| said: sStayed in sa caleta playa apartments for 2 weeks the apartments were ok. kitchen is very small only a gas ring and a very small microwave not big enough to put a plate inside. the apartments are 3 storey high and yes we were on the top one witch has loads of steps, no good if you cant do steps and no good if you have small children. The entertainment at night was very loud went on till past midnight no good if you want your sleep you will not get it.
There are no shops close by and the supermarket on site is dear and they close down for the season on the 10th october.
You have to get a bus if you need any shops and if you smoke the only place that sells cigs in citadella witch is a bus ride.
The hotel food is not so good the hotel staff are very nice. You hardly get to see the reps, would i go there again sure i would not. full of mossies so be warned they love to bite you and jelly fish in the sea.
Beware when coming home that your flight is not delayed ours was for 4 hours and so was a few more.

| said: on our 1st day there we unpacked our clothes and returned to the apartment a few hours later to find ants crawling in them in the wardrobe. We reported this again on 2 other occasions and was told we could not be moved by the reception even though our little girl was very upset. we basically lived out of our suitcases for the next 2 weeks due to the ants. the kitchen was extremely small and difficult to cook in. our apartment was flooded on one of the days when reported to reception we were told join the queue and they had no idea how long it would take. we ended up moping up the water ourselves.the towels and bedlinen were changed every 3 days but whilst we were there myself and my little girl had numerous bites on our bodies.i spent the last 4 to 5 days with flu symptoms and covered in angry bites.i have since returned home to be told the bites were bed bug bites.
We ate in the hotels restaurant the service was very slow, when the food arrived it was cold and had to be re-heated. lots of the surrounding tables which were empty outside had lots of ants all over them. we will definately not be returning to this hotel!!!!!

| said: Had a great time. Travelling with 3 children aged 3 years,4 years and 6 months. Perfect for this age group, right on the beach which was not too big which meant they had freedom to wonder around safely without getting lost. Hotel pools good with 3 pools for kids to choose from. The kids club was great too. Play park a bit dissappointing but a couple of play parks within walking distance with swings and chutes. Another beach within an easy walk for a 3 year old maybe 10 minutes at a 3 year olds speed. Also a couple of nice restaurants within an easy walk.
There is a massive supermarket a 15 minute walk away which makes self catering easy.
Entertainment was low key which meant you could sit on balcony while kids where sleeping without being blasted with entertainment.

| said: We stayed half board first week and then got money back for second week due to the half board menu choices being very limited and the braekfast rubbish.Second week we ate at the Ocean which is a top class restaurant all the food is delicious with a top service by the staff and a free swimming pool and bouncy castle. We also ate at Sa Nacra round the corner which was ok but not as nice as the Ocean.
The hotel was clean but we had a problem with ants in the kitchen which did get fumigated the day after we reported it.
The maids changed the towels 4 times and the sheets 3 in the 2 weeks we where there but I found all the maids very miserable and moody especially the housekeeper who marched up and down all the time glaring at guests and looking angry all the time.
The bar staff where great and we had a laugh with them all there was a long wait for food and drinks but there is a waiter service .The bar staff work from about 8.00 in the morning till about 12.30 at night and they are nice hardworking people.

| said: We Stayed Self Catering thankfully. Stayed for one week, Bedlinen changed once, Towels twice(very small Bath towels). Apartment pleasant enough with two Balconies, Kitchen very small, room for only one but had electric kettle, small micro wave, toaster two ringed hob. Air conditioning was at no extra charge so that was a bonus and you could use it during the day as well as night times.
The daytime entertainment included archery, shooting, water polo, and the two staff who did try to get everyone to join in were very popular with the kids. Cannot comment on the first choice nursery staff because we had one child to young and the other to old to be included in their itinerary
The complex has a nice layout, paddling pool. One large pool and one smaller pool also a water slide into a dip pool. The pools where all cleaned daily but there was no life guards in attendance. The restaurant/cafe bar was central but also catered for the entertainment during the evening so if you were late having a meal you had to endure the sometimes not so good entertainment. One night there was a spooky theme which included entrails being taken from a dead body and children from the audience being issued with plastic fangs emulating eating from the bones. One 10 year old was lead away with his fingers in his ears crying his eyes out. It all ended with a michael jackson thriller dance which consoled some of the children and adults for that matter. Got to say that was only one night though the rest of the time they had the kids up dancing, Mr & Mrs contests, parrot show etc.
Did not care for the food in the restaurant ate there the first night only the rest of the time we walked to the Ocean restaurant where the food was good and the kids could play on the bouncing castles, whilst we finished our meal in peace. The Service at the apartments for drinks took an age and you had to queue up for at least 10 mins (no waiter service). The chairs in the Bar restaurant area were all used during the day when people had on their swimming gear on so by the night time they were not always very clean when you went dressed in something nice. The communal toilets got really dirty during the day, I wouldn't use them.
Handy supermarket just outside the apartments which also baked fresh bread.
You had to be up very early to get a sunbed, and as usual people put their towels on them even though they didn't use them until lunch time. One couple next to us even had the cheek to save beds for friends who had come to visit them for the day from another resort.
All in all we had an ok week but I was pleased it was only a week, I wanted to like the place and maybe if we had come earlier in the season it would have been better, August was only chosen because of school holidays.
Staff in reception pleasant. Bar staff not so pleasant and slow. Cleaned my own rooms so cant comment on cleaners.

| said: Just got back yesterday and feel robbed for what i spent to go for a week(thank god i didnt go for 2).
the bar and resturant service is a joke an expensive joke at that, to get a coffee first thing in the morning when no one is around can take 15mins the evening service is worse we waited an hour to be just given a menu one nite, if it wasnt for my wife i would have lost my sense of humor and gone mad!my advice is if you have already booked(if you havnt dont) to in the day buy food and drink from the shop and in the evening eat in the ocean resturant at the top of the road very nice and spotless also cheaper by far!
The staff some of which when you order sangria say "ce" and an age later will come back with a shandy
seem to have no personality at all with exeption of Alberto the entertainer who is great
the kids reps are also good but the main reps (first choice) are only after your money and will lie to you about how fantastic some of the trips are to get your money. do your trips of your own back by taxi or the good bus service and save yourself a small fortune, also the rep trips will drop you of for 5 hours to see something that only takes 2 to see and is not funny when you have kids and there is nothing else to do at the location.
pool area is clean and nice exept you have to get up in the middle of the nite to get a sunbed and you end up packed round the pool like sardines.
The maid service is poor the one day they came to change the sheets at 9am the kids were still asleep and this caused much moaning and what i expect was swearing in spanish by the maid. and you only seem to get one toilet roll for a week!

The lady that cleaned our room was very friendly and did a good job.The service at the bar was very slow though and some of the bar staff could be more friendly. The pools were cleaned every morning and were beautiful. Had to get up between 6 and 7 to get beds but the beach just a few steps down was lovely and great for snorkeling which my husband and son did a lot. The entertainment was very good day and night, Alberto does a great job. The reps were very nice and (little) john was great very helpful especially when we got our dates mixed up for a trip and missed it, he rang the office and got us another trip instead which we really enjoyed (coast to coast).

| said: About a month before we arrived, we decided to upgrade to half board - MISTAKE, the service was painfully slow and the choice was limited especially on childrens meals. For breakfast it was coco pops, a muffin and one piece of cold toast - which got a bit repetative after 2 weeks.
The apartments were basic but liveable, although the maid service was few and far between, we had to ask for clean sheets and buy out own toilet roll.
The pool area was clean and great for the kids although sunbeds were gone by 6 am.
Entertainment was fantastic - Alberto and Lucy are brilliant during the day and night and offer some great entertainment - the kids love them.

| said: We stayed half board and the food was very limited. If you have children over 10 then go self catering as the meals will not be enough by a long way.
Hotel cleanliness was ok but the apartments were very poor, you'll end up doing it yourself.
Location was good easy access to the beach, approximately 50m from the hotel. The area is slowly building up but is very quiet, but also very relaxing.
First choice offered little to no help, and if the owner corrected a few of these problems it could be a nice hotel, although a member of our party had her baf stolen from by the pool in broad daylight, 4:00pm approx, so be carefull.

| said: We stayed in Sa Caleta Playa appartments for 2 weeks in July. It was very hot - temperature on some days reached 30 degrees so the air conditioning in the appartments was a blessing. I found the staff in this hotel to be exceptionally kind and attentive.
The highlight of our stay was the excellent evening entertainment. Alberto and his assistant Lucy put on some hilarious shows which had everyone in stitches.
A Word of Warning - Do not allow the First Choice Reps to entice you to book for any of their ridiciously overpriced excursions. Both the 'Anchors Away' and 'That Thursday Night' excursions were a complete rip-off.
Do enjoy your stay at the very pleasant Sa Caleta Playa appartments. Whatever you do, don't waste your hard earned money on any of the First Choice excursions. You have been warned..........!

| said: We have just returned from a 2 week stay, once we got over the shock of how quite the resort was,and the lack of shops,we really enjoyed ourselves, the rooms were pretty good apart from very small kitchen, our linen was only changed 3 times in 2 weeks but the maids were very good if we asked for sheets and towels, the swimming pools were great, with a water shoot that the kids loved, only problem was people getting up at 5 in the morning to put towels on the sun beds and going out all day and returning at 3 or four oclock to sunbathe, the food was over priced and apart from a frozen lasagne was ok,the drinks were very expensive though.ALBERTO well what can i say that man is wasted at the playa he is fantastic, funny talented, and boy does he work hard, from games all day to entertainment at night he is brilliant with out him the resort wouldnt be the place it is today, not forgetting the lovely lucy, who in time i think will be as good, the pair work together so well, with regular cheap bus services to the main town, and to some lovely beaches, and two water parks,we met some truly fantastic people there, and had a great laugh and a fantstic time,i would recommend to anyone with young children, although teenagers might find it a bit boring.

This was our third visit and will be our last, The service has definitely dropped off,A lot of the staff have left, and not been replaced with experienced ones.
Towel change not adequate, had to ask for toilet rolls, and was given one grudgingly,so bought our own.
Alberto and his partner were as usual excellent, He has to be the best entertainment manager in the whole of Menorca, A lot of the evening entertainment acts have been axed and all the more work for Alberto,he deserves all the medals that he gives out regularly to the winners of the various events.
The downside is the putting out of towels so early in the morning.

| said: This was a family holiday which was booked over a year ago. We where so looking forward to it.
All I can say is it was fantastic.
The children are aged 11, 6, 3 and 14 months all their first time abroad and they loved every minute of it.
I very much agree with other reviews in that Alberto and Lucy were fantastic. So much for the kids to do all day. We didn't put the kids in the kids club as we didn't want to or need to. They had so much fun round the pool and with Alberto and Lucy.
The food was ok at the appartments but yes it was very much chips with everything.
The Steak House which is a short walk away was lovely and a short bus journey into Cala en Bosc should be done as it is packed with places to eat.
This was our first family holiday in years and we have all come back planning our next one.
We meet a lovely family out there who we are staying in touch with. It was a generally nice family place.
So if your planning a family holiday with kids of all ages. It is a must.
We definatly plan to go back there.

The staff are extremely friendly and made us welcome again for a second time staying at these apartments
The restaurant was fantastic and the food was really nice and it was always quick being served.
Emillio and Juan are absolutley fabulous we enjoyed seeing them again and were made very welcome by them
Alberto was excellent as usual he never stopped making us laugh we don't know were he gets his energy from.
None of the staff had forgotten us from the previous year and they seemed as happy as we did when we returned.
We will deffinately be visiting again in future and we would certainly reccommend these apartments if your looking for a quieter get away.

| said: We have just returned after a two week stay. The apartments are ideally sited for a quiet holiday, but feel that First Choice should advise that 80% of the bars and restaurants within reasonable distance, are closed for the final two weeks of the season. Leaving 4 places to eat in total.
Food on site very basic with a slow service, staff friendly enough but not very helpfull, I got the impression that they were just waiting fot the place to close down. Alberto the entertainments man is friendly enough, but activities very erratic, even down to none on some days, also not enough variation. Some nights, he just played CD's for the last 2 hours or so. Although bar should close at 12.00, the last week it was mostly about 11.15 to 11.30. When the bar did close, we were told that we could not even sit at the outside tables after 12.00 as "it was Spanish Law", and all the outside lights were turned off anyway.
Hotel had the cheek to ask for 40 euros late checkout room, even though there were no new arrivals.

Early mornings to put your towels out (than you James)Change of linen and towels was not great, maids would turnup at 6pm when you are trying to get ready for the night out. Onlyu ate in the bar couple lunch times as the menu is very basic and the same every day. Entertainment ok some nights but very poor at ther times. The team were full of energy but the season was coming to an end and they were suffering with tiredness. The worst thing was lack of bar staff and it could take 20 minutes to get a drink.

Alberto and Iris were excellent they both have real good talents and so much energy always smiling don't know how they do it all day. Amillio and Juan and the rest of the bar staff were great very friendly could do with a few more staff on the night at the bar but they all do work very hard. My 5 year old went to the kids club and enjoyed it but my 7yr old prefered to play the games with iris and alberto. I would recomend these apartments to anyone we had a fantastic time and are definately goin back and we didn't have to get up to early we could get up at 7.30 and still get a sunbed near the pool. An excellent place. We had our towels changed every other day. The beach was real nice the kids loved it so did my partner he went snorkling

| said: The complex was very nice although the apartments were very basic but clean. A bit updating would help improve such as new bath and kitchen units. We were located on the top floor (2 floors) as requested but were overlooking the entertainment area and this went on until quite late so we could not get to sleep in the living area due to the noise, especially on first night we were all tired and there was a karaoke night!! We ended up moving the roll out bed into the bedroom and pushed all the beds together and all four of us slept on these. It was a bit quieter in the bedroom. The air conditioning was a plus and this is the main reason we booked this apartment as not that many in menorca have air conditioning.
The pool and gardens were excellent and well kept. The beach was at the bottom of the garden. The usual towels were put on the beds early each day with not a soul in sight! It didnt bother us as we preferred the beach or went out sightseeing and used the pool from 5 ish when quieter.
The entertainment looked very good but we prefer to go out for meals. The kids were well catered for all day although again this was not used by us.
overall quite a nice complex for the price although with a few improvements in the apartments it would be excellent. Great for young families who like to stay around the hotel for entertainment.

| said: Just returned after spending two weeks in August. The rooms were basic but clean and linen was provided on a regular basis. Only ate in the restaurant on arriving the first night and the meal was average but to be fair we did arrive as the restaurant was closing.Reception staff and the attatched shop staff were pleasant and cheerful. The entertainment was good and Alberto was a star where he gets his energy from i dont know.On the down side, and if anyone from the hotel reads these sites please note. It is impossible to get a sun bed. Got up on the first day at 0800hrs and every bed had a towel on them but only about 5 people actually present. This put us off and we ended up on the beach or at the nearby Oceiana restaurant which had its own pool and a massive bouncy castle. These facilities were free if you bought a drink or food. the staff here were great and most days we had the pool to ourselves.
Finally hire some bar staff, service was slow and queues build up at the bar.

The location to the beach was the best ever. Just a few feet away. The staff were the best I have ever met. The entertainment was also the best. Alberto doesnt know his own talents. He could be making millions elsewhere. He has an abundance of energy that just cannot be found. I would go again just to watch him and Iris. Their Dirty Dancing was so good I almost cried. On a negative note, to get a sunbed is virtually impossible. You MUST put your towels out in the middle of the night. Thats what everyone else seems to do. Up at 6 a.m. and all the beds were gone. Not enough room for everyone.

| said: This was the third year running we had visited Menorca but the first time we stayed at this hotel.
The big plus point about the hotel for me was the fact that the rooms were air conditioned which meant that sleeping wasn't a problem as it had been on previous occasions!
The appartment was pretty standard otherwise with a twin bedroom and sofa plus pull out bed in the living room area. The small kitchen area had, among other things, kettle, toaster and fridge which was enough given that we ate out every night.
Surprised to see no TV in the rooms but didn't really miss it and would swap air conditioning for TV any day!
The hotel entertainment was mixed. There was an excellent flamenco dancing group one night but also the inevitable tedious balloon games and Hawaian contests.
We didn't eat at the hotel as we never saw any menus displayed though the bar area was fairly efficiently and courteously managed.
The pool area was lovely .... BUT adversely affected firstly by aggressive reserving of sunbeds by the larger family groups and secondly by local children coming to use the pools later on in the day (I note a correspondent had referred to this problem back in 2004!)
The staff were generally helpful and friendly, although apart from requesting a couple of extra pillows which were quickly supplied we didn't really need their help.

The apartment was not clean upon arrival, there were defects with the apartment doors not shutting properly, air con did not work properly saucepans rusting away. Faults were reported on leaving 2 weeks later nothing had changed.
Lots of bags of rubbish left lying around the complex every day.
We tried to book breakfasts fortunately this was refused as the lord nelson sestuarant has not improved. guests were refused there place in the restuarant on several occassions
We had to get the holiday rep involved to get our sheets changed.
There is a problem with the locals coming into the complex using the pool hotel staff were not interested and it was left to guests to eject them on a daily basis.
There was typical hotel entertainment every night and you either like it or you dont
first choice who are the only user of the hotel need to sort the place out as the hotel management do not have any interest

The room was always cleaned well, and the cleaners were really sweet ! and if they couldn't get in the would leave the towels and sheets outside our room.
The resteraunt/bar was lovely the food was nice, although we ate out most of the time.
The staff were soo nice and kind especially emillio and kiari aka ( rosie ).
The entertainment was really good, everyone enjoyed it.Also the entertainers alberto and iris were soo good and they were also really nice.
We especially enjoyed miss.menorca as one of the men we were with ( chris ) won it , it was so funny.
The pools were lovely and we had a lot of fun on the water slide !!!
The only problem we had was that there isn't enough sunbeds to accomadate for all the people.

| said: Th apartments are lovely. Not a big kitchen and the bathroom door sometimes locked on you.Our apartment looked over the entertainment so some nights we just watched it from the balcony. Sheets and towels were only changed twice a week which wasn't very good! The staff were mostly very nice but on the day we left I left my phone in the apartment and when I phoned it had not been handed in which was a bit disappointing.
Didn't really eat in the resturant as it was a bit overpriced and not a lot of choices. We tended to go to Sa Nacra which is lovely or into Cala n Bosch where there is more variety. We foudnd a lovely resturant called El Pato very reasonable and great variety. The bus was only 1 euro 35 cents and ran all the time.
My daughter went to the kids club and loved it. Lots to do and the reps Kiki and Loopy were fantastic. Rebecca never wanted to miss it. She especially loved a Saturday afternnon when you got to throw all the reps in the pool.
I would love to return to this hotel as its very safe for kids and Alberto, Loopy and Kiki Dee are great!!

| said: We topped up the holiday with half board.
The food on offer with the half board option was very basic and no menu was offered to be able to check out what we were ordering.
By the end of the week it had become a family joke that chips went with everything. When we chose food from the main menu we had to pay the full price with no allowance being made for the fact that we had already paid for half board.
The childrens menu was very boring and repetative with no option for any fresh vegatables. The only food on offer to the kids that was half way to being healthy was fruit.
The bed linen was not changed once during the week and the towels were only change once and then not enough towels were left for all of us.
The hotel is situated in a quiet area of sa caleta and is ideal for children. the gardens and grounds of the hotel were enclosed and that made it extra safe for the kids.
The gardens were very well kept and clean. the hotel staff were very good natured and spoke English very well but very very short staffed and this led to long queues for ice creams and drinks and sometimes it was a long wait to be served at meal times.
The kids clubs for the children ( aged about 3 to 8 years old) was very good but it seem limited for the older kids.
The evening entertainment was very good and the youngest and oldest guests seemed to enjoy it all.
Overall we had good holiday dispite the food being very limited, had we decided to stay for the two weeks I think we would have been eating elsewhere by the second week.

| said: Both me and my husband thought the apartment was really nice. There was plenty of room for us 3.
The bedrooms are nice. Ours had a double wardrobe and a high chest of drawers.
The kitchen was slightly on the small side but we didn't use it alot - as you do on holiday!
The dining/living area was nice and big and our balcony looked out over to the pool which was really nice.
The restaurant at the hotel (Lord Nelson) is nice, plenty of things to choose from and they are reasonably priced as well.
The only downfall with the restaurant/bar is it did take quite a while to get our drinks on a couple of occasions.
The location of the hotel is really good. The nearest beach is down a few steps - literally. This beach doesn't get busy either which is nice.
There are a few other beaches within a 15min walk and these are slightly bigger.
The hotel staff are really nice - they will do anything they can to help you and make you feel at home.
The entertainment was really good aswell. It is mainly for kids but we had a good laugh as well. Especially at the Hawaiian night - that was funny.
Everything that is said about Alberto & Iris is bang on, they are great with the kids.
We would definitely visit this hotel again. We didn't want to come home but who does????

| said: We have just returned from our weeks holiday at the Sa Caletta Playa Apartments.
This place is definately a family holiday, if you have kids then you will all love it, me and my husband did enjoy it but sometimes felt that we were outsiders as we didnt have any children!!
The apartments were very basic but clean, the kitchen was the size of a shoe box but we didn't eat in anyway, only downside lugging suitcases up 4 flights of stairs at the beginning and end of hols as we were on top floor!
The food was OK, the first day we were there I opted for a toasted ham and cheese sandwich which was disgusting the ham was like luncheon meat and the cheese was a processed cheese slice that wasnt melted and the bread wasnt really toasted so this put me off a bit but did have a pizza a few days later and this was delicious. We tended to only eat lunch there and went out in the evening found a really good steak house in Santandria just around the coast which was absolutely lovely!
The location is very quiet only a handfull of restaurants and bars but living in London all year round this came as a pleasant change. The resort is very picturesque especially as you walk around to Santandria with its little coves sandy beaches clear waters and boats dotted along the water, if you eat at the Bahia Restaurant above the sandy beach at Santandria you can sit overlooking the cove watching the sun go down a truly beautiful sight and the seabass is good here too. It would have been nice if there had been a few more things to do in the way of excursions as I was quite happy to sit around the pool reading a book but my husband would have became quite bored if it hadnt been for the day time activities at the hotel.
The first choice reps were also brilliant very friendly and outgoing nothing was too much trouble they looked like they were really enjoying themselves.
The hotel staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful especially Alberto and Emilio, I read the reviews before we went and was amazed by the amount of people that commented about Alberto and it is all true the man is amazing. He controls all the day time activities such as rifle shooting, archery even a big connect four competion and then he arranges all the evening entertainment form the kids disco to bingo even dressing up as spiderman so that all the kids could chase him around the complex. And as if he didnt have enough talents he also teaches you how to dance the merengae and the cha cha, on our last night he was on the stage teaching some of the older kids how to break/street dance boy can that man move. I would like to go back when we've got a young family of our own as it would be the perfect place.

Hotel was cleaned regularly and pools were cleaned daily. As I say only ate at the Hotel once, not a great experience for us but it did always seem to be full of diners !!
Our son was too old for the kids club but Alberto was great with some daytime activities and great fun in the evening for adult entertainment.
Sunbeds did get reserved by 9am with towels which the rep told people not to do,but by day 4 we found ourselves doing the same as it was the only way to sit by the pool.
Overall we liked our stay.

The entertainment staff are great, the food is not good and the prices are a joke far too much.
The only downside of things that spoilt it the most is that 1 member of staff the young girl was very rude. shes not helpfull at all. And she made everyone feel that they had to keep buying drinks she was nothing apart from a pest.
Holiday overall 5/10.

The food at the restaurant was great, well presented and a great waiter Emilo.
We found all the staff very friendly.
The kids club was great again lots of daily activities for the kids if they wanted to go to the club. Evening entertainment every night. Mini disco for the kids.
The apartments were very basic but clean. My only downfall about the holiday was the location of the apartments, Sa Caleta is very quiet, only couple of bars if you wanted to go out somewhere else at night. I would recommend hiring a car.

Alberto is just the greatest entertainer ever, he was always happy and made everyone laugh! oh yeah and he has the nicest hair ever, me and my friend Sammy would always play with it and he wouldn't mind!!!
The maids would always do a good job on cleaning our apartment and even though they didn't speak muck English, were very friendly and helpful.
Food was just great!!!
Emilio was just simply the best waiter ever, he would always make us laugh and always found time to talk to us, we love you Emilio!! As I said Alberto is great! He tries to get everyone involved in all daytime activities and the evening entertainment, I especially enjoy the flamenco show and the couples night- its funny! The entertainment is very very good!
The location is sufficient as Ciutadella isn't far and neither is Mahon, the capital, in Mahon they do some really nice shops including Mango, which I love!!! I also love the boat ride as well.
So overall it is great and i love all the staff that i have ever met there including Emilio, Lucas, Miguel, Sarah, nacho, Juan, Veronica and Luca that used to be an entertainer! Miss you guys but will see you in October 07!
By the way Emma, Corinne and family we will see you there if you are going back- that's if you remember us!!!
Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

| said: These apartments are the best we have ever stayed in.
The hotel is a typical Spanish building it is a peach colour and it is very inviting when we arrived and got off the coach our family just thought wow! We got checked in so fast it was unbelevable.
The rooms were spacious and nice and ours had a seaview and two balconies the only let down of the rooms are the very small kitchens but they had everything you needed except for a stove but all apartments have a welcoming feel to them. The bathroom was very spacious but a couple of times our bath and shower was not giving off any hot water and the bathroom door kept locking itself and would not open from the inside but except for that the beds are esceptionally comfy so there are not any faults.
Our room was cleaned every other day with new bed linen and new towels and the maids were very nice and trust worthy.
The hotel staff are the highlight of your holiday they always make you smile with their happy comments and their funny jokes I would like to make a special shout out for Alberto, Emilio and Juan as they are so friendly and remember your name throughout the whole of your stay.
There is so much entertainment going on in the hotel daytime and nighttime from archery, rifle shooting, javalot to karaoke and quiz nightsv not to mention the great shows like magic shows, flamenco, a couples game show and Mr & Mrs Menorca which Carol won.
My daughter Corinne spent her birthday at the apartments and everybody was so kind to her our rep bought her a present but also chucked her into the pool and when the evening came they played a birthday song for her and had her dance with Alberto on the stage then they bought her a cake out and a complimentary bottle of cava champagne which was very kind.
The pools in the hotel are great and are cleaned every morning and night the slide is a lot of fun for all ages even though it says it is just for adults.
The beach is a walk through the hotel gardens away and is one of the nicest beaches ever it has white sands and wave free blue waters be careful though there can be jellyfish especially after a storm.

Our family loved these apartments. They were not in the best area but they were enough to do and it wasn’t far to Cuitadella which is a big town in Menorca it was the old capital.
The hotel staff were fantastic especially Emilio and Alberto. The staff were 100% excellent.
I was also able to do lots of activities while I was there.
My family loved these apartments and we have booked to go again on October 15th of 2007 and we can’t wait till we go. We are taking someone else with us next year to see what they think of the apartments but I am sure she will like it.

There is non-stop entertainment by Alberto and delicious food from the lord nelson restaurant.
Our rep was called Andy but we gave him a nickname of Andy pandy all of the staff are very kind and well mannered they can also speak quite a bit of English.
This is a holiday for people wanting a quiet one as there is no clubs in the resort. There are two beaches near by which are sa caleta beach and cala santandria beach where there is clean white sands and crystal clear sea.
Overall my holiday was sensational and will definitely go back to the same apartments next year. As it was very fun for all of our family that went. Also if you get rooms 34 and 35 they are very nice and the beds are sooooo comfy. see you next year Emilio and Alberto

The staff were excellent and really friendly especially Emilio who was fantastic with the adults and children alike (we all loved him)he is so full of life we don't know where he gets his energy from. Alberto is great aswell and all the kids loved him. We all joined in with some of the daytime and night time activities and ended up winning loads of medals between us...
The entertainment is great for the kids but they could do with having something later on for the adults as everything was finished by 11.30 pm and if you stayed up till 12 you are on your own as everyone goes home. Alberto is a really good entertainer and is fun and very fair. He and Emilio work very long hours and seem to keep the hotel going.
The apartment was good basic but we don't cook on holiday so we didn't want a big kitchen. The towels are changed often enough and the maids seem nice.
The hotel has 3 pools and a slide and this seemed enough for us as we seemed to keep to 1 pool all the time, but I think they would get very crowded in peak season.
We ate at the Lord Nelson quite a few times and the food was nice but we had to book a table or we wouldn't have got one. We read reviews saying people had to wait ages for their food but we didnt feel this was the case at all. We went with friends and their son so there was always 8 of us and we had no problems there.
The location of the hotel is not very good though as there is nothing around. Only 1 chinese a steakhouse and 3 restaurants within about a 10 minute walk, and as this was the case the food was a lot dearer than a lot of other places

On the good side pools are great for kids that are clean and there's no fight to get your sun loungers as the beach is only 2 mins away and people coming and going all the time.
Our beds were changed once and our towels 3 times in one week.
There's a supermarket outside complex which is reasonable, there's a playpark which is ideal for kids and safe.
The entertainment here for all ages was brilliant day and night.

| said: We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment. It was small and basic but adequate for us as I wasn't going to spend much time in it.
We were given a rota saying when sheets and towels would be changed and the room cleaned. It was cleaned - once during the week we were there. Towels and sheets were changed - although as I was using the sofa bed I was left a pile of clean sheets to change myself.
The sun beds around the pool get "booked" very early with people leaving towels but not actually using the beds so be prepared to move towels!
We ate in the restaurant but I can't recommend it. It was very slow. Took just over an hour and a half from sitting down to the arrival of food which was luke warm and nothing special.
The hotel entertainment in the evening was in the style of Butlins - but there was plenty to watch or take part in if you wanted to. My children loved it! Noisy until midnight but no later. I doubt there are any rooms on the complet where you wouldn't hear the noise though.
There are always plenty of children hanging out in the grounds, playing football, or in the playpark so if your children want company they will like that. It can get pretty rowdy and some "games" get out of hand.
My childen went to the Bugs Bunny club which they enjoyed. It's held in a large wooden hut which is air conditioned. The First Choice kids club reps were very good but it was all a bit samey. They say it is split between ages 4-5 and 6-8 but in fact all the children do exactly the same things in the one building. Quite a difference in abilites between that age range!

The amount of things that go on is unbelievable, there is a fantastic entertainment program for the adults and the kids which gets everybody out of there sun loungers and gets everyone very competitive !
There are games such as Archery, Pistol Shooting, Rifle Shooting, Javalot, Table Tennis, Pool and much more...
The food in the Lord Nelson restaurant is amazing, me and my family alwasy manage to squeeze in some dinner or lunch from there.
Whenever we do go back, Alberto always remembers us and just makes us feel at home every year, it's no wonder we go back every year !!!

| said: Apartments
The apartments them self are just as you'd expect, nothing special but also not really bad (you get what you pay for!). Personally I don't want to spend too much time there, it's just somewhere to sleep and wash really.
During our stay the two light bulbs in our apartment went, this was mentioned but only one was eventually replaced.
One of the beds in the bedroom constantly had slats falling out of it if you moved in the night or sat on it, this was raised with the reception who simply said they couldn't provide another bed. Eventually cardboard was wedged into the frame to stop this.
The pools were cleaned every morning, but the main pool could really do with draining and repainting as large chunks of paint were coming off.
Sunlounger reserving goes on every day around the pool even though there are signs up about not doing it, as well as the reps mentioning not to do it at the welcome meeting. Personally I'm not bothered with moving towels of people who put their towels out very early in the morning and don't turn up until the afternoon.
The bar area is pretty well stocked with most drinks, although they did run out of San Migel at times and failed to change the barrel that night. The bar staff are really friendly but sooooooo slow, they could really do with employing a few more staff. I DON'T like waiting for 20 minutes at the bar just to get a drink at the best of times, yet alone on holiday!!
There are two bars (one upstairs and the other downstairs). The downstairs bar was open 09:00 - 00:00 and the upstairs bar strangely only open 00:00 - 01:00, I can't personally see the point in setting up a bar for an hour myself.
Cleanliness
As a whole the complex is cleaned daily by an army of cleaners. Strangely each change over day people were arriving and finding their rooms weren't ready forcing them to sit in the bar with all their bags.
On change over days (when you’re not leaving) the rooms weren't cleaned and towels and sheets went unchanged, at one point our room wasn't cleaned for 4 days!!
The tap in the bathroom was covered in limescale when we arrived and was still the same when we left. I expect it still is too. This was mentioned to the cleaner the first time we saw her and she just nodded and said yes! Bad luck anyone who stays in room 79.
Food
I can't understand all the rave reviews people have given the food in the restaurant in the hotel. I found it pretty poor really with the worst Paella I've ever had. The weekly BBQ was also poor (after all the good things I'd heard about it), once again the slooooow service really lets them down.
There are better restaurants to be found locally and in Cuitadella.
Location
The apartments are in a very quiet area with a couple of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance.
The beach which is down the steps from the hotel is really nice though, this was cleaned early every morning. It was also fairly good for snorkelling due to the clear water.
The local bus service is excellent and very affordable with new air conditioned buses, the drivers also speak better English than most of the drivers in England.
Staff
As previously mentioned the service in the bar/restaurant is very slow, but they are very friendly. They could just really do with taking on more staff.
The reception staff were very good and would help whenever they could.
The First Choice reps were also good, If I were a rep I'd love to have these apartments as Alberto runs the entertainment they don't need to. The kids club staff were friendly and looked after the kids very well. But does bugs bunny have to have his 12 euro birthday party every week?
Entertainment
The entertainment at the apartments was tip top couldn't complain about it at all. Alberto was excellent, I don't know where he got his energy from with all those late nights and early morning.
Would I visit again?
Probably not. The resort is a little too quiet for my liking, but it's great if you want somewhere quiet or a base to explore the rest of the island.

All the staff are very nice and talk very good English. The entertainers Alberto and Luca are brilliant at their jobs and very nice. Plenty to do during the day if you wanted to join in water polo, table tennis, pistol shooting, archery, darts, shuffleboard, rifle shooting and lots more.
Swimming pools lovely and clean. Kids club great so are staff. Would recommend this resort to anyone and we are going back next year.

| said: We've just returned from our second visit to Sa Caleta and we enjoyed it just us much. With two children 5 & 3 it was a great place to be.
The apartments were adequate for their category and although the location is quieter than most this to us was the attraction. No commercialism to distract from a relaxing beach/pool holiday. To be able to walk the 100m through the grounds to a charming safe beach was a bonus.
The clean and pleasant pool area offered great fun and variety for children and adults use. The entertainment from onsite Alberto and kids club reps was excellent. Plenty to do if you wanted it.
The kids club is airconditioned (cant imagine the reps tolerating it if it wasn't) our children went along a few times when it suited us and them, nothing was forced on anyone.
A second beach and choice of bars and restaurants is a pleasant 10min stroll which makes for a nice evening out or change of venue for the day.
I would recommend Sa Caleta as a lovely place for young families looking for a quiet traditional beach holiday. And if you hire a car you can find amazing unspoilt beaches within half hours drive.
Overall a great set-up for a two key/star rated resort.

The staff were great, service a bit slow.
The entertainment was good, Alberto was great, kept the chidren busy most of the day, and in the evenings too, don't know where he gets all his energy from, but he was a laugh.

| said: THE APARTMENTS
Clean and FAIRLY spacious, BUT….they say “sea view” rooms !!!! - there is ONLY ONE sea view room No. 26 I think - which is the top floor apartment at the far end of the block overlooking the swimming pool. You can JUST see the sea over the trees and make out the mountainous Majorca on the horizon. ALL other apartments DO NOT have sea view, so unless you’re the lucky one (of about 80 apartments) don’t bother asking for a sea view.
The one bedroom apartment we had was cleaned every other day as one cleaning day you get clean sheets then about 2 days later you get clean towels and it alternates like that.
The website (www.vmenorca.es) states you get a cooker…..YOU DON’T GET A COOKER. The kitchen (separate broom cupboard) consists of a 2 ring electric stove a small non rotating microwave a kettle (which boils in stages !!) and a 2 slice toaster. We ended up moving one of the beds into the living room as our 6 year old had the bedroom to herself and we had the living room. The sofa had a pull out bed underneath with fold out legs but I (yes my wife had the bed !!) found the sofa bed mattress uncomfortable.
THE COMPLEX
Consists of technically 5 pools, the main pool, with a side section, a small pool that incorporates the water slide (pah !!! - don’t get excited !!), a deeper small pool the entertainer uses for water polo matches, and the 30 cm deep kids paddling pool set away from the main pool area. Sun beds were GENERALLY in plentiful supply and also enough parasol’s.
The entertainment is CONSTANT through the day. The main/only entertainer is a chap called Alberto. Reckons he’s a spit of Denzil Washington !! He on the go ALL DAY and ALL EVENING !!! I take my hat off to him for his energy. He would arrange each weeks entertainment consisting of things like killer darts, archery, water polo matches, rifle shooting, karaoke, football, table tennis, boules, shuffleboard. Most took place in the lunchtime/mid afternoon slots (12 - 4 pm) then from 7 it’s a nightly kids mini disco (kids can dance to pop music on the stage by the swimming pool) then they have a free bouncy castle a couple of times a week and then 9pm they have “medal time” where he presents the winners medals from the days activities. At 10pm ish… its usually the main entertainment which may be a band, some flamenco dancers, a singer, dancers even a parrot show !!! After all that its just a bit of music before the evening ALWAYS finishes at 12am. If you’re an early to bed person there will probably be no apartments far enough away to be quiet enough.
It also doesn’t help if you get noisy neighbours at 1am like we did a couple of times. The kids play area is though a JOKE !! It was basically ONE climbing frame. I suspect there have been other equipment as looking at the apartments website some pictures have kids playing on a slide and there is a blank area in the play area where I think there WAS a slide but not now.
The kids club that First Choice run was (in my opinion) also a JOKE !! It was basically a large shed at the far end of the complex that had NO air conditioning and had the kids drawing etc….for the 3 hours its open each day.. Must have been an absolute sweat box for them.
The complex has an on-site supermarket about the size of your average small corner shop. It stocks most things inc water, alcohol, milk (English and Spanish) fruit and veg, food (inc baby food, crisps, snacks household goods, and also English newspapers - usually red tops and also the Mail and Express, though no serious papers). The newspapers were SOMETIMES there for 9am opening but also didn’t turn up until at least 11am. If you fancy a better choice, my suggestion would be to take an 8 min walk round the one way road where there is a “Betterbuy” supermarket (opposite the Prins Hotel) that had LOADS more choice and was cheaper.
The reception staff speak perfectly good English but I did try to speak Spanish to them - much to the embarrassment of my wife !!!
The complex also has a small arcade games room with couple of kung fu type games and also TWO internet PC’s that you can use for 1 Euro for every 10 mins.
The beach is EASILY accessible at the back of the complex through a small gate and down a very rutted rocky slope (no pushchairs here !!!). The beach seemed occupied mostly by residents but was open to anyone as there were other entrances to the beach. It felt like the complex’s own personal beach though !! The beach has a small hut that sells drinks and ice creams and the chap will come round when you get there to collect the 3 Euros for each sun bed and parasol you use.
The waiters are really friendly. Most speak English but again I tried the Spanish “lingo“. The menu was the usual pizza and chips, burger and chips, etc… but also had spag bol, lasagne, pork and chicken dishes and Paella. One night there is a BBQ (which you MUST reserve your table as it is REALLY busy that night). There are also pay phones to use (though there are also LOADS of pay phones away from the apartments.

The pools were lovely and clean although the large one a bit slippery as you entered. Not a problem as long as you were watching your kids!!!
Entertainment was just right, you were left alone if you did not want to be included but plenty to do day and night if you wanted to join in.
All the staff were fantastic and made the holiday enjoyable for us and particularly our little boy. Unfortunately he was too young for the kids club, which was really good according to all the kids and mums i spoke to.
The location was just right and what we expected from the b |
