| said: We have recently returned form this hotel and i feeled compelled to comment on this to provide holiday makers with a true reflection on this hotel. My honest opinon to you would be- dont do it!!
When we arrived at the hotel our bags were taken off us straight away and taken to our rooms, we had just got off a long flight and was told basic information on our room. We were informed our air con would be '4' per day, having not thought this would mean anything other than Lera, we gladly accepted the air con on this daily charge basis.
Our apartment was on the ground floor, we had no balcony area other than a small rear patio area, we had a window that would not close, our electrics kept tripping, a light in the kitchen smashed when turned on, a leak in the bathroom and a shower that flooded the bathroom each time it was used!! Our sheets were changed ONCE and our towels were changed no more than 3 times. We did request a room cange but were told no other rooms were available. We did get the impression this hotel is full of regulars who reserve the 'best' rooms before they come.
The staff were not very welcoming at all other than one or two of them. We found the nicest of the whole of the people who run or live at the hotel was the family dog!!
When it came to our last day, we were more than ready to leave. We headed to the reception to settle our tab and air con bill. One of the Turkish staff members gave us our bill- it turns out the air con was priced in english pounds. We were obviously not happy with this as we had no idea this would be case. After much negotiation we go the price down but no by much!! We felt very cheated by this. Our pick up for departures were on a notice board in the reception, it stated 3.00am - 3.45am. At 1.55am there was loud knocking at our door, we answered and it was a member of the Turkish staff advising us we were now being picked up at 2.00pm and should have been informed by the english owner of the hotel, who didnt speak to us once during our visit. This was the last straw.
Please do not dismiss this review as i did when researching this hotel before our trip. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone!!

| said: well just got back had a two week trip to poppy apartments...my disapointment is with goldtrail and not the owners of this wonderful place to stay.
many thanks to the owners of poppy and staff thanks so much for a wonderful stay.the turkish night was great and its worth going just to see the belly dancer boy is she good..food is top marks you cant beat there full english breakfast also the meatballs yum..air con good and dont you need it ..pool and chairs top marks plenty of inflatables in the pool to use free of charge plenty of beer and redbull at bar plenty of seating with a pool table aswell .beach a little walk away.there is no views on the lower floors in the appartments but who needs views just walk to the front gate and look at the view wow wow and it was very hot.the owners speak very good english so if there is any worries dont be worried to ask them they will do anything to make your stay there a happy one but if your not happy and dont tell them how can they fix any problems you may have.top marks poppy see you soon

| said: These apartments were truley appalling. The rooms were dirty, the toilet was blocked. The shower rail fell down when touched to show off a chipped and rusty shower tray. The handle fell off the balcony door. There was no decent cutlery or cups. The four cheap mugs were chipped. The woodwork was "distressed" as stated on a previos report but really it was filthy. Then there was the disgusting smell in the room. The apartments were so bad we had to find other acomodation this was on our own as there was no rep from Goldtrail available.

| said: We had a wonderful time at the Poppy Apartments. The staff were friendly and very entertaining. A short walk away from the shops, the beach, and the bars. We will definitely consider going back again to see the friends we made at Poppy.
If you want somewhere to relax, have fun, and make some lifelong friends Poppy is the place to go!

Will definately go back to Poppy, the staff were wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The pool and grounds were spotless, as was the apart which had air con, kettle, fridge, cooker (not that you'll need it, the chef is amazing!)!
The aparts are about 5/10mins walk from Calis strip which is just off the beach (black sand/shingle). There are two supermarkets about 5mins away or you can buy basic stuff through reception (water, bread etc). It was my sisters birthday while we were there and everyone was brilliant; they did a fabulous bbq and cake, it was just superb! Thankyou SO SO much to all the staff at Poppy, you really made the trip and we can't wait to come back next summer.
I reccommend Poppy to families, couples, friends and anyone wanting a peaceful, happy holiday with excellent accomodation and wonderful staff!

A 5 minute stroll to the beach and the aqua park just around the corner
The pool was cleaned every morning and there were always plenty of sunbeds to go around.
Best of all about this hotel is the warmth and friendliness of the owners and the staff, they couldn't do enough for you.
We only had snacks in the hotel bar all of them really good quality and cheap.
All in all this is a small basic hotel with the most friendly relaxing atmosphere you could wish for. Just what we wanted.

| said: Poppy apartments were fantastic and only 5 min stroll to the beach.
Very clean and very friendly. We didnt like the location of our first apartment on the ground floor so we asked to be moved to the top floor and it happened within 2 hours.
Staff were willing to help at all times of day and night. We arrived about 5am to be greeted by the porter we carried our cases and we were waved off by the staff a week later.
Pool was spotless and cleaned every morning.
Try the food in the restaurant - cheap and good quality.
Will visit again.

| said: Poppy Apartments has a charming close knit community with all the bar staff and cleaning staff being as friendly as the rest of the people in Turkey.
The rooms are basic but perfectly inhabitable. The air conditioning is fantastic and definitely recommended even though you do have to pay for it (it was life saving) The only small issue I had was with the shower, limited hot water and it wasn't the strongest of showers.
The pool is cleaned daily. Not only do they refill it with clean water but all the usual stuff as well.
Poppy bar is small and cosy where you can normally find Mel (one of the owners of Poppy apartments) of an evening, everyone is so friendly once you get to know them.
There is pool in the bar which is free and a wide-screen TV and video games for the kids.
You can book any trips through the reception and there's always someone there to help you out.
Poppy apartments is peaceful but yet not dull. Just the right amount of people there for a good relaxing holiday where you don't feel too excluded.
The hotel is in a fantastic place in Calis, only a short walk down a path and you're on the main road.

| said: The poppy apt on first arrival is a bit of a shock, the wood work in the rooms looked very dirty but on closer inspection the owners have attemped to paint the wood and give it a distrested look they have sucseeded. Apart from making cups of tea in our room we never cooked anything. There is a cooker and utensils provided.
We only had a snack in the bar and it was not very nice to be honest. We never tried the food again.
The location was ok, though its a lot more than the 350 metres to the beach. It was taking us about 10 mins to walk to beach.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull, the room was cleaned every other day and clean towels 2 bath sheets and 2 hand towels daily.
The only bad thing to say about this holiday is the frogs, no we are not joking. They bark like dogs all night, they are living in the gulley around the pool, but once you get used to them you can sleep all day on the sun loungers.
We would go back again, it was a lovely restful holiday.

| said: We stayed at the apartment June 2005 as we have done for the past 8 years. The apartments are always spotless.
The bar is always well stocked, the restaurant has a wide range of choice on the menu.
The road leading to the apartment is a bit bumpy but I have walked up and down it on crutches many a time and not had a problem.
The staff can never do enough for you they will help with any problems.
The entertainment is excellent if there is anything you want them to put on for you they will ie BBQ Turkish nights. If you are celebrating a birthday or anything while there they go out of there way to make this very enjoyable.
We have visited many time and will be visiting many more times along with other friends and relatives

| said: The apartments were set in a dusty backstreet alongside an unmade road. The immediate area was rubble strewn building plots or swamp.
The rooms were very basic and ill-equipped and maintained. A letter on the room door asked for tips for the cleaner but the room was as dirty on departure as on arrival. The only evidence of a cleaner was the fact the waste bin was emptied daily. A large stain decorated one wall where a previous guest had thrown a cup of coffee - I removed it myself on day 3.
We ate out most days luckily as the supposedly self-catering accomodation lacked all but the most basic equipment - 2 pans, a frying pan, 4 Knives, a swiss army can opener/cork screw, 4 cups, 4 glasses and one spatula. That's the lot! No sink plug.
There was frequently no hot water and the bathroom was black mouldy with no sink plug.
There was a small bar restaurant and the weeks entertainment was a Turkish night we didn't attend as the manager constantly badgered us to pay £10 pp to go.
Mosquitoes were a problem not helped by a stagnant gully running around the pool. The pool was freezing as it was filled daily by pump from the mains - no filter?
I would not visit again.
On the transfer back to the airport there were 3 seats short on the coach and I and 2 others had to stand all the way or sit on the floor but that is down to Goldtrail whose rep was not in attendance on departure. Luckily there were no problems at the airport.
We paid a full price for a low budget hotel.

| said: We stayed in self catering apartments on the top floor The contents were basic but everything we needed was there, but we didn't expect anything different.
The hotel staff made the beds, and changed the bed sheets every second day, the bins were emptied and cleaned and towels were replaced daily (placed on the bed in the design of a poppy flower).
We used the aircon in the room (cost £4) all and all night as this kept the mosquitoes at bay with the help of the mosquito screens that are fitted to the windows.
The pool was warm and was cleaned and filtered approx 7.30am in the morning on a daily basis ready for the guests to use. Also a range of pool equipment (masks snorkels, flippers, inflatable toys and rubber rings) were available for anyone to use free of charge in the pool.
We ate in the hotel restaurant/bar, the bar /restaurant was clean and tidy with a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day and night. The food was very enjoyable, when we wanted to eat in our room, the hotel caterer took our order and delivered the meals to our room by room service.
The hotel staff and manager were very welcoming and treated us and our friends as part of the family. One day whilst we sat round the pool on the clean and free use sunbeds, we asked for some ice-cream (which at the time we did not know they didn't keep at the hotel)they took our order and went to the shop(150 metres away) and bought them. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff they we fantastic.
The entertainment night was good, staff and hotel guests mixed together (which created a warmer, welcoming and friendlier environment) the Turkish belly dancer encouraged the hotel guests and staff to participate in the belly dancing which was really good fun. A help yourself to as much as you want buffet was prepared and laid out, English and Turkish food (Poppies carved into melon to create melon lantern centerpieces).
We would go back to the Poppy apartments for our holiday, as it was the most enjoyable environment we have stayed in, although it is down a dust road.
