These apartments are quite basic but in an excellent location...only few minutes walk from beach.

Roof top pool is excellent.there are plenty of lovely restaurants a few minutes walk from the apartments.we stayed in an apartment with country views and thought it was beautiful.

There is a lot of traffic but it did not keep us awake at all. We couldnt complain at all and will definatly return.

As for the comment comparing the complex to something in a third world country that is totally ridiculous and whoever posted it has obviously never been to a third world country, and is somewhat ignorant to the conditions in which these people are forced to live in.

Luna apartments ...more like loony apartments !

The hotel was dirty and the resort was painstakingly boring!

There is nothing to do apart from watch Johnny the gopon singing every night.

The entertainment is on a 1 week rota and so you have to listen to them twice if you are on a week stay so on and so forth.

We booked a studio apartment for 1 week at the end of Sept through E-bookers. As we got a good deal on the price we weren't expecting much, a basic room which is exactly what we got - the sofa was ripped and falling to pieces, the bathroom was grubby with the tiles & grout coming off and the beds were soft and lumpy. We could cope with this because you generally get what you pay for.

However the room was uncomfortably hot because it was next to the service shafts and the fridge was so old and inefficient that it actually heated the room up! We were also on the 2nd floor overlooking a busy road so it was very noisy, especially as we had to leave the balcony door open to try and cool the room down. There are better rooms with air conditioning and a sea view but we've no idea what they're like and are probably worth paying extra for if you did desperately want to stay at the Luna.

There are much better hotels to choose from in Mellieha for a similar price (e.g. the Pergola Hotel or Riviera Hotel where we stayed for the 2nd week). It is definitely worth paying a little more for a 4* hotel (bearing in mind that Malta overrates their hotels by at least a * compared to the UK)

The Luna buffet breakfast lacked choice and wasn't very nice. The bread was slightly stale, the fried eggs (if you were lucky enough to get one) were cold and I found a scourer wire in mine! The staff weren't very helpful either, especially when we wanted to book a trip and the receptionist informed us that she couldn't dial out on her phone and said that we needed to call from our room (obviously wanting to charge us for this!)

To top it off the manager tried to charge us for breakfast when we'd already paid for it when we booked the holiday. He was distinctly unhelpful and insisted that we pay even though we showed him our booking details which clearly stated that breakfast was included. He then tried to deny knowledge of Ebookers and said that it was their fault. Obviously a mistake had been made somewhere but you'd think that a decent hotel would have honoured our booking and not made such a fuss about it. We even showed them the website which was still advertising the room with breakfast included. After this long unecessary argument he eventually was more reasonable and said that we didn't have to pay again.

Only good points about the Luna was the proximity to the beach (about 10 mins walk), the rooftop pool and a convenient mini-market on site.

ONE TO AVOID!

We booked on self catering basis so I cannot comment on the full facilities at the hotel. As far as we were concerned the accommodation was excellent. We had 2 rooms for the 4 of us and we relieved they were directly opposite as our children had not had their own room before. Theirs was on the pool side and ours was on the roadside. Theirs was much quieter than ours as we had the passing traffic which we did not notice after the first night. Both rooms had ceiling fans which were badly needed as the temperatures were very high both day and night. The kitchen facilites were fine for what we needed (breakfast and snacks). The room was only cleaned once during our stay and we were only left one towel per person after the clean. It could have done with being twice during the week and 2 towels each as had been left for our arrival.
The evening entertainment was not to our taste at all and seating area was limited in the outside bar as the staff seemed intent on clearing away the chairs and tables as and when they were vacated by the diners leaving nowhere for anyone just wanting a drink to sit, so we didn't bother with it after the 2nd night. The entertainment was very loud but fortunately for our daughters finished on the dot of eleven every night so they could get some sleep.
There is a well stocked supermarket on site which seemed very busy whenever we went in. Parking outside for our rental car was ok but bit of a struggle at the weekend when we had to go searching around for space. Note of caution to park only in the direction of the traffic.Don't park the wrong way on the road, you will soon end up with a ticket!

were cleaned every other day, along with a change of towels & bed linen.
The reception area & pool area's were spotless & well looked after; & there were always sunbed's available. (There were still some selfish people 'reserving' sunbed's with towels, although one day I saw a stack of towels behind reception, so they must have been taken off).
The food was not that good, & after having two meals in the hotel we ate out for the rest of time. Try the Latino restaurant at the Tunny Net Complex, approx 100 metre's down the road, a meal for 4 was approx £30, or for a more upmarket, & excellent, meal visit the Bouquet Garni restaurant in Mellieha, this is a 15-20 minute walk up a fairly steep hill, but for the unfit/lazy you can catch a bus from near the hotel, into Mellieha, a meal for 4 here cost £60 but was worth the extra as a one-off.
The entertainment at the hotel was karaoke & singers singing 'YMCA' & 'Aga Do' etc, fine if thats your thing, but for a more relaxing night a visit to the 'lounge bar' at the Tunny Net complex sitting on wicker setee's overlooking the bay was far more to our liking.

We stayed in the luna apartments for the 3rd time running on our visit, we find it increasingly difficult to find any problems with this hotel as it only improves year on year.

The cleanliness of this hotel has never been in question it has always been imaculate, when we dinned in the hotel the food was tramendous, the hotels location is also great you can either go to the beach 5-10min short walk or you can climb the hill to the village of Mellieha but be warned this is a tuff walk but when you get to the top it has it rewards with spectacular veiws of Mellieha bay & you can also visit the chaple which is amazing.

We have always found the hotel staff to be very friendly & helpfull, the entertainment is not the best, however that said i still had many enjoyable nights in the hotel with their karaoke & live entertainment, we will have no hesitation in returning to this hotel next year.

On our arrival we found our apartment....out of the back of the hotel, past the rubbish skips in an annexe block. We had to go up 6 flights of stairs..no lift.

Apartment itself was clean but very, very basic. Only 2 desk fans to cool the place....as the temp reached 38c (in the shade) not adequate. We asked to change rooms which we did on the 2nd day. Manager was great, we upgraded to two superior air conditioned rooms at no extra charge! These were very nice rooms, one overlooked the land side, the other we could just see the sea over the rooftops of the houses.

Maid service as supposed to be twice a week, but we only saw her once, and then we realised that the towels neatly folded on the bed were the ones we had put on the balcony to dry......not clean ones!!

Bathroom had a bath with a shower over, clean and serviceable, although be advised use bottled water for cleaning teeth etc, the water used is de- salinated and tastes foul....although we were told it was safe to drink....must be an acquired taste!!!

We upgraded to half board, food was ok, breakfast the same every morning, evening meal was fine, all food cooked well.

Pools were great esp rooftop pool, only problem was people 'bagging' loungers then disappearing off....but that happens everywhere, roof pool gets the sun all day be warned, I took factor 25 but had to buy factor 40 as sun was so strong!

Staff were great, no problems with reception, although for a hotel updated in 2004 it would be good to have air con in reception!

General Advice - Make sure you have a room with air conditioning, you need it!!

Arrived at apartment late so couldnt get food and no shops were open so we managed to find a pizza place and brought them back to hotel.

First thoughts on rooms were basic with small balcony. we overlooked the sea which was nice.

Only a dining table with chairs in lounge so nothing comfy to relax on-and you could just fit 2 chairs on balcony - food was edible but like everything else quite expensive. Shower was dirty but worked fine-it blocked up after a few days but problem was sorted within the hour.

The staff were ok but nothing special.

Entertainment was for older folks either kareoke or country singers so nothing for kids.

Rooftop pool was fab but we all burnt it was so hot. Nothing much around area just a few bars -restaurants and 2 gift shops but we preferred this to the usual in your face stuff.

We stayed in this complex for 1 week in July, the problems being that all rooms advertised on the hotel website as having sea or country views, our first room was overlooking the road and a barren landscape it had a celing fan which only circulated the hot air, we requested an upgrade to an airconditioned room, which was not a problem, apart from our balcony looked directedly into other apartments about 10feet away so much for a sea view!

The internet facility was on a pre-pay basis which was virtually impossible to get on to as the children would just hold the seats for each other, the reception staff in the eveing were unable to help with any problems that arose and we were always told to come back in the morning, if you had a problem at the weekend you were told to come back on monday, check out time was 11am we requested to keep the room for 4 hours and were told it would cost £16.00.

Cooking facilities in room are very poor as it took 15mins to toast 1 piece of bread, shop and hotel prices very dear as is all over malta for everyday items, all trips from hotel and hotel and travel company very expensive eg scilly 1 day tour £160.00 for two adults, would not return to this hotel, hotel entertainment very dated .

We had a great holiday here, it is in a good location, near beach and restaurants.

The buses take you all over the island from here for a few euros, very good, and a little scary at times. The hotel was basic and clean.

Small balcony with a sea view (If you sort of hung over the side and looked left?) However we had booked B&B but on our arrival we were informed that the booking was only for room and self catering and we would have to pay for breakfast each day and claim from the company that we had booked with to get our money back.

This was despite showing the manager our booking form clearly stating Breakfast included. In the end we made our own (the breakfast was not very good) and got a refund from eBookers for £35. Room was small and hot, fridge was a god-send. Evening "special" meals and entertainment was booked the day before and was okay, but a little naff.

You get what you pay for and on the whole I didn't think this bad for the money.

Just returned from a great autumn break at a great place for adults - not too great for kids as there are not many things to keep younger ones entertained in the area.

We had a roadside apartment with great views up to the church, over a fascinating rural landscape. Road noise did not trouble us too much, although early morning could be a pain in summer I would guess.

The reception area looks like something from a 5 star place and not a 3 star as the Luna is categorised, and reception staff equalled this.

The on-site restaurant provides good value for money, as do the bars. If staying self catering the shop is incredibly cheap and well-stocked and the staff are v.friendly also.

We spent 2 weeks in Luna Park in August, the conditions were like 3rd world in the 2 bed block at back of the hotel (facing the sea).

The apartment was filthy on arrival, torn and dirty bedding, the fridge was not working and only 1 ring on the cooker, we could not even make toast.

The entertainment was a joke, especially when the staff would clear away tables and chairs during singing or whatever was on.
Reception staff were very friendly but bar staff, and roof pool staff were not.

This hotel is spotless well impressed even the 2 swimming pools are so clean and well kept. Food is good as well although we were self catering we ate a few times in the resturant with no complaints.

The hotel is a very short distance from the beach which is fab ideal for small children. The hotel staff were very friendly and reception staff were great 24hrs a day.The enterainment was ok a karaoke once a week, singers 2 times a week and it rained once they put a film on indoors in the evening.

I would return to the Luna but i would most definatly change my room we were put on the main road with country views, every morning at 6 there were heavy lorries passing it was so hot we had to have balcony door open.

We asked 3 times to be moved to another room but were ignored this i found to be the main fault.

If we return I would pay extra money and book an upgraded room with air conditioning and make sure its higher up with a sea view then it would be perfect.

Fully agree with all the comments about this complex. We booked a Superior Studio (air-conditioning, satellite TV etc), well worth doing if you are a couple.

This was our first visit to Malta and we shall certainly be going back.

The only possible drawback is the fact that all the apartments on the "land-view" side overlook a quite busy (at times) road. Without air-conditioning I suspect balcony doors would have to be left open at night, leading to some loss of sleep?

Other than this this complex is very highly recommended.

Had a fantastic time at the luna the staff were very helpful nothing too much trouble, clean very safe for the children.

The pools were clean and the roof top pool was brilliant, a sun worshipers paradise as it gets the sun all day, they have everthing you might need at hand, including a well stocked mini market and internet access. Would go again.

We went to the Luna last July with our 3 kids.

We were unsure about going incase it was not up to much but it was more than we expected the kids loved it( two teenagers).

It was lovely and clean all the maltesse people really friendly and helpful. Touts are a pest we did get roped into going but didnt take them on. Only wasted about two hours of our day but will know better this year.

Beach just down road from Luna buses great and cheap so is food and drink are going back this year.

My family and I thought that the Luna complex was excellent.

The room was basic but clean, but how much time do you spend in a room, with all the beautiful surroundings for you to see.

We ate most nights at a small restaurant just around the corner.

Would happily revisit Malta again anytime!

My wife and I have been to Malta 3 times and each time we have stayed in the Luna holiday complex.

We would not stay anywhere else, the place is spotless the staff are very friendly and a lot of them we have got to know over the years.

The food is also excellent.

We have stayed at the front of the hotel and at the back and we found neither one excessively noisy.

An all round great holiday can not wait to return.

The Luna Complex is the best self catering holiday I have ever had in Malta. The place is absolutely spotless, didn’t see a single cockroach.

Apartment was large and roomy, shower was big enough for two!

We mainly went down to the restaurant for Breakfast as it was such good value for money, we had our dinner there too on every other evening, it was excellent, the staff made us all feel special. We liked to visit other local restaurants in the evenings too.

The beach is very close by and you can buy sandwiches and fruit on the beach which saves you going off the beach for lunch.

We had entertainment every evening, it was great.

Our sunlit balcony overlooked the main road, but it was a wonderful view as it looked over the inland countryside, we looked up towards the Church on the hill which when lit in the evening was a gorgeous sight, sort of romantic too.

We have been back and wouldn't stay anywhere else now! We have been holidaying all over the island and Gozo for the last 16 years, twice a year. We'll be back!!!
