| said: This is a lovely looking hotel and rooms are very nice and very clean, pool area is good and there is always something going on round the pool.
Please watch out if you are going to this hotel though, on the first morning round the pool my purse was stolen out of my bag, also my room key and safe key, they went in our room and took cash, credit cards, travellers cheques, jewelery, dvd player. Somebody had definatly been watching me as they knew exactly where in my bag which was on a buggy that I had put my purse. Hotel didn't really seem that bothered about it, as we had nothing I asked for alll inclusive just till we could get some money sorted out, was told no, the manager wouldn't even come out from his office to talk to me.
Just keep an eye on where you are leaving you things round the pool and someone may be watching.

The food was the only thing that didn't impress us (variety, not much vegerarian food, mostly the same dishes)

| said: Hotel is at the edge of the resort.
The front of hotel overlooking an industrial area and oil refinery.
Hotel looks impressive but more like a Holiday inn Express.
Walls are paper thin, we could hear the people snoring in the next room, the air conditioning was excellent though.
Dining room like a motorway service station, poor service, not much variety, cheap cuts of meat and lukewarm food.
We stayed October half-term and everything in the surrounding area was shut apart from two local bars.
We had to get the bus to Salou every night as the hotel entertainment was rubbish and drinks were expensive. There is a nice prom but full of grotty hotels, British bars and souvenier shops.
Good points- The bus service is excellent and cheap and runs till late at night, taxis expensive though, cost 35 euros from airport which is only 10km. Theme park ok for a day out but don't get a week pass not worth it. You can get round it in two days max. Take a tour bus to Barcelona you don't need to book just get on at a bus stop.

| said: Just arrived home from Gran Hacienda Hotel, had a brill time.
This is probably one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in, maids coming in every day to tidy rooms, hotel and pool area spotless.
The food was good for the first few days but then did get a bit repetitive and also found that it was never very hot but always plenty of choice, fish, meat salad etc.
Loved the location. It's the first hotel as you come into Pineda so you're not in the heart of everything but it was a nice 20-25 walk into Pineda for shops bars restaurants.
Staff were ok but the entertainment was rubbish for English people, they did cater a lot for the Spanish that were there.
They have waterpolo, volleyball and footbal during the day but evening was rubbish.
We would definitely go back because we love the resort and the hotel was good nice for a relaxing break.
We stayed all inclusive which was really good, drinks all day and food from the pool bar if you wanted it.

| said: We stayed in the La Gran Hotel Hacienda on a half board basis for 2 weeks which looks lovely from the outside.
Rooms are ok but not huge for a 4 * hotel. There were 2 double beds side by side & not much room left, TV with 2 English-speaking channels, CNN news & German MTV that had lots of American programmes. Great to keep the kids amused when in the room. There was very little wardrobe space or drawers, certainly not enough for 4 adults which these rooms can accommodate. Air con was brilliant, in fact this was the best thing about this hotel.
Entertainment was rubbish for a 4 * hotel. There was a kids club but my daughter did not want to go. Probably coz it was mostly Spanish kids that were in the hotel. It was on in the morning from 10.30 for about 2 hours I think & then again in the afternoon for an hour or so. In the evening there was a mini disco for kids from approx. 9pm for about 45 mins. After this there was other entertainment which I think we stayed for twice & then had an early night. This was a man on the stage singing & playing a keyboard & the other night there were some dancers. Oh and the entertainment staff have nights where they play games, do bingo and the like. All in all – rubbish.
Food was appalling for a 4 * hotel. Breakfast was ok for the first few days as it was a novelty having a fry up in the morning (normally I just grab a coffee on the way to work), there was the usual beans, bacon, eggs, sausages, cereals, bread etc. I am all for variety and people having different tastes but reproducing the green beans with carrots that people did not eat the night before again for breakfast is just awful. There were a variety of pastries which were nice but it was the same lay out every single morning. We went out for our breakfast quite a few mornings.
Dinner was the same as breakfast, ok for the first few nights but then it was repeated night after night. Again we went out for quite a few evenings. There is a kids section for dinner which every night had chips, pizza & pasta & then there was a deep fried option, ie. Fish fingers, chicken nuggets & the like. Ok if your child likes this but my daughter tends to want more healthy type of food. Not much variety. There was a good choice of salads & cold meats. Hot food was rubbish. Again same thing night after night. The meat was either full of bones or full of fat. The desserts were nice but again it was the same every single night. Not my idea of food that should be in a 4 * hotel. I think I have gone on enough about food and would give it one word - RUBBISH !!
Pool area was ok but not big enough. There were lots of beds but not nearly enough umbrellas. I think I counted about 23 for a hotel which has 260 rooms. There is a Jacuzzi which was good.
On the day we left to go home there was nowhere for us to shower which I thought put the icing on the cake for this rubbish hotel. Guests can shower in the indoor swimming pool area but what they don’t tell you is that you can only use it between 9am – 1pm & then again from 3pm until 7pm I think. I wanted to use it at 2pm & was told no, I asked about using a room & again told no. I was told I could use the showers at the pool side ! Not impressed at all.
This hotel is more like a 2 * hotel for the food, entertainment & umbrellas but given the fact that the air con is excellent I would give it a 3 * but at the lower end of the 3 star scale.
Would I return here or recommend the hotel - never !!

| said: First of all, I don't think this hotel is a 4 star hotel. Thats not to say the hotel isn't nice, its just lacking that something extra.
The pool area was very clean and quite quiet when we were there, and all the bar staff were very friendly, even taking the time to correct my awful attempts at spannish!
The food was a bit hit and miss, breakfast not all that good, although the evening meals were very nice. As previously mentioned no baby chairs which was a bit frustrating.
Unless you are AI, drinking in the hotel is a bit of an expensive business and not recommended.
Internet still not working in June, again as previously mentioned, reception staff don't want to know. Reception staff were a let down, it seemed like you were an inconvience to them, not a very friendly welcome.
The rooms however were spotlessly clean, and much larger than I would have thought, containing to double beds. We had the view looking towards Port Aventura, just don't look the other way towards the BASF chemical factory, bit of an eyesore. Again all the maids very friendly in the morning.
They do seem to be trying in some areas, just lacking in others, if this was a 3 star hotel it would get 5's across the board.

Food repetative, but OK, excellent presentation taste not quite as good. Dishes and plates sometimes a little dirty, especially cups and glasses.
No high chairs for babies in restaurant - very poor indeed for that.
Room good, clean, nice balcony.
reception staff not interested, verging on the rude. Restaurant staff very nice, especially to kids.
hotel is a little out of resort centre (bearable 10 mins walk), but one of the nicest hotels I have found in Spain.
Internet never worked when I was there - reception staff said nothing to do with them - but nothing was to do with them !!!
A great hotel spoiled by the usual not my problem attitude of reception staff.

The rooms were just perfect with large comfortable beds and fully air conditioned, which was a bonus as the weather was extremely hot.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and resort to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with their family.

| said: Stayed at the La Hacienda the last 2 weeks of August and loved every moment of our stay.
On arrival we were told that are room wasn't available until midday which was ok as it had to be cleaned. The rooms are truly spacious with 2 double beds and not at all cramped.
The air conditioning was great as the weather was very hot. I would advise you pack lots of hangers as there were only 6 in our wardrobe. Fridge and safe can be hired but I am not sure how much this costs.
The pool are is lovely and we never had a problem getting a sunbed but alot of people do reserve them. Food was delicious and varied. There was always a good selction to chose from and the desserts were heavenly. Bar prices were a little bit on the dear side eg 4.5 euros for Tia Maria, 2 euros for a small bottle of coke but then again you usually pay dearer in a hotel.
English, Spanish, Russian, Greek all stayed in the hotel so there was always lots of different languages spoken around the pool. The hotel run mini club was excellent for our 8 and 4 year olds.
The hotel deseves its 4 star status and it was a delight to stay here. Highly recommend and would certainly stay here again.

Restraunt could get very busy and you might have to search for a table and wait for it to be cleaned.Night time entertainment was fair to good.Children loved pool area and there were good activities during the day.
Sun loungers were taken from very early but there was a pool attendant removing towels if they were not being used. Nice and quiet resort area. Would recommend to families and someone looking for quiet relaxing holiday.
Don't forget to visit Roman town of Tarragona 10 mins away by bus, lots of roman sites to see there.

The food was of a good variety although the service in the restaurant was slightly disappointing as the hotel became busier but soon picked up.
The bar staff were lovely especially Victor who was so lovely. reception staff were most helpful. other staff were not good at english but this was accpetable as the hotel is very much spanish.
The location is good distance from beach and a slight walk into town but good for keeping fit. Bus service brilliant to Cambrils and Salou etc.
Entertainment not all that good of a night unless peck peck wood is your thing.
Definitely worth visiting- very nice hotel.

Food was ok but not always as warm as should have been.
Only real gripe about the hotel was the shortage of beds around the pool and the very few umbrellas available. We resorted to buying our own and sticking them in the plant holders!

Hotel clean and very impressive, a bit out of town but near enough to walk to bars, restaurants etc. Hotel bars ok but closes at 12, bar manager not very helpful but all other staff brilliant.
Restaurant is buffet style and food barely warm and very disappointing, we ate out each night even though we had paid for food. Most dishes very 'messed about with' for example, bacon in the peas, meat in with scrambled egg, nothing served up plain and simple and no choice whatsoever for vegetarians. Small charge for room safe which is fine and also small charge for room fridge but be warned the keys for the fridges are all the same so if you go in a group, just pay for one fridge key!
Probably would visit this hotel again but on a room only basis.

| said: Booked our own flights with Ryanair from Stansted to Reus and hotel via Winter Sunshine Holidays. Travelled 30th March-6th April 2005.
La Hacienda is on the edge of the quieter La Pineda away from the hustle and bustle of Salou. Good for families , not so good if you want to party. Good bus connections to Tarragona right outside the hotel but more difficult to get to Barcelona.
We made the mistake of driving in Barcelona - not recommended! Lovely beaches and very quiet (out of season) but still warm enough for shorts and t-shirt, only a 3-5 minute walk from hotel. As for the hotel staff excellent, food excellent, facilities excellent.
For indoor pool you need to pay 1 euro per person for a towel and also need a swimming cap but you can get these on site. Didn't use the outdoor pool due to time of year but lovely to laze around the pool in the sun while the kids played footbal or tennis on the nearby courts (within sight of the pool), our kids were 8 and 11 and although both are fussy eaters there was plenty of choice in the restaurant - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Had a pool view with and rooms were very clean, as you would expect from a hotel only 2 years old. Food was amazing, i'm very picky when i'm abroad but the meat dishes and desserts were out of this world.
Hotel is around 200 metres from beach and is just off the main road into La Pineda. Very very impressive facard and the reception is stunning.
I went end September and the hotel was winding down, hotel entertainers were only there for 2 days and then they finished for the winter so cannot comment much on the entertainment side of things.
Swimming pools were pefect and poolside bar served lovely meals very reasonable prices as well.La Pineda is a lot quiter than Salou which suited us,10 mins on a bus and youre in the center of Salou anyhow.
Port Aventura was just 5 mins away in taxi or 30 mins in bus(long way round),water park 10 mins walk. Will be returning to this hotel next year for sure.If youre reading this and aint booked go for it,you wont regret it.
