| said: Booked this hotel as a 'secret hotel' on lastminute. com and what a bargain we got. 5 star hotel, right in the centre of Edinburgh. Very impressed from the start - booked room only, but there is a kettle with tea and coffee provided, a mini-bar which wasn't too badly priced and room service available - can't comment on the food, but sampled some house wine!
Hotel was very clean and well presented. No faults here - when we got to our room we had been left a note which stated that new beds had just been installed and we were the first to use them (for the record, they are fab!)
The location is excellent - right in the centre of town, ideal for shops and sites. Staff are helpful and friendly - especially the spa staff who make sure you have the necessities: bathrobe, flip-flops, towels as well as giving you the full tour and lots of helpful advice without making you feel stupid for being 'spa virgins' like me and my friend were.
Entertainment gets a 5 - purely because of the spa. Reputed to be the best in Scotland, it deserves all the acolades it has been given. If you are staying at the hotel, the swimming pool, cleopatra baths and gym are free. Booking the 'Escape at One' package (£20 for hotel guests for 2 1/2 hours), lets you use the spa facilities, including the roof top pool. Great for recovering after a hard week and you feel totally blissed out afterwards!!! Treatments are available but the scented steam rooms, massage jets and pools do a great job of relieving stress......
I would definitely visit this hotel again - was gutted to only be staying one night as I could have used the spa on the sunday to recover from the Edinburgh nightlife......
