Just returned from the Vista Picas & seeingas though I booked the holiday from advice from this page thought I had better write a review!

The apartments are lovely! They are really clean & the pool area was spotless.

The childrens pool was great and it was shallow enough for our 2 year old to jump in!

The apartments had entertainment on most nights & we managed to watch a few.

Would definately go back to the apartments again.

My partner and I have just returned from Cala n Forcat were we stayed at the Vista Picas appartments. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, (sorry I can't remember her name)who directed us to our apartments and also gave us the necessary information of the local resort.

Our apartments were well equiped, and very clean. Had room service twice in one week. The week we were there the weather was very hot, so during the night even though we had the windows open, it was hot.

Air conditioning would have made it better, but fans were available for rent, which we did use. Plenty of entertainment on site, but we prefare to use the resort, so didn't get to see all that was available.

The Restaurant, we had only a few small snacks there, but plenty available if you wished to stay on site. All staff very friendly.

what can i say, what a brilliant place to base your holiday from,

try to avoid apts no 113-118 & 213-218 as these are the ones closest to the Blue Breeze, i think the next block might also suffer a little from the noise, rooms 119-124 & 219-224 (rooms in the 100 range are downstairs, 200 range are upstairs), we stayed in 226 and didnt hear anything from the blue breeze.

the apartments are well equipped and spacious enough for a family of four, i like the seperate little kitchen area even though the only thing we cooked there was toast :).

the room was clean when we arrived and the cleaners did a good job during the week.

the hotel staff were very friendly and eager to help you.

there are 2 internet enabled computers in the bar seating are/tv room which are i think about €1 for each 10 minute period which is enough for checking your e-mails and stuff, plenty of things for the kids and a sort of kids club which has different daily activities such as organised football or pool competitions etc.., the one thing that annoyed the hell out of me was the way that BRITISH people at this hotel were putting towels on sunbeds from early morning and not using them until late afternoon, i felt like throwing them in the water...wish i had done now, other than that, the pool was brilliant with a seperate kids splash/paddling section.

we only ate once at the restaurant and then it was only a snack so i cannot comment on the food but the menu seemed to have a good range on offer.

overall, if i was going to return to Cala 'N' forcat, i would make a point of ensuring i booked this hotel, for me and my family it was great.

Contact info,
the telephone number of the hotel is (+34) 971-388220 and the receptionists name is Lyndsay Machin

their e-mail address is "vistapicas@msn.com"

Fantastically clean & spacious apartments.
Great Location, only disadvantage being at the far end of the complex is being right next door to Blue Breeze & Night Fever which party on till 4/5am!! Not too much of a problem if you dont have kids but something to be aware of.
Plenty of supermarkets/restaurants/bars in immediate area & definately worth walking round to Los Delfines!!
Barbeque on site on Friday is excellent, staff great & very helpful if something is not quite right for you.

We had the most wonderful holiday in May at the Vista Picas Apartments. I am rather fussy about cleanliness in accomodation on holiday but these apartments were fabulous. Particularly spacious - especially the bedroom with 2 double wardrobes and adequate drawer space. They even had enough coat hangers, which is a first in my experience. Pool area again very clean and we never struggled to get a sunbed. Jasmine is there between 11am - 3pm to entertain the young ones with things such as painting, art, games and making things. The bar serves really nice food and in the evening there is always an entertainment programme. All hotel staff very helpful. Location of Vista Picas apartments is ideal being literally a 2 minute wald from all main attractions.

Our apartment on arrival was situated overlooking the swimming pool on the ground floor with a lovely patio area and grass verge. All apts are no more than 1st floor. The rooms were all spacious enough and the kitchen area although on the small size was fine and the Cooker/Oven worked without any problems all. Be careful of the hot water from the Kitchen & Bathroom taps as it can get extremely hot within seconds. No air conditioning in the rooms but this wasn't a problem as the rooms were always at a cool temperature and no portable fans were needed for purchase. We found the apts to be very clean and were cleaned about twice a week.

We went self catering but ate at the Restaurant on more than one occasion and all was very nice. The only small complaint was that the Restaurant was closed between 3 pm and 6 pm (bar always open) but plenty of other bars, cafes, restaurants close by should the need arise.

The apts were situated in a great location and there is a Burger King opposite plus 2 Supermarkets within a 2 min walk. Bars and restaurants all close by plus many more on the street behind. All the bar staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

There is a Kids club run every day from 11 am till 3 pm by Jasmin who was really good with the kids and varied the activities. Making and the drawing things inside the onsite kids club room as well as a treasure hunt. She even organised a small birthday party for a boy who was 9 years old and all the kids and parents joined in.

Entertainment at night was also run by Jasmin and there is a mini disco at 8 pm every night followed by light hearted quizzes and Bingo. Some type of show is on after these 3 times a week. One night was 'Mr Vista Picas' which was a great laugh (glad I didn't volunteer for that !) as well as a Disney show with Dancers. There is a kids games room with all the usual things in to keep them amused and there is a play area with slides and swings on grass. The are 2 computers in the bar that have Internet access.

We would definitely visit these Apartments again and recommend them for couples and families. As soon as our holiday had finished we decided to book again for next year but for 2 weeks instead of 1.

Firstly, I decided to book these apartments after reading all the many comments written about it. What can I say, it certainly lived up to its reputation. It was fab.

On arrival we were given an apartment at the front of the complex (near to the bars), we were abit worried about the noise but needn't have been as it was fairly quiet, settling down by about midnight. This may be different though in high season so I recommend asking for a apartment at the back of the complex if noise bothers you.

The complex itself was exceptionally clean, the pool area very spacious with loads of sunbeds and umbrella's.
The apartment itself was fairly spacious but if you're anything like us then you don't spend much time in it.

The kitchen area is quite small but we only used the fridge and the sink (mind the water, its very hot). We had a little trouble with ants but this was quickly sorted out by reception who are excellent in everyway.

The restaurant/bar staff are excellent and the few meals we had there were very good especially the barbeque on a Friday night.

The entertainment is run by Jasmin, who is very hard working and great with the children. They have a kids club 11 till 3 where they can paint, play pass the parcel, dance and generally have a good time. Parents remain responsible for their children at all times.

The night time entertainment consists of a mini disco for the children, bingo, quiz's and acts about 3 times a week. The Bee Gees tribute band and Lord of the dance were particularly good and the Magician was excellent, the kids loved him.

I would say the hotel is located centrally within the resort and there are many nice restaurants and bars to choose from, most with bouncy castles, swings, slides and playhouses to keep the children happy.

We hired a car for three days and travelled around the Island, definately recommended. We also visited the water park which is about 5 minutes walk away. Quite pricey at 16 euros for adults and 9 for children (plus extra for sunbeds and umbrellas), but we spent the day there and definately got our moneys worth.

My two are five and one and had a fantastic time, so much so that the five year old is hounding us to book again for next year, which we definately will.

Next time though we'll book for 2 weeks instead of one.

I will make this report as comprehensive as poss, cos if you’re like me I attach a lot of importance to these sites before I book any where:-

Complex cleanliness... Probably the cleanest and tidiest complex I have ever stayed in.

This is a small complex, and it really does depend on your holiday requirements, but it is a low key, quiet complex. Not too overcrowded. One or two areas border bars and play areas of the main resort and it may be worth phoning them in advance and asking for an apartment away from these areas as I did, because it can remain quite noisy till quite late.

This is not an action packed 24 hour a day all entertainment provided complex, but is very relaxed with a great family atmosphere. They do have shows 3 times a week which vary from average to superb. Otherwise children’s daytime club and evening mini disco/bingo and quiz nights are all provided by the very overworked but very lovely Caroline whom all the kids adore.

The complex has one bar and a restaurant very nice food and reasonably priced. It has one small games room and a small children’s play area which really needs a little updating now.

The pool area is very nice with a dedicated children’s area. No problems getting a sunbed or good spot (still didn’t stop some people getting up at the crack of dawn though reserving them)

The apartments are of a good size and well equipped.

The resort:-

Firstly if you are a beach guru think twice about this resort, it has 4 small coves with very little sandy areas.
Calan Forcat is the islands biggest resort but don’t expect an Ibiza. It has plenty of restaurants and bars which are reasonably priced, about on average 6 euros per adult and 3 euros for a child meal. Alcohol is perhaps a little cheaper than England. Lots of gift shops etc every bar has a bouncy castle for the kids but charge3/4 euros to use so quite a lot can be spent here.

We made lots of friends, so did the kids. And not one chavvy snooty teenager at the Vista Picas, it’s not really their type of place.

We met so many people who were visiting these apartments for the 2nd/3rd 4th times etc and that really says a lot, we would certainly go back, we really can not fault the place at all.

Hope this helps you choose your holiday

Apartments were nice, clean and spacious enough for a family of 4. There was no hairdryer but did have an iron and ironing board. Kitchen was well equipped, including a corkscrew! I would have preferred a full oven instead of mini oven provided, I thought this was dangerous for small children.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

I didn’t use entertainment or bar/restaurant service so cannot comment on these.

The pool area was lovely, never crowded and plenty of sunbeds.

Unfortunately our apartment was next to bouncy castles (on main road, not in the complex) so was noisy till 12.30am each evening. Small playground located next to our apartment was ideal for my 2 toddlers.

All areas kept clean and tidy. We did experience strange noises whenever we or someone nearby used taps, annoying and loud in the middle of the night!

All in all, I would recommend these apartments, ideally placed on the outskirts of the Cala’n Forcat resort.

Just arrived back from the Vista Picas after a 2 week stay.

We really could not find any faults at all.

The apartments were compact but very clean.

The pool area and pools were cleaned daily and the overall appearance was very pleasant.

We never really ate at the Vista Picas apart from the odd snack, but what we did have was very nice and not over priced.

The location is perfect. There is a supermarket across the road and the main centre for shops, bars and retaurants is virtually a 2 minute walk.
There are loads of places to eat which we found were all very friendly and very well priced.

All the hotel staff were very friendly and polite.
I noticed that our fridge was not working on the first day and after telling reception about this, it was fixed within the hour.

There was no official kids club this year but Caroline kept all the kids entertained during the day. There was entertainment at night but as we went out we could not really comment on this, although something seemed to be happening every night.

We will definitely be going back to the Vista Picas.

We had a very nice relaxing holiday, we were always able to get a sunbed and everyone was so friendly.

We had a great holiday. Very clean hotel, yummy food, great location, friendly staff and hilarious entertainment(and not always because it was supposed to be, but it entertained nether the less!!!).

Caroline the entertainer is great and gets all the kids involved in the "mini disco" and games at the beginning of the evening which makes them feel included.

We would certainly visit this hotel again if visiting Menorca.

What can I say apart from get me back there A.S.A.P. The place is spotless, it is not just the very friendly & hard working staff it is the guests as well.

It was our 1st time but other guests go year after year & so treat the place with respect, not like some of the chav filled places I have stayed. My two daughters (15 &17) made some good friends.

The apartment are in a good spot just a short stroll from the resort centre. What can I say just go & see for your self (or better still don't go then it won't get booked up for us next year)

Well what can I say everything was good - will definitely go back. Only thing letting it down in July was the lack of air conditioning. Whole complex was very clean good entertainment and pleasant staff.

Good meals. There were plenty of bars and restaurants 2-5mins walk. Try El Patio for an excellent meal, 10mins walk.

Bus to Cituidalla cheap and bus stop right outside reception, 20mins on the bus. Had some fab meals by the harbour.

Just returned home after a fantastic 2 weeks away again. Worries from last year regarding lack of Thompson Kids Club were unfounded, it was better without! Caroline the resident entertainer was fantastic, and unlike the kids clubs she got the children of all ages playing together so much so that it continued into the evening and the bigger children played pool etc with the smaller children and looked after them. Tito & Chris in the bar/restaurant were as fantastic as ever as were all the other hard working waiters & chefs.

Looking to get 2 weeks off in August 2007 tomorrow so I can rebook for the 4th year running.

We are regular visitors to Vista Picas, and love it!! We were a little disappointed with entertainment this year as there was not much going on!!

Was lovely to see Chris & the boys again.

We were delighted with the cleanliness and layout of the Vista Picas.

We had a ground floor apt which was wonderful as we could just walk from our patio to the pool, like having your own private pool, in fact quite often I was the only person in the pool, it being early in the season and the pool not really having warmed up yet.

The bar staff were particularly helpful and friendly, special thanks to Mickey and Chris for making our holiday so special. Anyone staying there has to watch the guests v waiters football, it is quite a sight.

The food, though quite a small menu, is wonderful, my girls loved the omelette's and we had nothing that wasn't excellent quality.

All in all an excellent holiday, I'm already looking to book again for later in the year.

We stayed in a one-bedroomed ground floor apartment at the Vista Picas complex for the October half term holiday last week. The apartments are all arranged in 7 V-shaped blocks around a large swimming pool area and we found our apartment clean, spacious and well-equipped with a patio and small garden area in front.

The kitchen had a 4-ring electic hob, a toaster and a small portable electric oven plus all the utensils and cutlery you need for self-catering. There was even an iron and ironing board provided though the absence of an electric kettle in a 3-star complex seemed a little odd. The comfortable king-size bed was a welcome surprise though and makes a change from some of twin rock-slab beds you sometimes get in other apartments.

One not-so-pleasant surprise on arrival was finding a nest of garden ants decamped between the dining area window and the shutters so I had to deal with those on the first day. Other little niggles were that the patio light didn't work and the patio door latch didn't lock though I was able to fix that myself. The tight-fitting front door was also difficult to open from the inside because there wasn't a proper internal door handle, only a tiny little latch knob to pull on. More importantly though the smoke detector battery was dead and had been disconnected so it doesn't look like these are being checked very regularly.

Although there are several supermarkets just across the road from the complex, we had hired a car for the whole holiday and found prices cheaper at the SYP supermarket on the road to Ciutadella and more choice at the Diskont Hipermercado supermarket on the road to Cala'n Bosch.

We had a great holiday enhanced by the excellent weather last week. We liked the complex and the apartments despite the little niggles with our particular apartment. These were all reported and will hopefully be sorted by the time the complex reopens for business. As several other holidaymakers we spoke to had no problems at all with their apartments we would consider staying here again though probably only out of the main summer season again.

First time in Minorca, people at the Vista Picas were very friendly and helpful.

Bar staff excellent and always pleased to see you. Entertainment was good, the magician made the holiday as he had to ad-lib for several minutees. Hired a car, cost varies from place to place, please look.

Visited most of the island, and found an excellent Minorcan restuarant 'El Patio' in Cala'n Blanes a twenty minute walk from the apartments. It is worth the stroll passing the usual tourist traps. It is a family run business and you are treated as one of the family!

Would recommend this location as the new road system being built makes it great for discovering this unique island.

Only tip take your time and slow down and enjoy an island which we will visit again.

Having taken off from Norwich in the pouring rain we knew that the weather in Mahon had to be a vast improvement.

Being picked up from the Airport was a breeze- we were directed to our coaches by a Thomson Rep and told a bit about the Menorcan Culture on the way to the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by even more smiling faces, explaining about entertainment and facilities in the complex. We were then directed to the apartment which was to be our home for the next week.

The first thing we noticed as we entered our new accommodation was the welcoming, clean smell. The floors and walls were absolutely spotless and the beds were made immaculately. They were then remade every 2-3 days. The towels were also replenished on these days.

The children loved going to kidszone everyday- it was fun and they learnt things they didn't know before. My youngest child - determined not to be left out of the fun -also learnt to swim.

The night time entertainment was wonderful - especially the tribute to Christina, Britney and Tina Turner. Everybody was up and singing - even the children. The bingo was enjoyable enough - though would have been easier to concentrate on if there hadn't been music constantly playing in the background.

The highlight of our holiday was definitely meeting up with new people. The whole family made new friends and the children were often inseparable from their new playmates. Ideally the game room was right next to the bar/dining area- so whilst we adults enjoyed the entertainment the children could amuse themselves too.

Caroline (the main entertainer) was a great laugh and loads of fun to talk to. She kept the daytime activities running smoothly with various pool games in the afternoons.

I would definitely come back to Vista Picas and the atmosphere was exactly what a holiday should be - lively, carefree and fun!

These apartments are lovely and clean, maid changed towels and bedding every two days or so. The areas around the pools and bar etc are again very clean, the pool area was jet washed almost every day. We had the occasional meal in the bar (recommend the Fri night BBQ)and they were good value for money. Vista Picas is located just on the edge of the centre of Cala n Forcat, absolutely ideal !!

There's loads of space around the big pools and no battling for sunbeds, although some guests did set their alarms early to ensure they got 'their' spot - sad people.

Staff were very friendly and typically worked hard and long hours, all english speaking, they even play the guests at 5 a side on a weekly basis.

We had no real expectations about entertainment but would say that Caroline one of the reps worked extremely hard keeping us entertained. Some of the acts were 'ok' and some (especially Enigma the magician) were superb.

We went on a late deal as usual but we now specify that we need named accommodation , and the vista picas seemed ok according to reviews.

We were delayed going out and arrived late , so we werent in the best of moods , but the staff were friendly and helped with the bags etc.

The apartment was great , really big and clean , and the facilities were great for the money , especially as we had paid less than half of what other similar families had .
the pool is great and the sunbeds are free and plentiful - the odd person or two did put towels on them and then leave for lunch/a kip etc , but being the guy I am , I just took their towels off and used the beds anyway , merely saying to them on their return that I thought they must have been germans or something , because us brits arent that ignorant..........works every time.

The complex is perfect for kids of all ages and the reps are great, they are attentive and actually do go out of their way to help you.

I would return without question and would gladly pay full price.
The food in the restaurant is good , especially the friday bbq, and the drinks are decent prices too. Lovely wine and sangria.
Overall its perfect for a family holiday, even if the night time entertainment can be a bit ropey....but what hotel has good entertainment??

Its lovely.....try it.

Location was in the right place not to near the bars and not to far away easy access to all. Hotel staff were very friendly and always happy to help Caroline the rep did a great job entertaining through out the day and evening the live shows could have been a little better though big thank you to the girls at the kids club especially sarah she was great with the kids.

Thank you for a great time. Look forward to seeing you again.

The Vista Picas was the best place I have ever been.

It was so clean and the staff were so friendly, my in-laws has been there last year so we came with them this year it was brill.

It was right in the middle of Cala Forcat which was very good.

The pool was the best I had seen with plenty of free sunbeds.

I can not wait to go back next year!!!!!

First things first I am in a wheelchair but I am slightly able bodied therefore I can move myself about a bit.

The hotel is very clean with no graffiti or rubbish about.

The food is great with large portions at a good price.

It is quite a walk to any of the beaches but the pool is large but with no ramp or hoist for the disabled.

All of the staff are exceptionally helpful and are always in high spirits.

The entertainment is on 3 times a week but we found it very poor we found the bingo and quizzes a better option.

We will be going back next year as we have been searching for about 4 years to find one this good.

On arrival at the complex we were greeted with a warm welcome by all the staff and immediatly felt at home!

It just got better, the apartments were clean, spacious and comfortable. Pool area huge for amount of apartments and everyone can have a sunbed!!

Entertainer Emma worked day & night 6days a week to keep us all busy, she managed to get everyone joining in and having fun!!

Bar staff Pepe, Cris, Juan, Dito, & Sam were great and all speak English!!

The resort was nice and child orientated but didnt venture out alot as everything is provided in complex you dont have to go anywhere!

10 out of 10 for a lovely holiday.

We have been coming to Vista Picas since the very beginning 6 years ago, and it just gets better!!

The place is still spotless and the staff so friendly and know the whole family on name terms!! It's home from home!!

We were delighted to see that Emma had returned to be the entertainer again this summer, as she was a big miss in 2003!! She had us all up and joining in her mad game shows & party dances till 12 midnight!

We will be back in August 2005!!

Vista Picas was the cleanest hotel accomodation we have ever stayed in. Close to the supermarkets but far enough away from bars to stop noise but not so far as they are not walkable.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Emma the hotel entertainer was fantastic and the acts that were booked were also very good.
Where ever you went on the resort you felt safe as there were no clubs so no lager louts.
The kids are still talking about it now and yes we have booked up for Vista Picas in 2005!!

The Vista Picas apartments are the best that we have stayed in. This was the third time we have been back and we have already booked again for next year. The amount of people that you see each year that keep coming back really says it all. The staff are really nice and the standard of cleanliness is wonderful. The pool area is a good size and never seems crowded.

These apartments are the best I've stayed in. They are huge and really well equiped. The staff at this place made our holiday, especially Emma the entertainer. We had such a great time I'm booking straight up for next year. Nearly everyone we met had either stayed at Vista Picas before or came on recomendation, and I think that speaks for itself!

The apartments were very clean, apart from a few ants towards the end of the holiday. The location of the apartments was spot on, not to near the noisy bars but close enough for the supermarkets. The bar staff were wonderful and couldnt do enough for you, entertainment night and day was also very good. Went on the island trip, very good especially the trip up Monte Toro!, wonderful views. Ciutadella a lovely place (bus stops right outside apartments). San Juan festival in June is brilliant, hundreds of men on horses ride through the narrow streets, locals go mad!. Not suitable for small children though as can be a bit scarey with the crowds.
