This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and the standards are extremely high and remain so. The hotel is very clean and the rooms clean and spacious. The food and restaurant are absolutely fanastic and in our view cannot be faulted. The staff especially in the dining room are extremely friendly and efficient.
The hotel is situated directly onto the beach and although you have to pay for sunbeds on the beach the pool area gets very hot whereas the beach provides a fabulous breeze.
Our only complaint is that if you don not wish to watch the entertainment you cannot get served by the bar waiters and have to go to the bar which is poor for a 4* hotel.
The resort is very quiet and extremely relaxing although the busy resort of Paguerra and the very pretty harbour at Port Andratx are only short taxi rides away.
Will definately be going back for a fourth visit

This was our second time at the Gold Hotel (we are trying as many Gold Adult only as poss!) We returned because I was disabled and knew from last year that we could manage with the dining room, bar, pool, access to street and beach and patio with all day and evning entertainment ALL on one level which we could access by the lift so no stairs at all which are very difficult.
Requested, and was given, a room near the lift overlooking the pool and therefore the sea - absolutely perfect. Have had bigger rooms but nothing wrong with it and the view makes up for everything. Particularly liked the lounger chairs on balcony.
We go Gold beccause we like to join in the daily games, quizzes, get to know the entertainment and bar staff and also the other like-minded guests. The 2 girls last year were great and this year the two new ones were just as good - could remember every guests name after only being told once. Even the couple who were the eveing duo would come and chat if you bothered to speadk to them. If you dont like to join in like that then maybe Thomson Gold is not the best place, but its what we go for, and Camp de Mar was one of the best for that side of the holiday. We also hate visiting Irish pubs etc at night and like to be outside on the patio - the entertainment is not the West End but its fine similar to Warners hotels in Britain etc. In August we stayed outside most nights, but they do have a lovely underground 'nightclub' venue as well once the weathers not so good.
The food is as good as you can expect from serve yourself, multi choice buffet, anyone who says they can not find anything to eat must have very strange eating habits. Choice of salds, roast joints, fish and meats cooked in front of you, pasta and at least 20 desserts each night. We thought the service clearing plates etc had improved this year - the management are very much in evidence every day keeping their staff on their toes. Staff are very busy and therefore sometimes a bit flustered but are extremely friendly to you if you are friendly to them, the waiters join in the singing and dancing at night if you encourage them.

Just returned from a week at the Hotel Playa Camp de Mar (May 07). Our first visit to this hotel, chosen because of the fantastic reviews it has received on the internet. Needless to say we were not disappointed! It was the most peaceful and relaxing holiday we have ever had, and although I do not need to add how beautiful the location is, the view from the big glass windows in reception really is fantastic – what a wonderful welcome upon arrival!

This was our first time at a Thomson Gold hotel, and will definitely not be the last … wish we had gone Gold years ago, as the child-free holiday made the whole experience less stressful, more civilised and peaceful, not to mention that the hotel is entirely made up of English guests.

Upon arrival at Palma airport, we were directed to a mini-bus along with two other couples and we were off immediately to the hotel (no sitting on the coach for ages, as is usually the case). As we went directly to the hotel, the transfer was only approx 30 mins.

The Hotel Manager appeared on a regular basis including his cocktail party, where he introduced key members of staff. On our last night we were invited to his farewell party, where, once again, the champagne was free-flowing! He really does seem to try so hard to please everyone and has a good sense of humour.

The resident English band, “Reaction” were good. On our last night we were amazed to find Syd Little (of Little & Large fame) was the star act. This was the first time we have been to a hotel abroad and actually seen someone famous on the bill, so we were really impressed. Two other good evenings were “Elvis and the Teddy Bears” and the “Blues Brothers”, both of which were acts brought in from outside the hotel. We didn’t go to the evening entertainment every night – it depended what was on.

The evening entertainment took place in a large room down a spiral staircase underneath the pool area which was completely non-smoking. The main bar in the hotel had both smoking and non-smoking areas. I am not sure whether the evening entertainment is always indoors as this was obviously not the height of the season.

One thing to note is that the pool is now heated (having read in previous reviews that the pool was not heated, so I suspect they took on board guests comments in this respect).

In addition to the usual excursions offered by Thomson, at this hotel they also laid on a few extra activities with the help of a Canadian lady who lives in Majorca. She led us on a free walk to Peguera, a nearby resort approx 30 mins walk away, and once there you could either do your own thing or stay with her for a coffee and walk back.

Peguera is predominantly German, but has lots of shops etc and a large beach, so makes up for the lack of shops in Camp de Mar. (May be worth wearing trainers or shoes with good grip for the walk as it is a little hilly and the path is unmade.) Before we arrived, we had already decided we wanted to go on the “Western Encounter” excursion as we were keen to visit Soller and ride on the wooden train, so we were very disappointed to learn at the welcome meeting that the trip was already fully booked. Therefore, we booked a similar trip through the hotel reception, which was cheaper but no doubt different as I don’t believe the Thomson trip included the boat as well as the train. We thoroughly enjoyed it but maybe some people would find 11 and a quarter hours a long time (as there was over 1.5 hrs of pick-ups along the way, us being the first pick-up). However, we didn’t mind as we were quite happy to sit on a coach and be driven around the different resorts on the way. I am sure the Thomson trip would have had far less pick-ups.

We went on the “Taste of Palma” trip with Thomson and I believe we only did one other pick-up and it was all adults on the coach. For this trip we had a lovely local guide from Palma, who took us inside the beautiful cathedral, then we had approx 2 hrs to look round the shops/city (we stopped at two other places to take photos on the journey to Palma). The evening trip to “Son Amar” was very good. Beware though if the rep says you get a bottle of wine per person, as this was not the case. We were only given a bottle of wine between two (and a glass or two of champagne) and got nowhere when asking the waiters for another bottle, even though we had all been assured it was a bottle each (a minor detail, but it’s the principle of the thing).

So to sum up, a really great holiday and we would not hesitate to go again. We shall also be looking to see what other Thomson Gold hotels are in the brochures!

Well, if this was a true example of Thomson Gold, I don’t think I’ll bother again thanks!

Yes, the hotel was ‘nice’, the staff were certainly very pleasant, hard-working and helpful… but !!!

The mattresses were rock solid, the rooms had no soundproofing – we were kept awake by people just TALKING next door, if they dared open their patio doors it sounded like a thunderstorm!

The meals were mediocre. Two reasonably good nights – the ‘Majorcan’ and the ‘Gala’, I think they were called. Otherwise it was stewed chicken, stewed beef or stewed pork in one form or another. And yes, all with chips ! Puddings along the line of tapioca, blancmange, bread and butter pudding, blancmange, jelly, blancmange, etc., etc., It was like living in an old age pensioners’ home !

We were told we could use room cards to charge our wine, drinks etc., on, yet there seemed a certain reluctance by staff to go along with this. Despite putting our room card on the table several times we still got given a bill. Possibly something to do with the fact they were unlikely to get a tip the room card way?

Entertainment? Well the reps certainly worked their socks off, particularly Kirsty who deserves a medal for her aqua-aerobics! She was BORN to be a holiday rep! As for the daytime ‘games’. Errrrr, toss the beanbag? Craig – supposedly lead rep – upset a number of people with duff info. In our case, he told my husband a trip was 45 euros, but when he went to pay it was 63 euros, and when questioned about the itinerary of the day it became apparent he had absolutely no idea what it was. Fortunately, in my husband’s case, the trip turned out far better than his description of it ! When we complained about the hard bed, he just laughed !

The ‘resident duo’ singers seemed interested in entertaining each other, but nobody else. They spent more time talking to each other than singing !!

Room cleaning – hmmmmmmm, basic to say the least. The floor wasn’t swept during the entire week we were there. There was a large smear on our mirror the first day; it remained there the whole week. My husband accidentally cut himself shaving and got blood on the towel. He put it in the bath to be replaced, but when we came back later, it had been replaced on the towel rail !! To be fair the rest of the hotel was clean and the pool and poolside were kept immaculate.

Possibly the best part, if only for amusement value, was the problem with the pool. Some kind of problem with the chlorine I believe. I got off lightly as only my bikini turned green, lots of others had their HAIR turn green !! Police and fire officers were seen there one night, allegedly called by the hotel, but things didn’t improve.

We have both stayed in a number of hotels with work, I’m afraid this didn’t even come up to 3 star to be honest.

Our holiday in September 06 was magnificent. The setting was absolutely breathtaking + beautiful.

We were fortunate to have a lovely room on the 3rd floor with panoramic views of the bay and surrounding area of the golf courses and villas, plus the pool area and terrace.

The welcome we had off the staff was very good and efficient. Our luggage was swiftly brought up to our room. There was everything in our room to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The different areas in the hotel were kept exceptionally clean with marble floors and staircases with additional lifts found conveniently on each floor. There was plenty of seating areas in and around the reception area plus the two areas outside the main restaurant and bars.

We were blown away at the welcome party by the Thomson Gold team and the hotel managers especially 'San Juan' and his team. The way everything was conducted was excellent.

Food to die for, choice unbelievable at both breakfast and dinner. Champagne coming out of our ears it was lovely the Fiesta day was amazing and the effort that everyone put in was certainly fit for a royal feast plus the dancing at the flamenco show, the fireworks display and subsequent shows that also followed.

The Thomson Gold reps certainly worked very hard I can see why they never want to leave this gorgeous place. The taxi rank outside was very handy for visiting other places in and around that part of the island and very reasonable too.

We have been to Majorca many times before but when we have returned home the constant conversation of our holiday every night keeps cropping up again. We have lots of lovely memories to cherish, we met loads of people who had returned again year after year and we shall probably do the same again we enjoyed it so much we just never wanted it to end. Everyone at home who we know have been told about this holiday and you can see why it has been awarded numerous gold medals.

The resort is beautiful and select it does not have a lot to do at night but that doesn't matter because all the first class entertainment is at the hotel.

Well, I must finish now but we enjoyed the lovely truffle chocolates that was left in our room with the farewell letter before we left for home.

We shall never forget September 06, it was unbelievable/fantastic/magic/memorable/excellent, hasta la vista everyone, you were great.

I have visited this hotel on numerous occasions, the cleanliness of the hotel is 1st class! Clean linen everyday and fresh towels alternate days. All the rooms had full working air conditioning which was also very good after a hot day!

The food you could not complain about whatsoever, as there was always a choice for everyone. The meals were varied and always hot. The desserts were to die for! but did need a bigger variation.

I have found the staff very helpful and happy at all times, even the management. If you had a complaint it was dealt with immediately, if you needed medical help a doctor was on the site within 15 minutes. The management were always present and available to speak with you for anything.

I will definately be returning next year - so watch out!!

This was my first trip to Majorca. The hotel is very clean and although there is an early morning rush for sunbeds at 8.30am we never had a problem finding one when we arrived at a more civilised time.

The choice at breakfast is very good with fried eggs and omelettes freshly prepared on demand. The coffee was excellent.
The evening meal was very good also with at least two or three choices in the show cooking area plus severalo other choices as well. The fact that there are no children makes the dining room quite civilised and the buffet is refreshed regularly.

We had a sea view suite which is very reasonably priced and quite spacious. The maid service was excellent. We had a TV in the bedroom and the lounge area.

The Thomson Gold team started with aerobics in the pool and had other activities such as darts and quizzes during the day but if you don't want to take part you can just chill.

In the evening the entertainment on the terrace is quite good with a duo called 'More than Words' plus some competitions and English comedians.
This tends to finish about 11.15pm because of noise restrictions.

The service in the bar and on the terrace in the evening is very efficient and friendly - although it can be slow in the dining room.
A pint and a glass of wine is between 5 and 6 euros.

This hotel was fantastic. Excellent views, great food and overall a very relaxing week. I would not hesitate to visit this hotel again.

The only down side is there was a daily fight for sunbeds in the morning, however we always managed to find a sunbed!

Waiting staff were very friendly and the food is the best I've ever had in a hotel abroad!

Entertainment staff very friendly and not too pushy when people didn't want to join in.

The resort was very quiet but very pretty and peaceful.

This was our first try at a Thomson Gold hotel.

We normally go self catering I would certinly be back. This hotel is stunning. The views from our room were out standing over the bay at Camp de Mar it is the smallest resort we have ever stayed at, only 5 hotels and a handful of shops and a couple of bars.

It suited us, we were wanting a quiet two weeks the staff and holiday reps were excellent and the hotel manager was always present and glad to help.

The food was fabulous the best of any hotel we have stayed at and we have stayed at a few over the years.

There is a bus stop five minutes from the hotel that will take you to Santa Ponsa and any of the main resorts for a few euros. There is also a taxi rank right outside the hotel exit for the less able.

The pool has been heated this year, the hottest I have ever swam in.

All in all a great holiday destination if you are looking for peace and quiet and relaxation.

Just returned from Playa Camp de Mar. Very impressed with all aspects of the holiday. Thomson delivered fully in every area, from prompt taxi at start of holiday to one at the end. The view from our room was beautiful, and we had every facility we needed.

The room was cleaned properly every day, and the food provided was excellent in variety and quality. The management was very 'up front', supervising the restaurants at every meal. The manager was genuinely keen to make sure that everyone had an excellent holiday, and his team worked exceptionally hard, as did the 'Gold Team' who made sure that there were activities and entertainment for all who wanted it, but did not try to impose their will. The evening entertainment was geared to the holidaymakers present and was generally of a high standard.

The area around the pool was spacious with sunbeds for everyone - no need to rush in the morning. An enjoyable holiday for us and we never heard a bad word from anybody else. The absence of children made the atmosphere civilised but not dull.

The hotel is in a superb location and we have thoroughly enjoyed our recent two week stay.

The food was varied, with plenty of choice, at both breakfast and dinner. We did hear one or two people say that they did not like some of the food, but they must have been very picky eaters, because the choice really was incredible.

All the staff were friendly, efficient and extremely helpful; whatever your query.

The rooms were clean and sufficiently furnished for their purpose. (i.e for clothes storage, showering, changing and sleeping - what else does anyone require a hotel room for?) They also had a television, tuned to several English channels, a hairdrier, a mini bar (which you could put your own bits & pieces in to keep cool) and airconditioning/heating which you controlled.

The balconies had really nice padded, recliner chairs and a table on them, which made sitting out there a pleasurable pastime. The swimming pool and the surrounding terraces are kept in immaculate condition and were always clean.

There is an 8 o'clock dash for the sunbeds (people seemed to want the same spot every day and were prepared to get up at the crack of dawn and queue to ensure they got it!), but there were always enough sunbeds and umbrellas to go round. The beach is also well kept, with loads of beds and brollies (pay the man when he comes around), but plenty of open space for you to erect your own umbrella and make your own "camp" free of charge.

As we were with Thomson Gold there were no children under the age of 16 in the hotel and this was a real bonus. We have children of our own, so do not dislike them, but to not have excited young children running around was absolutely fabulous. You could swim in the pool without being jumped on, hit by a ball or battered by a lilo! You could snooze on your sunbed, chat to other guests and generally remain civilised, at all times, without their presence.

Drinks from the bar were reasonably priced and were the same price as most of the "out of hotel" local bars.
There were activities and entertainment every day and night (no-one is forced to take part or made to sit and watch) and as they are trying to please everyone, not everything was to our taste, but most of it was good.

All in all the management have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyably and relaxing. They are open to suggestions for improvements, but we could not think of anything. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband and I have stayed at the Grupotel Playa at Camp de Mar several times. We have enjoyed it so much that after these stays we included my mother-in-law on the last visit. We had such a good time with everything being almost perfect, that we are returning again this year, 2005. We hope to be in Majorca for May/June.

For relaxation, good food, good entertainment, very pleasant and helpful staff, comfortable rooms this hotel is difficult to beat. As for the views, there are not many places in the world to beat them. The blue crystal sea and the contrasting greenery is a wonderful back-drop. The photograph in the brochure does not do it justice.

If you like exercise, there are classes everyday and other sports and fun entertainment if you so wish. There are superb walks and other little villages to visit, on the bus or on foot. The bus visits Palma several times per day, for me a wonderful classical city.

We would recommend this holiday for all, except young children who would most probably be very bored.

Lynne and Peter Williams. And Mother-in-law, Mair.

This was our first time at Camp de Mar. The hotel itself is very clean, but as we were on the 7th floor, I think they forgot to clean our room during our 2 weeks stay. Beds were made and bathroom given a wipe, but never dusted etc.

The food was disappointing, at first it was never very hot until I complained then it was hotter. Unfortunately everything seemed to be cooked in oil, never fresh vegetables or new/boiled potatoes. I think we only had boiled potatoes about twice during our time there. Most fish and meat seemed to be in some sort of sauce and even the vegetarian dishes seemed to be cooked in oil. As the age group tended to be in their twilight years we thought the food was geared to people with false teeth unable to chew their food! Having said this there was plenty of salads or fresh fruit to choose from. Cooked breakfasts were OK but again tended to be very oily.

The location of the hotel is excellent, sit on the sun terrace and then pop down to the beach for a swim in the sea, no need to pay for sun beds on the beach. At 7.5 euros per day for two beds and a shade, this can be expensive over 2 weeks. The hotel entertainment in the evening was a bit hit and miss, but Elvis and the 4 Teddy Bears were great. We were lucky we only had one night in the where the entertainment was indoors, where it was a bit hot and claustrophobic, the rest of the time it was out on the terrace. For the end of Sept beginning of Oct the weather was excellent, in the 30's during the day.

We found the hotel staff very friendly as well as the Thompson staff.

There was plenty of entertainment during the day if you wanted to join in. Water aerobics every morning, although the pool was a little cold.

I would rate the hotel to be in an excellent location if you want a quiet and peaceful holiday. Our room on the 7th floor had the most magnificent sea views, even laying in bed you could see the sea. Unfortunately the food was not up to Gold standard.

I noticed that the hotel could cater for people semi-disabled or in wheelchairs. There was a ramp to get down into the pool and also two disabled toilets, one near reception and one out by the pool area. Don't know if rooms were OK for people in wheelchairs, but there were a couple of people in wheelchairs during our stay.

Would we go again, yes, but this time I would complain about the food and cleanliness of our room earlier on in our stay

Hotel Playa Camp de Mar has a wonderful situation right on the beach. It also has a very large pool which you are able to swim in happily without it being spoilt by children.

Although the resort is small and very quiet, the hotel has activities throughout the day if you wish to join in, plus entertainment every night.

Our only complaint would be that the milk is not cold enough for your breakfast cereal and the hot water not hot enough for tea. Also, there is a lack of fresh vegetables at dinner, but always plenty of salad and a large choice of meats and fish.

All in all, a wonderful holiday if you want to get away from it all and be well looked after, as the Thomson and Hotel staff were excellent.

Just got back from this stunning hotel of contrasts.

When we booked Lunn Poly advised us that some rooms do not have a sea veiw, and suggested that we upgrade to a suite to guarantee this. When we arrived we found out that only about 2% of the rooms don't have a seaveiw, that hurt.

The rooms were reasonably tidy, but during the last refurb paint had missed the ceilings and found the curtains.

The maid may have been alergic to dust as the air return to the air-con was totally blocked, worked much better after I cleaned it for the dear girl.

Linen changed every other day, towels daily if needed.

Hotel generally clean and tidy, extra care being paid to the pool area, some kind of pine trees growing around dropping needles during the day.

The catering was of a much lower standard than I have come to expect from Thompson Gold, who I travel with every year. Sometimes called Thompson old, but you should join in with daily activities, you might just enjoy it! Best of all no kids screaming and shouting and the pool is as clear as a bell, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, back to the food. A menu placed outside the dining hall in the morning advertised the delights to come that evening, if only they were delivered. Fresh veg is a memory, you won't get any here, what there is is cooked to death or stone cold. Then you have a choice of some kind of meat in a sauce or some kind of fish in a sauce. Dessert is a special treat, ice cream and jelly every night ( come on Thompson, we are grown ups!)
Gataeux fresh from a packet, or if you are lucky some fresh fruit. The only reason I gave the food a rating of 2 is the excellent omellettes at breakfast time, then was disapointed to find that the mix was prepacked as well!

Hotel staff were fantastic apart from restaurant, you could wait for ages for a table to be cleared or order a drink, really needs a good maitre'd.

Receptiopn staff friendly and helpful, bus timetables, best places to get a taxi etc.

Thompson staff once again 5 star. Entertaining, friendly and even persuading my (17 stone) to take part in the pool games! Always had time to stop for a chat, shame they could not come out on a pub crawl with us!

Entertainment good and varied. Held outside so if you wanted an early night tough luck. Some nights duff for me but others enjoyed, some nights I enjoyed but others did not, so the mix must be about right.

The area is a little sleepy, only two or three other bars to drink or eat at, so prices are a little higher. We travelled to nearby towns and prices fell consirably.

Won't be back despite the stunning veiws The restaurant has put me off, and not much choice of eating out without taking a taxi.

Playa Camp de Mar was an excellant hotel.

Breakfast and evening meals were of a very good standard and were always hot unlike other gold hotels we have been to.

The rooms were kept clean and towels were changed regulary only fault was the sun beds if you were not down by 8am then no sunbed but the beach was just as nice as the pool.

We would certainly go back to this hotel. Friendly staff and good location.

This was our first holiday without our kids so booked Thomsons Gold, but feel it should be renamed Thomsons Old. We are 47 and 55, but felt that the hotel catered more for the older generation. Having said that, the hotel was good, always clean and the food was excellent, although all in all I would rate it as a 3 star - especially the bedroom, which was quite small. We knew the resort was quiet, but didnt realise quite how much. When we felt the need to escape the entertainment, we walked out of the hotel and there was just nowhere else to go, no bars. We tended to get a taxi to Paguera or Port Andratx, which were a little livlier. The entertainment was varied, but some nights was diabolical - even the older generation said they felt like they were at Butlins!

As mentioned on other reviews, the dash for sunbeds at 8 am was the same - they even queued up the stairs and it was just a free for all. Even if you managed to get one, when you came back to it you were just surrounded where everyone had crammed them together to get a spot, so we tended to go to the beach and pay 7 euros per day.

All in all it was a relaxing holiday (if not totally laid back), the hotel was good, the food was good and in very pretty surroundings. A week was enough for us - although I dont like noisy Magalluf type places, a little bit more life would have been better.

The hotel is the best we have been to. The location is just the best, you don't have to travel 12 hours, when this place is two hours away. The food was so good that we didn't go out to any cafe's. The breakfast are excellent to and the variety is plenty. The entertainment was spot on and the reps we above and beyond the call of duty in terms of helping and putting on the entertainment.

The acts brought in where spot on and George Penya, is the funniest person I have ever seen.

The rooms are very clean and the views from the sea rooms, are so good you need to pinch yourself. The staff at the hotel are on the ball and friendly and the manager is always there to make sure you have a great time at the hotel. We will be back

Well, we have just come back from 2 weeks at playa camp de mar. It was enjoyable and relaxing but i'm not sure exactly gives it its 4* status (more like a good 3* really).

The hotel in general was always clean, just a few minor details such as the dining room floor, or bedroom floor could have done with more regular sweeping!!

We were a couple in our early 20's, and found the hotel catered for the over 45's. This was mainly due to entertainment and cabaret acts such as elvis tribute band, motown band which were not for us. The evening entertainment was generally good, a few comedians (one opera singer/comedian-you will be surprised!! He was great) Flamenco, that sort of thing really; and of course the reps did one show a week which were great.

The daytime entertainment was the usual, 11am either boxercise or water aerobics. Other activities throughout the day such as darts, bean bag boules, boule, target bean bag, giant connect 4, table tennis, pool, cheese and wine tasting, paella and sangria making, spanish lessons and more. Don't forget the sunbed quiz at 4pm, with a bottle of bubbly on offer, ite definitely worth a go!! However, the questions were aimed at the over 50's so we were at a disadvantage.

Don't need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve sunbeds as the terrace doors are opened at 8am, but a huge queue form from about 7.20 to get the front row beds overlooking the sea! However don't worry as there were always spare beds leftover, and even on the third row you still get a great view.

The food wasn't that great for a 4*. Yes there was lots of variety, but lots of it was fried and there was not a huge choice of vegetables.Potatoes were always cold! everyday the was fried local fish, some fried meat eg chicken steak lamb etc, roasted meat, then fish in sauce, meat in sauce, chips, a veggie dish(or2!) and quite a few other things.

I have been really honest here, and it really was not as bad as it sounds,I'm just trying to think of every last detail! The only reason we won't be going back is because the resort is a little too quiet, perfect for relaxing, but we found it boring in the evenings!!(Thats prob why they cater for the over 50's!!)

The hotel staff were wonderful(one day the maid forgot to give us fresh towels, i spoke to reception and within 2 mins the maid was at our door- the service was great, everyone had a smile)

Good hotel to stay for a week.Clean and well maintained
and very friendly staff.Good location and recomend you book a sea view as the hotel is right on the beach.
The food was very good and it was always hot, unlike most spanish hotels. There is a good selection every day and the dining room is clean and tidy.

Food was excellent, every meal first class. Hotel was spotless, bars , rooms , and pool areas. Plenty of tables, chairs, and lounges around pool, NO need to book one with a towel in the middle of the night!
Entertainment good only down side that it was still being held indoors and the bar was too small, in high season they have a outdoor stage. Ensure you book a sea view room.

Just returned from the above on what must be the best holiday i ever had a Thomsons Gold 4*hotel no kids to bother you.
The meals were very good if not 4*
However the bedrooms, pool, reception, all the staff were very friendly
Toilets were as clean at midnight as they were at 9 in the morning
Sunbeds no need to be up at 6 for a bed (they wont let you on the terrace till 8am)and even when i was there last week and the hotel was full there were sunbeds and matress covers for all.
Entertainment if you forget resident band GOLDDUST the rest was either good or brilliant

We stayed at this hotel in July/August 2003, we enjoyed the holiday so much we have booked to go back this year. Our room was cleaned every day and clean towels were left on a daily basis. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull. The area is very quiet and peacefull but we used to get a taxi most evenings and visit the surrounding areas. The only downside to this hotel is the mad rush for a sunbed in the morning. The door to the pool area is locked until 8.00 am and once the door is opened it is hilarious to watch everybody tumble out of the door and race to get the best spot for their daily dose of the sun! The beach is very close to the hotel and is cleaned every morning it has sunbeds and umbrellas available to hire. This hotel and area is well worth a visit. You wont be disapointed!

Stayed here in Oct 02, and had a thoughly good time.

The food is excellent, most staff really friendly and the manager is a character. He actually delights in you approaching him and is proud of the hotel and the good service it provides.

I can't add much more than has already been said here, except that on the 15th Oct ( end of official season ) the local authority started digging up the beach to put a promenade in.
They did this without informing the surrounding hotels, they stay open until the end of Oct.
The Manager was furious, and made them stop with the pneumatic drill straight away. However they continued with the JCB's digging up the soft sand, leaving the really noisy work until all the tourists had left.
The manager of the Playa joined forces with the manager of the RIU hotel next door and went to see the local mayor, but to no avail, the work carried on.
However this did not have any effect on our holiday, the noise level was minimal if you got a position at the back of the sun terrace, and there was still access to the beach.
The kids on the beach loved playing on the huge "sandcastle" that was made by the workmen.

We would certainly return there.

We have just come back from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Playa. On arrival we were greeted by very cheerful and friendly reception staff. We were allocated a room with a view across the bay. We had asked for a double bed which we were told we would get, but unfortunately received twin beds.
(Thomson, please note, in your brochure the hotel is offered for couples and most of the couples we know sleep together!)
All the staff were excellent as was the food, the surroundings and the weather. The nightly entertainment usually began with the resident duo (who both worked very hard). They were followed by a top quality guest act - we were never disappointed.
The entertainment staff during the day gave people a break from burning in the sun with everything from quizzes to bean bag boules and the laughter flowed.

This is an excellent hotel based next to the good beach at Camp de Mar. (Not cheap, but you only get what you pay for!). Large swimming pool and facilities. Most of the activities revolve around the hotel as there are very few bars and restaurants in the area. Some entertainment is very good (Beatles / John Lennon lookalikes and Motown music) but the entertainment staff at the hotel tend to treat the guests as if they are at Butlins. However most people seemed to enjoy that.
It was good not to have children jumping around (adults only at this hotel) and this made it more peaceful and relaxing. However, if you want a sunbed with an umbrella by the pool then you have to get up at 5.30am to put your towel down, despite a notice in the foyer stating that beds and umbrellas are not to be reserved ! The Hotel should really enforce that rule.
Also if you want to choose where you sit at breakfast and dinner, beware, the waiters re-set the tables for the next meal very early and guests can be herded close together despite many tables being empty. The food however is excellent and a good variety.
