Stayed for one week at the Pionero. The hotel was clean and modern, maybe a little lacking in air conditioning, with plenty of space.

The food was very good, with a large selection at both breakfast and dinner. Most tastes were catered for, and all ages seemed to be enjoying the food.

The location was brilliant, just a short stroll from the beach and shops, but far enough away to be quiet.

Some staff were great, and a few not so great. Overall I can't fault them.

The entertainment was the usual stuff, but seemed well supported by guests. The flamenco dancers were superb.

I would definitely visit the Pionero again.

Beautiful hotel, quiet location but feels like a million miles away when your sauced! Very clean but a few mornings the maids walked in even when there was a d.n.d. sign on the door also the fridge in the room was broken and the aircon wasn't the coolist.

The reception staff were quiet old and grumpy so not a place for the young and lively. the food was a disgrace!!!! You could have veal or veal or veal!! It was as if only the Germans were being catered for.

The one redeeming factor for this hotel was the my travel rep, Debbie. She was so helpful and acted as tho she really cared instead of fobbing us off with easy answers.

The Santa Ponsa Park hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the beach. The hotel was modern with spacious rooms and very clean. The entertainment staff were very helpful and cheerful and always were around with games and activities to do during the day.

Unfortunately that is where the goods things end. The food was of the worst I have tasted while on holiday and there was not much choice. The staff in the hotel were very unfriendly and unhelpful. The reception staff were grumpy and the restaurant staff didnt want to know. One one occassion a waiter dropped a plate with food on it and this was not removed till a supervisor appeared some 5 minutes later.

The bar staff were only interested if you were paying cash (we were on all inclusive basis). Needless to say no tips were left at the end of the week.

This is not a hotel we will return to.

Although we only stayed a few nights at this Hotel, as we spent the first part of the holiday in Cala Millor, we were very disappointed with the food and the attitude of some of the staff.

In Cala Millor we stayed at the sister Hotel Acorn Borneo which had a better choice of food & even had ovens baking fresh bread in the restaurant. The staff allowed us to choose our table, which we could use for the rest of our stay, and the reception staff could not do enough for you.

In contrast, the staff at the Acorn Pionera were generally very rude & abrupt to ourselves & other tourists (I think that they were probably too old for the jobs & lacked patience to deal with any queries or problems that can arise)When we arrived we asked at reception for a map of the area, & were answered with a 1 word reply : 'Tourist Board!'

Each morning a man would walk around the restaurant with a clip-board, asking pointless questions, while we trying to eat our breakfast. On our last night we rang reception & asked for an outside line, so that we could call home. We were told that as we were going home the following day it would not be possible to use the telephone (presumably, in case we 'did a runner' without paying the bill) we couldn't believe it!

The hotel had only just opened for the season on the day we arrived, very clean had just been refurbished. When we arrived at 1.30pm the man at reception was not pleasant at all, he told us if we wanted to eat we had to go to the restaurant straight away as it closed at 2.30, so by the time we had checked in, got all luggage to our rooms, got back down, we found the food was cold and not very good at all, didn't get any better all week. The restaurant staff were the most miserable lot I have ever come across we din't get a smile from any of them all week, lots of older men who should have retired in my opinion. So very rude to us too.

We then went back to our rooms looking forward to a bath we found the water was brown apparently the system should have been purged before we arrived but hadn't been done this was done after we complained

The hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed at. Its location a is ten minute walk from the beach and has no dedicated sea views, only partial, i.e. over the top of buildings in front of it.

The food is repetitive with no imagination, I personally lost 4 lbs. in wieght during my stay becasue it was so abysmal !The entertainment is virtually non existant, one night a magician, (v.good) one night flamenco (v.good) one night a duo with keyboard (rubbish1) the rest, play your cards right (3 hours) bingo (3 hours) and stacking toilet rolls in under 60 secs game (2 hours).

The noise from the aircon over the restaurant is horrendous,(24/7) take ear plugs! The drinks in the all inclusive menu are pretty dire, if you want a decent drink you'll have to pay 2 euros extra per drink.

Food ok. Was worried by other reviews, but it was fine.

Hotel layout means very few rooms have views. We had view across road to flats opposite -not good. Room was clean and not too cramped for the 3 of us.

Air con was useless. Left it on maximum cooling all day (with windows shut as advised) and it made barely any difference. At night (with air-con still on max) the room was much warmer than we wanted.

Entertainment was good. My 4yr old loved the mini-disco (most nights) and any shows (magician, acrobats etc).

The Pool is unheated. Didn't think this was going to be a problem but it was. It was too cold for everyone, despite weather being 25-28C. The most people I saw in the pool was 4! We used the indoor one a couple of times, but not being able to use the outdoor pool was a big disappointment.

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Ponsa Park on an all-inclusive basis.

Even though it was peak season, the hotel was kept immaculately clean.

The rooms were on the small side and could only just accommodate three beds. Rooms were carpeted (as were corridors), which kept noise to a minimum.

A fridge and television were provided free of charge in the room. There was a small charge for the safety deposit box. A large ceiling fan and air-conditioning were a bonus as it was very hot. Soap and shower gel provided in the bathrooms, but no hairdryer.

On arrival at the restaurant, you are provided with a table which you keep for the duration of your holiday, so no scrambling for a clean table, or queuing. Drinks are ordered and served at the table. Food on the whole was very good. Food was varied, warm and plentiful.

All hotel staff encountered were friendly and pleasant - apart from one young lady at the pool bar, who insisted on serving other nationalities before the British! After a complaint to the management by other guests, I didn't see her serving at that particular bar again.

Again, in high season, very little queuing at the bar for drinks in the evening. No limit to the amount of drinks served to one person, which helped when obtaining drinks for 6 people! Evening entertainment was the usual hotel affair - presented well.

Lots of daytime activities to get involved in if required.
Pool areas always busy, but you could always get sunbeds on the terrace at any time of the day - which we did, and still had a view of the pool to keep an eye on the kids - ideal!

The Santa Ponsa Park is an excellent value for money hotel, with lots of added touches which made the holiday most enjoyable.

I would definitely visit this hotel again.

This was the second time we visited these hotels. The hotels are very nice and set within nice surroundings. The location is excellent as they are a short walk from the beach and the nighlife.

The hotel offers a good selection of food although a bit repetitive at times. There is a range of entertainment and the staff work very hard.

We noticed a big difference this time as the Santa Ponsa Park was all inlcusive. Some holiday makers spent all morning, afternoon and night drinking which got out of hand at times. teenagers and couple of children as young as ten were also drinking.

Most of the staff were the same but there was a couldn't care less attitude. On a couple of accisions children had been sick in the pool and it took the staff ages to clean it up. No notices were displayed to inform people of and guests kept using the pool. Bad enough the first time but the second time was unforgivable.

There was also an accident, where a small boy fell through the entrance grate. Staff did not act approporiate until the parent arrived.

I would recommend the pionero rather than the Santa Ponsa park.

We stayed at the Pionero from 14th May till the 21st May. Wasnt our origional choice,we were put there because the Hesperia hotel had overbooked.Pionero seemed the better choice.

Couldnt fault the hotel for cleanliness.Maids were in every day. They didnt speak much english but were always very pleasant. The hotel seemed to be more for the older person 60+. Entertainment was very good every night.Could have done more for the children, maybe a proper kids club, were the children are supervised.

Swimming pools were very cold even the indoor one,put the children off going in.Hotel food wasnt very nice.Didnt cater for the children at all, ours lived on chips all the week.Every night the menu was made up of rabbit, duck, veal, salmon. If you werent there at the beginning of the serving the food was cold and greasy.

The hotel rep was only there a couple of times a week, for about an hour, after that you had a helpline number to ring, not good enough.

We visited the Pionero from the 23rd October till the 30th. Our group consisted of 6 mid 40's, 3 21 yr olds and 2 16 year olds.

The hotel was always clean and the rooms well tidied no matter what time of day. The maids were friendly and although spoke little english tried their best!!

The hotel food was slightly repetitive and by the end of the week we had had the same meal twice. The choice may not have also been everyones taste: veal most nights and 2 fish dishes not a lot of english food although chips were always available!! Whether this was due to the fact that we went on the last week of the season i don't know maybe food would be better in the height of season!!

The hotel location was excellent close to taxis, pubs and bars, restaurants, banks and foreign exchange, supermarkets, perfume shops, beaches and what i call touristy shops!!

The staff in the sister hotel seemed friendlier than the staff in our hotel although maybe this was due to the fact they were nearer our age i don't know. They seemed more than happy to join in our card and uno games round the poolside.

A BIG thank you to the assisant manager Esmerelda as we had the grill in our bathroom broke when we arrived and it was fixed within a couple of hours she also sorted out a cake and complimentary bottle of wine for the birthday boy of our group!!So thank you.

We tended to go to a local karaoke bar at niht as we knew the owners but the entertainment we did see was very good.
We would but it would probably be with 2 changes. Firstly I would go at a different time of year as although there were lots still open stocks were limited in the perfume shops and duty free.

Secondly I would go all inclusive as the drinks prices were quite high and that was where most of our spending money seemed 2 go, and why we went to a local bar. Oh and just one more thing if you do go at the end of the season son't expect your rep to be there on the last day because ours had flown home that morning and no one was there at the airport to see us off in the afternoon.
