We arrived at our hotel about 11.30pm so it was dark so could not see to much. We picked up our keys and went straight to our apartment, it was massive, two bedrooms two bath rooms and a huge lounge and kitchen area and matchbox balcony, and it was very clean.
This hotel has nothing apart from a unheated outdoor pool with a small snack bar. There is a bar and restaurant at the main entrance but are nothing to do with the hotel. The bar is very small 6 people and it's packed but you can sit outside.
This hotel is stuck in the middle of nowhere, which we soon found out in the morning. Alvor is a taxi job which is 5 euros one way or Portimao 5 euros the other way, you can walk to Portimao and will take you about half hour, along the cliff tops great views.
The beach is clean and even in October the sea is not cold. There are plenty of bars in Portimao and gift shops. Warning you will be approached and asked if you want any duty frees or drugs, stay well clear. You can spot these people as they hang around the corners on the street watching you go in the duty free shops then pounce when you come out, they work in small gangs. I would advise avoid Portimao and go to Alvor it's so much nicer with its cobbled streets and restaurants. Even better stay somewhere more central than this place because unless you drive you will get very bored quick.
This hotel has nothing, no shop, not even a drinks machine, will not be returning.

There is a small beach if you go out of the back gates of the apartments. It is about 5 mins in a taxi to Praia da Rocha.
The only problem is it is quite isolated and it is necessary to take a taxi to Praia da Rocha, Alvor or Portomao for anything.
Try Modelo shopping centre in Portomao.
