We have just returned from a 10 night holiday at the San Eloy and boy what a holiday!!! Food was great, entertainment was fantastic especially the Rocky Horror take off, Animation team went out of their way to include everybody even my shy 9 year old who by the end of the wek was renamed "SMILER". lovely people fantastic holiday rooms cleaned daily, no rush for a sunbed and such friendly people made for a eonderful time for all. We will no doubt return to the San Eloy without hesitation. highly recomended even if you only go once you will never forget. 10/10 5* holiday for a 2* price. Made great friends there too.

We stayed S/C at the San Eloy. It was fantastic. The review before says everything.
A bus runs hourly from the hotel to the town, its free if you are AI 1euro e/w if you are s/c. A footpath/road also leads into town about 25mins e/w a nice walk. The last bus runs back at 9.30pm so if you are later than 9.30pm you have to get a taxi or walk back via the footpath - make sure you take a torch, in the dark the walk is not for the faint hearted!
The supermarket within the hotel was very expensive and had limited goods if you are on s/c.
We used Perla Tours as our transfer bus, it was not good in getting us from the airport to the hotel. The journey should of taken 35mins but the coach went to every resort before arriving at Tossa! Also one family never got off at their hotel and we had to go back to it! Total transfer time 2hr 10min! On the way back to the airport they sent a taxi for us which did take 35mins.

Just got back from our week at San Eloy and just had to write about it. I always rely on these reviews so i thought i'd give something back for once.

On the day we (Myself, wife, kids: 15,11 and 9yrs old) arrived we got there 4 hrs before our all inclusive was due to start but they let us go straight to our room (for no extra charge) as it was ready. As lunch was being served they asked us if we'd like to start early and miss lunch on the last day instead, very nice of them, so we checked it out.

The resort is well laid out with the main pool close to the rooms and lots of grassy areas for sunbathing, there were loads of sunbeds so no need to get up at 7am to put towels out. Our room was fine, it was clean and spacious and nothing was missing or broken, we got fresh towels every day. The shower puts our one at home to shame, if you want to be pinned to the wall, feel free and whack it on full power.. and the hot water never ran out even after all 5 of of us had showered.. a big plus point as i was always last in. :-)

The entertainment team were excellent, they had plenty of activities during the day for kiddies and seperate ones for adults, nothing serious but good fun and made a break from laying in the sun. The same team also put on shows in the evenings which were always entertaining and every night they always asked people from the audience to come on stage for some light-hearted fun. The team really do make your holiday one to remember. During our stay they also had a few acts visit for a couple of hours, there was a reptile show and a parrot show which the kids loved. We never came away thinking we'd wasted a night..

The San Miguel flowed freely and i never waited more than 2 minutes to be served, obviously that may change in the peak of summer but as there is no need for cash it cuts the serving time down massively. Also, officially you're only supposed to get 2 drinks at a time but i never saw this, they'd serve you all the drinks you needed and always with a smile. The bar is also linked to the kitchens upstairs so if you're peckish at any time in the evening just ask for some chips, burgers or whatever and 2-3 mins later it arrives at the bar..and it was always freshly cooked.

Like others have said on here, the San Eloy is away from the main resort and as we had the kids with us clubbing and fun-pubs weren't important anyway. Definately a 100% family holiday destination. I've read a few reviews from people moaning about kids running around being noisy.. this is a holiday for kids and they are actively encouraged to run around and do stuff. If you're on a couples holiday or a stag/hen party this is not the holiday for you.

The restaurant was the thing we worried about the most but we needn't have been. Every mealtime was met by a different variety of foods, we never saw the same dish 2 days running. Even our fussiest boy was able to find something at every sitting. Every day there were different types of meats and fish all fresh and cooked perfectly ( we saw Salmon, Monkfish, Panga, cod, hake, fresh sardines, trout, veal, lamb, chicken, pork, steak, beef, quality sausages..etc etc) there were always pastas and fresh salads ( russian, spanish, english, carrot and pineapple salad was amazing) fresh french bread. And there was always a lighter option with different fruits being prepared. I didn't see anybody make a single complaint..not even that there wasn't enough as it was all eat as much as you like. The chef was always there too if you wanted to talk to him. There was always the choice of at least 5-6 puddings not including the kids unlimited free ice-creams that just helped themselves to.

During our stay we kept bumping into people who said it wasn't their first vist to San Eloy, many said they come every year.. that says it all i think. We'll be going back again too.

1-2-3 Adios

We stayed on all inclusive basis, and cannot complain about the food, always something to please. Linen, was not changed during our weeks stay and beds only made up once, towels changed every other day, though we did hear that guests that booked through thomsons got clean towels every day.

The towels where worn and a bit tattered, hotel staff friendly, and courtsey bus very useful, entertainment was ideal for families, though not to our taste.

Just returned from the San Eloy, the rooms are basic but you are never in them, only to sleep, there is so much going on in complex to keep you out in sun. The entertainment team were fantastic a big well done to Robyn and Kerri they worked non stop. The food was nice always something for everybody. The drinks arent limited on all inclusive as mentiones earlier, my two kids were always getting cold drinks. Rooms are cleaned everyday with clean towels allthough the towels are a bit dated there clean. Watch out for the grumpy waiter in the restaurant we moved the tables to make one big one he wasnt happy, never cleared our plates for the rest of the holiday. The pools were cleaned everyday. Tossa de Mar not much of a resort the bars are very small. Flys are a problem as you are in middle of forest.

We booked self catering but visited the dining room once. The food was bland and thankfully it was labelled.
The room was clean and the linen was changed frequently during our stay but the towels were old and stained. The 2 adult pools had black scum around the edges, which put us off using them.
The hotel is in an isolated spot, on the main road from Tossa to Llagostera. There is nothing within walking distance. Some rooms have bars against the windows which would help to keep the bedrooms more secure from intruders.
When we arrived the receptionist asked us to pay even though we had already paid. I suggest taking your receipt as proof of payment.
The entertainment staff worked very hard. Because of the layout of the hotel the noise from the pool and entertainment reverberates around the site and there is nowhere to escape to for any quiet time.
We booked this hotel because it was a cheaper option and we hired a car for the duration of our stay. The hotel was what we expected and to sum it up in 3 words: Butlins with Sunshine.

Arrived late at night/early morning & have to say first impressions were a bit iffy. This is really not a hotel it resembles a holiday camp more. That by the way is not a negative remark, the San Eloy is a great set up once you get into your first day.
By second day we really appreciated the layout.

The food was very good, as a chef of 36 years I know the difficulties in planning a menu for 5 nationalities over two weeks. I stuffed myself. My wife is big into fish and had at least 10 diferent types, including monk, salmon, trout, squid, octopus, cuttle, cod, panga, ling, perch mussels & more. At lunch time pudding is based more around fruit, not a bad idea. Dining room supervisor a bit of a tyrant.

Bar service is very good, real San Miguel & no restriction on amount you can get, this was brill, never experienced it before. Even bottled water was included, big ones for the room too. Under 18s have no chance of getting served, hope mummy & daddy give you some.

Snack bar as good as a snack bar can be.

Entertainment was really quite good. A good amount of outside stuff along with the entertainment staff's own got us laughing. Day time activities were often & fun.

Overall we loved the san Eloy, kids hardly left it & then only if bribed or forced. Nikka at her age loved it too so bigger teens are looked after too.

Tosa was not for us, small congested with a horrible shingle beach.

If only this property had air conditioning we would gladly return often, did get hot at night although appartments are all big and very nice.

This was our second visit to this hotel and again we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is self catering accomodation that is all inclusive. It suits us to a tee. The location is about two miles from the beach (not the town) in the middle of a pine forest. Transport to the town is by an hourly bus. The driver is GIZMO who originally hails Manchester and is so laid bsck he is almost horizontal. A font of knowledge for all the guests. He will go out of his way to assist you. One good guy !
Th food was good and plentiful. During the fortnight only Big Sam (Human food processing machine) complained on his fourth visit to the buffet.
The entertainment was fine. Very family orientated. The entertainment staff worked hard both and night and again it was directed to the families on site. As a group we had a ball. Found it to be a total chill holiday. Great fun, Met some great people and the service from the staff was outstanding.

Arrived here on 29th June for a 2week stay. Room was very big and clean (although we didn't get one of the newly renovated ones) Plenty of storage for clothes and storage though kitchen was very basic if you were self catering, we weren't, so it didn't matter but a kettle would have been nice.

The restaurant is typical of a self service hotel, food was plentiful and trays were refilled very quickly - always plenty of choices, all of my fussy children ate well!! Think I put on about a stone in weight LOL

Snacks were very good and service was reasonably quick, food always hot and tasty. The drinks were really BIG and they didn't stick to the "two drinks per customer rule" which was actually annoying at times when some greedy person in front of you was ordering 12drinks!!

The entertainment team work really hard and adults and children alike, had a really good time with certificates and medals on offer for all the winners - great!! Evening entertainment was a bit cheesy, but still very good fun, teenagers might get a bit bored though.

As mentioned before, there's a bus into Tossa every hour, always spot on time, but a taxi only cost us 7euros after midnight!!

The only thing I would point out is that this hotel is quite far away from town/clubs/pubs etc and probably not suitable if you want to go and live it up! Idea for families though and those who just want a relaxing break. There was always plenty of loungers and parasols, but I imagine you might struggle during the busier season.

All round excellent value for money, would definately go again!!

1 -2- 3 adios!!!

We booked 2 one bed roomed apartments and asked for them to be near to each other. San Eloy obliged and we had apartments next to each other.

As reported - cleanliness was of a high standard - I only wish I could get my home windows as clean!

We chose a place with entertainment and pools deliberately as we took our grandson. Normally we like somewhere smaller and quieter. However, we were impressed by the facilities, the variety of evening entertainment and the commitment of the staff to run sporting type competitions through the day. It was clear that the team had a young fan club.

We didn't use the restaurant as we like to use different restaurants through the holiday. The room had a decent fridge, a two ring electric hob - but no grill, toaster or kettle. However this suited us as we tend to start the day with cold meats or crispbreads and then eat at lunchtime near a beach.

Despite having a hire car, we used the bus on many occasions (1 euro for non- all-inclusive guests) and found it an excellent and prompt service. I had been concerned it might have been exclusively for the all-inclusive guests. The trip only took about 5 Min's into town.

My image of all inclusive has improved as I expected kids to be discarding half eaten burgers everywhere. I think that the fact the bar was a little distance from the pool area deterred kids from eating until they needed to. It was good to see that the guests were of many nationalities.

Note that each of the 3 floors has different types of rooms - so check the web site to work out which floor you will be on in case 2 flights of stairs are a concern - eg. you won't get a one-bed-roomed apartment on the ground floor.

The food was fantastic, something for everyone. The staff could not do enough, very friendly.

The resort was kept absolutely spotless at all times.

The hotel is set amongst the most beautiful green scenes - Tossa de Mar is an absolute must for a visit.

The entertainment staff worked solid all day & night!!!!! Danny (Phwoar), Amanda, Ivon, Martin & Javi did an excellent job, they put the icing on the cake of an absolute fab holiday:-)

The price of £1800 for a family of 5 seemed too good to be true when we booked this holiday 10 months prior to travelling. However, we were soon to learn that most people had paid less than half this amount... here's why:-

On arriving, my youngest child (5yrs) joked that the San Eloy looked like a prison. Steel bars on the windows and staff (guards) whose first words were "Don`t touch boy" when he tried to look at the `tip jar` on the bar.

THE ROOM

Our room was on the east side corner (the corner nearest Tossa). We were woken every morning at 7 o`clock by the delivery wagons and dust carts servicing the complex. If you happened to sleep through this, fear not, you would soon be woken by the maids pushing the laundry trolleys around, either on the ground floor (across bumpy paving slabs) or on balconies across broken/uneven floor tiles!!
The room itself was fairly spacious, although not spacious enough to fully open either of the bedroom doors without banging off a corner of a bed.

A maid came most days to throw a mop over the floor and empty the bin. Also, towels were changed daily but unfortunately the same could not be said about the bedding- my wife insisting that the sheets on our bed were never changed for the full 14 day visit!!

THE COMPLEX

Mini Golf was 2Euro per putter/ball. This would maybe be acceptable if it was maintained. However, there was broken pieces of concrete all over it, making it difficult/impossible to enjoy.

Pool Table (outside) was 1Euro with rips all over the cloth. Air Hockey was 1Euro for approx. 3 mins and no air blowing!!! Tennis was FREE!!.... but no netting around court so be prepared to run around the complex chasing the ball. Football was FREE.... but don`t run too fast because it`s a very slippery surface and I personally witnessed several accidents due to this.

Swimming Pool was cleaned daily, although it never seemed to be clean??? The children`s pool was approx 2m x 2.5m and ranged in depth from 6inches to 18inches. It had a smooth tiled finish and because of the sloping bottom it was fairly slippery.

Playpark was ok at first. However, we had heavy rainfall around day 7, and for the remainder of the holiday the area around the 2 slides was permanent mud.

Pool Table (BAR) A good table although at 2 Euro quite expensive with 3 kids.

ENTERTAINMENT

The Staff worked very hard (with an obvious limited budget)on the entertainment side. Very good with the kids.

HOTEL SAFETY

We had 3 Children with us aged 14, 12, & 5. The older children were no problem, but we could not relax with our 5 yr old due to the MANY trip/slip/fall hazards around every part of the complex. The main gate to the prison...oops complex.... was never closed. With a busy main road only feet away this was surprising to say the least.

ALL INCLUSIVE

Chips and Pork..... if you like these, you will love the food. We spent a lot of time (and money) eating out due to the limited choice.... we ended up on first name terms with the staff at the local Chinese in Tossa!!! Crockery was chipped and no restaurant coffee/tea/fruit juice after 10 am. However, it must be noted that the staff are very efficient at clearing away tables.

BUS SERVICE

Bus driver Gizmo was very friendly and helpful, with an excellent service in/out of town.

DEPARTURE DAY

The day of departure was strange. The bus to the airport was late by about 1 hour. This was not a problem as it gave all of us (about 30 checking out) time to talk about our various experiences over the past 7 or 14 days. Out of the 30, I`d say WELL OVER 20 people felt the same as us, vowing never to return. None of us were particularly bitter and kept our sense of humour about the holiday but we could all agree on 1 thing after visiting the San Eloy...... There`s no place like home!!!

SUMMING UP

I`ve read all reviews on the San Eloy. I`m not bitter and I`m pleased most people appeared to have enjoyed their holiday there. I feel that I am in the minority as far as opinions are concerned. However, this review is my honest opinion and I`ve tried to keep things light hearted.
I am an `average`, working class person, who saves up for 12 months every year to take the family on holiday.... and we certainly have no airs `n graces about us.

Personally, I think if you are the type of person who likes to get on stage and play party games with balloons, musical chairs, fancy dress etc., then you may well like the San Eloy. But seriously, if we were offered a FREE holiday at the San Eloy next year, we would not go.... I`ve served my time!!!

One More Thing....THE FLIES..if you`ve been, you`ll know!!!!!!

First impressions on arrival were greeted by friendly reception, although, we were not directed to our room properly we had to find them ourselves. Rooms were spacious although, no emergency exit available!!

Location was a bit out of the way but we were provided with a local bus driver who was extremley polite and friendly.

Staff were very polite and friendly. The service provided was of a high standard. The snack bar was not of high standrads, the same food was cooked daily!! Which got a bit boring towards the end!!

The entertainment for the children throughout th eday was great although the 'Mini Disco' was a bit teadious! We had teenage children and they did not benefit from the night enterainment as there was nothing for them only young children. The shows provided were good but only lasted an hour, which I feel could be more.

Also I would like to add that our holiday rep was of no use to us during our stay. She gave us false information about outside activities for the teenagers, which we followed and cost us quite a bit of money!

We would not consider going back to this hotel due to the location of the hotel and lack of entertainment for the teenagers.

We have just come back from the san eloy having booked it direct with Med Playa. For two weeks in August, hotel and flights for five of us worked out at around £500 per week - cheaper than renting a cottage in Devon! That's what we kept bearing in mind too when judging the quality of the food etc. I had read a few reports on this site prior to going and was a little apprehensive (wasps, terrible food etc) but was pleasantly surprised.

pros:

1. Staff are great, both entertainment and waiting staff. We have three children under six and everyone was incredidibly nice to them. The kids' entertainers in particualr were lovely and made a real effort to talk even though none of them had english as their first langauge.

2. For very young families, the on site entertainment was handy in the evening - we switched from self catering to all in in the last week ( 44E for all five of us per day!) as it was more relaxing for us watching the shows than trying to have a meal in tossa and look after the kids.

3. Tossa itself is very pretty - I came here about 25 years ago when I was a child and it doesn't seem to have changed a bit. The restaurants in the villa vella ( old town ) do a mean paella....

4. If you hire a car like we did, there are some great places to see which are easliy accessible such as Barcelona, the dali museum in figueres, cadaques, the old inland towns such as peratalleda and pals and so on. Its too lovely an area to spend the whole holiday roasting by the pool!

5. I didn't think the food was that bad - you were not forced to have fry ups every day. There was always an option such as mussels or paella, or poached fish. Pud was always fruit and custard type things but that is pretty much te norm for spain. Just don't go expecting english "beefeater" type food!

Cons:

1. The hotel is on a busy ish main road into tossa - if you have a room at the front like we did, you'll hear traffic from about 6am roaring by every day. You'll also hear all the people waiting for coach transfers shouting and smoking outside your room at all hours... By the way about 90% of the clientele smoked - this might be an issue if you had asthma or something...

2. If you have young children, ask for a room away from the main gate - its never locked and is about a ten foot run right on to the road. We asked to be moved as I had a horror of my one year old dashing off into the traffic.

3. Try to have an open mind about some of the other people at the complex - we normally go to the south of france where the mix of people is very different - but life would be boring if you only ever mixed with people identical to yourself! We also noticed a lot more english in the second week, possibly because the belgains had all gone home en masse due to school holidays... ( We drew the line at the 10 french kids in the apartment next to us who were throwing chairs at each other at 1 in the morning, especially when we saw they had a knife!).

4. People reserved sunloungers from about 7.30 am in the morning - you wouldn't get one if your left it until about 8.30. Ha! with three young kids, we always got one on the days we stayed there! What I found really irritating was people reserving tables in the entertainment area at night -mainly english I'm afraid to say. People put five or six tables together in a row - for heaven's sake its only a mini disco!

All in all, an OK holiday - the children want to go back next year. Who knows, if its cheap enough? We will probably go back to the area but stay in a villa though - we'd better practice that 1-2-3 adios!!!

We booked this at the last minute through Thomson’s online Hotel section and at only £225 all in for a family of 4 for a week, peak season, we though we had a bit of a bargain. Sadly how wrong we were.

On arrival we though we had arrived at a prison I kid you not. The stone walls surround the complex and every window has vertical steel bars. Ok were on holiday I put it down to the Architects sense of humour.

Parking is located directly off the main road or at the rear but make sure you leave plenty off room for the courtesy bus to turn or the driver won’t be happy.
Checking in was pretty straight forward we were given the obligatory wristband and after parting with 18Euro for the safe plus 10 Euro Deposit we were directed to our room.

The complex is a bit peculiar in so much that there aren’t any internal corridors. The ground floor rooms are accessed directly from the courtyard, the first floor from external stairs that lead to a narrow balcony that runs the length of each block and the top floor is accessed from a rather long steel staircase at each end of the blocks, which leads to a walkway to each of the apartments.

Our apartment was on the first floor. On entering you have the usual lounge area with kitchenette table chairs and a couple of sofas. The bathroom is internal, has no window or ventilation and the bath is very short. The enamel on our bath was worn, the toilet constantly hissed (probably the overflow). Due to the lack of ventilation the bathroom became a steam room after a couple of uses.

From the lounge a door leads to the bathroom. He is one of my biggest concerns with this place. Please whatever you do don’t close the door when you sleep. If there was a fire in the adjacent lounge when you are sleeping you have no way of getting out. As I mention before the windows have bars on the outside and therefore the escape route is blocked. There was a smoke/heat? Detector in the room but I couldn’t see any bells or sirens so be warned.

There are a number of pools the two main ones being surprisingly deep 3.5m max. The pools were cleaned daily but only the water. The black scum that had built up around the edges was disgusting.

There is also a tennis court, with no net to the sides so aim straight and a five a side/basketball pitch.

We were positioned on the east side block. At 7.30am we were woken daily by a delivery truck that parked right outside our room window. Nice.

So what do you get for your all-inclusive package? Well we all have different tastes and standards when it comes to food but I’d simply put it that we found the food to be totally disgusting. The order of the day seemed to be chips with everything battered everything the most gruel looking Bolognese sauce I’ve ever seen served every day, mashed up bits of meat and put in a sauce bruised and battered fruit and tired and wilted salads.

Breakfast was the same every day disgusting sausage’s greasy fried eggs, strips of fat pretending to be bacon and chips!!!! Yogurts that tasted more like angel delight. Thank goodness they has a toast machine and some make you own tea bags.
The fruit juice was awful to and to make matters worse you couldn’t get a drink from the bar until 10.30am

The hotel was very loud during the day, to be expected I guess given the time of year, However the foul language from the English teenagers was choice and I couldn’t believe how many were smoking some seemed as young as 11 or 12.

The bar staff were very pleasant but the San Miguel was very iffy. Although it was much better at the snack bar.

The snack bar offered, you guessed, chips and toasties that were in fact a bit of a saviour given the quality of the restaurant food.

The hotel is not far from the resort approx 1 ½ miles but it has no footpath along the roadside.

We had a car for the duration of our stay and thankfully that gave us the option of escaping (as we called it) from the complex and we found some very nice beaches in Malgrat and further up the coast.11.00am every day was our cue when we heard the hi-di-hi, “ding dong ding” from the tannoy. We ate in Tossa a lot and can recommend the Chinese buffet for value and choice.

Overall for the money we paid we can’t complain despite the fact we could have had a SC room in Tossa itself for £41 for the week. However if I’d paid what others had paid I’d be totally gutted.

Overall we found a mixed bag of opinions. There was a large amount of French, Dutch and Belgium’s and they didn’t seem to Drink or each much at the restaurant. Some obvious brits pilled their plates high and some shared our opinions so each to their own is what I say.

The quote of the holiday has to be a lady saying in the restaurant “Can I see the wine list”? – “We have white or red madam” about sums the place up really

This hotel is excellent for families with young children - the entertainment is superb with some brilliant shows for both the adults and children.

The choice of food for all meals is again excellent with lots of choice even for the kids.

There is a free bus service into the local town which makes up for the hotels location.

All the staff were brilliant especially with the kids. Maid service was everyday and cannot be faulted.

We will definately be revisiting this resort.

We enjoyed our stay at the San Eloy. As it was only a 2 star we were not expecting the Ritz but were pleasantly surprised with just how clean the hotel was.

Our room was spotless and we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We thought the food was okay , lots of choice and well cooked , not one of our party of 7 had any sign of a tummy upset.

The kids were delighted as they could help themselves to toasties if they didn’t like what was on offer, there was also lots of fruit and puddings so again they were more than happy.

The only thing we were a little disappointed with was the entertainment. It was the same mini disco, prize giving *set to the music from the film Rocky 4 - a break ,then at 10pm a show.

The shows were ok in all honesty especially the "different power show" as they called it my husband thought this was the best show of the week by a mile. The animation team do work extremely hard and hats off to them. There is a bar with internet access which seemed popular and also a pool table which was very popular with lads and dads.

The bar staff are very friendly and service is quite quick.

There is a free bus which runs into Tossa de mar every hour from 9am until 9.30pm apart from 2pm when he has an hour off. The bus driver gizmo is very friendly and chats to everyone. We visited villa Bella (the old castle on the beach ) it was beautiful and the views are stunning.

If you go into Tossa I recommend popping into holly's bar while you’re waiting for the bus to return to the hotel.

Good value and good food and the couple that run it are lovely.

We would definitely return to the hotel again but would take more in the way of entertainment such as children’s games , cards , music etc.

I got back from Hotel San Eloy on saturday and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

The hotel was very delicate and pretty. My hotel room lead straight to the pool and we had good access to all areas of the resort.

It is a very friendly family hotel with decent entertainment. The beer is also very good too!

Only downside to the hotel I think is the food. On occasions some of it was quite nice but overall its not very consistant and not very good.

I would like to go San Eloy again sometime in the future...

We vistited San Eloy for the first time and got back a few days ago. It is a brilliant hotel to stay in and the whole family had plenty of things to do throughout 2 stars !! I dont think so more like 4 stars!!

The food was nice but sometimes quite cold although they did change the food trays often.

The staff were polite and helpful and gizmo the free bus driver is wicked!

When we got there the room was spotless and was very spacious.

Overall it was a brilliant holiday and at the end I didn't want to go !!!

Hotel spotlessly clean with staff working long hours. Clean towels every day and apartment cleaned every day.

Food was very good though as with all inclusive not always quite as warm as it could have been. Plenty of choice though. Snacks (toasties, chips etc.) available all day.

Four minute bus journey into Tossa itself so the fact that San Eloy is quite isolated isn't a problem.

Entertainment team work very hard and unlike other All inclusives I've been to, the hotel bring in outside acts as well so a bit of variety. Kids disco every night becomes a bit boring but then I don't have small kids - it's great if you do.

I wouldn't make a point of coming back here but wouldn't turn it down if I was trying to get somewhere at the last minute (which is how I ended up here on this occasion). It certainly deserves more than the two and a half star rating it has.

My only complaint could be that there is no air conditioning and sleep was practically impossible. Also the wasps are around in their hundreds but that's not the hotel's fault !!

The Best holiday ever!!!! Just back after 2 weeks at San Eloy and had the time of our life. The hotel itself is 1.5 miles from Tossa town centre, but a shuttle bus runs on the hour free of charge from the hotel and back. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the hotel itself is spread out very well.

The food was great with a good choice at every mealtime. The drink was also very good. During day drinks are served in paper cups but at night we were receiving pint glasses of san miguel. Well impressed.

Entertainment was brilliant with games for adults seperate from the kiddies games. We thought we were on our second honeymoon as we never saw our 11yr old son until feeding time, as the five a side football pitch kept them occupied with his new friends all day.

The entertainment was great with a dufferent show everynight and the entertainers worked very hard to help everyone. The company was great with scots, english, irish, welsh etc mixing very well and had a great laugh.

We were only home a week when booked again for next year, so it must have been great as this is the first time I have done this before.

We stayed all inclusive, and found the food of excellent quality, the buffet was varied and well maintained. There was also always food available at the bar which had a good selection of drinks and always served with a smile!

The complex is situated about 1-1/2 miles from the centre of Tossa de Mar set amongst trees by the side of the main road. The Hotel free bus service was very good and ran every hour with a very friendly and helpfull driver.

All the staff were warm and friendly and always good humoured and enjoyed a laugh and a joke.

The entertainment team worked very hard and were kind and caring, being especially good with the children.
We enjoyed the evening entainment which was well presented and varied.

What a summer we had at this hotel the staff are fantatic from the domestic staff to managment.

The rooms are cleaned every day with clean white towels (whiter than white)the rooms are not hugh but they are equipt really well.

The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings the views are fab from any where in the hotel.

The pool area is great with plenty of sun beds so you dont have to be down at 6am with a towel. There are three pools which are kept clean at all times.

One problem is there is no life guard so if you have young kids you have to watch them.

Overall its a fab place.

The San Eloy is set is beautiful woods and hills approx 10 mins drive (30/45mins walk uphill) from Tossa de Mar.

The hotel shuttle bus runs every hour but the last one back from Tossa is at 9-30pm. It's about 6 euros by taxi. Lloret de Mar is a short inexpensive bus ride away.
There are several places that can easily visited by local bus - Waterworld, Marineland, Lloret etc.

Cleanliness in the hotel couldn't be faulted overall. However, the food was very hit and miss. Generally cold regardless of when we went for meals, there was usually a good variety of fish dishes (great if you like fish!), many of the meat dishes were very fatty. A good variety of salad was available at lunch and in the evening. The desserts menu was always much the same - mousse, a layer of the same thin sponge with different topping on, biscuits etc.

Restaurant staff clear and lay tables. On more than one occassion I left the table for some reason and came back to find my food had been taken! Waitng staff hovered to whip your plates away while you still had food in your mouth. Other guests complained of this also. The snack bar is very good - the food is always hot and tasty.

Bar staff, entertainments team, receptionists and everyone else were great. Helpful and keen to please. Entertainment was pretty good. A team of enthusiatic entertainers kept the guests happy with activities during the day and various shows in the evening - some of them amateur but hilarious! Audience participation played a major part.

I would recommend the hotel for families with children between 2 and 14/15. It's safe to leave them in the hands of the entertainers. My son is 18 and for much of the time he was bored! Playing pool at 2 euros a game, air hockey machines, table tennis, crazy golf etc all cost extra. TV's are in every room and in the bar but the channels are controlled by reception so don't be surprised if you lose what you're watching!

My mother was on holiday with us and doesn't walk too well sometimes. A lot of the rooms are up one or two flights of stairs. The supermarket, snack bar and restaurant are either up or downstairs.

It's also worth noting that the isn't a toilet on ground floor level unless you have one of the ground floor apartments.

I would go back to the San Eloy with my 13 year old daughter but don't consider it suitable for the elderly, those with walking disabilities or older teenagers.

San Eloy was clean and tidy with the maids visiting every day to clean and change bedsheets.

The food was excellent it had a superb choice and was always hot.We stayed for two weeks and never ate the same thing twice.

The location could have been better but with a free bus into tossa de mar you couldn't really complain.Gizmo, the bus driver was extremely helpful and anything you need to know just ask him.

The staff at San Eloy were brilliant, you couldn't ask for better. There were 2 children entertainers,1 teenage entertainer and 2 adult entertainers,so no-one could possibly moan about this hotel only being based around children.

As I said we stayed for two weeks and we never saw the same show twice!!There were also games for adults and children to join in with onstage and the shows still continued in the rain.

With regards to visiting this hotel again,I would have to give a definite yes as given it was a 2 star it was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.

So I say to you..................1,2,3, Adios!!!!

When booking this holiday I was petrified of being dissapointed mainly due to the cheap price and 2 star rating of the accomodation. But after reading some of the reviews on this site we decided to give it a go.

Me & my boyfriend are 19 and assumed that most of the entertainment would be child orientated - however there are 2 childrens reps, 1 for the teenagers and 2 for the adults and activities for all 3 age groups take place during the day between 11 and 5. Darts, Tennis, Football, Mini Golf, Waterpolo and even "football tennis" are some of the activities. Theres no pressure to take part but we found it a nice break from lazing by the pool.

Unlike some hotels Ive been to - when we idled down to the pool at 12pm there were still plenty of sunbeds and we even managed to grab an umbrella. The fact that there are two decent sized pools (and one baby pool) may be a reason for this as everyone seemed spaced out.

Im a fussy eater but there was always something I liked at lunch and dinner. There is a large selection of desserts which was a nice surprise. The snack bar which serves Chips, burgers, hotdogs, ham and cheese sandwhiches and toasties as well drinks is great. The staff worked extremely hard and the food was always hot and quick.

The rooms were surprisingly big but can get alittle hot as there is no air con - my boyfriend found the temperature fine but a couple of nights i slept on one of the large settees in our twin room with the balcony open - which to be honest wasnt any great hardship as there was plenty of space.

Be careful with the phone onsite - it charges you to use prepaid phonecards (despite the receptionist ensuring us otherwise)and whilst on the phone using a prepaid card worthn £5 we were charged 9Euros for a 3minute conversation. As you are presented with the bill by the receptionist wen you leave the booth, we had no idea we would be charged twice. The payphones in Tossa are much cheaper.

The bar if you are all-inclusive is fantastic, Pepsi, 7UP, Fanta and San Miguel are all the brands they serve - whilst the liquers and sprits are locally produced. A must is choclate milk + peppermint liquer + baileys its virtually liquidised After Eights....ask Sergio he'll make it for you :-)

The entertainment is hilarious once you are drunk :-) Mini disco for the kids followed by giving out the dipolmas for the days activities (win 5 and u get a medal) then Bingo (where Danny shakes his balls)and then at 10pm there is a show. We saw Mr & Miss San Eloy, Greese, You Bet, Musical Quiz, Flamenco Dancing and a Magician (who was shockingly bad) Normally this is put on by the reps but sometimes its a "proffessional" act - although we found the reps to be more entertaining. Finally there is a disco till 12:30. Basically the entertainment is entertaining because it is cheesy...dont expect anything fantastic - but to be honest we where never bored.

The place is basic and clean, the surroundings are beautiful, but the hotel is seriously made great by the staff. The reps are mostly from Holland and speak perfect English, German, Spanish and French, seriously made us feel stupid because even with our course brummy accents they understood every word. They always take the time to speak even after a looooooong shift and all the staff do major hours. The girl Anais who made my cheese toasty on a morning was the same one making me cocktails at 9pm but was still smiling.

There were all ages at the hotel and the vast majority of people had been before. We both had a fantastic time and wouldnt think twice about going back again.

Oh and the maids come every day to change towels and make the beds - but if your a late sleeper (like me) they usually do the rounds at 11 and may wake you up by dragging the furniture in another room grrrr....but that'll teach me for being lazy.

We had a fabulous time at the San Eloy.

The rooms were cleaned daily, the staff were all very cheerful and extremely hard working.

The food was always hot and always plenty of it. Plenty of variety too, there were a few dishes that kept popping up but they were mostly things like chicken nuggets for the kids, so not a problem there! My youngest is 6 and is a very fussy eater but there were plenty of dishes to keep even him happy! (that alone is a major accomplishment!!!)

The entertainment staff are absolutely unbelievable, I have never seen anyone with such relentless enthusiasm! They are on the go from 11 in the morning until after midnight and they are always happy and smiling. Some of the shows in the evening were a bit cheesey, but that was the fun thing about them to be honest!

The location was excellent, the brochure made it clear that it was 3km out of the town so no-one should be surprised about that. The free shuttle bus was excellent and Gizmo the driver was an absolute diamond, always helpful and always spot on with his tips and advice.

We have booked top go again in July and I can't wait. Only 4 months to go and we are already counting the days!!!
All that's left to be said is .......1,2,3 ADIOS!!!!

This is the second time we have been to these apartments and it seems to get better every time. Its ideal for families, there is always something for every one to do, adults and children alike.

Entertainment centres mainly around the children but as all parents know if your kids are happy then so are you.

All of the staff are helpful and friendly but full respect goes to the entertainment staff who work a long day which is solely dedicated to keeping the guests amused. The maid service is excellent, rooms are cleaned every day.

The food is plentiful and fresh but does become repetitive and a little more thought to menu planning would be a good idea there are sometimes some strange food combinations on offer.

The apartments are set just outside Tossa de Mar which is a short shuttle bus ride away, the bus is prompt and reliable. The beach is a short walk from the bus drop off point and Tossa is full of shops and bars if you fancy a change of scenery.

Overall we found the aparthotel San Eloy a fantastic value for money family holiday, many other families return year after year and we have not ruled out returning next year as we enjoy the relaxed friendly and safe environment this hotel offers.

The hotel rooms and surrounding areas were clean and in my opinion child friendly. I liked the fact that my 17 month old daughter was unable to toddle off into the larger pool due to a raised wall.

The bar staff and housekeeping staff were extremely friendly. The food was ok, by the end of the week it was a little repeatative but was always fresh and tasty. The only disappointing thing was there was no bottled water avaiable at breakfast time, you had to wait until the bar opened at 10.30. However, we learnt to get a bottle before the end of the evening and keep it in the fridge in the room!

Fantastic holiday, liked the fact it was out of the way! Bus driver very helpful and friendly as was the Thompson Rep - I would recommend this to anyone seeking a cheap all inclusive break.

We just got back from our holiday and had a great time. There is a lot to do at this location, especially if you have children.

The rooms are cleaned daily and we had plenty of room to relax. We have twin boys 18 months so we asked for two cots and bottom room floor and our accommadations were met. There is no elevator so if you have small children ask for a 1st floor room, or you'll be going up and down the stairs a lot. Check- out time is at noon, and if your flight leaves at 8pm or something you'll be asked to pay an additional 30 euros to keep the room til 6pm, so bring extra money to account for that.

There was a lot to choose from when it came to food. Seafood and different kinds of meat for lunch and dinner, English breakfast, chips at all meals. Or you could get food from the bar, they offered chips, toasted sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers. Bottled water for free, but you had to ask at the bar before midnight because after midnight even if your an all inclusive you have to pay, the bar is not free for you anymore after midnight.

The location, was nice, quiet, and relaxing. It's situated about three to five minutes from downtown Tossa de Mar. They have a shuttle that runs every hour on the hour except for siesta time. (1pm to 3pm). Gizmo the driver is great, he is very knowledgable of the area. We went into town a few times and walked to the beach and up to the castle.

The staff and the entertainment were great. Both were very nice and helpful. There is lots of games and stuff to do at the hotel. Bingo every night five euros for six game boards or 1 euro for one game board. We didn't win any money came close a few times but enjoyed it. There is also day excursions you can take from the hotel, to Barcelona, Lloret de Mar markets, an amusement park.

We went on the Barcelona day trip. It was great. It was about 30 euros per person, our children were free because they were under two years, but we saw were the Olympics were held, The sagrada familia, Guell park, hard rock. We did the markets on another day and had fun also, there is lots to buy there.

I recommend the excursions from the hotel if you have children with you, because you're picked up and dropped off and well accounted for throughout the day. If you decide to go it alone there is a bus station in town that will take you to a bigger bus station in another town where you get a ride to Barcelona and then they have underground like in London. We heard from people that tried that at the resort who got lost and only got to see a little bit. Other than that I would recommend this hotel highly for a great vacation.

We went almost at the end of October and had excellent weather up until the last day and then it rained the entire day until we left. The hotel was on a off season and wasn't packed so I think it was better. I still got a tan.

For value for money you could not fault the all inclusive deal. The hotel buildings are in a little need of some minor repairs on some of the exterior walls and pathways but inside the room it was excellent, spotlessly clean and everything worked. The food was extremely good for mass catering with plenty of choices and lots of it. The staff were all very friendly and considering the guys behind the bar were working none stop they still managed to mix us some custom cocktails and we never had to wait long either. The hotel is a bit out in the middle of nowhere but the free bus is very good. The entertainment staff really worked hard and I am shure the people who joined in really enjoyed themselves but its all very 'Holiday Camp' Hi-Di-Hi stuff. We went 'End of season' I don't think I would enjoy it in high season when the hotel was completely full.

This hotel is absolutly brilliant the food is good the snacks are on all day the staff are brilliant ( dennis, joseph and the rest of the bar staff), The rooms were cleaned daily the food had plenty of variety you could always find something you liked we were never hungry, the hotel is only about 3 mins bus ride from tossa de mar on the courtesy bus with gizmo who will always tell where to go if you need directions.

The entertainment team were brill we had a great time thanks to javi, lorena, suzanna, sandra and the rest of the team, we also had professional acts there was a magician a martial arts show which had to be seen, flamenco and of course all the entertainment the team put on kept us all busy day and night including darts, shuffleboard, french bowls, pool, waterpolo, football, tennis, skittles, basketball, and some sort of javelin game which was a laugh to play.

Then of course there's the kids reps nick & lou well they were great fun always kept the kids amused with games and the mini disco at night our kids loved the kids club they are also game for a laugh well they were when we threw them in the pool didn't mind at all.hope they are there again we hope to go back soon.

There is also bingo every night where you pay 1 euro for 1 ticket or 5 for six tickets and you can win good prize money we won 155 euros more if more play.
So all i can say is we would definetely go back every year if we could if you go you won't be dissapointed especially if you have kids.

Having visited this hotel during the Summer with three children all I can say is that it is great for them but not much for the adults here.

Maids could not be faulted for cleaning of the rooms, excellent - 5 star. Bar staff great and very friendly to us and to the children.

Restaurant staff were a bit miserable at times and I did not visit the restaurant for a meal during the second week at all - I lived on cheese and ham toasties from the bar for the second week!! However it was great for the two older children to get chips and ice cream whenever they wanted without bothering Mum or Dad.

Had some problems with teenagers above our accommodation who were allocated "accommodation on arrival" who repeatedly got drunk, got loud and spoilt the end of our holiday. However this was reported and dealt with well.

Swimming pools a let down. My eldest walked past the pool and was thrown in by a teenager fully clothed in the deep end (about 10ft deep!) and could not swim. No lifeguard was present.

Entertainment staff were great for the children in Kids Club and for adult games by day - all returned with certificates (or diplomas as they like to call them).

Good value for the price paid but off the beaten track, do not do the trip to Waterworld/Marineland. Rip off. Picked up by coach and then have to catch three buses on your own back - not great took 2 hours to get back with 3 children and a pushchair.

Miles from the beach and beach not safe to allow children to run amuck. Big drop all of a sudden dangerous for children.

I had a bit of a tummy upset but the rest of the family were OK - perhaps I had too much watered down alcohol. Didnt get drunk once and believe me I tried hard!!

If you are on a budget, this is not a bad holiday but could do with hiring a car to see a bit more of the surrounding area and two weeks is a bit long here - ready to come home after 7-10 days.

We booked our holiday to the San Eloy thinking we could use it as a cheap base to see the Costa Brava. Admittedly we usually book 4-5 star hotels but the reviews we read made it sound ok. How wrong we were.

The only positive things were:
The reception staff were friendly, the Thomson rep was very good and the bedrooms were large with 2 double beds although the legs were of the bed were wobbly and creaked all night long.

The hotel was absolutely awful. It was like staying in a camp! The pools were dirty, the scum around the edges was never removed. The balconies are walkways and are not private. The rooms are too near the pool and everyone can see inside!

If you pay the small supplement for a larger room you end up on the second floor and the floor above has a metal walkway over your room so all you hear all night are clomping of peoples shoes.

The food is terrible, powdered soup for example. The crockery is all chipped, the dining area cramped and rushed, the staff rude (unless your in the boozing crowd.)

The grassy areas had all turned to hard mud, there were cigarette butts everywhere. No one dresses up for a meal so dont bother to take nice clothes. Football shirts are the order of the day.

You are in the middle of nowhere but there is a good free bus in to town and the driver is friendly. We hired a car and after 5 nights paid to transfer to the Bahia De Tossa so that our holiday could be saved.

Do not go to this Hotel if you like a degree of quality, you will be dissapointed.

I have been to San Eloy 4 times now - the staff (from the top down) are all friendly and happy to help.

Giz the free bus driver is the man - what he doesn't know about the resort he will find out for you.

Entertainment in the evening is at best limited but the staff do try their best.

Overall you get what you pay for - if you want 5 star book a 5 star hotel.

Basically an excellent holiday. Myself and my partner went and enjoyed every minute of it. Excellent surroundings, brilliant entertainment with fun loving staff always making the effort. it was the first holiday myself and my boyfriend have been on. it was active although not so much that we didnt relax. the free shuttle bus to Tossa made it very easy to get around, and see the wonderful Tossa. the rooms were spaceous and cool. Overall an enjoyable holiday and I would definatley return next year!

The hotel is the same as last year clean and freindly with the excellent choice of food and drinks.

But there is always bad points at night the music can go on until 3am and often people are drunk and the poilce are called to take them away

but if you are looking for a restful break go to the san eloy

unfortunately there was little for the younger adults to do in the evening. This did not spoil our holiday as everything else was exellent!
There were good games throughout the day for everyone to join in with.
There was plenty of food to satisfy all kinds of appitites.
Over all our holiday was a one to remember!

What a great hotel, there is nothing I can find fault in. The hotel is rated 2 star!?! NEVER!!, its more like 4 star. The staff work so hard, from the managers to the cleaners, they are all busy working all day making our holiday wonderful. The entertainment staff are fantastic, keeping young and old alike entertained. There are games going on most of the day, join in if you want, and try to win a certificate. If you manage to get 5 certificates, you get a medal. Every evening there was entertainment for all the family, from mini disco(for the little ones), to cash bingo and live entertainment. Our room was cleaned and fresh towels were put out everyday, you don't get that at most 3 star hotels!!

The food was fantastic, such choice, eat as much or as little as you want it was all very good. The resteraunt and bar staff are really friendly and give great service and are really friendly. Gizmo, the free bus driver is such an asset to the hotel. He knows a lot about Tossa de Mar, and will go out of his way to help you if you have a problem, need directions or just want to know the best bars to go to.
I could carry on for hours about this hotel, what more can I say, but we arrived back on a Wednesday and booked for next year on the Saturday

We stayed at the San Eloy complex and booked last minute. There is everything you need to have a relaxing or eventful holiday. The resort it is clean, staff were great and the food was excellent. There is entertainment for every taste and bingo every night with some good prize money. Gizmo the free shuttle bus driver was great and informed us of events taking place and sites to see. I would recommend this as a family or couples holiday and would not hesitate to return.

A big party of about 30 of us went to San Eloy hotel in June/July last year on the recommendation of family that had been there before and were in the group travelling with us this time!

We had an absolutely fantastic time! The hotel, although quite basic was really clean. The pool was enormous and kept clean. The kids playground was excellent as was the entertainment, the kids had a fantastic time.

There was nightly entertainment, which was great, very well planned and thought out.

All I can say is that I lost 4 and a half stone before travelling to San Eloy and managed to put on 13lbs in two weeks - fab food and far too much to drink! It was a great two weeks, in fact I'm going back for another fortnight this year in July and I can't wait.

Although quite far away from the resort of Tossa there was an hourly free bus service which meant really you weren't too far away from anything.

I love the San Eloy and would recommend it to anyone!

The food was always hot and plentiful. The cleaning staff came in everyday to change the towels and tidy and make up the beds.

The hotel is in a very quiet area with lots of countryside around for nice quiet walks but plenty of water needed due to the heat.

None of the staff could be faulted and Gizmo the driver of the free bus to take us into town was really friendly and helpful. The entertainment was a good laugh and they really got the guests involved.

As far as family holidays go this was by far the best we have had. My two sons were hardly ever seen except by the entertainment staff. There are plenty of activities to do throughout the day, so they were never bored. The food was buffet style in the restaurant, and snacks are available throughout the day from 10.30a.m to midnight. Bingo was played most nights although at a small charge, there were cash prizes to be won. Definately going back!

This holiday was by far the best holiday we have had mainly because everyone was so friendly including bar staff and reps, the food couldnt be faulted as there was plenty to choose from,on a couple of evenings the evening entertainment was not brilliant but i would say that was my only complaint, we certainly made the most of the bar as it was open until 12 including the snack bar where you could get chips burgers ect. It was also quiet throughout the night not rowdy like you get in some hotels so plenty of sleep can be had by all? we would definately go back.

This hotel was absolutely excellent, hardly saw my seven year old twins, they were having too much of a good time. We all would defintley go again, kids were crying when we come away. The rooms are cleaned daily, the food is the restaurant is great even for the fussiest eater and of course the all day snacks available from the bar! The entertainment staff worked like trojans to keep everybody happy. Only one dodgy show (The Flamingos). The only downside we found was having a one year old who is walking everywhere there was no where safe for him to play perhaps the play area could be enclosed but that is not particulary a critism only something that would have made our holiday a bit easier!

Loved the hotel, the location is in the middle of nowhere but the free shuttlebus to town and beach takes bout 5mins, more than adequate. Staff in all departments were so friendly, really helpful and seem to try to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. The food!!! well what can i say, i am not a big eater but had to try everything (in small ammounts) so many meats and salads, absolute 1st class. Rooms suprised me, they are very large and kept clean everyday. Entertainment after dinner is really not my cup of tea, but they did absolute wonders everynight! i was very impressed, and the kids mini disco went down a storm with the lil ones! and some big ones too :) Tossa town is a delight, pretty little place with real narrow streets, and again the friendliest people you could imagine. Anyway i could go on and on but the end of the day we are going back to the San eloy again this year, looking forward to it, need more info? bald_dunk@yahoo.com
