Talayot Hotel - Cala Millor.

Myself, Wife Mary and Daughter Natasha. Before I start I would like to thank all the staff and friends we met for making our holiday a memorable one. So thank you for that.
Just back from a Stay and Cruise. The first week was a stay in the Talayot and the second week was on board the Destiny. See report for Destiny on Cruise Review.
We arrived at the Talayot on 10th July at 11pm. Lost one of the bags at the airport, hence the late arrival. Thompson reps got us a taxi to the hotel. (No Charge). Got there and the place was in darkness apart from Candles everywhere. We were met by Andreas who apologised for the power failure. He took us to the dining room were there was food laid on for the late arrivals. Not bad seeing as it was 11pm. Nothing like a candle lit dinner on your fist night. The power was restored after an hour or so. This hotel is quite old in comparison to a lot of hotel complex’s around the Med. But I have to say the rooms were large albeit a bit dated. There was a fridge in the room with tea making facilities. (No charge). The bedding and towels were cleaned daily. The dining room was air conditioned and you were shown to your table which was your table for the duration of your stay. This was fantastic given that in some hotels if you go up for an orange you come back and find some idiots sitting in your seat and not willing to budge without an argument. You can have waiter service from the allacart menu for an extra charge. But the food on the buffet was lovely. The fresh salad with a choice of cold meats and fish and the presentation of this was fantastic. The choice of meats from the hot plate was brilliant every night. Different choices every day and not a cold spud in sight. The was entertainment laid on every night. Andreas normally started with his “bloody” bingo which was followed by outside entertainment. Andreas always uses the word “bloody” but it is the way he says it with out it sounding like a swear word. Some Elderly man complained to me that he should not say it in front of the children. I stated I have a 9 year old and I was not offended because its how he says it. Very funny and helpful man. The pool areas is a bit dated with buildings looking into the pool area from all sides. But you soon ignore that. There is no problem getting a sun bed even if you came down at 11 in the morning you will always get a bed by the pool. There is very few children in this hotel. Mostly geared towards the elderly. This was fine by me as they certainly did not want to rush down to the pool. My 9 year old daughter had a lovely time in this hotel making new friends with the other children. This is a small hotel which means that you got too know most of the other guests and they were all willing to stop and have a chat with you unlike some of the bigger complex’s I have been too.. The location of the hotel is on the sea front in Cala Millor. Nice resort with bars restaurants and shops all along the prom. To the left you walked the prom to Cala Millor and to the right you walked the prom to San Coma. So the Talayot was right in the centre. Lovely Resorts. I would have no problem booking this hotel again. Take my advise and go there if you want a quiet hotel with very good service and food.

This Hotel is in a superb location with many bars ,shops and restaurants nearby. We booked a seaview which had stunning views along the coast. We suggest you go for a seaview or otherwise you are overlooking the streets. The Hotel was very clean and tidy and a bonus the cleaners to not arrive until about 11.00 so you get some peace.
The food was OK as long as you like beef or pork and alternates night to night. This is OK if you expect British food as there was no Spanish food all week.Tinned mixed veg and chips are your only choice. The salads were good however with a good selection. The sweets were the usual jelly and tinned fruit. However there was fresh pineapple and melon hidden away. One thing that upset us after paying well over £1100 for the holiday we were asked if we wanted to pay an extra 2.5 euros each we could have strawberries and spray cream the next night! You have your own table allocated for the holiday so you are assured a table which we found a good idea.
The staff were OK but we found one to be a bit abrupt. The entertainment was low key and aimed at the older people. The usual bingo and ballroom dancing prevailed. One night there was a parrot show which is daft as there were no kids in the Hotel.
One other annoying thing was that there was no privacy on the balcony with only low walls separating the rooms.
However we think that if we returned to the resort then we would use this hotel again.

Excellent Hotel, with friendly staff. However, watch if you book Full Board as it only includes one course lunch in their cafe without even a drink. Your menu is off a separate single sheet but a good choice on offer. It is not worth the extra you pay as plenty of local cafes much cheaper where you could also get a drink for the price you pay. Main hotel food very good but lots of the salad items had dishes with fish mixed in, if thats what you like. Hot food excellent. Entertainment would have been better located around the pool area outside rather than inside. Good variety of acts. Hotel not really for kids. Most guests well into OAP status. Rooms comfortable and clean.

This was a last minute booking due to the floods (we were meant to be in Scarborough then Blackpool!) It was a choice of 3 hotels and we were so pleased when we got the Talayot as it was in a perfect position right on the front in the middle of the promenade between Cala Bona and Cala Millor. We had some lovely walks along the prom and sat looking out on the Med Bliss! We have stayed in the area before at The Hotel Alicia (very nice too!) Talayot had nice rooms, good food and very friendly staff, the entertainment was not much which hence the lower score however the guy who runs it deserves a 5 as he is so funny especially when he does the bingo!! If I stayed again I would pay extra to have a full seaview. great hotel worth a visit.

We stayed at the Hotel Talayot for one week on half board, the last time we stayed at the Talayot was about 12 years ago and were so pleased then that we wanted to return to this hotel again in April 2006

When we arrived at the Hotel it was midnight and when checking in we were told that the restaurant was still open for people arriving late. We cannot fault this Hotel in any way, the food was first class the hotel location located on the shoreline just perfect and the staff could not have been any more friendly.

I would point out that the entertainment is geared more to adults and there is little to entertain young children

We are planning to return to the Talayot again in September 2006 and would recommend this Hotel to anyone without young children.

An enjoyable week was had at the Talayot Hotel, but a week was enough. The hotel entertainment is geared to senior citizens.

You could not fault the quality of the food, but shepherds pie or roast beef with yorkshire pudding which were both on the dinner menu as part of the buffet were not very exciting.

Staff were all excellent and I would highly recommend Ericas sangria.

Location was great, very convienient for the beach, boat trips, shops etc.

Bedrooms were adequate with good air conditioning but not on the generous size, we could not find room to put cases away.

Whilst we would return to the Talayot if we wanted a quiet holiday, we will perhaps wait till we are in our sixties.

Tthis was our first visit to this hotel and it won't be our last.

It had the warmest and best food I have ever had in a hotel. Andreas' paella and sangria demonstration is not to be missed.

It is a well situated hotel and is friendly and clean.

We will certainly be back.

Last minute booking had no idea where we were going, couldn’t have picked better if we had been able.

Staff fantastic, food very good, location great as well.

The only complaint I could make was that the room was a bit small but that was insignificant when taking the holiday as a whole.

Would definitely go again. Andreas making paella is not to be missed.

First time in this hotel, we could not fault it. Our room looked out over the sea (I had requested this by e.mail) and we had a corner balcony so got the best of the sun.

We rarely stay in a hotel in the evening but we did here and it was good, particularly Tony's disco ,he plays music for all kinds of dancing.

The food is good and the bedrooms and all areas very clean.
The position is great as it is between Cala Bona and Cala Millor.

We have stayed in several hotels here but this was our favourite.

Fantastic place to go, activities for all ages. Food is the best I've had whilst on holiday, and is a lot better than some restaurants over here.

Superb location and view with all activities you would want within walking distance.

Andres is hilarious, his bingo will make you cry with laughter and make sure you go to the paella class.

Overall 10 out of 10, recommend it to anyone.

A homely and excellently run hotel, with cleanliness and efficiency very notable.

The room was spacious and the air conditioning functioned quietly and effectively.

The public areas are well set out with large conservatory overlooking the sea and well decorated surroundings.

The food was very good, as was the restaurant, again, very clean and open, with nominated tables.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff were excellent - especially Andres, (his bingo session is unmissable !)

I understand why people go back year after year - Bravo the Talayot !

Hey,
just come back from there today, only went for a week and really enjoyed it, and we were shocked by ho quickly the week went. The food was good as long as your not fussy, there wasn't a great deal of choice, but as long as you like pork and beef you would be fine as it is freshly carved for you when you want it. the hotel was very clean, wasn't a speck of dirt anywhere, the cleany ladies do work really hard! the location was very good and really pleasant, although the sea had lots of seaweed in it, not really suitable for swimming in! the hotel staff were nice enough, although i didnt find them that friendly, maybe its just me because everybody else seemed to think they were, but andreas was lovely! you must go on one of his walks, as he's really funny! i thought the entertainment was a bit of a disappointment, but it is only a small hotel so you can't really expect good entertainment! i would visit the hotel again as i have had a lovely weeks, the only downside was that the swimming pool wasn't very big, and the swimming pool area is really shady because of the pine trees! Also, this is very much an older persons hotel, not many children at al, mainly couples over 65!

We stayed at this hotel after a week on a cruise, and were expecting it to be a bit of a let down after being on the boat We were wrong the hotel was great, the food was actually better than on the cruise, every where was so clean and well looked after. The indoor pool was great - not so many children there, but not sure about high season. Many people had been there time and time again. The entertainment was good and the staff very friendly. Good pool bar and eating area, food and drinks very cheap. Would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone. Would like to go back.

The hotel itself is great. It has two swimming pools an indoor and an outdoor both of which are really clean. The deckchairs are well comfy. The pool bar is fabulous especially when Andreas does his Paella demonstration once a week, definately one to watch. The Hotel Talayot overlooks the sea and the views are absolutely fab. I would recommend everyone to go from all ages. We have been 5 times now and are going again this year - can't wait!

Travelled with Thomson, April 18, 2003.
Hotel, food and staff all excellent.
Weather good, but had been poorish week before. Plenty of seaweed on rocks and some on sands. Didn't spoil the holiday for us or the little one. What do you expect at the seaside? Would recommend hotel and resort.
