Walking into the hotel in my jeans I felt distinctly underdressed - the reception foyer is decked out in marble with a huge sweeping staircase.

Check in was quick and easy, and our room was ready for us early.

The room was nice, two big windows, TV with satellite mini bar which was unfortunately out of service (but this may be a good thing!!).

Bathroom was lovely, large and clean with a huge bath with shower over it, and plenty of hot water.

I would definitely stay here again, especially at laterooms discounted rates.

Booked this hotel for a weekend in Edinburgh with a friend. Made booking with Late Rooms.com at a reduced rate of £80/night room only.

The hotel is located on North Bridge, within easy walking distance from Waverley station and Princes Street. We were able to check in early as our room was ready. The room was quite large with twin beds and was very well furnished and decorated as you'd expect from a 4* property.

There was a large wardrobe, drawer space, dressing table with large mirror above, a TV, trouser press, hair dryers, tea and coffee making facilities, coffee table and two armchairs. There was a mini bar, but this was out of service during our visit.

There were two double glazed windows and the room was extremely quiet considering it faced onto the main road. The hotel underwent an £11 million refurbishment in 2003 and the brochure states that all rooms are air conditioned, although we could find no evidence of this in our room.

The bathroom was bright with a frosted glass panel door and was quite large. It had a reasonable sized bath with shower above, a marble washstand with inset sink and toilet. The toiletries consisted of shower gel, shampoo and soap, but no shower cap.

Room service was available with a £4 service charge and there was a good selection to choose from.

Overall the hotel was very comfortable and in a good location, close to all attractions and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

I booked a party of 16 for a weekend break. The hotel was spotless.

I was the first of the party to be allocated my room and as I had booked the party into the hotel I had asked if I could be given a good room. The room was a tiny attic and one could not pass each other unless one got on to the bed.
I contacted reception and a member of staff came and showed me three different rooms to chose from.
They even transfered my luggage. Good result
