stayed at the Maritim Princess in July with my partner and 10 year old daughter.
The hotel wasn't our first choice as we were booked into the El Paso, but as they hadn't actually finished building it the Maritim looked the best option of the alternative accommodation offered.
I'm so glad we choose this hotel as our holiday there was fantastic.
The hotel was spotless. The choice of food was very good, and although chicken and chips featured every night in the children's buffet the children were welcome to eat the adult choices. The restaurant staff were excellent and very friendly. The only complaint I'd have would be the toasters. They were useless. But with a choice of full english, continental, yoghurts and fruit for breakfast we managed without toast for the two weeks.
The hotel is in an excellent location, with Salou and Cambrills a short bus ride away. The beach was just across a small footpath. And all the bars were within walking distance. The entertainment was very Spanish and French but as it was mainly visual you could follow the action without understanding the verbal commentary.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely visit this hotel again

| said: The Maritim Princess is an excellent family hotel. We first stayed here in 2000 and were so happy with it we booked again for 2002. We were there during the World Cup and there were plenty of nationalities staying there. It was an excellent atmosphere. The rooms are very clean with maid service almost everyday. The kids loved the food in the restuarant with plenty of variety. The staff on reception can speak good English and the restuarant staff were superb. No one can fault the location of the hotel as its right on the beach and within easy walking distance of Salou centre but if you prefer to stay around the hotel, there is entertainment every night to suit all ages. We've booked again for this year and can't wait!
