| said: 3rd visit to this hotel. Standards have slipped a little since our last visit but still a fantastic hotel.
The staff recognised us immediatly when we checked in and nothing was too much trouble.
Food is still fantastic, still a great choice although this year there seemed to be less staff in the restaurant clearing tables and topping food up at the buffet. There wasn't a head waiter taking you to your table as there was last year making it difficult to get a table at the busy times on an evening. Still don't like the "Gents in long trouders" bit at dinner but you can get away with 3/4 or long shorts.
Hotel is spotless in all areas, including rooms which are cleaned every day and new towels provided.
Pool is great, plenty of room and sunbeds, no need to join the nerds in the queue at 8 o'clock every morning.
Entertainment was usual fayre, pro acts (Queen Tribute especially) were good but Hotel Entertainment was a bit dour although Lee really is a tryer and a great guy, in fact they are all really nice.
Food from the bar during the day is great and the bar staff really friendly although the prices are a bit pricey.
New thing the Hotel has is a pub which stays open until 3am so rooms on the lower floors can hear the Screeches from the Karaoke until the early hours, don't think it will last long.
Still loads of people eaten alive by mozzys so take plenty of reppellant.
Still had a great ime and would still go back.

The food in the hotel is brill I am the true Brit abroad looks for English food all the time so I do not normally stay half board. so when I went into the hotel restaurant i was amazed at the choice their was something for everyone.
I have read some reviews about the restaurant and thought people where being rather picky after dinning in their.
Their where always lots of sunbeds and their was no need to rush down and reserve them at stupid o'clock. We spent alot of time around the pool and their was always 2/3 stacks of sunbeds left over (we did hear that the hotel had brought 150 new beds).
The entertainment was fantastic not the norm sitting around listening to the music man song. they had tribute bands performing Kool & the gang, The Beales, The Four Tops, The Platers, also a magic show and acrobats.
I will be going back again next year it was that good.

| said: Hotel is spotless in all areas, although here's a tip; don't forget some mossy spray, lots of people seem to get bitten, but we never do because we have one of those plug in things in the room and we spray up on a night before we go out.
Fantastic choice of food, even the fussiest of eaters can't fail and the breakfast has everything, English bacon and sausage every day.
Santa Ponsa is a fantastic resort which caters for all, great beach, nice bars, shops and restaurants (although we never needed them, the hotel food was that good) Don't miss a night out at the square to catch the tribute nights.
Evening entertainmentis the usual fayre and the hotel bar is expensive but Santa Ponsa has plenty to offer.
Fantastic Hotel, not my 1st visit and won't be my last.

| said: Just returned from this hotel yesterday it was by far one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in, the rooms were cleaned with clean towels everyday.
The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful it was only a two minute walk from a fabulous beach and a whole strip of shops there were clubs just up the road for young people open till late and there was plenty to do for all ages.
The entertainment was ok but we only watched it once on the first night, good for kids tho as they play games with them all day in the pool etc.
The food was nice with a good selection the only problem is the plates are small so sometimes you have to go back up (like my boyfriend did every day).
Like someone else said you do have to que up in the morning for a good sunbed, people start queing at about 7:30am and the doors dont open till 8:30 so there is quite a few people there by then.
Anyway all in all this is a brilliant hotel and I would definetly go back there and recommend it to all ages.
This hotel is a 3 star but should def be a 5 star.

The room was a bit small and storage space at a premium. The room was cleaned each day and towels changed as required.
The entertainment was not to our liking but appeared to be quite good.
Bar staff not so good, you didn't always get what you ordered. And I was told that the 1.6 euro above the price expected was for the water (served in a not so clean jug)!
Food was also a problem, finding a clean plate and cutlery to start with. The lay out of the self service area left a lot to be desired too. Eg. roast beef followed by gravy, veg is at the other end of the room. There was a wide choice of food but you had to be wary of your selection, many items were not labelled.
Mozzis were also very active throughout the hotel.

The hotel is in a great, location just over the road from the beach. The cleanliness of the hotel was superb as were the staff.
The only downfall at this hotel was the food which was like something you got all those years ago at school dinners.
Entertainment staff did a great job through out the day and my two year old grand child enjoyed the kids disco where she joined in all the dances.

| said: The hotel is in a great position in the resort and near to the beach. It has spacious public areas although the rooms are slightly small and have no fridge etc. The balconies are very overlooked and have no sun in the evening.
The hotel was apparently very clean and our room was cleaned every day.
The food was very good with an excellent variety every evening. The dining room can get overcrowded and I can imagine what it would be like in peak season.
The staff were very helpful and efficient.
We did not see any of the hotel entertainment.
The hotel is generally very good and the only two comments I would make are that it is used by an older age group and it can feel like an old peoples home at times. I am in my forties but felt very young.
The other point is that the pool is not heated and was freezing. It was hardly used other than by a few hardy children. I did brave it a few times but started to lose the feeling in my feet after a few minutes.

The reception to the cleaning staff were friendly. The hotel was clean, the food was brilliant, in fact to much to choose from great selection.
The pool was clean, the indoor pool a little small but hey it was relaxing as nobody used it that much. The entertainment from the hotel crew was good (hello paul) loved the Grease and nightfever night also the Tina Turner and Abba tribute was great.
Yes, the mosquitos got me too but that was outside - little blighters - I ended up with a jab and cream then again my fault for not getting the stuff to prevent that happening.
Well done to the hotel you deserve more stars. Thanks for a fab holiday and thank you Santa Ponsa for being such a friendly bunch of people. You really are the best.

The Hotel is located about three minutes from the beach and very central for the whole of the resort.

We would recomend this hotel to friends and we hope to stay there again.

| said: Hello ive just got home from my holiday in santa ponsa. I went with 2 friends althouh my family were also staying in the hotel.
I'm only 18 years of age so for me im assuming Magaluf would be more appropiate but i can't really knock the hotel, the staff were very helpful and it was always very clean.
The pool was abit on the small side for the amount of people in the hotel, however was good none the less.
I started my holiday on the 14th of july 04 and gracefully ended it on the 29th of july. We arrived early morning on the 15th to a warm welcome by the hotel reception staff who quickly sorted us out, The hotel rooms were very nice. Your room key to be plugged into a holder in order for your lights and air conditioning to work, however tip: you can use any card of standard size and it can remain there all holiday, thus my county library card has never been used so much!
As far as food goes, you can go back and eat as much as you want, however i hope you like chips :) deserts were fairly good, can't really knock the fruit, the floor in the dinner room did seem to get slippy quite often so take care when walking into dinner. Another tip would be to use the second lift from the left, we nick named it turbo lift, as it was very nippy :)
As for drinks/the bar its a tad expensive, on my first day there i ordered a bud and a blue wkd and it was 9 euro's. However the bar food wich was available pretty much all day was top nosh, 3 euro 50 for burger chips and a drink was a classic, and 4 euro's for a pizza!
The hotel reps were very good, i recommend aimiee and kerrie, they were very helpful for us.

| said: Just returned from a week in the Rey Don Jamie, and have to agree with most of what everyone else has said. Frankly, I'm amazed it's only a three star, as it gives the impression of being more.
Santa Ponsa is a beautiful resort, and not overly busy like Magaluf, which was nice.
For the ratings on the left, I'd give the hotel 6 stars for some if I could - immaculately clean, with cleaners coming in daily to tidy and clean room. Nice thing is, the cleaners actually care, and go the extra mile - someone below said they saw a cleaner cleaning a miror on the ceiling - I saw one of the cleaners actually leaning out over a balcony to dust a window sill on the 3rd floor...! It's like they actually care about keeping the hotel clean.
The food was fantastic - so much choice you could eat something different every night for evening meal. A wide selection of meats and fish, vegetables, salads, chips, mussels...you name it, it was there. I shan't list any more, but suffice it to say the food was excellent and varied. Breakfast also, with a choice of cereals, breads / toast, cooked breakfasts, fruit, etc.
Location - when we checked into the hotel and looked out of our balcony we were stunned. Clearly we had one of the better located rooms, but our balcony went around the corner of the building, giving us a full 270 degree view. From the front was a beautiful view of the beach / sea about 150m away - this also overlooked the pool, and entertainment area...
...which was really convenient because every night we would sit on our balcony and watch whatever show was on below. Shows we saw included the obligatory staff cabaret, a Chinese state circus type show, a magician ( who was hilarious ), and a River Dance type thing. All very good and entertaining. There was, however, one show which was equally as entertaining because it was so bad. An act called Enigma, a kind of African style act, who just seemed completely random and unrehearsed - highlights included the "flame dancer" who couldn't get his torches to stay lit, and ended prancing around with two sticks in his hand, a man doing gymnastic moves that fell over numerous times, women attempting to do headstands and roundhouse kicks and failing miserably...and general running around and mayhem on the stage. Hilarious, but I digress. In general the entertainment was good, and certainly enough to keep you going should you not want to venture out during the evenings. The staff also encourage you to join in with other activities such as quizzes, bingo, etc. All good.
Staff - polite, courteous, friendly. Can't say any more than that. Would greet you at meal times, and always say "hola" when they passed you.
Reiterating what others have said, you do actually have to queue for sunbeds in the morning, which I've not seen before. Essentially what they do is lock the doors out to the pool area until 8:30 in the mornings - this results in a queue of at least 50 people each morning, and mad dashes to secure a good sunbed. It's the only hotel I've been to where they do this, and I wasn't really that impressed by it. I think that if you really want to get up at 7:00 to lie by the pool, then you should be allowed to - it's your holiday after all.
I would definitely go back here - it impressed me enough to write a review on this forum, so it must have been good.

Due to needs of a member of my party had asked for two adjacent rooms on a low floor. These were allocated no problem. Rooms were really clean and fresh smelling, cleaned every day with fresh towels and linen. (Hint : Not a lot of storage space so pack lightly). Food over the two week stay was magnificent especially if you like sea food. No two meal times were the same. The hotel is only two mins from beach and 10 mins from "Irish Quarter". Best attraction for families is the "Square" Good family entertainment every night. A special mention for the Hotels own entertainment staff espescially Kalle and Paul. Join in the daily games they are fun and a good way to meet new friends.Entertainment in the hotel at night wasnt quite Las Vegas standard but well worth a look. The Beetles UK and Tina Turner are excellent.
In conclusion this was my firt visit to this hotel but it wont be my last.

We normally do not take part in games etc. but were encouraged to do so by the staff and made many new friends. I would visit here again. The only drawback was having to queue to get a sun lounger - and they say the Germans do it!!!!! Perhaps if you charged for them it may be a different story.

Natalia Morales the Customer service manager was very friendly with everyone trying to make sure all there needs were met. The food was fantastic..such a wide variety. the hotel was practically imaculate..we just had one little ant problem in our room, which was sorted out asap by the room stewardess. The location is fantastic, so much so that I'm going back there this year with a friend. The hotel is situated in a great place as it is a 3 min walk from the beach and 5 mins from bars & shops. Hotel staff are so friendly and very helpful, the dining room staff line up and say good morning/evening as you enter the room (at the beginning of breakfast/dinner). The hotel entertainment was really aimed at young children or young families, as we were a family with a5 & 18 yr old the hotel entertainment was not really suited!! We would definately visit this hotel again.

| said: When we booked our holiday at Easter of last year, the Don Jaime was the only hotel on Majorca that we could get a single bedroom for our teenager for the week we wanted. At Lunn Poly we spent two and a half hours trawling through hotels everywhere to find a single bedroom. (We are trying to book a little earlier this year!)
However we were very pleased with our choice. We have to say that we have never gone wrong with Thomson's so far. Hotel was clean, and food very good - plenty of choice. Obviously aimed at British tastes. The hotel was only a short walk away from the beach. The only down side was that the entertainment and activities seemed to be more geared up for the younger children than for teenagers. Ours found a friend though so she was OK and wanted to go back again.
There are so many lovely places to go on holiday to that we normally try somewhere different each year, so when we go back to Majorca we'll probably go to another resort. This hotel is worth another visit in future though, and if we tended to go back to the same hotel each year we would probably go back to this one.

| said: For the first time ever, my entire family decided to go on holiday together - that included a 7, 11, 14 and 16 year old! we arrived first thing in the morning, and were treated to a fantastic full english breakfast, everything you could possibly want. After unpacking, the entertainment staff began their day's activities, ranging from darts, water polo, killer pool etc. The kids were all happily taken care of, leaving their parents to enjoy a fantastic range of drinks at the poolside bar. All the rooms are air-conditioned, and fantasticly clean - we've been on holiday every year for the last 17 years, and this was by far the best place we've ever stayed - amazing food, entertainment, location - 5* for everything!

| said: How wonderful,- and how strange, to find a board about the hotel my family and I used to travel to every year when I was growing up. We would go there for at least 3 weeks every summer and sometime also during fall.
We befrienden everbody there, from Tony, Pacos and Santos in the bar to several of the restaurant servers plus the guy playing the piano every night. We had fun with the football games shown on the big screen and the "model shows" for fun on Saturdays. We webt back year after year and it felt like coming home to us. My grandmother and I have been dying to go back to visit but also fear the changes that have happened there over the years, so I was actually surfing hoping to find some pictures of the hotel as it looks today. Can anyone help me out here????
Thanks!

| said: When you pay just £99 for a last minute "allocate on arrival" holiday to Majorca, you don't expect too much, however ending up at the Rey Don Jaime was a pretty good deal.
I have to agree with the majority and say that the hotel was very good in all aspects. Unfortunately we did have a room at the rear of the hotel with stunning panoramic views of the air-conditioning unit and roof but for the limited time that we (and most people hopefully??!!) spent on the balcony, it was not a problem.
The resort itself appeared very clean and modern with the beach 2 minutes walk away, but lacking slightly in night-life, however Magaluf was just a 5 minute (8 Euro/£5) taxi ride away.
My only complaint was with our own fellow Brits, we are becoming worse than the Germans in sunbed reserving! I did however combat this problem by returning from Magaluf one morning at 5am and took pleasure in throwing all the towels I found already out into the pool.
Hotel caters for all ages and tastes, with both adult and childrens entertainment throughout the day/night and the large lounge and pool bar always seemed to be open!
As for food, excellent choice and quantity. If you are really that bothered about chips and other @#%$, there is a McDonalds 2 minutes walk away or better still, stay in Blighty and go to Butlins!

| said: ok, well i have to start with the comment from the person who said that there was hot dogs for breakfast and there was no variety...are you sure you went to this hotel? i don't think that i could possibly fault the food at all at the rey don jaime. fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, hash browns, eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms, pureed fruit, toast, an abundancy of tea/coffee/juice...just what exactly do you expect from a 3* hotel?? if you wanted a place that catered for 'kids' then this did..just because there were no pop tarts or any of the other synthetic rubbish that you feed your kids with does not make this a bad hotel for food!!!! in the evenings, selection of 'good' and 'bad' foods, so that you are not limited to 'burger and chips' but instead a delicious variety of dishes, including fresh fish, salad, pasta dishes, chips (for those who cannot live without them), roast dinners plus gravy (wot no coronation street?! oh dear...) with a selection of cheeses, biscuits, desserts, yoghurts & coffee for afters. eat as much as you like, plenty of variety for those who don't want to leave a few pounds heavier than when they arrived (my mum actually LOST 2lbs when we went, dining like a queen, having lost 5stone before we arrived). final comment on this matter: superb. if you just want mundane, english fried @#%$, then sure, you can have it, but don't complain if there are delicious alternatives, and not just a fast food gaff. we loved it.
decent room, view over-looked back of hotel, so if rubbish bins and feral cats are not your thing, i would recommend asking for a room at the front of the hotel. by all means, this did not ruin our holiday at all. air conditioning did not work, and wasn't repaired, BUT, hey, it was a cheap holiday and the quality of the food/ location of the hotel etc outweighed this slight hiccup.
beach was lovely, not too crowded (and we went in june/july so wasn't exactly off peak, so to speak). beware of beach toilets..........dark and filthy, just like the ones at home, so perfect for all you traditionalists.
the little beach cafe was excellent, friendly staff, joking about the @#%$ weather the english have. they were polite, attentative and very helpful.
plenty of shops, mini-mart things nearby, a chemist, loads of restaurants and plenty of night life a bit further down the road from the rey don jaime, english pubs, irish pubs, clubs etc etc.
excursions that JMC organised were great...well, the ones we went on were, including a trip to a monastry, an old train excursion that went around the mountains and a wildlife park with a bit of history thrown in. you could have the option of going on the clubbing trips, but i wasn't up for this as i was with my mum, and i couldn't trust her to behave herself.
had a bit of a noise problem a few nights, with groups of 'lads' and their oh-so-cool ghetto blasters & rap music, and a few 2am wake up calls from hysterical, drunk, teenage girls cantering knickerless down the corridors, after a wild night out, free from the restrictions of mummy and daddy for the first time in their lives, ricocheting from wall to wall as they feverishly searched for their door key in their moc-croc micro handbags. but there, we were all young once (and i still am actually, unless you'd call 18 old that is).
all in all, we had a fantastic relaxing break, and i highly recommend this hotel. we would go again this year, however mum's anti-thrombosis flight stockings shrunk in the wash, and she refuses to travel without them!!! and i'm saving up for a boob job, so rey don jaime will have to wait.
watch out next year!!!!!

| said: I dont know about jmc but in Thomson it is a 'young at heart' holiday and that would lead you to beleive it is not really a place for children. We stayed for 10days but wish it could have been longer. We went in March which I suppose is out of season but had a throughly enjoyable time. Cannot really fault anything about the cleanliness and food and location. The staff were always very helpful. My wife and I were looking on the web to possibly book there again when we came upon this site. All we can say is highly recommeded.
