Booked this hotel for a weekend in Edinburgh with a friend. Made booking with
Late Rooms.com at a reduced rate of £80/night room only.
The hotel is located on North Bridge, within easy walking distance from Waverley station and Princes Street. We were able to check in early as our room was ready. The room was quite large with twin beds and was very well furnished and decorated as you'd expect from a 4* property.
There was a large wardrobe, drawer space, dressing table with large mirror above, a TV, trouser press, hair dryers, tea and coffee making facilities, coffee table and two armchairs. There was a mini bar, but this was out of service during our visit.
There were two double glazed windows and the room was extremely quiet considering it faced onto the main road. The hotel underwent an £11 million refurbishment in 2003 and the brochure states that all rooms are air conditioned, although we could find no evidence of this in our room.
The bathroom was bright with a frosted glass panel door and was quite large. It had a reasonable sized bath with shower above, a marble washstand with inset sink and toilet. The toiletries consisted of shower gel, shampoo and soap, but no shower cap.
Room service was available with a £4 service charge and there was a good selection to choose from.
Overall the hotel was very comfortable and in a good location, close to all attractions and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
