Just back from a week in Gumbet staying in the Ayaz Aqua.

We flew with Onur Airlines and that was the first problem, the airplane was so small and squashed. There was no TV or even headphones for music, the staff only came out with the trolleys for 20 mins twice inside 4 hours, they stood in behind curtains at the front of the plane the rest of the time and didn't allow passengers to use toilets at front so instead had to go up the back of plane.

We then got on a minibus for what was supposed to be 40 mins transfer time instead was 1hr 40 mins.

At arriving at hotel first impressions where great. Lovely pool and great location right beside beach, however it was surrounding by flowers and shubbery, which didn't help the hayfever. We also got bitten several times walking through the shubbery every night to get to Bar Street, so take plenty of bite creams.

We then went down for breakfast that morning and was all salads, cheese and breads, no cereals or fry.

Then we had snacks which as far as we were aware it was to be chips, burgers, toasties, etc but no snacks or should I say snack was chips and toast with salami.

Then for lunch and dinner it was the same salad stuff with spicy sausage, meatballs and barley which I thought was rice but nope. Also some coloured stuff which looked like pasta, and bbq'd fish and other funny stuff which i wasn't willing to try. We asked for chips and they said no they where only avaliable at snack times. So the food was just a no go for us.

The staff were great very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was clean, clean towels every day however sheets weren't changed. We had to ask for them to be changed after 3 nights.

The hotel was mainly all Dutch, Germans, French or Spanish. There was only one other English speaking couple other than ourselves. It wasn't very child friendly either, as the other hotels all seemed to have big water slides etc.

No entertainment whatsoever.

This was a lovely hotel. It was really clean with the cleaners coming in every morning without fail - and i would know because i was coming in at about 6 every morning and kept getting woken up by them!!!!! All credit must go to them though because they didnt stop working - morning and night. I really felt for them. It was in a really nice location - all the restaurants and bars were easily reachable. The three shops which made me laugh the most - Asda price, Turkish primark and Planet yucca (planet hollywood to us!)Entertainment was good - the turkish night was the best. The only thing which i didnt like about this hotel was the fact that JD and Ahmet (who were really nice at the beginning) totally swithched when we didnt go out with them. I didnt think that they were being very fair about that. But being fair, they do work long hours and were really entertaining. Swimming pool was excellent, took about ten minutes to get from one end to the other and thats me being a good swimmer!!!! Overall, this was the best holiday that Iv had. Truly amazing - cant wait to go back next year!!!!!!!!

Ayaz Aqua was fantastic will definately go back J.D and Ahmet were great fun they create a great atmosphere at the appartments, the place was very clean, certainly no signs of any rats. We were made very welcome, it is a great location right by the beach and close enough to bars without being noisy. Best swimming pool in Gumbet. J.D and Ahmet quite often go out after the bar closes and will take any guests who want to go and they will look after you. Highly recommended would go back tomorrow. Look out for our t-shirt hung up at the bar.

Well when we finaly arrived at our hotel after waiting at the airport 6 hours for the plane to arrive, we were very surprised at how nice the hotel looked from the outside, flowers draped all over each balcony, the large very noticable pool, and the bar of course!

Thats what we were looking for most, we arrived at the hotel at about 2am, had our bags taken up to our room for us, even tho two were still missing but they were soon recovered by first choice.

We headed down to the bar which the very lovely J.D made us all cocktails even tho they were 'supposed' to be closed. Upon waking, we stepped out on to the balcony and realised how wonderful the whole place looked.

Whatever people tell you about this place saying its not nice that was years ago, now its lovely. The hotel is suited for people of all ages, familys, couples, friends! all the hotel staff are soo friendly, especially J.D, Ahmed and the younger one out the lot Dashu.

They all love to have a laugh with all the guests. J.D loves dancing, me J.D and my boyfriend went out with him and he knows how to party!

Our rep from first choice was wicked, she was such a laugh, it was her first year but she did so well you would never have believed it!! so thanks Joni.

Arrived at this hotel late sunday night the apartment we were shown was below standard after phoning the Thompson rep we where given a better room.

The cleanliness of the apartments is not very good, there was no hot water only in the evening at about7.30pm.

The entertainment was pretty poor we where forced to buy 2 tickets for a barbecue which was unsatisfactory I would stay in gumbet again as i had a lovely holiday but i wont be going back to the ayaz aqua apartmenta

The cleanliness could have been a bit better. The staff didn't really change the towels as much as we would have prefered and they never really cleaned the floors until they were quite dirty.

We were self catering but the pool bar served nice enough food to keep you going until your meal out. The location of the hotel was spot on we were right in the middle off everything and it was literally a 1 minute dander to the beach and 5 minutes up the dirt track took us into the centre of Gumbet Town.

The hotel staff were really nice and loads of fun!!! Tanju, J.D, and Ahmet who worked at the bar were all brilliant and were always up for a laugh we all lost count how many times we got chucked in the pool clothes and all
( they didn't care!!! ) and they never hestitated to come and say hi.

The hotel entertainment was ok. The first week we went to the bbq and the turkish night but they weren't anything special so we didn't go again!!

Me and my girlfriend went to Ayaz Aqua in August 2006, I found the apartments clean, and very convenient to all the local ameneties( bars).

The staff were very friendly, we had great craic with ahmet, J.D and Tanju. We partied with them at night and played football with them a couple of times.

Would definitely go back 10 out of 10!

I stayed in Ayaz Aqua in August 2005 for two weeks, when I arrived in the early hours of Monday morning I found the hotel and the layout of the room very nice.

I found the cleaning standards very poor in deed the floor of my apartment was always dirty even though they where cleaned everyday. I also was not happy because one night my friend and I where sleeping and was awoke by a large bang, we saw that the ceiling over the kitchen had falling down and a rat was climbing in to the clothes cupboard which really scared us.

All the staff at the hotel are really friendly especially the bar staff Ahmet, JD and Tanja, which are great fun. You have to watch out for Ahmet as he loves to chuck people in the pool and pick you up and throw you and himself in the pool at the same time.

I found the Location of the hotel ok it was a good 15 minutes walk into town for the bars Me and My friend who are both 18 years old found the bars really good especially the Mystery Bar the staff there are great.

The entertainment On the Thursday night, which is Turkish night, is really good and on the Tuesday night is barbeque night didn’t go to that.

I would love to visit this hotel again as the staff are great and made me feel at home but i will only go back once I know they have got rid of the rats!

We arrived back 2wks ago from Ayaz Aqua studios. It was the worst holiday we have ever had and we certainly will never return to the studios.

On two occasions there were rats in both our apartments. We have a lovely video of our furry friends. The hotel staff were not at all worried about rats being in our rooms. The first time they were seen in one of our rooms they moved us to another room. One hour later they had put a new family into that same room we had just left in which the rat had been killed.

The next time the rats were in our food cupboard we were changed hotels. But by then my wife had been ill for six days after the first rat appeared. The rats were getting into the apartment through outside cupboards they were full of rat droppings. During the time at this hotel we were also woken in the night by drunk youths who flashed at my wife and were seen urinating in the pool.

Turkey is a lovely place to visit. The people are very friendly but never would we again stay at the Ayaz Aqua studios. A holiday without furry friends sharing your apartment is what we wouldve liked.

Hello
Well we have just come back yesterday and we have just been looking at prices to go back next year.

We had a fantastic holiday at this hotel and it was so nice to go to a small hotel this year where we met so many nice people.

While we were at the hotel someone in the first week found a rat in there room, and we found some rat dropping outside one of the store cupboards. We took some photos to show the rep and we went down and seen the manager. That day heath and saftey visited the hotel, then rat men went into every room of the hotel and put poison down etc. Everything was then cleaned etc.

We found that this was dealt with very quickly and nothing was heard about rats after that. I spoke to our rep and she told me that it was something that hadnt happened before at the hotel and it was an isolated incident. She asked me if i wasnt to move hotels but i didnt want to (even though i hate rats!)

We found the hotel was clean and the maid came to our room everyday. The pool is the main attraction of the hotel and it was fab. really big pool very clean.

For us the staff really made the holiday they could not do enough for us and no matter what time of day they were there. Yes they played music everynight and really went out of their way so we enjoyed the night even if there were not many in the bar. The bar staff, JD, Ahmet and Tanju were fab. The music never bothered us once in our room.

Over all we had a great holiday and all the people we met at the hotel were having a great time. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel and our rep who was fantastic for making it such a great honeymoon. We will be recommending this hotel and going back again.

The hotel is well presented with an excellent pool. All staff were friendly and professional but the standard of cleanliness in our room was very poor despite cleaning staff attending daily.

In the two weeks we spent at Ayaz Aqua the floors were never cleaned . The floors were dirty to the extent that we had to keep shoes on when in the appartment. Also , the smell in the bathroom was probably the worst we have experienced.

We spent very little time at the pool as the sunloungers are so close together that you are litterally touching the arm of the person next to you.

Our apartment, like most of them, was opposite the bar area . At night the music gets louder and even at 03:00hrs with nobody in the bar the music volume is excessive.

The location of the hotel was good as it is very close to a lovely beach (approx 100m) and we walked to Bitez in 40 minutes (with a pram).

The resort centre is 10 to 15 minutes walk away which was good.

In summary , with a little more effort this could be an excellent hotel.

We just got back from a great 2 weeks at the Ayaz Aqua Studios.

We got to the studios at about 3am, porters immediately took our cases to our rooms. Even at that time of the morning, the pool area, gardens and studios looked just stunning, obviously very well designed and well maintained.

The studios are not big, but there was ample room for all of our things, plenty wardrobe hanging space and drawers, a long dressing table shelf with huge mirror (and an electric socket right next to it) and 2 other tables as well as the bedside shelves, so plenty of available space to clutter up with holiday potions and lotions.

A huge bonus in the studios is that they all have a bath and shower (very handy for little ones who are used to baths instead of showers), with shower screen, and another big mirror over the sink in the bathroom. Smallish balcony with a view over the pool area, but still big enough for table and 2 chairs.

The kitchen area is basically a sink, fridge, couple of cupboards (with enough utensils for cooking if you feel the urge) kettle, and one electric ring. Everything clean and tidy.

Housekeeping called into the rooms every day, tidied up, mopped the floors, cleaned the mirrors, and made the beds (complete with intricate designs with the towels and flowers every day).

The hotel cleaning and maintenance staff seemed to work all day and night, tending the flowers in the gardens around the pool etc.

We didn't spend a lot of time around the studios, but as a base they were great.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar stayed open as long as there were customers for it, always someone at reception too. You can get snacks, breakfast etc at the bar area of the studios, and there is a little minimarket just outside, where you can get all your self catering essentials, and I didn't find it expensive.

The pool is fantastic at the Ayaz Aqua, a free form pool with shallow and deep ends, which winds all the way along the front of the 5 small studio blocks. There is also a fine childrens pool. Unfortunately, in May the water in the pool was absolutely freezing! But in the height of the summer it would be heaven jumping in that pool to cool off.

The studios have a Turkish night every Friday (along with almost every establishment in Gumbet I reckon) and although we never went to it, it certainly looked very professional, extra chefs came in to prepare the Turkish buffet, and they have traditional dancers and live music.

The only thing that lets the Ayaz Aqua studios down a bit is its location - its at the bottom of the hill leading out of Gumbet over into Bitez. It's a good 10-minute walk from the studios to the start of the main shopping and restaurant areas of Gumbet, another 5 minutes to Bar Street. There is a great beach just 100 yards walk from the studios, with a lovely wooden pier jutting out into the clear blue sea, with sunbeds and turfed steps leading down into the water.

The area around the studios is still being developed, and I think within the next 2 years or so it will be really lovely. Having said that, it is on the main dolmus (minibus) route into the centre of Gumbet and on to Bodrum, alternatively it only costs about 4ytl (less than £2) for a taxi right into the centre of Gumbet.

I was really pleased we chose the Ayaz Aqua for our holiday to Gumbet this year.
