| said: This was my first visit to the Golden Taurus Park since 1993 and it has changed quite a bit since then. There is a new secetion to the hotel that has the family rooms in and two free form pools instead of the one rectangular pool of the old days.
The hotel is spotless with cleaners working around the clock. The towels and sheets were changed regularly during our ten night stay and the room was cleaned to a high standard. The room furnishings are basic but comfortable and we stayed in a family room with a fantastic pool and sea view. Our one gripe involves careless guests rather than the hotel as people would come in from the pools dripping wet despite signs asking not to. This made the lift floors soaking wet and my 11 year old daughter slipped over and hurt herself.
Although the hotel is a lot bigger than it used to be, make no mistake when I say that the facilities just cannot cope with the large number of guests when the hotel is full. The restaurant opens at 6:30pm and if you were not seated before 7pm then you had to queue. Each night that queue would stretch through the main bar and out towards the reception desk and it could take up to 30 minutes before you got a table. The food itself was repetative and boring. We stayed on a full board basis and towards the end of the holiday we all seemed to be dreading going to the restaurant to eat. The breakfasts are the same every day. You can have a full cooked breakfast, pancakes, omlettes, cold meats with a bit of salad, cererals, breads and cakes. Or if you prefferred you could boil your own eggs. The selection for lunch was very small and to be honest the dinner selection was poor too. We did have a couple of nice meals, but on the whole we were disappointed with the food.
If you didn't come straight out of the restaurant and take a seat in the main bar for the nights entertainment, you were unlikely to get a table. Come 10pm when the main entertainment started, it was standing room only. I have to disagree with the recent review saying the enteratinment was poor as on the whole we found the professional acts to be very good. Particu;arly the Polynesia night. The way they got those poor guys up on stage to do the Mauri Haka dance was just hilarious and the Bejeing Acrobats were great too. But, they also had Karaoke and Miss Golden Taurus Park which wasn't our thing so we didn't watch on those nights. The evening starts at 7:30 with party dances, and games for the kids done by the Thomson reps and the hotel animation team takes over with Mini Disco for the kids until 10pm. So the kids are taken care of for a whopping two and a half hours. Great if like us you had children with you but it must of been a bit boring for couples.
The hotel is in my opinion, ideally situated between Pineda and Calella. It's about 15 minutes in either direction into both resorts where you will find loads of shops, bars and restaurants. Pineda train station is nearby and it's only 7.40 euros for a return ticket to Barcelona, and is FAR cheaper than taking the Thomson excursions. My son and I went to Camp Nou and by taking the train and Metro ourselves, we saved 38 euros compared to the excusion price!
The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Kelli the guest services manager. Her knowledge of the area was second to none and when I asked for the easiest route to the Nou Camp, I was given full and precise step by step instructions on how to get there, the costs involved and train times along with a map on how to walk from the metro station to the stadium. Brilliant. Thanks Kelli!
The Thomson Reps were OK, but Tom needs to learn how to smile and he has very little knowledge about anything and on the two ocassions I needed to ask a question, he couldn't provide an answer and I had to ask another rep.
One word of warning, the hotel pools are FREEZING! My kids were rather reluctant to go in them and we found the sea to be much much warmer. But they are charging 4 euros each for a sunbed and parasol. Plus the sea shelves rather steeply just after you walk in.
On the whole, it was an OK holiday and I am glad I went back after 17 years, but I won't go again especially in August as the hotel cannot cope with the larger capacity of guests.

Ian from Richmond (London) travelled to Taurus Park Hotel Golden with
SIESTA HOLIDAYS
on a family holiday. There were 3 adults and 1 child(ren) in the party. The travel date was 07 2009 |
Ian rated the Taurus Park Hotel Golden as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Location | | | Staff | | | Food | | |

| said: Golden Hotel Pineda de Mar, Costa Brava
DICK TURPIN OWNS THE VENDING MACHINES!
Advantages: Great for the kids, Great Swimming pools Pools, Friendly Staff, Vast selection of food. Clean.
Disadvantages: Expensive inside the hotel, noisy, poor location, gritty steep shelf beach outside the hotel.
Firstly...lets be under no illusions...ITS FOR THE KIDS!
So if your planning a quiet holiday in the sun...NO NOISE..NO CROWDS... I suggest you look elsewhere!
(Unless your taking your holiday out of season when I feel the hotel and its surroundings will be a little less hectic.)
PINEDA and CALELLA. (THE RESORT)
The hotel is located in-between the two resorts.
Pineda to the North (about 10 minutes)or Callella to the South (About 25 minutes)
Or if you wish the two resorts are served by a little road train which completes a circuit between the two towns.
About €2.30 for a return ticket or a round trip.
It boasts a 15 minute turn-around time.
Sometimes there is only one train in service and a complete circuit can take over an hour!
The train leaves from right outside the hotel....if you miss the train..(OR ITS FULL!).. Judging the next arrival/departure is a bit of a lottery.
Pineda is the smaller of the two resorts.
Entertainment wise (it’s a one street town) with several restaurants’ and bars and the usual array of trinket shops.
(Very pleasant but not a swinging nightspot!)
Calella is the livelier destination.
If its a busy resort you are looking for, I suggest you head north towards Santa Susanna, Malgrat and Blanes or a little further to Lloret. (NOT FAR!)
I’m afraid to say the beaches in Pineda and Calella are poor
A Builders Merchant Paradise.
Gritty Sand/aggregate!.....with a steep shelf into the sea.
Take a pair of sandals or flip flops because its impossible to walk (OUCH!)
The beach is easily reached by crossing the road and a subway underneath a railway track (COSTA BRAVA/BARCELONA line) about 5 minutes walk!
THE HOTEL.
I sometimes had the feeling that this hotel was searching for an identity!!
At times (In the quiet periods) you could be mistaken that you were in hotel designed to attract the more discerning customer.
UNTILL THE KIDS WAKE UP! Then all hell breaks loose!
As I said ..ITS FOR THE KIDS! So that is only to be expected.
The hotel is bustling throughout the day!
Facilities.
Two main swimming pool areas (NORTH AND SOUTH)
The Southern area tends to be the quieter as the north becomes the main family entertainment area during the day.
Both have kiddies paddling pools.
The pools are clean and well maintained.
They are each served by a Snack bar area selling ice creams, crisps, soft drinks alcohol and Tea/coffee etc .
Not Cheap! OWNED BY DICK TURPIN I THINK!
The Northern pool starts to shade over at about 16:00 to 17:00 ish which then attracts guests to the southern pool which is (half in the shade) until about mid day. Then sunny until the end of the day! (HIGH SEASON ESTIMATIONS)
There is also an indoor pool (SALT WATER I THINK) It certainly tasted like it when I received an unexpected mouth full!
Within the hotel grounds their is a small zoo...Goats, birds, rabbitts etc (Open from 15:00hrs to 17:00hrs only)
A 9 hole crazy golf...very poor and they charge you over €2 to play. (DICK TURPIN ENTERPRISES!)
Lasts about 10 minutes!
A kiddies play park..slides..swings climbing frame etc ,and a tennis court.
MEALS
Breakfast.
Served from about 07:45. To 10;45
Fresh Fruit, Salad, Cereals, Pancakes, boiled eggs or BOIL YOUR OWN EGGS! Fruit juice , tea coffee and the good old FULL ENGLISH which will probably give you a FULL ENGLISH HEART ATTACK! (IF EATEN EVERY DAY DURING THE HOLIDAY!)
Evening Meal
From about 18:30 to 21:45
Can be a bit of a FREE FOR ALL! during some periods!
The selection is vast!
Salads, Carvery, Soups. Themed Hotplate each night, (SPANISH-CHINESE, GALA, , ETC) + a kiddies hotplate...chicken nuggets etc!
Fesh fruit, sweets...puddings and deserts in abundance.
Drinks during the evening meal are purchased separately and there is a waiter service.(PAY ON EXIT)
As the Hotel became busier I think the quality of the food started to lapse, but as an overall judgement I would think that the standard is quite high.
Should you miss these timings, there is a separate Snack/Restaurant, serving food throughout the day.
Pizzas, Burgers, Chips, Ice Cream, Etc ....NOT CHEAP!. DICK TURPIN PRICES...
This is open from about 10:00 ish until the early hours of the morning.
AFTER THAT...the hotel has a number of vending machines which can offer a variety of ice creams, soft drinks, confectionary, crisps and even a machine which produces toasties and burgers etc....
But be warned, they are NOT CHEAP.
DICK TURPIN ENTERPRISES!
As an indication of cost for the hotel snack bars and vending machines......
A Mars Bar or a bag of crisps are about €1.30
Water, 500ml about €1.50
Soft Drink..Coke Fanta 330ml etc about €2.00. A large beer about €2.40
A Cocktail...almost €5.00!
At the time of this review a €1.00 was valued at about 90 pence!
Stock up from the little shop just outside the hotel...SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER....!
As a comparison...1 litre of water in the shop outside the hotel could be purchased for less than 50cents (or half a €)
KIDS CLUBS.
You guessed it...
They have enough to keep the kids entertained while you top up your suntan.
ALL AGES.. Tots to teenagers.....All activities!
Excellent Staff!
Hotel staff and Thomson reps provide the joint responsibility of entertaining the kids while you relax!!
Evening Entertainment
ITS FOR THE KIDS...!!!!
The main bar offers a varied selection of party games...competitions...guest performances of .......
COSTA DEL circuit acts MAGIC, TRIBUTE BANDS, and Karaoke.
It can be busy at times!! Careful not to trip over the pushchairs!
If you have ever experienced a Haven or Butlins Holiday you can expect pretty much the same!
Open to well past 01:00hrs in the morning!
THE KIDS LOVE IT!
Alternatively there is the Habanna Bar! (PIANO BAR)
This is an area where you are permitted to smoke! (IF YOU WISH)
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The resident entertainment act,
(singing a selection of Roy Orbison and Elvis songs ), will probably commit you to slit your own wrists or jump off the balcony long before the smoke inhalation claims your life!
However...its never full and you get served a drink very quickly!
Open from the early evening to Death O'clocK in the morning!
STAFF.
Considering the circumstances they fair very well.
Most are polite, helpful, and very knowledgeable. (THIS INCLUDES WAITERS, DOMESTIC STAFF, RECEPTIONISTS, ENTERTAINMENT, BAR STAFF and ATTENDANTS)
However I would not blame them if every so often they were a bit grumpy....SOME OF THE GUESTS WERE RUDE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE ‘POPE KICK A HOLE IN A STAIN GLASS WINDOW!’
ACCOMMODATION
Basic and Clean
What more can you ask for!
Shower/Bath
TV
Hairdryers.
However.: There is no fridge!...Dick Turpin had them all removed... Very clever...
All chilled items are best kept in the vending machines anyway!
The hotel has about 850+ rooms and it is very noisy at night... Especially if you are located above the entertainment areas.
There are some rooms large enough for whole families and some set aside for singles. (some do not have a balcony.)
Twin rooms all have balconies and can be converted to accommodate 3 beds or two beds and a cot etc.
I travelled in a party of 4.
My wife , Daughter and 6 year old grand son occupied a Twin Room with three single beds.
I was allocated a single room with no balcony.
However the room was as larger than the twin room AND THE BED WAS A DOUBLE!!...(ALL TO MYSELF TEE HEE!)
As a final comment I was appalled by the behaviour of the teenagers/YOUNG PEOPLE! .. Chanting and swearing in the early hours of the morning. Both outside... and in the hotel corridors. The walls are thin and do not provide an adequate acoustic barrier to anything...even the next door neighbours snoring or other bedroom activities (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!)!
ALSO...THE COCKEREL IN HOTEL ZOO SHOULD PLUCKED , GARNISHED, AND ROASTED FOR TEA !!!.
IT WOKE ME EVERY THE MORNING at about 07:00hrs! Along with the emptying of the bottle bank 06:00hrs, The pump that cleans the swimming pool at 05:00hrs and the noisy teenagers! 04:00hrs!
And finally, lets not forget the bed time frolics of Mr and Mrs %"?!! in the next room, who (Apparantly) were happy to be together at 03:00hrs in the morning,,OH YES OH YES OH YES YES YES!
I would have gladly thrown a bucket of cold water over them.
Sadly Dick Turpin only sold cold water from his vending machines by the bottle!
Happy Holidays!

Absolutely spotlessly clean hotel, cleaners around everywhere, all the time.
Fantastic staff, so much going on all through the day for kids of all ages and adults!
Food was great, kids especially loved the pancakes cooked for them at breakfast!
Pineda is pretty quiet but I don't think you really need to go anywhere with all that's going on in the hotel.
We will definitely return here for a longer stay next year and take a few more people along for the ride!

| said: just got back from this hotel and have to say was quite impressed apart from a few niggles that i will mention first. Room was over the main bar and restaurant and so was very noisy so you couldnt sleep til the shows ended at 12.30 am. Also the clanking in the kitchens got on your nerves too, Id booked 12 months in advance and requested a pool or sea view but got neither sadly. The food was okay and you wouldnt starve but it wasnt great. The prices in the hotel were extortionate so make sure u fill up at the mini market a minute away. Internet time was 2 euros for just 8 minutes and for a malibu n coke it cost almost 5 euros(we paid between 2 and 3 elsewhere). The mini zoo at the entrance was in a sorry state and every time i went past there were kids manhandling the turtles.I only asked reception for one request during my stay that was to give me a wake up call as we had an early flight-unfortunately they didnt but the cockeral woke me up.OK now the niggles out of the way the hotel is very clean and the maids and cleaners do a stirling job. The staff were mostly lovely and friendly but the older staff could seem rude and grumpy. The entertainment seemed fine and the kids club was good even though we could only get in a few times because it was too full. The pools were very busy and you struggled to find a sunbed after 10 am.getting breakfast and dinner took a bit of getting used to as its so busy but Jose the head waiter did very well.Rooms were ample although nothing special. We all enjoyed it so with a different room would probably return

evening meal-choice of about 3 meats i.e. pork chops/steaks,lamb chops /steaks, chicken duck steak, turkey also stews the meats were of cheaper cuts but were still ok.always some fish on the menu and chips, potatoes, pasta, rice, salad ham cheese, pat'e 2 soups, bread and rolls, large selection of desserts.kids food nuggets, fish fingers, pasta & sauce, breaded fish etc.there was a guy cooking food to order i.e. fish, steak, pork steaks etc.they had a chinese night with lovely ribs and spring rolls ,sweet and sour sauce, chicken curry, rices plus lots of other stuff, one night their was paella another mussels lovely, you do get fed up with food after awhile but you always do with buffets.
the hotel staff were mostly good the younger staff friendly the two older men behind bar were miserable.
the entertainment was ok acrobats, magician, tribute to four tops, karaoke etc all the usual suspects we went into the resort to different bars about half of the time.
my daughter(11)joined tribe but only went once as she said she didn't like one of the staff but she enjoyed herself and made friends with other children.it was about a 10-15 min walk to the centre of pineda turn left and i'd say about a 20min walk turn right to calella their is a little train you can catch to both places 1.30e on way and i think 2.20e return.i didn't rate calella to me it appeared dirty, crowded and was just one long narrow street.

the hotel is very noisy with people running up and down corridors, shouting and banging in the early hours.
our family room was over a bar with an open terrace that stayed open til 3.30am!not a good idea in a superfamily hotel when children are trying to sleep.
food cold and swimming in grease.very mixed items each evening meal, nothing to match with to make a meal.
hotel staff rude and unhelpful when trying to make complaint.
entertainment terrible very loud and very reptitive.
hotel very expensive for drinks and food from snack bar.would not recomend this hotel or stay there again

We never had any major complaints 25 years ago and we never last year either. The hotel has been re vamped and extended in the last 19 years but the feel for it has not changed. It is very geared up for kids and, to be honest, if it was just the two of us, we would nt of gone back, even 19years ago it was still geared up for kids and we as a couple was like fish out of water. It always has and proberly always will be a family orientated hotel and its great. Food was nice, repeatative after 2 weeks but it always is where ever you go. Entertainment was good both kids stuff and adults later on. Pool areas are lovely so is the bar areas. Always clean reception areas and the rooms were clean too. Can not fault.

| said: Hotel has a very smart appearance with guests from all over. Very fresh and very clean - always a cleaner abount!
You arrive and have to go up to steps or slope to the front doors. It's a non smoking hotel apart from outside and in the Habana Bar.
Hotel seems to have everything! laundry area, showers for leaving day, luggage room.
Open reception area with maps & papers on sale, money exchange, most staff spoke english (one actually British)internet and playstations, thompson desk, Animation information board, tables and chairs. toasties, drinks machines for late night hunger pangs.
Access to the main bar where evening entertainment held.
Thompsons entertain until 9pm ( never saw any of this to coment), then animations kids disco till 10pm then various acts - man with snakes, chinese acrobats, spanish acrobats magicians.Entertainment was varied, although some not to our taste.
Bar did get busy in the evening with poeple getting there very early, Happy hour was 5pm-6pm. There's an outside seated area.
Through the bar you get to the restaurant.
Food was outstanding, breakfast choice of cold meats, cheese, rolls, toast, boiled eggs, beans, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, fried egg, fruit, toasties, pancakes, sweet breads and jams, omelettes, cava, fruit juice, cereals, coffee, tea etc.....
Dinner lots of choice but recommend looking round all the food areas first. salad bar, soups, rolls, hot food all being restocked all the time, various puddings, fruit, icecream, cheese & biscuits, hot griddle freshly looked steaks or burgers etc, aswell as kids buffet.
Best time to go for breakfast we found was before 9.15am and dinner was after 7.15pm if you didn't want it too busy.
On a Monday it's their speciality nights, chinese one week, Spanish the next. Gala night on Sat was very nice. You have to pay for drinks in the evening.
Stayed in a family room on 2nd floor of the newer part overlooking the less crowded pool (the one with the bar in the middle of it) and sea (room 281)we had sun during the day but not in the evening-
Double bed in one room with fitted wardrobes and safety deposit box and patio doors to balcony with table and chairs and washing line/airer.
Main room with wardrobe, desk & tv with 3 british channels, 2 or 3 single bed (real beds not put-me-up type)window and bathroom - shower/bath, double sink, bidet and loo and hairdryer.
The maid made the the beds every day, not sure how often the linen was changed-probably 3 times in 2 weeks, but the room was cleaned everyday!
Thompsons have their own kids clubs down stairs next to indoor pool. Kids liked them but times were a bit awkward for us as in 2 different age groups.
Animation Team were fantastic! My daughter was on the dancefloor doing their dances every night!
Various events during the day for adults and kids clubs for kids (4-12yrs)of all nationalities in their cabin and evening club downstairs 10pm -11.30pm.
There's a park, crazy golf, roller skates, bike hire and zoo at the front of the hotel.
Pools-the main one was busy from very early on even though it said towels weren't to be put on beds.
There's a freeform pool and a square pool (where they play volley ball etc)and a kids pool. A stage for daytime entertaimnet and pool bar, lots of beds.
The other pool was less crowded earlier on but the beds are very close together as in the other pool area but on this side there is room to move them and spread out. Pool bar in the middle and baby pool. Steps down to the indoor pool. Towels were put down but not until 9am around this side-same time other pool side would have been full.
There's a lounge area, snack bar, pool tables and card tables aswell as access to the front through the snack bar.
There is a supermarket outside which was very reasonable and a few bars like the Tavern, Mamas and Papas and Pepe's. 10 mins to the left (along the sea front) and your in Pineda and 15 mins to the right your in Calella.

Hotel is the cleanest ever 24/7.
Food is fantastic they even have a mixed choclate fountain and strawberries.
Location is very quiet close to the beach and 10 minutes from caella and pineda town centre.
The staff are fantastic and are happy to help what ever time of the day or night.
Entertainments fantasic and so are the staff, they are entertaining from 10am until midnight.
Yes I would visit this hotel again and we have a better deal than last time.
We love this hotel and its gets better year after year.

Points/tips
It is a very busy and noisy hotel.
Ideal for our 5 year old we only used hotel run kids club,if you can, get a high floor room in the new block overlooking Callela.Food was ample and plenty but it never seemed hot enough.Like many we were on a budget so the drinks in the hotel we had to watch what we were spending but a good tip is use the happy hour buy a bottle of wine and take with you when you go in dinner. On the whole the hotel is very clean and staff were good.My daughter loved the pools and enjoyed the best staff in the hotel the annamation team they work so hard but always smile and are very quick in remembering your names. With the money we saved by not going with the main travel company who use this hotel we are going back on the 18th of Sep.

| said: well we have just returned from the hotel on sept 1st after having 2 weeks at the hotel.
The hotel is still tops for cleanliness, and our room were done everyday with fresh towels as well.
The food was a little disapionting, but there was still alot of choice, and spanish and chinese night on mondays.
The location is 10 mins walk from pineda town centre and callela, which can be walked along the prom, or if your lazy take the noddy train.
The staff: The hotel animation team were great fantastic as always, Barbara she is in the mini club with the crazy Ana, her laugh is just so funny, she is so crazy and fun to be around.
Peter is our only male animation and he loves telling his jokes, and just keeps every entertained.
Maike, is really good at her job, and speaks many lanuages, she is another crazy one to be around and without her and the most best ever entertainer, it would never be the same, the pair of them are just great, and we will miss them all very much.
The reception staff are fantasic and all of them speak good English, The bar staff are also very friendly and speak abit english.
The entertainment was very good this year with a comedian, and 2 tribute bands, chinese arobats, and the daytime entertainment is great plenty to do.
The thomsons entertainers kooky cat and our Skyla, made a great team together, they were really good and it would be great to keep them there for next year.
I did not rate the thomsons reception staff very good, especially the one with brown hair quite big, ( no names) she was quite rude at times,
I booked my 3 trips with the hotel reception and saved 50 euro's for each trip, so take note.
we are going back to the hotel twice next year but never again with thomsons.
well done to Skyla and Kooky cat, you were the best thomsons staff ever,
hope to see you all next year.

| said: Well let me be the first to review the Taurus for 2007.What can i say but not much has changed since our first and last visit in 2005. Infact so little has changed there was even the same Chinese show on the Monday night with the same act and they did the exact same show as 2 years previous.
One thing you will notice that's changed though if you haven't beeen for a while is the olympic swimming pool has been replaced by a smaller Kidney shaped one similar to the other side of the hotel.
There is also a smaller pool at the end and a very shallow one for the kiddies. You won't find this by looking at the hotels website as they haven't updated their site but if you check out the Thomson site it's on there, that's how I found out before we left.
Before we left and some time ago i emailed the hotel through their website asking for rooms no higher than the 2nd floor as this is what we was on in 2005 and found this high enough for us.
I also requested the, what was olympic side. Well got there and yes we had that side but found ourselves on the 6th floor right over the back at the end away from the reception.
Asked to move but they said no because we had 2 rooms. So the moral of the story is if you email them and request a certain room etc etc then don't expect to get it.
The entertainment has improved a little bit by that I mean I noticed slightly more outside shows put on but they were pretty much the same as I said as 2005 ie a magic show and a comedy show.
This still starts at 10pm after the annoying kids songs that are the same every night. There is still a happy hour at 5pm before the restaurant opens. Something this time that I never noticed before was the hotel was overrun from Friday night for the weeekend by the Spanish and it got very busy.
The restaurant got very busy and there was hardly any tables around while they were there.
On the food side it is still good but i didn't enjoy it as much as 2005.There seemed to be alot of lamb or beef in a sauce type food.
I'm very fussy so didn't like that so found myself eating chips more wherer in 2005 I maybe had them only once. The pancakes are still there in the morning so enjoy them.
I suppose that's about it what more can I say as not much has changed.
I would like to add though that on Thomson's site and at the hotel they say that they are the only people that offer the taurus for the Brit's. That's simply not true as I booked everything myself DIY alot cheaper than they wanted, as I did in 2005.
If you want to know where to book the hotel then drop me a email/PM and I'll happily pass the info on:)

Food was adequate but nothing special, although, the pancakes were really delicious in the morning. Most of the waiters/waitresses were friendly, but on three occassions they forgot to bring the drinks we had ordered with our meal, very annoying when you have to keep asking.
Reception staff were very friendly and really appreciated you communicating with them in Spanish.
Entertainment team were fantastic with the children and really looked after them. The evening entertainment was the same thing everynight...boring after a while.
We enjoyed our holiday but I would only recommend this hotel to people who have children as the hotel is full of them running mad everywhere and shouting at the top of their voices.

The hotel teams kept the children entertained all day an all night. I think we are going to book again for next year soon!!
The reps are very friendly and helpful, especially the children's reps and the hotel team are also friendly and helpful.
We did not really venture outside the hotel much, because the kids were certainly not bored and did not want to, they were too busy having fun. Kelli's team are amazing, and so are the thomson gang!
The food is really nice and plenty of choice.
The hotel location was ok, not much around really, but the local noddy train that stops right outside the hotel, will take you where you want to go!!
The entertainment was brilliant for the kids!
Hotel staff nice and rooms spotless!!
Would not hesitate to go again, but not in September!! We got a little wet for a couple of days.

This is the first year that we have come along with our 13 year old daughter on her own, without her brother who is now 18 and no longer wishes to join us on the family holiday.
We were of course a bit worried about this because it would have been a long holiday if she had not met anyone, but we need not have worried, the very first day of arriving she met numerous friends of various ages and nationalities, which was great. For the first week of the holiday we did not see her all week, except for dinner and to get changed for the evening, I,m sure that people must have thought we came with no children.
The entertainment during the day and the evening is absolutely superb, first class, there is something on all of the time for all ages both in and out of the water. The thomson reps, Hannah and Jo, were fantastic and always had time to speak to you, full of energy.
Kelli, is fantastic, she bounces around more than tigger, makes you tired just watching her, I dont know what she lives on but I wish she would share it, it is so obvious that they all enjoy their job. The shows the reps put in are amazing and have to be seen.
The food is more that adequate and always several choices.
The bar, some of the drinks we thought were a bit pricy, but other things more than make up for this.
We went to Barcelona on our own by train and was only 6 euros return and took about 1 hour at the most and is very easy to do as the train station is approx 10 minute walk away.
I would recommend this holiday to everyone, it is great. We are already booking for next year as are some of the people we met whilst there.
Hannah if your reading this or get the chance to see this PLAY UP POMPEY!!!
Looking forward to seeing you all next year

| said: The hotel is fine for people who are able to manage a lot of steps, my husband and I found the steps we had to negotiate every time we wanted to go back to our rooms was daunting. Steps to go up from the pool area no hand rail and then there were steps down to the lifts which were slippy when people had been in the pool and again there was no hand rail my stick slipped nearly throwing me down them if my daughter hadn't hold of me tightly. After asking if there were other ways to get to our rooms without having to use steps we were shown another way up on lifts along very long corridor and then down lifts which again wasn't very good as far as we were concerned. I think that Thomson's should be aware this isn't a good hotel for people with walking difficulties. We did make this clear when we booked but obviously it was overlooked.
We thought the food could have been better although the pancakes and omelets were very nice.

| said: My husband, my three year old daughter and I have just returned from the Taurus Park after having a really fantastic holiday experience there!! When we booked we wanted somewhere that was suitable for children, and this was definately the right place.
There was something to do for children of all ages right from 3 to 12. The kids clubs were brilliant. My daughter went almost every day, met lots of new friends and they did something different every day - even a treasure hunt throughout the hotel. It was also really nice to have some time to ourselves whilst she was at the Kidzone and it was all very professional and the reps were all trained appropriately in child care, just like here in the UK.
The hotel was very clean (cleaners seemed to be there all hours) but unfortunately the cleanliness in the rooms was disappointing. The maid just made the beds (which only got changed once a week), and put some bleech down the loo, that's about it. The floor was always dirty and the bathroom tiles over the shower didn't seem to have been cleaned. However, it was basic and didn't pose a problem as you only sleep in there, so don't let this put you off.
The hotel food was very good. Lots of choice, nicely cooked food with a chef cooking fresh items daily at both breakfast (pancakes / omelettes) and in the evening (steak / kebabs). The children's buffet was a little bit disappointing, only 3 dishes to choose from, but because there's so much more it didn't cause any problems!!!
The hotel is situation accross from the beach, separated by a main road and railway line. Please don't let this put you off. The road was safe to cross and the locals alway's stopped to let you cross which was really nice. The railway line is a coastal service and although the trains are frequent, you didn't really notice them much and it definately didn't put us off.
The hotel staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Our daughter was ill during our stay and we had to seek medical attention. The reception staff spoke perfect English and through the help of the FANTASTIC Thomson 24 Hour Helpline, they arranged for a local English speaking GP to visit our room and attend to our daughter. All bar and waiting staff were very friendly.
The entertainment, well what can I say? It was brilliant. They had a tot's disco every night from 7.45pm, then a mini disco from 8.30pm. Prize presentations at 9.45pm and then the main show starting at 10.00pm. However, although it was good fun and kids loved it, it was the same every night, so it did get a bit 'annoying' listening to 'Agado' and 'Star Trekking' every night.
The daily entertainment team were fantastic with all sorts of games and competions going on all day every day. Hannah was in charge of the Thomson entertainment and was brilliant. Kelly (who I think must have been there for years) was in charge of the hotel entertainment team and was amazing. They definately deserve gold medals for the hours they put in and you never saw them without a smile on their face.
I would definately recommend this hotel to families looking for a good 'children friendly' entertainment and hotel based holiday. I would like to go back again, but we will definately be trying other Thomson Superfamily Holidays elsewhere for comparison.

BIG bonus the inside area of the hotel e.g. the bar is now none smoking a plus for those with children.
The food was lovely with different menu offered each night .On the minus side this hotel proved to be noisy with children running riot with little control from their parents.
This hotel benefits from 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor and lots of loungers. There is even a soft play and zoo so plenty for children of all ages.
Would recommend it to anyone thinking of going there.

The breakfasts have improved since last year, they have proper saugages, not those skinny ones. They also have themed nights on mondays Chinese or Spanish and a gala dinner on a Friday.

The location is away from night life as you have it all at the hotel.
The hotel staff are really nice and helpful, and if you need anything they will do there best for you.

This is going to be our 11th time back at this hotel in August, it is has a variety of meals for everyone.
The hotel is cleaned 24/7.
The location is in the middle of 2 towns - turn left out the hotel for Pineda 10 minute walk and to the right 10 mins to Callela.
I wish this hotel was 4 or maybe 5 star, as there is not a bad thing to say about the hotel and its staff. We come back to the hotel time and time again, and hopefully will still be goin until I am a pensioner, then maybe I will enjoy the Habana bar where the oldies go, and the quiz nights are held. We have watched the entertainment over the years and they just get better they never stop, and we have made great friends with the families that live out there.
Cannot wait for August, maybe we could sneak a week at May 1/2 term.

When they made the alterations in the winter 2005 we were really surprised at how much work went in to the hotel, and in May 2006 we were pleased as they made it a no smoking hotel, you can smoke on the outside terraces, which was fine, but as you can see what ratings I have put, that was our 11th time here and 2007 will be our 12th time.
They say you get what you pay for, well you actually get more at this hotel then any other one I know of.
We are not going back in May, but August for the fayre they have along the prom, the last week in August.
The entertainment is excellent well just read the other reports on Taurus park, further down the list.

| said: We booked this holiday a couple of weeks before and booked Ryanair flights and the hotel with www.hotelclub.net.
This holiday with a hire car (www.carjet.com - recommended) was half the price of booking with a holdiay company.
We had a great week at this hotel and were very impressed.
When arriving at the hotel, the check in was very quick, our key was waiting on the reception desk as they were expecting us.
We were in Room 148 which was overlooking the Olympic pool. The room was a good size for 2 adults, our 5 year old and our 2 year old in a cot. It was very clean and had a large balcony (because we were on the first floor in this part of the hotel - not all balconies were large, in fact some were very small).
The staff were very helpful. We had booked a cot but this was not in the room when we arrived, but after speaking to reception, 5 minutes later, it was delivered to our room and made up for us. Also, our daughter was sick in her cot and on one of the beds and the sheets were changed when asked.
There was a TV which you did not have to pay for. It had English channels although this was controlled from somewhere else in the hotl, so one day you could have BBC, the next ITV but there was always CNN and BBC world for the news.
There are 3 pools at the hotel, an olympic pool, a freeform one with a bar in the middle (this was very good for children as it sloped in so you could gradually walk in to it) and an indoor pool.
The entertainment was very good, run by the hotel animation team and the Thomson Reps. There is a Thomson mini disco first, then a hotel mini disco before the main evening show.
The food was excellent - something for everyone. Huge variety for breakfast including cereals, fruit, bread and pastries, cooked breakfast, cold meats, pancakes and omelettes which are cooked infront of you and are a must!
Evening meals are good, with a good choice for children too with their own buffet corner. Very varied, with a good choice of meat, rice, pasta, fish and some dishes were cooked on the grill in the restaurant (steaks, kebabs etc.). Plenty of fruit for afterwards and gorgeous desserts. Ate far too much in our week there.
The restaurant is very well run. Food is being replenised all the time. There are plenty of good quality highchairs for the little ones. Not sure what it is like in the busy months though, as the hotel was not full and it got quite busy.
The bar seems to be quite reasonably priced for a hotel. There is a Happy Hour - 2 drinks for 1 between 5 and 6 (and at 1am in one of the bars for the night owls). You are not allowed to take drinks from the bar into the restaurant though.
There is an excellent supermarket over the road called Suma which is VERY cheap and well stocked. Cans of Pepsi cost 0.40 euro (30p) You are not meant to take stuff back to the hotel, but everyone does and I think the hotel turn a blind eye.
There are only a few negative comments about the hotel.
The first is how smokey the bar area is. There are some non smoking tables at the front by the stage. The problem is when you enter the bar area to access the restaurant which is in the same area. This is not very pleasant on your way to eat or after you have eaten.
The price of bottled water in the machines is very high - 1.80 Euro (the supermarket across the road sell the same brand for 0.65 Euro and the cheapest is 0.30 euro - worth the short walk!).
The lifts are not very reliable and do not always stop on the floors and you can be waiting for ages. We were only on the 1st floor but had a buggy so often used them.
On our last night there was very heavy rain and we were stuck in the lift for 30 minutes between 2 floors and an engineer had to be called. This was not very pleasant with 2 small children.
Also, the car park flooded, including our hire car (luckily with www.carjet.com fully comprehensive insurance included)! So a word of warning, don't park near the drains as they overflow but the hotel helpfully provided towels to dry it out!
Was very pleased with our stay and will return.

We travelled at the same time last year and found some of the guest's from last year had also returned which was nice to catch up with them again a big hello to Phil and Emma well done Emma for winning two Diploma's.
The food we felt was even better than last year so much choice so much weight to lose.
We still enjoyed the quiet of the resort as a quick train ride takes you to the more lively places if you wish personally I was happy by the pool.
Entertainment well what can I say Kelli is so good at what she does and as she told us she really enjoys it and it shows It was nice to see Anne again who is a really lovely girl. I won the Miss Golden Taurus Park title to which I have continued with at my work place I now have everyone bowing.
The Hotel was spotless cleaners never stopping.
I would love to return again. maybe next year.

The animacion team (reps) were fantastic and during our 2 week stay I felt they took time to talk and chat with everyone. The female reps (Kelli, Anne, and Lorrenna) were all really cool and acted like mates to us teenagers in the group! The male reps (Omar and Oscar) provided many an entertaining moment for us over the two week stay!!there was always something for us to do! They are all a fantastic team of entertainers and I hope that if I return next year they will still be working there!
The nights were good as there was always something on to watch and laugh at or sing along to!!
Anyone who is considering taking young kids with them, the kids zone provided by Thomson is fantastic! They do all sorts of things like have chocolate evenings, mask making nights etc.
The hotel was in a really good position with two towns within walking distance, or if you are too lazy to walk there is the convenient xinou xianou (a tractor type vehicle dressed as a train) to take you there. Calleia was the town about 3/4 of a mile away and it is good for cheap shopping and buying gifts for people.
The hotel is very clean on the whole, although the maid off our floor was quite lazy as the bath mats disappeared on day 3 and didnt seem to return (to both our connecting rooms) which was strange, but overall it was clean.
The food was good for the 1st week as you can work your way around the various different dishes on offer to you, but becomes very boring for the 2nd week as it is all the same things repeated basically. The chinease restraunts in Calleia were very nice and good value for money (nothing like this country!) and the pub/restraunt across the road from the hotel called "Peppe's" does a very nice spaghetti bolagnase and also caters for the weird as they also serve snails and pig trotters. nice.
If you get the chance to, go to Barcelona using the local train (10 mins walk from the hotel) as they are so easy to use. Barcelona is the nicest city I have ever been to, everywhere you look there is something amazing to see.
A visit to the Sagrada Familia is absolutely a must on a visit, as it is the most amazing thing i have ever seen!
I would recommend this area and especially this hotel to anyone who like a holiday to relax on and have things to do when you are bored. It was great!!

The hotel is OK as a base to explore the region.
We enjoyed our stay however as non smokers found the bar area too smokey. You have to queue in this area for the dining room and it is unpleasant to wait for a table because of the smoke.
The restaurant was open until 9pm however eating at 8pm the food although very nice was often cold. The bedrooms were clean but basic with very thin towels in the bathroom.
We would go to Pineda again because of its location to the train station however I think we may try another hotel.

The hotel is spotless and all the staff very helpful. The Restaurant manager who resembles Mr. Burns from the Simpson's was a bit officious but I suppose it is understandable.
We found the bar prices reasonable and the snacks also. There is happy hour (2 for 1 between) 5 and 6 in the afternoon. There are nearby convenience stores which sell cold drinks etc. cheaper than the hotel, and many people seemed to use these and bring them back to the pool.
The food was pretty good buffet style with a wide choice. The omelette's and pancakes which they cook to order at breakfast are particularly nice.
The beach is not really suitable for young children as it shelves steeply but it is directly opposite the hotel and ideal for a cooling stroll.
There is a 'wally trolley' which stops outside and goes into Callela which is very close.
The adult evening entertainment was a little tame ( I hate miming )but the younger kids seemed to enjoy the earlier stuff. Not a lot to do for older teenagers I would have thought unless they want to join in with the adults. Many people had returned lots of times and we also are going to return next year with our grandchildren.
All in all a brilliant holiday but not for anyone wanting loads of night life.

The cleaners were very friendly and done a good job however sometimes they would miss bits out (Like rubbish on the floor) but overall they done a very good job
The food was excellent and i could not fault it, there was som much to choose from. D uring our stay there was a chineese night and a gala evening whohc both were very good. The pancakes and omelettes and breakfeast are a must! The hotel also deals with dietry needs.
The location was Ok but not brilliant. You could walk in to Pineda and Callela very easyly. Callea was a nice town and had alot more shops then Pineda. The market on fridays at Pineda was very good and you can haggle quite a bit!
The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke quite good english. They were helpful in giving advice on what to do etc
The entertainment was good with shows on every night and loads of pool side entertainment.
I would visit the hotel again

Hotel situated for a nice quiet area although short walks would take you to nearer shopping areas with good bargains.
Plenty of room around the pools and area was cleaned regularly at night. Entertainment was brilliant if you could get near enough to watch it( bit packed). I would consider visiting this hotel again.
We needed a doctor after one of my sons passed out and the staff at the hotel and hospital were very quick, polite and helped us straight away thanks.

The staff were just fantastic very helpful at all times the security guard was great very friendly and did a good job keeping some loud teenagers in check.
The head waiter in restaurant was very good. My daughter was not to well and he got her a special tea made and also wrote down the name of a drink to buy to settle her stomach.
Entertainment well what can I say fantastic. Must be the best on Costa Brava and Kelli is just well Im sure she is a bionic woman. I have never seen anyone so fit and she has loads of time for everyone and she has agreat relationship with her team.

| said: This hotel is most suited to families looking for a hotel-based holiday.
There are two main pools and two children's pools as well as an indoor pool and spa. There is a lifeguard on duty for the two main pools. One pool has a café/ bar in the centre reached by a wooden bridge. There are numerous sun beds but they are extremely close to each other. Mattresses can be hired for these on a daily basis for 1.5 euros.
There are two entertainment teams, one from Thompson and one from the hotel itself. Both work non-stop from dawn to dusk. If you want to participate in games and sporting activities or drop the kids into a kids club, then this would suit you fine. However if you want to lie back and soak up the sun the constant announcements over the loud speaker can be somewhat annoying.
The hotel itself is spotless. The rooms are cleaned daily and the bedding and towels changed frequently. There is a drier on the balcony but it would be wise to take pegs. The TVs in the rooms pick up CNN BBC world, euro sport and either ITV or BBC1.
There are notices everywhere saying that food and drink must not be brought in from outside the hotel, hence no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and no fridge to keep drinks cold. Having said that you will see many people with carrier bags from the nearby supermarket, which sells the same water for a third of the price.
The restaurant runs efficiently. Breakfast is served from 7.45 until 10.45 and dinner from 6 until 9. There is no allocation of tables as such but as the evening gets busier you will have to wait to be shown to a free table. The food choices are extremely good even for the fussiest of eaters. Breakfasts can be huge and include freshly cooked to order pancakes and Omelettes. There is every breakfast imaginable and the hotel also caters for special diets e.g. Soya milk and gluten free biscuits available. There are free drinks at breakfast but in the evening even the water has to be purchased.
The hotel has two main bars. One being more for the adults. The centre of the main bar in front of the stage is non smoking but still gets very smokey as does the reception and lounge area. Even the poolside gets smokey at times.
There is a huge well-priced snack bar serving chips, chips and chips with a few other options such as rolls and sandwiches. The staff in the snack bar and restaurant are very friendly and go out of their way to remember you. There is a waiter service around the pools serving drinks and coffee etc.
In the hotel grounds are a play area, gardens, Tennis courts and a small zoo with cooped up birds including a poor peacock with virtually no room to spread its tail feathers. It must be said that the outside is very welcoming clean and tidy
Thomson is the only UK company who uses this hotel. There are many Spanish, Dutch and German holidaymakers. All announcements are made in all the above languages and also Catalan.
Thomson flies their guests into Gerona airport. There is about a 1-hour transfer time but do not be misled by this because on our return it took nearly two hours as we picked up from one resort quite a way a way.
I would have no doubt in recommending this hotel to anyone who doesn’t particularly want to explore but quite happy to stay put. I think it would be ideal for families with small children. I would imagine people in their late teens or early twenties would be bored of an evening as there are very few bars and I cannot remember seeing any clubs

But this year we went 2 weeks later and found the hotel to be alot busier and also that there was alot more German, Dutch and French theer than last year! But they weren't a problem.
Food at the hotel was stil ok but we found it to be alot nicer last year. And we also found that you had to que qiute alot outside the resteraunt if you weren't there for it opening on a evening.
The staff at this hotel are so friendly especially the staff in the snack bar, the entertainers, the thomson reps and the security guard that wes on till 11pm.
The entertainers at this hotel are good they keep everyone entertained allday, this year there was 2 spanish men (Omar and Oscar), and two women called Simoin and Tania.
But there was still Anne and Kelli. Kelli maskes the hotel what it is, it reallly wouldn't be the same with out her she is amazing.
Hotel clealiness is very good and cleaners are working non stop to keep the hotel clean.
This hotel is definetly a must for anybody with children.
even though my children are now in their teens they still really enjoyed it but I doubt we'll go back as it will probably be too quiet there for them next year.

| said: This was my first holiday in two years and the first with my Mum and Dad and my 3 children. On the whole a brilliant hotel very clean and with excellent staff on reception, snack bar and bar.
I had a family suite that was quite spacious although my 5 year old did have to share a double bed with me, my Mum and Dads double room was adaquate but could have done with a little more storage space.
What an entertainment team - the hotels team were brilliant , Kelli never slows down. The Thomson reps were excellent both on the desk and especially in the kids zone.
They were different activities for all ages - good job as mine are 10, 6 and 5. There are two main pools, 2 childrens pools and an indoor pool.
We spent most of the time at the pool by Cocos bar this is supposed to be the quieter pool as there are no activities at this one and in my opinion the best one for kids as it has a small pool and then the large one that the children can walk into, the only draw back is the fact that if you dont get up early enough then the chance of a sun bed is almost nil.
We were queing from around 8 in the morning to stand a chance, there are signs around telling you not to leave towels on bed over night but nobody took any notice of this and to me it was wrong.
Meals were good, pancakes for breakfast were a big hit with the kids and adults, evening meals were ok my Dad is a fussy eater and on a couple of occasions only had chips, we went 3 days with no meat on offer and then had steak, pork and chicken all on the same night.
They have a spanish night, a chinise night and a gala evening, again the only complaint I have are the que's, they were terrible, you had 2 options go early at 6 or later at 8 to miss the rush, if you wanted dinner about 7 as we often did then you were looking at a long wait.
My stood I the que for 35 mins one day and still hadnt moved. I would go back again as everything else makes up for queing, if they sorted out this then I would give this hotel 100%

The hotel was very clean, however in ALL areas it was very smokey, especially the reception area. The rooms were cleaned Daily but the bed linen was only changed once in our fortnight stay. In my opinion the bathroom could have been cleaned better.
I personally didn't like the food served at dinner however I was outnumbered by my family who thought it was excellent, but I did like the breakfast especially the pancakes and chocolate croissants.
With regard to the snack bar the food was nice and resonably priced. During the day we found it best to buy our cold drinks and ice-creams from the nearby supermarket-which nobody seemed to mind us taking into the hotel.
The location of the hotel was a bit "out of the way" but becuase it was right on the beach this made up for it.
While we were away my dad needed a doctor, my mum went to reception, they telephoned a doctor who arrived within half an hour, the receptionist then phoned for a taxi, wrote down the address of a pharmacy, she couldnt have been more helpfull, we were very gratefull. We found the resturant staff very friendly.
The entertainments team were fantastic, they never sat down, Kelli is possibly the most energetic person I've ever met, she is always running round doing something, her and Anne are always somewhere to be found. And Emma from Thomsons was fantastic-always doing some sort of activity.
The evening entertainment was really good, me and my sister particularly liked the Disney and grease show performed by the entertainers team. The Mini-Disco was really good becuase which ever entertainers were dancing they always put in 100% effort, the best leader of the Mini-Disco was Tania becuase she even made the adults get up.
Everytime Omar or Oscar tried to dance it was always entertaining even though during the day they blended into the background.
The queues for dinner were quite long however they moved very quickly, at the most we waited for 10 minutes. We found that there was no need to get up early every morning to put towels down as there were stil beds available at 10 o clock around the main pool.

A great touch for the rooms would be a mini fridge to keep drinks cool but doubt this would happen but here's hoping.Good selection of TV channels in English which are BBC World, CNN, Eurosport you know the usual but they have ITV1 in the rooms too which is handy if you're not up to much and in the room.
The hotel is right on the beach which is accesed via an underpass. The food started off great but went downhill a bit but i'm fussy so i'm sure it's fine for anyone else.
You don't get any drinks provided free with evening meals at all though you can order them and pay as you leave but you do get juice/tea/coffee etc with breakfast. Just a note you'll love the pancakes in the morning a must. The resident hotel staff are great working tirlessly all day for the guests and Kellie is still there as the main one.
Not sure of the others names but there is also a German girl a Dutch guy and a couple of Spanish people too. Did'nt really have much to do with the Thomson staff as we did the holiday DIY and not through them.

The food is excellent it improves year after year, pancakes, salads, loads of fresh fruit daily, full English breakfast. The evening meals are different each night with a gala dinner twice a week, great choice for the kids too.
The location is in the middle of Callela and Pineda, so it is pretty quiet as you are not surrounded, by bars.
The hotel staff are more or less the same each year, they are very friendly, and more than helpful to help you.
The cleanliness is very good they have cleaners all day. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and new towels too. There are washing machines down stairs and tumble driers and a iron.
The entertainment staff are just full of energy and they never stop from morning till night, excellent if you want to be away from bars and clubs, who needs them anyway when you have a hotel as good as this.

The reps on site were possibly the best all-rounders we have ever experienced. Thomson reps were very friendly and always willing to get the children involved, although one or two were not overly knowledgable about the surroundings / transport etc. The Hotel reps were tireless and never seemed to be off duty. The effort they put into their jobs was worthy of a special mention (so here it is!!).
Food always seems to be a contentious issue, but we found the choice to be quite good and varied and of good quality. They provide all the usual kids meals you normally find at 'home' (fish fingers, shaped food, smiley faces etc if that's your thing..)
I would imagine that at the height of summer season, there will be quite a queue at evening meals, but we went early in the season and there were never problems being seated quickly.
2 large pool areas, plenty of seating at each and an indoor heated pool too. Even the on site shop was good value for money for any water toys, boats or li-lo's.
If you're planning on a summer break to spend 'quality time' with the kids, then prepare to be disappointed - there is so much for them to do you might not see them for hours at a time!!
I would gladly recommend this Hotel to any friends with children.
*******
On a separate note - If you are interested in a visit to Barcelona, ditch the organised tours by Thomson which is overpriced and take the local train, just 10 mins walk away, directly to Barcelona central.
They run every 15 mins or so, and are cheap and clean. Adults cost about £5 return and kids under 4 are free - make sure you don't buy a ticket for them!
Once you get to the main station, get on the organised tour bus. Tickets cost about £17 (adults) and are valid all day long for the 3 routes. You simply get on and off when and where you like. It covers all the usual tourist spots and was a great day out and much cheaper than the tour operater's organised coach trip, and of course you can set your own itinery.

Even waved us off on our coach leaving the hotel! I'm 14 years old and I really enjoyed the mini disco and I bought the cd.
My mum complained about the amount of smokers at the hotel and didnt like walking through to get from the reception area to the restaurant as it was so smoky!
The amount of parents who smoked close to their children she also found disgusting. We both thought the food was good. Especially the breakfast. Plenty to fill you up.
Shows at night were good. Can't wait to go back next year and get the entertainers e-mails so i can keep in touch with the entertainment staff. Already e-mailed the hotel to tell them how much i enjoyed my stay there! And pestering my mum to take me back again next year!i'm going to go back every year from now!

| said: The Golden Taurus Park Hotel is fantastic. It should be a 4 star hotel when compared to some other 3 star hotels. It was wonderful coming back to a neat room which was cleaned daily. All areas in the hotel were clean and tidy and the chambermaids were nice, really polite.
Food wise, there is something for everyone but we found that to keep our cuisine exciting, we dotted different restaurants into our timetable, and got good recommendations from staff on where to eat out and sample fantastic Spanish cuisine.
The Location of the hotel was great for our party because it was nice and quiet but only a short ride by coach or train to livelier resorts and so close to Barcelona. Depending on your mood you can have a lazy day at the hotel (which isn't really lazy cos there is so much to do!) or a fun packed day of historical stuff or amusement stuff or shopping! There really is a lot to choose from, use your imagination and you won't go wrong.
Hotel staff are great, smiles all round. A very helpful bunch of people. The Thomson Reps are really great too; we had a good relationship with them. My 3 year old daughter was completely smitten with the tots team, thanks for entertaining her! The entertainment team were fantastic. They put a lot of time and effort into everything they did and we laughed for the whole week we stayed. My daughter danced at the mini disco every night and I had to buy the CD which has been on non-stop since we arrived home.
The daytime activities were excellent. There is something for everyone and all are encouraged to participate. If we didn't get involved we were lazing around watching, which was just as much fun. Watch out girls when Charly and Matt get their kit off, we all agreed, eye candy 100%!!! The evening shows were entertaining and we couldn't help but join in!!!!! Well done everyone!
We are going back next year and I think, as well as other holidays, we will try to get back for a week every year. Excellent holiday enjoyed by all 6 of us age range 3 - 40.

| said: Hello, I returned from the Golden Taurus Park hotel on the 5 October we spent 14 nights there and it was terrific.
It is the first time I have been abroad as I don't like hot weather we decided to go at the end of the summer season. I think we timed it perfectly to match our needs as it wasn't too hot. It was just right for us.
I am a mother of 3 young children (aged 8 months, 2 and 4) so I was slightly hesitant about taking them abroad but there was no problems at all. (Apart from my 2year old son getting travel sick on the flight over) but my husband took care of that as I had my 8 month old daughter on my lap.
Now to the hotel cleanliness, this was of such a high standard I was amazed at how shiny the floors were and how spotlessly clean the pool area was.
The food was delicious as there was something to suit everybody’s needs.
The hotel staff were unbelievably helpful and kind hearted, and the Thomson reps were just as good, they kept my son's amused virtually all day. I’ve even had to buy the mini disco cd for them.
The beach is situated just across the road and is a rather good beach, slightly large drop into the sea but not a lot of people there made it comfortable.
Sunbathing without a bikini top on around the pool is only allowed if you are lying on your stomach as this is a family hotel.
There’s also a little (noddy) train that goes up and down the resort stopping right outside the hotel bar. The kids loved this.
The entertainment at this hotel was excellent there was a large variety of shows or entertainment on every evening and daily entertainment included, football (which my husband got involved with) tennis, archery, water games, table tennis, shuffle board , killer pool, movies, you name it they supplied it.
As for visiting the hotel again I really would loved to but the only problem is whether I can afford it or not.
Fingers crossed I’ll be back next October.
This is a holiday not to be missed for the whole family.
Get booking you will love it.

The food was great, the hotel was lovely with two good sized pools and loads of sun loungers.
We all think that the best thing about the Hotel is the wonderful entertainment team who are fantastic and work so hard, Kelli is just brilliant she has so much energy and time for everyone and made us all feel so welcome. The rest of the team are just as fab especially Mattijn (just happens too be really fit as well). I’m sure we will all be returning.

| said: We arrived home on 2nd October after our 7 day holiday. We were very impressed with most features of the hotel. It is a great hotel for families with children of various ages.
we tended to use the piano bar rather than the family bar because we didn't have any children. Both bars had happy hours at different times 5 - 6 in the main bar, and 1 - 2 am in the piano/cocktail bar.
The entertainment that we did watch in the main bar was good, and the resident entertainers kept the children well occupied.
The only fault I can think of is that due to the amount of people staying in the hotel if you went down to eat too late then sometimes the tables hadn't been cleared from the previous people, we tended to get down early for both meals.
Rooms, public areas and staff were all good and gave us a very memorable holiday.

Food had more than enough choice for everyone and plenty of it although the kids section was a little poor. Hotel staff were excellent, friendly helpful.
The hotel entertainment staff never seemed to go home and were awake 24/7.kelli in particular had more energy than any normal person should have.
Each member of the staff were able to speak at least three languages. Entertainment was excellent and something went on every night in the main bar and live music in the habana bar every couple of days, plus bingo quizzes etc.
The only real gripe we had was that the pool was a bit cold although that didn’t bother the kids, they spent as much time in it as possible. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who was thinking of going to it.

The hotel was very clean (cleaners in everyday) and the food was absolutely lovely.
I liked the shops near the hotel and the beach was nice and just across the road.
I loved going to the mini disco it was great fun dancing and I got the cd.
The hotel staff were great especially Anne, Kelly and Charlie, Charlie was good fun and a great dancer. There was some great shows I loved Charlie dressed up as a lady in the play back show. There were also Spanish dancers on.
The swimming pools were lovely and clubs and dining room great too.
I have been begging my mum to go again next year.

There is entertainment for all ages. The Thompson reps even had day outings. We went to a tour of Barcelona stadium the Nou camp. And the following day we went to see them play against Seville and the view was absolutely incredible even though it was pouring it down.
The reps were all very good my favourites were Matt and Ann. Matt was well funny and Ann was good as well she even chose me to do the limbo. Which my mate Ben was very jealous.
I’m definitely going back here next year and I would recommend it to anyone

We went there in late sept 04 and the weather was fab (not too hot for babys) this hotel is great for familys and elderly couples too.
Our room was facing the sea its was fantastic to wake up in the morning and open the curtains and just sit there and take it all in. The hotel was very clean and safe for children and as a parent I would only settle for the best this is why we are going back July 06.
The food is great but my partner likes his full English but there is a bar 5 mins walking distance and there breakfasts are very good !
Yum yum they also do a mean sunday dinner (a home away from home). we also went to barcelona, port adventure and marine land for the day we really enjoyed it.
The staff are all great and they treat everyone as if youve been going there for years.
The childrens club is great they have so much to do that my daughter never got fed up.
This year when we go back I'm taking my mum and dad and I glad to say we can't wait to go!!!

the weather was excellent.
the food was delicious.
the hotel location was ok but my mam has a severe heart condition and pushing her wheelchair up and town the hill to get to pineda was abit of a nightmare but apart from that it was excellent.
the staff at this hotel are amazing there was 8 of us all together in my party and the ages ranged from 7months to 69 yrs and we were all astounded by the friendliness and care that every member of staff made to ensure our hliday went smoothly i would like to say a special thank you to all members of the entertainments team they are kelli, charlie, mattijne, anne, anna, and little bridget ! and also to the reception staff the waiters n waitresses and the cleaners oh yea and not forgetting the thomson reps especially jenni !
we found the food was of high quality and the dining area was spotlessly clean. the hotel complex was wel catered for our baby and my mum .
the friendships you make with the staff deffinetly do not end when you leave the hotel which i found out when we went there 2 years ago . and we frequently email the hotel staff .
the rooms are of a reasonable size but a very high standars of cleanliness the bathrooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable ...........
a must for everybody . nobody could go to this hotel and make a bad comment it was spectacular ! once you go you will not look back and would probably end up returning for the next 3 years or so !
all i can say now is if you want a holiday that caters and entertains the whole family don't look anywhere e;lse !!!! get booking !!!! and i might end up[ seeing you there next year

| said: Hotel was spotless, cleaners came in every day, clean towels also every day. The food was well prepared but pretty much the same every night. Pancakes for breakfast are well worth a try though! The hotel is just across the road to the beach, which is not very nice (very stony). Staff very friendly, Thompson reps were best we think. The entertainment team worked very hard & put on some really good shows although bingo which is on every night in one bar is also on a Saturday night in the main bar along with karaoke, this is boring for a Saturday night. If you want a good seat you have to get in the bar really early as they have a happy hour between five & six pm, buy one get one free drinks, and people leave their drinks on the front tables to reserve them then go off to have their dinner & some don't return to nearly nine pm & this is wrong we feel, kids also encouraged to sit on seats at front on dance floor & block view. Entertainments team while we were there seemed to have their favourite guests & once these people appeared made a bee line for them & seemed to forget there were other people there & spent all evening dancing & chatting with them at there tables (not all the team did, we would like to say though). The hotel has three pools, two outdoors & one indoors, outdoor ones are great, there are plenty of sun beds and you can normally get one at most times of the day. Parents, however don't bother to supervise their children in the indoor pool & while there are signs up saying children must be supervised by their parents & ball games in there are not allowed these are ignored, we took our eight year old daughter in there & had to leave for fear of having our heads taken of by flying footballs. There is also a sign up saying adults only in the Jacuzzi, but my wife and I could not get in there for unsupervised children using it all of the time. We wouldn't visit this hotel again only for the fact that there wasn't enough for us to do in the evening and we felt that we was tied to the hotel. The hotel in itself was fantastic though and if it were in a livelier resort we would definitely visit again.

The hotel was always very clean and the cleaners came in to clean the rooms each morning.
The food in the restaurant was very good (especially the rice pudding!) with a different selection every night. There were themed nights some nights, Spanish,Mexican,English and Gala dinners.
The hotel is located in between 2 towns, Calella and Pineda. Pineda been the smallest place about 10 minutes away and Calella been bigger with more clubs about 15 minutes away.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly, the receptionnists,waiters/waitresses,cleaners etc.
Now for the entertainment team! They were fantastic! Some years in the past they've not been quite as good but this year i couldn't fault them! Kelli's still amazing, charly's still lovely, Anna still great then the new ones Mattijn,Anne and Kim-all amazing!I'm definatly keeping in touch with Kelli after all these years and Anne!
I'll definatly be back next year and were thinking about going back in october!

| said: The hotel cleanliness was second to none, maids changed our bedclothes everyday, and cleaned room spotlessly.Around the pool was a bit o the dirty side it was cleaned everyday, but cleaner seemed to wash all dirt back into the pool area.Hotel food was very good first couple of days, then became very boreing, breakfast was ok,when will the spanish realise that there is no substitute for danish bacon, and walls sausages.Dinner time the queues were about an hour long, they had to wait for people to vacate their tables before letting others in.The menu was varied but all meats tasted the same, the use same griddle stone to cook pancakes that was used for cooking the meats,im not saying the didnt clean it, but we found as i said tasting all the same.Overall oppinion of the thirteen of us that ate there ,not up to much.W e did have a packed lunch one day as we were visiting e theme park,we asked if we could have something different from salami and cheese sandwiches the head waiter refused.
Hotel location,as they said in the brochure very ,very quiet, one good pub there The Buccaneer, very good welcome, we had a good night there, but then it was all Karaoke the rest of the time. The beach was full of hard sand and large shingle very uncomfortable on the feet, the sea itself was extremly dangerous for kids and adults if you wernt a strong swimmer, promenade doesnt exsist.they havent finished building it yet,the pavements are covered in dog mess,i think every other spaniard has a dog.W e went into Callella on a couple of nights for a meal, its a bustling town with plenty going on,we had a chinese one night, it was excellent, and only came to 14 pound for the two of us,another two nights we went to an indian restaurant {Taj Mahal}if u get a chance and you like indian food go and try it,was excellent, and only cost 16 pound for the two of us.
The hotel staff, well receptionist on main desk were very helpfull, two ladies in particular stood out from the rest,Yolande and Visi, they wrked in the snack bar very helpfull and always had a smile on them, the head barman jose needed a happy tablet, never saw him smile whole time we were there. And not one of them spoke a word of english found comunicating very difficult indeed.
Entertainment,Kelly and Anna stood out from the rest, i have never seen anyone in my life with as much enthusiasam and energy as Kelly, a true proffesional. It was very good kids entertainment from early morning till 11.30 in the evening, adults entertainment was very limitited just the one good show we had Four Tops tribute band, they were excellent. They have a happy hour every evening between 5 and 6,the time that most people are are packing up from the pool,so we found the ideal thing to do was go fetch your drinks for the evening and put them on a table ready for the night, remember to put beer mats on them waiters wouldnt take them away then.
Overall oppinion, excellent family holiday if you have kids up to the age of 15,if your just a couple dont bother it will be to noisey and nothing much to do there.

| said: I have just returned from Taurus Park hotel and i loved it. I went half board which was all i needed to go because breakfast kept me full until tea time, but if i was hungry i would get something from the snack bar. The food was excellent because there was dishes for fussy people and also ones for people who liked to try out new things. They also catered for young children and provided high-chairs.It was all cooked very well and the chefs were really friendly and helpfull. In the morning you could walk straight in, but in the evening, depending on what time you went, you had a 10-20 minute wait.
The hotel room was cleaned extremely well every day by the maids and i never hears of anything being stolen from the rooms, but just in case you could get a safe. The cleanliness by the pool could have been a little better, but it was always cleaned at night.
The location was good because it was about a 5 minute walk to the centre of pineda and a 15 minute walk to Callela, which is worth going for presents as they have a wide range of shops. Although the hotel is next to a rail way, it isn't a bother. i thought it would be at first, but you can hardly hear it and it isn't very often anyway. The beach is just across the way and is really fun too.
The hotel staff are amazing, especially the entertainers, Spanish Charly and Anna, English Kelli, Deutch Kim and Mattijn and German Anne. They are so much fun and totally make your holiday. I am a 13 year old who joined in most of the activities that occured throughout the day so all children are allways busy and having fun. I made 53 friends this year and the entertainers allways made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The waiter jose never smiled once whilest i was there but it was a laugh to see him being grumpy. The security gaurds alfonso and sebastian were really funny as they shouted at you in spanish and we couldn't understand a word....... not that me and my friends were ever naughty!
Entertainment lasted throughout the night, but if you wanted an early night, the noise wasn't heard. Thre were shows and caberat and discos. For the younger ones there was a mini disco but lots of adults joined in too! The entertainment was great. In a playbavk show, the ladies would love it because Mattijn and Charly dance in ONLY a thong, phwoar!
I would defenatley come back to this hotel again and most people i knew cams every year because it's so good. It really does live up to it's super family name because all ages had a really good time.

the hotel food in my opinion is first class . there are enough things on offer to please just about anyone.the breakfast becomes a little monotonous after a few days but there are still options to help overcome this.all in all the food is terrific.
the location of the hotel was fine for us.no busy nightclubs or loud bars too near.the beach just over the road.only a 10 minute walk into Callella where you can shop til you drop. if your going to go to Callella you must visit the chineese restaraunt at the very top ,a few doors along from the mcdonalds! the food in this chineese is absolutely gorgeopus and very reasonably priced.the staff in the hotel are all very good as i said earlier , they try and do whatever they can to help if you need it.
the entertainment staff are second to none ,they keep everyone ticking over with plenty of different activities on offer. the kids reps are also brilliant ,they do such an excellent job and always with a smile. the bar staff are all excellent.the waiters on duty are experts at what they do , especially during busy times.
the entertainment on offer is also very good.having been there 5 times now we have seen a few of the shows before but anyone who hasnt will enjoy the efforts put in by a very very hard working team.one of the things that makes this such an ideal place to go on holiday is the fact that the kids feel safe and secure.we have a 10yr old and a 14yr old and they both enjoy themselves everytime we go.we all know that if the kids are happy then the parents are happy , this is so true.
all in all this hotel is well worth a visit.there is something for everyone and if there isnt well you must be pretty particular in what you want!!! and do remember it is a Superfamily hotel so there are plenty of kids of all ages going about!!!

the evening entertainment was rubbish and i nearly fell asleep of a eveniing watching it .
1 of the male entertainers who i don't wish to name was always surrouded by teenage girls and by the look on his face he loved all the attention , he didn't seem focused on his job .
the best part of my holiday was going home !!!!!!

The hotel is clean and tidy but beware of the cleaning staff coming into to your room early in the morning when you are still in bed. This could have been avoided if "do not disturb "signs were more available. I did see one or two but did not have one is our room. When the rooms were cleaned though the maids did a good job.
The pools are great and cater for all ages and there was never a shortage of sun beds although they were a bit uncomfortable if you didnt either purchase a cushion ( 1 euro per day) or use a lilo on top of them. The snack bar next to the pool was good value for money and the food and drink was varied and prompt.
At dinner times beware of the queues..... Although they seemed long they did go down quite quickly, usually within about 15 minutes. The food is plentiful and of a good quality however the kids thought there could have been a little more to chose from at the "kids zone" Anna, who sits at the entrance, is a credit to the hotel and is always polite and friendly. Breakfast could have been a little more varied as, if I had stayed for a further week, I would have become a little bit bored with the repitition.
Now onto the Reps............. They were by far the most energetic and friendly bunch I have ever come across. They seemed to be on the go from morning till night and nothing was ever too much bother especially for Kelly and Charlie. The entertainment during the day was good ie water polo, volley ball quizz's etc but we were not forced into joining if we did not want to. The entertainment at night was mainly performed by the reps and although they did a great job the holiday would have benefited from a little variety from outside entertainment. The view was not always great if you are sitting in the smoking area.
I would highly recommend th Barcelona trip (football stadium and fountains) It was a great day out. Our guide was Joe who was so knowledgeable about the City it made it so much more interesting however don't expect to get any sleep on the coach as Joe can take for England (or Spain). The fountains were fantastic. A little tip for you..... When you think the music and fountains have finished don't get up to go until the song "Barcelona" comes on a couple of minutes later. You wont want to miss it. Although the view of the fountains is great from high up the sound is not great so I would also suggest sitting close to the fountain. Beware of pick pockets though.
Anyway to sum up. Overall the holiday was great. Although the resort was quiet we didnt get bored (even the seventeen year old) and I would recommend it to anyone in need of a nice relaxing break.

| said: The hotel was lovely, really clean. We had a family room which sleeps 5 comfortably. The maids were in cleaning every day and the room was always left spotless. The food was very nice, if a bit "samey" after 2 weeks. One small critisism - the kids section could have been a bit more varied, but there was always something for everyone. If you go, don't miss the pancakes for breakfast!!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful, as were the Thompson reps. The kids club was very well run and my daughter enjoyed going. The hotel entertainment was very good, but if you are not into that sort of thing it doesn't matter because once you are in your room you can't hear it! There are excursions availale through the reps, but if you want to do your own thing there is no pressure on you to buy their trips.
Overall, an excellent holiday and we would definitely go back!!

the food is excellent.a good choice to suit all tastes.the omlettes for breakfast are a must.
the snack bar food is reasonably priced too.
the hotel is across the road from the beach and about 5mins walk from the shops and pubs of pineda and 20 mins walk from callela although the noddy train goes to both for 2 euros return.there are free buses that stop outside the hotel that go to most attractions.
hotel staff seem to be ok.very friendly with the kids especially the security guard at main entrance at night.
the entertainment is good for the kids.shows after the mini disco are varied and not bad.saturday night is bingo which is boring as they call each number in about 6 different languages and it takes ages.certificate giving is a bit long too and they could do with letting the mini disco go on longer instead.thomson staff are good with the kids.the evening club is handy but you need to sign your kid for it in the afternoon to get a place as it is popular.

| said: This is a lovely clean hotel, the cleaners are always on the go in the public areas. The gardens are very nice. There are five pools in all including one indoors which our children used earlier in the day as they thought the freeform pool was too cold! Plenty of sunbeds and handy having bar in middle of pool - it was nice to sit in the shade with a cold drink. Rooms clean and towels changed every day. Food excellent, especially evening meals, usually a good variety and loved the fresh fruit. Snack bar menu very good. Toilets always clean. Reception and seating area beautiful. The hotel is on main road across from beach and railway line although it never seemed noisy. The evening entertainment was ok, but the entertainment lounge was a bit of a let down - lots of pillars spoiling view of stage. The stage area was a bit on the small side and could have been higher. Last year we went to another superfamily hotel in Salou (The Calypso) and the entertainment was outside at night on a huge stage which could be seen by everyone, and the shows the reps put on every night were excellent. The Grease show at the Calypso was by far superior to the one we saw at the Taurus park.
The Taurus Park is a clean hotel with good food and lovely pools. It is more like a 4* than a 3*. Great for a family holiday. Only let down was the entertainment at night (apart from the tribute band the 4tops who were brilliant). Perhaps if the stage had been bigger the reps would have had more room to show off their talent.

Sergio(One of the chefs) makes the best pancakes in the world, and everything else is always lush, from all of the chefs. What I found that was really nice was the friendliness of everyone, the Entertainers, the Thomson reps, the Chefs, the Waiters/Waitresses and the Receptionists. The Entertainment team were truely excellent for everyone but I found that they were especially good people round about my age(12). Kelli, Charly and Anna were my favourite Entertainers as they never seemed to stop going! Mattijn, Anne and Kim were really good aswell but I knew Kelli, Charly and Anna from the year before. The evening shows were really, really entertaining and were really funny! .I will definately visit this hotel again and I hope that all of the same Entertainers will be there!

| said: This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel, primarily because of its location, just 30 miles from Barcelona. Taurus Park is a very good hotel and amazingly clean. The hotel is situated in nice gardens and the hotel building and public rooms look much better than the 3 star rating, more like 4*.
The staff are superb, very little rules or do's or dont's. ALthough the hotel is a "super family", we travellled in a party of 4 adults and it was fine. 2 superb pools, one a free form with a thatched pool bar in the middle, whilst the other is a huge traditional style pool(both 100% clean) with lifeguards on duty all day and just stacks of loungers (so no need to put the towells out at 5am in the morning). Indoor pool with Jacuzzi as well.
The hotel is aimed at families who want a quiet and safe environment for the kids and it scores 10 out of 10 for this, with its walled gardens, it really feels secure.
Evening entertainment is again aimed at families and it does that well also, however for adults travelling alone, its not so good. There is however a cocktail bar that stays open until 3.30am, with a happy hour between 1am and 2am (Thomas the barman is great). The only entertainment outside the hotel are a handfull of bars about 5 mins walk away, or a 7 euro taxi ride into Callela for a little more life.
The food is self service, with breakfast served between 7.30am and 10.15am, whilst evening meal times are between 6pm and 9pm. Getting a table for breakfast was always fine, but if you go down to dinner a around 6pm, you may have to queue, however 8pm onwards, its just walk straight in. The food itself is self service and was really good, with a huge variety of things on offer for all 3 courses (and of course, you can eat as much as you want). I can reccomend the pancakes for breakfast.
The rooms are ok, if a little "travel Lodgy", whilst the bathrooms are marble, nice and even have a bidet. The balconies are fine and quite large and have their own furniture. They are also quite safe, with large glass partitions stopping the kids jumping off.
You should try this hotel, because you could do a lot lot worse (I know). To sum up, I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends......what more can I say.

The entertainment is second to none and we will be returning in september this year, this will be our 5th time having already booked again for next year. I still am amazed where the entertainments team get their energy from especially Kelli and Charly.
My daughter who is ten is particuarly fond of Anna and keeps in touch with her by text and letter.
The rooms are spotless and the food is great ... so much choice even the fussiest eater would find something they liked I'm sure.
Thanks for a great holiday and will see you in 10 weeks and 6 days {not that we are counting}

Kelly and co. the entertainment team are great. Anna and Jose and all the staff in the restaurant even remembered us from the year before!.
Food excellent - so much choice (you must try the pancakes at breakfast - to die for!). Rooms alway clean and several holiday makers commented on how the cleaners were on the go all day. Nothing too much trouble. Helpful staff and we will miss them in 2005 as we are going elsewhere but will be back in 2006.
You must go there - you'll have a great time. Children cried when we had to leave.

| said: We had a very good week at this hotel and I would certainly recommend it to families, in our group we were aged from 72 right down to 2 years old. I don't think the hotel catered very well for the under threes though. My grandson who is almost two was treated very well by all the staff but the facilities for under 3 years old is limited. The good points were there are plenty of highchairs and food wise it was good and the meals catered for everyone. The kids clubs looked good but you needed to be three and over. There was one small play room for the under fours which consisted of soft mats and pedal cars, this was fine if only a few small ones were playing but anymore than five and it was too crowded. The part which was the most worrying was that the rooms did not lock from the inside, so every night we had to push the case holder up against the door as we were worried little man might wonder out in the night when we were asleep. The entertainment was mainly the same everynight but the kids really enjoyed this and the entertainment gang were very good. Another problem was the amount of smoke everywhere. There was special non smoking areas but it did not make alot of difference as smoke always drifted over. The dining room was smoke free though. There is a snack bar within the hotel and the prices were very reasonable and service good but also a bit smoky. The main reception area was very smoky and ashtrays were not emptied very often. I know I have gone on alot about smoking but I feel as a family hotel it was a bit much, also we had two people with asthma in our group and this restricted places which they could comfortably sit and the entertainment area was a no go area apart from when queueing up at meal times when we had to form a queue in the area. There are plenty of swimming areas and these were kept clean and catered for all ages. Unfortunately the weather was pretty poor but there was plenty to do and with a railway nearby plenty of places to visit, we went to Barcelona twice and the adult fare was 5.5 euros return and well worth the visit. Whilst in Barcelona we took a tour bus which had a blue route and a red route, this stopped at all the attractions and cost 16 euros which included a book full of discounts for most attractions.

| said: The hotel cleanliness cannot be faulted as was the staff and Thompson reps but the location leaves a lot to be desired.
When we went they were re tarmacing the road out the front and the tunnel to the beach was also impassable so you had to walk to the station to get to the beach which is about 15-20 mins walk away.
The work started at about 7am so no lie-ins there, and as for getting an early night (say about 11pm) no chance because when the other guests came back from the club they were singing and children screaming, chairs being dragged around the floors and lots of raised voices all this at 3am most nights.
If you werent down for dinner when the doors opened then you were more than likely to have to wait in a queue for up to half an hour, and once when we had been out for the day, when we got back at about 8.30pm most of the food had gone. when we went to penada town they were all closed till 5.30pm. The jacuzzi would have been nice but children were left to run wild while parents enjoyed themselves else where.
We were so dissapointed with the holiday that we returned home after 4 days at a cost of £156.00 to ourselves and a loss of 144 euros because we booked port adventura for the sunday but we went home on saturday afternoon (non-refundable) total cost;------holiday cost.....£858.00 3 adults and 1 infant flight back home.£156.00 "" "" "" port/adv.........£100.00Apx "" "" "" stolen ..........£225.00 pick/pockets at barcelona total............£1339.00 Not bad eh ? for 4 days holiday ..not forgetting spending money for travel to get to somewhere interesting and food and taxis so the question now is "Will we be going back to Taurus Park Penada" what do you think????????

The hotel food was excellent (especially the puddings!) and there was always such a huge choice and you could have as much as you liked (needless to say I put on lots of weight!)The location I feel could have been better as it was about 10/15 minute walk into Pineda but then again I was grateful for the chance to walk of at least some of the food! There was quite alot of building and construction going on but I think that is everywhere in Spain at the moment, things get started and never finished! There was a lovely beach right oppisite the hotel and it was lovely waking up in the morning and standing on the balcony watching the sea. The hotel was a 15 minute walk from the train station and the fares were so cheap, but beware not many of the train staff speak English so take your phrase books along! If you can handle the hussle then I would strongly recommend that you go into Barcelona by train as it is so much cheaper than the ones you book. I can not fault the actual hotel staff especially the waitresses and waiters as they totally idolised my son and lavished him in so much attention and really made him feel welcome, they were so so friendly and accomodating. The entertainment was varied and the beginning of the night was more or less the same, doing party dances etc etc and Kelli was absolutely amazing she has so much energy I don't know where she gets it from and she totally makes the entertainment team without her it would be nothing. She never left any child out and always made a big effort to include everyone, she is an absolute asset to the hotel! I probably would visit the hotel again. But it was far too smokey. As A smoker myself I always smoke outside and away from children and would never dream of smoking near my son, but in the hotel you can smoke EVERYWHERE except main dining room and as a family based hotel I would have thought they could have made some resrictions, I hated walking around with my son getting smoked on and I feel that there should be some more non-smoking areas. Apart from that a fab holiday(weather could have been better!) And Again Kelli was great as i'm sure you will find out!

I was worried that we may have trouble coping but it was easy. The staff are helpful, the entertainment is good for the kids (I prefer a good club myself but hey, this is not Ibiza).
I got acquainted with the lady who lost her purse in Barcelona and it was pure bad luck. Possibly soured the holiday for them a bit but we thought it was great. Weather wasn't great and they were completing a major facelift for the seafront and the playa. Looked like they were going to finish within a few weeks and the whole area would probably be much more lively. The hotel is situated 10 minutes walk form the centre of Pineda with a 25 minute walk the other way to the next town. I though it was great, quieter than the centre of Benidorm whilst still having plenty to do.
Overall I could recommend this if you have kids. If you don't and you are looking for a nice quiet couples holiday then don't bother - it isn't what you are looking for.

My daughter loved the hotel club with Anna in charge. The mini disco was great every night at 9pm, starting off with the conga!! We bought the cd to take home, its driving me mad!!
The pool was excellent, if not cold. Great for kids. They bought loads of inflatables and dove right in!!
The indoor pool was good too, but would get busy if it was bad weather.
Our room was perfect, it was cleaned every day, spotless. We had the 2 rooms together with a double bathroom so very spacious even with us 5 in it.
The food was great, may get a bit boring after a week , but was all cooked properely etc, I must have put on a stone at least after the cooked breakfast and pancakes every morning.
You could also get a packed lunch for any trips.
We visited marineworld while there, and Barcelona Zoo, and the football place. We also took a train and bus ride to Lloret de mar.
Overall we enjoyed the holiday, but as said in previous posts, there is not much in the immediate vicinty. The beach is a shingle one, with sea that dips deeply. Not great for kids, even though there were lots there when we visited.
It did rain a few times, so we took part in the hotel run competitions with Charli, Kelly etc. We did pool, shuffleboard, football, quizzes etc, but did not win once but it helped pass the time away.
They sell english papers, books etc at reception, and they also have 2 internet computers so you can check emails, and browse the net etc.
They also have a glass lift that goes up outside the hotel and its 8 floors, which the kids had to go up and down 5 times a day.

| said: We stayed at this wonderful hotel in September on a half board basis. The food couldnt have been better. There was a huge choice for breakfast and dinner. The hotel was so clean. Our room was cleaned every day and the towels get changed as often as you require.
The location for us was excellent and because we went in September it wasnt too busy either, it was a nice relaxed pace.
Hotel staff were excellent and very very helpful. My daughter cut her foot on some glass by the outside pool table, i rushed her straight inside to the reception and they put out a call for the first aider immediately and he was there in like 10 seconds. Immediately after sorting her foot out they went straight outside to the pool table where she had cut her foot and scoured every inch of the area to make sure there was no more glass.
What can i say about the entertainment, except that you wont get bored with it. Nothing is repwated the second week. My daughter fell in love with charly and still keeps in touch with him now. The friendships you make with the entertainment team dont end when you leave the hotel, theyve always got the time to stay in touch even after the holiday.
We will definately visit this hotel again, but not this year , as we have already booked our holiday and we are staying in another golden hotel in salou. We just hope that it will be as good as this one. As for the ages of my children, they are 9,9,13,and 16 and they all had a fab time and all want to come back again, even the teenagers had a fab time and believe me, they are very hard to please.

There is so much to do inside and out the hotel, mini golf, bike hire, indoor and outdoor pools, pool tables and a mini arcade. Nearby the hotel there is a train station, which actually is reasonably quiet. Which can take you to Barcelona in about an hour, the "noddy train" which runs along the sea front can take you around pineda, Which is also VERY handy. The hotel's food is absolutley delicious without ANY doubt. With a HUGE range of foods for breakfast and dinner even a childrens area has more simple foods, they even made pancakes in the morning with a range of sauces to put ontop! They had some theme nights with foods from than country and fabulous decoration to go with the theme (but they also kept on the basic foods incase anyone wasnt keen on that nationality's foods). We experienced gala night, mexican, british, italian, french and german all through the time of 2 weeks (the length of our stay) hotel cleanliness was spectacular our sheets were changed every other day, Our towels changed every day and the floor mopped and even the balconys scrubbed until they gleamed in the sun! Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful especially the receptionists and anna, we also felt very welcome because of jose's friendliness! I would MOST DEFINATELY visit this hotel! it was a holiday that i will remember for the rest of my life! So if your looking for a fun family holiday then golden taurus park is the place the be enjoy!

The hotel has a vast amount of activities available throughout the day, for people of any age! At nightime, live performances can be seen in the main bar, whilst activities such as bingo and family quizzes happen in the cocktail bar!
I would like to state that this hotel is a SUPERFAMILY hotel, therefore noise is to be expected....
And as for the statement saying that Pineda is simply a building site, I disagree.. I came back from this hotel around 2 weeks ago, and I have already booked to go back next year with a friend..
Obvioulsy, I am a 16yr old girl, who is interested in different aspects of the hotel.. But I did travel with older, and younger family members, who all found this holiday enjoyable!
I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE!!!
I had a spectacular time!
The food is exceptional, with varieties of themed nights ranging from Mexican and Italian, to Gala!
THIS HOTEL IS NOT TO BE MISSED!
And girls, the entertainment team are GORGEOUS, lol! Especially Charly!! Mwahh, Missin him loads, lol.
Honestly though, the hotel is of high standards and I would recommend it to absolutley anybody!
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GET BOOKING NOW!!!!

| said: We travelled in July 2003 to the Taurus Park and to be honest weren't sure about the hotel when we arrived. The following morning we looked around and thought it was fantastic. We had a family room over looking the sea and the pool and found the room to be spacious and well maintained with maid service every day. We especially liked the seperate room for the kids which made our room great for some peace and quite and an afternoon siesta.
The food was good with a good selection and there is a chef who cooks on hotplates to ensure fresh food is prepared for the guests.
The location of the hotel is a 15 minute walk from Pineda along a recently developed beach side walkway with subway underpasses to reach it. If you don't fancy a walk then the local 'noddy train' runs along the sea front from directly outside the hotel. The hotel is a 1 hour rail journey from Barcelona which worked out at around £9 for the four of use return, and the trains run to a very strict timetable and are seldom late.
The staff were excellent snd courteous and in my opinion couldn't seem to do enough for us.
Entertainment is varied in the main bar but there is a seperate bar where nightly quizzes take place and bingo.
I would recomend this hotel 100% to the family looking for a great holiday with something to do for all the family.
The only negative was that you needed to stand in line sometimes for up to an hour and half to get a sunbed or at least the sunbed you wanted until the doors to the pool area were open. Although we brits are polite when standing in line there are other nationalities who prefer to queue jump, sometimes causing a problem and friction between holiday makers shall we say.
The positives far outway the single negative - go for it and have a fantastic holiday at the Taurus Park.

The hotel is very friendly and excellently run and we had a lovely family suite which overlooked the pool and the beach. The entertainment for both children and adults is excellent and each evening you didn't need to go elsewhere.
The food in the Restaurant is excellent and with a varied variety and there is also a good choice of snacks, etc. during the day in the snack bar.
The beach isn't that good for children as pebbles into the sea, but as the hotel and pools are excellent we didn't need the beach!
Anyway who stays here will have an excellent time - enjoy it!

| said: We stayed at the Hotel Taurus Park in May 2003 and can honestly say this is the best holiday we have ever had. We had a holiday two years previously in Portugal which was the worst holiday we have ever been on so you can image we were a little worried as to what this holiday would be like. We did not need to worry. Hotel was fabulous and spotlessly clean. We had one problem when the shower from the room above us leaked onto our bathroom floor. But one call to reception and a few minutes later a manager was there with a chamber maid was also with him complete with a big pile of freshly laundered towels and a mop and bucket. Food was fantastic (those pancakes at breakfast were to die for!!!). Entertainment brilliant especially Debbie, Mel, Crete and not forgetting Dave!!!. My children had such a great time that the eldest was crying with the reps before we left. We loved it so much we are going back again in June 2004. Nothing is too much trouble and they made you feel really welcome. Pool was so clean and there is plenty of choice on the menu (either in the restaurant or the snack bar (which stays open until 3am). Lovely relaxing holiday and cannot wait to go back in June. Go there!!!! My eldest still keeps in touch by post to the reps. Looking forward to seeing them again.

the staff are great and if you have been before you will remember Kelli the entertainer yes she is still there, she makes your holiday a special one when you keep coming back.
To be truthfull, when we first came the hotel was in the middle of nowhere but now theres alot more shops and it is away from the bars, so when you go to bed you dont get the noise, and when you take children you have two kids clubs thomsons, and the hotel kids club which twice a week they take them until 11.30 pm, we go with thomsons every year, but now we are getting bored with the flight which is in the middle of the night, so we are going by club cantabrica coach company we will be going on the ferry and through france which we have never done. the taurus park is the one to go.

The hotel is 10 min walk from the town centre, so it is very quiet, which is great if you have kids, its away from the noise, there is three english bars within 2 min walk. the food is lovely they have theme nights 3 times a week and you can just help yourself, theres a childrens section at their level so they can help themselves. The staff are well what can I say we have been here 8 times in 6 yrs, twice in some years. all the staff are friendly the entertainment staff are just lovely, they do entertainment from 10am until 1am they only have there dinner and maybe 1.5 hrs rest through the day.try it once if you have kids you won't be dissapointed.

| said: The hotel itself was nice, very noisy cause it was a super family holiday and there was a lot of kids.
It was very clean had two single beds and a double we had a view over the pool and could see the sea.
I went with my 3 year old son and he lived on sausage for 4 days we were supposed to have been there for 7 days but came home.
If u weren,t there when the doors opened for food you wouldnt get a big choice.
we went out to the police station cause i had my purse pinched in barcelona and when we got back to the hotel at 8.30pm there was no food left just rice with fish in it.
1 night i sat and ate 3 small pieces of crusty bread cause the food was mainly fish left and i dont like fish my son had some chips.
Hotel location was complete rubbish. There was nothing to do around there at all, the only good place close by was the Buccineer pub english bar, it served great meals. if u wanted to go anywhere u had to go on train watch ur bags... thats where mines was taken from.
The entertainment in the hotel was ok, same stuff each night it was mainly for kids and after 9 other hotels usually put something on for adults eg:flamingo dancers but here it started with childrens dances but i enjoyed that cant complain really.
The hotel staff were great i had to talk to one girl about my purse being taken and she said the form i needed was in catalan language so she said she would do it for me they were really helpful u had to pay for a deposit on everything u had tho... if u wanted to use ur phone in the room u had to pay 20euro deposit which i dont agree with but still rules are rules
..... would i visit this hotel again ...... no way if u have children and when they get woken up they dont go back to sleep dont go here cause the noise is real bad we might have enjoyed it if there was anythin by the hotel to do a few shops but all closed. lost a lot of money on this

facilities are excellent. The rooms are large, plenty
of hanging space, TV and good bathrooms with hair
dryer etc.
There are four large pools with a number of small
ones and childrens pools. A small zoo, and large
gardens.
The entertainment is quite good and the childrens reps and entertainment is excellent.
The dining room is a bit chaotic at times and the
choices are limited, usual Spanish hotel food.
There is a nice piano bar for adults only later in
the evening and a good snack bar.

I loved the theme nights in which they made a variety of food from one particular country, however some nights you did have to que up for about 20min to get your food.
The beach is just across the road and it is amazing, you could stay there all day (like me).
The location of the hotel isn't brilliant, however you can catch the very funky bus into the main shopping area.
The hotel entertainment wasn't for me but it did keep my little sister entertained, we found a pub called PEPPERS which is excellent, the owners are english and they know how much we all love are football and showed live matches everyother day which didn't fault my dad and brother. When we went it was the end of the season and was very quiet but the weather was still fantastic.
i would definatly recomend it to anyone.

The hotel is brilliant, you cannot fault it. The entertainers were all friendly and the pools (inside and out) were great as was the food.
The problem is the location. It is empty and this is the only hotel there. There's almost nothing to do outside so you're stuck in the hotel. On top of that, the beach is not very attractive.
We had poor weather which made matters worse, although obviously that's no one's fault!
So if you're looking for a lively resort I'd say stay well clear but if you want a quiet place then I definately recommend the hotel.

Thompsons and hotel's own entertainment team were always enthusiastic and professional, they put on lots of games and sports in the day, and shows etc in the evening. Under 12 had thier own club and seemed to have a great time. Being a big hotel the were many things to do, but not many like our 13-18 year olds staying here, and not so many things for them. However we had a great time, enjoyed to outdoor pools and always found pleanty to do. We enjoyed the food and felt there was a good choice for my teenagers, and the other children around seemed to find lots they liked from the bufet. Don't worry about the train and road nearby, they are quiet, not busy and well shielded by bushes. Pineda is pleasant modern small town geared to the tourist, used by families of all nationalities. Good transport links to other larger towns. Good organised trips from the hotel, we enjoyed dolphins at Marineland, also sailing/snorkling trip. All in all, a great family holiday with lots to do in a large well run hotel.
