I arrived at 10pm to be told there was no room at the hotel and I would be moved to another down the road. My first thoughts were to give it a go but that soon turned into get me out of here!!! 2 days passed by untill the hotel moved us into our room which was basic but clean. The food is nothing special and the staff are very rude, the good thing about this hotel is the location which is just off the beach. Would I go again?? no chance

Me and my girlfriend had to wait 48 hours for a room and when we did get into the hotel we found it to be unclean around the pool the food was ALWAYS cold staff didnt want to know about any problems the entertainment was rubbish must of been cheap as chips and talking about chips they were always cold too!! Location is the best thing about this hotel.

Hotel was very clean and tidy, with the rooms being cleaned and made up every day. Clean bathroom towels were provided on a daily basis. We also noticed the pool and patio areas being cleaned every morning. There are two large pools and a small childrens pool for the toddlers which were all excellent.

As our first all inclusive holiday, we was unsure as to the quantity, quality and recurrence of the food that would be available. Any concerns were soon diminished, the food was very good with a great selection at each meal sitting within the main restaurant. There was always something to eat, and that includes for the children. Likewise, there were snacks available all day and a pizzeria which serves until midnight.

Staff were friendly and helpful, although there was a distinct lack of staff serving at the bar in the evenings. Maybe this was due to the early date of our holiday?

The location was pretty much perfect. Only a short 10 minute walk away from the resort centre, and literally two minutes walk from the lovely sandy beach and crystal clear blue sea (but the sunbeds are expensive at 10.50 euros a pair per day). The glass bottom boats etc. pick up just outside the hotel. A bus stop and land train stop right outside the hotel which was also very useful for a trip out.

The evening entertainment was'nt brilliant but OK, let down by the venue as there are a number of support pillars that can obstruct the view. Kid's and adult activities were held throughout every day, which helped keep the kids amused when not swimming or playing in the pools.

We would definitely go back to this hotel, in fact we are looking into it right now.

we have not long got back from a fantastic holiday here. the rooms were clean and tidy, and always were maids going round and made up your room when you wanted.
the food available was lovely-always something for everyone-always replacing trays just before they were emptied so nobody went without.tables were always made up nicely with tablecloths always replaced.the staff were always friendly to my little boys and loved it when my lads spoke spanish.
one of the staff did refuse entry to my husband one dinner time as he was wearing cropped trousers-however let a couple of blokes in the loudest orange shorts ever in as tehy didnt dare say anything to them-that was my only complaint though.
the evening entertainment was ok however get there early if you want to be able to see it as like others have said there are alot of pillars to obstruct the view.
will definately go back another time- recommended for families with younger children.

best all inclusive we,ve stayed in by a long shot, only downside is drinking out of plastic cups, even at night.never ate out at all because the food was excellent, even at the snack bar .shame they allow smoking though in 1 of the bars.one tip,if you drink wine, take a couple of glasses out of the restaurant after your meal, because its not the same wine at the bars!good money to be won at bingo 237euros was the most when we were there. too many pillars in entertainment lounge so a restricted view of things going on.stunning views from each room apart from 168 which is on top of the dining room.overall a great 11 night holiday even though the wifes case turned up 2 days after we did, also the airport must be the worst in the world. we would definetly visit again.

Just return from our holiday at Hotel America. We had a fabulous time. Staff we're great, especially the bar staff and the cleaners. Room cleaned daily and towels changed when ever required.View from room beautiful. Breakfast was an absolute feast with plenty of choices, as was lunch and dinner. Pool area was cleaned frequently and hosed down every morning.Couldn't fault this hotel except it was a little diificult to find a table to watch the shows as big pillars obscured some of the preformance. But all in all very little to moan about would definately go again.

Where do you start with this hotel, I have always beleived that the Reception staff should be accomodating as they are the first impression. Allas not so, hence their pride that the group has "30 yrs expericnce in exploiting" a freudian slip.
We booked 2 rooms, as was given room 101, not what we booked - needless to say did not unpack.. after much dissagreement and intervention by Thomas Cook rep, we were told no other rooms we had to take the room or sleep where we stood, despite another guest having the keys to 6 other rooms. As good fortune befell us, I meet the guest and releived them of two keys and gave them the 101 (which they happily accepted, although informed me the next morning that its on top of the Disco, ha ha).
Moving into our room with sea view can not complain, maids were in daily and can not complain, beds were made and towels changed.
If only the resturant staff were as efficient, table cloths where invariably dirty.. Not enough larger tables for groups of more than 4, Breakfast was bland, lunch terriffic, and Dinner OK if you need to snach between meals there's reasonable pizza (ok for kids) and the pool bar for Burgers, sandwiches and tosties etc.. where service was always exceptional.
As we are a beach family cant complain about the lack of beds arround the pool or lack of shade as we did not use, that said there was a terrible mess left every evening by the guest so gratefull that I was not sitting arround the pool but if you are there is a life guard and easy access to the unlimited drink!
Would I go back, is hightly unlikely as there is so much more of the island to experience, although it did work out value for money so would not be overly critical wife and kids loved it, I was not taken by too many poor examples of Brits abroad (can you ever get away from them)
Go there expecting no sunbed arround the pool, OK food not great and a view to die for and you wont be dissapointed.
Thank you to the Bar Staff for making it a great stay.

We were looking for a good value, cheerful and relaxing holiday, and hotel America really did tick these boxes.

The room size wasn't huge, but was perfectly adequate and comfortable and air-conditioned. Also very clean. There was no hairdryer supplied though you can hire one at reception.

We went at just about the busiest time and the pool area was always heaving with people, but there's a nice grassy area with loungers just down the steps from the pool which was much calmer. One pool is in full sun and very busy but there's a quieter (and a wee bit colder) one if you need more space.

Our plan had been to eat outside the hotel now and again, assuming we'd be very bored with the food by the end of our 11 night stay, but actually we didn't feel the need to. We are pretty adventurous eaters and keen on sampling local dishes, and although the buffet meals were fairly conservative and some of the dishes were repeated quite often, there was enough variety so that there was always something which appealed to us. It's by no means haute cuisine but is of a good standard. Choice at breakfast was extensive - lovely tortilla! Culinary low point was probably the pizza bar. Toasties and chips from the pool bar were nice. Beer is San Miguel and very nice. The snacks and drinks are served in paper plates and plastic cups (so there tend to be quite a few of these lying around as the day wears on though cleaners are fairly efficient). The restaurant has proper crockery and glasses etc.

The entertainment was fine. No pressure to join in, but there if you want it, and it did pass a couple of hours for us in the evening. Our room was a few floors above the outdoor stage area but this didn't bother us at all as the entertainment was moved indoors at around 11 or 12pm.

Hotel's location is very good. I was glad to be able to stagger up the steps from the beach to my room rather than having to take the(slow!)tourist train.

The only downside really was the "sunlounger situation". Brits queuing up from sunrise to bags their poolside loungers as soon as they got unchained at 9am, and then disappearing for several hours. Very annoying, and we realised after our first day that if you want a lounger at all you have to go and put your towel down. We just walked past the queue (quite early) to the grassy bit where the loungers weren't chained up and got some in the shade of a tree.

just returned from a 10 night stay and found this hotel to be the best all inclusive we have stayed in .the hotel was spotless ,cleaned inside and out daily.there was a good choice of food which was available until 12.00 p.m.there are 2 good size pools which do not allow air beds [if only would ban water pistols as well].the hotel has an excellent location next to the beach and a stones throw from the town centre.only down side is the thin walls and the distance from the airport a taxi is between 70 and 80 euros.i would recommend this hotel to young families.

we arrived at the hotel only to find there was a problem with our two rooms and had to go to sister hotel up the road. i had read reviews saying about over booking but never realised how bad it was it seem to be happening to alot of people yet they were still booking others in .we actually got our rooms two the next day not the best start . the food was lovely something for everyone and always somewhere you could have something to eat drinks ok i dont think they are watered down like others have mentioned .overall the hotel was clean but on a couple of occasions the crockery and cutlery were dirty and tablecloths were not clean. there was lovely seaviews and the beach only a few minutes from the hotel people waiting for sunbeds from around eight in the morning not enough sunbeds for the amount of holiday makers. the entertainment was catered for children ages three to eight nothing while we were there for adults really oh except bingo if you like that sort of thing. the hotel staff seemed friendly i would never visit this hotel again ever

Well The Hotel America is a wonderful hotel if they honour your booking. A word of warning be careful who you book with. These words actually came from the manager to a couple who had the same problems as us. This hotel takes bookings for rooms that they don't have. On arrival they tell you there is a problem with the rooms (usually drains) and they move you to another hoel. Tell you it is only for sleeping in and that you can use the America for everything. Only problem other hotel Club Eurocalas is a 25 minute walk away. If you don't fancy the walk, you are stuck with a Hotel that a tiny snack bar closes at 6pm and the very poor main restaurant, barely warm food, no microwaves closes and 9, so no food after that, also the bar at 11.45 despite being advertised on all the websites as A.I with food and bar being available to 12.

Here is my story. We arrived at the America 11pm Thursday night and told the story, tired and not realizing how far away the other hotel was we were put in a taxi and sent on our way. On the Friday I phoned Beds with Ease complaining (This is who Travel Republic used, as we booked it with them) They said that they hadn't been informed of any problems with the rooms, so they rang the Hotel. It is then that they and we discovered that in fact there were no rooms, not even ones with drain problems. They tried to get us moved to somewhere else but no one had availibility. We then found out that the same thing had happened to about 12 other couples,(easy to spot running round with 2 wristbands) who had used many differents agents. We noticed on the Saturday while visiting the America that they were checking people in, so I went to reception and ask about our rooms, only to be told they didn't have any, I said but you are checking people in. I then ask to see the manager and while waiting for her in reception a guy came and ask for a room change and they said ok but the room would not be ready until 1pm. When I saw the manager I ask her how can you tell us there is not any rooms when you are checking people in and even changing peoples rooms. She said my conditions were different to theres? I told her they were not, that I had booked a room at the Hotel and so did they. She then told me a room would be available from Monday. Had she not have said that. I would have been straight back on to my agents to tell them I wanted flying home.
From what I can gather if you book Thomsons etc or a package, you are Ok but if you use a booking agent, you may get lucky.
The one thing that appalled me was they actually moved a couple, one of whom was in a wheelchair as well, although they got a room the next day.
If this is happening now before the proper summer holidays. I only hope there are not too many disappointed people.
Also when one of the other couples who had also been moved was checking for other accommodation on the internet, it was still showing the America as available for booking with many different agents. This at the time they were telling us they had no rooms.
Only thing I can suggest people do, if you have booked, diy is ring or e-mail the hotel or contact your agent to confirm you have a room and when you get there don't fall for the problem with the rooms story like we did. Get straight on to your agent.
I would love to go back to the America but this has put me off, as I am not prepared to pay what the Hotel itself charge or the like of Thomsons etc. This being about double what I paid. Just hope anyone that has booked has a better holiday then I did.
I have just sent a letter to Travel Republic basically informing them of what this Hotel is doing. Karen

We had a couples holiday in the hotel America it was the third time we have been to the resort but the first time to the hotel. The All Inclusive was well worth it, the food was nice and everyday there was decent food so no need to eat out. The drinks measures where also go and the bar did not shut until 12 and even then you where free to take your drinks and drink outside on the patio or in the reception area. If you missed breakfast (as we often did) there was a snack bar at the pool side there is also pizzeria that you can get a snack at. We didn't try the barbie but it did seem popular. The pool area is very windy and it can feel cold even when the sun is shining but there is a grassy area down a couple of steps that is sheltered from the wind and is a very picturesque area as it looks down onto the beach. The only down side was they started to have a disco after 12 in the Salon area and it was very noisey but if you drink enough of the all inclusive you can sleep through that!

My husband and I got back from our weeks stay this morning - chilled out, relaxed, well fed and having thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel works on an all-inclusive basis but is excellent value for money. The drinks are not watered down as happens in some all-inclusive places - I should know, I drank enough to be able to tell if they were trying to pull a fast one, and there's plenty of choice of spirits, wine, beer and soft drinks which are available from 10am until midnight.

There was plenty of choice of food, both local style dishes (which I would have liked more of but I appreciate this isn't to everyone's taste) and things we're used to getting at home so everyone was well catered for.

I only heard one person complain about the food saying they couldn't find anything they liked - don't know where she was eating, certainly wasn't in the same dining room as me! You know the type - the Brit Abroad who just wants to eat chips, drink lager, get horrendously sunburnt and moan about everything. Each meal was buffet style so you could have as much as you wanted and I really felt spoilt for choice.

Snacks are available from the pool bar and the pizzeria and there is a barbecue in the evenings too. I simply cannot understand how anyone can say they felt the need to eat out whilst staying here. Must be unbelievable picky or just not willing to try anything different.

The room was spotlessly clean when we arrived and this was maintained every day including getting fresh towels daily and every room has a sea view and a balcony (be warned, take pegs if you like to dry your towel on the balcony, it was quite windy last week and a few towels did get blown from balconies).

The pool area is also cleaned twice a day and there always seemed to be someone sweeping or dusting in other areas of the hotel. The staff were great, really friendly and polite, the bar staff in particular did a great job of keeping the inevitable drinks queue to a minimum.

The hotel itself is a few minutes walk from the resort centre which is fairly compact but has bars, restaurants and plenty of small supermarket/souvenir shops. Theres also some activites for the kids in the resort - mini golf, mini karting, trampolines etc but kids are also well catered for by the hotel's own animation team.

The beach is also a 2 minute walk away, both the sand and sea were very clean but as the beach is not owned by the hotel the sunbeds are not cheap so we stayed by the pool most days, despite having to get up early to get a sunbed -its not the Germans who do the towel out at 7am thing it's us Brits!!!

Well if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!! I'd go back tomorrow if I could, highly recommended.

I don't know how they awarded this Hotel 3 stars...

because it's way way better than a 3 star hotel.

Our first ever try at an All Inclusive holiday and it didn't disappoint.
The hotel, location and facilities were superb, we would recommend the Hotel America.

The quality of food on offer was really good and varied, the chips were especially delicious and even there Steak & Kidney pie was better than anything tasted in this country.

The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent maids every day although somehow we never saw the 'invisible' maids.

The location could not be better right on the headland and seconds from the beautiful beach.

The staff were very helpful and friendly especially the bar staff.
There were activities/entertainment for kids & adults through the day and evening.

Would definitely consider returning to the Hotel America.

On arrival at this hotel we were very impressed. Check in was quick and staff were very friendly. Our room was on the sixth floor and could not have had better views. As far as I could see all rooms had a sea view. Our room was a family room for 2 adults and 2 children and was very big. It had 4 proper beds so no sofa beds etc and lots of wardrobe space. There is a TV which you can get BBC 1 if you want to catch up with news at home etc). The views from the balcony were lovely.

The location of this hotel is excellent. On leaving the hotel from the pool entrance there is a path down to the beaches(cala domingos gran and Cala Domingos Menor).

Beware the beach lifeguard though as he sees to have anger management issues! There is also another lovely smaller beach Cala Antenna(which is reached by a number of steep steps so not suited to buggies/elderly people).

At this time of year the beach was never very busy and so there was always space to sit. The first week we were there the weather was excellent but the second week we had quite a few storms, including a tornado warning.

Despite this we came home with very good suntans. Calas de Mallorca is a fairly quiet resort but is an excellent base for exploring the rest of the island as the local buses stop right outside the hotel(but be warned they work to their own timetable!).

Get the bus to Caves of Drach as it only costs 2 Euros per person(while it costs 32 euros per person on the tour operator excursions) and cost 9 euros per person for entry - well worth the money.

One tip is that if weather isn't good and the buses are busy then by the time they get to Hotel America they are full so it is worth walking to another bus stop further up in the resort to get on.

Also went for a day trip to soller and Valdemmosa and took the old train back down from Soller to Palma - most beautifull part of the island and if you can get there it is well worth it.

If you are leaving early in the morning the hotel will provide you with a picnic breakfast or lunch(if you let them know the day before).

Also went to Cala Millor for the day and there are lots of shops etc but I would say it is mainly a German resort.

The hotel America itself is definitely a 3* hotel as far as the accomodation goes. The rooms are large but basic - but for two weeks all inclusive it cost us only £1600 so well worth it.

Food was excellent and dining room very clean and plenty of choice for the kids(including unlimited ice-cream). There was also a pool bar which was open until 6 pm which served hotdogs, burgers, toasties etc.

The pizzeria which was supposed to be open from 12-12 was only open from 6pm -12pm while we were there but was handy for a bite to eat after a few drinks in the entertainment hall.

The garden b-b-q qas non existent but this was due to the time of year and as frequent visitors to Mallorca in October you do not expect all facilities to be available as it is nearing end of season(and is reflected in the price).

Entertainment was the usual mini diso/bingo/act etc but have to say we saw a very good Elvis act one night. Adults were allowed to get 3 drinks at a time at the bar and children 1 drink and bar staff were very friendly.

Tended to get lots of Spanish people arriving for weekend stays which is no bad thing but while they were wondering about in trousers and jackets etc we were in shorts & t-shirts!

If you are looking for a value for money family all inclusive holiday in lovely surroundings then you will not be dissapointed. I would not hesitate to return.

I stayed at the Hotel America in July with my husband and 2 teenage children. We were so impressed with the holiday that my husband and I returned for a further week in Sept with my parents. The hotel is superb for all age groups. There is a vast choice of good quality food, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly. The only downside I would say is that if you have mobility problems there are quite a few steps to the beach and a slight incline to the shops. All in all it is an excellent place to holiday for all and I will certainly be going back.

On arrival at airport was told that the Hotel was over booked (this appears to be a prob looking at other reviews so bewate if you diffinatly want to be at this resort) Although we came up trumps as we were allocated and upgraded to 4 star in Cala Millor.
Which turned out a better location and also had £80 cash back.

We arrived on the 14th August & was allocated a room straight away. It was on the 5th floor with a sea view, but overlooking the annexe with only a partial view of one of the pools.

This wasn't a problem as it was far quieter late at night than having a room overlooking the stage area.

Room was air conditioned which you adjusted yourself and although it diddnt come on as a blast of cold air, the room gradually climatized to a cooler temperature as long as you kept the balcony doors closed.

Room was slightly cramped as we had four beds in it but it certainly wasnt tiny but bigger than I'd expected. We had a tv in the room which had BBC1 on amongst other foreign channels and eurosport etc.

Towels were changed daily and beds changed twice weekly. Rooms were cleaned and beds made each day.
Maid was pleasent and friendly and always accomodating and polite.

We hired a safe which was about 40 euros for the duration (I know its steep but cannot remember exact price) This is invaluable as without this, if something goes missing you have no claim on the hotel.

Staff was always polite and knew me by sight as I kept on leaving the key for safekeeping (like you are allowed to-- a great idea)

Breakfast is between 8am - 10a.
Lunch 1pm - 3pm
Dinner 6.30pm - 9pm.

Pizza place is open from 12pm till 12am.

Pool bar from 10am till 12pm.

Bars open similer hours.

Food quite varied but as with all buffets repetitive sometimes, but something for everyone.
Got fed up with veal though it never came out much more than anything else. But it was always cooked nicely.

Ice cream in a tub is yummy !

Two pools, both not enough shallow parts. Main pool is accesed by steps leading into the shallow bit but a few strides and it gets deep quick. Make sure young non swimmers are supervised or wear armbands so can play safely.

Lifeguard is always present.

Several times during the day, a tune rings out which signifies activities for both adults & kids are starting which are announced by the animation team. You just turn up to join in.

In addition to this there is a kids club under cover between certain times and run by one of the animation team.

Entertainment was better than expected, with quizzes singers, dancers, acrobats , parrot show main show started at 10pm bingo 9.30pm and mini disco at 8.30pm
Also every night certificates are given out to the winners from the days activities, and you add them up as points to get gifts from reception.

From the pool area there are steps leading to a grassed area where a nightly BBQ is lit between certain times. Follow the steps down and you come to a shop selling the usual lilos, drinks etc.
(TIP buy your lilos at the town five mins walk away its cheaper and more varied)

Follow the path down and you come to Cala domingos beach. A lifeguard is always on duty.
(TIP) buy a an after bite pen from your local chemist, it claims to help with amongst others, jelly fish stings should you be unlucky to encounter one as we did one day on our hols !.

Just outside the main enterance there is a football court, and a small park (swings missing) five mins walk is the town, which has bars, the usual shops, crazy golf and a chemist in the center next to the centeral crazy golf.

All in all a super hotel & we will go back next year money permitting.

On arrival at the hotel we had the quickest check in ever. We had a family room, on the seventh floor, which was clean and comfortable. Bedding and towels were changed every day. All of the rooms have a fantastic sea view.

The food was good. In addition to the main restaurant, there is a pizzeria open till midnight, snack bar and a barbecue on every evening. The main resturant served a typical Spanish buffet and there was also a roast every night. It was either turkey, pork or veal. The staff were all very efficient and friendly. The queue for drinks went down very quickly. The drinks selection was great for all inclusive – no shortage of cocktails!

There are three pools, one of which is a kids pool. They are not very warm, especially in comparison to the sea, which was warm, clean and very clear. The hotel is in a great location. The beach is down some steps from the hotel. The shops and bars are less than 5 minutes walk away.

The entertainment was average, starting with mini disco and bingo, followed by sometimes a show, games, quiz or karaoke. During the day there were games on for children and adults.

There was a free for all for the sunbeds which are unlocked at 8.45 am. You had to be there well before then to ensure you got a bed. There were not many parasols and these were reserved from 6.30am. If you want a sunbed be prepared not to get a lie in!

Local buses stop outside the hotel, which go up and down the east coast, form Cala Bona down to Cala D’Or.

We had a fantastic holiday and I would definitely recommend this hotel to people with young families.

Just returned back from 2 weeks at this hotel. The hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. The food was ok but very repetetive. You had a large choice of foods for adults, but not a great deal of choice for the childrens buffet. Snack bar around the pool area was very busy and due to the high season you did have to be patient. The staff were very quick in getting the queues down. The maid was in our room every day cleaning, making the beds and giving us fresh towels. Our room was on the 7th floor and we had a very spacious room(Nr the lift).
Entertainment was poor. The hotel however did put on some shows in which were worth watching. Mini disco for the kids is at 8.30pm-9pm in which the children enjoyed. Many activities ongoing all day to to keep the children entertained. The children also attended the mini club in which they really enjoyed.
The only problem we had with this hotel is that if you need a parasol then you had to be up at 6.15am to get one! Then the sunbeds. The sunbeds are all locked up at night and unlocked at around 8.30am-9am. If you want one of these then you had to be at the pool area by 7.30am to reserve your bed on the pile or you would never get one!!! The hotel doesnt have no were near enough sunbeds and parasols! So if you are thinking of going to this hotel and want a sunbed, then be prepared for no lie in on your holiday!
Due to high season the hotel seemed full. The pool area was packed and not much room between sunbeds to move around. Swimming pool was cleaned everyday and then checked by the lifeguard as he came to work. The only problem we had with the pool is that they allowed to many inflatables in the water and you struggled to keep a watch on your children while they were playing. To us this was a danger.

We got back 2 days ago, from a fantastic family holiday. The hotel is very clean in all areas. The food was of a very good standard. There was a carvary every night. One night veal, another pork and another turkey. Even though it was quite repetitive, we personally didn't find this a problem after all i sure everyone is repetitive at home. In the serving area there was also a choice of other meat dishes, fish and veg. If anyone has cause for complaint then they are just extremely fussy. The location of the hotel is fab, overlooking the beach cove and the ocean. The hotel has 3 pools, 1 small & 2 large. There are loads of shops. Its a little like a maze. Shops are all in the middle. Lovely quaint resort. 2 mini golf courses.
Hotel staff are excellent very friendly. Entertainment OK but could be better, however that really wasnt a problem. Children's mini disco 8.30pm - 9.00pm bingo 9.30pm - 10.00pm and show 10.00pm - 11.00pm. Overall fab Holiday very relaxing. Never gone all inclusive before so was a little dubious, would definitely go again.

We booked this on the Wednesday for a really good price and flew on the Saturday.

The hotel looked like a bit of a concrete monstrosity but you don't spend the week looking at it as you are inside it so that was fine.

The room we were given was in the annexe on the ground floor, a very nice and fairly big room but the balcony was not very good and I don't like being on the ground floor so we asked to be moved, We were moved into the main hotel on to floor 7 on the Monday, the room was a lot smaller but had a view over the pool and beach and we were happier.

The food was fine with plenty of choice although sometimes things would get changed half way through service. The restaurant felt a bit crowded at times and occasionally it was difficult to find a seat. The bar snacks were nice as was the pizza and although it said no food to be taken outside from the pizza place everybody did.

All the staff were friendly, the bar staff always had a smile and the beer was San Miguel which kept hubby happy.
We ate out twice and would recommend Bar Mallorca next to the kids play area and the grill place which is the 1st one you come to walking up from the hotel I think it was called Arista?

We would go again if the price was right.

Hotel was in best location in this resort. Beach down steps that would be difficult if you're not fit.

No complaints about hotel, staff friendly enough, food very good could always find something to eat.

Hhotel room average size but there are larger rooms for four.

We had a lovely holiday here and would go back in the future but a week is long enough as there is not that much to do. Went to pirates show in Magaluf, excellent show expensive but worth it.

The only gripe we would have was the hotel pools were much too cold but my son loves the beach anyway. If you have booked go and enjoy i'm off to the gym to shift some pounds after indulging all week.

Hotel is in a prime position in this resort shame the resort isnt. Couldnt fault the hotel we had an excellent room bigger than the normal rooms weve stayed in. The view was excellent.

The down side is its nowhere, there are a group of shops all selling the same tat but beyond the shops theres nothing.

The food was ok not much of a variety and the combinations of food didnt compliment each other.

The hotel staff were pleasant enough.

The entertainment was ok not brill just ok.
Two weeks was too long here unless you've got lots of money to go out everyday on the trips.

And as with most hotels the sunbed thing is a big joke 7am the first towels appeared well when in Rome we learnt how to play that game.

Stayed at the America from the 14th of May for 1 week. Our party were allocated 2 rooms on floor 8 which had great views of the sea and the coast line.

The hotel was renovated in 2005 so the hotel is in great order and kept clean at all times.

As it was May I would guess that the Hotel was only around 65% full and this was evident in the dining room as a large area was unused. It was also no problem getting a sunbed.

There was an outside bar open from 10.00 until 18.00 hours which served great snacks. We used this facility at lunch time most of the week.

The entertainment at night was held inside as it was still May in a non smoking bar. We did not visit this bar during the evenings so I can not comment on the entertainment. There was also an adults only bar where smoking was allowed and this bar had access to an outside patio area.
We dined in the restaurant in the evenings and the food was of a good standard.

The only hitch was that the choice was limited compared to other A/I that we have been to. A pizza restaurant was also open from 12.00 until 24.00 and this was used well by all guests.

This was a great hotel to stay in and we hope to return again soon.

We booked this holiday and payed a bargain price of under £200 each so I did wonder what we would be letting ourselves in for! It is rated as a 3* and I wouldn't give it more than that though.

The hotel is very clean. Rooms are basic so if you're used to a little luxury i wouldn't stay here!

There wasn't much choice of food but what there is is ok. One night we just ended up with salad and chips!! The food in the poolside restaurant is ok but isn't varied at all, ok if you like pizza, burgers and hot dogs though, although the pizza is very dry as it is left standing until it is gone which could be hours!!

At night there is an entertainments room for kids although the shows at 10 are ok and we enjoyed the music quiz. Then there's another room for smokers which is horrible if you don't smoke! There was no in-between room for couples or people without children which they could really do with.

We wouldn't go back here unless there was some improvement with the food really but if you're looking for a bargain holiday then I wouldn't put you off this!!

Stayed in this resort 24 years ago but not this hotel. The hotel is quite sad and needs updating the rooms are ok but the communial areas are very seventies.

Hotel was very clean and smelled fresh , The food was very plain and basic we stayed in AI earlier in the year and the food was wonderfull compared with this. Saying that there was always something to eat and all too English (steak and kidney pie mash and carrots).

Staff very helpful the location was very good 3mins away from beach , 3 mins away from local shops, bus stops etc.

Entertainment poor.

We would visit again for short late breaks due to the low price paid.

The hotel had a referb in 05 so pools are much better, cleanliness the maid came in every day we were there 10.

Food could be a bit more varied but always found something to eat.

Location ok bur getting to the beach takes your breath away if you are not fit.

Staff are the best who have looked after me.

Nice 3 Star hotel wouldn't say it was more than that.

The pools were very cold sea much warmer long treck down to the beach if you have waking difficulties.

Most of hotel very clean unless you unlucky to have our lazy maid there was a pill on the floor from the people before us and still there one week later left there to see if she swept.

Food was good for 3 star standard and wasn't that too repetative doughnuts for breakfast to die for.

Entertainment was not good and very loud and as all the rooms look over the entertainment no chance of getting away from it till 11.30. Drinks were cheap versions and not that nice.

The pirates trip was excellent we were all in our 30-50's and had a really good time worth every penny.

Wouldn't go back to this Hotel only because we don't usually do short haul.

Could not fault this hotel.Food great with all day burgers, etc at the pool bar, pizza place open 12-12,and restaurant 3 times a day.San miguel on tap in 2 bars, cocktail stuff left on bar to make your own drinks.

Staff very friendly and efficient.

Plenty for the kids to do with the entertainment crew and the two pools are great.
Also a bbq everynight.

The beach is a 3 minute walk but if you have anyone with difficulty with stairs its a no-no.The beach is great small waves-no tide and a life guard.

Sunbeds cost 10.50 euros for 2 and have a sunshade with them.

Resort is small and quiet with the normal shops.Only 1 tabac shop which is closed on sundays.Lots of bars for football and restaraunts are aplenty.

The only downfall is that if you want a sunbed by the pool you have to sort of queue up at about 7.30 in the morning(well the belgians go to bed early).

Would definitely go back to the Hotel America

It was a very clean hotel with lots of helpful and friendly staff.

Just come back yesterday there were lots of teenage groups around the hotel as there was not much entertainment for us.

Beautiful view very close to the beach and a range of shops a walk from the hotel there is a Sophia bar with arcade and internet for kids and teenagers but internet cost a lot 50 euros per 3 minutes bingo is good entertainment.

Only bad thing would be the weather at start was a bit overcast and the lift also getting stuck couple times.

Only went on the water park trip as you’re holiday goes very fast. Phones to ring home just outside the hotel, football games for the lads on the pitch all together was very good holiday. Great for the parents with entertainment and kids ok for teenagers as they make friends in groups.

The hotel was as clean as any we have stayed in before.

We did however have to request that the bed linen be changed at the start of our second week and even then all the sheets weren't changed.

The food in the main dining room was ok but did become repetative and you could always be assured that whatever was leftover would be used next day or in the pizzeria. Snacks from the bar outside were good and very tasty.

The location of the hotel could not be faulted as it offers amazing views of the pool area, beach and of the sea beyond. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the bar staff at the pool area where especially good. One fault was the policing of the pizzeria and taking food out, you where not allowed but many did and if you where caught then you where the unlucky one.

The entertainment staff did there best but all was very boring unless you had young kids or older teenagers. Bingo was the highlight of the night.

The main entertainment of the whole holiday had to be the scramble for the loungers every morning. We always went down about 08.50 and got our spots ok once they unchained the loungers at 09.00. However some people placed chairs where they wanted to sit from as early as 07.30 ( and it wasn't just the English ).

One of the highlights of the holiday was watching a group of foreigners fighting over loungers and one of them actually lift his lounger, go to the bar, get a drink and then come back to his space all this with lounger still below his arm!

Room size and facilities fairly standard but sea view from balcony fantastic. Rooms cleaned daily and towels seemed to be changed every other day.

Food mostly English but several choices at each meal food hot and we all found something we enjoyed each day. Loads of choice on the soft drinks for the kids. Barbecue in garden each evening worth a visit at least once.

Hotel located on a hill which gave great views of Cala Domingos beach and the hills inland. Also only a short walk to resort centre for shops and bars to visit for a change.

Staff friendly and reception staff all spoke good English and were helpful.

Kids entertainers work very hard my kids enjoyed some of the activities they organised. Evening entertainment okay bingo in 5 languages could be a bit confusing after a few drinks.

We visited the Hotel America for the first time and had a great holiday.

The hotel is in an ideal location more or less on the beach, the hotel room had a sea view which was fantastic to wake up to every morning, majority of the rooms do have sea view or a pool view.

The two pools were good and there was also a baby pool. The food was good, always loads to eat all day, it did get a bit repetitive by the second week but then that is to be expected with all inclusive. The coffees were excellent too. The staff were very friendly and spoke English well. Nothing was a problem to them.

The bar staff were especially friendly and great with the kids. There were kids cocktails and also cocktails for the adults.

The entertainment was not that good though, more for younger children than teenagers but we went up the short stroll to the town in the evenings where the entertainment was more to our taste. That didnt bother us at all because there was no other fault with the hotel.

All in all it was a lovely hotel, lovely food, lovely weather we had and being so close to the beach was a great bonus. Lovely hotel, would love to go back tomorrow.

We found the hotel cleanliness to be excellent. On our visit the hotel was full but there were always staff cleaning. The only negative thing I have to say is that unless you are down early (before 8.00am) to get a parasol or before 9.00am when the man unchains the sunbeds then you won't get a sunbed for most of the day. We found this a bit of a nightmare and have never had to do this on holiday before but its probably because the hotel was full as we spoke to people who had been at other times and this wasn't a problem.

We found the hotel food really good as you are able to use the restaurant, bbq (at night), pizzeria and snack bar so there is always something to suit everybody. Food was replenished quickly and there was always a good variety.

We thought the location was excellent, just a short stroll to the shops and beach. I think most rooms have sea views.

We found the entertainment good for families, with a kids mini disco every evening followed by a game of bingo then a show - sometimes karaoke, magic show, quiz, band etc. There is another bar called Sofia bar which isn't all inclusive and they have a disco on until 2.30am every night.

Lovely hotel, great location, staff work very hard a lot busier than I expected.

Get up early if you want a sunbed. Lovely little patio area down some steps away from the hustle and bustle and you can usually get a bed.

Would not like to see this hotel in main season. We had a fantastic time 6 adults and two 14 year old lads they really enjoyed it.

Having two 14 year old with us opened our eyes. Some of the teenagers try to get served to alcohol by turning there wrist bands inside out so they look the same colour as the adults. Boys will be boys.

Food great for the price we paid. The only thing we didn't really like was that the glasses weren't that clean. We mostly used the plastic ones.

If you want to go to the water park book it yourself a lot cheaper. We haggled and got a great price in the car hire place just up the road.

Lovely little bar called central too watch all the sports and big bruv. Nice guys that run it. We had a great time on our first all inclusive holiday and would recommend this hotel.

Would love to go back when it is a bit quieter.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, and the garden area is lovely and well tended.

There appeared to be a bit of a staffing problem in the bar areas as there were not enough bar staff to compensate for the volume of people in this hotel. The same applied to the restaurant. Very overcrowded and the staff found it very difficult to clear tables in time for the next people to be seated. I can only say this was organised chaos but I think this was only due to the volume of people milling around. As this is a larger hotel than we were used to I found it extremely claustrophobic and would hate to visit in the very high season.

The food was very basic and not a lot of variety compared to other all inclusive hotels we have stayed in. I put this down to the size of the hotel and all the guests that have to cram into it.

As for the sunbed fiasco - we found it very amusing watching from our balcony, the many guests waiting under the umbrellas with their towels at the ready, waiting for the man to unchain the sunbeds. Upon his arrival at the pool area, and as the beds were "let loose" it was like watching a swarm of ants running around fighting for beds. And they were all British !! Take note - there is a very nice little patio area down some steps next to the pool bar where you do not have to fight for sunbeds!! We however, stuck to the beach. Far less hassle.

All in all, a lovely hotel but far too large for us and too chaotic. Would not return here.

Came back again to America second year running.

Hotel brilliant. Food endless 7am-12am. One minute walk down to beach. Every room sea view.

Best hotel location in Calas de Mallorca. Bus stops right outside hotel. Two minute walk to shops etc.,

Going back next year.

This is a lovely hotel spotlessly clean excellent food with good choice.

We would definately return but maybe only for a week as there was not much to do for two weeks. The staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. If i had to complain about anything it would be the baby pool it was still far too deep for a toddler.

All in all we thought the resort was ideal for a quietfamily holiday. There is a nice square with lots of shops restaurants and bars which stayed open till late.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel America.

The staff were lovely and it was spotless and the range of food was good but there was nothing to do for people like myself, a teenager I was bored most of the time.

On a rainy day there is nothing to do because everything is outside like the lively bar is outside and so is the pool tables.

Arrived at this hotel with a bad feeling. After having been left by the rep on the previous resort we had to sort ourselves out. The hotel is a lovely hotel and the food was fantastic. The hotel room was clean, with a tv. We found 2 problems. The small town up the hill was very small and basic, some were even closed. The biggest problem for us was there was nothing to do for our 14 year old daughter. Don't recommend this resort/hotel for families with teenagers. Hence we stayed only one night and then were moved to Alcudia.

Best hotel I have stayed in at Majorca, star rating should be higher! very clean with bedroom service daily
most fittings and furnishings looked new and could not fault these at all.

Our room was a good size with 3 single beds , we had a great sea view on the 8th floor.
TV in room which had bbc1,sky news and CNN.

Food was good with something to suit all tastes. There was a carvery each evening and also a BBQ outside from 6-9pm, They had a Pizzeria producing fresh pizzas for 12hrs midday to midnight located near the pool area which also served pasta & chips.

Location of the hotel was good over looking the sea.

Found all of the staff friendly and helpful.

Kids entertainment seemed good ending with a mini disco in the evening, adult entertainment so-so.

Would definitely book this hotel again.

Hotel was exceptionally clean, rooms cleaned every day, clean towels every day, pool area also very clean, restaurant and bars spotless.

Food was fantastic, lots of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, salad bar, fantastic puddings and variety of fresh fruit.

Hotel location overlooking the mediteranean, 3 minute walk to the beach.

All staff very friendly and helpful.

Entertainment ok, early in the season so could get better,
Booked for one week but am looking to book for two weeks next year, highly recommended.

This hotel should be a 4star as the standerd of cleanliness was suberb, food 6 main dishes fish, meat etc. plus all the salad you could eat and the chefs carvery, sweet bar great cakes/fruit even rice pud.

The toaster needs replacing as bread had to go round twice and then it was still white. Bar staff were very good, you could go to coffee lounge 9am have fag and coffee/tea.

The safe was expensive 44euro for 11 nights bus stops just out side hotel dont be scared to use very good service.

I really liked this hotel. It was very clean, though we had a few ants in room. Cleaners came every day and left clean towels, bed changed once in the week we stayed.

The views from the hotel were beautiful and you couldn't ask for a better location, close to the beach and shops.

There are quite a few steps leading from the hotel to the beach but if you have prams you can go out the front of the hotel and walk around, too the left you come to the beach and too the right you come to the pool area.

Food wasn't bad, although on a few occasions it was only warm but they had a microwave. Quit a big selection so we always found something to eat. They also had a big salad range.

This was a beautiful hotel and I would go back again.

The staff, bar a few, were quite miserable. Entertainment staff Eric & Cathy very nice and good fun.

We had mixed feelings on this Hotel. The Hotel itself is in a lovely location all rooms have wonderfull sea views.

Travelling to the Hotel in October wasnt a wise choice as most of the amenities were closed.

I am not a fussy eater but thought the food was disappointment and I have had better at this hotel.

The staff are all very friendly!
This was the first time I was eager to get home!

We arrived at the hotel America at 1am. We were informed that the hotel had been over booked and we had to spend 3 nights at a sister hotel. We were assured that this alternative hotel was 3 star and the facilities were the same.

On arrival at the Eurocalas we were given a room key and a map with a X on it and left to find our room in the dark at 2am in the morning. There were no lights on the landing so we had to use a lighter to find the room numbers. After finding the room we wish we had been left in the dark. I have seen better back packing rooms than this.

This hotel was far from being a 3 star in fact it would be hard pushed to be a 2 star. The food in the restaurant next morning confirmed our fears.

After talking to the entertainment staff and other guests we found out there was over one hundred people had been over booked and given accommodation in 2 separate hotels for between 2 and 3 nights. This was not a isolated problem as we found out this had been happening for 12 weeks.

After arriving back at the Hotel America no apology was offered. If you complained they then offered you a free trip and asked you to sign a form to accept the free trip as compensation. So be very aware when you book here.

Having said that the hotel America is very clean and the position is excellent.

The entertainment was very basic. Bingo and the usual quizzes and games.

The only fault we had was that the food in the main restaurant was never hot and had to use the microwave to reheat the meals.

After this experience of over booking we would not go back to this hotel again.

We have recently returned from an 11 Night stay and have had a wonderful holiday.

The hotel was spotless and the room we were given had a lovely seaview infact every room here does! We have always been on All Inclusive Holidays but can hand on heart say that this is the best one so far, the hotel has recently had 3 million euros spent on it and it shows, all rooms now have air con and with outside temps of up to 40 degs it really was welcomed!

The hotel staff were always very friendly and only to pleased to assist with any queries.

The location of the hotel is beautifully positioned over looking a superb beach, although anyone with waklking difficulties would struggle as it is down a steep slope and steps. A short 2 min walk takes you into the main town with a good selection of shops and bars and a couple of kids areas with bouncy castles/mini go karts etc. This resort is very self sufficient although it is a trek to any major attractions i.e Marineland which is about 1 and a half hours away.

The entertainment was ok, daytime activities were as expected waterpolo, darts etc and evening entertainment consisted of Mini disco, bingo and a show.

Was a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful position and great for the family, in fact we have already booked to go back next year.

Have just spent a week in this hotel and had a wonderful time, every inch of the hotel is spotless, our family room was huge!! Enough room for 6 never mind 4.

The buffet meals were excellent, topped up even before they had run out, excellent choice and a childrens buffet with the usual nuggets, burgers spag bol etc, each meal also had a large selection of beatiful desserts to choose from aswell. snack bar beside pool served chips, burgers etc and there was also a large pizza restaurant just inside that served pizza, pasta etc with drinks, it was spotless.

The location we thought was great, we had 2 large pools and a childrens pool on site (although cold) and a beatiful cove at the foot of some steps, not great if infirm but worth going down to, clean with tons of loungers and a bar set into the side of the hill.

Outside the hotel within a 2min walk was a good selection of shops, cafes etc there was also a large inflatable whale which our kids adored, it cost 2 euros for 15 mins but the chap often just left them on until they got fed up!!

The staff in the hotel were always pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment was ok different things on throughout the day water polo, aerobics, archery, kids games etc, the evenings was the obligatory bingo and shows, a bit cak, but they were enthusiastic!

We had a fantastic week, so much so that on return we went in to book it up again for next year.

We booked this holiday from the Direct Holiday's brochure as a cheap get away deal.

The reps for the travel company were excellent.
The hotel on first appearance was fine.

Rooms were basic but this was reflected by the price of the holiday, but they were nice and clean with great views. No tv though (although we could have hired one from reception).

Food wise there was plenty of choice but it wasnt a good standard, if you got there too late you didnt have much choice at all. Although they did do a carvery a few times a week which was quite nice.

The outdoor snack bar was closed and didnt look like it had ever been open.

The down stairs bar area had pool tables and served drinks throughout the day but was closed at night.

The main bar/entertainments area had a very low ceiling. It was very smokey in there as the night went on and none of the windows opened. Also there were lots of pillars throughout the room so if you sat behind them, you couldnt really see the entertainment.

The hotel in-house entertainment was shabby, but they did put on external showman on various nights which was good.

There was also a quiet room down stairs where you could have a drink in the evenings, no music, and no children allowed, for those who didnt want the entertainment.

The hotel was about 5 minutes walk to the little shopping centre, where theres a crazy golf, bars and resturants aswell. To be honest the whole area looked like something out of the 70's with cracked pavements and closed down buildings, it could do with a revamp to bring it upto scratch. Great English fish n chip shop though at the end nearest to the hotel.

The week we were the weather was not great, we watched sun lounges being blown into the pool by the high winds and everyone was cramped into the downstairs bar area most of the time as it was raining heavily, but after a few days it picked up again and we sat around the pool again.

Someone had brought a stomach bug into the hotel with them that spread like wild fire throughout, the hotel was investigated for food poisioning while we were there, but came back clear.

The whole experience for us was close to a Butlins holiday, cheap, cheerfull exactly what you paid for.
If your looking for a holiday thats rough round the edges and not really bothered about a bit of luxury then you wont be disappointed.

Out of 10 I would rate it at a 3 compared to other holidays we've had in Marjorca.

After reading some reviews on this hotel I was very apprehensive. However after arriving and discovering that the hotel had undergone an extensive refurbishment, I can say that this is one of the best holidays that I have had in Majorca.

The rooms were spotless, towels changed and rooms cleaned daily, large family rooms and some fantastic views.

The food was faultless although somewhat repetitive, however there is a pizza restaurant as well as unlimited hot dogs and hamburgers around the pool during the day.

The entertainment team did there best, the hotel catered for Spanish guests as well as German guests, so we had the entertainment in three different languages, but hey we are a multi-culture society.

Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The views from the rooms were absolutely fabulous.

The entertainment was also very good and catered for all age groups.

The only thing was the location, felt it was a bit out of the way from shops, bars etc.

Never again. Got an allocation on arrival and booked out again after just 2 days.

Full of germans, on a slope to the beach which is so steep you fall over pushing a buggy up hill.

Food was very poor. The chips were always cold and crunchie so if that is all your kids will eat then you will be lost . Entertainment was bad. Never again.
