| said: although this complex is excellently located and has good facilities in the accommodation, it was a noisy complex, ideal for families but not for those wanting a nice relaxing holiday! If you end up in room 608 you are directly opposite the children's play area, full of uncontrollable children. The standard of cleanliness in the rooms is poor, the floors were flithy and was only cleaned once in 14 days and I doubt if the bathroom floor was cleaned once in that time. If you are up for karioke, greek nights, cheap bbq's then this is the place for you! if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday then do not stay at the Matina!

| said: After my last visit in May I decided to give this place a 2nd chance. I pre-booked a "quiet" room this time. Arrived at 1am and the bar was in full flow. Went to my room to find it was only 10m from the pool this time.Only used it as a base and ate and drank at other places. The bar area around the pool is in constant use after it closes about 3am but the people then bring out their own drinks and carry on until well after 4am.This would be ok if they kept the noise level down but they don't. Reception don't care about the noise and ignore any requests for peace. Early one morning a mini riot broke out and apartment windows were smashed and the toilet block was vandalised. So goodbye to the Matina ,I've already booked 2 more holidays next year to Pefkos but I won't be at the Matina.

| said: This year we opted to take a taxi to the hotel at a cost of £46 Euros, so we were quickly at the Hotel, ready to start our holiday. We were welcomed by the lovely Yiota, who is always on hand to help you out regarding your room , currency exchange, air con etc.
We were in room 517 (One of the larger 1 bed apts), overlooking the pool, with a massive balcony, looking out over Pefkos Bay on one side and the resort from the other side. The balcony had a table and 2 chairs and 2 cushioned sun beds!
The air con is essential and costs around 60-70 in a studio for 2 weeks or 135 euros for 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom apartment (these have 2 air con units). The temperature in the resort was in the forties, every day for the whole fortnight!! Very hot! There can be quite a breeze at times, but the breeze tends to be warm as well.
The matina apts are surrounded by lovely well maintained gardens and are a stones through from the beautiful sandy beach. There is a good sized pool with toddlers’ splash area and there is also a small separate paddling pool for younger children. This paddling pool is surrounded by sun beds and has large umbrellas to shield the children from the sun….
The main pool is surrounded by plenty of cushioned sun beds and umbrellas and there is always enough, even when the apartments are fully booked. There are toilet facilities and shower facilities next to the pool and these are cleaned regularly.
Next to the pool area, is the Children’s play area which is fully covered. The play area has some swings, a chute, a small trampoline, lots of little tikes outdoor toys, a jungle gym and plenty of tables and chairs.
There is also an air conditioned games room which has pool tables, air hockey, table tennis; a few amusement games, computer games and a massage chair (Think this one is more for the adults!!)
There is a quiet, air conditioned peaceful bar and small gift shop at the reception area with a book swap library, comfy chairs, sofas and an internet café.
There is a pool bar which is open all day 8 till late, serving drinks, food, snacks etc. The standard of the food is high and very reasonably priced with traditional breakfasts, salads, toasties, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, soup, omelettes, great pasta dishes (carbonara is lovely- huge portion for 5 euro). Children’s menu is good (Chicken Nuggets are 100% breast chunks- lovely, sausage and chips, pizza, omelette, spag bol etc). Most snack options are priced between 2 euros- 3.50euros. Great value! They also serve main meals in the evening; Souvlaki, pork chop, pastas, stifado etc.
The Matina has selection of entertainment on throughout the week, with reps night , quiz night, Karaoke (Tues and Sat- John and Helen are great and always encourage new comers, but no pressure if you just want to watch the variety of singing talent on display!!)
They do a BBQ Night which is very good value for money- 8 euros for an adult, 4 for kids. They have pork souvlaki (skewered kebab), chicken fillet, pork chops, sausages, burger etc along with Greek salad, chips, rice etc. The portions are excellent and food is lovely!
The highlight of the week is the Greek night on a Sunday Night, 10 euros per adult and 5 for kids. This price covers the cost of your meal and you have all the food on offer at the BBQ Night along with Beef Stifado (Stew made with small onions in a beefy tomato sauce), pasta bake etc. They also have a live band with 4 dancers who do a great job of entertaining everyone with Greek dancing and games for kids and adults.

Overall we really enjoyed it.

| said: We were recommended the Matina. Stayed for a week to attend a family wedding in Lardos. Great location, noisy pool area until 4.30am.
Would not advise to have room 106 which is the noisiest room in the hotel. Had to call security twice during the stay to stop noisy people around the pool until early hours.Room was cleaned and towels changed only if you were up early and out of your room as they don't come back.Had to ask at reception for towels.
Loved the Oasis bar across the road. Kostas runs a great quiz night, food good too.Watched the sunset at Lee's bar on beach, stunning view.
The Matina was noisy day and night so went out to other bars. We would return to the Matina but only as a base and pre-book a quiet rrom.

| said: We have just got back and I must say I didn't want to leave. The staff very friendly, met loads of really nice people. Air Con cost approx £85.00 and was needed as temp hit 47degrees somedays and our appartment overlooked the pool and was in the sun those appartments further down in the shade didn't really need the air con. Water Park cost approx £86.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids booked through rep then upgraded the children for 5 euros each at water park my kids are 12 and 14 very good water park.
Check in very well organised. No fighting for sun bed a relaxed holiday but a visit to the Eclipse bar 15mins walk from martina is well worth it. Have always said would not go back to anywhere already been but would go back there! transfer was only about 50mins and flight 3hr 40min out and 4 hrs back home. Airport on way home was very busy but once through check in loads of space in departures. food at appartments was nice and not expensive. Greek house very good food but a little expensive. Great holiday for families we met loads of new friends. deffo would recommend if thinking about Rhodes.

| said: Returned from the Matina apartments yesterday, we all had a fab time!! We were in a party of six myself, husband, two kids(13,14)and grandparents (68,72) each and everyone of us a great time and the Matina provided each one of us with what we wanted from the holiday, which is no mean feat with three generations. The reception staff were very helpful and efficient, we were in our room within five minutes of arrival, the rooms were clean and well kept. The maid service was really good there was always lots of clean towels and linen and sheets and pyjamas arranged in pretty shapes. Must mention Stergos the daytime barman, he is so friendly and asks you your name and introduces you to other guests. The beach is two minutes down the road. Pool was great, plenty of sunbeds. Kareoke night is a must.

| said: Well, what can we say, apart from FANTASTIC !!!!
Stayed at numerous greek islands before, but this was the first time that we have visited Rhodes. I really think that we made the right choice in property and in resort. We stayed in 2x 1 bedroom apartments which had plenty of space and were clean and tidy. The maid came in each morning apart from a Sunday as this is the only day off that they have. Towells were stated that they were changed twice a week, but our were definately changed more than that, along with the bedding.
The staff here are superb especially Stergos who works the bar in the daytime. Tell him your name and I bet you that he will remember it right throughout the rest of your holiday. Then you've got Costas who works the bar in the evening. He is lovely and a little bit more reserved than Stergos.
If you need anything from the reception area they are really helpful and nothing is too much bother to them.
you are really made to feel welcome at the Matina.
Each morning I would sit on the balcony with my book as its so peaceful. The gardner Samos wouldn't pass me without saying hello ..he was lovely and typical greek. Karaoke night is really good laugh and youv'e got to go to the Greek night ... good fun!!!!!

| said: We have just returned from 2 weeks and have had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this hotel.
The staff, on arrival were very helpful and pleasant. It was extremely hot so air conditioning was essential. Having paid for this we found that one of the air con systems was not working. We reported this and the staff were very efficient and arranged for the maintenance man to fix the following day.
The room was spacious and cleaned daily (apart from Sundays). Towels and linen changed regularly, nothing was a problem for the cleaning staff.
We ate at the hotel a couple of times, the menu was very varied and quite cheap. Bar staff were very friendly and loved the children.
The only problem we found were people reserving sunbeds. There are notices around the hotel requesting that sun beds are not reserved, however people were still doing this. During our second week we had to get up at 8.30am to put towels on the bed(if you were not by the pool by 9am you wouldn't get a bed). On our last day the management did in fact remove all the towels!!

| said: Well what can I say about the Matina Apartments – except BRILLIANT? So good infact we have already booked for next year.
Apartments were clean and tidy and more than adequate in size. They were cleaned 6/7 days and there was plenty of towels/bedding provided.
Kids club sessions were varied and children really enjoyed going. Sessions were held 4 mornings and 5 evenings per week on first come first served basis, but again as it was beginning of June no problems getting the little ones in to let the big ones have a bit of sunshine.
Overall a fantastic holiday and well recommended.

I didn't check the transfer time before i booked, which is quite a long haul! but was well worth it. 1 hour 45 mins from the airport seems like forever, but after a 4 and a half hour flight, a sleep could pass the time!
The apartments were clean, the staff were always cheerful - and remembered everyone's names!
I had read on a review before going to take some music on cd's for behind the bar - they were really appriciated!
I will defo go to this place agin, met some lovely people and had a brill time. Can't wait to go there again next year - this time for 2 weeks instead of one!!

| said: We were very pleased with the Matina apartments. They were a minutes walk down a quiet road to the beach & a couple of minutes from the majority of the restuarants/bars & shops. They were spotlessly clean, with linen & towels changed every day,All the staff were extremely helpful, even taking our suitcases to our apartments for us.
The facilities were excellent,a good pool, with a walled off shallow section, plus another pool especially for babies/toddlers.The staff saved buckets, spades, beach toys, inflatables left by other holidaymakers, instead of binning them,so that new arrivals could use them, which was a very good idea.We were told to help ourselves to what we wanted to use & take them to the beach if we wanted to.When we'd done,we left them for another family to use.
The playground was very well equipped & had a lovely swinging seat & benches so you could relax & keep an eye on the children.
The only thing I wasn't to keen on,was the music around the bar at night. It could get a bit noisy & woke our daughter up on one occasion.I don't like organised entertainment so didn't go to any of the stuff put on,but there was karaoke, quizzes ect for those that do.
I would go to the Matina again & would reccomend it.

That's the gripes done with. On the positive side the hotel was very clean & tidy, a good sized pool + toddlers pool & play area away from main pool, some entertainment every night but can be noisy at times.
Good varity of English & Greek food at reasonable prices.
Ideal location for families with young kids (beach 1 min & shops 3 min's walk) shop on site very very basic. All staff very friendly .
I would come back again.

| said: We arrived the early hours of the morning after a hour transfer from the airport. We all reported to reception to collect our keys and we were also given a bottle of water (nice touch )
When we arried at our apartment I noticed there was alot of ants on the floor also the apartment smelt and there was a tatty old matress on top of the wardrobe, as we had a 8 year old child as well I felt there was no way we could sleep in the apartment, so I went back to the reception and spoke to a male receptionist (remember this was about 4 in the morn!!) he said he could not move me as all the rooms were allocated and they were waiting for another coach group to arrive in a few hours. After being very patient but determined not to stay in the apartment he agreed to change our apartment for us, after we were moved we did not have any complaints.
A fantatstic place to stay the staff were really good esp Stelios and a very pretty girl called "Armani" who was really funny and had a wicked personality. The omelettes are really nice and are always served with chips, so this is nice for a "brunch" The breakfast is really good too!!!!
The situation of the hotel was ideal not to close to live entertainment and close too the beach. We came with my son and his girlfriend who went into the town every night and made friends with a local who worked in one of the bars, we joined them some nights but we were quite happy just taking it easy!!!!!!!!!!

The Matina is spotlessly clean with an excellent maid service. We stayed in a studio which was well kitted out and very spacious, oh and loads of hangers in the wardrobe.
The staff always friendly and polite. Location was perfect 2mins to the beach and plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The pool area is spacious with plenty of sun beds, Tables and parasols and also immaculate.
The weather was extremely hot whilst we were there but we made good use of the pool to cool off. Air con is a must, its not cheap, but worth it.
The poolside bar was excellent value for lunches/snacks and the food was lovely. Evening entertainment was good fun especially the Greek night on a Sunday.
The games room was put to good use by our daughter and again was very clean with excellent facilities.

We stayed in a studio for three which was very spacious, and well equipped with a toaster, microwave, kettle and fridge.
These apartments were very clean with maid service every day apart from Sunday.
The food and drinks at the pool bar were very good, and the bar staff were very friendly.
The apartments are situated on an incline, but it is not too steep, two minutes from the beach and five minutes to the resort centre.
The pool area was very clean and in nice surroundings, there was plenty of sun loungers.
There was entertainment at the pool bar every night, but can't really comment because we went into the resort centre most evenings.
We would definitely visit Pefkos again, and stay at the Matina.

| said: Excellent holiday
Stayed in a one bedroom apartment and there was plenty of room. Maids did a great job 6 days and we had fresh towels and bedding every second day. Air conditioning a bit pricey - we were prepared though thanks to reading reviews on this site. We paid 70 Euros + 30 Euro deposit.
Bar food was great and fairly cheap too. Plenty of kids meals to choose from and ice cream cones for 1 euro which kept the kids happy as well as the usual freezer delights.
Location of hotel was great - 2 minute walk from beach and 5/10 minute walk to resort centre.
Bar staff (Stegros & Mikalis) were great and the reception staff very friendly & helpful. Greek beer Mythos very nice as served in ice cold glass.
Entertainment consisited of pub quiz/greek night/karaoke/reps party/bbq evening.
Would certainly book up for these apartments again as we had an excellent holiday.

| said: The accomodation was cleaned every day but sunday, and the cleaning staff were the friendliest I have come across!
The bar staff in the evening seemed on occasion to make the prices up, so watch out for that.
If you have any problems at all the reception lady was brilliant and very knowledgable.
The pool was very crowded so you needed to be up early to get a sunbed, but we found the kelari bar had a beautiful pool and did better lunch just up the road, and always had spare sunbeds.
The Matina seemed to be the best standard of accomodation that we saw, and had the best play ground. however if you had small children they seemed to wander between the pool and playarea and it was hard to keep an eye on them, which is another reason we chose the Kelari pool in the day.
Overall we had a brilliant holiday and I would recommend the hotel.

We ate at the pool bar several times for breakfast/lunch and it was excellent also very reasonable.A few minuites to the beach and shops.
One great thing there were no touts or people trying to drag you in to their restuarant, they were just lovely friendly people, would recommend hiring a car there are some great sights get up into the mountains ad see the real "greek" villages also Tsambiki beach and Pressonissi(sp).
We will certainly be going back, incidentally the weather was scorching we just needed a light jacket at night.

| said: I must be in the minority as regards my opinion on the Matina Apts. We had a ground floor studio apt just behind reception and although I agree the place is kept very clean, I found it noisy at night and a bit smelly in public areas. There were broken tiles around the pool and a child cut his foot on a broken tile when we were there. The pool was manic, so busy, you did not have a chance of keeping a close eye on children. I hated staying at the Matina. If you want lovely apartments in Pefkos try Lindia Thallasa (stayed there in 2004) - far superior to Matina, could not fault Lindia Thallasa, superb, clean and 50m from beach.

| said: We've just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Matina and it was definitely what we expected from reading all of the excellent reports.
When we arrived the first thing we thought was how much smaller the hotel looks in the brochure, it really wasn't as small as we imagined.
We had a studio apartment with a pool and sea view which was always kept clean with the maids coming 6 times per week and linen changed twice per week.
There were always sunbeds available when we got up at 9am.
Air conditioning cost us 30 euros deposit and 70 euros for the 2 weeks we were there and it was definitely needed! The deposit for the air conditioning also covered the safe deposit which was 10 euros for 2 weeks. The safety deposit boxes are in main reception.
It's really cheap to use the telephone in reception (2 euros is about 3 and a half-4 mins) but if you phone from your room it's 1 euro per min.
The Istros Cafe Bar in reception is cheap! Much cheaper than the bar at the poolside. A Jack Daniel's and coke cost us 1 euro 50 cents one night! And the measurements aren't the smallest!
The hotel food was always nice although we didn't eat there in the night as there were plenty of options on Pefkos main street.
The beach is literally a 30 second walk away from the hotel. When we first read the reports we thought it couldn't be that close but it is. 2 sunbeds and an umbrella will cost you 8 euros per day but the beach is lovely.
The main street is a 10 minute walk away from the main street which is packed full of shops, bars and restaurants.
The hotel staff were all really friendly.
The two barmen Stellios and Manoli were our favourites! They managed to remember everyone's names and talk to you without you feeling like they were just being polite. They are always looking for new CD's to play by the pool in the daytime so if you go take some copies for them to keep and to avoid hearing the same music day after day.
There was something to do in the hotel every night except a Wednesday. The Sunday night Greek BBQ and dance night was not really our best night there. The reps have a party night on Friday which both kids and adults get involved in. It's good. Monday night is the quiz night which 6 of us won and got very drunk on a lethal cocktail bowl thanks to Manoli! There is karaoke night too.
Overall, our holiday was fantastic and we would definitely return to the Matina.

If you have booked a holiday here......CONGRATULATIONS!! These apartments were fantastic.
The location was superb, right next to the beach and in close proximity to the centre of the resort.
We stayed in a superior 1 bed apartment and it was huge!! It had all the mod cons....Fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, tv( bloomberg, BBC PRIME, etc), hairdryer. They had mosquito plugins in the rooms as well. Cleaners were in 6 days a week and apartment were always clean.
Air con is expensive, but worth it. In a studio, you have one unit (5 euros per night), I bed apt have 2 units (10 euros per night). Safety deposit box was about 10 euros for a fortnight with a 30 euro refundable deposit.
The bar staff were terrific (Stergos and Mr. Manoli esp.) Food at the snack bar was really good with great sized portions.Good value for money....
We were always able to get sunbeds at the pool and the pool was very child friendly.
Kids playpark is right beside the pool and snackbar and is under cover (also well lit at night).
Entertainment was good with a couple of Karaoke nights, party night, quiz night, greek night (fabulous and good value- plenty food and dancing.
There is a good games room for kids and adults with ping pong, pool tables, air hockey, table football, etc (air conditioned as well).
Reception staff were always helpful and friendly and there is another bar there with internet access etc. More quiet with comfy sofas etc. ( go up to roof terrace above reception to watch sunset!!!).
Kids club was fantastic too. Charlotte (we miss you,esp Ross), Faye and Claire really take care of the kids and the kids loved them. Not forgetting Nick the Direct rep, very knowledgable of the area and always helpful.
Cannot fault this place!! Wanna go back!! It would amaze you how many people return here year after year...We will be back next year.

The whole complex is spotless and maid service is 6 times per week. We ate at the pool bar a few times although not for our main meal, and we found it to be fine; toasties, salads burgers, etc.
The staff are fantastic especially Manolis and Stergo behind the bar. You must stay here if you have kids, they will love it. There's the pool, a playground which is shaded, a games room and an area of grass where our boys played football.
Our only complaint is that the air conditioning costs around £90 for 2 weeks which we thought was expensive but apart from that, we loved it!

| said: This is the second year we have had our holiday at the Matina apartments in Pefkos. Both times were brilliant. We are even thinking about a third!!
Staff really make you feel welcome, even the maids. Everyone is extremely friendly.
The Dolphin club for the kids is a must, although our girls Amy 8 and Morgan 6 felt they were a wee bit too old for it as the kids were quite young. Food at the bar is fab and cheap.
The resort is perfect for safety and relaxing. The only place where we didn't have to worry about anything!!
Would recommend this to any family.

| said: We visited the Matina Apartments in May 2005 for the first time and we really enjoyed our stay. We read some reviews before going and I can say, it did live up to what we expected.
We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Superior Apt and if you can get one of them I recommend you do. The balcony is very big with 2 sun lounges and table and 4 chairs. This will sleep up to 4 but we stayed with just the 2 of us and had plenty of room.
The apartments themselves were very clean and modern. And the grounds of the place are also very clean and tidy. Inc bar, pool and games room.

Spacious apartment. Very clean. Bathroom wonderful...enormous mirror/vanity unit, bath with shower and shower curtain. Kitchen had two electric rings plus electric kettle and toaster, fridge. Very well maintained.
Balcony quite small but had sea view so didn't worry.
Literally 1 minute from the beach and very central to the town. I should imagine in height of summer you would need airconditioning..(which was expensive). It was very hot some nights when we were there and the only ventilation is the french doors out onto the balcony- which you couldn't really leave open all night for security reasons.
We never stayed around the hotel so cannot really comment on entertainment - but those that did stay on site seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Would not hesitate staying here again. Last minute booking and landed on our feet!

The food was okay although the times we ate there was when it was traditional Greek food they were serving, if you like Greek food then I'm sure it would be great but it was not our thing!
The location was great it was only a short walk of literally 1 minute to the beach (downhill).
The staff were excellent, especially Stefanos! who I loved (Rachel!) The other staff were great too. One night I was even behind the bar serving, they were so easy going and fun to be around.
The entertainment was alright, but it was very quiet and as it was situated very near the beach out of all the biz there was not many people there at night. The bar shut at 1am so if you wanted to stay up you had to go to your room!!

Excellent Dolphin club crew, they were brilliant with the kids, which made us adults enjoy our stay very much. The staff worked long hours, especially our friend Minolis who worked the bar day and night, he never forgot to put a smile on his face mind and always made us very wecome.
Hoping to return again this year with all the family,so keep up the good work..............thankyou.
