Yes - Been to Minehead again - left a review when I visited last July and just recently returned with my 6 yr old daughter again - It was as good as ever, paid £100 for the week on Half Board - Great Value.
Accommodation small but clean and its only a base so not bothered about the colour scheme, make of the TV etc.
Lots of people seem to moan about the Polish Staff. Why? They mainly work in the Restaurants and ok they do lack a bit of English but they are efficent and lets face it, without them working there the whole place would collapse. I cant see a 18yr old spotty teenager from the neighboring town being as efficent and take so much pride in their work as these guys do!
Anyway rant over - Go to Butlins, and as I said before, don't go looking for faults, if you have kids that love to be entertained and you like to be in the thick of the action you cant get a better type of holiday!

we stayed in a gold apartment which was clean, spacious and right next to the gold carpark.
we stayed halfboard so ate in the yatch club which was nice and such alot of choice to eat.
every time you visit the yatch club the girl at the desk gave you some hand gel to kill any germs before you go in and get your food which is good to see.
staff were all pleasent and love the kids.
evening entertainment was good.
we would visit again.

Very apprehensive about going due to negative reports, however not as bad as I anticipated, we took sleeping bags as I was a bit wary about the condition of the matresses and bedding but wasn't as bad as I anticiapted. Chalets reminded me of an army barracks, not very pleasant to look at. The dining room was very much like a school canteen, although the food was surprisingly good, the staff (mainly Polish with very little command of the English language) were very polite and helpful, but it was all very rushed due to the short time the restaurant was open. The children loved the entertainment, but I was a little concerned about health and safety as so many people were crammed into the Chico Concert that in the event of a fire it would have been chaotic trying to evacuate the building. Disappointed by the amount and cost of the activities that had to be paid for, not good when your on a limited budget

My youngest son (1 yr) won a competition and part of the prize was a 4night break to Butlins in silver accommodation (self catering). Having never been to butlins, and this was a 'free' holiday, we paid to upgrade to deluxe DBB.

We arrived at the resort, got keys and found what looked to be the right accommodation - rather untended (rather than rundown) low buildings, with a bulk lot of double glazed porch things on the front.

Ok - so not too worried here, thought there was another entrance, this was the only one entrance to the accommodation - the porch thing. Which opened straight into what I loosely call a lounge.

Ours was right on the end - main walkway to pretty much everywhere, and everyone could see straight into the room.... and the smell! - like old cigerette smoke, really stale and made me feel claustrophobic (and I’m not).

This was supposed to be deluxe accommodation (full price would have been over £500 for 4 nights) and the room was tiny - they had squeezed 2 sofas in - with maybe 2' max between them to walk through to a TV & fridge squashed at the end, the twin room had just enough room for a bedside cabinet between beds, and the double room wasn’t much bigger - and we were supposed to fit a cot in somewhere!

The whole place looked tatty - like it was in bad need of some refurb, the carpet looked grubby too, and there was a cabinet which was listing to one side (not very safe). The wine & chocolates (had been informed they were ferrero rocher) turned out to be a cheap bottle, and a box of £1 fudge. All there was between the lounge and the whole of Butlins trouping past the full glass door porch thing, were some flimsy curtains - that also needed some tlc.

We tried to ask them to sort out the accommodation, and they would not back down at all - telling us everyone else was happy, there was nothing else the same level as ours, but they could offer us a lower accommodation - but no refund if we chose to 'downgrade', and there was no way we could get our money back if we left.... bear in mind - we were asking only for the £85 we paid to upgrade (upgrade being used in the loosest terms) and they said no.

So we had to leave, felt too vulnerable, the general security of the accommodation - I felt, was not very secure, and would have been worried to leave anything there, let alone stay in it! The state of it was disgusting, ad I would not have felt 'right' letting my children (3yr & 1yr) play in the accomodation - if they could even find the space!
As for the food, and entertainement - I have voted neutral, as we were not there long eough to asses it...

This was the first time we have visited Butlins.
We stayed there Monday-Friday and the whole holiday was excellent.

we stayed in the gold apartments, which we found were clean, a good size and were worth paying the extra for.

The food was very good as most of it was self-service so you could have as much as you liked and there was good choice for kids and adults.

The entertainment was first class. There is everything you need in the Skyline and the shows in Centre Stage were very good.

We stayed here last weekend. We booked a Silver Apartment.

Our accomodation was near the back of the resort in one of the 2 storey buildings, we were on the first floor (not the ones in rows, but similar to the 3 storey.)

We had 3 bedrooms, 1 was a double and 2 with 2 singles. The double I think had a wardrobe built in, 2 bedside cabinets and a mirror. The other 2 had hanging space and 2 shelves and 1 bedside cabinet with 2 draws. The electric point in the single bedded rooms were hidden behind the bedside cabinet. The beds were comfortable enough, with 1 pillow on each bed. (I took an extra one each for me and hubby) The duvets and bedding were clean. There wasn't a mirror in 2 of the bedrooms so my brother unscrewed the one in the hallway and we shared that one.

The bathroom consisted of a shower, which was quite small but useable, not sure if this is the case if your really tall. ( I'm 5 ft 8" and I think I was about 6 inches from roof)

The living room/ kitchen had a 3 seater and a 2 seater leather settee and a normal size tv. A table with 6 beech style chairs. An electric cooker, microwave and toaster. Cutlery and crockery for 6. There were pans but we didn't have a frying pan (it was listed on the list inside the cupboard) but I'm sure they'd give us one if we went to the reception to ask. There was a pack in the kitchen with a tea towel, tiny bottle of washing up liquid, a cloth and a scourer pad thingy. There was also a full size ironing board (no iron) and a small clothes horse.

To get into the rooms they now use credit card style keys. We were issued with 2 and I asked for another and got one no problem.

It was very, very busy there with lots of hen and stag parties. It was an adult weekend. There were some sights to be seen!! The entertainment was dance music and was ok if you like that music. The Venga boys were there Friday night and Cain Dingle (Emmerdale) did a DJ slot on Friday night as well.

I think the resort looks a lot better than it has in the past.

On the way home after a night out we passed lots of discarded bottle and cans and rubbish, but this was nowhere to be seen the next day, so the cleaning teams are working hard.

Even though we were situated at the back it's not really that far to the entertainment (the weather was dry all weekend so we were lucky) There is a small shop just behind where we were. It was also quite quiet there in the accomodation.

We ate in the Hairy Dog pub which is in the town. Menu was good but we were dissappointed with service. I had Carbonara which to me was way too creamy. Brother and sis-in-law had to wait ages for theirs but it was lovely. Our other friend didn't even get hers (they forgot!!) but her hubby had a lovely meal.

We never book anything less than silver, the standards are just that, bog standard!

We stayed in 2 silver plus bungalows, in each bungalow there were 3 bedrooms, 1 double which was a huge room with a large mirror, wardrobe and plenty of room, one twin room, and one bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed in.

The rooms were so damp we had a frog hopping around the living room. I had to clean the bathroom myself before I would let anyone use it, it was quite grimy. In the double bedroom there was a large damp batch on the ceiling in the corner.

The windows are not double glazed and rattle slightly with the wind.

The key cards only worked when they wanted to so we got caught out in the rain trying to unlock the doors.

Based on the previous reports we were not looking forward to going. We were pleasantly surprised. We paid for Gold accommodation and judging from the other comments I think this must have been a good move.

Accommodation was clean and roomy.

We were near all facilities but it wans't too noisy (except for the seagulls and I don't think you can blame Butlins for that). The other accommodation did look a bit prison campish.

The food was fantastic. Due to being Gold we ate in the Yacht club, you had the same table every day (which was good for our young sons)and the choice and quality was amazing for dinner and breakfast. I would definitely recommend anyone to upgrade to this as the other food halls didn't look anywhere near as nice.

We went to the beach a few times but didn't really like the look of the sea and things that were washed up but our boys loved playing in the sand. I did get a bit tired of the amusements in the skyline so we didn't spend a lot of time in there.

Our boys had their best holiday yet and we will definitely go back again, probably for 4 days rather than a week. We found the staff to be fine and if we had a problem they sorted it out quickly.

There is a lot of free entertainment but it was hard not to spend money as equally there was a lot that you had to pay for which was the only thing that we weren't happy about

Butlins should be totally ashamed of their standards of accomadation. We booked a Silver Room with two bedrooms and we expected some degree of comfort with it not being budget. Or so we thought. The rooms stink of damp and the 'furniture' is very old. The bedding felt damp to the touch too. We have had to wash the clothes that were not used as they came home smelling of damp after hanging in the wardrobes. Our bathroom had excrement smeared over the tiles by the toilet and the back of the bathroom door and the pokey little shower was covered in mould. Never again will we pay good money to stay at Butlins. However, the rest of the site is very clean and litter free with the gardens very well kept.

The food was ASDA cafe at best. You had to beg for more than one sausage at breakfast or more than one slice of beef/turkey/chicken at dinner. You do get soft drinks included in the half board option though which was a bonus.

Butlins Minhead is located right opposite Minehead beach, which is large and sandy. The water is very warm too. It would have been nice to have been able to have hired some chairs and winbreakers but there was no one there to hire them from.

The staff are all eastern european which I found very strange. They are very un-smiling and often get in your way. YOU have to move for them and in the restaurant, when you are trying to carry a couple of trays of food, that can be very annoying. Very little english is spoken by them. The Redcoats though are all British. Some tried very very hard to keep us entertained, but some felt they were only there to tell the kids off. "Don't sit there, Don't touch that, Don't do that..." is all we heard from some of them as they laid in to the kids. They need to understand that kids get exited and are not always doing things maliciously. My two were man-handled in the queue for a photo with a band called Pop Mania as they dared to go up for a second photo each afetr having a joint one taken the first time. I was not happy and told her so too!

One thing Butlins know how to do is keep you entertained. The evening shows were fantastic with performances from Brenda and Nicolas from the X-Factor, Shaun Williamson and Nicholas Bailey (Barry and Dr Trueman from Eastenders) and a great Pantomine from Joe Pasquale. We were all very happy with the entertainment. However, very little is free at Butlins anymore. They were even charging for a 5 minute jump on a bouncy castle and the Trampolines which I felt was a touch miserly! The pools are free though with some wicked flumes to ride.

All in all, having spent £1000 on a weeks half board, we feel a bit robbed espcially by the accomodation, and have vowed never to take a UK holiday again. It's Turkey for us next year!

We went to Butlins on a 4 night break.

It's 18 years since we last went there and it has changed completely - other than the accommodation which is still very basic, shabby and below standard.

There is supposed to be maid service who make the beds and empty the bins etc but the maid only made the bed once in the 4 days. Lights didn't work and there was only one tiny pillow on each bed, so we had to ask for more. TV had really bad picture.

Although we were upgraded at no cost to an apartment, the overall experience was pretty awful.

The Restaurant should be renamed the canteen, and the entertainment centre, (particularly centre stage) was sticky to the touch, that includes table tops the bar tops and the carpets. Some bleach and Mr Muscle needed urgently.

Alright for kids, and chip lovers, although the prices were very expensive, nothing free at Butlins anymore. A bottomless purse or wallet needed

What can I say, just come back from Butlins, and never had a worst experience.

Lets start with the cleanliness, the toilet had a spider squashed on the seat, the bath had live and dead insects(spiders, ants and flys)in it, the bed covers looked dirty, the pillows had some dark black stuff over them.

The food(if thats what you can call it), gave 3 out of 4 of us food poisoning, and it pretty hard to tell what food it was, i did have to ask on the first night.

When we got back after the dinner, outside our apartment, we had a bin back ripped outside, to which it took over 12 hours, to be moved, and when it was the soiled nappies where left outside our room for a good 4 or 5 hours longer.
on the plus point(the only one), the pool was really good.

All in all, I will not be going to butlins, and prtty sure I can say that to the other 3 in our party.

I went down to Minhead to run workshops for a conference, so technically speaking I wasn't a guest.

I've been working at the different Butlins venues for more than 10 years now, and IMO Butlins has improved immeasurably.

Most of the chalets are now very clean and comfortable and more than adequately equipped.

Entertainment is great the redcoats are really talented and Butlins often have famous people there to take away an extra special memory of the holiday.

The staff are really friendly, they are never sad they are always smiling and I would definietly return. I highly recommend to everyone.

We stayed in a deluxe apartment which was lovely. It had two bedrooms, 1 with a double bed, but the room was big enough to put another 2 beds in, and the other room had 2 single beds, again another big bedroom.

The double room had a portable telly and a safe in it and in the lounge was a 3 piece suite, telly, video player and dvd player.

We had a good sized bathroom with both a shower and a bath. There was no kitchen but we had a fridge, ironing board and iron and tea and coffee making facilities, which was fine as we were half board.

The room was spotless and if you had a problem then there are always security and staff walking about, so we just went and spoke to them and the problem was fixed straight away. We found the food to be excellent.

The breakfast's were full english breakfasts, cereal, fruit, toast and jam, fruit juice, tea and coffee. The evening meals were varied with lots to choose from. Proper 3 courses if you wanted to. Always piping hot and plenty of it.We found the staff to be friendly enough.

The entertainment was good lasting to 2am. We went on an adult only weekend, so there was no kids about atall. There were several bands playing when we were there, the bars are always very busy and can get abit overcrowded.

There are lots of other things going on during the day and night. The funfair, swimming pool with water shoots, crazy golf, bingo, amusement arcades and much more. A short walk takes you down to the baech or up into the town centre. We love it here and have been lots of times with and without the kids.

A good place for a hen or stag weekend, birthdays or just a family break, but be warned you can end up spending lots and lots of money. It's cheaper to go abroad! But it's still great and a good laugh.

This place has got to be the holiday from hell. We booked a silver apartment on a half board basis. (Breakfast and evening meal)

On arrival the toilet didn't flush, had to repair it myself. The shower was full of damp and smelt very musky. The accommodation was basic and the furniture was the most uncomfortable ever.

The pictures of the accommodation in the brochures and on the website bore no resemblance to what we were provided with. At 02.45am on the first morning after arrival we had endured the family above us moving furniture around for an hour and their children constantly running around and screaming.

On attempting to make a complaint I was initially greeted by an eastern European rep, who basically could not speak English, I was then directed to the reception where the complaint was nothing more than recorded.

They would not move us, saying there was no alternative accommodation available. The noise continued on the subsequent nights.

The food provided in the restaurant was mostly cold and of poor quality. There were what looked like thousands of people all wanting to be fed at the same time, complete chaos. More like feeding time at a local zoo.

Don't be deceived into thinking everything is included in your booking price. Only the swimming pool (with a 30p charge for the use of a locker),the entertainment and some parts of the fun fair were free.

Everything, drinks, food, gifts and souvenirs were about 30% more expensive than normal.

On the positive side the the Sun and Moon pub and the Irish bar are nice places to visit apart from the prices.

Would we return...err No.

Stayed in a silver apartment for a three night break.

Apartment was clean and quite modern, the kitchen was very small and the rooms felt slightly damp if you didnt leave the heating on low.

Used the new key care system to get in and out of the apartment, prefer this to the keys.

The restaurants and cafes were fairly priced, as was the supermarket on site.

All the staff except the redcoats seemed european, especially in the restaurants.

Minehead itself is well worth a look, lots of shops and cafes, we also went on the steam train that departs from there.

My nephew especially liked "bobs yard" in the resort, got his photo taken with bob the builder and was able to purchase it for £4.

The only two things that annoyed us was 1) the noise around midnight when people are running up and down the metal stairs to the apartments, and secondly the way that kids were using the metal luggage trolleys as go karts!! we made both these comments on the holiday questionnaire before we left.

Minehead butlins was certainly better than the one at skegness

We booked a caravan at Butlins Minehead. I didn't even realise they had caravans there until I typed Butlins Minehead in Google.

We had a bargain the caravan was half the Butlins price for a week in August.

The caravan itself was lovely, peaceful and with a picnic area and patio table. It was spotless inside we just had to take our own bedding.

I cannot recommend the caravan over a chalet high enough.

We paid extra to stay in a Silver Bungalow for 7 nights. This was our 3rd visit to Butlins in 3 years and is going to be our last. The allocated accomodation was shabby and dreary looking and was in need of a complete refurbishment. We asked to be moved but were told the resort was full no other apartments were available.

On return to the bungalow one afternoon, the place was crawling with ants and flying insects which had got through a hole in the wall behind the sofa. An employee came and sprayed the affected area and left a few ant traps/repellents which seemed to work.

But worse was to come. One night at 11.30am while watching TV in the lounge area, we spotted a small mouse scurrying around the bungalow and going into the room where our children were sleeping. We called Butlins Security who immediately arranged to move us to another bungalow. From their reaction it was apparent that such incidents had happened before in these bugalows. We complained and were offered a £100 voucher towards the next holiday there. Further representations led them to increase to voucher to £300 which I refused. Since then Butlins have not responded to further letters from us.

Our kids (aged 6 and 5) liked the kids play areas and the facilities, but who would want to take their kids to a place were mice run around their living space.

After waiting for 3hours we were allocated our room, which was diabolical and nothing like the pictures advertised in their brochure or on their web site. The floor was dirty, used tissues were by the bed, damp on the walls in both the bedroom and bathroom, which had been painted over and the paint was blistered and coming off the walls and mildew on the window frames and in the shower area & no light in the shower.

We were eventually offered a different room with a bath instead of a shower, only for this room to have a severe damp problem, as well as a broken picture which hung directly above the bed with shards of glass exposed.

Also the accommodation was very difficult to locate and quite some distance from the main area.

We decided to stay in the silver bungalows plus, wide screen TV, DVD player, microwave and other things you want in a home from home.

The chalet was cleaned to a high standard even if you seen a cleaner go past ya chalet if you asked them if you could use their hover to clean sum things up they would offer to do it for you. Fabulous.

The location is great. We were supposed to stay for a week but because of the lovely weather we booked for another week, plus a tip. If you extend your holiday when you are on resort you get at least 50 percent off brochure price.

The beach is safe and clean, the shops bars and restaurants in Minehead are great especially the three dogs I think. The best thing for us about butlins is the entertainment. It caters for young and old alike. My kids are 3 4 n 16 but all of them have a great time. The youngsters love the first part of the night with Billy Bear then after that its adult show time.

I must say that the shows the reps put on are amazing, its just like being in London's west end, the reds are talented and hardworking and always have time for you. The staff over all are friendly, however a lot are foreigners who's English is very poo but with some simple hand gestures and a lot of pointing you get your point across.

Butlins is a great traditional British family holiday and we go about 3 times a yr. It is constantly improving, and upgrading. You are sure to have as good as a time as me and my family did. Happy holidays!!!!!

I stayed here half board last June. The chalets are filthy, the interconnecting doors are paper thin so you can hear everything going on next door. Unfortunate, if like me you were put next to drug taking , highly sexed teenagers. The food was awful, cheap, full of cholesterol, and likely to give you serious health problems. However most people who go here are complete chavs so would be quite at home, a bit like a council estate really, including teenagers and kids completely out of control, with no consideration for anyone else. Staff are rude and so used to complaints they very rarely take you seriously.A word about the cleaning, there isn't any. I had a brown stain on my duvet, together with someone elses body odour. Avoid this place at all costs, and go up market.

Went self catering to silver plus accommodation. The chalet had microwave, cooker, fridge etc as well as widescreen t.v.
It was roomy but a bit out of date.

The staff were so friendly, everytime we bought a drink in the bar, or newspaper at the shop the staff asked if we were enjoying our holiday.

The shows were very good. as we went just before christmas we had panto shows and xmas themed shows. Exceleent!!

The only negative is the fact that the place looks a bit shabby and in need of a lick of paint.
We went for 3 days which is just enough. any more and you may be bored.

It took quite a while to be shown to our accommodation on arrival, but I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room.

My friend and I had booked a twin room in standard Silver accommodation, however we were given an adjoining double room and twin room meaning we had 2 TV's and 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms between us. Presumably because the resort wasn't full.

It wasn't cleaned well though, and the towels were not changed once and the shower room was a hazard waiting to happen.

The food was utterly revolting. I'm a vegetarian and the food options were slim. My meat eating friend fared no better. I wish I'd gone self catering really. I ended up eating chips and salad, though even their chips tasted odd!

And the food and drinks were fairly pricey elsewhere.

Staff looked really quite unhappy, I felt sorry for them.

It was a bit boring really and not much to do. It was not quite what the brochure made out, and I would see no reason to return.

The room allocated to us was number 104, Block F, Fisherman’s Way in Ocean Point. It was dirty. The carpet was stained. The whole room smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke, damp and artificial air freshener. The bed had a mattress covered in some sort of plastic-coating (presumably to protect it against incontinence) and was so flimsy that we could not have slept comfortably on it. Staying in such poor conditions was out of the question so we immediately rejected the accommodation and asked for a refund but our request was refused.

After writing several letters asking for a refund of our costs, which Butlins always refused, we sued them in the small claims court. Our determination, persistence and refusal to be intimidated by this large corporation eventually got us our refund.

We stayed in Deluxe Half Board accommodation the apartment was of a high standard comprising of: - Lounge with 2 sofas 28" TV DVD & video also had 2 cabinets hiding fridge and ironing board/iron. One double bedroom - bed had canopy over very nice also second TV, and safe in wardrobe. Two twinned rooms all three bedrooms very comfy and well decorated. Nice bathroom with shower/bath. As it was a deluxe room there was also a bottle of wine /box of chocolates waiting in the lounge for us, along with a personal parking space outside the room. Patio doors lead from the lounge into a small enclosed patio - will be good in summer.

The food was good also.

We hired a caravan at Butlins for our holiday we loved it so much more than Butlins own accomodation that we bought one in the September after our holiday, I also rent it out for others to enjoy their holiday.

Location at the rear end of the camp, away from any noise but only 5 minutes walk to all the fun facilities.

Good value, caravan excellent.

I now go every month for a weekend and spend as much time there as possible.

The room was absolutely filthy, with a small dirty dank shower......that we just could not use, it was diabolical (this is the only printable word I can use!)

Never never again will I go to Butlins.

We complained and got nowhere! Typical British attitude.
