| said: firstly i know a holiday is what you make of it, which is true, however things need to improve otherwise i feel people will not put up with the standard being offered, yes i know its only rated 2 star which i feel they are being generous, when you have to sleep on camp beds, eat very poor meals indeed, on the plus side the staff are excellent, esp toni which he ensures a good time is being had, by not just the kids, he was excellent indeed, location of the hotel was very good, would we go back im not too sure, probably not.

| said: Good value for money hotel I have stayed in 4 and 5* hotels before so was a bit worried I needn't have been though hotel was very clean and had good facilites.
Food was good cooked brekfast cereals continenal.Evening meal was good also soup salad bar and adults and kids meals.
There was a daytime and evening enterainment programme run by Toni which was good and there was always different entertinment each night.
Only downside not much for our 18month old to do but swimming pool was a hit.
Ask for a room at the back or side of the hotel as it is a bit quieter we never had any problems that we mentioned in the previous report.

| said: This hotel is certainly in need of a makeover, it is dated and although clean gives the overall impression of being shabby - The pools were acceptable but if you were up later than 9.00 am you would struggle for a bed although the ones that had towels on were not used until the afternoon.
The food was only avarage, we managed to eat at both breakfast & dinner but if you are a fussy eater you would struggle to find anyhting half decent to eat, my children lived on chips& gravy and ice cream for the whole week, not acceptable really as this holiday although not the most expensive was not the cheapest either so the food should of been of a higher quality.
The noise in the hotel was unbeleivable, I am a heavy sleeper and I was still woken at stupid hours like 0300-0400 am with other guests screaming, shouting, swearing, arguing, smashing glasses, throwing each other into the pool, the list is endless, the night staff failed to deal with this night after night so it was allowed to continue - this was what put me off the most - I would not return to this hotel, my own safety & the safety of my family is paramount and I felt quite vunrable so please be warned !!

| said: Hotel anfora playa, Es Cana. Rooms are very basic but cleaned daily. Unfortunately this year the weather was particularly bad out of 14 days we had 4 days of sunshine.
Spent quite alot of the time in the room could do with updating and perhaps a Tv. The food at breakfast was good always something to find. But in the evening the meals we were not that good, especially if the chef was cooking on the grill would only turn the meat once, which was usually reddy in colour.
The soup was always excellent. The entertainment team Ana and Tony were excellent during the day and evening. Happy hour is a joke normally you get 2 for price of 1 but in the Anfora Playa 1/3rd off drinks and they are expensive.
Enjoyed the time we spent there but would go there again, reception told us we had a sunny room we were in the front no sun at all.

| said: we booked this hotel in desparation due to a cock up by a firm which will remain nameless. The staff on taking the booking were extremely polite kind and helpful. When we arrived at the hotel we were shocked at the amount of noise going on in the Hotel. The entertainment could be heard over the whole resort and we were placed in room directly over the "stage" even though we had our baby 17 months old with us. We did request to be moved and the receptionist agreed that she would move on on the Weds(we arrived on Monday so 2 nights of sheer hell). The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful and if you could win an award for that then this hotel would be top notch. Unfotunately everything else, the rooms the noise the food etc etc let the place down.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE A SMALL CHILD WHO DOES NOT REACT WELL TO EXCESSIVE NOISE

| said: Just arrived home from the holiday from hell staying at the Anfora Playa. The food was so disgusting it was not for human consumption. we stayed for two weeks and ate out most of the time so make sure you budget for eating out if you dont want to starve.
The first week we could get a sunbed easily but the second week we were sat waiting until 9.40 for them to clean around pool area and open the gates. I cant say that I seen them actually clean the large pool which was why so many were coming down with ear infections. Both my children had the infections in both ears.
The hotel could do with a complete makeover and add the all important airconditioning. never would I go back again, its only good if you need to lose weight.

| said: We stayed here in June 07 and after reading the reviews from others we were not looking forward to it at all, but I have to say we had a great time.
We stayed half board and the food was ok not much to choose from but it was all cooked well. The rooms are very basic but it is only a 2 star, the furniture is a bit out of date but really thats just picking holes!.
The hotel was very clean the rooms cleaned everyday except tuesday and the towels changed everyday.
The staff were friendly toni the daytime entertainer was great really nice guy asked if you wanted to join in with games but never kept on at you, we did have a run in with the other entertainer who was very rude, but we still had a good time a holiday is what you make it!!
The location of the hotel was very good a couple of minutes from the shops and the beach, but we stayed around the pool most of the time as the pool around the back was good, and as the gates didnt open till 9am there was no saving sunbeds!!
The only reason we wouldnt visit again is the hotel oppersite is quite a big one and the noise at night goes on till early hours, so if you do go get a room around the back.

The food was OK but not much choice and so if you did'nt like cauliflour you'd had it 'cos it was on the menu almost every night in varying concoctions!
The staff were not all that friendly (the maids were the nicest members).
The entertainment did'nt really appeal to us as we went into the resort every evening as bingo, kareoke and the like were not our thing.
The location was spot on as just a short stroll down to the beach front.

If the staff of the Anforra playa read this especially Jack and Mandy I would like to say a heartfelt thankyou to them both for befriending my extremely well behaved children.I personally will never forget your hand of friendship.
I don't have a good comment about the food i'm afraid.i felt the food was 'scraping the bottom of the freezer' before closure.
out of fourteen evening meals we ate about six.

The staff were really helpful, Samantha the Hotel's entertainment person was super.
We had no complaints with cleanliness in any area of the hotel.
The meals were good, although there was not a lot of choice, but we always found something we liked. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been welcome(but then it is only 2*).
There was also entertainment of some sort(live artist, karaoke, and/or bingo) every evening.

| said: We have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the Anfora Playa Hotel in Es Cana.
This was our 3rd visit over the last 5 years and we had an ace time.
Hotel was spotless and the cleanliness of the rooms was excellent with rooms being cleaned 6 days per week.
Reception, bar and entertainment staff were all great especially Mandy in the Bar who was most kind and helpful throughout our stay.
Entertainment was good and there were at least 3 live acts per week plus the usualy bingo/karaoke night.
All ages of people were there and it was a really friendly atmosphere.

| said: This hotel is small, clean and friendly. The staff and guests are mainly british which makes it easy for everyone to get to know each other.
Our three kids aged 15,13 and 8 made so many friends they didn't want to go out of the hotel. The entertainment was limited but enough to keep my family happy and we had great fun with the games organised by Janice - although there was never pressure to join in if you didn't want to.
The pool areas are both pleasant and there is never a rush for sunbeds as they are plentiful. Be warned however, that ear infections amongst the children were rife and the local doctors will charge 90 euros just to examine you.
The food is nice and there is always a choice of menu. If you fancy a change it is very cheap to eat out in es Cana.
This is a great hotel for families wanting to get away from the crowds during peak season. there is a great atmosphere and we found our 2 weeks were a great chillout.

| said: We travelled to this hotel in 2 family groups the youngest was aged 9 and the oldest aged 77.
The rooms were clean and spacious, cleaned 6 times a week and bedding and towels changed regularly.
Food was repetitive but plentiful.
The new pool at the back was very good and had plenty of room for swimming,sun-bathing and games etc, the pool bar had a good selection of food available and the bar staff were very sociable, jack does a trivia quiz every day and the winner gets a shot of something hot and distgusting in a glass, I only won it once ( thank god).
The entertainment could have been better, but thanks to some lovely people we met, we made our own.the smallness of the hotel meant that it was easy to get to know people and this applied to all ages within our party, although I am not sure who were the biggest kids! Janice and the water polo was always interesting and I still think the ladies versus mens match would have been great fun if it ever happened!!
The holiday is what you make it and ours was great!
All in all, it is only a 2 star hotel but we would gladly return again.

| said: When arriving at the Anfora Player, from the outside it looked really nice, all white washed and quite impressive, however all that changed when we went through the door.It was like going back in time to the 60's. Dark wood everywhere, including brown paint work. It looked clean enough, but looking closely the upholstery on the chairs were filthy.
The room was spacious but the beds weren't comfortable, candlewick bedspreads were the norm so that surprised me.
I know I'm moaning, but the food was shocking, my husband is a head chef and he says it was terrible. The salads weren't bad but we still ate out quite a lot even though we were half board.
The play area for small children was nice, but they needed constant supervision as it wasn't child friendly in a lot of places.
The pools looked clean and tidy, but I never saw them being cleaned.
Entertainment looked ok, but we never stayed in as it felt like being in a working mens club.
The staff were helpful.
The rooms were cleaned and towels left daily but on 3 occasions, the cleaners forgot to leave them so we helped ourselves from the laundry closet.
All in all it wasn't up to scratch and we prefer nicer hotels, but probably in its heyday it was one of the places to go.
Location is good, but we have visited Es cana so many times, there are lots of better hotels but it did its job,but we wont be going again.
I've wrote this based on our opinion but other families would rave about this hotel, but the choice is entirely up to you.
Thank you for listening ....The Humphrey Family.

Meals were ok although did get a bit boring, always three choices for main meals, though not much for younger kids. Bar staff are all excellent and Janice was brill at getting people involved but did n't pester if you just want to laze about.
Playground, table tennis, table football, three pool tables and kids pool. Our party with two adults, one 18yr one 16yr old and one 14yr old loved it, but I have to say they did all have ear ache sometime during the holiday as did some other people.

| said: This Hotel is a very well run hotel.
The staff are very friendly.
The food was limited in selection but edible.
We visited this hotel twenty odd years ago and it hadn't changed much. Typically Spanish. A few structural alterations maybe but thats all,i.e: addition of a larger pool at rear of hotel.
No air con, have to hire fans, 2 euros a day, which seemed cheaper than other establishments. Rooms cleaned 6 times a week.
Very clean hotel. Restaurant staff worked flat out. Bar staff Kerry, Jack, Mandy were very hospitable and helpful, asset to the hotel. Reception staff very polite and helpful too. T
he entertainment during the day could be more fulfilling. Really wasn't drawn to the hotel evening entertainment either.
We went back to this hotel as it held a lot of wonderful memories. We were only disappointed with entertainment qualities,(Pete, the night watchman would have made a good entertainer, he had a wicked sense of humour, as did Jack), we did enjoy our fortnight stay there. Thanks to all. Sorry didn't mention Janice what a lovely lady, she tried her best to unite holiday makers.(Entertainments organiser).

The rooms were really clean and the maids visited 6 times a week with clean towels every day. We were a family of 4 sharing a room which was plenty big enough.
The food is pretty dire, especially the breakfast which was undercooked and dripping in oil. The kids ate chips every night which they didn’t complain about too much.
Kid’s entertainment was rubbish and that along with the food would put me off of returning.
I didn’t see the pools being cleaned at all whilst there and ear infections were rife.
Bar staff were great, really friendly and the bar food at lunch time was great.

| said: Stayed at Anfora as a late booking normally travel with relatives but went on own this time. The hotel has single rooms as well as twin ones for families and not small as was expecting.
Hotel in a good position central for most things as Es cana is only a small place, hotel staff all very helpful.
The food could be better but for a small hotel was fine as cooking too much and having fancy stuff would certainly push the price up, entertainment is on but didn't see a lot of it.
They have two swimming pools one the front with shade and sunbeds and a brand new one at the back finished this year, this is a real sun trap and gets hot. The bar man Jack is a right laugh, enjoyed it so much already booked again for 2005.
Keep up the good work Anfora.
