The hotel itself was nice. The food wasn't good it all tasted the same. Entertainment was ok when it was in English.

The Costa Caribe was an outstanding Hotel and provided the basis for an outstanding hotel. The levels of cleanliness were excellent, our room was cleaned every morning and we were provided with a fridge full of drinks and water and fresh towels.

The four different restaurants were delightful, the main one which was self service always had a massive range of foods, at breakfast chefs would freshly make omelettes and pancakes to order. The italian, mexican and dominican a la carte restaurants were just simply fantastic, the service, atmosphere and food were second to none!

The staff really struck us and brilliant people, they never hassled us but at the same time they could not do enough for us, they always had a smile on their faces and there were a few people that we really got to know well, Santos who worked at the sports bar and Franklin our tour guide for a few days out were great people who we still keep in touch with now!

The entertainment was always delightfully original, vibrant, colourful and everyone, regardless of age or where they came from joined in. We have photos of me on stage topless dancing in front of about 150 people so it must have been fun.

The private beach was beautiful, we did snorkelling and a 75ft scuba dive for free! Windsurfing, kayaking and the five different pools in the hotel were all well looked after and just perfect.

I am 21 and Charlotte is 18 but we met other couples there that were our parents age and they enjoyed it as much as us! There was never a time when we had nothing to do, and if there was it was the perfect place to just relax in the sunshine drinking cocktails.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone, is also very family friendly which is a bonus!

If we get the chance to go to the Dominican again we will definitely be staying at the Hotel Costa Caribe, and at £500pp for 14 nights all inclusive - WOW!

We stayed at this hotel in September 2001 and was our first visit to the caribbean. We're a young couple (28 and 30) and would probably say this hotel was more suited to an older age group.

On arrival we were pleased with the overall look of the place, staff were always cleaning and very helpful. The room was a fair size you'd expect but not huge and most rooms had sea view with air con and full bathroom. We had two large beds and balcony overlooking the main pool area.

The food was good in the buffet section and we used the mexican a la carte and another a la carte (cant remember the name). You could get snacks down by the watersports section til about 2 or 3am but this was only things like pizza, chips and burgers.

The negatives are that the beach was not natural white sand as we expected but man made and the evening entertainment is not great for our age group.Even the disco only managed to have about 10 people in it and you had to pay for the drinks in there. WHY??? its only through some doors to the all inclusive bar. Strange?
