| said: My wife, her friend and I have just returned from the Hotel Heron in Lido de Jesolo. The Hotel is designated 3 star but falls far short of the standard of other 3 star hotels we are used to.
The rooms are adequate and we have very little fault with them other than the fact that my wife’s friend had to pay a single room supplement. I thought the object of this supplement was to compensate a hotel if only one person occupied a double room, thereby losing revenue. If the room is capable of taking one person only, as in this case, I cannot see the justification for the supplement.
Meals in the hotel were a joke at first but soon became less amusing, as every item that would normally be hot was at best lukewarm. For breakfast it was bread rolls, two types of meat, slices of processed cheese and scrambled egg, very cool scrambled egg at that.
The evening meal, which had been ordered the night before, was a hit and miss affair. The same vegetables nearly every night, all cool, with the sole female member of the waiting staff the only one who appeared to be interested in giving good service. By the end of the week many guests were opting to eat elsewhere.
The hotel bar opened if anyone could be found to serve in it. On the last night the bar was closed at 9.30 as the barman thought nobody wanted drink. I know that we stayed there the last week of the season in Lido de Jesolo, but we paid full price for a normal service, not a running down service.
The one plus was Laura the Airtours rep. She was very efficient and always on time. It is a pity for everyone's sake that she is giving it all up.
So all in all, what was a holiday in a very good resort and close to some woderful and interesting places was spoiled by a less than satisfactory hotel.
