| said: Travelled here in Oct 07 with two older couples. Originally apprehensive reading previous reviews however, location of hotel v. good two minutes from beach which is directly facing hotel(accross a road and through a tunnel). Rooms the most spacious we have ever stayed in with two singe beds, armchair which converts to sofa bed and a single pull out bed. Massive balcony overlooking the beach.
Food- not great and quality definately fell further into the holiday as it got closer to the end of season but there was always something you could eat. We did take the courtesy bus on a number of occasions to the other HTOP hotels which you could book meals in and the Royal Sun in Santa Susanna was by far the best. DO NOT GO to Santa Susanna Resort or Hotel Planamar as food horrible.
Entertainment-reps put on some v good shows and there were quiz nites etc- entertainment was what you make it and the reps very good with children.
All in all very happy at stay - would return to this hotel however, resort very quiet but the high speed train station is 5 minutes away bringing you right into Barcelona and courtesy bus very well organised.
Only issue - book Medieval night as soon as you arrive -we had been before and realloy enjoyed it but it was fully booked and we had to miss out on same.

| said: This was a last minute teletext booking, we arrived very late in the evening, but then last minute low price suppose you expect it.
The Hotel is clean & tidy, our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels.
The food was of a good standard with plenty of choice even for the fussy eaters (inc kids).
The staff on reception were brilliant we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel, asked reception on arrival at midnight if they could change us to front room, by 11am the next morning we received a message in our room that they could change us the next morning to sea-view at no extra cost.
The bar & restaurant staff however were something else, in Devon we call them miserable sods, hardly a smile, not warming in mannerism. (There to do a job so take it or leave it attitude).

| said: i have read a few reviews concerning this hotel and have never ever added my own. i have stayed in this hotel for the past two years and will be going again this july. just to point out firstly that we are not the type of family who drink hotels dry and are fairly fussy when it comes to cleanliness and standards of food. this hotel like many other htop's are far better in season than not, especially when we talk about the food aspect. out of season it can normally be limited in choice.
the last two summers i have visited the following have always remained the same
1. the whole hotel was absolutely spotless from arrival to departure.
2. the food was always varied and tasty.
3. the staff were smart, polite and friendly but only if you are with them.

The food was very good quality, plenty of it and always fresh. The drinks were available from 10am every day until 12midnight. Hardly any queing, the bar staff were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable.
The hotel is on the main promenade across the rail tracks then onto the beach. The roof top pool sold it for us, great views, not too busy, drink at the bar, parasols were a bit erratic.
Sauna and jacuzzi had to be booked 24 hours in advance, but well worth it.
Entertainment was good, some poor but some very good. Will be back next year.

Staff very pleasant, decorated beautifully.
The food however was a different matter, everything was cold food poisoning waiting to happen, still one can survive on soup & dessert for a while. It is a shame because it had only just opened after a refurb when we arrived, & you could see what it was going to turn into.
It was very loud at night fighting, drunks shouting in the corridors.
All inclusive, recipe for disaster why can't people handle the drink, I think the clients will ruin this hotel.
The location opposite the sea, very nice but a train line between the hotel & the sea, Pineda has nothing to offer, but it is quite close to Barcelona

| said: We stayed at the Pineda Palace hotel for 1 week. The was us, 2 children aged 13 & 4 and my parents, both in their 70's So quite a range of ages. We all thought the hotel to be very, very clean.
The towels were changed daily and the rooms cleaned. All staff we polite and friendly.
The food was good with a variety of dishes, something for everyone, although I did find by the end of the week it had become a bit repetitive, but the presentation and quantity was excellent.
The entertainment was good something on every night, for all ages.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again as would my parents, who said it was one of the best they have stayed in.
My only moan is that the noise from people going to there rooms was bad, and the seems to be no notices reminding people to be quite on their way to their room.

The location was excellent, right on the waterfront you could not ask for better.
It was a 20 minute walk to the begining of Callela and a further 35 minutes to the centre.
JPS black ciggies were 20 euros, golden virginia x 10 50g pkts 39 euros.
Market right outside the hotel every Friday.
Entertainment every night and you were able to smoke at the back of the bar/entertainment area which was great for all us smokers.
Would certainly visit this hotel again in the future and recommend it to you.

Everything seemed ok, very clean and our room was nice enough with a sea view.
The food seemed ok at first but after a couple of days we got sick of seeing the same bland dishes which always seemed to be just warm.
This hotel didn't have much going on for kids, not even a pool table and no indoor swimming pool.
The evening entertainment wasn't up to much so we always seemed to end up playing card games and making our own entertainment.

The HTOP group of hotels are among the best I have ever had the pleasure to spend my holiday there, so much so that we have booked to go to The Royal Star in Llorett in mar 06, this time we are taking our 3 daughters AI for 1 week.

| said: This Hotel has long since been refurbished. We could not fault the clenliness of the hotel it was first class. We had a room at the front of the Hotel with a sea view, the only fault to this is the train line in between the hotel and the beach but this is the same where ever you go on this coast with the hotels on the front.
The food was very good but a little short on the variety side. The staff were good and althiough it said at the bar only 2 drinks per customer ata time I never had any trouble getting drinks for the three of us. The only fault I have with the place is the entertainment on a night is poor but saying that I would go back because the Holiday company we went with does a good deal for the money.

| said: We were origanlly booked for another hotel but it was closing for the season so we got upgraded to the beautiful Pineda Palace.
Lovely entrance to the hotel with palm trees either side and very friendly reception staff to greet you.
You get your all inclusive bracelets straight away so you can go and have a very welcome drink whilst they sort your room out.
If you are patient and friendly with the bar staff, they will be very friendly with you. You can get 2 drinks each at a time but once they get to know you,you can get a few more. It always helps to show your appreciation with a tip.
The entertainment is done by differant people but is all more or less the same. Best bet is to get lively and start chatting to other people and make your own entertainment.
The hotel was always spotlessly clean and well tended by friendly maids.
Go up to the roof terrace where you will find a medium sized pool that has a jacuzzi at one end.
You will find plenty of sun lounges and a bar where you can drink the days away with beautiful views of the beach on one side and the mountains on the other.
The only bad point to the hotel is the food. It is very repetative and you get chips with everything for every meal including breakfast. We did not take kids but if you are, there is not much of a choice for them.
You will find that the snack bar is more appertising with sausages, burgers, more chips and plenty of rolls and bread.
Despite the food, I would still visit this hotel again.

| said: We where originally staying at the planama, but got changed because it was closing down.
First impression of this hotel was lovely, it was clean and tidy and the staff were nice and pleasant.
The entertainment was all right and they had a wide range of drinks available.
The food was not. If you like your typical r#English food then the snack bar was better than lunch and dinner, as it had sausages, burgers bacon and a variety of bread. Lunch and dinner on the other hand, was all meat cooked in fancy sauces, funny looking rice and fish.
The hotel and a pool on the roof with a Jacuzzi in two corners of it, loads of sun-loungers, a bar and a great view.
The rooms were always spotless after the cleaners had been in, air conditioning and a decent sized balcony.
We made friends with the kids club entertainer and a few of the bar staff.
We had no problems with this hotel on the beach, apart from the food, but had heard that it was a lot better in season.
Would recommend it to anyone.

| said: The hotel began with an unfair advantage as we had transferred from the hotel Planamar that was a hotel from hell.
At fist glance this hotel was paradise by comparison, the staff were OK with one or two exceptions. Some bar staff showed disrespect due to us being all inclusive and treated us like second class citizens. Obviously there were no tips with A1 customers as no money changed hands.
The pool was located on the roof and was very tiny, however, the views were beautiful looking over the sea with the mountains at the rear.
The 4 star rating was stretching it a bit with the gym so small no more than 2 people at a time could work out and only then only if you agreed to swap machines.
The food left a lot to be desired and was very repetitive.
We have stayed at 3 star hotels in the past that have far surpassed the quality of food here. The chips were nice but you even got those for breakfast.
I would not visit this hotel again however it was clean tidy and a Palace compared to the Planamar just a few k/m away.

| said: the hotel was very clean and the rooms on 1st glance were really nice. the hair dryer and the frigde gave this hotel the 4*'s, but the walls were paper thin and you could here every noise from the next room and humming from the pool on the roof. we had to be moved as the humming was really loud, but the new room was not much better as the noise from the people next door was loud as the walls so thin! the food was just terrible, there was not much english choice ( there was not much choice of anything ) there were chips for breakfast dinner and tea! the rest was things i have never seen, we did try a few but was not very nice. the hotel staff were nice , but one time when i had to go down to reception at 1.30 am to complain about next door that were making loads of noise ( it was full of teenages left on there own and this was the 2nd night of it) but i was told they were just children and nothing they could do! they said i should move rooms ( again ) which i flatly refused to do, luckly for us they moved out the next morning! The entertainment was not too bad i have seen worse but i have also seen better. the pool was on the roof ( i was not told of this and it does not state it in the brochure!) its 8 floors up, very small and as shallow as a paddleing pool! The location was the best thing as just over the road from the sea and 300 yards from a great hotel called taurus park that we used all the time for their pool and entertainment! I would not go there again and i certainly would not recommend it to anyone ( well maybe 50 year old spanish couples who should only go in december so then they can at least fit in the pool)!

| said: We checked in on the 31st of Decemeber on an all inclusive basis, staying untill the 4th of January. It was my first new year away, and was really looking forward to it.
The hotel is really nice, and its spotlessly clean. The hotel staff are really nice, the german girl on reception is lovely (and she still works there).
The rooms in the hotel are lovely, they are lovely and clean and decorated like a 4 star should be. Its worth paying the little bit extra to get those little touches, which I love.
The location is good, youve got a train station to the left which is literally 2 minutes away. As it was December its not exactly beach weather so there was no one on there, although I guess it would be lovely in summer. There are some shops close by, and there is also a market, which takes over the road right outside the hotel, but cant remember what day its on now, sorry.
As it was new years eve it was a set menu for that evening, we didnt know that you could of asked for something else to be cooked if you didnt like the set menu, but by then it was to late. The set menu was Crab soup to start, I didnt like it, then a whole Lobster cut in half, you actually got both halves. I'd never tried it before so I had a taste, I can honestly say I've tasted something so fishy in all my life. It tastes something like (if you can imagine) Campbells Condensed Fish Soup, with out watering it down, it was vile, and such a strong fish taste, so I didnt eat that either. Then you got some little beefy things on a plate, cant remember what the hell they where but I was that hungry and it wasnt fish, I ate them. And then you had some icecream for your dessert. The whole meal looked lovely and was presented well, even though I was starving, and didnt eat anything. The best part was the free flowing champagne, that was a nice touch I thought, and also gave the chance to have a liquid lunch instead. The whole evening was well planned and went off with a bang, celebrating both the spanish and engligh new years. The entertainment for that evening was brilliant.
When the hotel returned to normal, the food was good quality, but repeated its self and there just wasnt much choice. On new years eve the hotel was full, the day after almost everyone had checked out, so there wasnt many people left id say maybe 70 - 90 people.
The entertainment didnt actually exsist past new years eve so thats why it only gets a 1. There was no entertainment at all apart the usual music they play.
I have actually been back to this hotel, only because I was staying in Calella which is near by. so we popped in for lunch. It was still the same, still really clean and tidy, although the food still wasnt any better unfortunately, and so no I wouldnt go back.
The hotel its self is lovely as are the staff, but the food and the lack of entertainment let it down badly. If your not that fussy with your food and would rather make your own entertainment, then you'll be ok here.
