| said: I would not recommend this hotel on, unless you go on a Bed and Breakfast basis and eat out. We arrived and I had especially asked for a room close to all amenities as my mother is an older lady, who has difficulty walking too far. We couldn't have been further from amenities and had to climb stairs to get to room. We asked to change but were told that as we'd arrived at 2am we would have to wait until the morning. We were moved on the next day, but only after the extremely helpful Wings Rep intervened.
The Bellboy doing the removal was very helpful and even suggested we leave clothes on hangers and then moved the clothes for us, so we didn't have to repack.
We had read on the internet that the food was repetitive and "samey". But we figured that the type of people who might put reviews on the internet, generally have an axe to grind and these reviews might not be balanced. We were very wrong. The food was atrocious. Breakfast considered of what we thought was a powedered egg mix which you could have turned into a four inch round paper thin omelette. You could also have a pancake. There were grilled vegetables (undercooked), mashed potatoes (lumpy), and undercooked white shredded cabbage with hot dog sausages in it. There was a selection of raw salad type vegetables, cucumber, wrinkled tomatoes, shredded red cabbage and some sort of turnip with hummous and tzatziki. There was stale/dry bread and a selection of stale or dry small pastries.
We never went for lunch so I have no idea what that was like. You could order a Pizza or Salad from the Pool Bar. I did order a tuna salad, which arrived and contained no salad leaves but was a mashed mixture of tuna with huge amounts of raw (strong) onion and green pepper. No salad leaves in sight. My mother had a steak (read shoe leather) sandwich.
Evening meal consisted of recycled salad veg and tzatziki and hummous from the morning. A soup, rice, pasta, undercooked (almost raw) vegetables or potato. For pudding we had the same every day except on one day where it was Egyptian Day and they had some lovely pastries. Otherwise it was Blancmange, Creme Caramel, Set Custard, Jelly and Chocolate Pudding. In reality it was basically just a selection of different colours blancmange. The only fruit on offer was melon or dates, occasionally sliced orange. Never any other fruit not for breakfast or dinner.
The service was good and the waiters were friendly and attentive but didn't speak much english. There were many polish people in the hotel and we wondered if the hotel was trying to cater to their tastes as it was not to an english person's taste. However, polish people we spoke to didn't like the food either.
The pool bar was good. We only drank water, so no idea what the drinks are like, although we were told that as the hotel is "all inclusive" they buy only the cheapest spirit to hand on to the customers. The waiter told us this. They were quite disaparaging of the all inclusive guests.
The grounds of the hotel are very pretty with bougainvillea and nicely tended shrubs. The cleaner worked hard and left pretty flowers on our bed. After we tipped him several times he began to leave extra things, like we suddenly acquired a box of tissues, hitherto absent and then we suddenly got new fluffy towels instead of the threadbare ones we'd been getting.
The hotel is shabby all round. The stripey beach towels are threadbare and grey. The bath towels equally are shabby and grey (except the last two days we had new ones). The tiling in the bathroom is blackened with mould and there are no complimentary soaps or shampoos provided. There's a dispenser with hand soap in the shower and by the sink.
The area where the sun beds are (for sunbeds imagine sardines in a tin, that's how close they are placed. You are rubbing elbows with your neighbour, whether you want to or not!!)
On the penultimate day we had arranged with the reception to stay in our room for £20 (or 200LE - egyptian pounds). On the morning of departure (our flight was at 2.15am), I went to reception to pay my bill and was told that it would be £25 to stay until 6pm. I explained that I had arranged to pay £20 as we didn't have much left, and wouldn't have enough left for drinks that day if we gave all our money away. This made no difference and they insisted on the £25, and then wanted the towel cards back immediately. I refused to pay either £25 or give the towel cards back, finding their attitude quite high handed and rude. I told them that I would give the towel cards back in the evening, when I'd finished with the towels and we arranged to use another guest's room to get ready.
Hugely important to note also is, that every evening at 7pm (restaurant opens at 7.30), a man went around with a machine which smoked, and left a pea-souper of parrafin flavoured smog around the hotel grounds for the evening. We presumed this was to get rid of mosquitos, but as we and others got bitten badly it didn't do much good. One evening we were stuck halfway between our room and reception when the smoke machine went off, and my mother inhaled a great deal of smoke. She then began to wheeze quite badly and we ended up having to get linctus and antibiotics as it developed into a bad chest infection. This stuff should have a health warning, especially for asthmatics. They also cook the outdoor grill food whilst this is going on, so your grilled kofta or fish would have a delicious aroma of parrafin around it!!!
My mother had never visited Sharm before, we have and stayed at the Jolie Ville which was excellent, but I have to say that this sojourn at the Mexicana was so appalling that I have no urgent wish to return to Sharm, and would never recommend this hotel to another person. In fact, on the contrary, I would warn a prospective visitor away. Strongly.

| said: I visited this hotel with my boyfriend last summer. We enjoyed, however when talking to people at the hotel, many seemed not to have liked it so much. Food was nice, however did get a bit repetitive. Drinks were good - if you go all inclusive there was a choice of soft drinks (coke, 7 up and fanta), beer, wine (red and white), and local spirits - no cocktails!! Hotel staff were mainly very friendly! However, there were people who worked around the pool area who got quite annoying - prince the massage guy, as well as tattooists and others! If you don't want what they try to sell you make sure you tell them straight, otherwise there's no getting away from them!! Girls - watch out if you get a massage, don't be afraid to tell him not to message certain places if he tries to go there! Would definately recommend the poolside bbq - food was lovely (but would not recommend the seafood soup for starter!!). Outside the hotel, Naama bay is the best place to go for youngsters! Range of restaurants, bars, clubs. Not far from the hotel - about 5-10mins in taxi. Get to know the taxi drivers - we had one arranged by the hotel, then he gave us his mobile number so we could always use him. You may find some try to take advantage - one dropped us off at the shop he and his family owned and you felt you couldn't leave without buying something. This is the main problem in Sharm - everyone tries to make you buy things from them. You simply have to be straight with them or you'd end up spending a fortune!! We also went on a few trips and would say to make sure you do the following - day trip to Cairo to see the pyramids(try and hide your pillow in a bag to take on the bus as staff will not let you take it if they see you with it!). Scuba-diving - wish we had done this at the beginning of the holiday as it was so good, we would have done it a few times throughout our stay. We did this with the guy who comes around the pool!! Also went quad biking thorugh the desert - which is also a must!! Overall, would recommend this hotel - just be stern in general!!!

| said: I think it is very important that all potential visitors read this review. I had a nice stay generally at the hotel and although the pool side and restaurant staff were very cherrful and welcoming, there were some incidents which everyone should be aware.
The food for breakfast and lunch was very poor. Dinners on occassions were excellent however, but they tended to put all their eggs in one basket by serving their falafel, aubergines dishes, chicken, meat (the nicer ones) etc all on one night so you had to combine them all on one plate which was not ideal and yet on another night the choice was very sparse.
The service at the poolside was very slow but the waiters positive cheery manner more than made amends. The pool was kept very clean and the rooms too and the usual litte things of petals being left on your bed after cleaning etc made some very positive contributions.
We did have an incidence in our room for three consecutive nights of ant infestations which was not great though.
The biggest problem that all potential visitors must be aware of though occured on our departure and it should be taken very seriously.
In the morning at 10am I asked for our room to be extended for three hours due to our shuttle service arriving for our airport departure at 5 o'clock but the room expiring at 12 noon. This was arranged at the cost of £22. As I went to leave the reception area one of the reception staff waved scissors at me gesticulating that he needed to cut off my white wrist band which is provided to all inclusive guests to gain your free drinks and food etc.
He was extremely aggressive, but I said I am entitled to poolside bar drinks until 12 noon so it will come off then. He shouted across the recption area that I "cannot take lunch, that I will have to pay". The manner was unbelievably rude. When we came to check out later we explained that we had left our hotel pool side towels which are provided free of charge of the sun loungers last night and that in the morning they had been taken. We presumed that the poolside staff had taken them for cleaning. The hotel manager explained that they had not taken them and we would have to pay for them (£10 sterling). What then ensued was quite unacceptable. I (on prinipal stated) that no account should I have to pay the £10 because I had simply left them on a sun lounger. We spent 15 minutes on the reception area in heated exchange and the manager stated that I would not be able to leave the hotel unless this money was paid. There were four or five staff at the reception desk and an armed guard at the door all laughing and together and creating a very hostile environment. I said I was happy to pay my outstanding room bill of £70 sterling which I did and the manager held firm stating that 100 Egyptian pounds extra for the towels was required knowing that I had a plane to catch and that there was an armed guard at the door was he had gesticulated too durting our exchange, smirking. He was extremely rude and slammed phones and doors around and acted in the most intimidatory of manners. I cannot impress upon potential visitors the importance of considering other hotels.
At our only time of dispute and over the paltry some of £10 English pounds the manager was prepared to consent to my partner and I missing the plane for two quite shoddy towels that were provided for poolside use. If you do not have someone around that is able to translate for you the atmosphere understanable can be quite intimidating and the hotel manager clearly relied upon this, and I would suggest that this hotel cannot be relied upon to act with human decency if the manager behaves in this manner.
I can only strongly suggest that other hotels are therefore considered due to the behaviour of the management staff.
I explained that the issue was nothing to do with the money it was of principal and that I would definitely consider writing a poor review about the hotel if his continued agggression continued. He said it was not his problem and that I will not be allowed to leave unless the money was paid.
I can only assume that a hotel manager who does not care about his hotel's reputation can not really care hugely about the stay of the residents and will surely not therefore provide the necessary assistance to residents in time of need.
Please do consider these points.

The all inclusive package was more like full board and the food at the restaurant was "just edible", we ended up eating out most nights not what you expect to do at all inclusive hotels. Most of the staff were nice and pleasant.
The room was good and very clean but the cleaner expects a tip.
There is NO entertainment at all and nothing for kids. The hotel is in quiet location, so if you want to go out anywhere you have to get a taxi or use the hotels free shuttle bus.
Every thing you want to buy you have to barter for even taxis. I want to go back to Sharm el Sheikh but I would not stay at this hotel.

Breakast was omelettes,pancakes-salad-cakes-cereal and toast, plenty of tea/coffee/juices and the staff in the restaurant were all great.
Our room was cleaned daily and the guy who cleaned it did a good job, daily making us laugh by making swans, hearts, snakes out of our towels!!The hotel itself was also very clean,it seemed the staff were always cleaning,if not the pool then the gardens-rooms-just always cleaning!
Location was fine, around 5-10mins from naama bay in a taxi and the hotel has a taxi man in a red car who will take you for 25 egyptian pound(2.50)
Staff all seemed friendly, always happy to help you.
No entertainment at all but this didnt bother us as it was so cheao to go to naama bay. There was a dj around the pool daily who played a wide rnge of music.
We would use this hotel again!

| said: We stayed here for 1 week and it was excellent already booked to go again in April !!
The hotel was spotless and the rooms were cleaned everyday.
There is 2 pools which are both lovely one small and the other large.
The staff would do anything to help you and are really friendly they just need to move a bit quicker they are not in a hurry for anything.
Entertainment was limited but I think it's because most people go to Naama bay at night which is really good and I would recommend the Hard Rock cafe the food is lovely.
Food in the hotel was o.k the best thing was the pizzas which you can get any time off the day and they do room service if you just want to stay in for the night.
There is two beaches which the hotel runs shuttle buses for, Diamond beach and Mexicana beach there is also a free bus to take you to the old market and Naama bay but it's cheap enough just to get a taxi everywhere.
The hotel location is good it's only 10 minutes from the beaches, Naama bay and the market. There is shops round about you and a few cafes and stuff which means it gets quiet early as Naama bay is busy all the time.
This is a great hotel for families and couples and would recommend it to anyone!!

The grounds are nice and well maintained. The rooms furnished to a very hugh standard.
The pool was cleaned each night, the rooms cleaned every day.
Nice restaurant, not too much choice. If you were there for 14 nights there is not enough variation.
Staff were all lovely and helpful, can't do enough for you.
I am returning to this hotel in a few weeks and would recommend to family and friends.

| said: We enjoyed the hotel.
The staff could not do enough for us, it was spotlessly clean, beds changed every day, and they put little things on the beds, they rolled the towels up to make things, i.e, one day a crocodile, next a swan, we asked him to show us how to do it, and was quite willing to show us.
The food was ok, but we wish we had gone all inclusive.
The location was not very good, too far away from everywhere, but, they did have a shuttle bus to take you to the 2 beaches, the Mexicana, and Diamond beaches.
Entertainment is zero, you have to go into town. We got friendly with the staff, and a few of them took us to Fantasia, where they go for things like watching belly dancing etc. It was one of our birthdays, and the md of the hotel arranged a cake, and all the staff came up to sing to her. When she got badly bitten by bugs, they made sure she had creams, and went out of their way to see she was ok, they were lovely.

The All Inclusive package was disappointing and food was bland, with little variation. A few holiday-makers(us included)suffered stomach upsets throughout the duration of our stay. Although we understand this is not uncommom in Egypt...
The staff were not unpleasant by any means just very slow serving drinks, and a 'rinse' under the tap is a far as cleaning the plastic cups goes.
Our advice - Maybe better to stay self-catering.

| said: We had a great holiday at the Mexicana. The rooms in the hotel were spotless and to our suprise cleaned every day including new bedding and towels.
The breakfast was ok with plently of choice from fresh eggs and omelete's, salad, pancakes, cold meats, cereal and a little fruit. We normally stuck to the eggs and toast but the hotel tried to cater for all nationalities.
The staff were really friendly and always seemed to be on hand if you needed them.
The location was ideal for us and was only a short taxi ride into Naama Bay (Don't pay anymore that 20 or 25le).
We didn't use the hotel bus as the 1st one into Naama Bay was at 9pm. We knew before hand that there was no entertainment so this didn't bother us. They did have some entertainment on Monday nights and there was always a DJ on around the main pool during the day.
Whilst we were there it was my girlfriends 21st birthday and the hotel even brought her a birthday cake to our room which was a nice touch.
A word of warning though... the Italian restuarant at the front of the hotel was awful, everyone who ate there said the same so I would avoid this and go into Naama Bay.
The Pool bar had really nice pizza's if you got hungry in the afternoon. I wouldn't recommend All Inclusive here though - according to people who were there they didn't rate it highly as it was repetative and they didn't seem to grasp the all inclusive concept.

Lunch dinner all very repetertive and of poor quality
Food from pool bar ok but you have to pay for it.
Italian rest ok but extra charge for food and all drinks check bill they tried to charge for full price for all the food not just the supplement that was advised in welcome letter.
Steak House no longer available closed
Not happy with way staff wash glasses in just water under tap.
Bedrooms very large and fairly well looked after and the lay out of this place was great small pool very quite, plenty of sunbeds and free towels in pool area.
Most of the staff are ok
Would go back on room only or in a self-catering apartment as we liked the atmosphere here.

| said: My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment on B&B basis. We requested, and got, a pool view, upper floor apartment (hotel and apts are all only two floors but we still wanted an upper one). There are two pools, a smaller one which is surrounded by the Apts. and a large free form pool where the hotel rooms are situated and the 'pool bar' and main restaurant where breakfast and main meals are served.
Each pool is only a couple of minutes apart, through the beauitful gardens, which are very well maintained. The whole place is spotlessly clean and plent of sunbeds plus free towels for pool or beach use.
The apartment was clean, well furnished, large fridge and individual air conditioning in the bedroom and living room. Bathroom (shower only),was basic but clean. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels, and bedding changed regularly. TV with multi channels, and plenty of electric sockets. Large balcony with table and chairs.
Breakfast was very nice and we never had to queue, there was the same things each day, but ample choice for a good breakfast, No 'English Breakfast' available, other than fried eggs or omeletes (as many as you wanted!), plus fresh bread, unlimited tea or coffee. staff were very friendly and efficient, with plates etc cleared away quickly. You can eat inside (cooler) or on the terrace by the large pool.
The hotel has four restaurants, the main buffet restaurant, an Eygptian, a small 'Steak House' and a newly opened Italian, both next to the reception area.
There is a pleasant terrace bar just beyond the reception, and a pool bar (at large pool), with "swim up" seats one one side, this bar also serves snacks, pizzas, burgers etc, all very nice and quite cheap (£1.80 for pizza). Large bottle of water, and soft drinks were about 65p, BUT much cheaper from the small super market just at the nextdoor hotel ('Amar Sinai' I think?).
No problem with bring in your own stuff from the supermarket, although you have to go through the 'security' each time you enter or leave the hotel, AND the buzzer always goes off, the guy just smiles and waves you through!!!
There is a free hotel mini bus during the day to each of the two beaches. The Mexicana Beach is private for this hotel and is lovely and clean with sunbeds, umberellas and a beach bar serving snacks, but no coral reef at this beach.
Diamond Beach is the one for the divers etc, but much busier and not as pretty. The free bus also runs to from Na'ama bay twice in the evening, (at 9 and 10, returning at 9.30 and 11). You need to be outside the front of the hotel about 10 mins prior to ensure you get a seat, we did not have to pre-book the bus but you may have to in high season?
Overall, we could not fault this hotel for a relaxing holiday in beautiful grounds, in a quite location, yet only 10 mins in a taxi (£2.50 - £3) to lively central Na'ama Bay.
We would certainly return, but there is no entertainment at this hotel, only the bar, and you do need to 'go out' to Na'ama for shopping, nightlife etc.

There was no evening entertainment, but round the pool through the day there was music and massage (payable).

The hotel was very clean and staff friendly and helpful.
Hotel was very quiet, lot of sunbeds available around pool.
Bedrooms were large and kept very clean.
Swimming pools were fab, but one a bit cold the other heated. Pool bar had excellant pizza's and burgers, very cheap and good.
Taxis into Naama Bay cost about £2, very easy, and free shuttle bus to beach.
Only downside to this hotel was no evening entertainment, but we went into Naama Bay or hotel next door.
We would definitely visit this hotel again.

The hotel was very nice and clean and the staff were very friendly. Could not ask for more.
I would return to this hotel and resort.
Breakfast was a little hit and miss but the pool bar was excellent value for money and good quality.
It's a short free bus ride from Naama bay and I would say go.

Don't go.
