Went to VP end of july this year and was frankly appalled at this hotel. I chose VP due to all the good comments on this site. 1st impressions of hotel was badly dated (although the rooms was clean). Location is ideal in the day due to lovely beach few hundred feet away but night time is desolate. Most people tended to stay at hotel for entertainment but this was terrible with a capital T. If you want a sunbed then be prepared to claim one before 8am and once you have the bed be prepared to have next person 10'' away as there is no space between due to overcrowding. There is a lot for younger kids to do with thomsons kids club in the evening but beware you will need to queue an hour before booking time as they only take a max of 30 kids!! Food was terrible with limited choice, veg overcooked and meat flooded with gravy, the plates and cuterlery was old and dirty and worst of all a cockroach was seen in foodhall only to be stepped on by waiter. (later cleaned up after complaint)In my honest opinion this hotel scrapes the 3 star rating by a whisker....Never again

This hotel was spotlessly clean at all times, Rooms cleaned daily and Towels changed every day. Cleaners very friendly and helpful.

We opted to hire a Frindge for the week, for 3 euro's a day it mean't we could have cold drinks in our room.
Safe in the room was ideal for locking valuables away, just for peice of mind.

Food was plentiful and a good variety too, it was always very well laid out and always hot. Buffets style which was great because it mean't that you could try a bit of every thing.

Hotel location good for sun or beach worshipers not so much for those that like the shops, not many of those to choose from near by but hey your on holiday. forget the shops for a week!!

Entertainment was fun, my son loves music and dancing so he was in his element, Entertainment staff were fantastic too. altogether 15 reps on site all day every day except mondays (their day off) everyones entitled to a day off aye.

We met some great families whilst on holiday and plan to keep in touch.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for Sun, Sea, Sand and lots of fun.

Very clean and friendly hotel. Food was great, buffet style but more than enough to chose from. Always fresh fruit available and plenty of puddings and cakes in the evening! The room was a bit small for our family but grandparents had one child on the odd night. The location was perfect for the lovely beach which you could access down a small path, unfortunately when we went it was quite windy and lots of jellyfish were on the beach, however, they were gone the next day, beach gorgeous though. It is a very quiet resort but there is a lovely walkway along behind the hotels and small parks for the kids. Hotel staff were great and the Thomson reps were fab, hard working and very friendly, the friendliest I have ever met. The drop in centre was great as my 2 girls could go at the same time instead of being in 2 different clubs. I would recommend is hotel to anyone who is looking for a quiet family holiday.

The hotel was lovely but resort only had three shops so a little quiet. The entertainment staff were marvellous and a special mention should go to Cheeky Charlie, Juicy Lucy and Dolly Dave (but he left halfway through our holiday).

We went to the Cala Galdana Hotel to visit relatives and it seemed so quiet by comparison - though a very nice hotel.

The food was lovely and the entertainment at night was excellent - The Disney Show being my favourite and Fake That.

travelled with husband and two children - the children had a ball - wanted to go straight back! Very helpful staff, polite and friendly - plenty going on during the day and evenings - some of the acts they got in on an evening weren't up to much but Fake That and Westlive, Abba and Four Tops were all excellent and made for great entertainment.

My husband found the resort a little too quiet but me and the kids loved it. Considering going back again.

The was our first family holiday abroad and we were not disappointed. We travelled with our 3 children aged 6, 4 and 14 months and they loved it.

The hotel is kept very clean and tidy. The staff at the hotel very friendly especially the restaurant staff with the children. Our room was a bit on the small side especially with the size of our party, having said that, how much time do you spend in them?

The food was adequate, not a great selection and we found weird combinations such as spring rolls with mashed potatoes, having said that it was always cooked well and replenished on a regular basis. Childrens buffet very limited and we found ours ate from the adult buffet to avoid chips every night. It was of a good standard considering the amount of people they were catering for. We found breakfast was better than the evening meals. Gala night on a Friday was very good food.

The location was good, beach just a short stroll away, ideal for little legs. The resort itself is fairly quiet, ideal if you are looking for a relaxing holiday not for you if you want a bustling night life. We found the resort itself had a very safe feeling to it which was perfect with the children.

The reps and staff at the hotel were helpful, as I said above the restaurant staff in particular very friendly always made an effort to come over and chat to us and the children. Reps were very good in particular Dolly Davy, Juicy Lucy and Cheeky Charley, we didn't use the kids clubs so can't comment on the kids reps, our children were more than happy to swim or go down the beach.

Plenty of sunloungers and a nice quieter area on the grass with trees to offer shade, where you can see the children in the pool but get away from the hustle and bustle around the pool a bit.

Entertainment was good, daytime games around the pool, afternoon quiz and evening entertainment. The children enjoyed the evening entertainment a little more than we did I think but it was ok.

All in all would go back but as we want to see other parts of the world it will be in a few years.

A typical 3 star hotel, it could do with updating, the decor and furnishings are 20 years out of date.

The food is hit and miss, the only exception being the Friday gala dinner which was good. Beware a lot of the crockery and cutlery are old and dirty, with evidence of previous meals there to see. The hotel needs to replace the lot and buy new dishwashers.

The staff are friendly and helpful. There are a lot of young babies and toddlers in the hotel, so be prepared to be woken up anytime from 7am, no chance of a lie in. That said there are next to no teenagers and no 20 something lager louts.

The hotel is situated on the beach and there are some great local walks across the cliffs.

A quiet relaxing resort, not for those who like a lively nightlife.

Stayed here for 1 week, booked a late deal. First impressions very good, looked clean and tidy.

Rooms are very basic, No fridge or TV in the rooms (luckily we had good weather -- hotel would not be able to cope in bad weather I think).

Food ok really, plenty of choice, however the menu did change during each evening - when the current food runs out, especially puddings! they place something different out. Watch out for the strawberries, if you see them grab em quick as they will not last long!

Entertainment, the Thomson staff worked hard and in evening had some different acts on. The other half loved the Fake (take) That tribute band. They bought the house down.

One word of warning -- do not book you rental car form the Europcar-Betacar kiosk in reception.

We hired a vehicle for 3 days (9 seater for rest of family) original quoted in writing 200 Euro incl 3 child seats. upon collection price jumped to 280 Euro excl child seats, and would not budge. Told him to poke. Person behind me wanted a beetle convertable and got a Citroen C3 non convertable for the same price??!!.

Other people were having problems with the car rep - Also he would not translate the agreement for you, just saying sign here and here!! Very helpful!

Would not visit hotel again as too quiet an area for us.

Booked a late deal and were put here, the hotel is very much a family hotel with most people with babys and young children.

The hotel rooms are spot on and very clean with fantastic views over san tomas.

The food is probably the best I have eaten abroad. Only fault is there was not a great lot out of the hotel just a couple of bars and shops.

I would recomend this hotel for families or couples who want a quiet holiday, not enough going on for us.

Had a great time but would not return.

Travelled in August to Victoria Playa.

The hotel was clean at all times, and the rooms were cleaned every day at the same time also to a high standard.

The food was good with a good selection, although at times the restaurant got a little crowded but they are trying to feed a lot of us all at once!

The hotel location is excellent, right next to the beach with excellent views.the staff were very helpful and were always smiling and working flat out!

The entertainment was good and the Hotel reps worked hard to keep everyone happy and involved.

If you have stayed at a Thompson Superfamily Hotel before then you will have no surprises at this one. Last Year we stayed at out first superfamily (the Presedente in Portanx, Ibiza ) if you have stayed at that hotel the you will find this one very, very similar both in terms of the Hotel facilities and the resort.

The Hotel, like I said, every thing you have come to expect is there, buts lets start of with a few negatives first. All the Entertainment at night is inside (you would expect it outside on the pool side in August) and the acoustics in the room where it was held were very poor, all adding to the feel of a UK Butlins resort as another reviewer mentioned. The Entertainment team tried hard but they did seem to lack something (particularly compared to the Presedente) and the program of entertainments was limited to virtually beam bag throwing, water polo and a quiz, no archery or pistol shooting here like at other hotels (but they did have the space for it!). The rooms were small and OK but no TV or tea making facilties (as at the Presedente again, sorry) and my wife complained that the wardrobes did not accommodate anything longer than a skirt or shirt.

On the plus side the food was slightly above the level of the normal mass produced slop you come to expect at half board hotels, there was an alternative to chips every night and a good selection of fish on most nights. The Hotel and room, like the resort was very clean, special commendation to the sunbed attendant in the yellow tots hat who meticulously, every evening checked under every bed for litter and repositioned the sunbeds ready for the next day. Also well done to the cleaners who noticed out shower was faulty and before we had chance to report it had replaced the whole unit for us. And FREE Fridge – a bonus!

As our son is now almost 10 this will be our last year at a superfamily hotel but if you have young children this place (like the Presedente) is ideal and would really recommend it for cleanliness and safety. One final comment : hire a CAR as soon as you get there, there are limited numbers available and there is plenty to see on the Island from the well preserved Mola Fortress to the Dancing Horses and AquaRock water park (of course, Don’t pay the Thompson excursion prices for either of these they literally charge you 10 times the price!)

The Victoria Hotel is set in a fantastic location on the beach.

The beach is fab and very clean - just a word of warnig - on some days there is a very strong current that comes from the Son Bou direction. All three of our family got caught in this and were extremely shaken up. There is a flag system and a lifeguard so you should be safe.

Not too keen on the entertainment - not my cup of tea.

Food was good and plenty of choice.

Most nights we spent at a little bar up the road on the left - don't know what is was called - serves snack meals, icecream, etc. Would highly recommend it, the drinks are much cheaper than the hotel, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing and the Spanish couple that own it are lovely.

Wonderful hotel if you have children. Reps were fantastic. Childrens entertainment was very good. Adult entertainment was ok but did not start until 10 at night and finished by 11.30.

Too many children allowed to stay up till very late.
Not enough umbrellas for use with sun beds. You had to be down by the pool very early as people put their towels on the sun beds.

Dissappointing that you had to pay 20 euros for sun beds on the beach.

Food was wonderful and staff were very freindly. We would recommend this hotel to families with children.

Just arrived back to-day after 2 weeks here it's a really nice hotel. The entertainers Dan and irish Sarah are very good and so are all of them, there is always activities going on and the food is good.

On the second week we went into the resort more and it is very quiet but lovely only a few shops, crazy golf for kids and a few bars spread out.

We hired a car for 2 days and it was well worth it not expensive to hire and very easy to drive around the island and see the resorts its beautiful.

Also the beach in Santa Tomas is not crowded at all and very quiet would definately return here.

Victoria Playa, Santo Tomas, Menorca. A well maintained, spotlessly clean building in an excellent location for family holidays. Very little traffic with access to the beach direct from the grounds.

Food was good with plenty of choice. All the staff were polite and keen to help.

Thomson reps. worked very hard, particularly Dan, if he can remain this enthusiastic all season he will deserve a medal!.

Children's entertainment was first class.

Our group consisted of three generations aged from 2 years to 58 years. As a family holiday this was excellent and we are very likely to return.

This may not appeal to couples without children or those looking to please teenagers.

Having just returned from a weeks holiday, we were glad to say that it wasn't for two!

The hotel bedrooms looked as if they had just been redocorated and were very clean. However, the public rooms could do with an refurb in particular the seating areas.

Food was good but nothing special!

Waiting staff were so polite and friendly couldn't do enough.

Entertainment was as expected very family orientated. Lots of little children and babies with their mums and dads dancing till all hours.

After all my quibbles we did enjoy our stay but would not return to either this hotel or resort.

If you do not have small children then i would not recommend this hotel.

I just want to add in response to Snappy's report, that the things spotted on the coastal path which look like syringes are most likely harmless light-sticks, used for night fishing....I too was alarmed when I first saw one of these poking out of the sand in Son Bou, but if you look, they don't have a needle, they are just a tube of liquid...I went out of my way to find out what they were as I didn't like the idea of our toddler finding them whilst she was playing on the beach.

Having stayed in this Hotel in 2003 and 2004 the whole family were disappointed with the Thompson Entertainment Reps. The entertainment was lacklustre and not a patch on previous years especially too many Magic shows!!! It was such a shame to encounter this as although any Super Family holiday is geared towards the kids enjoyment we all agreed that the 14-days we spent in the hotel was extremely boring. When we had rainy days no additional entertainment was provided. We just had to sit around and play cards all day.

However, the Spanish Waiters/Waitresses and Bar Staff were up to the usual high standard and the food in the Restaurant was superb.

The bedrooms and common areas were exceptionally clean as always.

The poor entertainment and lack of enthusiasm from the Thompson Reps has put us off booking for next year.

The Hotel is ideally placed with a fantastic beach in close proximity.
The rooms are bright, well maintained, clean and functional with very effective air-conditioning.
The food was good. What I particularly like about this hotel, is that there is still the same selection and choice of food available to latecomers. (With previous half-board experiences in other hotels we found that the quality and choice of food was less towards the end of designated meal meal-times).
Hotel staff are friendly and the Thomson Reps are great.
This is a super-family hotel and the entertainment is largely geared towards kids (Who love it).

Thomson Superfamily certainly live up to their name. 15 Representatives are at the hotel and each and every one of them give 110%. On the information desk there is Sarah, Famena and Nicky - all very knowledgeable about the island and extremely helpful.

The entertainment team are full of energy, enthusiasm and fun. A special mention goes to Magic Martin. He keeps the magic going from mid morning until mid-night. His stamina is amazing, pool games, discos, pre shows and especially the rep show - he is there with a constant smile.

As we didn't have children we cannot say too much about the kids reps but they all were very cheerful and welcoming.

The hotel is situated at the quiet end of Santo Tomas with a lovely sandy beach only a few steps away.

The restaurant and bar staff were very courteous, the food fantastic with so much variety - I challenge anyone to manage all the puddings on offer!

Although at the beginning we thought the rooms were quite small and basic we soon realised that it was not much of a problem - as we only spent time in rooms to sleep.

Hotel was always very clean and hotel staff were friendly. Dining room was a good size and never had to wait very long for a table.

Waiters and waitresses were friendly especially Miguel. There was a good choice of food and always able to find something we liked.

The hotel is right on the beach which was great - clean, nice sand & clear sea. There is also a row of shops down the road with a supermarket that sells good range of food.
Entertainment was good.

Daytime quizzes and activities with the entertainers Baby Jane and Magic Martin and childrens disco, prize presentation and Thompson the dog show in the evenings. Wednesday was Mega day where the reps challenged the guests throughout the day in a range of activities finishing with a final in the evening entertainment. It was also the reps show in the evening (the best of all the evening shows).

The reps were friendly towards everybody. Baby Jane and Magic Martin were well known by everyone and Spike (Paul) ,head kidzone rep, is popular with all the guests as he is friendly and slightly mad!

We would definetly go back to Victoria Playa. The best thing about our holiday was the entertainment from the reps! Spike is the best!

We went here in July with our 4 year old daughter - who loved it. This hotel caters for families. And for that, it's great - but I definitely wouldn't want to come here alone or as a couple!

The Kids Club was fantastic, although it is very popular (especially the evening club) and you have to book the day before to ensure a place as it can get oversubscribed.

Rooms were small and basic but clean.

Breakfasts were good, evening meals were average.

The hotel is located about 20 metres from the beach and although the resort entertainment is quiet, in hotel entertainment is good which compensates.

We booked an allocation on arrival to Menorca, costing £260.00 each for half board.

On arrival we were given this hotel and we would certainly return again. The location is great only a few minuets from the sea.We had our towels changed every day and the room cleaned to a good standard. The food was excellent for breakfast but, I did struggle sometimes in the evening being vegetarian, the rest of our party had no problem.

I was worried with this being a super family hotel that there would be no children my sons age[13]but,there were all ages and he had no problem finding friends.

The entertainment was the norm but, with nothing else to do in the resort we went along to it.

Would certainly go back to hotel but, this time we would hire a car as resort is too quiet.

We booked and went on this holiday on the same day , as a late booking. So we didnt know where we were going until we got to the airport.
The resort was somewhere if you wanted a quiet holiday, deff not if you are looking for bars and clubs etc.
Hotel itself was clean and staff were friendly. We are only a young couple , and found this hotel was mainly for familys. Thompson reps were great with the kids , escp Baby Jane and Magic Martin. Had loads of games round the pool, and always played the Thopmson dog song ( found myself singing it for months after).
Beach is nice, as we found ourselves on there nearly everyday.
Dont think i would return , as its not for a young couple.

This again was a fantastic holiday! This was my 6th time at this hotel and I have already booked for next year!

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. The waiters are really funny, especially Juan Antonio and Juan Carlos.

The food is wonderful and your always spoilt for choice, the chefs night is awesome with a wide range of foods very nicely presented, credit goes out to the chefs! The waiters and waitresses in the kitchen are always smiling and are very helpful.

The entertainment was excellent, both during the day and on an evening. During the day Magic Martin and Baby Jane ensure that your never short of things to do round the pool, whilst the kids reps entertain your little ones.

The evening entertainment is very good, especially the Beijing acrobats and the rep shows, seeing the head kids rep Spike do his impression of Michael Flattley (Michael Flat Battery) in Lord of the Dance is amazing, he deserves a medal!

The hotel is in a very good location right on the beach so you dont have to walk far to get to the clear sand and crystal waters. It is also near to a range of shops and a supermarket that sells all the essentials.

The hotel is very very clean and your rooms are always left spotless afdter the maids have cleaned them!

This was a fabulous holiday and I look forward to next year!

Just one last thing- Spike is mad :P

The hotel is great for families. This was our first holiday abroad with our 5 year old. The flight was great not to long. The staff were great, room clean and tidy, maid went in every day to clean and put fresh towels in.

Our daughter loved it from the minute we got there to when we went home, plenty to do. The reps at the kids club were fab, she could go every day if wanted from 10oclock til 9 pm on and off. The pool was good and safe.

Food was great plenty of choice and entertainment was good.

Just got back yesterday, to be fair this was a late deal after my original holiday was cancelled due to Goldensun going bump.

We arrived at our accomadation knowing that even though it was allocation on arrival we should have been recieving a 3T accomadation. We got off the coach and our first thought were that it looks good as we entered the lobby. The reception staff were good quickly sorting out our keys and we set off to our room. On arrival at the room what can i say but if that was Thomson's idea of 3T then how basic would a 2T or 1T be! Yes the room was very clean but also very basic with wood chip walls. I also noted this was a Superfamily hotel which was i admit great for the kids there but due to the lack of carpet in a 3T accomadation somebody could sneeze down the other end of the corridor and you would hear it in your room! The first two night we got little sleep due to a baby in the room below crying.

The food at breakfast was excellent and i really couldn't knock it but at dinner everything all seven nights was luke warm and a very poor standard.

I gave the hotel a four for entertainment as i'm sure its great for kids but for those without kids it was poor and the Thomson rep's very patronising in the welcome meeting were there were about three baby's, no kids but about 80 adults. We were spoken to like kids.

In all i would recommend this hotel to anyone with small kids who likes to laze by the pool but do nothing else. Otherwise avoid.

Great hotels for families with young children. Stayed at Victoria playa end of August last year and going back there this year beginning of July.

The beach is great too with plenty of soft sand and the water warm and clear.

Staff - very friendly and can't do enough for you
highly recommended

This is the second year running we have returned to this hotel. This year we were not disappointed, it was just as good this year as it was last, if not better.

The hotel location is excellent. Our daughter (3years old) is a child with Downs syndrome and has a tendancy to escape but as the hotel is in a safe and clean environment, it certainly put our minds at rest. The hotel staff are excellent, very friendly. It was a nice surprise that they even recognised us when we went into the restaurant for dinner on our first night. Toni the waitress is a darling and loves children. The hotel is very clean everywhere. The maid who cleaned the rooms was very thorough.

The food was very good and plenty of it. My husband even managed to find vegetarian food amoungst the many choices. It was nice for the children to have their own buffet, however the choice was very limited for them, but at least they could choose from the main buffet too and vice verser for the adults.

The evening entertainment was good. The Thompson entertainment reps were great and really good fun. The downside to the entertainment was that the outside shows that came in were the same as last year, so we had seen them all before. However on most nights we used to join in the mini disco for the children which started at 8.30pm, watch the prize presentations (just incase we were one of the lucky ones who won), then go for a nice walk along the promonade or sit on a table outside and play cards.

The daytime activities were great. Liam, Sarah & Kerrie (when she was not working with the teenagers in the grid) were excellent. They really made everyone feel welcome and tried to get everyone involved. The whirlpool in the mornings after a nice relaxing quiz was great. I was so amazed how they seemed to remember peoples names.

Childrens reps. What can I say they were excellent beyond belief. I was a bit apprehensive in how they would cope with a child with special needs but I spoke to Paul (head of childrens reps)at the welcome meeting and he put my mind at rest straight away and whenever my daughter went to tots Paul allocated one of the reps to solely look after her. Emma especially was the greatest and my daughter loved her to bits. We found that the drop-in centre was a great idea (new for this year) as children that did not want to go into the childrens clubs had a less formal option of playing in the drop in centre.

On the whole we had a fantastic holiday and everyone whether it be hotel staff or Thompson staff worked very hard and were very efficient and friendly. We would recommend this hotel most definitely especially for families, though my mother and father joined us our second week, then had a week there on their own and they recommend it to older couples too.

We will most definitely be returning again.

We love it!!!

I only got back from my holiday yesterday (05-09-04) I though it was great.

I traveled with my aunt and 2 younger cousins, the hotel was brilliant. The hotel and thompson staff were so kind and helpful (Nicky, Lindsey and Tom) so if you are planning to take children of any ages take them here they all love children and you will feel quite comftable leaving them in the care of the reps.

The entertainment by the pool is also brilliant Sarah, Liam (and Kerri when she isnt working at the grid) work hard throughout the day including as many people as posible.

The food was good but the choices became repeted over the 2 weeks. I also was confused in which food was vegertarian friendly? apart from that it was good and the staff were excellent in the restaurant.

The entertainment. I loved the reps shows in which they worked extemely hard in and is a must see if you are going to this hotel! Their broadway show was great but the SUPERFAMILY rocks 'rock on' show was the highlight of the entertainment for me, all the reps took part in the brilliant show the music and dancing was fab but my favourite part was sarahs singing. After seeing the 2 week set it was a big range of shows i enjoyed many of them but not everyone has the same tastes but their was definatly something for every just about.

I loved the hotel and the people so i will definatly be going back.

We are lucky enough to have other holidays each year as well (USA and Crete this year) We are always happy to go back to the Victoria Playa. The food is great and the beach and hotel area's are very clean. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially Juan Carlos who enjoys a laugh and a joke with everyone. Cant wait to go back again! as I dont get out much, obviously! :-)

We stayed this in July 2004 and we were very disappointed.

Our room was smelly, and after numerous visits by our rep and then a lady from reception (who said she could not smell anything!) they changed our room, still not perfect though.

The first couple of nights were 'noisy' you can hear the lifts going up and down and you can hear everything people are saying in the next rooms, Oh and watch out for the screaming kids in the corridor after the entertainment has finished, really annoying!

The beach was lovely but very little to do in the evenings. We hired a car for 3 days, but then decided to hire it for the week, would have gone round the twist otherwise, if you do hire a car the main road through the island is a bit 'scary'.

Entertainment was OK but got too much when they made you look a fool when you didn't get up, a little irritating when you just wanted to sit and relax!

The Reps were good and can't complain about them.

We have stayed in the Victoria playa for 7 years in a row and find it an absolute fantastic holiday destination.

The resort is brilliant, a quiet relaxing area, but with nightlife for teens. The hotel is great, all the staff are fantastic and all very friendly, and many have become close friends due to us repeatedly going back! Especially Juan Carlos, Juan Antonio, Jorj, Roman, Paul the kiddie’s rep, Tom the rep, Antonio the head chef and all the other Thomson and hotel staff are brilliant too. We are definatly returning next year, it would be depressing not too!

The food is lovely, a buffet, with a different variety each night, also a kiddies section which is easy for them to help themselves to.

The entertainment varies with space to sit either inside or outside.

Overall a fantastic holiday and out of the 20 odd of us who was there as a group, no one wanted to come home!

We had a very enjoyable holiday. Hotel was lovely but the rooms are basic and small. Location was great as only a stone throw away from beach. Very quiet resort we thought it would be very busy in the school holidays but it was the opposite. Hotel staff and reps really helpful and friendly.

The entertainment was awful didn't think it was possible for a band to completely destroy the songs of the Blues Brothers we couldn't beleive what we were hearing. The rep shows were better than the other shows. The only shows we enjoyed were The Four Tops and Riverdance. There was to much singing and dancing acts it would have made a change to have a comedian.

The food was hit and miss to much of the same thing and to many chips.

We wouldn't visit the hotel again not because we didn't enjoy it but we like to go somewhere different everytime we go on holiday.

When we arrived in our room we thought it was a joke. There was a bunk bed and a double bed side by side. There was no room to move and we spent as little time in the room as was possible - we took it in turns to get showered and dressed as it was impossible for the four of us to move around at the same time!! Walls are paper thin - we were often awoken by the sound of the flush of our neighbour's toilet.

However, the place is spotless. Staff are very hardworking, although one barman caused a considerable amount of upset for us - refusing to serve us at the bar and even singling out my 13 year old son and shouting abuse at him, leaving him very frightened. The manager apologised for this upset and was very accommodating.

Entertainment was quite good during the daytime but the evening was mostly for tiny tots. There were a few good 'shows' but they only lasted around 45 minutes and then the reps would be at it 'get the adults up' - which could become quite annoying after listening to it all day.

We met some really decent people who were great company and we did enjoy the holiday. It did become a little tetious towards the final days though.

Sadly, there were many people at the hotel who had visited it for 10 years running. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't the incentive to find other places to enjoy their summer holidays. The hotel was nice but the world is such a big place and there are thousands of other hotels as good, if not better, than this one.

We arrived at the end of july during the school holidays so the hotel was very busy, despite this the hotel was always spotless. Our rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and the cleaners always gave us all a smile and a hello.

The rooms were basic with very little storage space, we had very few hangers and a few drawers in which to fit clothes for 4 people. As the suitcases did not fit under the beds and we needed our buggy daily the room did feel a bit crowded and cluttered. The lifts could be a bit of a problem as they only hold 4 to 5 people at a time and with the large amounts of people with buggys there was usually a long wait for one. we used the stairs most of the time.

The food was plentiful but did get a little monotonous after 2 weeks. There were some odd combinations and the kids buffet rarely changed from chips fish/chicken shapes and beans. Overall though I felt that the food catered for most tastes. The dining room staff were fantastic, they always made a fuss of the children and were polite and friendly to everyone.

The bar staff were very busy in the evening and generally were great with only one exception which was a shame. Reception staff again were fantastic as were the reps although only seemed to deal with Tom.

The location of the hotel is first class it is a very short stroll to the beach, at the far end of the resort so there is no traffic noise especially at the back of the hotel.

The entertainment again was good, with the kids disco and the reps and the entertainers all working extremely hard to ensure that the kids had a great time. There was something for everyone from singing, dancing, rollerskating clowns!!, however the magicians act involved putting razor blades in his mouth which I felt was inappropriate for a family show.

I will be returning to the Victoria playa next year.

We have just returned home within the last week and are already planning next years holiday at the same Hotel. The staff were very friendly and approachable. The reps were some of the best we've ever come across. The rooms although basic are spotlessly clean and airy with fantastic views regardless of were you are in the Hotel. The food is buffet style and the chefs cater for any tastes you may prefer. My son had two main courses per evening, so proof of the pudding.. The entertainment by the reps was great however some of the visiting artists left a bit to be desired. We couldn't have been happier with this hotel.

The rooms are very small. Even more so if you need a cot and a fridge. Although the hotel itself is great and therefore you don't speand that much time in your room anyway.

The reps are fantastic, Liam, Sarah & Kerri really work hard to involve everybody around the pool everyday. There are too many reps to mention but they are all brilliant with the kids.

The kids disco was great, but be carful you end up singing the same songs all through the holiday (Thomson the dog). Some of the audlt entertainment left a little to be desired but the reps nights are great.

The food was OK, but didn't vary that much from night to night. There was also some odd combinations. To break up the routine we had a couple of meals out, one very nice one was at Hamilton Court.

The hotel Victoria Playa is an absolutely fabulous choice for a perfect holiday. The hotel food was out of this world, there was plenty to choose from to suit everyone. Once a week was the chef's night in which you got to sample more of the fantastic delights and you also get champagne! The restaurant staff were very friendly and made mealtimes far more enjoyable!

The entertainment was fab, both for the kids with the mini discos with the excellent children's reps and sometimes Thomson the dog and for the adults with the amazing shows including lord of the dance, disney dazzles, George Michael, Mariah Carey and Freddie Mercury tributes, magic shows and many more! The fantastic rep shows such as their tribute to broadway musicals and superfamily rocks are compulsory viewing, as they work so hard to touch people with their fabulous singing, dancing and comedy skills. The daytime entertainment is also brilliant with Liam, Sarah and Kerri working very hard to keep everyone entertained with things such as quizzes, supersplash, reps vs guests in which the reps always take a hammering off the guests and you also get to see one of the male reps dressed up as a fairy-now thats entertainment!

The hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The waitors are not only gorgeous but they are very funny and work very hard to keep people happy, the reception staff are very pleasant and show lots of courtesy to everyone. The reps (Tom, Lindsay, Nikki) are always there to help anyone who has any problems or who fancies taking a trip out. They are very nice and always do everything they possibly can to help people!

The hotel is very clean, with very nice air conditioning which keeps you comfortable during those hot nights! The pool is cleaned everyday so there is never any chance of it being dirty and although the rooms are basic they have everything you need. The downstairs areas such as the TV area, the toilets, the reception area and the stage area are always very clean and tidy!

I enjoyed this hotel and holiday so much I booked for next year as soon as I got home!

Hotel has good facilities but be aware - rooms are very basic and have no TV's.

Large dinning room with a basic but well stocked buffet service. Waiting times to be seated are kept to a minimum even at the busiest times. Food is always hot a plentiful if sometimes a little miss matched. As this is a family hotel there is also a very well thought out kiddies buffet.

As mentioned, this is not just a family hotel but a Thomson SUPER FAMILY hotel. DO NOT go during school hols if you are not a parent - you'll never sleep! All the Thomson reps (there are about ten thousand in this hotel alone) are fantastic. If you have kids - find Paul the head honcho of kiddies reps and get your kids in the club. Paul and his entire team are fantastic with the little people and you feel comfortable leaving your little uns in their care. Do be prepared for tears at the end of the holiday - the kids will get attached!

Day time entertainment is normally based around the pool and is not for the faint hearted - the jump off involves 120+ guests jumping into the pool in a mexican wave style. Liam, Ceri and Sarah won't let your week pass without getting EVERYONE involved at some point. Always best to get stuck in and join them - extremely good fun when you do get involved.

Hotel staff are all very friendly and will do anything to make your stay pleasurable.

Evening entertainment is great which is essential as you'll never find a quieter resort. The rep show is a must - SUPER FAMILY ROCKS - mince it up!!!!!!!!

Great hotel - keep your eyes peeled for Thomson the Dog!

Hotel very clean, bedrooms very clean but in badly need of updating. Air conditioning works well. Hotel is in a very good position in the resort, you are practically right on the beach, shops and doctor just over the road, buses to Mahon & Ciutadella stop just over the road (but there are only two a day). Entertainment is very good there is a childrens disco from 8.30-9.0 then its the prize presentations which seem to drag on forever. The main entertainment starts at 10.00 p.m. but by then the little ones are getting tired. Food is excellent, lots of choice, every Friday its Gala night where they give you champagne for free with your meal, also champagne available at breakfast to make your own Bucks Fizz.

All the reps were approachable (Sarah,Ollie,Lucy) the reception staff were helpful and the waiters were lovely(especially Juan the youngest one) . The food was great and the entertainment was even better the rooms are small but there's lots around the hotel so there is no need to stay in them for long.

It is a quiet place but has the beach, a super market, shops, swimming pool, bus stop, pay phones and a cafe all within a two minute walking distance.

There are plenty of trips that the hotel has to offer so that you can go around the island.

The hotel has plenty to do for all ages. Even in a storm everyone managed to find something to do around the hotel.

I definately want to go back next year and I would strongly recommend it to you.

We visited this hotel in July/August 2002 for 11 nights. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and the food is good. All food in the restaurant is well cooked and very hot. The restaurant staff are very helpful. The bar is a little on the expensive side, but again the staff are helpful and polite.

The rooms are very basic, and the walls are very thin. The maids do an excellent job, and they keep the rooms clean. The nylon bedspreads are not pleasant!

The Thomson entertainers are excellent(well, two out of three are - the third one needs to moderate her/his language as my children were not impressed!).

Thomson reps appear to be under some pressure, and seem keen to meet targets rather than look after the interests of the holidaymakers. Beware the rep who goes to unusual lengths to get you to go on the Thomson trip to Mahon as opposed to the local bus.

Local buses are not very regular, so hiring a car is a good option if you need a break from the constant entertainment.

This is the second year that we have been. A few things have changed this year, the dining room has been made larger, so queing times for a table has been reduced, and also they have increased the size of the bar down by the pool. They have now moved all the entertainment inside, not such a good idea on a hot evening, also two large pillars obscuring the view for a lot of seats, overall the entertainment not as good this year compared to last year.

No worries about getting a sun bed though, thomson reps remove all towels that are placed before 8.45am (brilliant idea, means you can stay in bed that little bit longer). So you can enjoy your breakfast and still get a sunbed round the pool. Talking of round the pool still a strong smell coming from the showers, still the same trouble as last year.

Food ok, not a great deal of choice for the fussy yongsters though, children selection could do with being made larger, overall though very enjoyable food, its just a shame the prices of the drinks for the evening meal cost so much.

Rooms. Well what can you say, not the best, paper thin walls, so you can hear everything going on in the next room (be warned). Decoration could do with being modernised very bare and poor interiors. Children having to sleep on very basic bunk beds. Kept very clean by the Maids, in everyday and very good at their jobs.

Overall holiday very good, beach was lovely and on the doorstep. Prices in the resort very expensive, do hire a car and see the rest of the island it is beautifull.

Enjoy your Holiday.

Visited the hotel during the last two weeks of June 2002 and had a very good time. The hotel lies at the eastern end of Santo Tomas with a large pool area and gardens (some shaded for the paler among us) that end only a few yards from the beach.

The hotel was exceptionally clean, and the food was very good for a hotel of this star rating. Our faddy 3-year-old was not overly keen on some elements of the kids menu: the fish fingers and chicken nuggets were different to those back home so she decided she didn't like them!

Drinks in the hotel were expensive so anyone with a prodigious thirst is well advised to try the bars in the resort. Santo Tomas is a small, VERY quiet resort though so don't expect a huge choice of alternatives. Its charm lies in the fact that it is quiet and clean, including the beach (in contrast to those on the coastal path to Son Bou where used syringes could be found). If you're staying for more than a week, hiring a car is essential, and relatively simple as Europcar have a desk in the hotel reception and there are Avis and Hertz offices in Santo Tomas. We found it was slightly cheaper to book in Britain, however.

The supermarket opposite the hotel carries a good range of stock and many British brands, though you will pay through the nose for them. It is much cheaper than the hotel for drinks and ice cream, however, so hiring a fridge for your room might be worthwhile.

The entertainment and facilities were good with a nightly cabaret of touring acts preceded by a kids disco that our daughter loved. Chrissy, Alex and Alan the ents. reps were friendly and competent though I found one of them less entertaining than the others! (no names, no pack drill)

The kids club is well run and handy though we found our daughter preferred the less structured "drop-in" club to the Tots club proper. The children's play area is well designed and close to the gardens if you want to keep an eye on the brats from the comfort of your sunbed. Getting a sunbed is not really a problem, though arriving late means you get left with the uncomfortable hard-plastic ones. Pool umbrellas - particularly the weighted bases - are in short supply, however.

The hotel is excellent for families with younger children but teenagers may find little to entertain them.

Previous comments about the paper-thin walls are still true and the toilets have the loudest flush mechanism ever invented but we felt that the room was not especially small. Being a hotel aimed squarely at families, we found there was little or no noise after midnight (dustbin men at 6am notwithstanding), especially as our room was on the opposite side to the pool and entertainments area.

At busy times the three lifts struggled to cope, each being roughly coffin-sized - inflate your lilos AFTER you get downstairs!

Talking of inflation, the price in the brochure bears all the hallmarks of being set high to allow the travel agents to offer generous discounts. Through booking early we got 35% off the brochure price and Lunn Poly are currently offering 40% off next summer's bookings.

Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and would return in the future, though next time we will avoid the Superfamily bubbly like the poison it is!
