| said: Hubby & i Arrived at hotel 4.30am to be greeted by 2 male reception arrived at our holding cell which consisted of 2 single beds the toilet needed a good clean the balcony overlooked the corner of bar street a partial sea view & views of airconditioning units.I was very unhappy but as too tired to confront reception so slept till 8am asked reception to change room to a clean double with sea view which i paid for.The male receptionist stared at my chest & asked why u want double room? an sniggered i replied because my husband had paid for double & showed him the invoice & told him not to be so insulting soon wiped the smirk off his face. Was shown to a seaview overlooking pool with double bed, the toilet was cleaner, still a standard room you couldnt swing cat in but we accepted it. This day was the start of a good holiday. Plenty to eat at the Dining hall not too busy all fresh & hot, dissapointed with sweet selection seemed to be sponge soaked in syrup or swiss roll types with cream.
The weather : i expected t to be a bit cloudy possible rain wich it was from day one out of our 7 days we had about 2 days of no sun the rest cloudy.
Our 1st day we booked to visit the Turkish bath over in Bodrum way cant remember the name but it was the best turkish bath i have ever had, very professional , welcoming, expalined everything we were going to get w also had full body oil massage which should only have been 30 mins but i got extra 30 mins absolutely fanastic. The cost of TB was £10 each & Massage £20 each.
I wouldnt come back to this hotel only because we have 3 young kids & would never holiday without them again, also they would be bored to tears as theres not much for kids to do.

| said: My fiance and I have just returned from this hotel only yesterday.
There is very little we can add to what the previous reviewer said about the hotel. He covered everything in his review really well and is very accurate in all he has stated.
The people of Turkey, as usual, are particurly friendly and is why we have been coming to Turkey for the past 10 years.
The hotel management are very accommodating if you have a problem.
We did.... we booked a Deluxe room rather than just the standard room, as the standard rooms we were shown were very basic to say the least, although they were clean and the maid came every day to provide fresh towels and to clean the room.
We were given room 1125, which is a deluxe room with wonderful views of the pool and the sea.
All was well until we discovered on our first night that this room backs onto a 'fun-pub' which is just over the back wall from this room and the VERY LOUD music went on until 3am every morning.
It was my 50th birthday while we stayed here and so Im getting to that age where I like my earlier nights and this room didnt allow you to sleep.
Its a pity that the best rooms are located near the noisiest bars.
We asked to be moved the next day to a quiet room which was sorted by the hotel reception.
This was my only complaint about this hotel and it seems churlish to say its a complaint, as to be fair, its more of a comment to let anyone thinking of staying at the hotel to expect some noise, and if you are a light sleeper as I am, you may well be kept awake.
It is no exageration to state that in the deluxe room where we spent the 1 night, it honestly feels as though the 'fun-pub' music is actually being played in your room.
Apart from this one detail, we would recommend this hotel as the location is excellent for the beach and bars and I would have marked the location higher had it not been for the noise at night.
If you are younger and not an old 'fuddy duddy' as I am now, you will love it as there are some great bars nearby, playing great music.

| said: Really nice and clean hotel. Staff really helpful and friendly. We we're lucky and was given a luxury room when we had only booked a standard room, we had a jucuzzi bath in the room. The hotel food was really nice with so much to choose from. The location of the hotel is fantastic but only if you like nightlife, some older people we're complaining about the noise. If you walk out the front of the hotel there are all the bars and at the back of the hotel is the beach and some more quieter bars. I would definately go back to this hotel. Im returning to Gumbet in Aug 2010 with the girls but unfortuatey this hotel doesnt have rooms for 4 people so we've had to stay at a different hotel near by.

| said: I really was not looking forward to this holiday as I love Icmeler and decided to try Gumbet mainly because of this hotel and the excellent reviews.
I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have stayed in in Turkey over the last 20 years.
We arrived about 2am after a very quick flight from the UK.(3hrs 50mins)
Check in was swift and we were given AI type bracelets to wear? This is because the hotel is situated on the beach and anyone could enter the dining room and eat.
The room we were allocated was beautiful.Everything was brand new and we were the first occupants this year.
We were tired but could hear a noise that we thought was the fridge.Next morning after a sleepless night we opened the curtains and realised the noise was coming from the huge extractor fan on the roof of the kitchens a few feet away from the window.
Reluctantly we asked to be moved even though the room had a garden, pool and sea view. This room had a double bed,TV and a shower room with hair dryer. There were complimentary toiletries. The balconies were small but had enough room for 2 chairs and a table.
We were given a ground floor room overlooking the beautiful gardens which were like a botanical garden, coplete with a family of tortoises!
The dining room was large but was in sections so it didnt feel like a canteen. There was also a large outdoor dining area overlooking the sea.
There were cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cheeses, tomatoes and cucumber along with omelets, fried eggs, sausages and lovely bread.
Dinner was served at 7pm when we first arrived and was moved to 7.30pm then 8pm the second week. This is to late for families with small children and adults like us who are not used to eating this late. This is the only fault.
There was soup,a vast salad bar and 2 stations serving meat and vegetables which we were told were grown in the hotels own organic farm.
The desserts were to die for and the highlight for a lot of people was that there were 2 huge bowls of fresh strawberries every night!
We certainly ate our share and maybe thats why we didnt put on any weight as Slimming World say they are a slimming food!
Drinks had to be bought in the dining room and we bought a large bottle of water ,1.5lt,for 4 TL.every night.
There are 4 bars on site, the Cozzy bar which holds the entertainment on an evening in a large round building with large white sofas around the edge. There is Dennys steak house where guests we offered a 20% discount. The Ladybird bar did lunches,as did the Carmedia bar.All these are situated on the edge of the beach.
There are 2 super pools, one with a large jacuzzi area and the other with slides.
Next to the jacuzzi pool was a decked area under the palm trees with 120 large bean bag cushions. This is were we spent our mornings.
There were also plenty of sunbeds around this pool.
The area was surrounded by beautiful trees and plants.
We went to the shingle beach after lunch as there was a lovely breeze. There was always plenty of sunbeds and sun shades. The sea is very shallow and you could go out a fair bit and the water was only about 3ft deep.
The other pool had lots of sunbeds and a cushioned area with about 80 cushions.
The entertainment is varied from Brazilian dancers to a snake dancer! We went out every night but plenty of guests enjoyed the shows.
The guests were from the UK,Turkey,Holland and Belgium which was a lovely mix.Everyone was friendly and there was no queue jumping!
The hotel staff are the best I have encountered in Turkey and nothing was a problem for them.
Our friends came 2 days after us and were allocated a room overlooking a wall, they were shown 3 rooms before they were happy with the room.Their daughter and son-in-law came 1 week later and I asked the desk staff if they could have a room near their parents so they could use their room when leaving. They were given a pool view and 2 doors away from their parents.I was the only person who knew they were coming so it was quite a surprise for our friends.
I would go back to this hotel tomorrow as the grounds are amazing and although the hotel was full there was plenty of space and you could get a sun bed or cushion any time of day.
The whole complex was very similar to large AI hotels and I hope it stays HB as it really is a great hotel.
It is in the centre of the resort and has very noisy bars opposite. This could be a problem for some rooms but luckily we didnt hear any noise from our room.
Take wax earplugs just in case your room is allocated near the bars.

But saying that the location is absolutly spot on you can sit in the outside dining room area and practically touch the beach and sea.
Through the reception area and out the front door you are slap bang in the middle of Gumet.

| said: Stayed at the Parkim Palace in Gumbet.
Hotel was really clean throughout, rooms cleaned daily also bedding and towels also changed daily.
There is a good hairdryer in the Bathroom which comes in very useful.
The gardens are really nice, with plenty of hammocks.
The hotel is of an excellent location, directly on the beach which is good but the beach wasnt that great. It was very dirty with awful stoney sand - i wouldnt even call it shingle.
The food was the only downfall to this hotel, breakfast ok with, eggs, cereals, toast, jam etc but the main meals were un eatable by anyones standards.
The first week was ok and edible but the last week went slowly downhill.
The hotel staff were great. Mum had trouble walking upstairs to her room so they happily gave her a low floor one as soon as one came available.
The beach bar staff were great, just beware though that at the bar outside the hotel Joy-In overcharged us for drinks everytime we went and this does belong to the hotel.
Entertainment was really repetitive not only in the hotel but all the way along the beach front hotels. Cannot comment on other hotels but the entertainment never lasted for more than 45 mins!!
Overall we did like the hotel desipte the odd issue, We would re-visiit the hotel again but probably only on a B&B basis and if it was in a different resort.

The pool was one depth, there was a small pool for children to play in. Being very hot the hotel had adequate shaded areas , there was also hammocks in the garden which were lovely to lay in.
The food was basic in the morning , (cereals and toast), the evening meal was definately turkish style.
The pool bar food was excellent for a snack at lunch time and evening meal, and the staff in the pool bar, they were fantastic, very friendly, we enjoyed their company.
We had entertainment every night which most nights was very good. Also ideal place for nightlife outside of the hotel.
Overal it was a really good holiday and would definately return.

Well lets just say that the food was lukewarm with little to choose from. Breakfast was fine if you like boiled eggs and bread.

| said: Me, my partner and another couple returned from the Parkim Palace on Monday and we have already booked to go back next August with our children.
We have been to many places in Turkey but I have to say that this is one of the best. The location is perfect and you do not have to go very far from the hotel as everything you could possibly want is right on the door step weather it's the beach and restaurants at the back of the hotel or the bars and shops at the front. The staff in the hotel are all very helpful and really friendly especially the lads in the beach bar.
The rooms are clean and bedding and towels are changed daily and if your lucky the cleaner will do a pretty design on your bed with the sheets and petals.
To be honest we didn't use the half board restaurant, but the restaurants around Gumbet are all very nice and reasonably priced (approx £45.00 for a 2 course meal and drinks for 4 people).
In the evenings there is lots going on if not in the Parkim then in one of the neighbouring hotels along the beach.
I'd would recommend this hotel to anyone be it couples or familys as there is something for everyone in Gumbet

We receive e mails and post cards at Christmas from the hotel management.
The rooms have been upgraded June 07 and are spot on our room in Sept had a large spa bath under the window looking out across the bay this made every evening getting ready special along with the help from the mini bar in the room which you are not overcharged for.
Food not that great but if you eat in any of the three restaurants in the hotel you can get a discount card rooms are cleaned every day with clean towels.

| said: We stayed at the Parkim palas between 25th June and 09th July 2007. We were impressed by the hotel on arrival and how clean and well presented it was. We had a query about our rooms not being together when we got there as we have small children split between the 2 rooms wih other nadults in our party, but this was resolved the following day and we were on the same level and only a few doors away. If you want to stay together, remember to request it with your booking or it may not be guaranteed.
The room was cleaned every day and new sheets and towels provided. We didn't get any nice towel arrangements on our beds that we've read about so this was a bit dissapointing.
Air con was excellent, in fact we had to switch it off in the night cos it got too cold lol. It is remote control too so you don't have to get up to switch it on or off or to change any settings.
The balcony view was nice into the gardens and there is a family of Tortoise that come out regularly, some are tiny babies and some big grown up ones, they were nice to watch and the kids loved them.
Beware of the travel company however trying to tell you that the cost of calls using this hotel phones are expensive, this is simply not true and is used to get you to but their own phone cards to make money out of you. The calls from this hotel back to the UK were suprisingly cheap. We made some calls and the average cost was aroud 35 lira cents which is about 14p per minute. So a 3 minute call to a landline in the UK would cost only 1 lira, (Around 40p). The system in the hotel is all electronic and tells you what number you dialled at what time, for what duration and the cost of it. You can pay off some of your tab at any time during your holiday, just give reception your room number and as for a statement of your charges. Thaey use a system called TOM, this is a tag on your room key, they can swipe it when you buy drinks or food from the restaurants and bars and it goes onto your room tab to pay when you want. Saves you taking too much money out with you if staying around the hotel at night.
There are safes in your rooms using a PIN, these cost around £8.00 per week and the cost is none refundable. We sussed out the way the default PIN is set for the safe when you first use it tho, you dont then pay as you know how to set it up yourslef without paying for the default PIN and instructions from reception. Its simply a number 1 followed by your room number and then the letter B, e.g we were in room 122 so the default PIN given to us to set up our own PIN was 1122B, you then press the red button located on the inside of the door near to the hinges, this then allows you to set your own PIN for use while staying there.
The pool was ok, however be warned, it is 1 depth all the way around, this is around 5 foot 6 so if your shorter than this, it can become hard work when having to tread water all the time to breathe as you can't stand up in it. There is a shallow childrens pool coming off the main pool though.
Sunbeds are a plenty and always some free, there's even hammocks in the beautiful gardens to lie on which is not available in most other hotels.
I could go on and on about this hotel which in the main is all good.
The food is quite good too, nothing to complain about. It is mainly turkish style food however using most ingredients you'd find in the UK anyway, lamb, steak, meatballs, chips, curries, pasta and lots more and all very good. A good selection on the salad bar too. I say that if you go to a foreign country, don't expect english food. The foreign food is all part of the experience of a foreign country so if you want british food, Holiday in Britain!!!
One piece of advice to save you some money, the drinks in the bars and on the front by the beach are around 3 times more expensive than just nipping to the shop across the road from the hotel which is much cheaper. The ice cream for example is around 4 lira in the hotel and on the front by the beach but at the shop its anything from 25 lira cents to only 2 lira maximum for all lollies and ice creams, including cornetto and calypo etc. Much cheaper than in the UK.
Breakfast was a bit dissappointing, mostly potatoe sqaures and boiled eggs and small hot dog type sausages. You can get a full english breakfats for only £1.00 directly across the road from the hotel and the service is great too.
The biggest dissappointment for us in this hotel was the play area. The ground is hard and there are no soft landings. On the second week here our son fell off the climbing frame and broke 2 bones in his upper arm. He stayed in the Ozel hospital in Bodrum for 3 days and had to have surgery to put the bones back in place for healing. The hotel did't seem to care and offered no help, support or assistance to us at all. No offer of transport to hospital which we had to do twice daily and not even a kind word from the hotel or a simple "Is there anything we can do?". After all, there were 2 paying guests stuck at the hospital for 3 days and not using the hotel facilities or eating the food but no offer of help, andit was their equipemnt and their failure to put soft floring down to land on that caused this mess. To top this all of and to add insult to injury, the day our son came out of hospital and we visited the area where he was hurt, a notice had been put up saying that the management accept no liability or resposibility for accidents on the play area and children should be supervised at all times. We were disgusted and insulted by this. It seemed like the staff avoided us or avoided giving sympathy to our son as if they had been instructed not to in order to avoid any liability being admitted. This is someting we will certainly be looking into as we beieve that the play area is unsafe as some sort of soft landing or soft ground should be around the area to prevent such injuries should a fall ever arise.
Don't let this put you of this hotel it is otherwise perfect and in a perfect location, we would even go as far as to say we'd visit this hotel again and hope to return next year. Our children can live without their play area as there is plenty to do here anyway.

| said: This hotel was a great find. Probably one of the best in the Gumbet/Bodrum area. Two weeks wasn't enough here.
The hotel is set in a stunning garden, with flowers, banana plants, shrubs, lemon trees, cats and even a family of tortoise. The pool was large and with plenty of sun loungers. This environment made for a wonderful setting.
The location of the hotel is superb, right in the centre of Gumbet. Beach is at back of hotel, main street at front door. Two dolmus stops nearby. Easy walk to bar street, shops, and restaurants. Every thing is at the hotel or close by. However it was not noisy, and very relaxing in the grounds or by the pool.
All the staff can speak English. They are very helpful and friendly, from the cleaners to the reception area. They made you welcome and couldn't do enough for you.
The rooms were very clean, bedding and towels changed daily. Our balcony opened onto the picturesque garden. There was free air conditioning too. The mini bar was over priced, so we just refilled it with drinks bought from the shop across the street, and they never knew.
Food was fine, if somewhat limited in choice of evening meal dishes rather than the quality of them. What we ate in the hotel was OK, but often we took advantage of the hotels guests 30% discount. In the Park Steak Restaurant great food deal with a 3 course steak meal and wine for £6. Beat that. Or 30% off the Green Dragon Chinese, which was again top value for money and a wide ranging choice of dishes. Hotel has three of four bars in its grounds, with BOGOF drinks offers most nights.
To sum up this is a top hotel, and great value for money. Well located, with excellent facilities, staff, and a unique setting. We will definitely go back to this hotel.

The location of the hotel is superb, having been to Turkey numerous times I can safely say this is one of the best located hotels we have found.Staff were very friendly and waited up to say cheerio at the end of our hols.
Entertainment was very good and included in the price.

We had a lovely large room with spacious bathroom, balcony, air con, fridge and TV. Maids were lovely and did a good job.
The pool was a good size and there were shaded areas around the pool too. There were hammocks in the middle of the complex on the grass which were nice to relax in. Lots of tropical looking plants around the area.
Food was really good and staff very helpful and friendly. Entertainment was good on a night, had break dancers, belly dancers, sword show (that I ended up taking part in!) and dancing competitions, all free.
Walk to the end of the pool and the beach was right there, next to the pool bar and icecream stall.

We have the staff helpful and friendly.
The food reasonable with plenty of choice each evening.
The room was cleaned and the towels changed every day and the room althrough basic served the purpose, even if the pillows were hard. The free air con was great as the night temp did not go below 25deg while we were there.
The staff could not have been better, very friendly and helpful and all tried to speak English. (what a shame we British don't try harder to speak their lanaugue)
All in all a great holiday and we will go back some time in the future.

Entertainment at night was ok it depended on what was on that night sometimes it was good but if you didn't like that and you wanted to go some were else there were plenty of places to go.
I was really dreading the food at this hotel but it was really really nice even if you did have to queue up for it it didn't take long. Had a fantastic holiday Gumbet itself is a beutiful resort and we would definitely come back to this hotel

| said: I stayed in the hotel in June last year with my younger sister - her first time abroad without the parents! As it was a last minute deal we expected a grotty hotel miles away from the beach but what we got couldn't have been better.
The hotel was on the beach front, perfect for lazy days and with beautiful views at meal times. It's location was ideal, so close to the bars, shops and restaurants.
We stayed half board, breakfast was fine, but the evening meal could have been better. As we tended to eat towards the end of service it was a case of eating what was left. My sister (a typically British eater - chips!), wasn't fond of the food. But saying that there were cheap restaurants all around which we tried on a number of evenings.
Service from staff was good, were very helpful when the key to our room wouldn't work! If you do a 2 day trip anywhere ask the hotel for a packed breakfast - very handy when on a bus and hungover from the night before!
Regarding the entertainment we went out every evening so hard to comment - but there was something different everyday.
Would definitely stay in the hotel again.

| said: The hotel was really lovely, it is right in the middle of everything, with shops right outside and bars just both up & down the street, it was the perfect location.
The food in the hotel was really nice, plenty on offer both morning & night.
Rooms were a bit small but very clean & the hair dryer in the bathroom came in handy.
The hotel staff were more than helpful, they couldnt do enough for you, no matter what time of the day it was, they were very friendly, we became good friends with everyone who worked there.
The entertainment was very good it was over by 1 which was good for anyone with children.
Although we went to the beach everyday there was always plenty of sunbeds at the pool. The gardens around the hotel are beautiful but watch out for the tiny frogs.
We are booking to go back in October we enjoyed it that much!

| said: The Parkim Palace is right in the centre of Gumbet and the hotel backs onto the beach. It is ideally placed for the Dolmus into Bodrum and is a clean well appointed hotel.
The rooms are of a good size with a large mirrored wardrobe, nice bathrooms with a very efficient hairdryer and shower. The rooms have small balconies with just enough room for two chairs and a small table.
The gardens are well maintained and have sunbeds and hammocks away from the pool. The pool is of a good size with awnings and umbrellas; although we went peak weeks we never had a problem getting sunbeds or shade.
We were bed and breakfast which was a typical Turkish breakfast but we did hear many complaints about the evening meals. The hotel has a few restaurants attached to it and beach bars but there are so many restaurants and snack bars around, all good value as always in Turkey.
Although there were some English the second week for the first week we seemed to be the only English there as it was mainly German, Russian and Dutch in this hotel.
For this reason I would not stay in this hotel again and I would prefer to try the Baba or the Sami Beach.
