We stayed at the Nestor on half board. The food was fantastic on an evening there was loads of choice and a different theme each night ie italian, cyprian.
Our room looked over the beach and harbour which after listening to other guests is better than pool view as some heard noise from some of the bars on the main road.Theres no need to take hairdryer and they have 3 pin plugs. The cleaners came every day with clean towels. Oh and aircon is ace.
The hotel staff are the best ive seen they are so polite, funny esp George we got a kiss and a hug when we left.
We saw some of the entertainment and it seem ok.

everything about this hotel is great! pool is nice and warm, just like the staff. look out for george at the pool side bar he is fantastic! heard no noise from ayia napa despite the entral location. rent quad bike from hotel for 55 euro for 3 days, well worth going to cape greco on it. the yellow submarine trip is 10 euro adults and 5 euro for kids, it is the best out of all of the boat trips, i know i went on them all! cyprus itself is a little pricey, avoid seafront resturants as they are expensicve. theres always pizza hut, burger king etc.

we stayed in the nestor for 2 weeks bed and breakfast.
our room was brilliant and had an excellent view of the pool / sea.
the rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. we had 2 single beds and a fold down bed for our daughter.
the breakfasts were great, they had all your traditional meats, cheeses, ham, fruit, cakes, waffles, omlettes, beans etc. the omlettes and waffles were cooked to order and tasted lovely.

the pool area was great, loads of sunbeds and tables, really clean. it had a play area for the kids.

Bar service was really good and the food was lovely - look out for George, i think he's the bar manager, he will look after you and make you feel welcome.

entertainment was provided by a variety of acts from robbie williams to magic shows.

overall this hotel is an excellent choice in a brilliant location. we will definatley stay again.

The Nestor Hotel is fantastic, should definitely be a 4 star instead of a 3 star!

We only stayed B&B but the breakfast was nice, lots of choice - sausages, bacon, beans, scrambled egg, cereals, hams, cheeses etc along with juices, coffees and teas.
Around the hotel itself was kept very clean no messiness what so ever and cleaners did a very thorough job of our room every day, clean sheets and towels.

Location was great - about a seven minute walk into the centre, turn left out of the hotel past the Crown inn and take the path as a shortcut, far enough away from the noise of the pubs and clubs.

I thought staff were lovely. Reception staff friendly and spoke some english, man on late at night was funny, when we were waiting to come home at about 4 in the morning some people came in being a bit noisy and he made sure they kept quiet and even rang their room to tell them to be quiet, I thought was good as they make sure other guests staying there will not get woken up. Bar staff also very friendly, George was very nice and funny.

We were always out when the entertainment started however saw it one night and there was a singer and a belly dancer on which was quite good.

Water polo is on for about half an hour a day in the pool, games of pool, darts etc also organised. I thought pool was brilliant shallow at one end but sort of curves round and is 3 metres deep at the other end!

This was the best hotel I have stayed in and would recommend it to anyone and am hoping to return next year!

We stayed at the hotel nestor on a half board basis. The hotel itself was excellent,it was very clean and the maids were in everyday to clean the room and change the towels. The swimming pool was very large and there were plenty of sunbeds and brollies round the pool. The food was very good and there was always a big choice of dishes and a chef on hand to cut up the different meats. The breakfast was one of the best I have seen and you could get omelletes or waffles made while you wait. The staff in the hotel are very polite and the waiters in the bar always had a smile on there faces, especially George, who was always joking with the guests. The entertainment was alright but there were a few bars near which had a lot of tribute acts on(Robbie Williams,Elvis,Boy George, you have got to go and see him if you ever go as he is brilliant)We would definetly go back to this hotel again as it had everything you would want for a great holiday

Quick summary : Great hotel, BUT DO NOT go All Inclusive

Rooms:
Good sized rooms, although now showing there age. Unusual in that the rooms are carpeted, and not tiled as per the norm in Cyprus hotels. The hotel is still using the old fashioned mechanical door key, complete with a 1kg key ring !!!
A hair drier is provided in the room, along with a TV (would you believe that the remote is an optional extra ???) that receives (if not moan at reception), Sky News and Channel 5. Very little storage space is provided except for the large fitted wardrobe, and don’t expect to find many drawers for your clothes. The balcony is tiny, and with the two chairs and table supplied you have to climb over to seat two people.

Restaurant:
All meals are buffet style, and a fantastic choice is offered, with one of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve ever seen in Cyprus, even including “eggy bread”. The drink waiter will take your order for drinks, and the other staff deliver with a smile.

Pools:
The hotel has two pools, a small indoor pool, and a very pleasant large outdoor pool.

Reception:
As is the norm at the moment, the hotel reception staff are all from ex-ussr countries, but are very helpful though maybe lacking slightly in their understanding of the English language.

Location:
This was the main appeal for this hotel, being almost on the beach, yet only 100mtrs from Ayia Napa town centre.

Bars:
There are two bars, one by the pool, and one inside (more on the bar to follow):

Moans and Groans:
We made the big mistake of opting to go “All Inclusive”, and once reception had installed us with arm bands, we were from that moment on, “Lepers”. The bar staff ignore ANYONE baring a wrist band, as you wont be tipping! Should you manage to get the staff (5 bar staff and 30 customers, and they were panicing!!) to take your order, most of the time you will find them left on the bar!!! You can sit at the far end of the room and get ignored, then watch a non AI person sit at the table next to you, and two bar staff fight each other to serve them.
The AI option is the strangest configuration I have ever come across in all the hotels in Cyprus I have ever stayed at; the cocktail menu in on two pages, and you can only choose cocktails from the left hand page, WHY ? No it has nothing to do with the content (both pages have the same liquor contents, all locally produced) BUT if the cocktail has to be mixed in a mixer, YOU CAN’T HAVE IT……
You also cannot have a milkshake, for the same reasons, yet you can have Ice Cream with milk and liquor, hand mixed, but NOT without liquor and NOT mixed in a mixer. Ask for Coke or similar and it comes from the syrup type machine, that has been so turned down to make the taste awful, Non AI guests ordering Coke etc, get bottles or cans. The hotel has some even stranger ideas on what you can have and can’t, including Ice Cream only being available to children under 12yrs, so if you have a child of 13 and one of 12, one isn’t going to get Ice Cream!!!

If like us you booked with Thomsons, don’t expect to ever see the rep, you have to call him to make an appointment, as Thomsons do not have a on-site rep for the hotel (first choice, Thomas Cook & Olympic do). Just to add insult to injury, when we collected our keys, we got no information or welcome pack (not that we need or read them), and the next day we got a snotty note from the Thomson rep, asking why we didn’t attend his welcome meeting !!!!????, it might have helped if he told someone about it….

I don’t mind paying for a safe deposit box, and being on AI its nice to throw the wallet somewhere safe, however I was very startled to be charged £3cyp a day for a fridge (my wife has medicine that must be refrigerated), when all the hotels we have stayed at of the same star rating, include a fridge. Again no mention of the charge on Thompsons web site…

To sum up, a very nice and pleasant hotel, but DON’T go All Inclusive.

Hotel was very clean and fixtures and fittings very nice, the public areas are tiled including the corridors outside the lifts and then recert to carpet which looked in good condition.

Unusually the bedrooms were also carpeted and the soft furnishings were in good order. Bedrooms all had a balcony and we were pool facing which was lovely. There was a TV and a small fridge which can be unlocked and used for your own supplies at a charge. Lighting could have been better as it was quite a dark room with little adequate lighting available. Bathroom was small but functional and the shower very powerful and always hot water available. All in all the bedrooms were a good size and one of the largest I've encountered in Napa hotels.

The bar and public areas were very clean as was the enormous pool area (very big pool !) Bar did happy hour from 7.00 - 8.00 every evening where it was buy 1 cocktail get one free (be aware it has to be 2 of the same cocktails !)

Food was a buffet affair as is the norm in Cyprus hotels. We were on half board as we got an excellent deal compared to B&B only. Breakfast was okay and there was good choice of food including, continental type breakfasts, fried English, toast and cereals. Coffee & tea available via a machine and the coffee was excellent. Evening meal again buffet style but sadly the food left a lot to be desired, the meat all seemed to be of cheap, fatty cuts as was the mincemeat used in the lasagne and bolognese on "Italian" night (evenings were themed every night) Much of the food was overcooked and dry and not particularly hot. We only took out evening meal once and didn't return again due to this. We did get a voucher for a lunch due to our late arrival on the first evening which we used and the lunchtime salad bar was very nice but again the hot section was very poor. Not sure if it was due to the fact it was the end of the season but one of our biggest complaints was the fact that a good 10-15 minutes before service was due to end be it breakfast, lunch or dinner the staff started clearing everything away and you literally had to chase them around for supplies if you wanted something else. We couldn't even get another coffee in the morning despite it being 10 minutes before service finished as they disconnected the coffee machine ! Very poor.

Location wise the Nestor is perfect just far enough away from the hubbub of the main streets but perfect for the main beach and harbour area.

Staff......mmmm not sure if it was the time of year i.e. end of season and they were disgruntled but they all need to go on a customer relations course ! Dining room staff were without doubt the worst and all were surly and unwelcoming. Reception staff were very polite but not overly friendly except the night porter and the bar staff were indifferent and didn't attempt to get to know us during our stay despite us trying our best.

There was a singer on one evening and she was very good but we didn't see any others during our stay but I'm sure there's more during the height of the season.

I would visit the hotel again but only on a B&B basis regardless of any offers to do half board, their are too many good restaurants anyway in Napa to stay in the hotel every evening aside from the fact the food was of poor quality. Good pool area and nice rooms but best of all and the main reason I'd stay again was the location.

The Nestor Hotel is a very clean and friendly hotel. Our room was basic but very clean and we were lucky enough to have a pool overlooking the pool. The only complaint I have about the rooms is that the air con could be a little better at times.

Our board basis was bed and breakfast and the breakfast was buffet style and there was something for everyone, cereal, English breakfast, continental breakfast, toast etc. Couldn't ask for anymore really.

The location of the hotel is superb. 10 mins walk into the main nightlife in the square, 5 mins walk to shops, harbour and restaurants. There is a small beach which is a 5 minute walk away from the front of the hotel but its a small beach and you have to get there early to get on it! We paid £4 and went to the beach most days.

The only problem we had on this holiday was getting around the pool, there are plenty of sunbeds and the pool is very big but most people seemed to be up and around the pool by 9.00am!

I can't comment on the hotels entertainment as we went out every night, but they appeared to have some kind of entertainment most nights throughout the week we was there.

This is my fourth trip to Cyprus and I've loved it every time I've gone, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

The food was buffet style and was on a rota which was repeated weekly. There was usually a good choice however the buffet was in quite a small space compared to other hotels we have stayed in. The food catered for everyone except children. We have no children but there was only one night which was Italian night where there were Pizza's for the kids. Most nights in was meat in sauces, pasta, fish etc.

The location was great. A short walk to the beach and a short walk to the surrounding night life. If you want really lively then the square by the monastery is a little further to walk, but not a lot.

Staff in hotel were always pleasant and very helpful. Brochure said that it had been refurbished in 2003. It was lovely decorated downstairs however the bedroom that we had was a little on the small side, but was only for 2 weeks so we coped.

Did not stay in hotel for entertainment but it was advertised and seemed quite varied. All in all a great hotel with great food and a really good location.

We hit the jackpot on our first time to Cyprus.
