Hotel smelled of damp and stale cigarette smoke.
Hotel room stank of sewerage. We changed rooms with a bit of persuasion, from a double room to a single room with a slightly wider than 1 person bed in it. I had to sleep on the floor (clean carpet). Bedclothes were cigarette holed and stained and very rough. Window wouldn't shut so nightclub noise was coming through all night. Toilet flush broken and glued together, shower tile cracked, hole in bathroom door, sink basin cracked.
Breakfast was adequate albeit cold and coffee could have been used to tarmac the road!!!

The location has always attracted us, it's close to absolutely everything, it's on Rembrandtplein Square where there are cafes and bars. The trams stop over the road if you don't want to walk, although all Amsterdams main attractions are within comfortable walking distance.
The price has always been around £55 for the room with breakfast, which is not a bad price for Amsterdam. It's perhaps more suited to a younger crowd, but we've always enjoyed it. We only stopped going there when we started using priceline for accomodation.
