| said: This was a last min booking, not cheap, my Wife and I and two 4 year olds all paying £580.00 each for one week.
Appartment very small, old and dated, very depressing to be in. so we wernt very much! Children sleeping on a sofa with the bottom sliding out to provide another concrete matress.
Carry on camping with the tin kettle on a hot ring! if you want a toaster thats 11 euros to hire.
Resort 90% for Dutch tourists although they were very nice.
The kids club was great for the little ones providing you were Dutch! our children were not permited to take part in the activities. This is awful to explain to a child when a clown appears who will not aknowledge them as they were not wearing the correct T shirt.
Lots of shaddy areas to keep the sun off the children, overal facilities good for the children appart from the kids club!
Evening entertainment absolutly appauling.
Bar facilities need demolishing, in fact the entire appartment complex could really do with a major makeover.
most staff were polite.
Beach stunning.
Outside the complex......not much at all.
Would most definatly not return, we had a great fun week nevertheless but thank goodness it was only a week.
Sorry if I am causing anyone to worry.
By the way, our uk tour opperator listed this place as 3 star accomodation so we expected reasonable comfort, this translates to 2 keys in Menorca so beware.

| said: The apartment's were set in a lovely pine forest which made the rooms quite dark at times. However this was not a problem as most the time was spent round the pool area.
As we went at the beginning of the season we more or less had the pool and surrounding areas to ourselves which made it lovely and peaceful.
Even though the trees do make the whole complex shady you could still sunbathe around the pool most of the day, just by following the sun around.
Or you could sunbathe on the sandy area behind the pool bar or take the 5 min walk to the beach. Contrary to other reports we did not find the supermarket on the complex to be expensive, in fact many items were cheaper than the other spar shop on "the strip".
There was no evening entertainment, think this was due to being start of season but you could go across the road to the sister hotel.
We did not do this so cannot comment on it. We tried the buffet breakfast on the first morning for Eur 6, but hasten to add we did not go back again.
The hot food did not look at all appetising, in fact its the first time I have ever seen sausages in water!!

| said: My family and I stayed in an apartment in Son Parc. There were 5 of us altogether which ment one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed. The place was clean and the room was cleaned every two days.
The beds were quite comfortable, bathrooms were clean and refreshing, although kitchen was very poor. For the two weeks we stayed the lightbulbs and toaster broke, we reported this and they were sorted out within an hour or two.
The area is nice to look at but it is shaded quite alot due to the trees. The food at the BBQ was expensive but it was nice. Entertainment was poor for children aged between 11-16, there isn't alot to do for them.Young children would have a great time because there are clubs and mini disco's at night, adults have good entertainment in the evenings.
The staff are polite and speak good English, especially the receptionists. There is a big problem with the ants, meaning we couldn't open some of the windows due to them coming into the rooms.

| said: My family have just returned from a ten night break at Confortel Son Park.
Unfortunately I was rather disappointed with the apartments. I knew it was set in a pine forest what I didn't realise is that you never knew if it was day or night in the room!
My eldest child wanted to have a swim in the pool even he wasn't daring enough and brave the icy water, the toddler pool was no warmer either, though I am not surprised as the whole pool ares are covered with pine trees hence no sun all year round!
The room itself was basic but clean when we arrived although they were sort of cleaned our sheets were only changed twice in ten days so we spent most nights shaking the sand out of them before we went to bed. The balcony was never swept whist we were there and towards the end there was more sand on it than on the beach!
As we went at nearly the end of season the entertainment was useless and three acts that should have been on never turned up. I was informed by the hotels children's entertainer that this was because there wasn't enough people to participate, charming!
I won't be going back!

| said: All the previous comments relating to this hotel are pretty accurate: freezing cold pool, trees obscuring most of the sunlight, ant infestation, uncomfortable beds in the lounge etc. But on the plus side this was an extremely family-friendly and relaxing place to stay but definitely off-limits for party animals. There was a nice mixture of Brits, Spaniards, Italians and Germans plus the usual chavs and tattoed pond life. Rumour has it the Germans have now bought it out. First Choice were out-bid and won't be there in 2006.
Distinctly average food-wise unless you're into scoffing burgers, chips and beer every day (which many people are sadly). The restaurants out on 'the strip' fared little better with below-average paella and meat dishes. However well worth a visit is Fornells just a few miles away by bus or car which boasts a number of top-notch fish restaurants. A superb family meal with wine would set you back just 60 Euros.
Nightly entertainment at the hotel was quite good particularly from the hotel's kiddy-friendly entertainers. We bought the mini disco CD and had a good old singalong in the car on the way home from the airport!!
A lot of people were moaning about how pricey things were. A guy told me how incensed he was paying £3.50 for a pint of Strongbow. Here's my tip: buy imported British stuff like this and it will cost you an arm and a leg. Buy local Spanish produce instead - it's much cheaper, and in many cases better. I saw people shelling out nearly 4 euros for Tropicana orange juice when Don Simon Spanish orange juice was a quarter of the price - and just as good! Likewise a bottle of Spanish Cruzcampo beer in the bar cost 2 euros, compared with 3.50 for Foster's or 4.80 for a pint. Just because a company has a multi-million pound advertising budget doesn't mean their products are better! Don't be brainwashed! Cruzcampo/San Miguel are smooth, strong beers and more than a match for Stella and Carling. Anyway, when in Rome and all that..
Resort enterainment was virtually non-existent apart from bouncy castles and tarmpolines for the kids. The beach was outstanding though, perfect for kids and not too overcrowded. Don't expect your holiday in the Menorca to be wall-to-wall sunshine either. Over two weeks we had two overcast days and three rainy days including a violent storm! 7cms of rain fell in a day when the average for August is 1.5cm! Yes, this was in August!! We never would have dreamt the weather back home would be better than in Menorca but it was on this occasion! Will probably give the Balearics a miss next year in favour of somewhere with guaranteed daily sun.

| said: If you have young children and want a straightforward, fairly quiet beach-and-pool based holiday then Confortel Sol Parc should fit the bill quite well. I went with my 5 year old daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We travelled with First Choice and their Kids Club reps were excellent - my daughter enjoyed at least two separate two hour sessions every day where the reps properly and actively kept the kids entertained with fun and games based around a different theme every day.
The complex is set in the middle of a pine forest meaning that whole swathes (including the pool area) were in the shade for most of the day. Fine if you're paranoid about skin cancer but if you're a sun-worshipper you'll need to head for the beach.
The shade means that the pool, even at the height of summer varies in temperature from "only-just-warm-enough" to "Yikes that's cold!"
As well as the main pool there's a toddlers pool, basic sports facilities (volleyball nets etc), and a couple of children's play areas.
There's a couple of bars / eating places, a supermarket, and a souvenir shop.
Apartments are basic but perfectly adequate, and like the rest of the complex are clean and well maintained.
Our brochure described the complex as being located "beach-front". Erm, yeah, well on one of its boundaries the complex ends where the sand starts, so I suppose that's technically true. However, its a big complex and you've got a fair old trek across the dunes to get to the sea. If your apartment is at the wrong end of the complex, and you are laden with inflatables and beach towels, with young children in tow it'll take a full 15 minutes from closing your apartment door to dipping your toes in the Med. Its well worth it when you get there though - the beach is absolutely wonderful. Its clean, safe, and not too crowded even at the height of summer.
In summary then, Sol Parc is a clean, well-maintained complex fulfilling all the basic requirements, ideal for a family with young children.

| said: We went to the Confortel Hotel for 1 week in July and I was a bit apprehensive because I have never been in Peak season before with my two young children, but I need not have worried because Son Parc is ideal for young families as it is not rowdy at all and everything shuts about 11.30pm.
The Hotel is very basic and quite dated but very clean as the maid came every other day with clean towels. We were upstairs and felt like we were in the trees due to the Pine Forest.
The only complaint I have about being upstairs is that there are no lifts and therefore you have to carry prams etc upstairs which is not brilliant when your child is asleep.
I thought the Pine trees were fine as they provided shelter when you came out off the hot sun and we saw staff everyday sweeping the pine needles up. The balcony that we had was quite large and the bedroom was not too bad a size.
There is a fan in the bedroom but to be honest this just circulated warm air and did nothing to cool us down, but you can hire more fans etc from reception. There is a fridge, hob, microwave and toaster in your room. There is no electric kettle but a small one that you boil on the hob which we managed with. The bathroom was very dated but clean and the shower was very powerful.
We never went around the pool as it was quite small and cold and the beach was handy. There is a walkway down to the beach which about a five minute walk going and 10 coming back!
The only problem is that half of the walkway collapsed three weeks ago and they had still not fixed it therefore half way you have to walk through the sand dune which is very hard work with a pram and coming back up hill. The beach was great and I felt very safe with my children as the water was very shallow for ages and the beach was not too large so you could keep an eye on them. When you walk down the walkway (when mended!) suggest you go right as they sea there is better and there are no rocks going into the sea.
My kids loved the complex as there were plenty of kids about and they made friends straightaway. The entertainment that they put on for the kids is excellent and they loved the mini disco. My two year old used to wake in the morning and wanted to dance again on the stage! The entertainment was also good a few of the nights for the adults.
The strip was very near by and we ate there a few nights. There are numerous bouncy castles etc here for the kids which you can easily watch whilst you have a drink. We would definitely return to Son Parc but unfortunely not to Confortel next year as we were told on numerous occasions that this has been bought out by the Germans who are turning it into an all inclusive next year.

| said: We have jusy returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We were allocated on arrival ,so a bit worried where we might end up.
We were delighted with our accommodation. Rooms are a bit dated, but had everything you need, even a fan in the bedroom. Pool area is very shaded, which is good for young children, but not so good for sunbathing.
The beach is just a short walk over the sand dunes. The beach is beautiful and the sea is very safe for children.Entertainment was good. Kool and the Gang,Tom Jones and an African band. Something on every night. Games are played all day,if you want to join in,Archery, pistol shooting, basketball etc.
Not much to do outside of hotel. We hired a car,and saw nearly all of the island. The walk from the hotel to Arenal is a bit of a trek, but well worth it for the view over the cliffs.
Would highly recommend this hotel. Only complaint we had was the beds in the living room were not very comfortable.

| said: We have stayed at these apartments 3 times and found them on all occasions to be well kept and very clean although in need of jazzing up a bit. Everything we needed was supplied except a kettle and iron. Maid service was spot on towels changed beds made etc. The large veranda was only swept about 4 times in our 2 week visit, but not a problem.
We ate a few times at the sol parc but preferred to try different places. The food was good if a little pricey. Bar and Waiting on staff could not be faulted.
The pool is very cold because of the pine trees but that didn't deter the kids as we were usually out around the island all day and just came back late afternoon for a quick dip and to get ready for the night ahead.
Plenty to do during the day if you stay on site Archery, Rifle shooting bouls, football, water polo etc. The entertainment was alright for the kids and kept them occupied while we chilled out after a long day. Usual holiday stuff tribute bands magicians comedians parrots on bikes.

My mother had to sleep on the wee pull out bed though in the living area and found it uncomfortable sometimes.
We tried the BBQ on our first night which was nice. The Hotel location is ok, we hired a car for 2 days to get a change of scenery, Mahon Market on a Saturday Morning was great and only took 20 mins to drive there.
The Hotel Staff are friendly and nice. The girls who do the Entertaining are great and listening to their accents are brill. My wee girls loved the mini disco.

| said: Just got back from a fantastic week, we wasn't disappointed at all, we had a great location, great views, paying the little extra for the sea views are well worth it.
The staff are friendly and helpful, we never spoken spainish before, but now we know alittle with the staff's help.
Beaches around the area are great, very sandy and clean, and the sea is as blue as topas, great for snorkling, even if not snorkling you can stlll see the fish swimming around you.
The strip is much more better value the local spar, and car rentals (visit the one near the end, cheapest)Sagatios is very good value for money, you can get a 3 course meal for only 8.10(euros)and a good choice menu for it too.
The kids around the area, seemed to be having a very good time, alround entertainment for them and competitions.
If you like great views then you will love this place, and much go to Le Torro, you can see nearly all the island from up there (and its free)

| said: Beware these apartments are not on the beach front as described in the First Choice brochure. There is a bit of trek from the pool area to the beach. It is all down hill and a slatted path that then goes onto the beach, but at the end of the day, it was a bit of a slog and the path was steeper that it first appears. As you get to the beach and turn left there is a beach bar that does excellent food. The waiters are very friendly and helpful.
The apartment itself was very clean and tidy, we noted that for only two people staying there, they had given us six toilet rolls, were they trying to tell is something. As it was, no!!!
The entertainment at night left a lot to the imagination. They started with a kids disco, which consisted of 'The Music Man', 'Agadoo' and 'Superman', however, one night the First Choice children’s reps got up on stage, and their versions of each song, were more amusing than the resident children’s entertainer. They seem to be enjoying themselves as much as the children.
The BBQ restaurant never appealed to us, as the menu was pricier than the choice of restaurants on 'The Strip'.
Back in the apartment, they only give you one pillow per person, which to some is a bit too low. All you do in ring reception tell them your room number, and within the hour they turn up with another pillow.
There is no kettle as such in the room, you can either heat up your water in the microwave (no instructions for use) or on the hob, using the kettle in the cupboard, which to get to work you have to switch the timer on first. It takes forever, so I suggest if you want a cup first thing in the morning, get up and least half an hour before and put the ring on. However, on speaking to another couple you can get an electric kettle from reception, for a small deposit.
The television had hundreds of channels, I could only find 2 English channels, Sky News and Fox which showed programmers like X Files, Simpson’s, Fururma, Angel and Nikita. I did get into a programme called Las Vegas with James Caan, but that’s another issue.
There was phone in the room, and my husband wanted to ring his son as it was his 21st. We followed the instructions that were given to you when you checked in, it appeared at first that we were doing it wrong, as we kept getting the engaged tone, however, my husband went to reception to ask what the problem was with making a call, only to find out that now you cannot make calls from your room, it would have been nice to have been told, so my husband used the pay phone in reception and kept on filling it with euro after euro.
The hotel supermarket is much much more expensive than the Spar on the strip, be warned, just because it says Spar it is not connected to any other Spar in the report. There was a shop there that sold lilos, Lladro and all your souvenirs, again, more expensive there than on the strip.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel complex which goes to Mahon. Useful if you're into that sort of thing.

| said: Had a great holiday. Lovely beach. Kids had a great time in the kids' club - huge room. We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment. These were like small houses - much bigger than anything we've ever been given before. Room and hotel grounds kept very clean by friendly staff. Kids club entertainment was enjoyed by the kids, the hotel evening entertainment was best avoided.
Some points to be aware of but none of them ruined our holiday:
Hotel pool is very shaded, especially the kids pool. This is great for the health of the childeren but can get a bit chilly if they are at the age where you have to stay near the pool watching them.
The walk to the beach is 'not far' but seems like miles on the way back with tired young children. Some of the path is on wooden boards but around 60 yards is not. This is hard work when pulling a pram through the sand (uphill on way back)!
2 bed apartments have staircases. There is a stairgate at the top - but not at the bottom.

| said: We have just retuned fron an excellent stay at Sol Parc.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the maids kept everything very clean.
The entertaimnent staff worked very hard to keep the children occupied although our 12 year old son prefered to entertain himself with a friend he made at the resort.
There are fans in the bedroom and you can hire a fan for the lounge, although we took one with us.
The money exchange at the hotel was at a favourable rate so there is no need to go to the banks.
We bought sun umbrellas in the local shops for less than the hotel hire charges. Most people do this then pass them on to other people at the end of the holiday, so you might be lucky.
Swimming pool can be a little cold but children don't seem to mind.
The sea is much warmer and just a short walk through the sand dunes, definatly well worth the effort.
Food is availble on site.
If possible hire a car via avis before you go, we booked ours through the tour operator for £120, for a week, whilst at the resort the same car was being quoted at £200 for the same period. Avis have a rep in the hotel so you pick the car up there.

| said: Hi I am 14 and have jst got back (12/7/04) from confortel sol parc! only one word for it! FANTASTIC
The complex is really big with lots to do! We stayed in room no.57, the pool was directly in front of us so we could go for a swim then just hop over the balcony, so were the pool tables and the table tennis tables. There was a swing park which was to the right off us and also like alittle gym thing and so were the volleyball nets. The multi sports court were just about a 100m walk and the main entertainment was just a short walk away.
The complex pool is really nice a bit cold though but you soon warm up. I wasn't really sure about this as on other reviews it said it was shaded by big tree's. That is a load off RUBBISH! it is beautiful, 2-3 tree's around the pool which dont even cover it!
The complex have a lot of kids clubs for all ages! they do lots of different things which are really good, they also have a teenagers club, called wavelength for 9-16 year olds. I went to that and it was brill! they took us to a waterpark on the saturday and that was good and they take us down to the beach to play games, It wasnt like a little kids club it was grown up and really good.
During the day 2 people come round gathering kids to play all sorts of games, to win a lollypop and to recieve a certificate on the evening.
The complex bar, souvenir shop, supermarket and restaurant/take-away were o.k, a bit expensive though. For a cone of chips it was about £2.50!
From what I read about the complex entertainment I really didnt want to go! But it was also AMAZING! Whilst we were there they had 'the four tops', a music quiz then an amazing ballet show,a profeesional irish dance called 'Lord of the dance', a karoke, etc...for the kids there was a mini-disco everynight before the main entertainment which the reps did.
All in all I would give it 10/10! the complex was VERY well maintained and always clean, and I would recommend it to anyone!

There is more about the resort and beach on the resort review.
The shops are only a short walk about 200m or less from the complex and the spar there is incredibly cheap, 8p for a bottle of water it was. If you have yound children then when you come to the shops if you go up the stairs and go right past all the bars and to the end there is a bar and outside it has a huge bouncy castle, a jungle bungle and trampolines which cost 3 euro for your children to go on, and they can stay on it for as long as they like.
There are not very many shops but of what there are they are good.
We found a little place where you are on top of a cliff and you can see the other town on the other side and all the sea it is really amazing! When we walked out of the hotel we walked up the street turned left and carried on walking then turned right, about 50metres in front of us there were two small boulders, we walked between them and walked about 3 metres or so and the view is WOW! it really is breath taking! We took lots of pictures. You can see basically the whole Island.
From the complex, if you walk to the far end of the complex byu the playground and volleyball nets(near swimming pool)you walk down a lovely little path to the beach which is about a 200m walk but it only feels like a few footsteps and the beach if gorgeous! Beautiful white sand and the sea was amazing. When you first walked into the water there were a few stones but after that it was just sand. It was also incredibly safe. It was shallow then a tiny bit deeper and after walking out 50m or so it was still only up to your knees, so its superb for young children. The first day we arrived there the sea was really calm, and it was throughout the next few days but on the friday there were Really big waves, about 1 metre above your head, which was really fun, The rep said that sometimes they do get big waves but these waves were caused by a tornado hitting the middle of the mediteranen. The sea is also really warm.
All in all it was AMAZING! we wanted to stay for 2 weeks but unfortnately you had to have booked it when you booked the actual holiday. We are returning next year or in AUgust this year!
When you fly over menorca make sure you look out of the window, the island looks like a really big rock in the sea.

| said: we stayed at the confortel in sep last year , the maids did a great job infact its the best hotel ive been to for cleanliness. The food in the place was lovely the bbq was fab i recommend the sirloin steak if you go!
I was cautious about the location before i got there but i thought it was lovely , not too lively and you dont have to worry about young yobs making too much noise. The beach was fantastic the water was so clean and being see through it gave me peace of mind. The staff were great and Issac made the holiday great fun always trying to make you laugh whenever you saw him. The clubs for the kids are great always busy and keeps them occupied for a couple of hrs while you have a rest.

| said: The apartments are situated in a quiet area with a few shops bars/restaurants.
The apartments were clean and functional and surrounded by pine trees. A pleasant walk to a wonderful beach.
The hotel staff were always friendly and the small entertainments staff were excellent.
As regular travellers fed up with over commercialised resorts we found the Confortel Sol Parc a refreshing change.

| said: These self catering apartments are in a pine forest close to the beach. The apartment we were were in overlooked the car park among the trees and was opposite the pubs and clubs. It was very noisy until the early hours of the morning and I would not recommend it to anyone with small children! Didn't see much of the staff so I can't comment. The apartment was clean and comfortable with an electric fan in the bedroom. A small tv and a phone that didn't work.

| said: Room was pleasant, but got ant problem which reception dealt with straight away. Cleaned regularly through the week. A large complex with families of cats living within the grounds. The complex is within a pine forest which shaded us from most of the sun for half the day. Many pine needles fell into the pool during the day - but cleaned twice a day. Became human pincushion once when gust of wind blew lots of needles out of trees whilst sunbathing (OUCH!). Kids didn't bother with kids club as hotel entertainment was brilliant. Isaac and crew entertained adults and children all day and evening. Special shows in the evening giving variety - all good. Although the complex was old and a bit dated looking - the experience of staff made it an enjoyable holiday (no-one wet behind the ears). Only thing that would make me think about going again is the pine trees and needles.
