| said: We had booked into another hotel and the standard was so bad we decided not to stay (your had to hire a smoke detector for your room) - we were faced with walking the streets until we flagged down a taxi explained our predicament and were taken to this hotel - it was way out of our budget but we booked into an apartment which was all that was available for that night.
What we walked into was pure luxury - living room, dining room, kitchen bathroom. We asked at reception to be downgraded the next day and they let us stay where we were for the next 3 nights of our stay at the room only charge.
We are booked up again to visit at the end of this month - this time we are taking our two teenage sons and they have given us a previous visitors rate along with a fire brigade discount - we could have found cheaper accommodation but we are going on our last experience and have decided that this place is for us - it is working out at £20 per person per night to stay in a luxury aparment in a hotel that is centrally located. Across from Penn station and Madison square gardens - it has lovely luxurious rooms and really friendly staff - and it gives a fire brigade discount - what more could you ask for
