The rooms are basic but clean, I shared with a friend and had 3 beds for 2 people and a very large room.
There was a good choice of food from around the pool to the hotel bar and the Egyptian night buffet was great.
Location meant a short walk into town but this was not a problem and the Egyptians here are so friendly, lovely people that you don't get harrassed like I have been in Cairo.
Staff were lovely, very friendly and the dive school which I did my Open water cert at were brilliant, a good laugh.
Entertainment was a little lacking but then again we spent most nights in Naama bay were there is so much to choose from. I'm planning my next visit in 7 weeks time so guess this speaks volumes...

| said: The Ocean Bay hotel itself was well situated, just away from the main streets but close enough to walk each evening.
The breakfast was Ok if you like continental type meals, I preferred the extra half hour in bed?
The rooms were basic but clean, and lets face it, we dont go away for the sleeping arrangements!
All the staff were very helpfull and friendly with a great deal of effort going into the towel arrangements!
Entertainment was fine with a choice of drinking / eating areas.
The dive school was well situated right by the pool at the back of the complex.
All in all a good base for all things.

| said: Being from Egyptian heritage i have visted Egypt and Sharm on numerous occassions with my family i decided it was time for me to go with friends as i did in july of this year...after the attacks on sharm me and my sister decided to take the opportunity and support sharm by visiting again only 1 week after we had come back...we found an amazing deal for £300 each for 12 nights b&b at the ocean bay hotel.
We were very suprised to see that all guests in the hotel were british...FINALLY! we could talk to people! as it was just the 2 of us we were quite happy with this arrangement! unfortunetly saying this...we found that the hotel was completly lacking any sort of Egyptian culture. Some might appreciate this and want to go on holiday from the UK to what i saw was the UK with sun!
Rooms were not great but then it was a three star hotel so i wasnt expecting much but i did atleat expect a mini fridge in the room as it is so hot in august and drinking hot water was really unpleasant. i had abit of trouble with the cleaner as he kept knocking on the door at early hours of the morning i would tell him to come back first in english and then a few times in arabic he seemed to never hear me and one time he opened the door whilst i had just come out of the shower. as i went to complain to the reception about this problem it seemed that the cleaner got to him first! thankfully they were very understanding and i arranged with the cleaner not to clean my room or knock on the door until i tell him too.
In my opinion all the egyptian staff were great with all of their guests. i wasnt too happy with any of the british staff there though....i found alot of them rude and extremely ignorant...some where also extremely nosey not just on a friendly tip.
The irish bar was ok just like being in one of the pubs over here! we played pool there alot of the time the staff there i would have to say were the nicest people. not pervy at all... it also has a quiz night and karaoke if u like that sort of thing!
Location was excellent right in the heart of naama bay.
on the whole if your not going to stay in your hotel for the majority of the time its a good and cheap place to stay but if you do like sitting in the hotel or are going as a family with children i really wouldnt recommend it. Personally i would not go back there again purely for the fact that i have stayed in various of the hotels in naama bay and this had to be the worst...i would always come to visit the Irish bar though :)

| said: This is only our second holiday together as a couple and we were over the moon with sharm and the ocean bay hotel !!!!
The staff were brilliant, friendly (often a bit pervy, but totally harmless) and very helpful, also with a good grasp of the English language.
The cleaner was very polite and thorough, with an amazing ability to make anything out of towels, from crocodiles to little men sunbathing !!! And he even left us a thankyou note when we were leaving so please tip him on your departure as hes a lovley man !!
There is an excursion office outside the hotel if you need any advice, with English reps in it.
We did not experience any of the weird policies as mentioned by another man on this site !!
The pool was lovely but again very deep even in the shallow parts, but the whole pool area was very pretty. But a bit of advice, dont walk on the tiles without flip flops on, you can really burn your feet !!
Also the Irish bar on the hotel complex was really good with karaoke and other entertainment, also Mohammed behind the bar treats everyone like his best friend, hes really nice, waiting on you hand and foot !!
The food is amazingly cheap, with meals at local restaurants so cheap you will fall off your chair, with a meal at pizza hut with 4 drinks costing as little as £4 ( 40 Egyptian) and the variety in china house on the main strip is very good, we visited twice!
And you have GOT TO bargain with the shop owners, dont be shy, they wont be !!
All in all the people were lovely, the food was too, the weather wouldn't be matched anywere and Sharm is a lovely place, we will certainly be going back again this year !!
A dream holiday. And remember that the average wage in sharm is £50 English pounds per month, so do tip and dont be offended by the locals asking for tips !!
We spend more on beer than they get per month !!

| said: The hotel was nice, well secure, and the room was large if a bit spartan, howevcer the air con was fantastic!
The hotel staff were the only problem, well on the positive side you have great characters like Mo and his red polo shirted colleagues who are cheerful and friendly, sometimes a bit too friendly, but it was all good, the cleaners are a cheerful friendly nice sort and its nice to come back to a spotless room with towels arranged into animal and heart shapes! Great touch that puts a smile on your face!
The pool is HOT during the summer and I'd rather go to Kanabesh beach - a hotel beach this hotels provides tickets for. The pool is built for divers so is very deep, but its clean and theres a good bar!
The souvenir shop has most things and even have a variety of gem stones which you can choose and have made to measure rings pendents etc made from, and the shop staff especially the young placid and extremely friendly chap called ahmed !
He also will paint artabic or hieroglyph calligraphy for you - anything you want - on papyrus!
The ONLY PROBLEMS was the absurd policy that your NOT allowed to bring your own bottle of water even into your room (but I just did so anyway, as one of the security guards was as good as gold and smiled turning a blind eye to crisps and drink).
And the OTHER PROBLEM is the absurd policy of not being allowed to bring a guest into your room, not even for a visit during the day! This is pathetic!! The recpetionists were a bit pompous and smarmy and total jobs worths and these niggly bits let the whole place down!
Imagine a female you've met the night before coming to your room during the Day and your room phone ringing with the receptionist telling you to ask the guest to wait in the lobby - when there is NOT ONE piece of info or rule anywhere which states NO GUESTS!
This ruined my holiday as a single man I wasn't able to really enjoy myself!
On the pluds side the Irish bar was fairly good, the food was great, and on Tuesday they had an Egyptian night and the entertainments were brillinat! - especially the whirling dervish - amazing!
Every evening they'll have a Mongolian Barbecue which has great choice and is delicious - cooked on a huge barbecue thing by Wahil, a lovely chap!

| said: Paid £214 for flights and a weeks B&B at the Ocean Bay hotel and thought it was good value for money.
We flew with Atraeus airlines and at check-in at Manchester were offered extra leg room seats free of charge which was nice (and helped make up for the fact that there was no in flight entertainment!)
The hotel is in a good location just a few minutes walk up a slight incline from the centre of Naama Bay.
The check in was quick and efficient and our cases were carried up to our 2nd floor room. The room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the (mainly quiet) main road into the centre. It was very clean, quite spacious with 2 single beds, a wardrobe, dressing table, TV with 5 English channels and free air conditioning (with temps of 32-39 degrees at night, air con. is a necessity not a luxury!)
The bathroom was quite large with a shower cubicle, window, loo and sink with mirror and again very clean.
The plumbing could be a bit erratic sometimes, (the water pressure in the shower kept rising and falling) and the loo did need fixing a couple of times but when we reported the problems to management they had it repaired quickly.
The room was cleaned and towels changed every day by a cheery young man who used to arrange the towels etc. into various animal and bird shapes.
The hotel was very clean throughout but because they were always polishing etc. it did tend to make the marble floors/stairs quite slippery especially if you had wet feet or had consumed a few bottles of Sakara so care was needed! I didn't notice any lifts.
We were very impressed with the delicious buffet breakfasts which always consisted of 2/3 choices of hot food along with the usual continental style cereals, juice, bread, rolls, jams, croissants, cheese, meat, fruit, salad etc-there was even a toaster! The waiters were friendly enough and would remove your plate quickly when you had finished your meal and were always on hand to top up your cups of freshly brewed tea and coffee.
The pool area was nice and got the sun all day and there were plenty of free sun-beds and towels provided (no having to get up at 6am to bag a sunbed)
A word of warning though the pool did not seem suitable for young children or non swimmers as it is also used by divers for practice and is very deep in places -even the shallow end is quite deep! (The divers were not a problem and were always careful to avoid bathers).
There was a pool bar serving drinks and snacks-the food was very good, generous portions and very reasonably priced. The music was a bit loud sometimes but we tended to stay at the deep end which was furthest away from the bar. (I have to apologize to anyone going and staying around the pool as I let the barman keep a couple of my CD's he liked of 'pool bar music' which included some feel-good Summery tunes but unfortunately also included Las Ketchup and the Fast Food Rockers-sorry, sorry, sorry!)
There is an Irish Bar called Shenanigans on site which is a good chilled out place (popular with the diving crowd)to have a drink and snack-they have satellite TV and a pool table and the occasional quiz/karaoke night and live band -the prices are the same as the pool bar and cheaper than most places in the resort centre.
All in all we liked the Ocean Bay Hotel and its staff and would definitely stay there again if returning to Sharm.

| said: The Ocean Bay was a lovely hotel. Very clean and the staff were very friendly.
Reps very available most of the days and very helpful. They made some phone calls for me to find out which bar had the football on.....
There is some building around the hotel but we did not find it any problem.
The taxi rank was noisier as they toot at everybody hoping you may want a taxi and the diving people were a little noisy, going out early.
Lovely breakfast, buffet style and they also did meals later in the day which were good.
Pool side bar and food was also great. Towels were supplied for the pool also.
There is an Irish bar attached to the hotel which had entertainment, football and did food which again is very good

Rooms were fine, pool nice.
Right near the town, but this does not affect your stay what so-ever.
Definitely recommend this hotel.
I preferred the three minute walk into town to sample the many restaurants than be stuck in an all-inclusive

| said: The Ocean Bay was basic but perfectly satisfactory.
I’m not a big fan of hotel entertainment so was very well suited to this hotel as they don't provide any. However, our room was right next to where the bin men came every day (at 6.30 am) and their truck made a terrible racket. The Rep for the hotel said we could move if we wanted but we couldn't be bothered to move all our stuff so stayed put. The other issue was that our room (at the side of the hotel) over looked a building site which didn't seem to have anyone doing anything on it but wasn't exactly picturesque. Obviously there will be disruptions during the days when they do start up again. The cleaning staff were round very early but would go away again till you said they could come back.
Aside from the building site, the location was good as it was about a minute to the main area of Naama bay. However, you needed to walk past the whole taxi rank which got a bit tedious as every single driver would ask you if you wanted a taxi, even though they had already heard you say no to 6 drivers previously.
The pool was small but adequate and brilliantly heated. They were in the process of building a pool bar which will add to things, but waiters walked around regularly asking if you wanted stuff.
Only downside was that there was no strip of beach for the hotel as it was not on beachfront and some places charged over the odds for the beach

| said: This is a good basic hotel. Only does B&B and there is only one restaurant but the food is very good and reasonably priced. There is no pool bar but it looks like they are building one.
The location is excellent - only about 5 mins walk into main resort. There is a bit of noise from the Diving school compressors if you happen to be in a room above where they are situated , we asked to be moved and we were with no hassle but it may be a different story in the summer when they are full!
The hotel staff were all extremely helpful and the rooms were cleaned thouroughly (they were knocking on the door at 8.30am wanting to come in and clean the rooms!)
There is no entertainment and the bar in reception is very basic but there is a good bar next door - The Beiruit Bar who also do very good food.
We only paid £250 each for this holiday so were more than happy with everything.
All the beaches are private and the hotel obviously does not have one of it's own and charges £2 per person to use another hotel's beach.
I think this is mainly a Divers hotel but would still recommend it unless you have kids when there is not much to do in the hotel except swim in the pool.
